The US ambassador made it clear that he was not aware of the picture of the Temple, but Abu Mazen’s senior advisor was insulting and said that it was a provocative step and the goal was to wipe out the Palestinians from Jerusalem and expel them from it.
“This is a provocative step and a racist message that incites the destruction of the Al-Aqsa mosque,” Mahmoud al-Habash, senior adviser to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, said Wednesday in a picture of the US ambassador David Friedman, Temple on the Temple Mount instead of the Dome of the Rock.

“We expect an historic Arab-Islamic reaction to this racist provocation by the American ambassador,” al-Habash said. “We must accept an apology from him personally and from the American administration, in addition to ending his role, canceling the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and closing the American settlement that was opened in Jerusalem.”
MK Talab Abu Arar said in response to the picture that “the slippery slope toward which Friedman and his friends are aimed is a disaster and a strategic threat to the peace of innocent civilians in this country. The explosive battery that can be dragged into everyone’s agenda is only a matter of time, the explosion of the negative baggage and the implications that the sane majority living in this country could be injured.
“The mosques do not give up, it is a thick red line, we were present for reality and preventive responses against the electronic inspection of magnometers last summer at the gates of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and we can not imagine what might happen in the event that this picture takes a step toward the religious connection to the place, The mosques and the holy places are not the “tips” for a campaign of this kind or another.
As reported in the “Shabbat Square”, Friedman received the picture during a tour of the Ahiya Institute in Bnei Brak, unaware of the image of the Temple. “Ambassador Freedman was not aware of the photo he was brought to, and he was disappointed when he realized that someone had used his visit to Bnei Brak to create controversy,” the embassy spokeswoman said.
Ahiya’s management also apologized for the incident, saying: “The management of the Ahiya organization wishes to apologize to the American ambassador to Israel, Mr. David Friedman, and to the US Embassy in Israel.
“We would like to thank Ambassador David Friedman and the staff at the embassy for the professionalism and courtesy they have shown in visiting her brother to shed light on the important work that is changing our lives, and unfortunately the entire event has been dulled by a cheap political act. We again want to thank the ambassador for his time and deeply apologize for the incident that could have been prevented. ”

This is interesting because the reaction repudiates the historic Wakf view. In March or April of 1994 (i.e., before Passover), the English abroad edition of the Jerusalem Press ran an interview with the then-head of the Wakf. His reply to a question regarding a so-called Third Temple was that should it spontaneously occud, he would join those aleeady dancing around it.
This was perhaps a when-pigs-fly response, but it indicated disagreement, not animus, and a certain humility that accepts God as the True Judge.

Friday is the deadline for the FBI and Justice Department to give the Senate Judiciary Committee key documents in the Michael Flynn case.
It won’t happen, because that’s not how the current FBI and Justice Department deal with congressional demands involving the Trump-Russia affair. But sooner or later, Judiciary Chairman Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, is likely to get his way.

Deutsche Bank slashes over 7,000 jobs in major shake-up
Germany’s largest lender Deutsche Bank said Thursday it will slash over 7,000 jobs and dramatically scale back its investment banking activities as it seeks to turn the page on years of losses.
The announcement came just hours before the bank’s annual general meeting kicked off, where newly appointed chief executive Christian Sewing sought to reassure unhappy investors Deutsche is ready to do what it takes to return to profitability.
“We are not yet where we should be. Therefore we must act, and we must act swiftly and forcefully,” Sewing told shareholders in Frankfurt.
In a statement, Deutsche said the number of full-time positions globally would fall from 97,000 “to well below 90,000”. “The associated personnel reductions are underway,” it added.
Deutsche did not mention which countries would be affected, but said a quarter of the jobs in its equities and sales trading business would be cut.
The jobs cull is the first big decision taken by Sewing, who unexpectedly replaced CEO John Cryan in early April.
Sewing had already signalled he was planning deep cuts at Deutsche’s trouble-plagued investment banking arm, shifting the focus to more stable business activities such as retail banking, particularly in Europe.

An Ottawa man who has become the face of the fight against Ottawa police racial profiling has been charged with defrauding his former employer of thousands of dollars in automobile insurance in an alleged rental car scheme involving two others, this newspaper has learned.
Chad Aiken, who previously worked at Avis car rental, has been charged with fraud, conspiracy to commit fraud and fraudulent concealment.
Aiken, 31, was just a teenager when he was pulled over in 2005 by Ottawa police in a traffic stop. He filed a human rights complaint against the force alleging that he was pulled over simply for driving a Mercedes while being black. The settlement of that complaint led to Ottawa police conducting a two-year collection of race data on drivers stopped by officers. That study found that black and Middle Eastern drivers were disproportionately stopped by local police.
The criminal charges against Aiken date back to December 2017. A new report claims that a significant number of rank-and-file FBI agents are chomping at the bit to expose Obama-era leaders, alleging corruption and even criminal violations of the law.
These agents are signaling that the only way they can safely and legally blow the whistle is if Congress subpoenas them individually to provide information about their former bosses.
“There are agents all over this country who love the bureau and are sickened by [James] Comey’s behavior and [Andrew] McCabe and [Eric] Holder and [Loretta] Lynch and the thugs like [John] Brennan–who despise the fact that the bureau was used as a tool of political intelligence by the Obama administration thugs,” Joe DiGenova, a former United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, told the Daily Caller.
“They are just waiting for a chance to come forward and testify.”

