An out-of-control Chinese space station with ‘highly toxic’ chemicals onboard that is currently hurtling toward earth may crash into lower Michigan, it has been revealed.

It is believed China’s first prototype station, Tiangong-1, will come crashing back to the planet around April 3, experts say.

US research organization Aerospace Corporation revealed that parts of southern Lower Michigan are among the regions that have the highest probability of being hit by falling debris, according to MLive.com.

  2. Hong Kong democracy movement loses ground in key by-election

HONG KONG (AP) — Hong Kong pro-democracy candidates won back only two of four seats in a crucial by-election in the semiautonomous Chinese region, final results showed Monday.

The opposition wasn’t able to recapture all its territory, losing some to formidably resourced pro-Beijing rivals and falling short of the number needed to veto most bills in the city’s semi-democratic Legislative Council.

The four seats were among six left empty when a group of lawmakers were expelled following a 2016 controversy over their oaths, which they used to defy China.

Little-known activist and neighborhood councilor Au Nok-hin won a key battleground after being enlisted at the last minute. He stepped in after election officials rejected the pro-democracy camp’s marquee candidate, 21-year-old Agnes Chow, over her party’s platform advocating “self-determination” for the former British colony, which she slammed as “political screening.”

China’s Xi Jinping gets expanded mandate, may rule for life

BEIJING (AP) — Xi Jinping, already China’s most powerful leader in more than a generation, received a vastly expanded mandate as lawmakers Sunday abolished presidential term limits that had been in place for more than 35 years and wrote his political philosophy into the country’s constitution.

In one swift vote, the rubber-stamp legislature opened up the possibility of Xi being president for life, returning China to the one-man-rule system that prevailed during the era of Mao Zedong and the emperors who preceded him.

BEIJING (AP) — Recent history offers sobering lessons to China’s Communist Party following its decision to allow President Xi Jinping to rule indefinitely.

For millennia, one-man rule for life was standard under kings and emperors. But from Zimbabwe to Iraq to North Korea, modern autocrats often blunder into economic stagnation, political dysfunction and war.

  5. Mother’s Day cards go gender-neutral

Waitrose is selling gender-neutral Mother’s Day cards as retailers reduce their use of the M-word to make today’s celebration more “transgender inclusive”.

The supermarket chain is selling a “Happy You Day” card in its Mother’s Day range in which the word “mother” does not appear.

Waitrose said the move was aimed at “broadening out who the cards can go to, whether it’s grandmas or transgender mums”. Traditional cards are still sold.

Waitrose has been joined by other retailers, including Scribbler, whose Mother’s Day offerings include a “Two mums are better than one” card for same-sex couples and a “Dad, thanks for being the most amazing mum” card.

The changes come after calls by some trans activists to rename Mother’s Day.

  6. Expert warns of “terrifying” potential of digitally-altered video

Alec Baldwin is to some a perfect stand-in for President Donald Trump. But in a digitally-altered video online, the president’s face has been digitally stamped onto Baldwin’s performance.

It’s part of a wave of doctored audio and video now spreading online.

“The idea that someone could put another person’s face on an individual’s body, that would be like a homerun for anyone who wants to interfere in a political process,” said Virginia Senator Mark Warner. He believes manipulated video could be a game-changer in global politics.

“This is now going to be the new reality, surely by 2020, but potentially even as early as this year,” he said.

  7. UK national security chiefs to meet as pressure over spy probe mounts

London (AFP) – British Prime Minister Theresa May will chair a meeting of her national security team Monday after weekend confirmation that traces of a nerve agent used in the attempted murder of a Russian former double agent were found in a pub and a restaurant he visited.

May and senior ministers will receive an update on the investigation into the March 4 attack on Sergei Skripal, 66, and his 33-year-old daughter Yulia, as pressure mounts in Britain for answers over the incident.

The Times reported that the prime minister is on the brink of publicly declaring Russia’s involvement, possibly following the national security council meeting.

She is considering a raft of “hard line” responses, with diplomatic expulsions and rescinding the visas of Kremlin-linked residents among the possible measures, the paper said.

  8. Hundreds urged to wash clothes after UK nerve agent attack

SALISBURY, England (Reuters) – Hundreds of people who visited the Zizzi restaurant or the Mill pub in the English city of Salisbury were told on Sunday to wash their clothes after traces of nerve agent used to attack a former Russian spy last week were found at both sites.

