Sergeant from viral ‘Humvee bomb’ incident given bad-conduct discharge

The 173rd Airborne Brigade soldier responsible for a 2016 “Humvee bomb” incident has been found guilty at a court-martial of destroying military property and giving a false official statement.

Sgt. John Skipper, 29, was dealt a bad-conduct discharge and reduction in grade to E-1 in Vilseck, Germany, this week for a stunt involving the destruction of three Humvees during a heavy drop training exercise. A jury concluded that Mr. Skipper intentionally cut parachute straps on three Humvees in Hohenfels Training Area, Germany, in April 2016, Stars and Stripes reported Wednesday.

“Oh! Yes! Yes! Yes!” one witness says as the Humvee makes impact — seemingly at terminal velocity — during a YouTube video viewed over 1.4 million times.

That individual, an observer trainer coach with the 7th ATC’s Joint Multinational Readiness Center, was previously given an administrative letter of reprimand.

Stars and Stripes noted that Mr. Skipper could have received a 10-year prison sentence, a dishonorable discharge and forfeiture of all pay and allowances under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Negligent destruction carries a maximum punishment of a year in prison, a bad-conduct discharge and forfeiture of all pay and allowances, the newspaper reported.

          • This happened in Germany. Can you imagine what the site damage penalties and rehabilitation standards must be like. Restoration costs will be easily over $50,000 per impact site.

Those Hummers were fully loaded with petrol, oil, and lubricants, all of which were driven into the ground with tremendous force. Just finding all of the scrap metal will be a challenge (good training for the mine-sweeping platoon).

How Skipper avoided hard prison time I do not know.

Also, he should pay restitution for the losses and damages he caused, including site cleanup.

  2. NR: If this article doen’t scare the everliving crap out of you, it should. These digital home assistants are one of the most intrusive and data-scraping devices ever invented. While this is not precisely the IoT (Internet of Things), it is a precursor and merits extreme wariness

Amazon’s Alexa will be built into all new homes from Lennar

VALLEJO, Calif. — The nation’s largest home builder is betting voice-activated digital assistants and smart devices will become as expected in a new home as garages now are.

Lennar announced Wednesday that standard features in its new homes will include built-in Wi-Fi, smart locks, doorbells, thermostats and lights — all controlled by Alexa, Amazon’s voice-activated digital assistant.

Each house will come with two Alexa-enabled smart speakers, an Echo Show and an Echo Dot. New homeowners will also get a free visit from an Amazon technician to help set everything up and teach them how to use it.

“This will be the hallmark of why we buy a new home,” said David Kaiserman, president of Lennar Ventures. “It’s an important step in the mass adoption of all these technologies.”
No other major builder has folded this still-evolving technology into all its homes. The announcement marks a major play to get what is still something of a cool, but not vital, technology into a broad swath of American homes.

It comes as Amazon, Google and Apple fight for market share in the smart speaker category. In 2018, about 18% of Americans will use a smart speaker at least once a month, digital marketing firm eMarketer found. Amazon holds 66.6% of the market and Google 29.5%. And it’s a bet that homeowners will find the convenience of a ready-made smart home outweighs any misgivings they have about giving one tech company even more information about their daily habits.

To get the word out to home buyers, Lennar and Amazon on Wednesday will open eight model homes across the country featuring the built-in technology.

    • Just imagine: big Brother could really “get to you” by making all of the “help” become annoying and in fact it is possible you could lose control of your own home to noxious alien invaders(sounds familiar) if you allow such to enter your borders. ? an interesting movie script coming up about this soon no doubt. Any Takers?

      • There was a show about something like that on Stichers a couple of years ago, no personal assistant but a smart home that was hacked in an attempt to murder a man.

      • an interesting movie script coming up about this soon no doubt. Any Takers?

It’s been done, at least in short story form and television. A brief and exceptionally prophetic tale, it first appeared in the classic 1953 fantasy anthology, “Golden Apples of the Sun”, by the master scribe, Ray Bradbury.

Titled, The Murderer, it details the tribulations of a man who is finally fed up with mobile and domestic electronics, especially so-called “smart appliances” that talk to you.

This episode of Ray Bradbury Theater appeared on cable television in 1990 and is absolutely visionary with respect to how much electronics and smart devices would come to rule our daily lives.

