  1. Orlando police stopped a man attempting to kidnap singer Lana Del Rey on Friday.

Michael Hunt, 43, of Riverview, Florida, was arrested by Orlando Police Department officers just feet away from the Amway Center where the singer (real name Elizabeth Grant) was playing a show Friday night. Hunt was in possession of a knife and tickets to a show but, according to police, was never able to make it inside the venue or in contact with the singer.

  2. Two Vancouver men have been convicted of multiple counts of human trafficking and pimping-related offences involving their exploitation of three young women, one of them an underage girl.

Tamim Albashir, 26, and Kasra Mohsenipour, 25, were found guilty of 17 of 19 charges in connection with offences committed against the victims in Vancouver, Coquitlam and Edmonton. The crimes occurred from May 2013 to April 2016.

The accused were also convicted of attempting to obstruct justice by conspiring to influence, pressure, or bribe one of the victims in an effort to get her to recant her statement to the police.

In his ruling, B.C. Supreme Court Justice David Masuhara concluded that the accused had acted in a “common enterprise” to lure the victims into prostitution.

The Crown’s theory at trial was that the purpose of the joint venture was to make money for the accused and to finance their own lifestyles which included designer clothes, regular gym workouts, rental of luxury downtown condos, expensive cars and delivered meals.

  3. Two teachers and a former student are accusing a London, Ont. high school principal of inappropriate behaviour including sexual harassment and abusing his authority, an investigation by HuffPost Canada has found.

Michael Deeb is a well-known figure in the community as principal of H.B. Beal Secondary School, and has served as chair of the Muslim-Educators Council and an instructor in Fanshawe College’s School of Public Safety.

He has been under scrutiny since December 2017, when allegations of sexual harassment were publicized by a London poet and teacher. Deeb was forced to step down as vice-chair of the police board while the Ontario Civilian Police Commission investigates if he violated a provincial code of conduct for police board members.

  4. MCALLEN, Texas — Federal authorities arrested a Democrat Texas state judge after a series of raids on his courtroom and his home. Information on the charges and other details of the investigation remain sealed. The judge is expected to be presented in federal court on Monday.
This week, agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigations conducted “law enforcement activity” at the 93rd State District Court, FBI Spokeswoman Michelle Lee revealed to Breitbart Texas. While she could not disclose the details of the operation or its purpose, Lee confirmed the FBI made one arrest. The identity of the person arrested and the charges could not be released until Monday, Lee said.

Hidalgo County Sheriff Eddie Guerra confirmed the raids to local media shortly after they began. The sheriff posted a message on social media about the presence of FBI agents at the Hidalgo County Courthouse in the 93rd State District Court. Federal agents, as well as state and local authorities, were reportedly present at the judge’s home in Edinburg.

  5. Officials in Cape Town have set April 22 as “Day Zero”, the day the city will cut off water to residents unless drastic measures are taken to decrease usage.

The city that is home to 4 million is in the midst of the worst drought to hit South Africa in more than 100 years and is rapidly running out of water. The city said Tuesday on Facebook that it will “turn off the tap” when dam reserves reach 13.5 percent. The date at which dam reserves are expected to reach that milestone keeps getting pushed forward.

The situation is dire. Dams supplying the city with usable water dropped this week to 29.7 percent, the city of Cape Town posted to Facebook on Wednesday. Only 19.7 percent of the water is usable. Several times a day, the city encourages residents via social media to conserve water.

The girl, Maryam Muazu, said to be 5 months pregnant with twins, is currently in primary 6 at L.E.A Anchau, Taka-Lafiya in Kubau local government of Kaduna State.

The parents of Maryam Muazu are threatening to abort the pregnancy to avert public embarrassment.

She was alleged to have been raped by the eight men, including her neighbour, an elderly Imam of a mosque who molested her severely.

Maryam said, “They usually call me and give me N500 naira when l am coming back from school and when I went out hawking, they usually forced me into it, and they have been warning me not to tell my parents, they vowed to kill me if I dared tell my parents.

  11. A 21-year-old woman has revealed when her family found out she was dating a man from outside her culture, life at home was made a “living hell”.

The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, about her parents were not being pleased when they discovered she was in a relationship with someone from outside their Muslim culture.

She has recently moved away from home to escape the pressures and spoke to Jamie East and Saira Khan about her ordeal.