Public Health England said there was no immediate health risk to anyone who may have been in either the restaurant or the pub, but their was a small chance that any of the agent that had come into contact with clothing or belongings could still be present in minute amounts and contaminate skin.

Former double agent Sergei Skripal, 66, and his daughter Yulia, 33, have been in hospital in a critical condition since March 4, when they were found unconscious on a bench in the southern English cathedral city of Salisbury.

“We have now learned there has been some trace contamination by the nerve agent in both the Mill pub and Zizzi restaurant in Salisbury,” chief medical offer Sally Davies said on Sunday.

  9. Far-right figures say they were deported from Britain

LONDON (AP) — Two far-right figures say they have been deported from Britain after being detained when trying to enter the country.

Austrian Martin Sellner of the Generation Identity group and American commentator Brittany Pettibone tweeted Monday that they were denied entry into Britain.

Sellner said in a video posted on Twitter they were detained for three days and deported.

British officials didn’t immediately confirm the deportations.

Sellner said on the video that both of them were handcuffed. He said he had planned to give a speech at “Speakers’ Corner” in London’s Hyde Park. He said “that was my crime.”

Cuba’s likely next president pledges more responsive gov’t

SANTA CLARA, Cuba (AP) — Cuba on Sunday took the final political step before a promised transition from the founders of the Communist state to a younger generation of officials.

Along with millions of Cubans, 57-year-old vice president Miguel Diaz-Canel voted to ratify a government-approved list of members of the National Assembly, which convenes April 19. Diaz-Canel, who is expected to assume Raul Castro’s seat as president that day, said the country’s next government will be more responsive to its people.

Miguel Diaz-Canel told reporters in the central city of Santa Clara that “the people will participate in the decisions that the government takes.”

        • That’s true.Yesterday they ignored it and today they don’t care. So De Blasio honeymooned in Castro’s Cuba. What’s the big deal?

In a videotaped private meeting with Communist Party members, Cuban Vice President Miguel Díaz-Canel — often portrayed as a moderate politician with a quiet disposition — took on an all too familiar hardline tone that offered a rare glimpse into his ideology.

In the video, which has quickly spread across social media platforms, Díaz-Canel lashed out against Cuban dissidents, independent media and embassies of several European countries, accusing them all of supporting subversive projects.

For the United States, he had this message: Cuba will not make any concessions.

  12. For poor Venezuelans, a box of food may sway vote for Maduro

CARACAS (Reuters) – A bag of rice on a hungry family’s kitchen table could be the key to Nicolas Maduro retaining the support of poor Venezuelans in May’s presidential election.

For millions of Venezuelans suffering an unprecedented economic crisis, a monthly handout of a box of heavily-subsidized basic food supplies by Maduro’s unpopular government has offered a tenuous lifeline in their once-prosperous OPEC nation.

The 55-year-old successor to Hugo Chavez introduced the so-called CLAP boxes in 2016 in a signature policy of his rule, continuing the socialist government’s strategy of seeking public support with cash bonuses and other giveaways.

Experts are sounding the alarm about new cyber activity from Iran, as hackers become more emboldened and skilled at carrying out surveillance operations and other attacks outside the country’s borders.

In recent years, Iran-linked hacker groups have showed signs of growing sophistication, expanding their cyber tool kits and stepping up operations against new international targets, including in the Middle East and the United States.

  14. Rise of violent Buddhist rhetoric in Asia defies stereotypes

Hong Kong (AFP) – Buddhism may be touted in the West as an inherently peaceful philosophy, but a surge in violent rhetoric from small but increasingly influential groups of hardline monks in parts of Asia is upending the religion’s tolerant image.

Buddhist mobs in Sri Lanka last week led anti-Muslim riots that left at least three dead and more than 200 Muslim-owned establishments in ruins, just the latest bout of communal violence there stoked by Buddhist nationalists.

In Myanmar, ultra-nationalist monks led by firebrand preacher Wirathu have poured vitriol on the country’s small Muslim population, cheering a military crackdown forcing nearly 700,000 Rohingya into Bangladesh.

And in neighbouring Thailand, a prominent monk found himself in hot water for calling on followers to burn down mosques.

      • Right-wing activists have been banned from entering the UK and held in ‘detention centers’, sparking a free-speech debate on the streets of London. Members of Generation Identity (GI) and Antifa clashed on Sunday.
Border police held three high-profile members of GI just months after the group opened its UK wing. Martin Sellner, Brittany Pettibone and Lauren Southern were detained as they tried to make their way to London.