Especially meaningful was the protagonist’s mention of “passive listening”. Like exposure to passive smoking, when in public, we are forced tohear everyone else’s conversations, music, video games—much less the Muzak™ and incessant public address announcements, both indoors and out, that continually bombard us.

Then there’s the leaf blowers …

Video episode of “The Murderer” to follow. At less than 25 minutes, this little jewel is well worth watching.

  4. Witch Doctors Using Juju Magic to Turn Women Into Prostitutes on Trial in Sweden (sputniknews, May 10, 2018)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201805101064316546-sweden-voodoo-magic/

“The district court in Malmö, often touted as “Sweden’s most multicultural city,” will next hear a case involving human traffickers allegedly using a Nigerian brand of witchcraft to force women into selling sex.

Two female victims from Nigeria will testify in a case of human trafficking and prostitution, involving juju, a Nigerian variant of voodoo particularly popular in the Edo State from where many sex slaves trafficked into Europe come, the daily newspaper Expressen reported.

“The traffickers have realized that by utilizing juju priests they can keep the women in obedience,” criminal investigator Simon Häggström from the National Operative Department told Expressen. “They really believe in two parallel worlds, one visible and one invisible. The invisible world consists of good and evil spirits that can affect one’s everyday life,” he added.

The two women who will testify about human trafficking and forced prostitution claim to have both undergone a juju ritual, for which they received €45,000 and €40,000 ($53,000 and $47,000) respectively and took an oath to repay the money through work in Sweden, without fully understanding how large the sums actually are.

One of the women told the police that during the ritual she was made to eat raw chicken heart, was cut on the chest with a razorblade and had animal blood rubbed into the wounds.

The Nigerian women were promised regular jobs in Europe, such as waitresses or au pair girls. Instead, however, they were forced into prostitution. Should they ever break the oath or go to the police, the juju magic would punish them and their families with sickness and death, they were assured…”

“People promoting “hostility” towards a religion or the transgendered online could get much harsher sentences, of up to six years in jail, especial if they have a large online audience according to new proposals.

The Sentencing Council for England and Wales has drafted changes to public order offences, including anyone perceived as targeting online a “protected characteristics” including “race; sex; disability; age; sexual orientation; religion or belief; pregnancy and maternity; and gender reassignment.”

The most severe punishments will be handed to those “in a position of trust, authority or influence and abuses their position to stir up hatred,” such as political leaders or figureheads and anyone whose offences are “persistent.”

If an “offender was a member of, or was associated with, a group promoting hostility based on race or religion,” their sentence will also be harsher.

  6. Migrant Syrian ‘Jumped From Bushes to Attack Woman Before Attempting to Drown Her in River’ (breitbart, May 10, 2018)
    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/05/10/france-syrian-knife-attack-woman-drown/

“Police in Strasbourg have arrested a 33-year-old migrant after he reportedly attacked a woman who was walking home and tried to drown her in the River Ill, local media reports.

The 35-year-old victim was walking home on one of the French city’s cycle paths on Friday night when a man with a knife reportedly jumped out from bushes near the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.

After making his presence known to the woman, he “immediately proceeded to threaten her with a blade”, according to regional newspaper DNA, reporting that the man ignored his victim’s pleas and held the knife below her eye.

A struggle then ensued, during which the attacker pushed the woman into the River Ill and held her head under the water in an apparent attempt to drown his victim.

Following his arrest not long after the incident, police were unable to verify the identity of the suspect, who declared himself to be 33-years-old and Syrian.

Despite “overwhelming evidence” including his having been in possession of a knife and wearing wet clothes when arrested, the man denies being the author of any crimes against the woman.

The incident is the latest in a string of attacks involving migrants targeting lone females for attack in Strasbourg which have been reported in recent weeks including a sexual assault at the city’s train station at the end of April.

A 20-year-old Albanian asylum seeker was spared jail after groping a woman who was waiting in the hall of the station. “I saw her extravagant tattoos and I liked them,” he said in court, where he made a promise never to repeat the behaviour.

And another attack carried out in mid-April saw a young woman thrown to the ground, sexually assaulted and strangled to the point that she lost consciousness. According to local media, the victim was crossing through a small park on her way home, wearing flip flops, when a 25-year-old asylum seeker from Sudan deliberately tripped her over.”