She explained she fell in love “but I knew from that moment I’d have to start living a lie, almost like a double life.”

She told Jamie and Saira that her parents found out about the relationship which is “serious and we have every intention of staying together and being together for the long term” because “my phone just happened to be lying around.”

But her parents, who were born in Britain like her, “really didn’t take it well” and “life at home once my parents had found out was living hell.”

The police call it “professionally slaughtered”. You should check out the relevant youtube videos to see what happens when animals are slaughtered. Berlin Neukölln is a multicultural model quarter. No-Go-Area for the police. Not so long ago, a dwarf pony was raped by Islamists in the petting zoo in Berlin. Now the next case of animal cruelty. A pregnant sheep was stolen, presumably raped, slaughtered and eaten. Now the remains of the carcass have been found.

    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/roadside-bomb-sinai-kills-egyptian-security-forces-52826055

“Egyptian security officials say a roadside bomb has targeted a pickup truck carrying members of the security forces in the turbulent north of the Sinai Peninsula, killing two.

The officials say the Sunday blast took place on a road just south of the coastal city of el-Arish. Five other members of the security forces and a civilian were wounded in the attack.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, which bore the hallmarks of the extremist Islamic State group, now leading a long-running insurgency in Sinai.

The insurgency has expanded and become deadlier since the military’s 2013 ouster of Mohammed Morsi, an Islamist president whose one-year rule proved divisive.”

  17. In Turkey, soaring support for Syrian offensive and rising anti-Americanism (wapo, Feb 4. 2018)
    https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/middle_east/turkish-support-for-offensive-soars-standing-of-longtime-ally-america-tumbles/2018/02/03/0612e970-06a2-11e8-aa61-f3391373867e_story.html

“On a celebrity gossip show here, the hosts recently projected the Instagram profiles of Turkish actors and pop stars on the screen and berated those who had not yet posted support for Turkey’s military offensive in Syria.

“There are those celebrities who even post when they go to the bathroom,” one host quipped. “They could just post a little thing saying, ‘I prayed and would pray again for the soldiers.’?”

Disdainfully, the hosts flashed through more accounts, calling out those they faulted for ignoring the operation, which seeks to oust Kurdish fighters officially portrayed as terrorists.

Since the offensive began last month in the Afrin enclave just over the border, Turkish media and public opinion have rallied around the government, stirring nationalist sentiment and giving a boost to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is up for reelection by next year.

On newsstands, headlines have blared support, and imams in mosques throughout the country have prayed for a military victory. Authorities have detained hundreds of people — including doctors and writers — for criticizing the assault. Even opposition leaders have fallen in line.

Erdogan has deftly framed the Afrin battle as an extension of Turkey’s war with Kurdish insurgents at home, tapping into years of public anger with the militant Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, which is linked to the Kurdish fighters in northern Syria.

In waging what has been dubbed “Operation Olive Branch,” he is also exploiting a surge of anti-Americanism among Turks, arising in part from U.S. military support for the Syrian Kurds. The Syrian Kurdish militia, called the YPG, or People’s Protection Units, has been a crucial American ally in the campaign to oust the Islamic State from Syria.

Since the operation began, public opinion polls have shown a large majority of Turks supporting the offensive. One poll, conducted by Turkey’s MAK research company and cited widely by pro-government media, said 82 percent of respondents believed that the operation will succeed. Ninety percent said the United States is “behind” the PKK and YPG.

That broad distrust of the United States comes at a time when, Turkish commentators say, relations between the two longtime allies have sunk to their lowest point since Turkey joined NATO in 1952.

During recent interviews in Istanbul, in working-class and upscale neighborhoods alike, Turks repeatedly questioned why the United States had joined forces with the YPG, which they see as inextricably linked to the PKK and thus to bomb attacks inside Turkey.

“I am not a government supporter,” said Yadagar Karakul, a 30-year-old event coordinator. But in Afrin, he said, the government “is protecting Turkey’s territory against terrorists on the border.”

“Nowhere in the world can you form an agreement with a terrorist organization,” he said, referring to the YPG.

At a teahouse in the conservative Tophane neighborhood in Istanbul, Ihsan Gumus, 39, defended the operation.

“Syria has become a problem for the entire world,” said Gumus, who is unemployed. “And if there is a terror organization on the border like the government says, then I support it.”

