    • Supporters Climb Border Fence as Migrant Caravan Prepares to Cross Into U.S. to Seek Asylum

      Less than 200 Central Americans, part of a caravan of asylum seekers that traveled through Mexico to the border with San Diego, left a cross-border rally Sunday afternoon, prepared to turn themselves in to U.S. authorities.

      Before they could cross the border, however, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials said the border was at capacity for people without appropriate entry documentation.

      “Depending upon port circumstances at the time of arrival, those individuals may need to wait in Mexico as CBP officers work to process those already within our facilities,” CBP Commissioner Kevin McAleenan said. “As sufficient space and resources become available, CBP officers will be able to take additional individuals into the port for processing. CBP will communicate with Mexican authorities for operational awareness on this issue of capacity within CBP facilities as appropriate.”

        More migrants from the caravan gathering on the Mexican side of the southern border are now planning a mass-application for asylum.

        Hundreds of migrants gathered at border checkpoints in the Mexican border city of Tijuana Sunda

        The majority of migrants are traveling as “families,” and are seeking to cross into the U.S. illegally.

        The caravan originated from Central America, and traveled 2,500 miles through Mexico’

        U.S. officials, including Attorney General Jeff Sessions, have reiterated the organized onslaught of migrants is an attempt to undermine U.S. immigration laws.

    The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that missile strikes on arms depots in northern Syria had killed 26 servicemen fighting alongside government forces, most of those killed were Iranians. However, the Iranian Tasnim news agency, citing an unnamed source, has denied the fact of missiles hitting Iran’s base in Syria, saying that “all these reports over attack on an Iranian military base in Syria and the martyrdom of several Iranian military advisers in Syria are baseless.”

    An opposition source told Reuters that an army base, which was hit by a missile attack, was used as a recruitment centre for Iranian-backed militias who fight alongside forces of President Bashar al-Assad.

  7. Two Suicide Blasts Hit Kabul, 25 People Killed, Including 6 Journalists (sputniknews, Apr 30, 2018)

    “Journalists gathered to cover an explosion that had struck the Afghan capital earlier, when another deadly blast occurred.

    Spokesperson for the health ministry confirmed that 5 journalists for local media along with the AFP photographer are among 25 people killed in double suicide blasts in the Afghan capital. Injured toll from the Kabul attack stands at 45, according to city’s police spokesman.

    According to French news agency Agence France-Presse (AFP), the second explosion in Kabul had claimed the life of one of its photographers, Shah Marai. The agency also said that journalists of TOLOnews, 1TV and Al Jazeera were also among the casualties of the blast.

    The Daesh terrorist groups has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

    Afghanistan’s President Asharf Ghani has vehemently condemned the terrorist attacks in Kabul, calling the blasts, which targeted “innocent civilians, worshippers inside the mosques, national and democratic processes, reporters and freedom of speech,” “war crimes.”.

    The first explosion took place early on Monday in the Shashdarak area of the Afghan capital close to intelligence service buildings and foreign diplomatic missions. The blast left four people dead and injured five, according to the Afghan Interior Ministry’s spokesman.

    Half an hour later, a second explosion occured beside journalists who had gathered to report on the first blast.

    Earlier in the day, a police officer was reportedly killed and five persons injured following a mine explosion in the country’s Nangarhar province.”

    “Some of those in police detention have been held for more than three months,” UNHCR said in a statement. “Conditions are dismal […] the hundreds of people kept include pregnant women, very young children and people in need of medical and psychosocial care.”

    “THE ARAB world faces a second wave of revolutions just eight years after the Arab Spring due to uncontrolled urbanisation, critical unemployment and financial pressures, according to experts.

    Arab and Middle Eastern commentators said a second wave of revolts was “inevitable” as key socio-economic factors which spurred the revolutions between December 2010 and December 2012 still exist.

    Mohamed Mahjoub Haroon, Professor of Social Science at the University of Khartoum, said: “Massive uncontrolled urbanisation, pressure on the job markets are, among other socio-economic factors, the leading causes behind greater expectations of the youth in the Arab societies.”

