  2. EU agrees clampdown on bitcoin platforms to tackle money laundering

BRUSSELS (Reuters) – European Union states and legislators agreed on Friday on stricter rules to prevent money laundering and terrorism financing on exchange platforms for bitcoin and other virtual currencies, the EU said in a statement.

The agreement is part of a broader set of measures to tackle financial crimes and tax evasion. EU legislators also backed stricter controls on pre-paid cards, and raised transparency requirements for the owners of trusts and companies.

  3. Tillerson urges long halt to North Korea weapons tests before any talks

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) – U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Friday urged North Korea to carry out a “sustained cessation” of weapons testing to allow the two countries to hold talks about Pyongyang’s nuclear and missile programs.

Tillerson’s remarks were a retreat from his position earlier this week when he offered to begin direct talks with North Korea without preconditions, backing away from a key U.S. demand that Pyongyang must first accept that giving up its nuclear arsenal would be part of any negotiations.

But the White House distanced itself from those remarks by Tillerson and said now is not the time for negotiations.

“North Korea must earn its way back to the table. The pressure campaign must and will continue until denuclearization is achieved,” Tillerson told a meeting of the United Nations Security Council on North Korea’s weapons programs. He did not specify how long the lull should last.

He told reporters after the meeting that the United States would not accept any preconditions for talks with North Korea.

Tillerson had raised hopes this week that the United States and North Korea could negotiate to resolve their standoff when he said that the United States was “ready to talk any time North Korea would like to talk.”

  4. Obama State Dept. let Clinton, Huma walk away with boxes of ‘Muslim engagement’ docs
By LU Staff December 15, 2017

The Obama State Department allowed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her top aide Huma Abedin to remove call logs, scheduling documents, and files described as “Muslim Engagement” from government premises by labeling the records “private,” Judicial Watch has learned.

Judicial Watch obtained records about the document removals in response to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for all forms authorizing the removal of “personal papers and non-record materials,” according to a Thursday press release.

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said in a statement:

These new documents show the Obama State Department had a deal with Hillary Clinton to hide her calls logs and schedules, which would be contrary to FOIA and other laws. When are the American people going to get an honest investigation of the Clinton crimes?

The documents, which are not classified but carry a special notation that they are not to be made public under normal FOIA procedure, include a list of Clinton’s personal and official calls. The special notation was included as part of an addendum signed by Clarence N. Finney Jr., then-director of the Office of Correspondence and Records, who reviewed the records.

  5. Richard: The Hollywood left is making fools of themselves again and again proving they know nothing about economics or international relations. Actor Will Smith following Alabama election: Let’s ‘cleanse’ the nation till its Obamaesque
By Joe Newby December 15, 2017

While appearing at a California press event, actor Will Smith weighed in on the special election in Alabama in somewhat apocalyptic terms, making a statement similar to one he made during last year’s general election.

“This is the purge, right? This is the cleanse, this is what happens. This is the natural reaction to the amount of light that came into the world when Barack Obama was president,” he said.

Writing at Newsbusters, Corinne Weaver reported:

Given that Smith was one of the original Obama fangirls, who told alleged sex harasser Matt Lauer that “it just hasn’t been a good thing to be American” until Obama was elected in 2008, the reaction was normal.

But Smith didn’t stop there. He continued in his rant, “We had to expect that [the pendulum] was going to go the other way. As a cleanse — this is the darkness before the dawn.”

In the year 2016, Smith used the same kind of language to describe Trump supporters, saying, “As painful as it is to hear Donald Trump talk and as embarrassing as it is as an American to hear him talk, I think it’s good. [W]e get to know who people are and now we get to cleanse it out of our country.”

  7. VIRGINIA IMAM SHAKER ELSAYED ENDORSES FEMALE CIRCUMCISION (FGM)

During a sermon in Fairfax County, Virginia, Imam Shaker Elsayed endorsed the practice of female circumcision, saying that it was “the honorable thing for girls” in cases when it is necessary in order to prevent hypersexuality.

“A Muslim gynecologist can tell you if you need to or not,” he said, adding that the practice damages the woman’s sexuality only if more is cut off than necessary.

The Egyptian-born Shaker Elsayed, who has been the resident imam at Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center since June 2005 and served as Secretary-General of the Muslim American Society in 2000-2005, further warned that “in societies where circumcision of girls is completely prohibited, hypersexuality takes over the entire society, and a woman is not satisfied with one person, or two, or three.”

