  3. Hello, first time posting. The article link below describes how the attacks on the Spanish border are organized and financed.

    https://elpais.com/politica/2018/08/22/actualidad/1534954315_874489.html

    Google translation:

The mafias that organize the jumps to the fences of Ceuta and Melilla demand to each one of the migrants that wants to try it the payment of 200 Moroccan dirhams (something more than 18 euros). This is recorded in a confidential report of the Civil Guard to which EL PAÍS has had access and in which the way of acting of these groups settled near the border is detailed

The police document -which the Government has used in its recent appeal to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg to defend two hot returns from the PP for which Spain was condemned- points out that this payment allows the migrant to be part of a group under the protection of these mafias. They are headed by a president, who has the help of a prime minister and several officers, according to the nomenclature used by the group itself. It is these leaders who collect the money and resolve the conflicts between migrants with the imposition of punishments. Among them, not to participate in the next attempt to enter Spain.

The mafia group decides the day, the time and the exact point of the border to try an assault in which only those who have paid can participate. They previously sent scouts “to inspect the area and gather up-to-date information on the security measures implemented by the Moroccan and Spanish security forces,” the report explains.

Once the day is decided, call the migrants and remove the mobile phones, which do not return until they are near the fence. When the time comes, it is the officers who put the group on the move to the chosen place and give instructions on how to intimidate the police with shouting and throwing stones, sticks, excrement, acid and quicklime. If they fail, and they take more than a month to participate in a new attempt, the migrants will have to pay 200 dirhams again.

  4. http://www.aei.org/publication/kofi-annan-represented-all-that-is-wrong-about-the-united-nations/
    .
He was in charge of U.N. peacekeeping in 1994 but dismissed warnings of an impending genocide in Rwanda. Annan’s apologists might cite a narrow definition of his bureaucratic mandate, but they ignore his decision to not inform the U.N. Security Council when evidence of plans for genocide surfaced. In short, if Annan had done what was morally right rather than easy, he might have saved a million lives. To do so, however, might have made waves and complicated his career.
Annan’s Rwanda experience should have been disqualifying enough, but the U.N. is more about quotas and regional rotations than it is about principle. In short, Annan was in the right place at the right time and so, in 1997, he became the U.N.’s secretary-general.
While he did not create the U.N.’s Oil-for-Food program, his tenure coincided with its operation. In March of 1991, U.N. Security Council Resolution 687 marked Kuwait’s liberation from invading Iraqi forces. Beyond recognizing the inviolability of Kuwait’s borders, the resolution mandated that Iraq “shall unconditionally accept” its unconventional weaponry and ballistic missiles with a range greater than 90 miles. To verify this, the resolution authorized on-site U.N. inspections. While Iraq labored under sanctions, Resolution 687 exempted food and medicine. Iraq, however, repeatedly refused to cooperate with inspectors. Rather, Saddam Hussein embraced a new strategy: Deny food and medicine to his public, blame the U.N., and seek to break international consensus.
It worked. And so on April 14, 1995, the Security Council passed Resolution 986, the basis for the Oil-for-Food program. The resolution created an escrow account for Iraqi oil proceeds and decreed the U.N. could use these proceeds to purchase supplies and monitor their distribution. Saddam’s government refused to accept the program, however. On May 20, 1996, Annan’s predecessor, Egyptian politician and diploma Boutros Boutros-Ghali agreed to a Memorandum of Understanding to win Saddam’s cooperation: Rather than force Saddam to comply with international consensus, he agreed to a compromise by which the Iraqi government would contract directly with suppliers and to be the sole body allowed to request supplies. In short, Boutros-Ghali may have set the stage, but it was under Annan’s tenure that corruption exploded.
Despite the poverty Iraqis suffered under Saddam, Iraq was never a poor country. The U.N. held tens of billions of dollars of Iraqi money, and Saddam had siphoned off billions more under the watchful eyes of the organization’s bureaucrats. Perhaps Annan could have be forgiven for even this had he not subsequently tried to cover up the corruption and end any independent probes. Far from being a reformer, Annan proved himself a conspirator.
Annan did not contribute to the U.N.’s moral authority either. It was Annan who, on September 12, 1997 appointed Ireland’s Mary Robinson to be the U.N.’s high commissioner for human rights. Robinson defined her legacy with the Orwellian “World Conference against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance,” which gave U.N. imprimatur to the basest anti-Semitism. Annan’s response? Apologia and praise.
And when it comes to the U.N. Human Rights Commission, Annan’s tenure confirmed its transformation into a farce, and his moral fecklessness ensured its successor did little better.

  5. Stolen from Mark J. Perry:
Quotation of the day on socialism as a mental illness….
    Carpe Diem
…. is from L. Neil Smith writing in 2009 in “Cambodian Road Trip“:
The trouble is with socialism, which resembles a form of mental illness more than it does a philosophy. Socialists get bees in their bonnets. And because they chronically lack any critical faculty to examine and evaluate their ideas, and because they are pathologically unwilling to consider the opinions of others, and most of all, because socialism is a mindset that regards the individual—and his rights—as insignificant, compared to whatever the socialist believes the group needs, terrible, terrible things happen when socialists acquire power.