    • …the victim was crossing through a small park on her way home, wearing flip flops, when a 25-year-old asylum seeker from Sudan deliberately tripped her over.”

Gotta be nine kinds of stupid for an unescorted woman to wear “flip flops”. Good luck running in those should the need arise. Not much protection should the assailant decide to simply smash your arch with a downward stomp of his foot.

I would never dream of wearing flip flops in public. Birkenstocks are right out, too. As a man, closed-toe shoes are the norm (a holdover from my construction and laboratory work).

      • But why would that detail of the woman’s apparel be revealed?
        To mitigate the crime?
        – – sloppy dresser, not worth sympathy
        – – lewd footwear, made herself a target
        Subtle warning?
Imprudent choice of shoe for today’s urban challenges – take heed, Dear Reader

        • But why would that detail of the woman’s apparel be revealed?
          To mitigate the crime?

It may have been the reporter’s way of subtly warning women that inadequate footwear may (no longer) be a good choice.

The alternative is far more diabolical in that the writer may have been highlighting exactly who the soft targets are.

Rest assured, this is not an attempt to Blame the Victim™. The woman should be able to stroll around in a bikini. Sadly, nothing of the sort applies any longer and sensible choices in shoes are just one part of preparing yourself for unexpectedly adverse encounters.

  7. EU Tells Italy ‘Priority is to Help Migrants’, Blasts ‘Deplorable’ Anti-Trafficking Crackdown (breitbart, May 10, 2018)
    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/05/10/eu-italy-deplorable-priority-help-migrants/

“The European Commission has slammed Italian efforts to clamp down on open borders NGOs ferrying people to Europe as “deplorable”, insisting the nation should prioritise ‘helping migrants’.

Brussels’ appeal came amidst a three-day standoff which saw people “stranded” at sea for three days while activists complained that authorities in Italy were preventing them from delivering migrants to Europe.

While it eventually gave permission to the boat of 105 migrants to dock on Tuesday night, the Italian government had previously issued a statement saying the Libyan coast guard had assumed coordination of the rescue, but that Proactiva Open Borders had proceeded autonomously with the rescue “considering the situation to be critical.”

The Spanish NGO, which is devoted almost entirely to ferrying people from the third world to Europe, said Libya was not a safe place to send the migrants, who reportedly hail from countries including Egypt, Nigeria, Morocco, Bangladesh, Ghana, Pakistan, Sudan, Libya, Eritrea and Senegal.

Responding to the stand-off, Commission spokesman Natasha Bertaud told Italy that “the priority is to help migrants’”, stating: ‘”It is with this spirit that we launch an appeal, both to Italian and British authorities, for a quick solution so that migrants can land safely as soon as possible’.”

“European ships, including Italian ones, act in the full respect of international law and according to the principle of non-rejections: they never take migrants back to Libya or third countries’,” she added.

Italy seized one of Proactiva’s “rescue ships” for weeks earlier this year, accusing the group of promoting illegal immigration before a judge last month ordered its release, against the wishes of prosecutors.

Staff at Proactiva, which was awarded the European Citizens’ Prize by EU Parliament in 2016, are still facing charges of criminal association and aiding illegal immigration.

Groups operating in the Mediterranean, several of which have ties to open borders-backing billionaire George Soros, claim that their actions in ferrying migrants to Europe are necessary to save lives.

But the number of deaths at sea plunged dramatically when NGOs suspended their operations on the migration route last year after Italy introduced a code of conduct, as Breitbart London reported last summer.”

“Dozens of Islamic militant prisoners who took over a police detention center near Indonesia’s capital and killed five officers surrendered to police Thursday, the country’s top security minister said.

The riot erupted late Tuesday at the headquarters of the elite Mobile Brigade police in Depok, on Jakarta’s southern outskirts, where four days earlier authorities arrested three militants they accuse of planning to attack police.

Most of the prisoners surrendered before dawn Thursday following an ultimatum from security personnel, said Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security Wiranto, who goes by one name. About 10 inmates refused to give up but shortly were subdued when police fired smoke bombs and tear gas.

He said those involved were “detained terrorists.”

“They committed cruelty by seizing weapons, holding hostages, torturing and even killing the officers in cruel and vile manners, beyond the limits of humanity,” Wiranto said at a news conference.