For another sermon by Imam Elsayed, in which he said that the children of Israel had slayed prophets, see MEMRI TV clip 5989. Dar Al-Hijrah was the mosque where top Al-Qaeda leader Anwar Al-Awlaki served as imam, including on 9/11.

Shaker Elsayed: [Circumcision is] a sunna for the boys, and the honorable thing to do – if needed – for the girls. This is something that a Muslim gynecologist can tell you if you need to or not. The Prophet… There used to be a lady who used to do this for women, or, I mean, young girls. She is expected to cut only the tip of the sexual sensitive part in the girl, so that she is not hypersexually active. This is the purpose

Clearly, not nearly enough. When complete genital amputation (just like Arab Muslims imposed upon West African slaves) becomes the norm, only then might I begin to accept such measures.

  8. Trump to remove ‘climate change’ as a national security threat

The Trump administration will reverse course from previous Obama administration policy, eliminating climate change from a list of national security threats. The National Security Strategy to be released on Monday will emphasize the importance of balancing energy security with economic development and environmental protection, according to a source who has seen the document and shared excerpts of a late draft.

“Climate policies will continue to shape the global energy system,” a draft of the National Security Strategy slated to be released on Monday said. “U.S. leadership is indispensable to countering an anti-growth, energy agenda that is detrimental to U.S. economic and energy security interests. Given future global energy demand, much of the developing world will require fossil fuels, as well as other forms of energy, to power their economies and lift their people out of poverty.”

President Obama made climate change, and the burdensome regulations that accompany its focus, a primary focus of his administration, including in his National Security Strategy released in 2015. “[W]e are working toward an ambitious new global climate change agreement to shape standards for prevention, preparedness, and response over the next decade,” that report said.

“In some ways, [climate change] is akin to the problem of terrorism and ISIL,” Obama said at climate talks in Paris in 2015. During a weekly address, Obama said “Today, there is no greater threat to our planet than climate change.”

In September 2016, President Obama released a memorandum requiring federal agencies to consider the effects of climate change in the development of national security-related doctrine, policies, and plans. All of this alarmed critics concerned with more pressing security risks.

  10. Libya: Libyan Coastguard rescues hundreds of refugees near coast of Algarabolli

Between 250 to 270 refugees were rescued by the Libyan Coastguard and taken to the port of Tripoli, on Saturday.

The refugees were saved by the Libyan Coastguard near the coast of Algarabolli, just east of Tripoli.

Eritrean refugee Muftar recounted, “We lost the direction and we began to go everywhere without any compass, without anything, we were just going, we do not know to where, then we lost the way, we did not know where we are going, after that the Libyan got us.”

The migrants were towed to the Port of Tripoli, where they were fed and given medical treatment by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and International Medical Corps (IMC).

In 2016, the 470km (292 mile) sea crossing claimed an average of 13 lives every day, with many more unreported. Thousands end up trapped in detention centres, some run by the government, some by armed militia.

  12. Police hunt after ‘gay men punched and told you are not welcome in homophobic attacks’ in Walthamstow

Police are hunting a suspect after gay men were punched and told “you are not welcome” in east London.

One of the victims was punched to the ground and left with a black eye after he was attacked in Walthamstow late on evening.

Another victim was grappled with and told “you are not welcome” as he walked along the high street with his husband after a night out.

Police have released two e-fits based on detailed descriptions from both victims and are investigating the possibility that the attacks were carried out by the same man.

In the first attack on Sunday, October 8, the first victim, a 47-year-old man, was walking along Walthamstow High Street with his husband after a night out in Walthamstow Village.

They were approached by a man who asked them if he could take a picture of them and then asked if they were gay.

Police said the two men walked away but the suspect then grabbed hold of the victim and said “you are not welcome” and grappled with him.

The victim was then pulled away by his husband before they walked away and called police. He was not injured.

In the second attack on Saturday, November 4, the victim, a 31-year-old man, was walking along Hoe Street with two friends.

They were approached by three men who they did not know. One of them allegedly punched the victim in the face and shouted homophobic abuse at him. The attacker fled, police said.

The victim suffered a black eye and cuts and bruises but he did not need to go to hospital.

Scotland Yard said the victims, who were both left extremely shaken after the incidents, provided detailed descriptions of the attacker from which the two e-fits were produced.