GI, seen by some as the European equivalent of America’s so-called ‘alt-right’ has been recruiting in the UK and attempting to spread its message, but a fierce left-wing opposition has seen meetings shut down and rallies interrupted. GI has an anti-Islam, nationalist message propagated through slick social media videos.

        • On Friday 9th March 2018, Martin Sellner and Brittany Pettibone of Generation Identity were detained at Luton Airport by authorities for reportedly “causing tension between local communities” and “inciting hatred” despite no crime being committed.

Sellner flew to the UK on Friday to give a speech at Speakers Corner in London, an area which claims to be open for public discussion and debate but this no longer seems to be the case.Authorities deemed Sellner to be such a threat to public safety with his speech they detained him on arrival to the UK without any foreknowledge of the contents of said speech. Ironic it is that the speech in question was on the topic of free speech, which we have now seen the proof as being too controversial a topic for Britain to countenance.

Lauren Southern revealed that she has been in contact with Brittany Pettibone while in detention. Brittany explained how the police have detained both of them separately on the fact they have “right-wing opinions” and was planning to meet Tommy Robinson to conduct an interview.

BERLIN (AP) — Germany’s biggest-selling newspaper says it is ending a decades-long practice of commissioning photos of topless female models.

The Bild daily said Monday that “we will show no more topless productions of our own with women.” It said it had increasingly felt that “many women find these pictures offensive or degrading, both here in the editorial department and also among our female readers.”

Bild previously banished topless models from the front page to the inside pages in 2012. Monday’s announcement appeared on page 9, with pictures of a scantily clad woman “in the new, more contemporary style of photography.”

  19. xclusive: China may pare back ‘divisive’ eastern Europe summits

BERLIN/BRUSSELS/SOFIA (Reuters) – China is considering paring back annual summits with eastern European countries that have fueled concerns in western capitals that Beijing is seeking to divide the continent, according to three European diplomats.

The diplomats said there were indications China could delay the next “16+1” summit, scheduled for the Bulgarian capital Sofia later this year, and hold future meetings every two years instead of on an annual basis.

The possible shift comes amid unease in Beijing over criticism of the summits in Brussels, Berlin and other capitals, at a time when the EU is discussing steps to more strictly control corporate takeovers of European firms by Chinese rivals.

Wider EU-China summits have become more tense in recent years, with the past two meetings failing to produce a joint statement amid disagreements over the South China Sea and trade.

  20. CT Gov. Dannel Malloy foments violence against NRA: ‘There is blood on their hands’
By Joe Newby March 12, 2018

As part of the ongoing campaign to foment hate and violence against the millions of law-abiding members of the National Rifle Association (NRA), whose only “crime” is supporting the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms, Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy (D) told NPR the organization has “blood on their hands,” even though the NRA has absolutely nothing to do with any mass shooting in the country.

“I said that the NRA acts like a terrorist organization. Webster’s defines a terrorist organization as one that uses fear to effect its goals. What organization in America has used fear better than the NRA?” Malloy told NPR.

We can answer that quite simply, Governor — you. You and your fellow anti-gun liberal Democrats have done absolutely nothing but smear millions of law-abiding Americans in what is obviously an effort to foment bloodshed and violence against those with whom you disagree.

  21. CA utility customers are paying neighboring states to take overproduced renewable energy
By LU Staff March 11, 2018
CA utility customers are paying neighboring states to take overproduced renewable energy

As Tim Pearce’s DCNF article says, California customers’ bills have necessarily skyrocketed, and some of that is going to pay other states to take excess power from California’s overbuilt renewable capacity. Just one bonus point: free markets never do this to customers. – J.E.

California has frozen development on any more renewable energy sources as it wrestles with what to do with all the extra electricity it’s currently producing, Quartz reported.

Solar energy production has risen from less than one percent of California’s energy mix in 2010 to around 10 percent in 2017. On certain days when conditions are favorable, solar has supplied as much as half the energy used by Californians, according to Quartz.

The California Public Utilities Commission has proposed the state hold off on any further investment into renewable energy as individuals and businesses throughout the state continue to buy their own private sources of energy, such as solar panels secured to the tops of buildings. As more individuals invest in private energy, demand on the state’s grid lessens, Greentech Media reported.

