Tell me the Opium Wars have nothing to do with flooding a western country with a deadly street drug. Does Communist China have an opioid crisis? My guess is that it does not because they have the death penalty for drug dealers. Therefore fentanyl exports to Canada are intentional and strategic. And it never even occurred to me that such a drug could be found in pot. How frightening and disasterous is that on the eve of Canada legalizing marijuana? Government grown pot won’t protect anyone once opioid sprinkling becomes common practice. Homegrown or Fedgrown–it won’t matter. Unless you grew it yourself you won’t know if it’s safe. Therefore the homegrown illegal industry will explode again despite Trudeau’s best efforts to virtue signal his way to political success. As if our children didn’t have enough to get through with commie school indoctrination and hypersexed media.
Maybe I’m going overboard. Maybe fentanyl won’t find its way into the marijuana supply, but it’s the public health authorities looking for it, not me. How does socialist permissiveness not lead to ruination? And when everything gets screwed up they interview some ivory-tower commie prof who is all knowledge and no sense, and who is utterly clueless that the nonsense he peddles to impressionable minds is part of the problem.
As the American pantry Canada has had a great run, but the time is nigh to save it from itself. On our Remembrance Day this November 11th we honour our fallen soldiers despite our Prime Minister refusing to attend this important day at home.
The sooner our American friends realize the mounting threat coming from their northern neighbor the better. Sure you’ve got your problems, but having to rely on a foreign police force to stop the fentanyl getting into your own country and destroying your own kids is unacceptable considering those police can’t even stop it themselves. How much Chinese fentanyl is going into upstate New York alone through Akwasasne at Cornwall? Why not? All of the illegal cigarettes and god knows what else go that way. Enough.
Just as Europe needs the death penalty to save itself from illegal immigration, Canada needs it to save itself from Communist China fentanyl drug dealers.

In an article titled, “Stop labeling people who commit crimes ‘criminals,’” Kimberley Brownlee, a philosopher at the University of Warwick, calls the word an “epithet”—more commonly used to describe a term conveying something disparaging rather than its alternative definition as merely a neutral tag—and compares it to politically-incorrect terms and phrases for people with disabilities.
“By reducing people to their crimes, we see them as offenders and nothing else, and we force them to see themselves that way,” she writes. “Consequently, we might set up the exact conditions for them to become the kind of person who offends.”
Brownlee, educated at McGill, Cambridge, and Oxford, boasts a Fulbright fellowship and membership on the editorial boards of several academic journals on her resume. She calls labeling people judged guilty in courts of criminal offenses as an act of “prejudice.”
The 39-year-old philosopher titled a 2013 paper “Don’t Call People ‘Rapists.’”
The Washington Times reported last year that a section of the Obama Administration’s Department of Justice announced the substitution of “person who committed a crime” for “felon” and “individual who was incarcerated” for “convict” to remove stigma and psychological barriers for lawbreakers. Social justice activists seek to eradicate criminal justice designations because they allegedly capture a person at their worst moments rather than their entire essence.
Brownlee, whose scholarship focuses on civil disobedience, argues that not all laws find basis in justice, that mitigating circumstances often vindicate the actions of lawbreakers, and that childhood or other experiences often nudge individuals toward misbehavior.
“People who offend are not always blameworthy,” the professor at the Coventry, England, university argues. “And, people who are blameworthy are not always criminally liable. Moreover, even when people are both blameworthy and liable, they have a life story beyond the simple fact of committing a crime.”
Brownlee, who appears dismayed by labels in general, does not offer an alternative to “criminal” but instead challenges her readers with the task of “overcoming a counterproductive prejudice toward people who have offended.””

