  2. UK: US flag burns at London’s ‘Million Mask March’

    Crowds of masked protesters descended on the streets of London, on Sunday, for the annual ‘Million Mask March’.

    During the demonstration protesters burnt the US flag at Trafalgar Square, holding banners reading “Loser Trump keep out” and “Don’t let it happen.”

    There was a heavy police presence due to violence in previous years, despite minor scuffles no serious incidents were reported.

    The protest, dubbed the ‘Million Mask March’ as protesters donned Guy Fawkes mask modelled on the protagonist of the radical comic book and film “V for Vendetta”, is an annual event called by online hacker collective Anonymous.

    The Anonymous movement has gathered every November 5, since 2012, to coincide with the annual British tradition of Bonfire Night, when a group of dissident Catholic plotters tried to blow up the British parliament in 1605.

          • I developed my special friendship with Potus-2 starting with the letters he exchanged with Mrs. Abigail. They were apart for long periods, so the letters were the relationship for years at a stretch.

            I just became part of the family. Only later did I learn something of the context.

            • Yucki, if you have not already done so, please consider reading, “Those Who Love” (A Biographical Novel of Abigail and John Adams) by Irving Stone. This excellent author deftly captures that era’s tone and mood by documenting Adams’ legal cases and home life. Theirs was most definitely a love for the ages.

              Also quite good by Stone is, “The Origin” (A Biographical Novel of Charles Darwin). His marriage to Emma Darwin (née Wedgwood) was similar, with respect to prolonged (almost five years) separation. While dissimilar in many other respects, their ability to reconcile religious differences between them was nonetheless emblematic of the commitment that each of them brought to their union.

              All in all, both stories chronicle a sensibility about marriage (and devotion) that has become an object of thoroughly ignorant ridicule in this barren, postmodern age.

As long as we can have leaders like Donald Trump, New and a few others in DC will will survive. While I know intellectually that we have men of the same caliber of Ike, Brad, Patton and the others who lead our military to victory in WWII there are a few who are no longer on active duty I wish were back on active. However this is a time for the younger generations to step up and claim the title of the Greatest Generation for once again saving freedom in the world.     “A Saudi-led military coalition said it will temporarily close all air, land and sea ports to Yemen to stem the flow of arms to Houthi rebels from Iran, said a statement on Monday on state news agency SPA.

    The move follows the interception of a missile fired towards Riyadh on Saturday which the coalition has described as a “dangerous escalation” by the Iran-allied Houthi militia which controls large parts of Yemen.

    The coalition and U.S. President Donald Trump have both blamed Iran for the attack, but the head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards denied the accusations on Sunday, rejecting Trump’s remarks as “slanders”.

    The ballistic missile was intercepted by Saudi Arabia’s air defenses and brought down near Riyadh airport without causing any casualties.

    The coalition has been targeting the Houthis since they seized parts of the country in 2015 including the capital Sanaa, forcing President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi to flee and seek help from neighboring Saudi Arabia.

    “The Coalition Forces Command decided to temporarily close all Yemeni air, sea and land ports,” the statement on SPA said, adding that aid workers and humanitarian supplies would continue to be able to access and exit Yemen.

    The United Nations and international aid organizations have repeatedly criticized the coalition for blocking aid access, especially to the rebel-held north.

    The civil war has killed more than 10,000 people and triggered a severe humanitarian crisis in one of the Arab world’s poorest nations. More than half a million Yemenis have been infected with cholera and some seven million are on the brink of famine, according to the United Nations.

    On Sunday a suicide car bomber blew himself up at a security checkpoint in the southern port city of Aden, killing 15 people and wounding at least 20, residents and a security official said. Aden is the interim headquarters of Yemen’s internationally-recognized government.”

      The death has been confirmed by the Saudi royal court.

      The Duran and Al-Masdar News both report that the prince died when his security contingent got into a firefight with regime gunmen attempting to make an arrest.

      The Duran’s Adam Garrie points out that Prince Abdul Aziz was deeply involved in Saudi Oger Ltd, a company which until it ceased operations in the summer of this year, was owned by the Hariri family. Former Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri was punitively in charge of the company until it ceased operations.

      Prince Abdul Aziz’s strange and sudden death which is said to have occurred during an attempted arrest, sheds light on the theory that the clearly forced resignation of former Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri had more to do with internal Saudi affairs than the Saudi attempt to bring instability to Lebanon.