A spokesman said: “Based on these descriptions and the locations where the assaults happened, officers have not ruled out the possibility that the attacks may well have been carried out by the same man.”

  13. Human rights insanity: Barmy laws are preventing 6,000 foreign criminals including killers and rapists being deported while 200 a year are receiving millions of pounds in compensation (dailymaill, Dec 16, 2017)
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5185199/Laws-preventing-6-000-criminals-deported.html

“Given the £110,000 compensation payment winging its way towards his bank account, Aliou Bah ought to be a very happy man indeed.

The 28-year-old refugee from Guinea, West Africa, who has two convictions for sexual assault, was awarded the bumper payout last week at Central London County Court after a judge ruled he had been detained for too long by the Home Office while they were trying to deport him.

A jaw-dropping decision indeed, as Judge Nicholas Madge ‘wholeheartedly’ acknowledged when he said that people would believe Bah’s victims — one of whom was only 16 at the time he assaulted her — deserved large payouts, not him.

We shall turn to the Kafka-esque legal shenanigans behind the claim later, but that offensive payout to Bah is just the tip of a very disturbing iceberg.

In actuality, an average of 200 such cases come before the courts every year, typically costing the taxpayer £4.5 million in compensation payouts and making a mockery of Home Office pledges to deport foreign nationals who commit serious crimes.

And, as we shall see, most of these compensation claims have their roots in the highly controversial 1998 Human Rights Act which has fuelled an apparently never-ending merry-go-round of ‘unlawful detention’ claims, often pursued by no-win, no-fee solicitors on behalf of immigrants and refugees with criminal records.

The Home Office says there is a huge risk that criminals facing deportation will abscond if they are not detained.

But inevitable delays caused by obfuscating legal challenges can easily lead to a situation whereby a foreign criminal is deemed to have been kept in detention for too long.

In November 2013, sex offender Jumaa Kater Saleh, a 25-year-old from Sudan, won the right to damages for being unlawfully detained for two years despite being previously jailed for four years for being part of a child sex ring which lured girls as young as 13 to a house for sex.

Saleh, who arrived in the UK in the back of a lorry aged 16 in 2004, was refused asylum but given discretionary leave to remain in the UK until he was 18. He committed his crimes just three years later.

Last month, 39-year-old Somalian Abdulrahman Mohammed — a man with a criminal career spanning 20 years — was awarded £78,500 after his claim for unlawful detention was upheld at the High Court in London.

Mohammed, who lives in West London and has 30 convictions, has been jailed 13 times for crimes including affray, knife possession, assaults and robberies.

He was detained for 445 days too long while the Home Office attempted to deport him. His lawyers took the case to the European Court of Human Rights, arguing that as a boy in the Somalian capital Mogadishu, he had suffered torture and ‘unimaginable barbarity’, leaving him with post-traumatic stress disorder. The UK was ordered not to remove him from the country ‘until further notice’.

Despite acknowledging that he was ‘a prolific and violent offender’ and saying he could ‘well understand why the Home Secretary might wish to deport him’, Judge Edward Pepperall QC ruled that Mohammed had been ‘falsely imprisoned’ and was ‘entitled to justice in a civilised society’.

The same verdict was delivered in relation to Naseer Chawki, a failed asylum-seeker claiming to be a 34-year-old from Iran, who was jailed for ‘revolting’ sex crimes on a crowded London Underground train and was placed in immigration detention for more than four years while the Home Office battled to deport him…”

  14. CBC – MONTREAL MOSQUE – False report, real consequences in Quebec

A false report from TVA had real consequences in Quebec. The network reported two Montreal mosques asked a construction company to exclude female workers from a nearby work site. That report provoked death threats and outrage online despite officials with the mosque repeating that the report is false. After an investigation, the story fell apart and TVA backed away from it.

[ .....Of course they didn't find an official written demand by the Muslim clerics --- but they don't even seem to consider that most probably there could have been an "unofficial" request made by any ordinary Muslim worshipping at the mosque ....]

    https://aawsat.com/english/home/article/1114681/un-urges-iraq-immediately-halt-executions

“The United Nations rights office has urged Iraq to immediately halt all executions, stressing that putting to death 38 terrorist suspects was “deeply shocking.”