    • Let’s take a quick glance at the list of prominent European “mental illnesses”:

      • Islamophobia
      • Getting all Stabby or Resorting to Acid Attacks
      • Any Anti-Immigration Posture
      • Questioning FGM
      • Climate Change Skepticism
      • Opposition to Border-Less States
      • Disputing Whatever Subatomic Legitimacy of LBGTQXYZ…
      • Insistence upon Recognizing Biological Gender (i.e., “Pronoun Trouble”)
      • Rejection of Child Marriage or Bachi Bazi
      • Unwillingness to Tolerate Polygamy
      • Refusal to Accept Bestiality
      • An Inability to Interpret “jihad” as Anything Less than Global War
      • Defining the sharia or “Honor Killings” (i.e., murdering uppity wimmen-folk) that way Solely Because such Brave Muslimas Stand up for Themselves

There’s a proverbial Baker’s Dozen™ of straight-outta-the-oven, poppin’ fresh, Muslim crapcakes, which Islam and the EU absolutely insist that we Westerners must grinningly gobble down like a skunk eating sh!t.

    • Spanish border (Ceuta) stormed again, 300 men attacked officers with battery acid, quicklime and faeces:

I only can prescribe several doses of Napoleon’s proverbial: “Whiff of grapeshot”.

Repeated exposure to the distinctive aroma (and kinetic effects) of this time-honored recipe certainly will prove more-than-efficacious regarding behavioral modification of how these abject cretins conduct themselves in the presence of their betters.

      • Whatever you say dude.
I think a sensible first step might be to actually guard that border. According to the article, there were fewer than 10 guards present at time of attack. Less than ten to patrol 8.4 km of border, which was stormed by 300 immigrants, some armed. Those odds could be compared to the battle of Thermopylae.

        • Rubbish! Thermopylae had military leadership, a clear cultural vision, a warrior ethos, politicians who were prepared to defend their culture and a known evil (revisionism aside) and hated enemy. So far, except possibly Hungary, not one EU state would last 10 minutes vs the Persians as they ALL rotten at the top and in the best democratic fashion, gutless. So, 10 men with automatic weapons and clear orders to actually defend a border would have been quite successful IMO vs 500 or even 1000 whose “weapons” required close range as these are not fanatics or refugees but economic opportunists who are not prepared to die for their freeload but are quite willing to use the pathological altruism of the west to suit their own ends.
Currently their biggest problem is dying laughing over how easy it is. How can anyone NOT have contempt for such “leadership”? Europe direly needs a hard man dictator not a swarm of plague opportunists who pretend to lead but in fact sell out their countries and their cultures.

          • Currently their biggest problem is dying laughing over how easy it is. How can anyone NOT have contempt for such “leadership”? Europe direly needs a hard man dictator not a swarm of plague opportunists who pretend to lead but in fact sell out their countries and their cultures.

            Too right, Michelle!

          • I would want more then 10 to block that much territory, assuming they are using crew served weapons that would be 5 Squad Automatic Weapons, (individual weapons fired full auto for very long overheat and jam then you are disarmed) Assuming you are having the SAWs cover an area 300 meters long (a very unrealistic area, it should be much shorter) to have interlocking fields of fire you you have to have the SAWs stations every 250 meters.that would give you piss poor coverage over about one and a half klick.

for any type of decent coverage you would need spread out 20 to 30 meters apart. with troops with individual weapons stationed between the SAWs. One problem I didn’t mention is the way the barrels heat and burn out, when this happens you either stop firing and wait for it to cool or replace the barrel. When the barrels get too hot the rounds are cooked off by the heat (the M60s in notorious for doing this).

Full auto is not like it is shown in the movies, neither as good or as bad.

          • Your last part is right, Europe needs a strongman leader, not necessarily a dictator (although they are headed that way) but someone who will make the decision to defend Europe and the European cultures. You don’t need a Hitler or Stalin but instead a Churchill.

“On August 9, 2018, the Public Prosecutor General’s Office submitted charges against Iraqi nationals Raad A., 42, and Abbas R., presumably 19, to Berlin’s highest court,” the prosecutors said in a statement.

According to German investigators, both indicted individuals joined Daesh in 2014 after the terrorists captured the Iraqi city of Mosul in June of that year.

Raad A. held top positions in the group’s Mosul cell and was in charge of financial matters. Abbas R. was engaged in patrolling the city, bringing weapons to the Daesh strongholds and taking bodies of killed Shia women out of Mosul.

  7. Reported Daesh Attack Kills Two, Injures One in Paris Suburb – Police (sputniknews, Aug 23, 2018)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201808231067408882-one-killed-two-wounded-paris-attack/

“The incident is another episode in a spate of stabbing attacks in Europe, including a knife attack in the Belgian village of Plombieres on Wednesday and another attack in the parking lot of a supermarket in Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux in southeastern France.

The French police have conducted a special operation in the Trappes commune of Yvelines prefecture near the French capital after a knife-wielding man attacked passersby. At least two people have been killed and one more seriously wounded as the result of an attack by an armed man. Police have issued a notification demanding that people avoid the area.

“Trappes. An operation is being carried out by the police… Please, avoid the operation’s area and respect the security perimeter,” the local police said in a tweet.

Le Parisien reported, citing police sources, that the suspect was inside a pavilion shouting: “Allahu akbar, if you enter I will blast you all.”

As the broadcaster BFMTV stated, the attacker had been shot by police officers. However, as the French police announced on their official Twitter account later, the man had been neutralized, without providing any further details…”

    • Paris knife attacker kills his mum and sister shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ as ISIS claims responsibility

The attacker was shot by police in Trappes after making threats against officers, according to reports

A knifeman armed with several blades killed his mum and sister and seriously injured another person in Paris in an attack claimed by ISIS.

The attacker, who was known to intelligence services, was shot dead in the suburb of Trappes after charging at police.

ISIS has claimed responsibility for the bloodbath, describing the killer as an “Islamic state fighter”, but has offered no further evidence.