    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/turkey-air-force-personnel-held-links-cleric-55062415

“Turkey’s state-run news agency says police have detained 65 people, most of them former air force personnel, suspected of links to a network led by U.S.-based cleric whom Turkey accuses of masterminding a failed coup attempt in 2016.

Anadolu Agency said prosecutors in the western city of Izmir issued arrest warrants for a total of 96 people. Police have so far detained 65 in operations in 15 provinces and are still searching for the others.

Separately, arrest warrants were issued for 93 employees of a Gulen-linked school, the agency reported.

Turkey declared a state of emergency and launched a massive crackdown after the coup, resulting in some 50,000 arrests. More than 110,000 people were sacked from state jobs, including in the military.

Gulen has denied involvement in the failed coup.”

    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/italian-anti-terror-ops-target-14-supporting-war-55062312

“Italian police have launched anti-terrorism operations across the country in the hunt for 14 suspects linked to a network supporting Islamic extremists in Syria.

Prosecutors said Thursday that police were exercising arrest warrants for four suspected militants, one Syrian and three Moroccans, in Sardinia; and elsewhere in the country for 10 Syrians suspected of money laundering and other financial crimes linked to terror financing.

Italy’s top anti-terror prosecutor Federico Cafiero de Raho told Sky TG24 that the suspects belong to a single cell that was “collecting and distributing considerable funds to Syria to support the war.” He said all were legal residents of Italy.

Police video showed officers exercising the arrest warrants in the pre-dawn hours. It was not immediately clear how many people had been taken into custody.”

ISRAEL has blasted Iran’s bases in Syria with 70 missiles killing “at least 23 fighters” in revenge for rocket strikes on Golan Heights.

Jerusalem (AFP) – Israel carried out widespread deadly raids against what it said were Iranian targets in Syria on Thursday after rocket fire towards its forces which it blamed on Iran, marking a sharp escalation between the two enemies.

The incident came after weeks of rising tensions and followed US President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw from a key 2015 Iran nuclear deal on Tuesday, a move Israel had long advocated.

The 16-year-old, who friends told WJZ Investigator Mike Hellgren went by Streetz or Jordan, was shot near a basketball court at the Mary Rodman Recreation Center in the southwest part of the city Tuesday around 8:20 p.m.

  17. This Cryptocurrency Billionaire Is Trying to Split California Into Three States
Tim Draper has a lot going against him.

Tim Draper, the billionaire venture capitalist and legend in the world of cryptocurrency, has an idea: Let’s split California into three separate states.

There are at least five reasons why this idea is doomed from the start, but first, here’s his case:

The way Draper sees it, smaller states would be run by more efficient and less bureaucratic governments as they compete for residents and business. Education, safety, infrastructure and health care would improve. Taxes would be lower. And the investor who made a name for himself funding tech giants like Hotmail, Skype and Tesla Inc. says he “won’t have to think anymore about moving myself, Draper Associates, the Draper Venture Network and Draper University out of California.”

  18. Israel takes it to Iran in Syria
    By J.E. Dyer May 10, 2018

Iranian forces in southern Syria launched 20 rockets at Israel in the Golan Heights on the night of 9 May (10 May in Israel). Now Israel appears to have launched a counter operation, whose goal is probably to significantly disable Iranian capabilities in Syria. The scope of the targeting, just in the first few hours, indicates a broad-scale, preemptive interdiction.

This operations quick-look will probably be overtaken by events within 24 hours. What is important to establish now is the apparent character of the operation. In my post on the last Israeli strike, on 8 May, I concluded that if Iran didn’t pull in her horns in Syria, Israel would keep the preemptive interdiction going. That looks like what’s happening.

    https://libertyunyielding.com/2018/05/10/israel-takes-it-to-iran-in-syria/

    • She doesn’t think that Israel is through hitting Iran but she doesn’t expect this to turn into a larger conflict. She makes the point that Israel degrading the Iranian assets in Syria will further the US policy goals and will make the neighboring Arabs happy, they will growl for the cameras but will be happy Iran has been cut down.

      • …they will growl for the cameras but will be happy Iran has been cut down.

In this one little sentence fragments lies a tremendous part of the problem.

All this “growl for the cameras” garbage merely perpetuates a growing global perception of Islam as a monolithic entity. This in turn facilitates acceptance of the view (however true or not) that all Muslims are hostile towards non-Muslim people.