      The Saudi Royal family has now lost two princes in 24 hours.

      As Al Jazeera notes, in this Saudi version of ‘Game of Thrones’, the 32-year-old Bin Salman shows that he is willing to throw the entire region into jeopardy to wear the royal gown.

      His actions have already all but destroyed the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC); Yemen can no longer be referred to as a functioning state; Egypt is a ticking time bomb; and now Lebanon may erupt.

    Let’s please consider shouting a hoseah that—in concordance with this same Samson Option—emphasizes the fact that most all Muslim Middle East countries (and their camp followers) will find themselves vaporized, despite all doubts regarding who’s willing to do what to who (or not).

    Be that as it may, I’d still wager a tidy sum that, should Iran come calling, even Jordan—especially due to its diminutive size (and proximity to Israel’s supply chain)—would be offered shelter under America’s military umbrella.

    Although most here at Vlad Tepes blog know well enough than to call Jordan a “moderate” Islamic state (however ostensibly “moderate” that country may be), its peace treaty with Israel alone stands as reason enough for the US to provide strategic assistance.

    The reasons are (at least) twofold.

    1.) Jordan represents a much-needed “buffer zone” between Israel and that region’s many genocidal Antisemites (if only for the sake of creating sheer distance). While the Iranian frontier is relatively insubstantial, nonetheless, Jordan’s extensive boundary with Syria represents a much-needed zone of deployment should America be obliged to mass whatever required military strength against Iran (or Syria, for that matter).

    2.) However much of a perpetually, thankless!, and proverbial fool’s sort of errand defending (e.g., Kuwait) or occupying—as in, Afghanistan* or Iraq—Muslim Majority countries always has been; the fact remains that withdrawing from the Great Game’s chessboard and allowing such tyrannous shites as Red China or Russia to play the leading role—will always cost more than the deceptive price of putting our oar in—when it comes to the (otherwise) deceptively satisfying price of jamming a stick in the spokes of hellholes like Moscow or Beijing.

    *: Only a few here may recall how—once the multinational coalition had expended over a trillion dollars in the thankless task of assisting treacherous Afghanistan—Communist China was poised to step in and furnish Africanesque “development aid” to Kabul as part of extracting megatons of copper and even more valuable molybdenum (or other metallurgical and rare earth alloys) as part of bleeding the West via its soon-to-be-vaporized buncha useless Islamic shites.

      Thanks to Obama that military umbrella has been significantly reduced, and thanks to Obama most of our bases in that region are either closed or threatened by local governments. Our two main bases are in Trukey and Qatar, Erdogan would probably give us permission to attack Hezbollah but the planes would have to fly across Russian, Syrian and Iranian territory to reach the area of conflict. The situtation if Qatar is more complex and we really don’t know what that government would do if we were attacking Iran or Iranian surrogates. We need the base in Qatar but they are now moving into the Iranian orbit which has caused problems for Saudi and caused the Saudi’s to move against Qatar.

      Of the three fronts that Iran can use Qatar is the least reliable but given the right mix of ships they could try a seaborne landing but pare more likely to take the land route through Kuwait.

      When thinking about US military protection look at the amount of assets we currently have, the trouble we are having getting funding to rebuild the military and the threat faced in the Far East.

      The sequence of events, taken together, equals Iran completing her land bridge – her military line of communication – across Iraq and into Syria. This is a major shift, one that under the best of circumstances would be a permanently destabilizing, if latent, condition.

      But the best of circumstances are not what we face. The U.S. is out of position to contain this situation. No one else can contain it. It will metastasize; the only questions are how, and how fast.

        For those who are unfamiliar, just about anybody who builds (or designs) anything in the USA has a copy of the McMaster-Carr catalog at their desk or in a nearby bookshelf.

        The nearest equivalent—in terms of a widely published technical (as opposed to commercial) reference tome—would be the “Rubber Bible” (i.e., the The CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics).

        To close: Without dramatic advances in fusion-based (electrical) power generation and synthetic petroleum chemistry, America will remain beholden to Middle Eastern (e.g., Saudi) interests.

        Speaking as a responsible Capitalist, hydraulic fracturing (i.e., “fracking”) is not a viable, sustainable or environmentally responsible method of resource extraction (groundwater pollution being a primary concern). None of which alters the imperative need to obviate all further dependence upon MME (Muslim Middle East) oil.

