“A VIOLENT husband who kept his wife a prisoner for more than 16 years while subjecting her to regular beatings and abuse has been jailed.
Aziz Rehman, 47, would only allow 36-year-old Zeenit Bibi to leave the house to do the school run and prevented her from seeing doctors about the injuries he inflicted on her.
The evil thug would often batter his wife and on one occasion hit her with a metal chair and smashed her on the head with a dumbbell.
A court heard how the businessman kept Zeenit captive at their home in Hodge Hill, Birmingham, between 2000 and 2016.
She finally escaped and raised the alarm while her abusive husband was out of the country.
Rehman was arrested on his return to the UK and denied assaulting his wife or controlling her behaviour and movements.
But a jury at Birmingham Crown Court found him guilty of assault and coercive control following a trial.
He was also convicted on one count of wilful assault against a girl after the court heard he once pulled out a clump of her hair, beat her with vacuum cleaner attachments and threatened to cut her tongue out with a knife.
Sentencing Rehman to three years and nine months, Judge Roderick Henderson told him he had completely controlled his wife and treated her like his property.
The judge said: “People are entitled to a basic level of respect from their partners and not to be assaulted, bullied or controlled – this behaviour will not be tolerated.”
The court heard Rehman married his wife in 2000 but he became violent towards her just two days into their marriage…”

Brussels and Germany are on a collision course with Italy over proposals to impose stringent curbs on asylum seekers’ movement within the EU, including through benefit restrictions, identity checks and fast-tracked deportation.
The measures appear in a statement drafted for an unorthodox mini-summit between at least 10 European leaders on Sunday, which diplomats fear will become an acrimonious stand-off on migration with Italy’s new populist government.
Many of the suggestions to curb internal movement will be welcome ammunition for Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, in the power struggle with her Bavarian coalition partner Horst Seehofer, who is calling for an even tougher national approach.
But the joint statement, drafted by the European Commission, has infuriated Italy, one of the frontline countries which would be expected to accept tens of thousands of irregular migrants who entered the EU via its territory but moved north to other countries.
Matteo Salvini, Italy’s interior minister, on Wednesday bluntly threatened to stop Rome’s contributions to the EU budget if he was unable to secure a favourable shift in migration policy.
“We trust in the good sense of our European colleagues, in part because we don’t want to have to renegotiate Italian financing to the EU,” Mr Salvini, leader of the far-right League, said at a press conference in Rome alongside Heinz Christian Strache, the vice-chancellor of Austria.
The protracted dispute over asylum policy has proved one of the most acrimonious and divisive issues the EU has faced in decades, raising questions of solidarity that have pitted north against south and east against west. If it is left unresolved, many EU leaders have warned that it will threaten the existence of the Schengen passport-free travel area.
“If we go to Brussels to have our homework already written by France and Germany, if they think of sending us more migrants instead of helping us, then we shouldn’t go at all, we’ll save money on the trip,” Mr Salvini said late on Wednesday in an interview with Rai television, in which he attacked Emmanuel Macron, the French president, and Pedro Sanchez, the Spanish prime minister, as “chatterboxes”.
“They speak of goodness and generosity? They should prove it,” Mr Salvini said.
His warning was reinforced by Giuseppe Conte, the Italian prime minister who is due to attend the mini-summit in Brussels. “I am not willing to discuss ‘secondary movements’ without having first tackled the emergency of ‘primary movements’ that Italy has ended up dealing with alone,” he said.
Contentious elements of the commission’s draft statement include tighter checks on travellers and “abolishing incentives” by restricting claims for social benefits to the country where the asylum seeker entered the EU.
Measures to “expedite readmissions and transfers” would include ignoring any time limits in law that limit the responsibility of frontline states to take back migrants under the EU’s so-called Dublin regime.
Identity controls on cross-border travel also appeared in the draft. “We agree to control exit movements/outbound travel, notably at bus and train stations as well as airports (through both police and private transportation companies),” the paper states.
Ideologically, the new government in Rome is aligned with both the rightwing government in Vienna and Mr Seehofer, the German interior minister, who wants to empower police to turn back migrants who have applied for asylum elsewhere.
But the limits of their possible co-operation were on vivid display on Wednesday. Asked at the news conference in Rome whether he would be prepared to help Mr Seehofer, Mr Salvini retorted that his government would only help Italians.
EU diplomats were alarmed at the breadth and ambition of the commission paper, particularly given it is for an informal gathering in the run-up to a formal European Council at the end of next week.
While seen as important for shoring up Ms Merkel in Berlin, one eurozone diplomat described it as a gamble that would needlessly exacerbate tensions. “We run the risk of creating an even bigger problem,” the diplomat said.
Securing a deal on migration is crucial for Mr Salvini since a crackdown on immigrants has been the leitmotif of his political surge in recent years.
In his first 20 days in government, Mr Salvini denied docking rights to a rescue ship carrying 629 migrants saved in the Mediterranean Sea, forcing it to find refuge in Spain instead. He has also vowed to deport tens of thousands of illegal immigrants who had been denied asylum in Italy.
Some elements of the draft summit statement would be welcomed in Rome, including beefing up Frontex, the EU agency tasked with protecting the bloc’s external borders. It also calls for the development of reception facilities outside the EU where migrants rescued at sea can be sent.