Foreign journalists at the Punggye-ri nuclear testing site in the north-east said they witnessed a huge explosion.
Pyongyang offered to scrap the site earlier this year as part of a diplomatic rapprochement with South Korea and the US.
But scientists believe it partially collapsed after the last test in September 2017, rendering it unusable.

German refugee agency to review 18,000 successful applications in asylum scandal

BERLIN, May 18 (Xinhua) — The German Federal Office for Migration and Asylum (Bamf) is reviewing around 18,000 successful asylum applications in response to serious irregularities at its Bremen branch, the organization’s director Jutta Cordt told the press on Friday.
Speaking in Berlin, Cordt explained that the comprehensive assessment would take three months in total and involve 70 Bamf employees. The objective of the investigation was to review every case in which asylum status had been granted to refugees by the Bremen office since the year 2000.
“We are in the process of clarifying the matter and this effort is still ongoing,” the Bamf director said.
A senior Bamf employee in Bremen stands accused of incorrectly granting humanitarian residency in Germany in thousands of applications asylum seekers between 2013 and 2017. The Bremen State Prosecution Office confirmed that it was investigating the Bamf employee in question, as well as three attorneys and one translator who are believed to have cooperated systematically in subverting the course of justice.

A 36-year-old local man has been charged after grabbing a dog’s genitals and a woman’s buttocks.
On May 22, 2018 at approximately 12:30 p.m. the victim was in McBurney Park with her dog. The accused approached and when he bent down to pet the dog, he grabbed the dog’s genitals and squeezed until the dog yelped in pain. The accused then made inappropriate sexual comments towards the victim and grabbed her buttocks. The victim was able to get away from the accused and call police.
Responding officers located the accused still in the park. The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.
The accused was charged with sexual assault, and willfully cause unnecessary pain to an animal.

BEIJING (Reuters) – China has found no clues to explain what happened to an American citizen working at a U.S. consulate who reported suffering from “abnormal” sounds and pressure leading to a mild brain injury, a foreign ministry spokesman said on Thursday.
The U.S. embassy, which issued a health alert on Wednesday to Americans living in China, said it could not link the case to health problems suffered by U.S. government staff in Cuba dating back to late 2016.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said China has always safeguarded the security of foreign organizations and personnel of foreign countries, including the United States, according to the Vienna convention.
“China has already conducted an earnest investigation and we have also given initial feedback to the U.S. side,” Lu told a daily news briefing in Beijing.
“Currently, we have not found any reasons or clues leading to the situation described by the United States,” he said.
In Washington on Wednesday, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the United States was concerned about the “serious medical incident” and raised it with China’s visiting State Councillor Wang Yi.

The Utah Republican added that Justice Kennedy, a Reagan appointee who has split with conservative jurists on issues like gay marriage and abortion, would prefer to be replaced by a Republican president.
“A lot of chatter suggesting that Justice Kennedy might be preparing for retirement as soon as this year,” Mr. Lee said Tuesday on Fox News Radio’s “Benson & Harf.” “Sometime between now and the end of June or first day or two of July would be when we would expect an announcement from Justice Kennedy if he were going to do it. What I am hearing is that he is at least considering it and it’s a very real possibility.”

Jumping by 3 per cent in one year, the non-UK born population surged from 9.2 million in 2016 to 9.4 million in 2017, according to the latest Office of National Statistics (ONS) numbers released Thursday.
The non-British citizen population increased from 6.0 million to 6.2 million in the year, rising by up 4 per cent over the same period. The number of European Union-born people in the UK rose by 170,000 last year to 3.7 million.
According to think tank and pressure group Migration Watch, the increase from the EU alone is greater than the population of Harrogate.
Breaking the number down, the Romanian-born population of the UK grew by 80,000, to 390,000, suggesting migrants may be rushing to the UK before border controls are introduced after Brexit. “I knew [Clinton]; I knew some people who worked on her campaign,” the lobbyist, Rinat Akhmetshin, told the Senate Judiciary Committee in closed-door testimony on Nov. 14.
A transcript of the testimony was released along with other meeting attendees on May 16.
Akhmetshin, a former Soviet military intelligence officer, also said his attorney, Edward Lieberman, knows Clinton well. Lieberman’s late wife, Evelyn Lieberman, was a close confidante of Clinton’s. At one point, Akhmetshin said he was not a fan of President Donald Trump’s family.

Lawyers for Mueller’s team are trying to pull a fast one by turning over two terrabytes of social media content – enough data to fill 1500 CD-ROMs – without translating them from the original Russian.
Defense lawyers protested that Mueller’s team had five weeks and they are supposed to turn over their evidence and not make the defense do the prosecution’s translation legwork.

Trump Cancels Summit with North Korea

(AFP) President Donald Trump informed Kim Jong Un Thursday he is canceling their nuclear summit next month in Singapore, blaming “anger” and “hostility” from the North Korean regime for the collapse of the historic event.
Trump and Kim had been due to hold high-stakes talks on June 12 aimed at ridding the reclusive state of nuclear weapons, but the meeting was recently thrown into doubt as both sides raised the prospect of scrapping the discussions and traded threats.
Trump’s letter came a day after North Korea attacked US Vice President Mike Pence as “ignorant and stupid.”

Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper spilled the beans on Tuesday in an exchange with Joy Behar on The View that will undoubtedly make its way into the history books.
The question was whether the FBI had ordered undercover agents to “spy” on the Trump campaign in the spring and summer of 2016, well before Donald Trump had won the Republican nomination for president.