However sources in Paris suggest that the slaughter was the result of a domestic argument.

The 36-year-old taxi driver, named as Kamel Salhi in local media, is said to have attacked his sister in the street before killing his mother inside a home.

Police sources told Le Parisien that the man told police while he was inside the home: “Allahu akbar, if you enter I smoke you all.”

When police entered the house, they discovered the mother’s body, the newspaper reports.

French Interior Minister Gerard Collomb told reporters at the scene: “The crime was committed by the son and the brother of two victims.

“The criminal had significant psychiatric problems. The police were called at 9.30am to a dispute on the public road.

“When they arrived, they have saw a person lying on the ground.”

A person who knew the attacker told Le Parisien: “He was nice, he went little to the mosque, had a job, I know him since childhood.

“He stayed for a while at the Charcot psychiatric hospital.”

French TV network BFMTV reports that police opened fire on the man at around 10.20am local time.

The network also reports he was known to intelligence services.

    • Paris attack: Knifeman kills his mother and sister in stabbing rampage

A man armed with “several knives” killed his mother and sister and seriously injured another woman in a town near Paris on Thursday, officials said.

The man, who police said had been on a terror watch list since 2016, was later shot and killed after confronting police in Trappes.

He also stabbed a third victim, a female passerby, who was gravely injured in the attack.

[…]Salhi had no obvious problems, didn’t abuse drugs or alcohol and wasn’t fervently religious.

Salhi was divorced and living with his mother, said Adama Traore, another of his acquaintances in Trappes.

Trappes, about 20 miles southwest of Paris. is an underprivileged town situated in a generally wealthy area that includes Versailles, home to the famous Chateau that served as the royal residence.

It is known for problems linked to poverty, gangs and hardline interpretations of Islam.

Around 50 people from the town have gone to fight jihad in the ranks of terror groups in Syria and Iraq, according to French intelligence.

Half of its 30,000 inhabitants are under 25 and the unemployment rate there is around 20 percent.

The French government has placed the town on its list of thirty crime-ridden districts across the country that need to be “reconquered”, which means deploying greater numbers of police.

    • France: Neighbour describes Paris knife attack as ‘family drama’

A man who lived in the same neighbourhood as the perpetrator who killed his mother and sister in the Paris suburb of Trappes described the knife attacker on Thursday as “normal”.

The unnamed local who spoke to media said, “He was a completely normal person who wasn’t a religious fanatic or anything. He was a normal person and for me it’s very simple: it was a family drama, and you should set aside any notion of terrorism, or religion, etc.”

      • He was a normal person and for me it’s very simple: it was a family drama, and you should set aside any notion of terrorism, or religion, etc.

Considering how thoroughly inbred Muslims are, labeling anything to do with Islamic violence a “family drama”, is a matter which only could be resolved through the Department of Redundancy Department.

However out of sequence, I would please like to remind readers that calling any pious Muslim, “a normal person” requires a suspension of disbelief that could envision a mouse perform a Pas de Deux lift, with an elephant.

    • France: Interior Minister says knife attacker had ‘psychiatric issues’

French Interior Minister Gerard Collomb claimed that the knife attacker who killed two people and injured one more, had “psychiatric issues,” discarding the possibility that the attack was terrorism-related, in a statement made in Paris, Thursday.

“It was more an issue of mental instability, so to speak, rather than someone engaged [in terrorism], who would have been able to, for example, follow orders and instructions of terrorist organisations,” said Collomb.

  8. French terrorism suspect walks free – twice – due to bureaucratic ‘dysfunction’ (RT, Aug 23, 2018)
    https://www.rt.com/news/436627-france-terrorist-released-mistake/

“A terrorism suspect, allegedly involved in plotting an attack in Lyon, France, in 2014, was mistakenly released from custody after a judge forgot to renew his pre-trial detention, the French government has confirmed.

The French judicial system is under extremely tight scrutiny after a satirical weekly newspaper ‘Le Canard Enchaîné’ published a piece alleging that a suspected jihadist, Oualid B, was released from prison on April 3 after a judge forgot to renew his custody term.

Furthermore, the suspect was once again arrested in May for driving without a license and outside his probation area. Police also found his mobile phone contained images of armed jihadists and a propaganda film of the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL). Yet following his immediate court appearance in Meaux, Seine-et-Marne, Oualid B. again emerged free.

The head of the judiciary, Nicole Belloubet, has launched an internal probe to “identify the reason for this serious dysfunction,” of the court system, Government spokesman Benjamin Griveaux said Wednesday. “The priority is to find this individual,” he said, noting that the suspect’s release could potentially have “serious consequences.”

Although Oualid B remains free, he is allegedly under a “very strict judicial control,” the Ministry of Justice said, noting that the suspect was released under the condition that he will check in twice a day at the police station in Meaux, where he lives.

Initially imprisoned in August 2016, Oualid B is scheduled to appear in court in November over his suspected involvement in a foiled bombing attack in Lyon in 2014, which, the investigation believes, could have targeted the Jewish community. The suspect is also wanted for running a jihadist supply chain to Syria. Oualid B., is to be tried in Paris by the special Assize Court, which deals with terrorist cases, alongside Reda Bekhaled and his two brothers, suspected of being involved in the planned attack in 2014. In all, 15 people are facing trial in this case, eight of whom have already escaped France for Iraq and Syria.”

Trump said has asked Pompeo “to closely study the South Africa land and farm seizures and expropriations and the large scale killing of farmers.”

Making it clear he was reacting to the piece on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” the president ended the post by tagging the Twitter accounts of Fox News and Tucker Carlson.