The Austrian Federal Government and the Bavarian State Government have emphasized their common line in refugee policy at a meeting of the two Cabinets.
Austria’s Chancellor Sebastian Kurz put pressure on the German government in Linz in view of the asylum dispute in Berlin.
“I very much hope that our German neighbors will succeed in establishing a common line of the Federal Government. (…) Hopefully also a common line in the right direction for an external border control, for the fight against illegal migration, “said Kurz.
Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder emphasized that there was a common interest in Bavaria and Austria to make a turnaround in European asylum policy.
“I believe that Austria plays a key role in Europe,” says Söder, “and we support that, not just as friends, but because we are convinced in terms of content (…) I believe the idea of ??protected areas in Africa stands for that’s one of the key tasks we can have, and if we make a lot of money available in Europe for all sorts of things, it would make sense, “he said.
Austria is taking over the chairmanship of the Council of the European Union on 1 July and intends to set a course in refugee and asylum policy throughout the EU under the slogan “A Europe that protects”.

Canada must be unwavering in its commitment to championing human rights and international law,” said Yussuff.
Canada has expressly refused to discriminate in its immigration policy based on faith or ethnicity. That’s why Canada’s unions are calling on the Trudeau government to further distinguish itself by taking immediate steps to publicly challenge America’s new immigration policies and to encourage Canadians to continue to open their hearts and homes to the world’s most vulnerable people.
These steps include:
Re-examining Canada’s Safe Third Country Agreement with the United States to ensure that all migrants entering Canada through the U.S. have their claims for refugee protection fairly and properly processed;
Helping those stranded now, on an emergency basis, by offering asylum to all those who – despite having passed a two-year rigorous screening process – are being denied entry to the U.S.; and Launching an intensive public awareness campaign to educate Canadians about Canada’s rigorous border security and the dire and vulnerable circumstances facing refugees in the lands from which they flee.
The Canadian Labour Congress represents 3.3 million unionized workers and has been actively campaigning to raise public awareness around the plight of refugees and to encourage Canadian municipalities to declare themselves “sanctuary cities” for international refugees.

He’d say, ‘If you came here I’ll make you my wife.’ We swapped hundreds of messages every day,” she told the media outlet.
Miners was expected to arrive in Syria through Turkey, but was stopped by anti-terror police – she could have faced up to ten years in prison but was released on bail shortly after security agents concluded that she had been deluded.
After her arrest the model found out that Hussain was grooming other British women as jihadis – nearly two weeks ago one of them, Safaa Boular, was convicted of plotting a terrorist attack in the UK.
“I could so easily have been Safaa Boular. I’m lucky I was arrested when I was,” she said.
In January, the police told Miners that she would not face any further action after 15 months on bail.”