California also has trouble predicting how much renewable energy will be needed at a certain time and controlling the power supplied. On several occasions, California paid Arizona utilities and others to take excess solar energy to avoid overloading its own grid, according to the Los Angeles Times.

“It’s really disappointing,” Independent Energy Producers Association CEO Jan Smutny-Jones told Greentech Media about California’s decision to halt renewable energy investment. “They’re basically saying, ‘There’s too much going on; we don’t know what to do, so we’re not going to do anything for a while.’”

A mixture of popular sentiment and legislation has led to California investing heavily in renewable energy in recent years. The heavy investment has been hard for ratepayers, however, as their energy bill has increased to 50 percent more than the national average, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Renewable energy also poses another hurdle in its predictability. For solar and wind, the energy produced relies on the weather, which is predictable to an extent and impossible to control. The inconsistency with which renewables produce power is one of the reasons California state taxpayers have footed the bill for their state’s energy to be pushed out to neighboring states.

  22. Anti-Semites say the darnedest things about the Trump administration
By Jeff Dunetz March 11, 2018

It is so strange that the same liberals who were silent about anti-Semitism during the eight years of the Obama administration — the most anti-Semitic in my lifetime — are suddenly the great protectors of Judaism. They will come up with any lame example in an attempt to brand the Trump administration as Jew-haters.

The latest sick try was by the Huffington Post, which has a long history of anti-Semitism. The liberal site had the chutzpah to call the use of the word globalist by Mick Mulvaney an anti-Semitic code word. Mulvaney was using it in reference to parting economic advisor Gary Cohn.

For anyone living outside South Africa who desires to help in this fight, doing it through Suidlanders is probably the most effective method.

You can support them right now by contributing to Suidlanders Humanitarian Aid & Civil Defense Fund which was just recently started here on Freestartr.com by Simon Roche of Suidlanders.

Suidlanders, based in South Africa, is an independent, non-state civil defense organization. They have already been preparing for such a time as this and they have emergency plans in place (find out more here at Suidlanders’ website).

Suidlanders’ fundraising campaign on Freestartr.com is for vital necessities, especially diesel fuel because of its numerous versatile applications in conditions of war. They will also purchase medicine, radios, and feminine and pediatric items such as food, clothing, bedding and tents.

      • In pursuit of maximized profits, the world’s financial 1% will drive development of AI (Artificial Intelligence). The only problem being is that no such thing exists. At present, what we have are ES (Expert System) tools. The difference is that between a dictionary and a volume of Shakespear’s works.

Take some time to read up on AI and you find that it has been one of the absolute most elusive goals of the computing community for decades.

Human intelligence is a result of massive neural interconnection and millennia of deep programming for pattern recognition and extreme high functions like stereo-visual and auditory localization.

ES tools are basically large lists that have branching pattern into root causes or final effects. The best example is hospitals. By feeding in such basic data as core temperature, blood pressure, blood oxygen level, patient symptoms and complaints, the ES can rapidly perform rudimentary (to medium-level) diagnoses.

As I noted earlier with the dictionary metaphor, none of this activity even slightly resembles human creativity, intuition, or actual true intelligence.

The problem being that this world’s financial 1% will cheerfully pursue wringing out that last million dollars of global operations profit by employing AI. Will anyone bother to think of installing a “kill switch”?

More importantly, will there be any way of stopping these systems from hacking into military networks and obtaining control of nuclear weapons (or other vital infrastructure)? See: “Colossus: The Forbin Project“>.

AI may well prove to be the most dangerous “power tool” invented, ever since the nuclear bomb (provided that we can actually achieve this insanely advanced technology). The potential for self-annihilation is simply too high. Steven Hawking’s concerns are valid and a warning note to humanity.

Talking to the BBC ahead of the South by Southwest (SXSW) technology festival in Austin, Texas, Khan said that companies must be “chivvied and cajoled to take action.”

“We have evolving economies, which means we should have evolving regulations,” he said. “For too long politicians and policymakers have allowed this revolution to take place around us and we’ve had our heads in the sand.”

He went on to reference German hate speech laws, put in place by Angela Merkel in response to growing resentment at her open-door migration policy, with companies now facing fines up to 50 million euros.

“Germany is an example of where the German government said ‘Enough,” he continued. “Unless you take down hate messages, unless you take down fake news, we will fine you’.

“I want to work with the tech companies, but you have to be responsible,” he added.

