  1. Fun with Megyn and Jane
Whatever you think of Ms. Kelly, she’s right about Hanoi Jane.
    January 29, 2018
    Bruce Bawer

Last September 27, on the third day of Megyn Kelly Today, Jane Fonda got bent out of shape when the eponymous host mentioned Fonda’s rather extensive plastic surgery, thanks to which she looks (in the right light and makeup) almost half her age. Since then, Fonda has publicly mentioned the interview more than once, and has not disguised her irritation. In a held at the Sundance Film Festival and published in Variety on January 20, Fonda said that Kelly’s question about plastic surgery hadn’t “upset” her; it had “stunned” her. “It was so inappropriate,” Fonda said. “It showed that she’s not that good an interviewer. But if she comes around and learns her stuff, sure.”

Two days later, staring straight into the camera on her show, Kelly shot back. “Fonda was on to promote a film about aging,” she said. “For years she has spoken openly about her joy in giving a cultural face to older women. Well, the truth is, most older women look nothing like Fonda, who is now eighty. And if Fonda really wants to have an honest discussion about older women’s cultural face, then her plastic surgery is tough to ignore.” Kelly then played snippets of other interviews in which Fonda had openly discussed going under the knife. Why, then, Kelly asked, was the topic “suddenly off limits” in an interview about “a film about aging”?

H&M was forced to remove a range of children’s socks from its stores after receiving complaints that part of a design featuring a Lego man with a jackhammer allegedly resembled Arabic script for “Allah.”

    Who is FBI’s Andrew McCabe?
Top FBI official Andrew McCabe has been “removed” from his post as deputy director, Fox News is told, leaving the bureau after months of conflict-of-interest complaints from Republicans including President Trump.

A source confirmed to Fox News that McCabe is taking “terminal leave” – effectively taking vacation until he reaches his planned retirement in a matter of weeks. As such, he will not be reporting to work at the FBI anymore.

  4. Dr. Michael Ben-Ari and Baruch Marzel arrived in southern Tel Aviv today and distributed leaflets to infiltrators in Tigrinya, the language spoken by natives of Eritrea and parts of Ethiopia.

The leaflets contain addresses and phone numbers of left-wing activists and Meretz MKs who have backed the demand by some infiltrators to be given legal status in Israel. Marzel and Ben-Ari encouraged infiltrators to avail themselves of the leftist activists’ “hospitality” personally by providing the activists’ personal contact information in mock invitations.

“This is the address where to go,” Marzel directs a puzzled infiltrator he approached. “A very good place to live, nice house. Free meals, free everything; you can do anything. Mrs. Silverman (Reform Rabbi Susan Silverman, sister of actress Sarah Silverman) and Member of Knesset Ilan Gilon in Ashdod – they’re ready to take you, you can live in a very good place for free with the family, with your friends, you could go there, live there anytime you want.”

  5. MEMRI Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Other Military Wings in Gaza Are Our Blood Brothers, Not Rivals

Palestinian Security Forces spokesman Gen. Adnan Dumairi said that he harbors no hostility toward the fighters of Hamas, the Islamic Jihad, and the other military wings operating in Gaza.

“They are our blood brothers. We are brothers who share the same history, the same weapons. Brothers in everything,” he said. The interview with Dumairi aired on the Palestinian Authority’s Maan TV channel on November 11.

  6. Donald Trump isn’t negotiating, he’s maneuvering. He set a trap for the Democrats and they blundered into it at warp speed.

Donald Trump’s base understandably wigged out when he proposed giving away the store in his latest immigration proposal. The president offered a 10- to 12-year path to citizenship for 1.8 million DACAns, twice the number anybody was talking about before, and offered not to terminate chain migration until all four million in the pipeline are processed, which will take about 15 years.

This, of course, is not what he campaigned on. He won the White House with a campaign that flatly promised an end to amnesty, period. In fact, if he carries through on this proposal, it’s the one thing – the only thing – he could do to alienate his base. So how do we explain this dizzying, head-swiveling change in his immigration proposals?