The Turkish offensive, including air and ground operations, aims to establish a buffer zone inside northern Syria enforced by Turkish-backed forces. The YPG was initially formed to protect Kurdish populations amid the chaos of the Syrian civil war.

Erdogan has said that after neutralizing Afrin, Turkey plans to extend its Syrian campaign eastward and oust the YPG fighters from the Kurdish-controlled city of Manbij. That could bring Turkish forces into direct conflict with the United States, which has an undisclosed number troops in that city…”

    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/latest-italian-police-remorse-gunman-52826621

“The Carabinieri commander in the Italian city of Macerata says the extreme right-wing suspect in drive-by shootings targeting African migrants was “lucid and determined, aware of what he had done.”

Col. Michele Roberti told Sky TG24 on Sunday that the suspect, Luca Traini, demonstrated no remorse for the two-hour shooting spree Saturday that wounded five men and one woman, all African migrants.

Roberti said “it’s likely that he carried out this crazy gesture as a sort of retaliation, a sort of vendetta” after a Nigerian man was arrested in the gruesome slaying of an Italian teenager a few days previously in the same city.

He said investigators had determined there was no connection between 28-year-old Traini and the slain victim, Pamela Mastropietro.

    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/spain-migrants-found-dead-off-moroccan-coast-52826452

“Spanish authorities say an unspecified number of migrants have been found dead in waters near the coast of Morocco.

Irene Flores, head of communication for the regional government of Melilla, tells The Associated Press on Sunday that Spain’s Civil Guard found the body of one Sub-Saharan man. Flores said there were more bodies found in the water Saturday but they were recovered by Moroccan patrol ships.

Spanish media reports that around 20 bodies were pulled from the sea in all, apparently migrants who drowned when their boat sunk trying to reach Spanish territory.

Each year thousands of migrants attempt to reach Spain by making the dangerous crossing of the Mediterranean Sea or by entering Melilla and Ceuta, Spain’s African enclaves, either by land or sea.”

      • Ok, the switch was in the wrong position, this begs the question of why the two dead men didn’t notice this, and a friend that I was just talking to (he was an engineer (train driver) at one point and he agreed that either one of those two should have noticed they were moving off the main line onto the siding and know something was wrong. Don’t get either one of us started on this, the inmates are running the nut house for either of those two to have been in a position of authority.

The Trump administration has extended temporary protection for nearly 7,000 Syrians in living in the US as war continues to ravage their country.

They were shielded from deportation under a humanitarian programme, Temporary Protected Status (TPS).

The president has cancelled the programme for various countries in recent months, affecting immigrants from El Salvador, Haiti and Nicaragua.

  22. Why I Am Leaving the F.B.I.

One of the greatest honors of my life was walking across the stage at the F.B.I. Academy and receiving my special agent badge from the director at the time, Robert Mueller. After 21 weeks of intensive training, my class swore an oath and became federal agents entrusted with the solemn duty of protecting Americans and upholding the Constitution.

After more than a decade of service, which included investigating terrorism, working to rescue kidnapping victims overseas and being special assistant to the director, I am reluctantly turning in my badge and leaving an organization I love. Why? So I can join the growing chorus of people who believe that the relentless attacks on the bureau undermine not just America’s premier law enforcement agency but also the nation’s security. My resignation is painful, but the alternative of remaining quiet while the bureau is tarnished for political gain is impossible.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/02/opinion/leaving-the-fbi.html

Richard: Note the way he is leaving to fight the attacks on the FBI which endanger national security, he isn’t leaving in protest of the top people in the FBI breaking the law and lying to Judges to try and influence an election. (Illegal actions) He isn’t leaving because the same people (including the man he appears to idolize) are trying to carry out a coup against a duly elected President of the United States.

No he is leaving because people (some rich and many more poor) have the gall to protest the FBI throwing the Constitution and US Code into the trash can and acting as if they have a devine right to do what they want because they are special people who are better then the common masses.