  13. Memo to the confused: Mueller hasn’t found any witches. He’s got some pleas and convictions for perjury, and tax and bank fraud
    By J.E. Dyer August 23, 2018

I found a very foolish tweet in my tweet stream Wednesday evening. It came from a user named “Republicans for the Rule of Law.” Sadly, the tweet’s sentiment expressed the exact opposite of the basis for the rule of law.

Republicans for the Rule of Law @ForTheRuleOfLaw

“Republicans for the Rule of Law, an advocacy group focused on protecting the special counsel investigation, said that the Manafort conviction proved that Mueller’s investigation ‘is not a witch hunt.'”https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2018/08/21/paul-manafort-guilty-reaction-verdict/1011464002/ …

    • I might have missed it in the article but I didn’t find any reference to the fact that the Mueller Witch Hunt isn’t an investigation into a specific crime, collusion isn’t a crime. It is an investigation into Donald Trump to see if any dirt can be found. Nations that have the rule of law don’t launch investigations into the man searching for any crime they can find, they investigate crimes that they know have occurred.

As many people have said this Witch Hunt isn’t about finding any crime it is about punishing the people who work or worked for Donald Trump. The self proclaimed ruling elite Deep State is out to scare any other patriotic person who isn’t a member of the political class that tries to run for President. They are going to try and bankrupt or imprison any and every person that is trying to save the US from becoming a Third World nation run by an oligarchy.

One of the things we need to do is to get enough states to vote for a Strong>Conventions of the States called for the purpose of amending the Constitution. With luck the new Amendments/New Bill of Rights will give some politicians the courage to enforce the laws instead of hiding their heads in the sand and ignoring the many crimes of the Deep State.

“A man has been diagnosed with the deadly Middle East Respiratory Syndrome in England – the first such diagnosis in this country since 2013.

Health officials said the case involves a patient who was initially admitted to a hospital in Leeds before being transferred to Royal Liverpool Hospital, which treats respiratory infectious diseases.

The man is believed to have fallen ill after flying to Britain from the Middle East, where he lives. Officials are now attempting to contact a number of passengers who sat near the man on his flight to the UK.

Public Health England (PHE) said the risk of transmission to the general population from this case is very low.

Typically MERS symptoms include fever, cough and shortness of breath. Around a third of reported patients with MERS worldwide have died…”

Britain’s population continues to soar, new statistics recently revealed, but the enormous extent to which this growth is down to mass migration has now been revealed by a study by the Migration Watch pressure group, who claim on average in the 15 years between 2001 and 2016 82 per cent of growth was down to migrants…”

  17. Cohen lawyer Lanny Davis wants ‘to get the truth out’ about ‘the president’? Since when?

There is more than a touch of irony that Lanny Davis is leading the crusade to expose “the truth” about Donald Trump. That is what he said yesterday during an interview with Megyn Kelly on “The Today Show” in a segment devoted to what deep dark secrets former Trump personal counsel Michael Cohen is willing to divulge now that he’s pled guilty to a host of criminal charges.

Before the segment ended, Davis made an appeal to the audience to send their dimes and nickels to the page he set up on GoFundMe titled the “Michael Cohen Truth Fund.” The request was met with snickers from the audience, prompting Davis to submit that maybe those in the studio “are not as interested in getting the truth out about Donald Trump as many other people in the country.” Watch:

  18. Left Furious After Swedish Public TV Admits Migrants Commit Majority of Rapes Ahead of Election (breitbart, Aug 23, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/08/23/left-swedish-tv-foreign-rapes/

“Sweden’s public broadcaster, SVT, has come under fire for revealing “inflammatory” statistics proving foreign-born men commit around 85 per cent of stranger rapes ahead of the country’s general election next month.

Broadcast on investigative journalism show Mission Review on Wednesday, analysis of 843 district court cases over the past five years found that 58 per cent of men convicted of rapes and attempted rapes in the period were born overseas.

Looking at just assault rape cases, in which the perpetrator and victim were not previously acquainted, the proportion of foreign-born grew to more than eight in ten, almost half of whom had been living in Sweden less than a year when they launched their attack.

While figures showing the predominance of migrants amongst people convicted of rape in Sweden have gradually made their way to the mainstream media — in most cases long after Breitbart London noted the trend — the SVT broadcast was slated as peddling racist “conspiracy theories”.

“It is a poor programme which should never be broadcast,” said Jerzy Sarnecki, a former chief investigator at Sweden’s National Crime Prevention Council (BRA) who prominently features in the media as an expert on all things crime-related.

“The program is based on an old right-wing conspiracy theory which purports that foreign men are coming to Sweden and raping Swedish women and that the establishment — a politically correct elite — attempts to conceal these crimes,” he told SVT.

According to the far-left criminologist, who critics say typifies the Swedish establishment’s “denial and cloaking culture” regarding problems relating to mass immigration, the sample analysed by the public broadcaster was far too small to draw any worthwhile conclusions about offenders.

Rebuking the programme for having looked into the country of origin of perpetrators at all, Sarnecki said it was “absurd” to believe there could be any link between rape offending and mass migration, warning the show’s broadcast could have disastrous consequences ahead of elections by “further establishing this right-wing idea of ??foreign men coming to Sweden and raping Swedish women”.

The BBC also expressed concern over the programme being aired ahead of the election September 9, at which Sweden’s ruling Social Democrats look likely to face their worst election results in the party’s history as immigration tops voters’ list of concerns.