“The French justice minister, Nicole Belloubet, unveiled on Thursday an experimental programme to fight radicalisation, titled Rive, put into place in France a year ago.
The programme (Research and Intervention in extremist violence) targets people already sentenced or awaiting sentencing for a terrorism-related offence or reported for being radicalised who will, at a judge’s request, undergo mentoring. An association called Apcars (Association of Applied Criminal Policy and Social Reinsertion), which specialises in social and judicial supervision, is in charge of the programme.
A total of 14 people – eight men and six women – are currently being mentored for at least a year by a team of coaches, a psychologist, a religious adviser and a psychiatrist. The mentoring is done on an individual basis with at least six hours per week the first few months. Contact is established with the person’s family and the individual receives help to become independent administratively.
The programme is the exact opposite of previous ones put in place in France, which consisted of gathering inmates reported in terrorism cases, either to evaluate them or to isolate them within a dedicated area.
Diverse profiles, targeted offers
Ten of the people being monitored by Rive have been sentenced or prosecuted for criminal association in relation to a terrorist undertaking. Yet the profiles are diverse, ranging from a returnee from Syria to someone prosecuted for being a terrorism apologist. One is under house arrest, while another wears an electronic bracelet.
“The aim is to help them give up extremist violence,” said Samantha Enderlin, Rive’s director. “With this in mind, we favour coaching, a tailor-made approach based on a trusting relationship, alongside the activities of the probation and rehabilitation services.”
Under this tailor-made approach, one person might do volunteer work in order to improve their self-esteem; another might visit the memorial in Verdun, northeastern France, to Muslims who fought for France in the First World War; a third might have a meeting with an expert on Islam.
France, which has faced waves of terrorist attacks since 2015, is trying to contain the phenomenon of jihadist radicalisation.
In French prisons, “they are around 500 very radicalised inmates,” said Belloubet, adding, “So we have to act.”
The country’s only deradicalisation centre, which opened last September near the Loire valley, was shut down in July due to a lack of positive results.”

“They are now trying to pump up this idea again. The ban was recently lifted with an order from King Salman requesting that driving licenses be issued to women.
“You say ‘moderate Islam’ but you do not allow women to drive. Is there any restriction in Islam banning women from driving? There is no such thing,” he said.
The Saudi Crown Prince had made his “moderate Islam” pledge at the Future Investment Initiative conference in Riyadh on Oct. 25.
“Saudi was not like it is today before 1979. Saudi Arabia and the entire region went through a religious revival after 1979 … But now all we will do is go back to what we were: A moderate Islam that is open to all religions, to the world, and to all traditions and people,” he said.
Meanwhile, President Erdo?an also blasted the OIC for “obstructing” certain plans that Turkey wants to implement to support women’s rights within the OIC.
“Turkey proposes a women’s platform within the OIC but some leaders of the organization do not agree,” he added.”

With refugees and immigration policies serving as one of the main stumbling stones in Germany’s ongoing coalition talks, NGOs cautioned on Friday against the rising trend of development aid being used to further Germany’s political goals at home.
“There’s a growing danger that the use of development funds will be more determined by the domestic debate on migration management and security than by the shared responsibility of a rich, industrialized country for sustainable global development,” Germany’s Welthungerhilfe, an organization that fights hunger worldwide, and the child welfare organization Terre des Hommes said in their annual joint report.
“Human rights are in danger of falling by the wayside,” they added.
The report, titled “Compass 2030: The Reality of German Development Policy” urged that development policy “must not be instrumentalized” by Germany’s next government to further migration or internal security goals.
The charity organizations advised against folding development policy into Germany’s Foreign Ministry, saying it should be treated as an independent policy area. They expressed concern that development initiatives would get lost in the competition between Germany’s ministries.
“The new legislative period presents and opportunity for a strategy debate on how development cooperation will be organized in the future,” the report “Compass 2030: The Reality of German Development Policy” states.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel and other European leaders have been pushing for more development cooperation with African nations to boost their economies and create jobs in order to reduce the number of migrants and refugees coming to Europe.
The G20 action plan agreed upon in Hamburg this summer took an “every man for himself” approach to carrying out development initiatives in African countries rather than agreeing on common, binding goals, the NGOs said.
They cited three separate economic initiatives for Africa from Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Finance Ministry (BMF) and the Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy as “prime examples of competing rather than coherent policies.”
Combatting the cause, not the symptom
Welthungerhilfe and Terre des Hommes also called on the next German government to put more effort into preventing conflicts rather than fueling them.
Germany should “no longer speak about combatting the causes of migration while at the same time arming countries engaged in conflicts, like Saudi Arabia,” Terre des Hommes board spokesman Jörg Angerstein said in a statement.
“A policy that seeks to fight the causes of migration must also address the number one cause — conflicts and instability,” the report stated, adding that “migration can neither be stopped nor decisively controlled.”
Development aid can only help reduce the number of people who flee their home countries “due to a lack of perspectives and political participation” by improving their living conditions.”