It’s simple, really. He is not negotiating, he’s maneuvering. He set a trap for the Democrats and they blundered into it at warp speed. I do not believe the president had any intent whatsoever to amnesty two million illegal aliens, but he wanted the Democrats to pull that trigger for him, and that’s exactly what they did.

    • The author points out what very few are bothering to look at, Trump offered the amnesty knowing the Dems would reject it, now that and the end to chain migration are off the table and it was the Dems who killed them. As the man says Trump is playing chess and the Dems are playing checkers, personally I would say Trump is playing 3D chess and the Dems are trying to learn checkers.

      • Remember how early in the Primaries he maneuvered the others running for the Republican nomination into promising to support him if/when he won the primaries.

I wouldn’t want to set across a poker table from him.

  7. Trump’s Pressure on Iran Ended its Harassment of Our Ships
    January 29, 2018
    Daniel Greenfield

This is what actual “smart diplomacy” looks like.

Under Obama, Iran knew that it could do anything short of nuking Chicago and get away with it.

Once Obama made the Iran deal the centerpiece of his foreign policy legacy, any attack on it was an attack on him. Anything that might make Iran “walk away from the table” was taboo. So Hezbollah got a blank check to smuggle drugs. Members of Congress were spied on to protect the Iran deal. (Even well before Trump, Obama was using the NSA as a tool against his political opponents.)

American personnel could be captured, taken hostage, humiliated in front of the world, and Obama’s little minions, like Ben Rhodes, would scurry to their media lapdogs spin the story.

And Iran and Russia could show off by harassing American forces in the water and the air who had to take it. Not anymore.

  8. Students and community members at Broward College (BC) are outraged after an American Flag was used as a doormat by a professor during an art exhibition hosted by the school.

“So it appears this is ok to do at central campus Broward College. This is a American Flag Painted white and cut in half and used as a door mat,” BC student and Marine Corps veteran Jess Karcher wrote on Facebook, accompanied by photos of an American Flag painted white, cut in half, and lying on the ground.

  9. Where is Nidal Sakr and Why Isn’t He in Jail?
US Muslim Brotherhood operative who threatened President Trump’s life needs to be brought to justice.
    January 29, 2018
    Joe Kaufman

arch for Justice Chairman and Muslim Brotherhood operative Nidal Sakr has been living in the United States since he escaped Egypt, in March 2014, days before he was sentenced to death for the murder of an Egyptian police officer. While in the US, Sakr has repeatedly called for President Donald Trump’s execution, something that is punishable by US law. Whether serving his Egyptian sentence or his potential US sentence for his threats, he needs to be located so that he could be brought to justice.

Nidal Mohamed Sakr was born in Providence, Rhode Island. He describes himself as “US born from Palestinian origin.” In a videotaped lecture Sakr gave, in October 2012, he claimed that his mother is Egyptian and enlisted in the Muslim Brotherhood (al-Ikhwan al-Muslimin) at an early age, carrying weapons and ammunition for the group. He stated, “Let me be very clear about this. I was born into Ikhwan, and my mother actually is from the first generation of Ikhwan.”

  10. FACT CHECK: Yes, There Were Black Confederate Soldiers from South Carolina

Every now and then I get tired of being lectured about “alternative facts” from lefties who have absolutely no regard for the facts. I went through this with the terrorists and pigs story in the Philippines. Despite the abundance of historical evidence, from papers of the day, including the New York Times, and from General Pershing’s own memoirs, the media and its fact checkers insisted it never happened.

So I’m loath to tackle another of these media myths, but here we go again.

At a time when people are battling over whether to take down Confederate War statues and memorials, a pair of state lawmakers in South Carolina want to put one up.

And it wouldn’t be just another Civil War monument. It would be a monument to honor the sacrifices of black Confederate troops from South Carolina. Problem is, historians say there weren’t any black Confederate soldiers in South Carolina.