Noting that the “anti-immigration Sweden Democrats” look set to attract a record high proportion of votes, the UK broadcaster said it had “asked why SVT had decided to produce a potentially inflammatory programme ahead of the election”, when it spoke to the show’s chief editor, Ulf Johansson, about the figures.”

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-europe-migrants-hungary-food/european-rights-court-says-hungary-must-feed-asylum-seekers-on-border-idUSKCN1L81R8

“Hungary must provide food to asylum seekers held in detention camps on its border with Serbia whose applications have been rejected by Budapest but who are appealing the decision, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) said on Thursday.

Human rights groups say that Hungarian authorities have refused food to some asylum seekers held in the two detention camps on the border, which are open towards Serbia, while they await the outcome of their court appeal.

Hungary’s parliament in June passed laws that criminalize giving some kinds of help to illegal immigrants. Hungary also said it would not accept asylum applications from migrants arriving via a country where they are deemed safe from persecution or harm, or where an adequate level of protection is provided.

As all the asylum seekers have come via Serbia, which is classed by Hungary as a safe country, their applications can now be rejected. The European Commission says the changes do not comply with EU law and has launched a procedure against Hungary.

Rightwing nationalist Prime Minister Viktor Orban has been one of the strongest opponents of the EU’s migration policy.

Most migrants entering Hungary moved on to wealthier western European countries anyway. But Orban views them as a threat to Europe’s Christian civilization and his anti-immigrant stance helped get him re-elected with a landslide in an April election.

The Helsinki Committee, a rights group, said in an Aug. 17 statement it had asked the Strasbourg-based ECHR to intervene over what it described as “inhuman” treatment on the border.

It said Hungary’s Immigration and Asylum Office had refused to provide food to migrants in the camps in order to dissuade them from pursuing court appeals and to return to Serbia.

“This amounts to inhuman treatment and an absurd legal situation,” it said.

The ECHR, responding to emailed questions from Reuters, said it had asked Hungary to provide food for applicants in four cases during their stay in the detention centers.

The Immigration Office did not respond to emailed questions from Reuters. It was not immediately clear how many people were currently staying in the two detention centers.

Asked about the matter, the Hungarian government spokesman said the law stated that migrants whose asylum application has been rejected must leave the camps on the border.”

In 2012, Ali was sentenced to 22 years in prison for child prostitution offenses, but he was automatically released in 2017 after serving only five years. Telford MP Lucy Allan said that there are “many questions to be answered” about why Ali was released, and also about how the justice system treats so-called grooming cases:

“Now he is back in jail, justice demands that he must serve the remainder of his sentence in custody; anything less would show a casual disregard for the nature of his crimes and for the victims whose lives he changed forever.”

Crews were now searching for another five Tunisians that relatives had said were also on the boat that set off this week from the southern coastal community of Zarzis, the coast guard added.

Human traffickers are increasingly using Tunisia as a launch pad for migrants heading to Europe as the Libyan coast guard, aided by armed groups, has tightened controls.

Many Tunisian migrants say they are fleeing high unemployment and inflation – part of an economic crisis that hit after the toppling of autocrat Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali in 2011.

At least 80 migrants died when their boat sank off the Tunisian coast in June, one of the worst migrant boat accidents in the North African country in recent years.”

  27. Anti-Trump legal crusade in full swing

The entire media-political-government-power complex camped along the Potomac River in this fetid August heat officially lost its collective mind this week.

In an orgy of political drama playing out in courtrooms up and down the Acela corridor, President Trump’s lawyer and his one-time campaign manager stand convicted of various crimes. In this fever worse than Joe McCarthy’s Red Scare, President Trump — therefore — has been officially declared guilty by association!

Paul Manafort, Mr. Trump’s campaign manager for six minutes during the summer of 2016, was found guilty of a host of crimes dating back more than a decade relating to his various business ventures, none of which has anything to do with President Trump.

What is interesting about the case against Mr. Manafort is that prosecutors had declined to pursue some of the charges way back when. But that was BEFORE Mr. Manafort betrayed the political establishment by working for Mr. Trump’s presidential campaign.

    Open Borders –

    • Diciotti migrants illegal, I respond to Italians – Salvini

      – Interior Minister Matteo Salvini said Thursday all 148 migrants on board the coast guard ship Diciotti were illegals and that he responded to the Italian people as he pursued an Australian-style immigration policy.

“My objective is the Australian No Way (policy),” he said.

“They are all illegal immigrants on the Dicotti.” “Italy is no longer Europe’s refugee camp”.

With my authorisation on the Diciotti, no one gets off”.

Salvini said he responded to a mandate given by Italians in the March general election amid the row over the 148 migrants he is keeping aboard the Diciotti until the EU agrees to redistribute them.

“I respond to the mandate which the Italians gave me on March 4,” said the leader of the anti-migrant Euroskeptic League party.

“They are asking me for more security”.

Salvini has faced off against House Speaker Roberto Fico, of his ruling partner the anti-establishment 5-Star Movement (M5S), who says the migrants should be let off the boat and then EU agreement sought.

Salvini said Thursday Fico has done the “opposite” of the M5S in urging migrants aboard a coast guard ship to be allowed to land.

“I’m working very well with (M5S leader) Luigi Di Maio,” said Salvini.

“Others have a lot of time to speak, I’m thinking of the House Speaker, who every so often says and does the exact opposite of other M5S exponents.

“It’s a problem that they will resolve”.

Salvini also said he was not afraid of intervention by President Sergio Mattarella in the case.

The minister said “I’m absolutely not afraid of anything” when asked if Mattarella might intervene as he did some weeks ago.

“My conscience is more than clear.