Terror group Allied Democratic Force (AFD) attacked a Christian hospital during a series of sectarian attacks in DR Congo over the past few weeks.
And a neighbourhood in the town of Beni was attacked by heavily-armed jihadis using bombs and explosives just the day before.
The terrorists, according to one Christian missionary in the area, are attempting to “carve out” a Sharia law-run caliphate in the east of the troubled country – often referred to as the ‘broken heart of Africa’.
He relayed shocking details of an attack in the city of Beni to Open Doors, an international ministry fighting for persecuted Christians.
The missionary said: “Rebels attacked our house and neighbourhood. It was a real battlefield. Bombs, gun fire and people running. Large calibre shells are everywhere.
“A thousand or so people fled the area towards the centre of Beni. All the children, workers and seven neighbours were crammed into one tiny room very afraid.
“They saw these men jump over the wall. There was gunfire and bombs and yelling and screaming. All were terrified.”
The attack took place on October 26. The following day another attack took place in the city when terrorists raided a Christian hospital.
Nyankunde Evangelical hospital, which belongs to seven evangelist churches, was targeted by Islamic extremists in terrifying scenes.
A source told Open Doors: “The attackers woke up the director of the hospital at about 1m, and forced him to lie down on the floor. They told him to give them all the money he kept with him.
“Another medical personnel were also ordered to lie on the floor. His left hand was injured. They also looted money, some medicine and about 40 mobile phones belonging to the patients, carers and nurses.”

Layoffs Hit GQ as Condé Nast Cuts Continue
Around seven editorial staffers in print and digital were let go.
Condé Nast layoffs are under way, and GQ is one of the first titles to be targeted for a round of cuts. Around seven editorial staffers were let go on Thursday. Among those laid off were executive digital director Mike Hofman, fashion director Madeline Weeks and digital entertainment editor Ashley Fetters.
“So: Yesterday GQ laid me off, alongside a slew of extremely talented others. Still not the worst Nov. 9 of my life, somehow?! But a sad one nonetheless,” Fetters said via her personal Twitter account Friday.
More cuts are expected at other titles in the coming weeks. The fashion department at Allure was also reduced, according to multiple sources. A Condé Nast spokesperson declined to comment.

Black Death latest: New country on alert as plague outbreak threatens to SPREAD
MALAWI has been put on high alert as the devastating plague outbreak in Madagascar continues to escalate.
At least 143 people have died and 2,000 have been infected since the outbreak began in early August.
Nine surrounding African countries were previously told to brace for the disease.
They include South Africa, Mozambique, Tanzania Kenya, Ethiopia, Comoros, the Seychelles, Mauritius and Reunion.
But now Malawi’s health secretary has confirmed the country is ready for any outbreaks amid concerns over the African nation’s “porous borders”.
Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Dr Dan Namarika, said Malawi has “cross border teams that interface with our Mozambique counterparts”.
Mozambique is located between Malawi and Madagascar and would likely report plague cases before they hit Malawi, but the country’s health officials have been briefed on plague symptoms just in case there are any outbreaks.