    Mr Haroon noted uncontrolled urbanisation, economic stagnation and market forces were the three central socio-economic forces which caused the Arab Spring to spread across numerous countries in North Africa and the Middle East.

    He added that as long as these factors continue to exist, so too will the divides within Arab nations and the desire among their citizens to seek political change.

    Hmoud al-Olimat, a professor of sociology at the University of Qatar, agreed with Mr Haroon in his belief that socio-economic factors are pushing the Arab world in the direction of further unrest.

    He noted unless social and political reforms are introduced in the region, the ruling powers will witness a new wave of revolutions and violence.

    The professor also criticised conservative Arab monarchies which sought to consolidate their power following the previous revolts and further reverse progress in their countries.

    He argued once citizens have witnessed change in these ultra-conservative states and have broken the barrier of fear, revolutions will become inevitable despite a pushback by counter-revolutionary forces.

    Speaking at a media conference in Qatar’s capital Doha, commentators also noted the high percentage of young individuals in these countries, with an estimated 400 million people below the age of 25, will have a significant impact on the development of the Arab world.

      Many moons ago I worked as a flight nurse ….there was a small village in north of Kujjuak where dogs 200’s and more were brought by boat and left on a small island, without food in early summer . The dogs who survived this ordeal (no food) would come back to the village when the water were frozen. The dogs could not be friendly . To much abuse, suffering and misery . Dogs are no longer use for transportation because now they have “skidoo” provided by the generous government . You see skidoo abandonned everywhere because they runned out of gaz or mechanic failure.
      The UN is a useless, corrupted entity that perpetuated misery all over the world under the false idea of helping.

One of the reasons for the American Revolution was Britain trying to deny the American Colonies the right to trade with overseas nations. The War if 1812 was all about freedom of the seas and the right to trade in foreign nations, the US has always been a foreign trading nation. We are self sufficient in some things (Energy to name one) but dependent on foreign trade for other raw materials.

      We need a free and independent Europe to help insure that foreign trade is possible.

    Berlin. Last year, 8.5 percent of all suspected crime suspects were immigrants, according to a media report. This corresponds to 167,268 acts, as reported in the newspaper “Die Welt”, citing the still unpublished police crime statistics (PKS) for 2017.

    Officially, the data collection will be presented on 8 May. According to the figures, immigrants were also more frequently the victims of personal injury.

    According to the report, the PKS records asylum seekers, those who are tolerated [granted a suspension of deportation], those who are “outlawed” [ illicitly resident], subsidiary protected persons (usually civil war refugees) as well as the few contingent refugees who have been admitted to Germany via international aid programs.           • Did you know that during WWII the French Resistance had about 5000 people in France. Many more made their way out through Spain and went to Britain to join the Free French? The rest didn’t like the German occupation but felt that since the government and surrendered they had to as well. After liberation they were all members of the resistance. The trick will be to convince enough people to support liberating Europe, then once we have liberated Western Europe (again) getting a government set up that will ensure the kids are educated to seek freedom. With luck the peace and governments may last 30 to 50 years.

            There are a lot of signs that several of the European nations are on the verge of throwing out their corrupt governments and the Islamic invaders. We will have to see if these signs are right and if any of them succeed. If they do they will then have to work to free the rest of Europe, this may take time but this war will not end for the better part of a century, possibly longer.

            Don’t surrender Europe until we have to, granted they are flawed and that a strain of Jew Hatred runs thru a lot of their society. We kept it down for close to 50 years after the last war, maybe we can keep it down longer after this one.

            Also after the liberation there will probably be a lot of rearrangement in Europe, the various separatist movements may get their way (at least some of them).

              • Sounds good to me, by the time the shooting is over there will probably be a revival of semi feudalism in Europe and possibly in North America.

                During the American Revolution roughly 1/3rd of the people supported the revolution, but only about 3% fought. That support base was necessary for us to win. What we have to discover is do 25 to 33% of the people in Europe support freedom from Islam and Marxism. If they do they can (with help from us, weapons ammo etc) liberate their nations on their own. If there aren’t that many who support freedom the nations that liberate themselves will have to liberate the others.

  22. Get ready for the most expensive driving season in years

    Crude oil prices are at the highest level in more than three years and expected to climb higher, pushing up gasoline prices along the way.