“yesterday I spoke to Premier (Giuseppe) Conte, who is someone I’m working very well with and with whom we have been in perfect harmony for two and a half months.”
An Agrigento prosecutor is probing the case for alleged abduction.

The migrants have been aboard the Diciotti for a week and in Catania harbour for three days.

Some 29 migrant children were allowed to disembark on Wednesday night. Australia pushes back migrant boats from Asia to islands north of Australia. Salvini said in an interview with RTL that he aimed to bring in a policy modelled on the Australian stance.

“No migrant rescued at sea sets foot in Australia,” he said in commenting on the issue of allowing ships carrying migrants to dock in Italian ports. There will be no more migrant-landing standoffs like that involving the Diciotti if the EU’s Dublin regulation is reformed, European Parliament President Antonio Tajani said Thursday.

“If member States had followed the EP’s proposal to reform Dublin the Diciotti problem would already be resolved,” he said.

“This is the key to the solution,” Tajani said, because “it envisages the immediate resettlement of the migrants”.

The Visegrad Group – Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia – who are against the reform “must take on the problem…or be sanctioned,” Tajani said.

“I will continue to wage this battle at the next EU summit”, he told ANSA.

    • zero hedge –Europe’s refugee mess is back with a bang.

On Thursday, out of the blue, Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister Luigi Di Maio threatened to stop financial contributions to the European Union next year unless other states agreed to take in migrants being held on a coastguard ship in Sicily.

The Italian’s ultimatum comes less two months after Europe triumphantly announced a “vaguely worded” deal on how to resolve the continent’s migrant influx.

“If tomorrow at the meeting of the European Commission nothing is decided on the redistribution of migrants and the Diciotti ship, I and the entire Five Star Movement are not willing to give 20 billion to the European Union,” Di Maio said in a video posted on his Facebook page.

He echoed statements by Interior Minister and Deputy Premier Matteo Salvini, who has refused to allow 177 migrants to leave the Italian coastguard ship Ubaldo Diciotti, which is docked in the Sicilian port of Catania. While Italian prosecutors opened an investigation into the detention of the migrants and 29 children were allowed to disembark, Salvini still won’t allow the rest of the people to come ashore and has attacked the EU for its “cowardly silence.”

Salvini described those aboard as “illegal immigrants,” and said they won’t be allowed to step foot on Italian soil. Instead, he insisted fellow European Union nations take in some of the asylum-seekers.

“Italy’s no longer Europe’s refugee camp,” he tweeted. “Upon my authorization, no one is disembarking from the Diciotti.”

Salvini, who is also interior minister, was defiant in the face of a criminal probe into possible kidnapping charges for forcing the migrants to remain on the vessel. The chief prosecutor from the Agrigento court, Luigi Patronaggio, on Wednesday boarded the Diciotti and said afterwards he had opened a probe against “unknown” persons for holding the migrants against their will.

“There’s a court that is investigating whether those illegally on board the ship have been kidnapped,” Salvini said in a radio interview.

“I’m not unknown. My name is Matteo Salvini… I’m the Interior Minister and I think it is my duty to defend the security of this country’s borders.”

A public backlash against the arrivals of hundreds of thousands of seaborne newcomers in the past five years – a consequence of policies established by Angela Merkel in 2015 – helped put Di Maio and Salvini into office. Salvini allowed 27 unaccompanied minors off the ship late Wednesday.

      * * *

Meanwhile, the European Commission said this week that it is working to find an agreement. Other such deals were found in June and July for ships carrying rescued migrants that docked in both Italy and Malta.

This is not the first time Italy has clashed with Brussels on this issue. In June, Salvini refused to accept the Aquarius boat with its load of 629 migrants. At the time Spain agreed to let the boat dock.

On Wednesday Premier Giuseppe Conte said on Facebook that promises made by EU partners in the past had not been kept. He said only France had taken a few migrants in, while Germany, Spain, Portugal, Ireland and Malta, which had previously offered to share some of the burden, were not doing so.

Italy is “waiting for a strong and clear answer from the European institutions and an adequate response from the other European countries,” he said.

Following news that Italy has once again broken apart with Brussels over the sensitive issue of how to deal with the ongoing migrant wave, the EURUSD slumped to session lows as the market slowly realizes that – as we said in June – Europe’s migrant problem is unsolvable.

Siding with his Italian colleagues, Hungary’s Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on Thursday after meeting Italian counterpart Enzo Moavero Milanesi that the Italian and Hungarian governments’ policies on migration are identical on a multitude of points.

“The Hungarian government cooperates with everybody who seeks to stop illegal migration and prioritizes border protection,” Szijjarto told MTI after his meeting.

The position of the new Italian government and the new Italian Interior Minister, Matteo Salvini, coincides with the Hungarian government’s in many ways, he said. “We agreed that the root causes [of migration] must be addressed … and entering Europe must be done according to European rules.”

Hungary maintains that migrants should not be distributed among EU countries but should be prevented from coming to Europe in the first place.

“No, he does not,” replied Davis, a longtime Clinton insider who started representing Cohen earlier this summer.

Davis’s bombshell statement severely undercuts a July 27 CNN report that Cohen was willing to tell special counsel Robert Mueller that he was in a meeting when Donald Trump Jr. told his father about an offer to meet with a group of Russians who wanted to provide dirt on former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

  34. NYT – To Get All the World’s Muslims to Hajj, It Would Take at Least 581 Years

At least 1.7 million foreign pilgrims are in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, this week for the hajj, the annual five-day pilgrimage that Muslims from around the world make to follow in the footsteps of the Prophet Muhammad.

