UK Police Report on 2 People Suffered From ‘Unknown Substance’ in Amesbury (sputniknews, Jul 4, 2018)
https://sputniknews.com/europe/201807041066021913-uk-police-amesbury-substance/
“Two people have been hospitalized fighting for their lives after being exposed to an unknown substance in the town of Amesbury, located near both notorious Salisbury and Porton Down chemical laboratory.
Several scenes have reportedly been cordoned off as a precaution in Amesbury, UK, after two people have been hospitalized in a critical condition.
The man and woman in, both in their 40s, were in a critical condition at Salisbury District Hospital, Wiltshire Police said. The pair were found unconscious at Muggleton Road, Amesbury, on Saturday evening and it was initially believed they were under the effect of contaminated drugs.
“However, further testing is now ongoing to establish the substance which led to these patients becoming ill and we are keeping an open mind as to the circumstances surrounding this incident,” police said.
Public Health England (PHE) claims there is no “significant health risk: to the wider public, however, but this status is being constantly re-assesed. There was an increased police presence in and around Amesbury and Salisbury, the Telegraph reports.
Salisbury District Hospital is reportedly “open as usual” and officials advise people not to postpone their routine appointments unless they are contacted to do otherwise.
Amesbury is located some 6 kilometers north of the notorious Porton Down chemical weapons research facility, which is slightly closer than the town of Salisbury, where former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia were found poisoned two months ago.”

To our eternal detriment, Angela Merkel is just close enough to defining this era’s “Sauron” during our most crucially needed (i.e., newest) Greatest Generation’s attempt at exterminating unrelenting evil.
Whatever price has to be paid for the arms and ammunition needed to CRUSH this latest, and most flagrant attempt at stripping out the West’s best self-defenses, will be a tiny sum compared to what awaits a Western World which thinks that saving a few dollars today is an effective countermeasure against eternal

10 injured in blast at Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf party office (wionews, Jul 4, 2018)
http://www.wionews.com/south-asia/10-injured-in-blast-at-imran-khans-pakistan-tehreek-e-insaaf-party-office-148870
“A blast at the office of a Pakistani political party injured 10 people in the country’s northwestern tribal belt Tuesday, as the campaign for nationwide polls on July 25 picks up pace.
The explosion occurred at the office of cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), or Pakistan Movement for Justice party, which is one of the main challengers to the incumbent Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
“A huge explosion happened when I was inaugurating my election office in Razmak city,” Malik Aurangzeb Khan, PTI’s candidate from the North Waziristan tribal district bordering Afghanistan, told AFP.
“At least 10 people were injured in the blast,” he said, adding he could not confirm the nature of the explosion.
A local administration official said on condition of anonymity that an unidentified person threw a grenade at the gathering. A security source also confirmed the attack…”
Awesome, Eeyore!
Today we mark the passing of our great friend – and friendly spirit – Potus-2, Prez John Adams. He outlived Prez Thomas Jefferson by a few hours: July 4, 1826, the Jubilee Anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence.
Great celebration today, much excitement:

Dear yucki,
As the editor of a 1,700 page online book that specifically profiled all signatories of America’s Declaration of Independence, it is beyond gratifying to see an erudite person like yourself maintain such resolute respect for America’s Founding Fathers.
That this young American nation somehow managed to benefit from the participation of a few dozen of that world’s most contemporary, edumachcated, well-read, bibliophiles (in an era when proper books cost and were as difficult to obtain as fine jewels), is something approaching a miracle.
The upshot of this country arising from the calligraphy of a mere few parchment pages may well be the most incredible miracle of the last THOUSAND YEARS. Please correct me if I’m wrong (and I know that you will).
The Declaration of Independence and American Constitution may well be two of the most enduring documents that will have permanently changed world history for all of the right reasons.
Again, thank you, dear yucki, for your worthy stress upon John Adams. He, along with so many other willingly and brilliant colonial servants of America’s future, bequeathed upon our barely squirming nation a legacy of liberty, freedom, and institutionalized justice that puts to shame most of the garbage that passes for so-called “government” around the rest of our planet.
Bless the Founding Fathers on this wonderful celebration of America’s Independence Day.
MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU!
Once again I recommend the movie “1776” to you, it is about the writing of the Declaration of Independence and I watch it every year on the 4th.
I often say that the worst thing about being old is you can remember when you could do things.
The worse thing about being an old vet is that you feel guilty that you aren’t out doing the job you were trained for. I don’t know a vet that to one extent or another doesn’t think this way.
“The worst thing about being an old vet is that you feel guilty that you aren’t out doing the job you were trained for. I don’t know a vet that to one extent or another doesn’t think this way.”
Many years ago, when I began recruiting members of the military for my town’s biggest Independence Day parade, I was quickly upbraided by a few veterans about using the term, “ex-military”.
They politely, but firmly, informed me that anyone who takes the oath of military service cannot forsake it for the rest of their entire lifetime. I’m happy to report that I never once asked a single one of these worthy individuals, “Why is that?!?”
To close, without having militarily served, myself, I completely understand your (and your fellow soldiers’) feelings about being “on-the-job around-the-clock” whenever and wherever. Our nation should be so fortunate as to have such numbers of good people who have never forgotten why they served.
My monitor is losing focus pretty badly so I’ll have to finish with a quick, Thank You!
Some do forget the oath, some do but not many. This is the thing the left in their delusional world forget, there are a large number of trained soldiers out here, some are a bit long in the tooth but we remember our training and are ready to defend the nation any way we can.
Back in the Obama era a vet a little older then me said that Obama was going to get the US invaded and that since the military was so low in numbers it would be up to people like him and me to defend the nation. There are a little over 30 million vets in the US and most of us are armed.
I’ve got the flag that covered my Dad’s casket. His medals and dogtag were also left to me.
I figure he passed on his Oath as well.
Afore the era
Of mass hysteria
Came the pamphleteer
A reasonable age
Did assuage
That definition of fear.
POTUS 2 “One useless man is called a disgrace, 2 are called a law firm and 3 or more are called a Congress.”
Thanks for all inspired 4th posts!
The music, the words make me cry. Beautiful.
The Reading of the Declaration – some knew it by heart! – families with kids, all kinds of people, everybody standing together – Potus-1 and Potus-6, watching over us-
Such a good feeling, that even here in deep-blue enemy territory, we can share our pride and love for the US of A.
“The music, the words make me cry. Beautiful.”
Look, yucki, if you expect to be taken seriously, please (at least) specify the proper number of hankies required.
If I had to type another 100 characters, my screen would probably lose focus, AGAIN!
Great Star Spangled Banner ..
To all of our American friends I thank you. Have a great July 4th celebration!

Thank you Johnnyu and Eeyore we have a long hard job before us but with the Lord’s help we will be victorious and the nations that use to make up Western Civilization will all regain their freedom.
Paul Harvey The signers of the Declaration Of Independence
As I hear my downtown’s fireworks display’s grand finale detonate in the background, I’m obliged to remind readers that, back in American colonial times, even a relatively brief prison term (anywhere on planet earth) could be a death sentence.
Just ask Oscar Wilde or Kevin Crehan about conditions of incarceration.
Those unstudied in American Revolutionary War history will likely not know that George Washington was offered the chance to be America’s “king”. Something that he (thankfully and) indignantly refused for even slightly resembling the Monarchist oppression he’d just led a grueling campaign to overcome (see: Valley Forge).
Even fewer people will know that, precisely like so many Declaration of Independence signatories mentioned in Harvey’s admirable video clip—plywood teeth and all—George Washington experienced great personal difficulty and reduced circumstances during his service as America’s First President.
Regardless of posterity’s burnishing of any and all available records, his office was one of undeserved hardship and unenviable rigor.
The benison of this nation being founded by such a gaggle of incredibly farsighted people, willing to sacrifice so very much, is a stroke of fortune that may not happen for any other country in another THOUSAND YEARS.
Happy Fourth!
Germany already preparing refugee return agreements: spokeswoman (reuters, Jul 4, 2018)
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-europe-migrants-germany/germany-already-preparing-refugee-return-agreements-spokeswoman-idUSKBN1JU13M?rpc=401&
“Germany’s interior ministry is already working on preparing agreements with other European Union countries to return refugees to the countries in which they first registered their asylum claims, a ministry spokeswoman said on Wednesday.
Interior Minsiter Horst Seehofer is due to travel to Vienna on Wednesday, where he will hold talks with Austria’s Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, and Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban is scheduled to meet Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin.
Ministry spokeswoman Eleonore Petermann added that there was as yet no timetable for the signing of any agreements.”
Germany Deports Largest Group Yet Of Failed Afghan Asylum Seekers
Germany has deported 69 Afghan nationals, whose asylum requests were rejected, back to their home country, German and Afghan officials say.
A plane carrying the men from Munich to Kabul, arrived in the Afghan capital early on July 4, Afghan migration officials said.
It was the largest collective deportation since the start of the direct deportation flights from Germany in December 2016.
Germany has vowed to step up the removal of foreigners whose asylum requests have been rejected.
Joachim Herrmann, the state minister of Bavaria, where 51 of the deported men had been living, said that unlimited deportations to Afghanistan had recently been approved by Germany’s federal government.
In recent years deportations to Afghanistan were mostly limited to people with criminal convictions.
German authorities had halted collective deportations after a May 2017 truck bombing in front of the German Embassy in Kabul killed more than 90 people and injured some 400 others.
But Berlin restarted deportations in September 2017 in three categories: suspected terrorists, criminals, and individuals who did not cooperate with the German government regarding their documents.
The latest deportation comes amid a worsening security situation in Afghanistan, with intensified attacks by Taliban militants as well as the Islamic State extremist group.