    The U.S. daily national average for regular gasoline is now $2.81 per gallon. That’s up from about $2.39 per gallon a year ago, according to Oil Price Information Service. And across the U.S., 13 percent of gas stations are charging $3 per gallon or more, AAA said last week.

    “This will be the most expensive driving season since 2014,” said Tom Kloza, global head of energy analysis for Oil Price Information Service.

    The price of U.S. crude oil has been on a mostly steady incline since last June and last week hit $68.64, the highest since December 2014. Benchmark U.S. crude closed Friday at $68.10. Oil prices near $70 shouldn’t put the brakes on economic growth, however. While they’re boosting costs for some sectors of the economy, the energy sector and related industries have more money to spend on equipment and workers.

      Pierre Andurand, one of oil’s most prominent hedge fund managers, said the current reluctance of energy companies to invest in new production meant $300 a barrel was “not impossible” within a few years.

    Defense Secretary James Mattis pledges America’s “ironclad” commitment to defend South Korea, as negotiations advance to the next round of denuclearization of the peninsula.

    The Defense of Department said in a statement Saturday both the U.S. and South Korea reaffirmed continued close coordination to implement united nations security council resolutions.

    The DOD added the U.S. will support diplomatic efforts to achieve complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization.

    The renewed commitment comes on the same day president trump spoke with South Korean President Moon Jae-In.

  26. Fire and fury: Building toward a big Middle East inflection point in May 2018

    Two exceptionally important events are expected in mid-May 2018. One is the move of the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. The other is Donald Trump’s decision on the “Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action,” or JCPOA, on Iran’s nuclear weapons program, also called the “Iran nuclear deal.”

    Around these two anticipated events swirl a number of related regional dynamics. Not the least of them is the disintegrating political situation inside Iran.

    But the radical regime of the mullahs is not responding to that problem with any appearance of strategic foresight. The regime is focused instead on its power-projection campaigns around the Middle East, particularly in Syria, Iraq, and Yemen.

    As we near the middle of May, it looks as if Iran’s goal is to put an infrastructure of arms in place in Syria that will create an advantage over Israel, in time to secure that advantage before Trump makes his big moves. When Trump announces his plan for the JCPOA (the decision deadline is 12 May), and the U.S. embassy’s move to Jerusalem becomes a done deal (expected to be 14 May), Iran wants to have the means in place to create risk at will for Israel.

    Another way to put that: Iran wants to be able to pull a trigger when the Trump moves occur – or at least be able to credibly threaten to.

    • As she points out events in the Middle East are tied to what is going on in Korea and things happening there may be catching the Middle Eastern players by surprise the way we are being surprised. While Iran and North Korea are BFFs they many not know what is happening there until it happens and the same applies to Russia. Also China is probably keeping its plans quiet because of fear of what various nations that can best be described as either potential enemies or potential targets will learn.

      I don’t know what Kim is planning or when we will discover what he is planning. It may be that China has ordered him to give up his nuclear weapons and material in exchange for China guaranteeing that that the Kim Dynasty will survive.

      • I wouldn’t call it a dynasty but rather a hostage situation, under the thumb of the KPA (Korean People’s Army leaders). They were promised the good life in exchange for photo-ops and leader idolatry.

        Kim was schooled in Switzerland, thus Westernized. He loves cowboy movies. Look at all photos of Kim and he’s not truly a happy man, his wife neither. And suddenly they’re happy. What happened?

        Kim even went to China on his own? What happened? Kim went to South Korea on his own. What suddenly happened? Kim is suddenly walking around, free. What happened? Is it possible the KPA commanders were eliminated, thus freeing Kim?

        Notice we never saw Kim in situations other than official KPA situations.

          China’s only role was to shut down a multitude of serious North Korean (aka KPA) bank accounts and expulsion of North Korea workers. China complied with Trump to avoid economic strangulation.

          In exchange, Trump will give some credit to China. Which brings us back to the Art of the Deal. Trump is all economics.

  32. A female police officer was sexually assaulted as she tried to arrest a man on suspicion of attempted rape.

    She was one of two officers who came under attack while on patrol in Sheffield city centre in the early hours of Friday morning.