“We are deeply shocked and appalled at the mass execution” at a prison in the southern city of Nasiriyah on Thursday, United Nations human rights office spokeswoman Liz Throssell told reporters in Geneva.

“It appears extremely doubtful that strict due process and fair trial guarantees were followed in these 38 cases,” Agence France Presse quoted Throssell as saying on Friday.

The UN has learned of 106 executions in Iraq so far this year, including mass-hangings of 42 people in September.

“We once again urge the Iraqi authorities to halt all executions, establish an immediate moratorium on the use of the death penalty and carry out an urgent and comprehensive review of the criminal justice system,” Throssell said…”

52-year-old Windsor man faces numerous mischief charges

Police have arrested a 52-year-old Windsor man in connection with a spree of Islamic-themed graffiti that targeted media organizations and bus shelters across the city.

The words “Sharia now” and “Islam executes drug dealers” were scrawled in red paint on a bus shelter and the windows of CBC Windsor Wednesday.

Similar messages were spotted at locations around the city including CTV and the Windsor Star.

Police received reports a man matching the description of the suspect was at a business on Chatham Street around noon Friday.

The man was arrested without incident and is facing “numerous” counts of mischief for the property damage.

Police thanked the public and media for spreading the word on the investigation and locating the suspect.

  19. ITALY – FLORENCE – In good faith: Catholic Church sells land for Florence’s first mosque

Muslims in Florence who have campaigned for years to be allowed to build a mosque are to be sold land by the Catholic Church.

Despite opposition from local residents the diocese of Florence has agreed to sell a parcel of church land in Sesto Fiorentino, close to the Tuscan city, meaning Muslims in the area will no longer be forced to pray in garages and basements.

Cardinal Giuseppe Betori, the Archbishop of Florence, told city officials: “Everyone has a right to a dignified place to practise their own religion.”

Reluctance by local authorities to allow mosques is widespread and nothing new. A decade ago a group of councillors in Padua, northern Italy, walked a pig across a site where a mosque was planned in the hope that it would desecrate the site.

By contrast the Pope has hosted Muslim refugees from Syria in Vatican-owned apartments and recently campaigned for the protection of Muslim Rohingya refugees fleeing Burma.

“It’s fairly common for Italian priests to open churches for Muslim worship when mosques are vandalised or burnt down,” Lorenzo Vidino, an expert on extremism from George Washington University in the US, said. “Compare that to people like Matteo Salvini, head of the Northern League, and the Italian right, which thinks the church is betraying Christianity by supporting a large Muslim presence in Italy.”

Izzedin Elzir, an imam in Florence, said that there were at least 800 unofficial places of Muslim worship set up in back rooms across Italy but only a few proper mosques. He said he hoped the land deal, to be signed this month, would encourage politicians to allow Muslims to build “more dignified mosques.”

The church’s desire to see places of worship made available to all faiths follows a deal signed last year by the Italian government with the Association of Muslim Communities in Italy, which Mr Elzir runs, to deliver Friday sermons and Koran readings in Italian. The aim is to prevent the spread of extremism and better integrate Italy’s 1.7 million Muslims. Italy has not suffered a major terrorist attack by jihadists.

Mr Vidino said he had doubts, however, about the Association of Muslim Communities in Italy. “They admitted receiving €25 million from a religious charity in Qatar and they have a track record of links to extremists — people with strong views on integration.”

  20. UK – Luton man jailed for 12 years for sexually abusing young girl

A man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for sexually abusing a four-year-old girl.

Jenev Varghese, 32, of Foxglove Way, Luton, a former championship body builder, was sentenced at Luton Crown Court today (Wednesday) after being found guilty of two counts of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13.

During the trial the jury heard how Varghese sexually assaulted the young girl on a number of occasions and threatened to kill her family if she spoke out.

Detective Constable Samantha Shane, of the Bedfordshire Police Public Protection Unit, said: “Varghese took advantage and abused his incredibly young victim in the worst way possible.

“It is impossible to comprehend the abuse that this child suffered, but I hope that her and her family are now able to move on from this awful experience.

“Child sexual abuse is one of the most heinous crimes and it will not be tolerated in our county. We are committed to tackling these sickening individuals and ensuring that they are made to pay for their actions, while at the same time providing the very best support to victims and their families.

“I’m really pleased with the severe sentence today and I hope it sends a stark warning to others who think they can abuse children and get away with it.”