Hallelujah! This has, “HAPPY PROCTOLOGICAL ENDING” written all over it! Eh?
Is it just me, or is there some sort of oddball ironic angle about America’s Independence Day coinciding with one of Europe’s most massive surges towards nationalist, populist, and Identitarian movements?
Go Figure…
Why the Arabs like Erdo?an (memo, Jul 4, 2018)
https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20180704-why-the-arabs-like-erdogan/
“President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an is popular in the Arab world, from West to East, perhaps even more so than he is within Turkey itself. The Arabs see Erdo?an as a leader of the Ummah, not only the President of Turkey. Many have drowned in debate and questions about the reasons for his wide popularity among an audience which neither understands the Turkish language nor has been exposed to the Turkish media to have their opinions influenced.
Arabs circulate news and stories about Erdo?an, as if they are telling the stories of great Muslim heroes such as Umar Bin Abd Al-Aziz, Salah Al-Din or Saif Ad-Din Qutuz. Although much of what people say about him is fantasy or wishful thinking, the result is that he enjoys an acceptance that no Arab or Muslim leader has had in decades. Some even refer to him as the Ottoman Caliph or the successor of Sultan Abdul Hamid II, who ruled the Ottoman Empire from 1876 until he passed away in 1918.
The logical connection between Erdo?an and Sultan Abdul Hamid that exists in the minds of many Arabs has historical origins, of course, in the policy adopted by the Ottomans to strengthen ties between the Muslims. “We must strengthen our ties with the rest of the Muslims everywhere,” said the Sultan, “and we must become closer, as there is no hope in the future without unity.” This is the same policy that Erdo?an believes in today.
A number of distinct factors help to make President Erdo?an so popular in the Arab world. For a start, since he and his party came to power in 2002, the Turkish economy has been buoyant. Throughout the period between 2002 and 2011, the average economic growth in the country averaged 5.2 per cent. This has risen over the past 6 years to 6.7 per cent, which has allowed Turkey to join the G20. In the 17 years with Erdo?an at the helm, Turkey has been ranked 17th in the world in terms of the size of its economy, which has naturally reflected on the welfare of its citizens and their daily lives.
Erdo?an and his party, for the first time in the history of modern Turkey, brought an end to military rule and the domination of the generals. This immediately reduced the level of corruption in the country. Many Arab countries are suffering from similar military domination over their governments, whereby even a low-ranking officer in the iintelligence agencies or the army is able to repeal a government or parliamentary decision for his or her personal gain.
The Turkish President comes from a poor family living in the countryside, and this background appeals to most Arabs. The family moved to Istanbul in search of a decent living. As a child, Erdo?an was forced to work as a travelling salesman in the impoverished alleys of Istanbul selling watermelons and a Turkish bread called “Simit” so that he could help his father and his family, and to have some dignity in life. However, the Arabs have never known a president, neither before nor after the revolutions, not to sleep on silk and make their entourage and friends a corrupt class always ready to intimidate the people.
Importantly, Erdo?an has opened Turkey’s doors to 3.4 million Syrian refugees, as well as tens of thousands of Egyptians, Libyans, Yemenis and other Arabs whose countries closed in on them. In a similar vein, Turkey currently hosts 72,000 foreign students, mostly Arabs, and most of them are studying with grants from the Turkish government, whereas the Arab countries do not provide their children with free education. During the past year alone, 83,000 Arab students have applied for scholarships to study in Turkish universities, while we have not heard of any Arab country attracting so many students by offering grants or any other means.
Moreover, most citizens of Arab countries can enter Turkey without restrictions or visas. This stands in stark contrast with the situation of Arab citizens trying to move from one Arab country to another facing visa requirements and other obstacles at the border.
When Israel killed nine Turkish citizens on board the Mavi Marmara in the Gaza Freedom Flotilla in 2010 (a tenth died later of his wounds), relations between Ankara and Tel Aviv were severed for five years. However, when Israel killed Arab citizens in an Arab land — Palestine — relations between the government and Tel Aviv simply “calmed down” for five months, not five years, and then returned to normal.
Finally, in democratic Turkey under Erdo?an, a man imprisoned and accused of committing acts of terrorism and violence, Selahattin Demirta?, was able to stand as a candidate in the recent presidential election. In the Arab world, the opposite happens, with presidents overthrown, arrested, imprisoned and forcibly disappeared. In Turkey, a prisoner can become a president, while in Arab “democracies” the president can become a prisoner, and all the ballot boxes can be discarded, as if elections never actually took place.
For all of these reasons, the Arab people like Erdo?an, and they are flocking to live in Turkey. That is why they also followed last month’s presidential and parliamentary elections there as if they were taking place in the most important Arab capitals. They not only understand that they are the only fair elections in the region, but also believe them to be an important factor in determining the fate of the region itself. President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an is having that much of an impact.”