  11. Convicted Terrorist Hamid Hayat Gets New Hearing
Pakistan-trained terrorist was “so pleased” that jihadis cut Daniel Pearl “into pieces.”
    January 29, 2018
    Lloyd Billingsley

On Monday a federal court in Sacramento will hold an evidentiary hearing on Hamid Hayat, 35, currently serving a 24-year sentence on terrorism charges. Hayat’s legal team will attempt to vacate the 2006 conviction, with support from the northern California division of the Council on American Islamic Relations.

“We welcome the court’s decision to hear new evidence in this case and hope that Mr. Hayat will be given a fair chance to present his appeal,” said CAIR executive director Basim Elkarra in a statement. “With Mr. Hayat’s case, there are legitimate concerns that he did not receive a fair trial.”

The Muslim Legal Fund of America “began funding the expenses for this case in 2014 because representatives were deeply concerned over growing evidence that Hayat was convicted largely on the basis of his religious identity rather than any evidence of wrongdoing.” According to MLFA executive director Khalil Meek, “Hayat was essentially convicted for possessing a prayer written on paper that asked God for protection. Imagine what impact this will have on everyone’s First Amendment rights if this conviction stands.”

  12. Reason Under Siege in the Academy
    By the hard left.
    January 29, 2018
    Jack Kerwick

Reason is under siege in the academy.

Take as one example the University of California at Santa Cruz. Next week, UC Santa Cruz will host a “Feminist Science” event. The ultimate objective of “Research Justice 101: Tools for Feminist Science” is to instill in researchers the knowledge of how to “practice a socially just science.”

The event will be organized by “Free Radicals,” which is described as “a Los Angeles-based feminist and anti-racist community organization of scientists[.]” The organization “aims to incorporate a critical social justice lens into science” by way of “an interactive workshop on feminist research and engineering practices.”

According to a description of the event, “Justice provides a framework for scientists to think through the hidden assumptions in their methodological approaches, and challenges researchers to think more deeply about the political implications of their work.”

    • This just makes me think of ovaries in a lab dish. Can’t get more method and science than that.

      - Hand 'em over, sister.

Too much patriarchal hard science, I guess.

  13. As walls close in on FBI, the bureau lashes out at its antagonists

What happens when federal agencies accused of possible wrongdoing also control the alleged evidence against them? What happens when they’re the ones in charge of who inside their agencies — or connected to them — ultimately gets investigated and possibly charged?

Those questions are moving to the forefront as the facts play out in the investigations into our intelligence agencies’ surveillance activities.

    There are two overarching issues.

  14. ISRAEL – Right-wing activists invite infiltrators to leftists’ homes

Illegal immigrants in Tel Aviv ‘invited’ to actress Sarah Silverman’s sister’s home as right-wing activists distribute ‘invitations’.

Marzel explained to Arutz Sheva that “I think my offer to Ilan Gilon is very tempting, and the offer of so-called Rabbanit Silverman, whose husband became a billionaire in Africa and sends her with the money he makes in Africa to speak ill of [Israel] as if they’re Nazis and behaving improperly. So I suggest that the Arabs and the infiltrators go and live with them. They will receive them well, give them free meals; sure, Mr. Silverman has lots of money, after all.”

Dr. Ben-Ari explained the flyer’s content: “The flyers offer infiltrators a comfortable place to live: ‘We invite you to come to us, and when they deport you, you will find with us a warm home; with us you’ll find free food,’ etc.

“This week I saw Yoel Marshak regurgitating the words ‘the kibbutzim, the kibbutzim, the kibbutzim’,” referring to a meeting held last Friday between former members of the kibbutz movement and infiltrator leaders. The aim of the gathering was to formulate a systematized plan to aid African infiltrators as April approaches, when the Hulot facility will be closed and infiltrators are to be returned to Africa or imprisoned.