Amid growing demand and concerns for safety after deadly accidents, the Saudi government has been rapidly expanding Mecca’s hajj facilities to accommodate more pilgrims. At its peak in 2012, the hajj included 3.16 million pilgrims. But even at a rate of 3 million people per hajj, it would be impossible for all the world’s 1.8 billion Muslims to perform the Islamic duty of the pilgrimage in their lifetimes. In fact, for all Muslims who are alive today to perform hajj, it would take at least 581 years.

That’s just looking at the Muslims alive today — not accounting for future birth rates or for people who have already performed hajj, though a 2013 Pew survey of 39 countries found that 9 percent of Muslims had.

All Muslims who are physically and financially able to complete the hajj are supposed to do so at least once in their lives. Attendance by foreign pilgrims has grown more than tenfold since World War II. (In 2013, attendance quotas dropped to account for continuing construction in Mecca.)

Not everyone who wants to make the hajj can do so easily, and millions of Muslims all over the world wait years for the chance. The costs can be prohibitive — two to three times a year’s salary in some places — and visas can be hard to get.

At least a quarter of pilgrims every year are citizens or residents of Saudi Arabia. The Saudi government sets quotas for every other country that sends pilgrims to the hajj based on its Muslim population.

Even countries with large Muslim populations can send only a small fraction of their citizens to the hajj. In Indonesia — which at more than 200 million has by far the largest Muslim population in the world — the wait time can range from seven to 37 years. Some countries complain that the quota allocation is not transparent enough, or that it should be based on demand rather than on Muslim population.

Other critics say Mecca is already at capacity during the hajj, and expansion efforts have come at the cost of Islam’s cultural heritage and the spirituality of the pilgrimage. Several historic Islamic sites were destroyed in recent years to make way for luxury high-rise hotels and malls that cater only to wealthy pilgrims. These developments dominate the Kaaba, the cubelike structure at the center of the Grand Mosque that is circled by pilgrims and that is considered to be the House of God.

Still, Saudi Arabia continues to build. The multiyear construction plan includes expanding the mosque around the Kaaba to hold 1.85 million people.

  35. The Minnesomalia One-Two
Brother’s keeper Ilhan Omar aims to take over Keith Ellison’s role in Congress.
    August 23, 2018
    Lloyd Billingsley

“Tonight we are celebrating because we engaged and empowered our community and we won!” exclaimed Ilhan Omar in an August 14 press release. “Our campaign staff, our volunteers, and the people of the Fifth Congressional District are the inspiration we need to get up every day and fight for a democracy that guarantees a more just and equitable society. Together, each and every one of us are the inspiration we need to keep fighting for a democracy that gets us closer to the American promise of prosperity for all and the hope for a better tomorrow. The inspiration we need to keep fighting for the America we deserve. Together, we will move our district, our state and our nation forward.”

As the first African refugee elected to Congress, Ilhan Omar “will bring a unique perspective and new energy to our nation’s capital. She will fight for working families so they are paid a living wage and have access to affordable housing and healthcare; for students to make college more affordable and debt forgiveness for those struggling to repay education loans; for immigrants and refugees to stop family separations, abolish ICE, and protect DACA.” And so on, but there’s more to the Somalia-born candidate.

In “The Curious Case of Ilhan Omar,” Minnesota attorney Scott Johnson noted “the fact that she is not legally married to the man she advertises as the husband and the father of her three children. In fact, she is legally married to another man—who may be her brother.” A SomaliSpot post charged that “Omar had married the man touted as her husband in 2002 before marrying her brother for fraudulent purposes in 2009.”

  36. Trump Turns the Screws on the Mullahs
Why pressure on Iran is good — and what it can achieve.
    August 23, 2018
    Joseph Puder

The Trump administration has recently demonstrated America’s economic prowess by placing sanctions on three dictatorships led by, what Italians would describe, as Bruta Figuras…or brutal figures: Turkey’s Erdogan, Russia’s Putin, and Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. U.S. sanctions on Russia and Turkey may prove to be temporary, but the Iran sanctions are more far-reaching and permanent.

As the U.S. imposed sanctions and doubles tariffs on Turkey’s steel and aluminum imports, the Turkish currency, the Lira, has dropped 45% in value. The U.S. action was in response to the house arrest of American Pastor Andrew Brunson, on concocted charges of terrorism by the Turkish authorities. The megalomaniac Erdogan has imprisoned Pastor Brunson in retaliation for the U.S. refusal to extradite Pennsylvania-based Mohammed Fethullah Gulen, a Turkish religious figure, imam, and writer, who is the founder of the worldwide Gulen Hizmet movement. Erdogan blames his now bitter rival Fethullah Gulen of instigating the 2016 attempted coup in Turkey.

Also, the administration imposed export restrictions against Russia in response to Moscow’s use of a nerve agent to poison a former Russian spy in Britain, sending the Russian currency, the Ruble, tumbling to a two-year low.

But the Islamic Republic of Iran poses the most potent threat to American interests, and to the security of U.S. allies in the Middle East – and Trump knows it.

  37. Somali Refugees Busted in Tucson
Immigration fraud is at the heart of a terror case . . . again.
    August 23, 2018
    Michael Cutler

Once again, immigration fraud has compromised U.S. national security. Fortunately, this time, the discovery was made before a deadly terror attack.

The issue of immigration fraud was the focus of both an extensive article and a booklet I wrote on the topic, Immigration Fraud, Lies That Kill.

This time an alien couple stands accused of fraud when they entered the United States as refugees, and then applied for legal immigrant status, but they hid their ties to Al-Shabab, an Islamic militant group operating primarily in Somalia who itself has links to al-Qaeda.