Scandinavia’s Largest Rock Fest Marred by Sex Abuse Reports Despite Precautions (sputniknews, Jul 4. 2018)

“The Danish police are investigating several cases of sexual assault at Denmark’s Roskilde Festival, one of Europe’s largest, despite a variety of measures taken to prevent such abuse, involving courses in “feminist self-defense.”…”
The only disturbing aspect of this news squib is that it mentions whatever lethargic on-site police response … as opposed to mystified post-event reports about discovering multiple, well-concealed, ambient temperature, bodies. A few dozen of those turning up in short order will drastically reduce levels of molestation at these Euro-Whoop-Dee-Doos.

You stood alone for freedom, you can regain it now.
Thank you so much, Richard.
However simplistic, (much akin to Marty Robinson’s songwriting of the time) these sort of World War-era lyrics—along with Ronald Reagan’s latter-day, and relatively well-honed political memes—helped energize the West’s (eventual) refusal to accept Soviet Russia’s Cold War load of curiously steaming liquid excrement.
Reflecting upon the extreme difficulty of taking ridiculously over-recruited, under-armed, and ill-equipped USSR forces to the woodshed, I become increasingly concerned about the political will and military materiel that will be required to dislocate this new brood of Islamic Monster-Raving-Loonies into a rather different (and, hopefully, quite previous) geologic era…
Eh?
It will be long, it will be hard and it will be very bloody. There will be massacres by both sides and at any given time there will be a minimum of 5 different sides fighting.

Secret ‘Roe v. Wade’ Film Now Shooting in New Orleans (Exclusive)
Nick Loeb, famous for battling ex Sofia Vergara over frozen embryos, is co-directing a pro-life story of the landmark Supreme Court case, with a cast including conservative stars Jon Voight, Robert Davi and Stacey Dash.
As Nick Loeb walked to his car with a production assistant during a day of shooting his upcoming feature film, Roe v. Wade, outside Tulane University last week, a woman wearing a headset approached and asked: “Are you the director?”
“When I told her I was, she told me to go fuck myself,” Loeb recalls. “Then she threw her headset on the ground and walked off. I found out later she was our electrician.”
Anecdotes such as this have become fairly common since Loeb and his production partner, Cathy Allyn, began shooting their pro-life feature film June 15 in and around New Orleans. While Loeb has been in the news in recent years because of his ongoing custody battle over frozen embryos with former girlfriend Sofia Vergara of Modern Family, there’s been little information about the filmmaker’s new project, save for a flurry of articles five weeks ago alleging that Facebook wasn’t allowing him to use its platform to raise money for the story of the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision that guaranteed a woman’s right to an abortion.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions Rescinds Obama-Era Immigration Guidelines
Attorney General Jeff Sessions rescinds immigration documents which he believed were, “unnecessary…outdated… and inconsistent with existing law.”
Sessions withdrew the Obama-era guides Tuesday, which functioned as a easy-to-use resources, and explained refugees had a right to work in the United States.
The Attorney General said the documents should not have been issued because they imposed rules without notifying the public beforehand, according to his statement regarding the decision on Tuesday.
This comes as the Trump Administration is looking to reform the nation’s immigration system.

China’s ambitions in eastern Europe to face scrutiny at summit
SOFIA/BERLIN/BRUSSELS (Reuters) – China meets central and eastern European leaders on Saturday for a summit where Beijing’s promises of big infrastructure deals will come under greater scrutiny with some participants saying the annual gatherings yield little.
States from the Baltics to the Balkans will meet China’s Premier Li Keqiang at the seventh “16+1” summit in the Bulgarian capital, hoping for fresh money from Chinese companies backed by state banks.
More than 250 Chinese companies and 700 business people from central and eastern Europe are expected to attend a special economic forum alongside the summit.
“Our main goal is to increase Chinese business presence in Bulgaria and in the whole region of central and eastern Europe,” Bulgaria’s Deputy Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev told Reuters.
The gathering, less than two weeks before the European Union’s annual summit with China in Beijing, is unpopular in Brussels, which sees it as an attempt to divide the European Union. The EU is also resisting Chinese pressure to agree a joint stance against U.S. trade policies at the Beijing meeting.