These are no small matters as it is exactly such false projections that can drive subtle but very tidal shifts in public opinion. As an example, it seems as though MbS is desperately seeking to distance Saudi Arabia from this sort of hidebound, “ummah-centric” mentality.

We’ll see if he can beat the clock. The sand (so to speak) is running out for the MME (Muslim Middle East), as the pretenses and hypocrisies slowly begin to choke off any outside support or toleration of Islam’s barbarity.

        • The growling is more sincere than any friendly gestures. If anything, J.E. Dyer understates the essential jew-hate in Muslim countries. That the sons of apes and pigs exist as sovereign people in their own state is deeply shameful to virtually every one of them.

Egypt and Jordan could not survive without Israel’s constant, quiet help. Yet even in consultations at the executive level, the dictators do little to hide their distaste for Israeli prime ministers.

They have total control over public discourse, yet the media is as toxic as it was in 1973. “Palestine” has served as the technical justification for the persistence of Nazi-style coverage. They praise Zionist accomplishments only to backhand their own governments or to berate Arab foes.

True, they hate each other and differences are vast. But non-Arab Malaysia and Pakistan – judenrein – are even more rabid in genocidal expression. Look at MEMRI for translations, if you can stomach them.

Part of the reason La Reconquista took so long is because Christian kinglets made alliances with their tardish counterparts. The skirmishes varied in intensity, “peaceful coexistence” always seemed assured – for a while. Till the “moderate Muslims” were made to see the light by their pious brethren.

It’s not the first time that someone named Michael Cohen was mistaken for Donald Trump’s lawyer.

Michael Avenatti, porn star Stormy Daniels’s lawyer, released a seven-page dossier on Tuesday containing a list of payments purportedly made to Michael Cohen, the president’s sttorney.

But there is one problem with the document: Two of the allegedly “fraudulent” payments were made to men named Michael Cohen who have no affiliation with Trump.

Avenatti’s report includes a section listing “possible fraudulent and illegal financial transactions” that involve Trump’s lawyer. One of the payments is a $4,250 wire transfer from a Malaysian company, Actuarial Partners, to a bank in Toronto.

The other is a $980 transfer from a Kenyan bank to Bank Hapoalim — the largest bank in Israel.

  20. Woman attempting to board flight to Nigeria with $41K in cash stopped by customs: Anyone surprised?
By Howard Portnoy May 10, 2018

As presented by Washington Post reporter Meagan Flynn, the story sounds at first blush like another airport outrage. This time the “victim” was a 59-year-old registered nurse, originally from Nigeria and now living in Katy, Texas, where in the 24 years since becoming a U.S. citizen she managed to save tens of thousands of dollars toward a beneficent goal: to return to her African homeland and open a medical clinic.

Last October, the woman, Anthonia Nwaorie, was on the verge of realizing that dream. Then agents with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at the airport in Houston stepped in to quash it. As Flynn tells it, Nwaorie “had more than $37,000 in her carry-on bag and $4,000 in her purse”:

  21. Sweden To Reconsider Not Studying Relation Between Migration and Crime Following ‘High Demand’ (breitbart, May 10, 2018)
    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/05/10/sweden-consider-study-relation-migration-crime-due-high-demand/

“The Swedish criminal statistics agency Brå has announced it will be considering an in-depth study on the relationship between immigration and crime claiming there has been a recent surge in demand for data on the subject.

The agency made the announcement this week saying that the recent political climate has made them reconsider publishing data on the relationship between migration and crime for the first time in over a decade.

According to the agency previous studies had shown, “a larger proportion of foreign-born people appear to be suspected as compared to the proportion of native-born. The overwhelming majority of foreigners have not been suspected of crimes,” and added that they did not consider another study to yield and fresh data on the subject.

Brå reiterated previous claims that the gathering of ethnic and migration background data of suspects was not part of their mission and that neither the government nor the judiciary had requested any new studies on the subject.

“It can now be noted that the demand in the social debate on updated information on the relationship between crimes on the one hand and descent and migration, on the other hand, is so strong that the authority needs to consider the possibilities again,” the agency said…”

  22. Belgian Imams Being Trained With Anti-Semitic, Radical Islamic Literature (breitbart, May 10, 2018)
    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/05/10/belgian-imams-trained-anti-semitic-radical-islamic-literature/

“Leaked documents from the Belgian Unit for Coordination and Threat Analysis (OCAM) have revealed that future Belgian Imams are being trained with materials containing radical Islamic policies including persecuting homosexuals engaging in armed jihad.
The documents, which were leaked to Belgian journalist Jean-Pierre Martin, contain excerpts from training manuals and textbooks used by the Islamic and Cultural Center of Belgium (CICB) Belgian broadcaster RTL reports.