Khan also reiterated his opposition to President Donald Trump, claiming that Trump’s decision to retweet a member far-right activist group Britain First had led to increased levels of abuse directed at him…”

“Morocco has been accused of normalizing relations with Israel after a video appeared on social media showing the Israeli flag raised as the Israeli national anthem airs during a judo competition.

Two Israeli women won gold and bronze during competitions in Agadir leading to them being honoured on the podium.

At the start of the match, the Moroccan judosit refused to shake hands with her Israeli opponent.

The Moroccan Organisation for Ummah Affairs (Norsa) condemned authorities for allowing Israelis to take part in the competition saying they “refuse normalisation with the Israelis in all its forms”.

“We will remain steadfast in our steadfastness in supporting Palestine and defending the sanctities of the holy land,” it said…”

  29. The Left’s Fake Anti-Semitism and its Real Anti-Semitism
    Fake outrage and real crimes.
    March 12, 2018
    Daniel Greenfield

After weeks of outrage at the close ties between top Democrats and Louis Farrakhan, the leader of an anti-Semitic hate group, the media finally condemned anti-Semitism by a top political official.

President Trump and OMB Director Mick Mulvaney had referred to outgoing NEC Director Gary Cohn as a “globalist.” And “globalist,” according to Think Progress, the Huffington Post, Salon and Vox, is an “anti-Semitic slur.” Those are the same media outlets that had no problem using “globalist” as a slur when targeting Trump. HuffPo had published a piece tarring him as “Trump: The Globalist Plutocrat” and Vox had described Trump going to Davos, “the world’s biggest party for globalist elites.”

Both Trump and Mulvaney were praising Cohn and minimizing a globalist-nationalist split. That’s why President Trump said, “He may be a globalist, but I still like him. He’s seriously globalist, there’s no question, but you know what, in his own way he’s also a nationalist because he loves our country.”

And why Mulvaney wrote that, “I never expected that the coworker I would work closest, and best, with at the White House would be a “globalist.” Gary Cohn is one of the smartest people I’ve ever worked with. Having the chance to collaborate with him will remain one of the highlights of my career in public service.”

Can’t you just spot the “anti-Semitic dogwhistles”?

    • Unreal. The Farrakhan-groupies.

It’s nonetheless true that antisemites trying to be polite – not say (((jooozz))) outright – use the words “neocon” and “globalist” as synonyms for the wandering, Christ-killing AntiChrist.

      They do. All the time.

  31. Shipp explains, “Hillary Clinton was running and is running a global financial criminal syndicate. She was using these secret servers to conduct Clinton financial money laundering business.”

“The shocking thing about that is all the former directors of the CIA that have come out to support her, from Clapper to Brennan to Morell to Robert Gates supporting her being elected, knew about this criminal syndicate. Comey was protecting it. Lynch was protecting it. Weissmann was protecting it. And that is the big why. What’s she got on these people? Are they financial ties? They had to be aware of this, especially the counter-intelligence units. We know it was hacked into by foreign intelligence services because it was just hanging out there. Hillary Clinton was running a secret server outside the Department of State for the purposes of laundering money through the criminal Clinton Foundation.”

Are the crimes and treason of the Clinton Foundation the anvil that is about to drop? Shipp says,

What the former First Lady learned from grossly negligent CIA boss John Deutch.

    Lloyd Billingsley

The Fox News “Scandalous” series, easily as good as anything on PBS’ “Frontline,” provided a valuable service. Millennials and such may be unaware of the Whitewater affair, Hillary Clinton’s miraculously reappearing billing records, the mysterious death of Vincent Foster, and President Clinton’s liaisons with “that woman,” White House intern Monica Lewinsky. That all went down more than 20 years ago, but on March 3 the final “Scandalous” episode provided key links to the present.

Clinton aide Sidney Blumenthal has recently emerged in the DNC dossier affair. Republican James Rogan, a hawk for the impeachment of Bill Clinton, has given way to Democrat Adam Schiff, whose evidence of Russian collusion has an existential problem. Other links emerged in the 140 pardons Bill Clinton issued on his last day in office.

President Clinton pardoned his brother Roger, busted for distributing cocaine, and Whitewater crony Susan McDougal. He pardoned former HUD boss Henry Cisneros and Patty Hearst who became a partisan of the murderous Symbionese Liberation Army. Clinton also pardoned fugitive financier Mark Rich, but this was not the president’s most controversial last-day reprieve.