This crisis has been building since January 2009 when Obama was sworn in, his Attorney Generals routinely violated the laws. His Secretary of States routinely sold out the US foreign police for money or political philosophy. Obama himself routinely violated the Constitution with his Executive Orders. He made his true thoughts about the US and its patriotic Citizens known through his statements and actions and the lapdog press covered for him. After 8 years of having our rights taken from us, being lied to and stolen from the people stood up and elected someone that said he would reverse the actions of the Obots and restore freedom to the US. Now the embedded Obots are trying to remove our President. They in their arrogance ignore the people and what we want and tyrants ignore the US public at their own risk. This isn’t our first rodeo and we are ready for action, we would prefer that the problem be handled through the legal system but if they push hard enough we will fight back. History has shown that when the American people fight back tyrants fall, including internal tyrants. Let Freedom Ring

Left it ring in all nations that use to compose Western Civilization but LET FREEDOM RING.

  23. Oklahoma considers chemical castration for sex offenders

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A Republican lawmaker is pushing to add Oklahoma to the list of states in which so-called chemical castration is an option for certain sex offenders, albeit an option that rarely gets used.

State Rep. Rick West, a first-term lawmaker from Heavener, said he filed the bill at the request of a constituent and that he fully intends to push for its passage, though it’s likely to face strong opposition, even in a conservative state with a tough-on-crime reputation.

If approved, Oklahoma would join at least seven other states that have laws allowing courts to order chemical treatments that reduce male testosterone for certain sex offenders, although experts say the punishment is rarely carried out and one described it as a “half fantasy” version of criminal justice.

“When I knocked on that guy’s door when I was campaigning, he said: ‘I’ll vote for you if you’ll run this bill,'” West said.

  24. China’s plan to use artificial intelligence to boost the thinking skills of nuclear submarine commanders

Equipping nuclear submarines with AI would give China an upper hand in undersea battles while pushing applications of the technology to a new level

A submarine with AI-augmented brainpower not only would give China’s large navy an upper hand in battle under the world’s oceans but would push applications of AI technology to a new level, according to the researcher, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the project’s sensitivity.

“Though a submarine has enormous power of destruction, its brain is actually quite small,” the researcher said.

While a nuclear submarine depends on the skill, experience and efficiency of its crew to operate effectively, the demands of modern warfare could introduce variables that would cause even the smoothest-run operation to come unglued.

For instance, if the 100 to 300 people in the sub’s crew were forced to remain together in their canister in deep, dark water for months, the rising stress level could affect the commanding officers’ decision-making powers, even leading to bad judgment.

    http://www.scmp.com/news/china/society/article/2131127/chinas-plan-use-artificial-intelligence-boost-thinking-skills

    • First this is the South China Morning Post so we can safely say this is Red Chinese propaganda.

Second I think they mean nuclear armed subs so they are saying they are starting the process of turning the decision to use nukes over to AI.

Third they are calling their social surveillance program Sky Net so they may be trying to scare people about something isn’t going to happen.

Fourth if they are going to do this what can possibly go wrong?

      • Let’s make one thing perfectly clear.

Humans have yet to create anything which (even remotely or) definitively exhibits “Artificial Intelligence” (i.e., AI). Period. Full Stop.

What there is, at present, are “Expert Systems” which are capable of taking in however many externally measured data points and making a cursory diagnosis or edumahcated guess at what those factors represent.

Actual “Artificial Intelligence” will need to demonstrate such tedious, niggling things as … oh, let’s just say, creativity and consciousnesses, to name but a few attributes which continue to elude the capabilities of machine-based processing systems.

As Richard so astutely infers: Red China depending upon supposed AI to augment the decision making powers of near-robotic commanders is not just a “recipe-for-disaster”, it’s a grand way of ensuring that everything goes swirling down the porcelain receptacle.

For whatever numerous shortcomings it may have, at least America’s military teaches its soldiers to think for themselves. Something that a horrified Communist China regards as complete and total anathema.

        • Despite what the libs want you to think the soldier that can only obey orders is a disaster in waiting. You win wars by the intelligent use of violence to break the will of the enemy both civilian and military. You don’t do this with robots.

As NR said this will make the commanders look to the computer before they think for themselves, which will cost the Chinese a lot of subs.

  25. Iran says US nuclear policy brings world ‘closer to annihilation’

The United States’ new nuclear policy brings humanity “closer to annihilation”, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has said.

His comments late Saturday came a day after the Pentagon revealed plans to revamp its nuclear arsenal, largely in response to a perceived renewed threat from Russia.

Zarif said the new policy was “in violation” of the international Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

“The US Nuclear Posture Review reflects greater reliance on nukes in violation of the #NPT, bringing humankind closer to annihilation,” Zarif said on Twitter.