        Far more complex than fusion and petroleum synthesis is (somehow) successfully negotiating a “middle course” that maintains positive American influence in the MME without requiring the currently crippling military expense needed to reject unhelpful foreign interference.

        Additionally, eliciting a manageable way of excluding Russia and Communist China from exerting further undue influence in this region of crucial energy resources continues to be a vexing problem, at best.

    “A POLICE officer has been hospitalised after being stabbed in the back in Edinburgh.

    The officer was attending a call at Edinburgh College near Granton when he was attacked from behind.

    Police confirmed they had been called to attend the scene after reports of a man threatening to harm himself and other shortly after 9am.

    The officer since has attended Edinburgh Royal Infirmary after sustaining non-life threatening injuries.

    A man has been detained in connection with the incident.

    A police spokesperson said: “Police in Edinburgh were called to an address in West Granton Road around 9.10am on Monday 6 November following a report of concern for man who was allegedly threatening to harm himself and others

    “An officer in attendance sustained a non-life-threatening injury to his back and has been taken by the Scottish Ambulance Service to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

    “A man is detained in connection with this incident, which is currently being treated as isolated.”

    A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson added: “We received a call at 9.31 today to attend an incident at Edinburgh College’s Granton Campus.

    “We dispatched one paramedic response unit and one ambulance to the scene.”

    SUTHERLAND SPRINGS, Texas – A shooting at a church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, Sunday morning left 26 people — ranging in age from 5 to 72 years old — dead and 20 wounded, authorities say.

    Devin Patrick Kelley, of New Braunfels, has been identified as the gunman.

    Kelley walked into the First Baptist Church and began shooting around 11:20 a.m., before fleeing in a vehicle, Wilson County Sheriff Joe Tackitt said.     At the moment, we still know less than we need to, to draw firm conclusions about Devin Patrick Kelley, 26, the resident of New Braunfels, TX who opened fire in the First Baptist Church in tiny Sutherland Springs Sunday morning and killed 26 people.

    We do know, however, that Kelley had more guns in his vehicle when he sped off from the church after his attack. And we know that an armed neighbor of the church property confronted him as he was leaving the scene, engaging in an exchange of fire with him. We also know that a passerby, Johnnie Langendorff, saw the exchange occur, and took off after Kelley with the armed neighbor in his own vehicle.

    Langendorff and the neighbor chased Kelley, continuing to exchange fire with him, until Kelley crashed his vehicle. After the crash, police found him dead inside it, although the cause of death has not been disclosed yet.

    A native of Azamgarh district in Uttar Pradesh, Abu Zaid was allegedly involved in radicalising youths and luring them to join the terror outfit ISIS.

    Zaid, who was living in Riyadh, was running a social media group through which he was in touch with the youths and getting them recruited for the ISIS, UP police officer Anand Kumar told the media on Monday.

    Zaid has been brought to Lucknow from Mumbai on transit remand.

    Meanwhile, renowned author and columnist Tarek Fatah said on Monday that Abu Zaid was plotting to kill him for opposing the concept of an Islamic Caliphate.

    Tarek Fatah advocates gay rights, a separation of religion and state, opposition to sharia law, and advocacy for a ‘liberal, progressive form’ of Islam.

    Some of his activism and statements have been met with criticism from right-wing Muslim groups.

    Underworld don Chhota Shakeel is said to be not happy with Fatah’s views on Sharia. And it’s the biggest reason he wants Tarek Fatah killed.

    According to Anand Kumar, the four militants were in touch with Zaid through mobile. They were also planning terror attacks in different cities across the country.

    Reportedly, UP ATS also said that the four suspected ISIS militants wanted to eliminate six targets, including Tarek Fatah. By doing so they wanted to showcase their presence as a domestic terror module. They used to watch the author’s TV show and was keeping a tab his movements in India.

    Italian prosecutors launched a probe on Monday after the bodies of 26 migrant women, most teenagers – were recovered from the sea during a surge in attempted Mediterranean crossings.

    The bodies were transferred to the Italian port of Salerno aboard a Spanish naval ship along with 400 migrants who were saved during the large scale rescue operation.

    Twenty three of the dead were on a rubber dinghy that sank off Libya two days ago. The other three women died in a separate shipwreck.

    Five migrants are being questioned about the deaths.