Without even having parsed out any of this article, thank you so much, Richard, for providing this forum with such detailed inspections (e.g., China Uncensored) of Communist China’s laughable pretense at being a “World Player”. BWAHAHAHA…
Note: It is with deep gratitude that you (as a well-informed military veteran) NEVER has seemed to argue with me about my own personal assertion that Islam will prove to be a mere pimple on Red China’s gluteus maximus. For that alone, I cannot thank you enough, pal.
NOTHING about the Chicoms promises of anything but ULSI (Ultra Large Scale Integration) of global terrorism that would make bin Laden’s baker’s dozens of son’s wet themselves continually (in all ways). As I’m sure they do, even as I type these words.
It is beyond critical to remove these minor wood pieces from the global “chessboard” and then set about creating a slightly more stable arena for NON-NUCLEAR discussion of how to resolve issues which should typically involve much smaller-caliber ammunition.
If removing, “major wood” (e.g., rooks, knights, bishops, and royalty) , from the field-of-endeavor is necessary, then we’d best set about doing it right farking away with Spec Ops teams because time is drawing very flecking short to prevent these twisted, beturbaned, scheisskopfs from turning our world into a radioactive wasteland of glow-in-the-dark glassphalt.
Should such honorable efforts fail, mayhaps some well-targeted “enhanced yield” tactical devices (i.e., “Neutron Bombs”) might prove slightly more persuasive. I say so, only because of how, IF THEY AIN’T SO PERSUASIVE, everything’s going to go all pear-shaped so fast that Pixar would bid a gazillion Frog-Skins for whatever morphing technology was involved. Eh?
NR
I can’t argue with anything you are saying, Islam is a major danger but China is much larger danger and probably a longer term danger. At the moment Russia is a poor third and there is a strong probability they will side with us fighting the other two. Not early one but once things get real tense.
The ‘radical’ July 4th message found in traditional patriotic songs
Last Sunday, the congregation of the church I attend sang two patriotic songs in honor of the July 4 holiday — “America,” more commonly known as “My Country, Tis of Thee” and “America the Beautiful.“
Both songs are found in the church hymnal.
While looking at the overtly Christian lyrics, I wondered why atheist groups and the Freedom from Religion Foundation have not sued to ban public singing of these songs at events outside of church.
When was the last time you sang either of these two songs? If you are like me, it has been a while. Unfortunately, the extreme red vs. blue polarization leading our nation to an “uncivil war” means that traditional songs of American unity espousing love of God and country are at risk of political annihilation by someone or some group that find the lyrics “offensive.”
Perhaps that is why we hear these songs less frequently now than when I was growing up. Therefore, as a public service in honor of our nation’s 242nd Independence Day, I present the lyrics to these two great American songs.
https://libertyunyielding.com/2018/07/04/the-radical-july-4th-message-found-in-traditional-patriotic-songs/
“When was the last time you sang either of these two songs?”
Ermmm .. a few days ago? I work very hard to help arrange the entertainment for my city’s Independence Day parade and festival. You’d best believe that, “My Country, Tis of Thee”, and, “America the Beautiful“, feature prominently in the performance lineup and constantly rattle around in my head for weeks before and after the event.
I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Thank you for asking, though…

It turns out most Microsoft employees don’t want to cut ties with ICE, according to a company survey
By Daily Caller News Foundation July 4, 2018
Most Microsoft employees would rather not cut ties with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), even after a publicized internal debate with the CEO.
A survey of 1,180 Microsoft employees shows that more than half would rather keep the company’s current contract with ICE, which is limited to “supporting legacy mail, calendar, messaging, and document management workloads,” CEO Satya Nadella said in a company-wide email.
In response to the survey question, “Should Microsoft end its federal contracts with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement?” more than 55 percent of respondents voted, “No, continue working with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.”
The other two options were: “No, continue working with Immigration and Customs Enforcement but with new conditions,” and “Yes, end the contracts with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.”