The Gambian migrant is accused of breaking into the nursing home in the German town of Wendlingen in Baden-Württemberg on May 26th, entering the residence of the elderly woman while she slept, and molesting her in “immoral ways”, according to a press release distributed by the Stuttgart public prosecutor.
The 90-year-old woke up during the sexual abuse and the migrant attempted to pull the wedding ring from her finger but was unable when the woman started fighting back against him.
The Gambian then let go of the woman and attempted to steal a flatscreen television instead which alerted the staff of the nursing home who pursued him as he tried to escape. The 21-year-old managed to flee but not before the staff were able to take several pictures of him that were later turned over to investigators.
Police later executed a search warrant after identifying the migrant and arrested him on charges of sexual abuse and robbery…”

Germany: Left-wing violence and extremism on the rise
BERLIN (AP) — German security officials say left-wing extremists have become more willing to use violence over the past five years.
Figures released by the domestic intelligence agency BfV on Wednesday show the number of left-wing extremists whom authorities consider potentially violent rose 27 percent from 7,100 to about 9,000 between 2012 and 2017.
The number of violent crimes committed by left-wing extremists rose 88 percent during that period, to 1,648 from 876.
Last year saw a spike in left-wing violence partly due to the G-20 summit in Hamburg. The rise of the far-right Alternative for Germany has also given left-wing extremists a new target in recent years.
BfV chief Hans-Georg Maassen called for more public debate about the need to reject violence as a means of achieving political ends.

At the Senate Public Safety Committee hearing, representatives for rank-and-file police and their management said their objections to the proposed change on use of force could not be resolved by an offer to provide funding to retrain officers.

MANAGUA, NICARAGUA – Amid the deepening political crisis in Nicaragua, opposition leaders from a key city that had once cradled President Daniel Ortega’s socialist revolution on Monday announced that they do not recognize Ortega’s leadership and that they would create a commission to self-govern the city.
The town of Masaya, about 15 miles south of the capital city of Managua, was a bastion of support for Ortega and his Sandinista rebels who overthrew the dictatorship of Anastasio Somoza in 1979. For the past few weeks, Masaya has been controlled by protesters, a warren of citizen-manned roadblocks and barricades, with city hall abandoned and police hunkered down in their barracks.
Those protest leaders now say they don’t recognize Ortega’s government, which they blame for the deaths of more than 200 people over the past two months. Instead, a five-member “junta of national salvation” will govern Masaya, seeking to administer a city, including cleaning up trash and restocking food in a city of blocked streets.
“What we are doing is making it official,” Yubrank Suazo, a coordinator of the protest movement in Masaya, said of the new governing commission. “In fact, Masaya has not recognized this government for weeks.”

While the number of such people is comparatively small, the separations are obviously undesirable.
Out of nearly 12,000 migrant children being held in U.S. facilities, some 10,000 arrived unaccompanied, meaning their parents sent them on the perilous journey north through Mexico alone. Schumer is trying to force PT to use executive orders to solve this issue, once he starts doing that the pressure off Congress to do their job and the Dems will have something to fight back against the Conservatives attacks on Obama for using executive orders to do things Congress wouldn’t. The orginal idea of executive orders was to give the President the authority to do things when the part time legislature was not in DC. Once the legislature became a full time job the need for Executive orders was reduced to a few things like responding to a military attack.