  33. Islam’s ‘Slow Motion Genocide’ of Christians
The “Muslim world” is built atop the spiritual genocide of non-Muslims.
    March 12, 2018
    Raymond Ibrahim

Iraqi Archbishop Bashar Warda made the following observation during a recent speech: “Having faced for 1,400 years the slow-motion genocide that began long before the ongoing ISIS genocide today, the time for excusing this inhuman behavior and its causes is long since passed.”

That Muslims have cleansed non-Muslim peoples by the sword since the seventh century to the present is of course factually well-documented. But what of the more subtle “slow-motion genocide”? How does that work? The answer is connected to another question: Why did so many non-Muslims become Muslim in the first place?

Many modern day Muslims and Western apologists claim that the ancestors of today’s 1.5 billion Muslims converted to Islam due to its intrinsic appeal; that the modern day coercion and persecution committed by the Islamic State and others is an aberration.

Conversely, many Muslim and non-Muslim historical records make clear that most people embraced Islam, not out of sincere faith, but for a myriad of reasons—from converting in order to enjoy the boons of being on the “winning team” to converting in order to evade the dooms of being on the “losing team.

  34. The Politicization of the FBI
A grand jury probe is long overdue.
    March 12, 2018
    Joseph E. diGenova

Over the past year, facts have emerged that suggest there was a plot by high-ranking FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ) officials in the Obama administration, acting under color of law, to exonerate Hillary Clinton of federal crimes and then, if she lost the election, to frame Donald Trump and his campaign for colluding with Russia to steal the presidency. This conduct was not based on mere bias, as has been widely claimed, but rather on deeply felt animus toward Trump and his agenda.

In the course of this plot, FBI Director James Comey, U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch, FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, FBI Deputy Director of Counterintelligence Peter Strzok, Strzok’s paramour and FBI lawyer Lisa Page, FBI General Counsel James Baker, and DOJ senior official Bruce Ohr—perhaps among others—compromised federal law enforcement to such an extent that the American public is losing trust. A recent CBS News poll finds 48 percent of Americans believe that Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Trump-Russia collusion probe is “politically motivated,” a stunning conclusion. And 63 percent of polled voters in a Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll believe that the FBI withheld vital information from Congress about the Clinton and Russia collusion investigations.

  35. NETANYAHU’S AIPAC ADDRESS
Israel’s PM reflects on the “good, the bad, and the beautiful.”
    March 12, 2018
    Joseph Puder

The annual (2018) AIPAC conference is no longer the intimate experience of thirty years ago. It is however understandable, with over 18,000 attendees, including over 4,000 students. The AIPAC conference at the Washington D.C. Convention Center has become akin to what we might call a small city, and a far cry from the village it once was at the Sheraton Hotel. Still, the experience of listening live to such exciting luminaries as the U.S. ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, U.S. Vice President Mike Pence, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, generated a sense of intimacy that superseded the vastness of the audience.

Speaking at the Tuesday morning plenary session, PM Netanyahu was the climax of this year’s conference. He was introduced by AIPAC Board Chair Lillian Pinkus. She reminded him of the few hundred AIPAC activists that filled the Sheraton Hotel in 1988, when he first spoke at AIPAC. Netanyahu, feeling uplifted by the previous days meeting with President Donald Trump, commanded the stage like a rock star, moving from one end of the stage to the other, waving to old friends and soliciting applause for President Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, and his pledge to open the Jerusalem embassy in May of this year, to coincide with Israel’s Independence Day.

  36. Report: US refusing to bend on demands for limiting Iran’s nuclear weapons
    Mar 11, 2018 8:48 pm

President Donald Trump reportedly told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the United States will not compromise with European powers while negotiating the terms and limitations of Iran’s nuclear program.

Axios reported: “The officials say Trump told Netanyahu that until now the three European powers only proposed ‘cosmetic changes’ that he doesn’t find satisfactory. Trump said he demands ‘significant changes’ in the Iran deal itself and not simply the addition of a supplemental agreement.”

The Israeli sources spoke on the condition of anonymity due to the diplomatic sensitivity surrounding the matter, according to Axios. White House and Israeli officials did not deny the details but declined to comment, according to the report.

We were happy to see a good jobs report on Friday, from 313,000 new jobs to the labor force participation rate climbing back to the 63%.