According to the leaked report, “the teaching of the Muslim religion of the Arab section of the Islamic and Cultural Center of Belgium is in no way adapted to the Belgian or European reference framework. Salafist ideas and doctrines that encourage the rejection of any different ideas and fundamental constitutional rights and freedoms.”

“Many mosques and Islamic centres in Belgium still have in their libraries and as part of their training activities textbooks and texts presenting a problematic content in terms of radicalism, xenophobia and anti-Semitism,” the report adds.

The CICB is also known for running the Great Mosque of Brussels, which until March of this year, was owned by the Saudi Arabian government. The Belgians seized control of the mosque following allegations that Imams were preaching radical Salafist teachings, which the leaked documents confirm.

The report is not the first OCAD document leaked that has warned of growing radicalism in Belgium. Earlier this year a document from 2016 was published by Belgian media and warned that “a growing number of mosques and Islamic centres in Belgium are under the influence of a Wahhabi, Salafist proselytising apparatus. More and more mosques in Brussels, Antwerp and Mechelen are strictly Wahhabist.”

For years the Belgian capital has been known as a hub of radical Islamic extremism, especially in migrant-heavy areas like the notorious district of Molenbeek where Bataclan attacker Salah Abdeslam was able to hide out for months following the 2015 attack.

Radical Islamic links have also been found in 51 nonprofits based in Brussels according to a police investigation last year. All of the nonprofits were located in Molenbeek.”

“London Mayor Sadiq Khan has launched a new initiative, allegedly directly supported by the European Union (EU), which frames Brexit as harmful, as well as a cause of “division” and anti-migrant sentiment.

The ‘Common Future’ event organised by ‘My Life My Say’ (MLMS) was hosted in London City Hall, where the Mayor and London Assembly work, and “wouldn’t be possible” without the support of the European Commission, according to organisers.

Prominent Jeremy Corbyn supporter and former National Union of Students officer Shelly Asquith reported that Mayor Khan told the audience: “Real leadership isn’t about playing on people’s fears, but about listening to and addressing them,” as well as blasting: “Let’s stop playing on people’s fears and understand them.”

Khan Tweeted after the event: “Proud to support the youth-led organisation @mylifemysay & see them continue to go from strength to strength. Young people are the future of our city and country – and @mylifemysay’s work to secure a better Brexit for young people is both crucial and inspiring.”

He added: “Together we sent a clear message to the thousands of young Londoners who are EU citizens: you are Londoners, you are welcome here and you deserve a say in your future.”…”

  28. reuters – Turkey acts against French studies at universities amid koran row

ANKARA (Reuters) – Turkey on Thursday suspended the opening of any new French studies departments at its universities, an education official said, amid a growing row with France over a call there for some passages to be removed from the Koran.

An official of Turkey’s Higher Education Board said Turkish universities would not open any new French departments and that 16 existing departments without enrolled students would not be allowed to admit any new students.

The 19 departments which currently have students enrolled will be allowed to admit new students and continue the academic year normally, the official said.

The move to impose limitations on French departments was part of a “reciprocity” relationship with France, the official said, adding that there were no bachelor’s programs offering Turkish literature in France.

Relations between Ankara and Paris – already tense over differences on Syria – have been further strained after an open letter was published in France in which 300 people called for certain verses to be removed from the Muslim holy book.

The signatories, who included former President Nicolas Sarkozy, argued the verses “spread violent and antisemitic ideas”. The move drew a scathing response from President Tayyip Erdogan and ministers from his Islamist-rooted ruling AK Party.

“Is it your place to make such remarks? We see this only as a reflection of your ignorance. You are no different than Daesh (Islamic State) … No matter how much you attack what’s sacred to us, we will not do the same. We are not despicable,” Erdogan said in a speech.

France has been one of the most vocal critics of Turkey’s military operation in northern Syria against the Kurdish YPG, which Turkey considers a terrorist organization.