“You can search on Google,” Ben-Ari continues. “Years ago the kibbutzim said they’d accept infiltrators. The kibbutzim haven’t taken in one single infiltrator, but now that we have personal invitations from Ilan Gilon and from Mrs. Silverman, we’re providing the infiltrators with the address so they truly can have a place – or maybe just to expose their hypocrisy…”

Some would say, “Things are moving forward, we’re about to see some action”; maybe it’d be better for you to lower your profile for now?

“Unfortunately, when only their side [the left] speaks out publicly, they generate fear within the government with regards to the [deportation] process. Also very unfortunately, we have something else that’s a disaster unto itself: They are only returning young single males on the whole. The problem, and the great disaster, are the women they brought here, each of them with at least 3-4 children.”

“Here, right next to us, at the Levinsky Police Station, they cleared out the police in order to make fifteen kindergartens for infiltrators. This is a time-bomb in the State of Israel. These children, with their mothers, with their fathers, must be returned home. This is not expulsion; this is return to their homes.”

How do you respond to charges of ‘Nazi’, which we heard today in the Knesset?

Marzel responds: “I must say that when I hear Meretz Knesset Members equating Likud MKs to Nazis, it reminds me of how in the past they would equate my teacher, Rabbi Kahane, and others from the Right to Nazis. Remove the Holocaust, remove the entire disaster that visited the Jewish people from the political lexicon; here we must speak to the point: There are infiltrators who are here and harm the State of Israel, and if the Leftists don’t succeed in destroying the State with the Arabs, let them not try to do it with the infiltrators.”

Tens of thousands of illegal immigrants crossed into Israel over the past decade via the southern border with Egypt. Most of the infiltrators came from Eritrea, Sudan, Somalia, and other countries in northeastern Africa.

Following the construction of the border fence along the Israeli-Egyptian frontier, illegal border crossings plummeted by more than 99% – but only after nearly 60,000 illegal immigrants entered Israel prior to the construction of the fence in 2012.

A law passed last week will enable the government to deport illegal immigrants who have in the past refused to self-deport in exchange for $3,500 in cash. The bill also granted a limited three-month extension for the operation of the Hulot detention center, effectively putting a deadline for the deportation of those infiltrators now detained at Hulot.

“There are some 40,000 people (not including those children who were born in Israel) in the territory of the State of Israel, mostly people from the African states of Eritrea and Sudan, who are currently… residing illegally in Israel,” the bill reads in part. “Their residing in Israel, illegally, has many negative consequences – social, economic, and others, including the deterioration of the rule of law and the right of the State to determine who may enter the country and who may reside there.”

The State intends to bring about the comprehensive departure of infiltrators to a third-party state.

Some 15,000 infiltrators self-deported since 2014, though some 40,000 – not including children born to illegal immigrants in Israel – remain in the country.

Former Knesset Member Dr. Michael Ben-Ari retired from the “Our Land of Israel” faction in 2012 and established a new political movement, Otzma Yehudit, joined by his Knesset aides Baruch Marzel and Itamar Ben Gvir.

MK Ben-Ari has been in the forefront of advocating for Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria. He had been a member of the National Union Party (Ichud Leumi) which was a conglomeration of four different religious and secular factions. The National Union merged with the Jewish Home Party (Bayit Yehudi), which Ben-Ari felt would weaken their Zionist message.

The Otzma Yehudit party narrowly failed to pass the electoral threshold for the Knesset in 2013 and again in the 2015 elections when it ran on a joint list with former Shas chief Eli Yishai in the Yahad party.

Baruch Marzel, a resident of Tel Rumeida, Hevron, was parliamentary assistant to Rabbi Meir Kahane when he was a Knesset Member for the Kach party in the 1980’s. In 2015, the Central Elections Committee voted to disqualify Otzma Yehudit candidate Marzel from running in elections under the joint Yachad – Ha’am Itanu list. On appeal, however, the Supreme Court permitted Marzel’s candidacy.