Young Turks’ Cenk Uygur claims Christianity to blame for Holocaust

While “moderating” a panel at the Web Summit, an annual tech conference based in Europe, Cenk Uygur, the far-left co-founder of the Young Turks YouTube page, claimed that Christianity was to blame for the Nazi Holocaust, Conservative Review reported Thursday.
According to Jordan Schachtel:
Dr. Jasser, a Muslim, stressed the need for a global Islamic reformation, one that preaches tolerance and a more secular way of life. He urged co-panelists not to coddle Muslims and to recognize the threat posed by global jihadist groups motivated by political Islam.
Seemingly offended by Jasser’s remarks, Uygur fired back, defending Islam as a whole and targeting Christianity.
“People make it seem like Christianity is hunky dory and wonderful reformation,” Uygur began. “The Holocaust was what, 70 years ago? It seems like Christianity was monstrous just 70 years ago, way worse than Islam has ever been, than any religion has ever been.”

Martin Luther King, Jr., must be turning over in his grave. His “dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed … ‘that all men are created equal’” has not only been trampled on but made a mockery of. If he were alive today, King would be chastised for even daring to quote that sexist passage from the Declaration of Independence.
The segregation that he spent his life working to overcome is back with a vengeance. Nowadays, equality means “inequality” — at least until the “score is settled.” Men, of which King was one, have had their turn at the helm, liberals tell us. Now it’s time for non-men (in every sense of the word) to take their place in the sun.
This policy is reflected in a recent memo about job openings in the DNC that specified that “cisgender straight white males” need not apply. Dr. King would have excluded on three of the four counts.

Ninety-nine years ago, in the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, the armistice was proclaimed that ended the terrible fighting in World War I. A war that had erupted in large part because Europe’s political leaders, a century on from the Napoleonic conflicts, were accustomed to war remaining limited, produced some of the bloodiest battles ever fought. The six-month battle of the Somme in 1916 took the lives of an unimaginable 1.5 million French, German, and British soldiers – without either side achieving sustainable penetration of the line of confrontation, or any operational victory. WWI was the most tactically and politically frustrating of wars, admitting little maneuver, little jockeying for advantage, and no enduring significance to victory.
But it marked the debut of the United States on the stage long occupied by the great powers of Europe, as American soldiers boarded troop ships to head “Over There,” and with their numbers and supplies, along with improving mobile tactics in the battles of 1918, turned the tide in favor of the Western alliance. We remember WWI now – as we should – for its excruciating trench battles and horrific death toll. But it also inaugurated, in cataclysm and blood, the defining trends of the 20th century.

Air traffic controller received homemade pipe bomb from roommate, police say
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – An air traffic controller at Charlotte Douglas International Airport was one of two men arrested Friday after investigators alleged he was in possession of a weapon of mass destruction.
According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, 30-year-old Paul George Dandan was charged with possession of a weapon of mass destruction. He is currently being held in the Mecklenburg County Jail under a $45,000 bond. The FBI said they are assisting Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police with their investigation and that they don’t anticipate federal charges to be filed against Dandan at this time.

It is only eight weeks since an 18-year old Iraqi-born man walked onto the London Underground and left a bomb on the District line. Fortunately for the rush-hour commuters and school children on that train, the detonating device went off without managing to set off the bomb itself. Had the device worked, the many passengers who suffered life-changing burns would instead have been among many other people taken away in body bags. Ahmed Hassan came to the UK illegally in 2015 and was subsequently provided with foster care by the British government. He has now been charged, and is awaiting trial, for causing an explosion and attempted murder.