Although it’s time to begin shifting the focus of Russiagate analysis to an earlier period – before March of 2016 – the Wall Street Journal’s Holman W. Jenkins, Jr. raised a still-unadjudicated point this past week that merits at least one more look at that busy month.
In his column on Friday, 15 June, Jenkins continues a series of essential pieces he has done on some supposed “Russian-hacking intelligence,” about an assurance from Loretta Lynch to the Hillary Clinton campaign that Lynch wouldn’t let the email probe “go too far.” His concern is that the truth about that remains hidden in the classified appendix to the Justice Department IG report, and that the appendix needs to be released. (Ben Bowles wrote about this at LU on Tuesday.)
Readers can be pardoned for not remembering what that story’s about. James Comey has brought it up repeatedly, and the media have dutifully given it oxygen each time. But they don’t flog it endlessly with the purpose of making it a core element of the Russiagate narrative. As Russiagate side-dramas go, it has been flying under the radar.
It may, however, be the key to quite a bit. I wrote about it in April 2018, right after Comey alluded to it once again in his interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, when he was kicking off his book tour.

Switzerland has just rejected a proposed law preventing mosques from accepting money from abroad, and compelling them to declare where their financial backing comes from and for what purpose the money will be used. According to the proposal, imams also would have been obliged to preach in one of the Swiss national languages.
While the proposal narrowly passed in the lower house of parliament already in September 2017, the upper house recently rejected it. The proposal was modeled on regulations in Austria, where already in 2015, a law banning foreign funding of religious groups was passed. The Austrian law aims to counter extremism by requiring imams to speak German, prohibiting foreign funding for mosques, imams and Muslim organizations in Austria, and stressing the precedence of Austrian law over Islamic sharia law for Muslims living in the country.
The Federal Council, which constitutes the federal government of Switzerland, was also against the proposal, and claimed that it constituted ‘discrimination’: “We must not discriminate against Muslim communities and imams and put them under general suspicion,” Justice Minister Simonetta Sommaruga said. The Federal Council noted that in Austria, Islam is officially recognized, whereas it is not in Switzerland. According to the Swiss government, therefore, the model applied in Austria does not apply to Switzerland, as “One cannot demand obligations without rights”. Instead, the Federal Council evidently believes that the risks posed by extremist Islamist preachers and communities can be combated within existing law.

When non-Muslims deny Muslim minorities the rights that Muslim-majority countries systematically deny non-Muslim minorities, extremist Muslims in Turkey seem to have the habit of threatening non-Muslim lands with holy war.
“Soon religious wars will break out in Europe. You are taking Europe toward an abyss. The Austrian authorities had already launched a probe after images emerged in April showing children in a Turkish-funded mosque playing dead and re-enacting the World War I battle of Gallipoli. The photos of children, published by the weekly Falter, showed the young boys in camouflage uniforms marching, saluting, waving Turkish flags and then playing dead. Their “corpses” were then lined up and draped in flags.