    • Netanyahu Responds to “Baseless” Charges over Labor Migrants Policy

Prime Minister Netanyahu told the Israeli Cabinet on Sunday: “Genuine refugees and their families will remain in Israel. We have no obligation to allow illegal labor migrants who are not refugees to remain here. They will be sent to another country….International law and the decision of the High Court of Justice here in Israel allow us to send illegal labor migrants beyond the borders of the state.”

“The designated country to which they are being sent has already absorbed 180,000 refugees under the aegis and supervision of the UN, because the UN considers it to be one of the safest countries in Africa. Therefore, this campaign [against Israel’s policy] is baseless and absurd, especially today.”

  15. On Sunday night the Justice Department was granted access to view the House Intelligence Committee memo known as the ‘Nunes Memo’. In unusual timing, last night FBI Director Christopher Wray went to the secure facility (SCIF) in the basement of the House of Representatives to view the content of the House Intel Committee memo.

Today, the FBI releases an announcement saying Deputy FBI Director Andrew “Andy” McCabe has stepped down (been removed) from his position effective immediately.

    • BREITBART – FAKE NEWS: Public Broadcaster Admits To Increasing Booing Sounds During Trump Davos Speech

German public broadcaster ARD has been blasted after admitting it “boosted” the sound of booing at the speech given by U.S. President Donald Trump late last week.

President Trump gave his speech at Davos on Thursday, again delivering sharp criticism to the mainstream media. He stated: “it wasn’t until I became a politician that I realized how nasty, how mean, how vicious, and how fake the press can be.”

ARD released a clip of the speech on the Twitter account for its popular news programme “Tagesschau” in which distinct boos could be heard directly after the President’s comments.

A short time later the programme admitted it had booted the volume of the audio in order to showcase the booing. The show has since been accused of “manipulation”, Stern reports.

Those behind the programme wrote on Twitter, “We did actually make the sound a little louder at the end so that you can hear the booing. Only in this way can we reflect what our correspondents have reported.”

Editor-in-chief of the German tabloid newspaper Bild Julian Reichelt called out those involved saying it was, “hard to imagine that you would have done the same for applause.”

Kai Gniffke, the editor in chief of ARD defended the move saying that it proved the reporting of his journalists.

“By the way, newspapers also make comparisons when they enlarge image sections and may even mark them with a red circle – nobody would come up with the idea of calling this manipulation, but rather journalistic precision,” he said.

The move is not the first time the German media has shown a bias against the U.S. President.

German left-leaning magazine Der Spiegel has been slammed by many for its various magazine covers including one that depicted President Trump cutting off the head of the Statue of Liberty designed to be reminiscent of Islamic State executions.

Some in the German press have also engaged in radical rhetoric regarding Trump and his presidency with Josef Joffe, editor and publisher of left-wing paper Die Zeit, saying last year on a political panel television programme that the only way to end the “Trump catastrophe” was a “murder in the White House.”

In a more bizarre comment, editor in chief of the centre-right paper Die Welt Ulf Poschardt said that the best way for Germans to oppose Trump was to be more multicultural and more “gay.”

Germany’s establishment media collectively lost their minds when Breitbart London reported on a cathedral being set on fire in January last year, in addition to the use of an illustrative jetski photo which happened to include a barely recognisable, famous semi-retired footballer.

  16. The mayor of China’s capital city Beijing has announced that workers would demolish 15 square miles of homes used by low-paid migrant workers. Many migrants have lived in these homes for years or decades, but now the city is declaring the homes to be illegal structures. The migrants will be evicted and left homeless.

Officials are not saying how many migrant workers would be evicted by the demolitions this year. However, in general terms, Beijing would like to reduce the population of Beijing by 15 percent, and this would fall most heavily on the estimated 3 million migrant workers living in Beijing, or 450,000. Other reports estimate 8 million migrant workers in Beijing. The larger figure may include suburbs.