Anyone who has concerns about child sexual abuse should report it to Bedfordshire Police on 101.

  21. Italy: ‘Rights without borders’ – Thousands rally in Rome against slavery in Libya

Thousands of people took to the streets of Rome on Saturday, to protest against the enslaving and selling of black Africans in Libya, following an incriminating CNN report about slave auctions in the country.

The protesters marched from Piazza della Repubblica to Piazza del Popolo, holding rallies in both squares. They condemned European Union and Italian agreements with Libya as being a prime cause of people being sold as slaves there. Protesters asked for residence permits on humanitarian grounds for refugees without protection, as well as dignity and a better future.

In the words of one demonstrator, Saturday’s protest was “the demonstration of the invisible, the ones that Europe doesn’t want to make visible, and the ones that Italy and the Italian government keep hiding.”

      • I wonder if any of them really think they are doing something to stop slavery?

        They’re polishing their halos.

Stopping Islamic slavery will require bombing runs, which none of these pansy-@ssed tossers even have the courage to mention or suggest.

  22. Soros Joins Top Names in African Deal

What unites once the world’s most powerful foreign secretary, once the world’s most powerful hedge fund manager and a scion of perhaps once the world’s most powerful banking dynasty? The answer, surprisingly, is a London-based private equity manager investing in Africa, writes James Mawson, editor of Private Equity News.

Helios Investment Partners, an independent firm set up five years ago by two former executives from TPG Capital, a large and very influential buyout group, has pulled off the feat of bringing George Soros, Madeleine Albright and Jacob Rothschild into the same deal to open up mobile phones to the other half of the African population without telecommunication access.

As co-investors in Helios Towers Africa, the four have committed an initial $350m in equity to buy mobile phone masts in the continent outside of Nigeria and boost telecoms penetration rates beyond 45%.

Temitope Lawani, a co-founder of Helios, said the firm had previously invested with Soros Strategic Partners, the private equity operation of the hedge fund manager who effectively forced the devaluation of sterling more than a decade earlier, in Africa. Soros has been a successful backer of US mobile phone towers, having bought Sprint’s 3,000 masts a few years before, and knows the sector well.

Albright and Rothschild are big investors in emerging markets: Madeline through raising $350m for the Albright Capital Markets fund in 2007, while Lord Rothschild has family investments in emerging markets and runs RIT Capital Partners, a listed investment company.

Lawani said as a result of their expertise, Helios had approached them to join as coinvestors in Helios Towers Africa.

  23. African asylum seeker, 72, who scammed taxpayers out of £40,000 of benefits after he fled BACK to his Somali homeland because he ‘missed the sunshine’ is jailed (dailymail, Dec 16, 2017)
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5185817/Refugee-received-benefits-returning-homeland.html

“A Somalian refugee, who continued receiving nearly £39,000 in benefits after returning to his homeland because he missed the sunshine, has been jailed for fifteen months.

Pensioner Mohamed Qoomaal, 72, had pension credit payments sent to him for two-and-a-half years and a mystery person enjoyed rent-free living in his council-funded home.

He even forged an immigration stamp on his British passport in a failed attempt to trick investigators into accepting he had been residing in the UK.

Qoomaal pleaded guilty to two counts of dishonestly failing to notify a change of circumstances regarding Pension Credit and Housing Benefit between August 20, 2013 and February 22, 2016.

Incredibly Qoomaal, of 70 Archery Close, Harrow continued to receive benefits, minus a £44 per-week deduction to compensate the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP).

At that rate it would have taken Qoomaal, who also burdens the NHS with heart and renal issues, seventeen years to repay the £38,869.97p total.

Despite arriving in this country fifteen years ago he also needed a taxpayer-funded interpreter during eight court hearings.

‘Why does he live here? Why is he entitled to benefits? What’s he doing here?’ asked Isleworth Crown Court Judge Jonathan Ferris.

‘He can’t have made much of a contribution to the pension credit he is receiving.’

‘He failed to notify the fact he was living abroad in Somalia and in order to mislead investigators he fabricated an immigration stamp in his passport,’ said prosecutor Miss Lisa Matthews.

The court heard Qoomaal wanted to live in a warmer climate for health benefits and only returned to the UK when he heard he was wanted for questioning…”

“A Muslim man is taking Butlin’s holiday camp to court claiming racial and religious discrimination, as his daughter was not allowed on a dodgems ride wearing an Islamic scarf covering her head and neck.