Blast from the past: Remarkable echoes from Independence Day at the onset of the Civil War
By J.E. Dyer July 3, 2018
As Americans prepare to celebrate Independence Day in 2018, a new poll shows that only 32% of Democrats are “extremely proud” to be Americans.
This marks a profound difference between Democrats and Republicans. By contrast, 74% of Republicans are extremely proud to be Americans.
A number of news sites have reported the overall figure of 47% of Americans being extremely proud, as if it reflects a generalized ambivalence or malaise. But in reality, it’s the result of a deep partisan divide. (It may or may not be fully accurate, for that matter. Opinion polls routinely overcount Democrats in their data-norming adjustments.)
Another poll in late June found that 59% of respondents were concerned that anti-Trump agitators might incite a civil war. That’s a healthy majority expressing concern about the same people – presumably related to the pattern of increasingly incontinent protests, and even violence, from the anti-Trump left. See, for example, just in the last few days, attacks by Antifa on a “Patriot Prayer” march in Oregon; a chaotic clash of anti-ICE protesters with police in Philadelphia; “Abolish ICE” vandals throwing a brick through the window of a GOP office in Nebraska; and a would-be attacker outside the White House, following the immigration rally on Saturday, 30 June, assaulting a Secret Service agent after screaming at officers and demanding to know where the president was.
It didn’t help that, during this period, a man was arrested for threatening to chop up Senator Rand Paul’s (R-KY) family with an axe.

The Eagle Cried ~ Vietnam Veterans Tribute
As usual she is right, there doesn’t have to be a civil war, to prevent one the left will have to stop its violence and return to a respect for the voters and accept that they voted for the person that was closest to our idea of what America is all about. The right can’t stop our fight because to do that would be to allow the left to slap slave chains on us.
Do I think we are going into a civil war, all of the regular readers know that I think we are already in the early stages of one. It won’t be a big unit war like the last one but it will last longer and in the end will probably be bloodier.
Welcome Home…A Soldier’s Song
Thank you, Richard. My monitor continues to have unique focus problems on these major American holidays. Regardless, to this self-taught lyricist, that song you posted had particularly special meaning. Maybe it’s just me…

Another magnificent, “thank you”, Richard.
Happy 4th of July to all our American friends. God bless you and keep you well.
Wow!
Those were some moving songs…
Let me add one more. Please, indulge me in an explanation…
Having grown up on the wrong side of the Iron Curtain, everything I learned about the USA was just how bad and evil it was. And then there was this campfire song that people sang – well out of the hearing of the officials and their spies. It was called ‘John Brown’s Body’. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Brown%27s_Body
While there are many versions of this song in English, none are exactly the same as the one that I learned and loved to sing as a kid – but this one comes the closest. Please, enjoy on this special day:
FYI, the song wasn’t about the abolitionist but about a Sergent in one regiment. I was in my 50s before I learned that fact.
That is what the entertainment industry use to be like.
Germany: Merkel defends CDU-CSU migration deal in Bundestag speech
German Chancellor Angela Merkel defended the CDU-CSU migration deal in Berlin Wednesday, during a speech in the German Bundestag over the annual federal budget.
Speaking only a day after the dispute with Merkel’s coalition partner CSU and interior minister Horst Seehofer has been solved, Merkel stated, “There needs to be more order regarding all forms of migration, so people can see that law and order are being implemented. This is our mission and our concern.”

In the days following the 9/11 attacks, I so desperately longed to hear the Battle Hymn of the Republic played over the air waves. It was the only sensible expression of the only sensible response to the attacks: A recognition of the war imposed upon us and the will to see the war through to victory.
That it did not happen suggests the perfidy that has poisoned our government. Yet it may be that this war is not yet lost. Dubya may have been more in the right than he knew or could ever have known when he said that this is a war like no other. It is house-to-house fighting to reverse the successes of Gramsci’s long march through the institutions. Success is possible. Remember: Trump wasn’t supposed to happen, ROFL!