The case we will examine today, less than one month before the 17th anniversary of the terror attacks of 9/11, was brought to fruition by the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) as a result of the diligent work of the FBI and a division of ICE known as HSI (Homeland Security Investigations).

As you read my commentary think about the globalists – particularly the leaders of the Democratic Party who refuse to work with ICE, creating “Sanctuary Cities” and “Sanctuary States” and are now demanding that ICE be utterly and totally dismantled.

As you read my commentary, think about how New York State’s Governor Cuomo who, according to an April 25, 2018, Daily News Report made this unfathomable statement:

  38. CBC – MP Maxime Bernier quits Conservatives, plans to start new party

Quebec MP Maxime Bernier is leaving the Conservatives and says he plans to start his own party.

Bernier, who represents the riding of Beauce, made the announcement Thursday morning in Ottawa as the party’s policy convention kicks off in Halifax.

“I have come to realize over the past year that this party is too intellectually and morally corrupt to be reformed,” he said, on the heels of controversial tweets he posted regarding diversity.

“I know for a fact that many in the caucus privately oppose supply management, but buying votes in a few key ridings is more important than defending the interests of Canadians.”

Bernier said his goal is to head a party that runs candidates in Canada’s 338 ridings.

“We’ll have a lot of Canadians and that new party will win the next election.

Bernier’s recent tweets have been labelled xenophobic by some commentators, while others view them as the start of a much-needed debate over Canadian identity and the role of immigration.

Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer will make his own statement this afternoon from Halifax.

Leading up to Bernier’s announcement some prominent Conservatives rallied around Scheer.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford tweeted support for the leader, while Kory Teneycke, the former director of communications for Stephen Harper and a Bernier supporter in the leadership race, penned an opinion article for the Toronto Sun backing Scheer for prime minister.

Earlier this summer, Bernier was banished from the Tory front bench and stripped of his innovation critic title.

At the time, a Conservative MP who spoke to CBC News on the condition he not be identified said Bernier was removed because of his decision to post a chapter from his book on his website. The MP wrote that Scheer’s victory as party leader was owed to “fake Conservatives” who only joined the party to defend supply management in the dairy industry.

Peter d’Entremont, who sits on the board of directors of the Libertarian Party of Canada, said it tried to court Bernier to leave the Conservative Party and join its cause, but he wasn’t interested.

    ===============================================
Maxime Bernier quits to launch new party, criticizes ‘morally corrupt’ Conservatives

Quebec MP Maxime Bernier is quitting the Conservative caucus to create a new right-wing party, using his exit to launch a series of scathing attacks against Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer and his former colleagues.

“I have come to realize over the past year that this party is too intellectually and morally corrupt to be reformed,” Mr. Bernier told reporters in Ottawa on Thursday.

“The Conservative Party has abandoned conservatives. It does not represent them anymore. And it has nothing of substance to offer Canadians looking for a political alternative. “

Mr. Bernier has yet to announce the name of his new party, but discussions with Elections Canada are underway, said a source who spoke on the condition of anonymity. The new party is expected to be officially created in time for the fall sitting of the House of Commons.

The announcement occurred as the Conservatives launched a policy convention in Halifax. Conservative MPs were set to meet Thursday afternoon to decide whether to kick Mr. Bernier out of their caucus because of his controversial views on immigration and his direct challenges to the leadership of the party.

The move stands to split the political right across the country, but it remains unclear whether Mr. Bernier will have enough support and funding to field candidates in all 338 ridings.

Mr. Bernier, who was first elected in 2006 to represent the riding of Beauce in the House of Commons, lost a tight race against Mr. Scheer last year to lead the Conservatives.

Known for his libertarian views, Mr. Bernier continued to advocate for an end to supply management in the agricultural sector.

The divorce between Mr. Bernier and the Conservative Party goes back to his ouster in June from his role as the innovation critic in Mr. Scheer’s shadow cabinet. The Quebec MP had alleged Mr. Scheer won the leadership in large part because he had the support of “fake Conservatives” set up by the dairy lobby.

Mr. Bernier’s first choice up to that point had been to run under the Conservative banner in the next election and to run again in the next leadership race. However, Mr. Bernier started thinking about creating a new party when it became clear that he could be kicked out of the Conservative caucus over the policy disagreements, the source said.

Over the last two weeks, Mr. Bernier has been tweeting about diversity issues and what he called Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s “extreme multiculturalism.” Mr. Bernier said the policy will divide Canadians “into little tribes that have less and less in common” and advocated for lower immigration numbers, even though he holds no formal role in caucus.

His remarks led Mr. Scheer to accuse him of engaging in “identity politics” and to publicly distance the party from Mr. Bernier’s views.

On Wednesday, Mr. Bernier took direct aim at his party’s leadership as his caucus colleagues announced a cross-country tour this fall to consult on immigration issues.

“So, after disavowing me last week for raising the issue and telling me to shut up, my colleagues have just realized that this is something Canadians find important and want to hear about?” Mr. Bernier said. “Great example of strong leadership! ”

Mr. Scheer will hold a news conference after Mr. Bernier’s announcement.

  39. Germany: Women’s rights group calls for headscarf ban for minors

Women’s rights organisation Terre des Femmes called for a ban on underage girls wearing a headscarf, speaking during a press conference in Berlin on Thursday.

According to the organisation manager Christa Stolle, “It is not anymore about the exercise of the own beliefs, but rather about mistreatment from children with fundamentalist purposes. For Terre des Femmes, the children headscarf is a violation of the children rights”.