    • Iran says US nuclear policy brings world ‘closer to annihilation’

So says the Islamic Republic whose founder is on record as stating:

We do not worship Iran, we worship Allah. For patriotism is another name for paganism. I say let this land [Iran] burn. I say let this land go up in smoke, provided Islam emerges triumphant in the rest of the world.

As in, ‘I have no flipping compunction about turning all of Iran into one gigantic suicide bomber so long as Islam prevails over all other doctrines.’

Yet, we are supposed to heed the scolding of this sick, twisted, train wreck of an Islamic piss-hole that, somehow, America is bringing our world to the brink of nuclear “annihilation”.

      Puhleese!

      • Look at the Global Conflict video about how India is telling Pakistan they don’t care about the Paki nukes, if Pakistan keeps up provoking India they are going to move into Pakistan with everything they have.

I think Pakistan continually attacking India a greater chance for nuclear war then the US trying to stop North Korea and Iran from getting nukes.

I don’t know if India is bluffing or not but if not and Pakistan keeps up the attacks Pakistan, India and China are going to be nuked. India knows that Pakistan is a semi puppet of Chinas so once the nukes start flying they will launch on both.

  26. A male backlash against #MeToo is brewing

Men are scared, and feminists are delighted. But the urge to call out and punish male sexual transgression is bound to clash with an inescapable truth: We’re all in this together, men and women.

Consider what’s happening in the capital of Florida. Female staffers and lobbyists have found “many male legislators will no longer meet with them privately,” reported The Miami Herald. “I had a senator say, ‘I need my aide here in the room because I need a chaperone,’ ” lobbyist Jennifer Green told the paper. “I said, ‘Senator, why do you need a chaperone? .?.?. Do you feel uncomfortable around me?’ ‘Well,’ he said, ‘anyone can say anything with the door shut.’?”

“I’m getting the feeling that we’re going back 20 years as female professionals,” said Green, who owns her company. “I fully anticipate I’m going to be competing with another firm that is currently owned by some male, and the deciding factor is going to be: ‘You don’t want to hire a female lobbying firm in this environment.’?”

    • We’re all in this together, men and women.

Not according to a lot of “liberated” women.

If humans were capable of parthenogenesis, we would (quite possibly) be in a violent, gender-based, conflict right now. As it is, through legalistic and sexual means, far too many Western women are waging an outright war on men who (quite literally) have the balls to stand up for themselves.

It is difficult to imagine a more successful strategy in terms of women returning themselves to their previous role of being, “barefoot and pregnant”. There is rapidly approaching a point where few, if any, real men will continue to tolerate this ridiculous charade of “absolute gender equality” (as if such a thing ever existed in the first place).

When these vitriolic harpies finally purchase a clue about what the nuclear family truly represents, this entire world will (once more) have the potential to become a renewed cradle of genuine civilization.

Until then, there is only endless strife and discord awaiting the idiots who subscribe to this current plague of misandry. May all of them rot in everlasting hell.

      • If humans were capable of parthenogenesis, we would (quite possibly) be in a violent, gender-based, conflict right now.

Japan is working on artificial placenta’s and wombs for cattle, this technology can be used to birth a new generation(s) of people. Also the crisper technology for gene editing gives us the potential of creating human clones from any nucleated cells. The women could create more women and the men could create more women and men.

  27. Corsica’s nationalists stage protest ahead of Macron visit

AJACCIO, France, Feb 3 (Reuters) – Thousands of Corsicans marched in Ajaccio, the French Mediterranean island’s capital, on Saturday to demand more autonomy, ahead of a visit by President Emmanuel Macron next week.

An alliance of Corsica’s two main nationalist parties, helped by disillusion with mainstream parties tarnished by corruption, swept to victory in a local election on Dec. 10 and has been pressing for talks with Paris.

Its leaders want more autonomy on fiscal issues, equal status for the French and Corsican languages, and the limiting of the right to buy property in some areas to people who have been resident on the island for at least five years.

The local prefecture said between 5,600 and 6,000 people marched peacefully in Ajaccio, while organisers put the number of protesters at between 22,000 and 25,000.

“It’s a historic moment, a march of unprecedented proportions in Ajaccio,” the island’s chief Gilles Simeoni told reporters.