Only a few hours after the New York office of the FBI took possession of the Weiner laptop, on September 26, 2016, the FBI computer expert discovered it contained more than 140,000 emails involving Hillary Clinton. They were from multiple domain names: State.gov, Clintonemail.com, ClintonFoundation.org, HillaryClinton.com and Blackberry devices. The agent had what he told the inspector general was an “oh shit moment” — recognizing that he had found evidence important to the most important investigation — and he immediately reported it up the chain.
According to the inspector general’s report of June 14, specifically Chapters IX-XI, the treasure “trove” of emails covered Mrs. Clinton’s entire tenure as Secretary of State.
We already knew that President Barack Obama was emailing her on her unsecure server at Clintonemail.com, and Cheryl Mills had written an email noting how “obvious” it was to anyone that this was not State.gov and therefore unsecure. The president jolly-well knew it was not a secure communication as he used an alias.
This was a gargantuan problem for the FBI and for Mrs. Clinton. Other people knew about it, too.
Indeed, according to the inspector general, 39 high-ranking FBI agents knew of it, along with the New York office and people in the New York U.S. Attorney’s office. The New York FBI informed them all during a secure video-conference on September 28 — chaired by Andrew McCabe.
One agent said the announcement of finding hundreds of thousands of Clinton emails on Weiner’s laptop was “like dropping a bomb in the middle of the meeting.”
The New York agent Sweeney followed up with two calls to McCabe later that evening — after McCabe did not call him as promised.
So . . . what did McCabe, Comey and Strzok do? They sat on it until police officers in New York and FBI agents in New York threatened to expose them.
By October 28, it was only 11 days before the election. Comey panicked. The jig was up. They had been hiding it for three weeks. Comey’s guilt and concern for his own career caused him to realize he could not keep it quiet any longer.
Everything exploded when Comey wrote a letter to Congress vaguely reporting the discovery of “additional emails that appear to be related to the investigation.” He wrote further, “the FBI cannot assess at this time whether or not the material may be significant.”
Comey’s words to Congress are belied by the inspector general’s report who bought none of their excuses for the multi-week delay in addressing the emails.
On October 30, 2016, The Daily Caller reported that the Department of Justice had not even sought a warrant for review of the 350,000 Clinton emails.
Breitbart reported on November 4, 2016 that the New York Police Department officers who had seen the evidence on Weiner’s laptop had threatened to blow the whistle. Remarkably, the “Justice Department” shut them down by allegedly threatening to indict NYPD officers on the two-year old death of Eric Gardner if the NYPD disclosed it.
In a stunning assertion, Director Comey told the Inspector General he did not know Anthony Weiner was married to Huma Abedin. Perhaps they should have told him it was “Carlos Danger?”
Either Comey was bald-faced lying, which is punishable under 18 U.S.C. §1001, or the level of ignorance and incompetence inherent in that representation alone warranted his termination.
Moreover, if Comey’s claim were true, then Comey, McCabe and Strzok should have flown into action at the mere thought of a perverted stranger in a sexual offense investigation having 350,000 emails of the secretary of state including highly classified information — covering her entire tenure there.
From the FBI’s and DOJ’s “handling” of the “Weiner problem,” there is more than enough evidence to demand immediate production of the Weiner laptop and all emails should be obtained from NSA or otherwise to be given to an independent special prosecutor for a full and thorough investigation.
In addition, all of this raises scores upon scores of additional questions.
Here are just 10 such questions:
1. What are the names of all the people the FBI has identified as having emailed Hillary Clinton on her obvious unsecured server at Clintonemail.com? (We already know Obama emailed her on it under an alias. Which other high-ranking officials also emailed Clinton at her unsecured server? What about Robert Mueller? What about Eric Holder?
2. Did the inspector general ask Lynch about threats to NYPD to prosecute officers if they didn’t back down on exposing the email cover-up? Why not?
3. Did the FBI show Hillary the email by Cheryl Mills stating it was “obvious” Clintonemail.com was not secure?
4. Who are the three — just three — FBI agents who reviewed the Weiner laptop and conducted the miraculous de-duping and review in only a few days of 350,000 emails that covered her entire tenure as Secretary of State?
5. Who in the Department of Justice reviewed the 350,000 Clinton emails on Weiner laptop?
6. Who in Department of Justice talked to the New York office about the Weiner laptop?
7. How many classified, top-secret and even more secret chains were found from Clinton’s own production on Weiner’s laptop?
8. Who stripped the classified and confidential markings from the documents Mrs. Clinton received before sending them to her?
9. Where is Weiner’s laptop right now?
10. Who made that phone call from the Department of Justice to the New York Police Department? Exactly what was said?

The previously unnamed FBI officials — “FBI Attorney 2” and “Agent 5” — are Kevin Clinesmith and Sally Moyer, respectively, according to House Judiciary Committee member Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC), who revealed their identities over the objection of the FBI during a hearing on the IG’s findings.
The two were assigned to the bureau’s Hillary Clinton email investigation, according to the IG’s report, while Clinesmith also later worked as a top lawyer on the Trump-Russia investigation and the special-counsel probe.