    South Yorkshire Police said they had responded to a report of an attempted rape on Scotland Street in the heart of the city.

    The suspect is said to have attacked both officers with a wooden “for sale” sign, before sexually assaulting one of them as she tried to arrest him.

    One of the officers was left with severe bruising, while both involved in the attack are said to be recovering at home.

    For the past two years, the Centre Communautaire Musulman de Montreal (CCMM) has rented an auditorium in an east-end high school, where it has held an annual event that celebrates the decision of girls aged nine to 12 to wear the hijab.

    The Commission Scolaire de Montréal — a French-language school board known by its acronym CSDM — had agreed this year to, once again, rent them the auditorium at Louis-Joseph-Papineau High School. The event was to take place Sunday.

    But on Thursday, the Journal de Montréal ran a column by Lise Ravary under the headline “Abuse of young girls at the CSDM.” It was critical of the school board’s decision to let the Muslim group use the auditorium.

    Ravary did not call the community centre seeking comment, said Racha, a member of the community centre authorized to speak on its behalf. CBC Montreal has agreed to withhold her family name as she fears backlash on social media

    The column was circulated on openly xenophobic Facebook sites, including one which translates as, “No to Quebecphobia and racism toward Quebecers.”

    On Friday, the school board sent an email to the CCMM informing them the rental contract was being cancelled.

    The email, which the CCMM shared with CBC Montreal, says the school board “was informed that protests are highly likely and the security of people could be compromised.”

    Members of the “Quebecphobia” Facebook group claimed credit for the school board’s decision. The school board did not return multiple requests for comment on Sunday.

    A second cancellation

    In the meantime, the Muslim community centre secured a room for Sunday’s event at the Chateau Royal, a reception hall in Laval.

    News of the change in location was also circulated on Facebook, this time by members of a group called Revolution PTRK, a breakaway faction of La Meute, the largest far-right group in the province.

    They referred to the event as a “pedophile ceremony” and encouraged followers to contact Chateau Royal.

    A spokesperson for the Muslim community centre said Chateau Royal informed them Saturday night, less than 24 hours before the event, that they too were cancelling the rental agreement.

    “They told us they were getting negative reviews and attention on Facebook. They were worried about their reputation,” said Racha.

    Chateau Royal did not respond Sunday to a request for comment.

    A member of Revolution PTRK celebrated the reception hall’s decision. “A big thank you to them,” the message said.

    ‘Quite frankly, no one cares’

    The CCMM decided, in the end, to hold the event Sunday evening at their offices in the borough of Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension. There was a small police presence outside.

    In the cramped space, dozens of community members turned out to watch songs, dances and a play performed by young girls who have decided to wear the hijab in recent months. Both boys and girls took part in the play.

    Yasmina Bahsoul, 13, participated in the ceremony last year and said the decision to wear the veil was her own.

    “I don’t care about the looks of others,” she added.

    The event has been held annually for close to a decade, and is one of the high points of the community centre’s social calendar, said Racha. The children spend three months practising their routines.

    She rejected the characterization of the event in the Journal de Montréal, which suggested the girls were being forced to wear the hijab for the rest of their lives.

    “Quite frankly, no one cares,” Racha said. “It’s like when you baptize a child. It’s a beautiful ceremony, but you don’t say the child will be forced to do something for the rest of their life.”

    She also took issue with the language used by the Journal de Montréal, including the use of the term “abuse” in the headline.

    “Look how lightly the term of abuse is being used in this situation,” Racha said.

    “Oppression is a serious issue. We’re talking about clothing here.”

  49. A European Commission poll has found that a strong majority of people in France, Germany, and Sweden believe the integration of migrants has failed in their country.
    People in all 28 member states were asked: “Generally speaking, how successful or not is the integration of most immigrants living in [your country].”

    Overall, across the open borders bloc, 55 per cent of people said integration it is going badly and 39 per cent said it had been a success, according to the survey commissioned by the European Union’s (EU) unelected executive branch.

    In Sweden, the picture was bleak, with just 24 per cent of respondents saying they thought integration was going well, and a shocking 73 per cent saying it has gone badly.