“An explosion ripped through a pipeline belonging to Bahrain’s state-run oil company and sent flames shooting up into the night sky, with government officials on Saturday blaming the blast on an attack by militants guided by Iran.
No one was injured in the explosion late Friday night near the Shiite village of Buri and no militant group immediately claimed the blast. However, it potentially opens a new front in the low-level insurgency plaguing Bahrain since its 2011 Arab Spring protests.
The explosion damaged cars and nearby buildings, forcing firefighters to evacuate those close to the flames in Buri, just outside of the capital, Manama. Authorities later extinguished the blaze on the pipeline belonging to the state-run Bahrain Petroleum Co.
Bahrain’s interior minister, Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, said in a statement that the blast was “the latest example of a terrorist act performed by terrorists in direct contact with, and under instruction from, Iran.” He did not say what caused the explosion, nor did he name any suspects…”

“The Chinese immigration authorities are reportedly denying Germans visas to visit China because they have Turkish-sounding names; the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce suspects that Turkey’s support for Uyghurs in China is behind the move, Wirtschaftswoche reports.
The Chinese immigration authorities appear to be discriminating against Germans with Turkish-sounding names and those who have spent a long time in Turkey, according to the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK).
The DIHK has indications “that the Chinese consulate is not issuing visas to German businesspeople with Turkish-sounding names,” the organization’s foreign trade chief Volker Treier told the German business magazine Wirtschaftswoche on Friday.
Treier warned that the issue could affect trade relations between China and Germany. In 2016, trade turnover between the two countries was €169.9 billion ($198.2 billion), making China Germany’s biggest trade partner, ahead of France.
Over 5,000 German businesses are present in China, compared with 900 Chinese businesses in Germany. German businesses have around €70 billion ($82 billion) in Chinese investments and employ around one million local employees.
According to Wirtschaftswoche, the Chinese consulate in Germany is rejecting visa applications from businesspeople with Turkish-sounding names and prospective tourists who have spent long periods of time in Turkey.
One reason is Germany’s policy with regard to the waves of migrants who have arrived in Germany from the Middle East since 2015. The Chinese government believes Germany did not exert sufficient control over its borders during the high point of the migrant crisis in 2015, and “apparently fears that there could be terrorists or Turkish activists among visa applicants.”…”

“The aggressors claimed they were infuriated by a defamatory status published from the Facebook account of one Titu Roy, who hails from Thakurbari.
One person was killed when police opened fire to ward off an angry mob that turned violent and launched an arson attack on Hindu houses at Thakurbari village in Rangpur Sadar upazila on Friday.
At least five more people were severely injured as police fired rounds of rubber bullets and tear gas shells at the angry crowd.
Before the police intervened, the aggressors had set fire to at least 30 Hindu houses of the village. They also looted and vandalised a good number of houses in that village, according to local sources.
A rumour shaped and vented the anger of the Muslims in the neighbouring villages against the Hindu community.
The rumour was that one Titu Roy, originally from Thakurbari village but currently living in Narayanganj, put up a Facebook post defaming Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) a few days ago.
The attack was carried out by a section among the 20,000-strong crowd, that was reportedly mustered out from six to seven neighbouring villages, including Paglapeer, Mominpur and Horialkuthi, after the Jumma prayers.
There was a melee of chases and counter chases between the law enforcers and the crowd. At one point, police fired tear gas shells and rubber bullets to control the situation.
Six people with bullet injuries were admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. Amogn them, a youth named Hamidul Islam succumbed to his injuries later.
The angry mob later blocked the Rangpur-Dinajpur highway to protest against the police attack, halting the vehicular moment for about four hours in the afternoon.
Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge (Operation) Moktarul Islam said they had deployed a huge number of police personnel in that area and a tense situation is still prevailing there.
The district administration has formed a three-member probe body, headed by Additional District Magistrate Abu Rafa Mohammad Rafiq, to investigate the incident. The committee has been asked to submit its report in seven days, said Rangpur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Wahiduzzaman.
The DC also mentioned that they had arranged for relief materials for the affected families in the Hindu vilalge.”

Boys, teenagers and men who escaped ISIL-controlled cities in Syria give a detailed account of what life is like for children under the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant group, which is also known as ISIS.
The boys recall their experiences at school, on the streets, at home and in military training camps under ISIL. Testimonies are recorded in secret locations in Turkey, Greece and Germany.