I was really pleased with the black and Hispanic unemployment rates. According to news reports, “[a]t 4.9 percent in February, Hispanic unemployment is just a tenth of a percentage point above the historic low.”

Remember the Zogby poll that showed Hispanic support for Trump at 39%. It makes sense to me that Hispanic support for President Trump would be closely related to job growth.

We remind you that this is one poll, and we need to see a trend. Nevertheless, 39% is a good number, and remember that Hispanics do more than just talk about immigration. The media may not believe it, but Hispanics are interested in jobs and other quality-of-life issues.

Looking ahead to 2020, President Trump around 40% with Hispanics means he could carry New Mexico and Nevada, as President Bush did in 2004. We remember that President Bush won between 40 and 45%, depending on what study you want to believe.

  38. ‘We are deporting ourselves’: Businessman and family quit Trump’s America in disgust

‘I will find another country that is more accepting and willing to take my investments, since this place doesn’t want us’

A man who employs six people in California is so fed up of fighting to remain in the US he and his family have “deported” themselves.

Khaled Altarkeet, the owner of a café in San Jose, donated leftover food to Catholic charities before boarding a plane to Kuwait with his wife and four children after he was unable to extend his business visa.

“I’m shutting the business and forgetting the United States,” he told The Mercury News. “I will find another country that is more accepting and willing to take my investments, since this place doesn’t want us.”

  39. David Hogg And His Sister Create Nazi-Like Armbands To Promote Gun Control

Lauren Hogg, the younger sister of David Hogg and surprisingly not verified on Twitter, has created special armbands for gun control advocates to wear to school, the March For Our Lives demonstration, and anywhere else you think you can wear it and not get embarrassed. The band, of course, is to be worn on your arm, and the symbol in the middle resembles a peace sign. But does it really?

Though David Hogg is seen proudly sporting the accessory for change, it’s not exactly difficult to understand why this tweet got deleted; from a distance, this “peace and love” armband looks like a swastika, a symbol predominantly used by the Nazi party from the 1920’s to the 1940’s. Users on Gab also noticed the similarities and in response, created the appropriate memes. Their captions are only slightly different than the original.

  40. Hungary Slams EU Quotas, Says Settling Each Migrant Will Cost $35,000 (sputniknews, Mar 12, 2018)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201803121062448296-hungary-eu-quotas-migrants/

“LONDON (Sputnik) – The Hungarian Government has repeatedly criticized the European Union’s migrant policy, and defied the union by not adhering to the migrant quota it set out for each individual member state.

Hungary’s Minister of State for Government Communication Bence Tuzson warned of the huge costs and financial implications of allowing migrants to settle in the country.

“Based on these plans [EU quotas], Hungary would have to already admit over ten thousand migrants before the end of this year, after which an admittance system with no upper limit would come into being, all of which would have serious financial implications,” Minister Tuzson said during a press conference over the weekend.

He then proceeded to outline the costs of settling migrants in Hungary, warning that these costs could rise as there isn’t an upper limit on the number of migrants who can settle in the country.

“In view of the fact that according to Brussels’ plans some 9 million forints ($35,500) would have to be spent on providing for each and every migrant, the cost involved would be in the region of 100 billion forints ($395 million), which could further increase by several orders of magnitude in future years at the expense of the national budget,” the minister added.

Mr Tuzson used Germany as an example of how migrant spending can skyrocket in a short space of time.

Specifically, he claimed that Germany’s spending on migrant welfare and other associated costs increased by over 70 percent in the space of a year, and pointed out that the federal state of Bavaria “currently spends more on migration out of its national budget than on the economy, environmental protection and healthcare put together.”

“If Soros’s people gain power in Hungary on 8 April [Hungarian parliamentary elections], this same fate will also await Hungary, which the country could not handle, it would go bankrupt, we would have to do without development projects, pension increases and family support schemes,” Minister Tuzson warned.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has accused George Soros of buying influence in Europe, and the Hungarian government is currently trying to push forward the so-called “Stop Soros bill.”
Hungary built a border wall with Serbia and Croatia in 2015, at the peak of the migrant crisis, and has called on the EU to provide reimbursement for the wall’s construction. Another border barrier with Serbia, spanning 155 kilometers, was completed last year.

Although most migrants aimed to settle in wealthier EU member states, such as Sweden and Germany, Hungary was still adversely affected by the crisis, as tens of thousands of migrants crossing through the country in 2015 alone to reach other European nations.”