Bomb plotters were Iranian ‘sleeper cell’
Pair had links with the group they were allegedly sent to attack on the outskirts of Paris
A married couple detained in Belgium over a suspected plot to bomb a meeting of Iran opposition activists are believed to have been a long-term sleeper cell installed by the regime in Tehran, according to Belgian media reports.
The couple, named by activists as Amir Sadouni, 38, and Nasim Nomeni, 34, had lived in Belgium for years, taken citizenship and are suspected of having infiltrated the organisation they had allegedly planned to attack.
Following their arrest, they said that they had been operating under duress for fear of their families being harmed in Iran, but Belgian investigators believe they were long-term operators for the Tehran regime, according to Belgian daily Die Standaard citing unnamed security sources.
It reported that they had received the explosives earlier in the day during a handover in Luxembourg, which borders both Germany and Belgium.
The couple had both gained Belgian citizenship in part because of their claimed persecution as members of the Mujahideen-e-Khalq (MEK), seen by Tehran as a criminal network aimed at bringing down the government. It has been banned in Iran since 1981.
The MEK form the rump of the Paris-based National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) which hosted Saturday’s rally just north of Paris that was earmarked for attack. The event went ahead as planned with speakers including Rudy Giuliani, the former New York mayor and lawyer for Donald Trump.
The MEK was once listed as a terrorist organisation by the United States and the European Union but now has strong backing from many of Mr Trump’s supporters as the government-in-exile of Iran.
Iran has sought to apportion blame for the bomb plot on the MEK and the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported on Wednesday that the arrested man was a member of the group. Pictures circulating among opposition groups were said to show the couple at MEK events.
The couple was arrested in a car in the suburbs of Brussels Saturday by Belgian investigators who found half-a-kilogramme of explosives and a detonator that was to be used for the attack, according to officials.
Police have searched a number of addresses in Belgium including the couple’s home in the southern suburbs of Antwerp. The NCRI claims that Mr Sadouni worked for a shipping company in both the Netherlands and Belgium, while Ms Nomeni went to Belgium in 2009 to marry him.
Belgium also Wednesday issued a warrant for a man of Iranian origin being held in France suspected of involvement in the plot.
An Iranian diplomat, based at the country’s embassy in Vienna, Austria, was also being held after being arrested in Germany on Saturday.
Iranian opposition figures claim that he has been in charge of intelligence at the embassy for the last four years and would have given the final order to the couple to carry out any attack.
The arrest of the diplomat, Assadollah Assadi, has proved a diplomatic embarrassment for Iran as it coincided with a lobbying mission to Europe by President Hassan Rouhani to promote the Iran nuclear deal cut short by President Donald Trump who has demanded new sanctions on the regime and its supporters.
The other signatories to the deal, including Britain, Germany and France, have promised to continue doing business with Tehran despite pressure from the Trump administration and pledges to crack down on European companies involved in Iran.
The leaders’ support could be made more difficult if it transpires that Iran was the guiding hand behind a plot allegedly set to be carried out in France with links to at least three other European nations.
Mr Rouhani was in Vienna on Wednesday where he met Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and discussed the matter, according to the Austrian leader. Austria summoned Iran’s ambassador on Monday and informed him that they were stripping Mr Assadi of his diplomatic status and immunity from prosecution.
“We expect full clarification in connection with this and I thank you, Mr President, for assuring us that you will support this clarification,” Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said in a statement to reporters after the meeting.
Mr Rouhani did not mention the incident and took no questions from reporters. Iran has previously described the police operation as a “false flag” intended to detract from Mr Rouhani’s visit.

“The couple was arrested in a car in the suburbs of Brussels Saturday by Belgian investigators who found half-a-kilogramme of explosives and a detonator that was to be used for the attack, according to officials.”
I’m thinking it may be time to begin simplifying matters in rather dramatic ways.
Why not just take the arrestees and their globs of plastic explosives, insert or otherwise bind them together (in rather entertaining ways, I hope) and then just detonate the lot of them at once? There might even be financially beneficial opportunities to be reapt from attendance and viewing charges.
Any questions?

Independence Day and the Recovery of True Freedom
Why we’re now in the best position since Reagan to make it happen.
July 4, 2018
Bruce Thornton
We are celebrating this Independence Day in the midst of a conflict over what freedom really means. Whatever the crisis du jour that dominates the news cycle, whatever the conflicting policies and clashing ideologies, look deep enough and you’ll find the ancient war between those who believe in true freedom and citizen autonomy, and those who have reduced it to just doing what one wants subject to the intrusive power of Big Government guardians.
Start with the origins of today’s holiday, which were the American Colonists’ desire for political freedom and autonomy. The thirteen colonies, their customary rights for self-rule violated by England, took the momentous step of creating an independent state that empowered citizens to debate and decide how they would collectively chart its course and pursue its aims. This political community would be free and sovereign because it would not be subjected to any earthly power beyond the collective consent of the citizens as expressed through laws and political institutions to which politicians could be held accountable.
Yet this idea of freedom was dependent on citizens’ knowing how to use this freedom responsibly and for the proper aims. For freedom is not “doing as one likes,” which is not true freedom, but what the 18th century called license, a selfish indulgence that cares nothing for the good of the state as a whole, but everything for the needs and ambitions of one faction or ideology. This selfishness breeds tyranny and the loss of freedom, for to act on whatever selfish appetites and passions that arise in one, is to enslave the soul to them and subject the self and the political community to their destructive effects. As Russell Kirk wrote, “The worst enemies of enduring freedom for all may be certain folk who demand incessantly more liberty for themselves.”