Ankara has said that a French pledge to help stabilize a region controlled by Kurdish-dominated forces amounted to support for terrorism and could make France a “target of Turkey”.

    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/05/10/europe-faces-massive-wave-of-freed-terror-convicts/

“Over the next two years, terrorism convicts will walk free from European prisons by the dozens — more than 200 inmates who largely formed the first wave of jihadis streaming to Syria and Iraq, dreaming of an Islamic caliphate not yet established.

In all, about 12,000 Europeans left to fight with the Islamic State group and al-Qaida beginning in 2011; about a third of those are now believed to be back home, mostly living freely. Some are awaiting trial, but most never even faced serious charges due to insufficient evidence.

And many more were thwarted from traveling to the war zone entirely, left to stew and, sometimes, plot at home.

How much of a threat do these avowed extremists living throughout Europe pose, and how equipped are authorities to deal with them? The tactics thus far have been, at best, improvised.

The impending releases of jihadi veterans could be considered “a fourth wave of returnees,” according to Rik Coolsaet, a scholar at Belgium’s Egmont Institute who has done extensive research on violent extremism.

“There are a number of personal frustrations and motivations that have pushed the kids in their journey to ISIS that we now have to address,” Coolsaet said. “If we don’t address it now, the environment will remain as conducive for this kind of jihadi violence.”…”

  31. McCain confirms his role in Democrats’ fictional Russian dossier

Sen. John McCain’s upcoming book details how he handed to the FBI the infamous “dossier” of unproven allegations about President Trump, and defends the act as patriotic “duty.”

According to a report Wednesday in the Daily Beast, Mr. McCain acknowledges in his upcoming book “The Restless Wave,” that he met personally with then-FBI director James P. Comey to give him the salacious material.

“I agreed to receive a copy of what is now referred to as ‘the dossier,’” the Arizona Republican wrote. “I reviewed its contents. The allegations were disturbing, but I had no idea which if any were true. I could not independently verify any of it, and so I did what any American who cares about our nation’s security should have done.”

He said he went to see Mr. Comey “at his earliest convenience, handed him the dossier, explained how it had come into my possession.”

“I said I didn’t know what to make of it, and I trusted the FBI would examine it carefully and investigate its claims. With that, I thanked the director and left. The entire meeting had probably not lasted longer than ten minutes. I did what duty demanded I do,” Mr. McCain wrote, according to the Daily Beast, which received advance copies of the book, due out May 22.

  32. Are We Waking Up from the Diplomacy Delusion?
The real path to a more peaceful world.
    May 10, 2018
    Bruce Thornton

President Trump this week withdrew the United States from the disastrous nuclear deal with Iran. It’s about time. In the long history of delusional diplomatic agreements, Obama’s pact with the genocidal mullahs to halt their development of nuclear weapons was was one of the worst since Neville Chamberlain handed Czechoslovakia over to Nazi Germany. Like Trump’s abandoning of the feckless Paris Climate Accords, ending the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action may contribute to a needed reevaluation of the West’s antique paradigm of diplomatic engagement as the best way to stop aggression and protect our country’s interests and security.

The Europeans, of course, are unhappy. They’ve been doing a bustling business with Iran ever since Obama delivered $1.7 billion in cash on pallets as the payola to the mullahs for going along with the charade. At home, the evangelical internationalists of both parties and the foreign policy establishment are caterwauling, with grim predictions of doom of the sort we heard about North Korea until Kim, his mind apparently focused by Trump’s tough talk, agreed to meet with the president. They all assert that Trump’s move is counterproductive, that under the watchful eye of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the agreement was working and that Iran had stopped it progress. Not counting ballistic missiles, of course. Now, they warn, Iran is free to start the program back up and obtain a weapon sooner than they would have if the deal remained.

    • At home, the evangelical internationalists of both parties and the foreign policy establishment are caterwauling, with grim predictions of doom of the sort we heard about North Korea until Kim, his mind apparently focused by Trump’s tough talk, agreed to meet with the president.

While Trump has done an admirable job of dealing with North Korea, it is quite possible that Pyongyang administered its own coup de grace.

It appears that the collapse at North Korea’s Punggye-ri nuclear facility was far worse than first reported. Some 200 people perished in the tunnels although the party line is that the collapse took place during construction of a new underground facility at the test site.