Butlin’s insists all loose-fitting garments near the head are banned, after an incident in 2016 when one got caught causing serious neck injury, and say the case has nothing to do with religion or discrimination.

Moammer Nasser, 41, from Birmingham, has launched a crowdfunding campaign aiming to raise £10,00 for his lawsuit, and enlisted the help of Liberty Law.

He later claimed his family “weren’t allowed on any rides” and was so distressed they cut their holiday short and returned home. “I feel that my family were discriminated against due to our religious and cultural beliefs,” he wrote…”

  25. Two Danish nationals wounded in Gabon knife attack: minister

Two Danish nationals were wounded Saturday in a knife attack in Gabon’s capital apparently committed in retribution for “US attacks against Muslims”, a minister said.

The two men, who were reporters for the National Geographic magazine, were stabbed while shopping in a popular tourist area, said defence minister Etienne Massard.

“According to the first testimonies at the scene, the assailant, a 53-year-old Nigerien man, shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ during the attack. He was arrested on the spot,” said Massard.

The man, who has lived in Gabon for 19 years, “in his first statements said he acted in retaliation for US attacks against Muslims and America’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital”.

The two victims were sent to a hospital in the capital Libreville, one in a serious condition, government spokesman Alain-Claude Bilie By Nze told AFP.

    https://www.rt.com/usa/413411-trillions-dollars-missing-research/

“The US government may have misspent $21 trillion, a professor at Michigan State University has found. Papers supporting the study briefly went missing just as an audit was announced.

Two departments of the US federal government may have spent as much as $21 trillion on things they can’t account for between 1998 and 2015. At least that’s what Mark Skidmore, a Professor of Economics at MSU specializing in public finance, and his team have found…”

    • Keynesian Economics– the mother’s milk of endless wars, corruption, welfare, mass migration and postmodern lunacy.

But it’s ok. Just keep printing.

    • Black budget items, weapons programs that the left will scream about, you know upgrading our weapons systems so they are a generation or two ahead of our enemies. Given the lead time on weapons development those programs are necessary so we will have the weapons we need 20 years down the line.

For the past decade, many in the West have been honing a historically unprecedented narrative — one that not only renounces the culture they have inherited but that denies its very existence. A few examples:

During a press conference in Strasbourg in 2009, for instance, then-President Barack Obama began by downplaying the uniqueness of the United States. “I believe in American exceptionalism, just as I suspect that the Brits believe in British exceptionalism and the Greeks believe in Greek exceptionalism.”

In addition, in 2010, Mona Ingeborg Sahlin, the leader at that time of the Swedish Social Democratic Party, told a gathering of the Turkish youth organization Euroturk:

“I cannot figure out what Swedish culture is. I think that’s what makes many Swedes jealous of immigrant groups. You [immigrants] have a culture, an identity, a history, something that brings you together. And what do we have? We have Midsummer’s Eve and such silly things.”

In October 2015, Ingrid Lomfors, head of the Swedish governmental “Forum for Living History,” later told a group officials, “There is no native Swedish culture.”

In November 2015, the newly sworn-in Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, gave an interview to the New York Times, and published a month later, in which he said:

    • For the Marxists to succeed in establishing their one world dystopian government they have to destroy Western Civilization which is home to such (sarc on) “evil” ideas (sarc off) as, freedom, individual rights, free speech, Greek thought etc. They have pretty much managed to destroy civilization but there are still a lot of people who are fighting for freedom, free speech, individual rights and Greek Thought.

  29. What if Jeff Sessions is not asleep, but instead playing possum?
    By Brian C. Joondeph

Conventional wisdom is that Attorney General Jeff Sessions is asleep at the wheel – from recusing himself unnecessarily from the Trump-Russia collusion investigation to doing nothing about the politicization and weaponization of the Department of Justice. He also gave free rein to his deputy A.G., Rod Rosenstein, who is in turn allowing Special Counsel Robert Mueller unlimited time, money, and jurisdiction to investigate President Trump’s entire life.

Last summer, Trump expressed disappointment in Sessions, calling him “beleaguered,” wondering why Sessions wasn’t looking into Hillary Clinton’s emails and true election chicanery. Rudy Giuliani was floated as a possible replacement. Was Trump truly upset, or was this a calculated head fake?