Can’t Stop the Crazy: Dems Try to Pull Back on #AbolishICE
July 4, 2018
Daniel Greenfield
The media doesn’t do journalism anymore. It does narrative. Its headlines, like those of the Chinese, Russian and North Korean media, relay the talking points of its ideological bosses.
NBC News’ “Some Democrats want to go to war over abolishing ICE. So does President Trump.” is typical narrative. Its message echoes those of Democrat leaders but with the only thing that works in a polarized political environment. The message is, “Stop doing this terrible extremist thing you keep doing, because it’s what the other side wants.” Except that message doesn’t really work either.
Trying to sell the left on the idea that #AbolishICE plays into Trump’s hands is the last desperate gasp of a Dem leadership that’s stuck in the hell that it’s made. Peak outrage is tearing the party apart. And anything that seems further to the left, whether it’s abolishing immigration law, supporting Hamas, impeaching Trump and vandalizing Republican offices seems awesome.
And anyone who doesn’t support it is a sellout.

Judge tosses suit alleging Trump campaign conspired with Russians in hack: report
A federal judge on Tuesday tossed a lawsuit claiming that the Trump campaign and former adviser Roger Stone colluded with WikiLeaks and the Russian government to publish hacked Democratic National Committee emails during the presidential election.
U.S. District Court Judge Ellen Huvelle said in a ruling that the allegations of conspiracy were insubstantial to proceed in a court, Politico reported.
“The Trump Campaign’s efforts to elect President Trump in D.C. are not suit-related contacts for those efforts did not involve acts taken in furtherance of the conspiracies to disseminate emails that harmed plaintiffs,” wrote the Clinton-appointed judge. “Campaign meetings, canvassing voters, and other regular business activities of a political campaign do not constitute activities related to the conspiracies alleged in the complaint.”
She noted that her ruling is based on the technicalities of the lawsuit and doesn’t take a position on whether the Trump campaign and its officials actually conspired with the Russians during the election.

Indonesia: Falling to Radicals

An Indonesian family of six, repatriated from former Islamic State (ISIS)-controlled territory in Syria, separately targeted three Christian sites in Surabaya, Indonesia, in May. The suicide bombings killed at least 11 people, as well as all of the attacking family members. Indonesian authorities suspect the bombers are affiliated with Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD), the Congregation of the Islamic State. While anti-Christian incidents are common in majority-Muslim Indonesia, until now, suicide bombings by Islamists were not often seen there.
The same day, May 14, a second family, affiliated with the same terrorist JAD cell, also staged a suicide attack at Surabaya’s police headquarters. A third family was killed in a town outside Surabaya when bombs prematurely exploded inside their home. All three families met regularly for radical Islamic religious sessions.
Indonesia’s National Police Chief, Tito Karnavian, indicated that the suicide family that attacked the churches were among an estimated 500 people who had been deported from former ISIS-occupied land in Syria back to Indonesia.
A sizeable Indonesian terrorist group, JAD, designated a terrorist entity by the U.S. Department of State, has already pledged loyalty to ISIS, which, through their Amaq News Agency, claimed responsibility for the Surabaya attack. A JAD terrorist cell was also behind the May prison riot in Jakarta, an incident that claimed the lives of five policemen. JAD’s leader, Aman Abdurrahman (a.k.a. Oman Rochman), is currently in prison, facing the death penalty for urging his followers to attack a Starbucks and a police post in Jakarta in 2016.
Germany: Migration Deal Keeps Merkel in Power, For Now

In an extraordinary last-minute reversal, Chancellor Angela Merkel, facing the imminent collapse of her coalition government, agreed late on July 2 to reinstate border controls with Austria.
Interior Minister Horst Seehofer had threatened to resign from Merkel’s cabinet unless she agreed to a plan by July 3 to reduce so-called irregular secondary movements. The plan to which Merkel agreed entails holding refugees at detention camps to be established along Germany’s southern border, the main gateway for refugees to the country, and turning back those who have already claimed asylum in other EU countries.
Seehofer’s resignation would have called into question the continued viability of a 70-year-alliance between Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and his Bavarian sister party, the Christian Social Union (CSU). Bundestag President Wolfgang Schäuble warned that the two parties were “standing at the edge of the abyss.”
A CDU/CSU divorce would have deprived Merkel of her majority in parliament and possibly triggered new elections in which the anti-immigration party, Alternative for Germany (AfD), would have been the biggest winner, according to recent polls.