Seeing as how this seventh nuclear test was of a much more powerful 100 kiloton hydrogen bomb, a far more likely explanation is that the NORKs overstressed their containment arrangements.

Earlier reports detailed how a portion of the mountain containing this buried facility had fractured or collapsed. Rarely does that happen “during construction of a new underground facility”. There also were accounts of radioactive releases associated with this geological disturbance.

Back to square one. Quite recently, Jong Un was summoned to Beijing for a little tete-à-tete with Xi. It’s impossible to believe that all of their talk centered on World Cup contenders.

Far more likely—due to the radioactive venting at Punggye-ri—Jong Un has been given marching orders to proceed apace with denuclearization. I can well imagine that the alternative presented to him was a toe tag.

    Not just treasonous, stupid.
    May 10, 2018
    Daniel Greenfield

Quick, what’s the Dem position on Syria? What about China?

Don’t bother. There was once a time when Democrats could discuss Syria, North Korea, the South China Sea, economic tensions in the European Union and the future of Africa. But that was before Trump.

Democrats don’t have a foreign policy anymore. They have a Trump policy.

Their only position on Syria or North Korea is that whatever President Trump is doing, is wrong. If Trump isn’t focused on a country and it can’t be tied into their Russia conspiracy theory, the Dems don’t care.

And the flip side of this dangerous geopolitical illiteracy is a new tendency to treat countries as enemies or friends based entirely on their relationship with President Trump. It’s not only Russia, which at least is actually hostile, but allies like Israel, the UAE and the Saudis whom the Democrats now obsessively hate.

This hostility isn’t based on any figment of a national interest. Instead if Trump is on a friendly terms with a country and its leaders, the Democrats decide that it’s an enemy state.

  35. Susan Rice’s Tears For the Disastrous Iran Deal
Former Obama national security adviser defends the indefensible.
    May 10, 2018
    Joseph Klein

Former President Barack Obama’s national security adviser and ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice has penned an op-ed column for the New York Times entitled “Trump’s Most Foolish Decision Yet.” Ms. Rice, who previously counseled the Trump administration to “tolerate” North Korea as a nuclear power, has now outdone herself with her most foolish op-ed column yet. She condemned President Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Obama administration’s disastrous nuclear deal with Iran, known formally as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, or JCPOA for short. Ms. Rice was echoing the laments of her boss Obama and Obama’s feckless Secretary of State John Kerry.

Susan Rice argued in her op-ed column that the “U.S. is about to violate a nuclear deal that has worked.” She is wrong. It is the Iranian regime, not the United States, that lied its way into the JCPOA and has been in violation since. And the JCPOA has only worked for the Iranian regime, which reaped the benefits of sanctions relief and cash infusions upfront while making temporary loophole-ridden “commitments.” At best, all this fundamentally flawed deal has done is to create a pathway for Iran’s eventual attainment of nuclear weapons and the ballistic missiles capable of delivering them. In about ten years or so, if Ms. Rice is still dispensing advice, she will be counseling the president in office at that time to be prepared to “tolerate” a nuclear-armed Iran. That is what happens when all that a foreign policy consists of is leading from behind, strategic patience and kicking the can down the road.

Leftist billionaire George Soros is injecting big money into a San Diego district attorney race as part of his larger effort to install extremist prosecutors across America who will refuse to enforce inconvenient laws that liberals and progressives don’t like.

Soros, who turns 88 in August, has been underwriting district attorney races across America in an effort to dismantle the criminal justice system, empty the prisons, and sabotage the enforcement of immigration laws. Soros supports state and local efforts to resist U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and wants to cripple police in order to advance the neo-Marxist abstraction known as social justice that simplistically breaks the world down into race, class, and sex or gender. Radicals claim that American laws and institutions are inherently corrupt and that these systems protect, for example, wealthy, white, native-born, non-disabled males at the expense of everyone else.

Getting people who share Soros’s worldview into public office at every level is key to promoting his ugly vision of how America, which he calls “the main obstacle to a stable and just world order,” should look.

Months ago Soros saturation-bombed his Open Society Foundations philanthropy with an $18 billion donation, likely guaranteeing OSF will remain one of the most important players in left-wing activism for decades to come. According to the New York Times, this was “one of the largest transfers of wealth ever made by a private donor to a single foundation.” (Click here for a brief video primer on Soros narrated by yours truly.