  17. Washington (CNN)A Russian Su-27 jet performed an unsafe intercept of a US Navy surveillance plane while it was flying in international airspace over the Black Sea Monday, three defense officials told CNN.

The American pilots reported that the Russian jet came within 5 feet of the US plane, according to two of the officials.
The Russian jet’s action forced the US Navy aircraft to end its mission prematurely, one of the officials said.
US Naval Forces Europe, which oversees US operations in the region, later confirmed the incident in a statement.

  18. Police in Indonesia have detained 12 transgender women, cutting their long hair and saying they were “coaching” them to behave like “real men”.

Several beauty salons in Aceh province were raided over the weekend and transgender women working there taken to the local police station.

The transgender women, who were also forced to wear men’s clothes, will be held for three days.

Aceh is the only province in Indonesia that has strict Islamic religious law.

The move has been condemned by human rights groups.

Police said they were negotiating Monday with a man who holed up for several hours in a hotel room on the University of Minnesota’s East Bank campus in Minneapolis after officers went there to do a welfare check and arrest him on a warrant for a nonviolent “white collar” crime out of Arizona.

  26. the guardian – Russia is aiming to interfere in US midterm elections, warns CIA chief

Mike Pompeo says ‘I have every expectation that they will continue to try’ to meddle in House and Senate races in November

Russia is set to continue its campaign of meddling in foreign elections by targeting the congressional midterm races in America, the head of the CIA has warned.

Mike Pompeo, director of the agency, told the BBC he had not seen a “significant decrease” in Russian activity and his concerns extend to the House and Senate polls in November.

“I have every expectation that they will continue to try and do that but I’m confident that America will be able to have a free and fair election [and] that we will push back in a way that is sufficiently robust that the impact they have on our election won’t be great,” Pompeo said.

The CIA concluded that Moscow interfered in the 2016 presidential election – leaking hacked Democratic communications and flooding social media with misinformation – but Donald Trump has repeatedly dismissed special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation as a “hoax” and “witch hunt”. The White House has been accused of not taking the Russian threat seriously and failing to adopt counter-measures.[…]
BBC – Russia ‘will target US mid-term elections’ says CIA chief

The director of the CIA expects that Russia will target the US mid-term elections later this year.

      • BREITBART – Pelosi: Nunes Is Trump’s ‘Stooge’ — GOP Involved in a ‘Cover-Up’

Monday on CNN’s “Cuomo Primetime,” House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) discussed the House Intelligence Committee voting to make public a classified memo on potential FBI political bias.

Pelosi said Intel Committee chairman Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) was a “stooge of the White House” and part of a Republican “cover-up.”

Pelosi said, “I’m very proud of Adam Schiff and our House Democrats for protecting the integrity of the intelligence community. This is a very big honor that the leader gives to the ranking member, that the speaker gives to the chairman, to be deputized, to protect the intelligence. Intelligence for force protection of our troops, for fighting terrorism and the rest of that. Instead, Chairman Nunes has acted like a stooge with the speaker.”

She continued, “A stooge of the White House, at the acquiescence, or maybe the guidance, of the Speaker of the House. This is not about one thing or another. This is about the integrity and the safety of our national security.”

She added, “They have crossed from dangerously and recklessly dealing with intelligence to a cover-up of an investigation that they don’t want the American people to see come to fruition, and that is most unfortunate. Now, I have probably longer standing than anybody in the history of the Congress on intelligence. I’ve served there as a member. I was a ranking member in my time there, and then in the leadership as a member of the Gang of Eight. So I’ve had access to all of the intelligence, which Mr. Nunes could have access to, but has not.

She continued, “I’ve seen it. I’ve seen not only the memo and the basis for the memo, but the underlying documents. What they’re putting forth is totally false. And they’re putting it out there as if it is factual and then saying, we’re going to show this to the American people, but we’re not going to show the rebuttal to it by the Democrats. Now, the Democrats have said rightfully. We shouldn’t be putting anything out unless it has been reviewed and redacted by intelligence.”