    A CARETAKER tackled a man who broke into a school shouting Allahu Akbar and threatening to slaughter children “like lambs.”

    Witnesses said the 46-year-old was carrying a bottle thought at first to contain poison – although it was later found to be empty – when he entered the school in Madrid.

    He sparked panic after managing to get into a classroom where there were three-year-old children.

    A caretaker held him with help from other staff before police reached the scene.

    The ugly incident happened just after 9am last Friday at state school Gonzalo Fernandez de Cordoba in Madrid’s popular La Latina neighbourhood.

    He was arrested for breaking and entering, criminal damage and threats.

    Local reports said the suspect had no links to the school and parents were trying to put the scare behind them after the “tremendous shock.”

    A police spokesman said: “He was shouting to Allah and threatening to harm the children.”

    A source added: “He was unarmed and is believed to have been suffering from mental health problems.

    “No-one was injured but it was obviously a very frightening episode for the school.”

    News of the incident emerged as police in the eastern city of Valencia arrested a 47-year-old man accused of belonging to terror group ISIS.

    Interior Ministry officials described him as a “powerful instigator capable of creating the ideal breeding ground for the idea of committing terrorist attacks to crystallise in the minds of new recruits.”

    The illegal immigrant, who has not been named, was also said to be the main person responsible for recruiting and sending a 26-year-old Moroccan suicide bomber to Iraq in November 2014 who killed 33 Iraqi soldiers and injured dozens more in an attack a month and a half after he reached the country.

    More than 250 suspected jihadists have been arrested in Spain since the start of 2015 – 206 of them since it raised its anti-terror alert level to four on a scale of five on June 26 2015.

    French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo said Monday it was pressing charges after receiving fresh death threats over a cartoon of the Islamic scholar Tariq Ramadan who faces rape allegations.

    The provocative magazine, which suffered a deadly jihadist attack in 2015 after publishing cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed, depicted Ramadan with a huge erection in its edition last Wednesday, saying: “I am the sixth pillar of Islam.”

    The Swiss academic, an Oxford professor and conservative Islamic intellectual in France, has been accused of rape by two women after the Harvey Weinstein scandal unleashed a wave of sexual abuse accusations worldwide.

    Ramadan, 55, has furiously denied the accusations as a “campaign of lies launched by my adversaries”.

    “Rape,” reads the caption on Charlie Hebdo’s cover. “The defence of Tariq Ramadan.”

    Laurent “Riss” Sourisseau, the magazine’s editor, said the threats and hate mail had “never really stopped” after the January 2015 jihadist attack in which 12 people were gunned down at its offices.

    “Sometimes there are peaks when we receive explicit death threats on social media — this has been the case once again,” he told Europe 1 radio.

    “It’s always difficult to know if these are serious threats or not, but as a principle, we take them seriously and press charges.”

    The shooting at Charlie Hebdo was claimed by Al-Qaeda, with the jihadists notably seeking to punish the staunchly atheist magazine for printing cartoons of the prophet Mohammed, forbidden in Islam.

    The attack was the first in a wave of jihadist attacks in France over the past two years that have left more than 240 people dead.

    Charlie Hebdo has continued to court controversy since the attack, notably with cartoons after the Barcelona attack and others that made light of an Italian earthquake that killed nearly 300 people.

    The five pillars of Islam are the five basic practices obligatory for believers: faith, prayer, charity, fasting, and the pilgrimage to Mecca.

    Tens of thousands of migrants were granted asylum in 2016 without being interviewed by authorities.

    More than two-thirds of the 1.6 million refugees in Germany are male and more than half arrived without any form of identification, according to official estimates.

    About 230,000 rejected asylum seekers have been marked for deportation, but the lack of documents makes it difficult for the authorities to remove them from the country.

    Due to the European Union’s (EU) Shengen zone, migrants who reach German can move freely across the borderless continent. Thousands have disappeared without a trace.

    Peter Altmaier, Germany’s refugee co-ordinator and acting finance minister, said the lack of information about people entering and leaving the EU was part of the problem.

    Mr Altmaier told Bild: “No one knows exactly how many asylum seekers have left Germany without being registered.””

    A neighbor had found his own rifle and opened fire on the killer. Devin Kelley, the 26-year-old man identified as the gunman, dropped his weapon and fled. And at least one local resident, if not more, followed in pursuit. Kelley was later found dead with his massacre cut short by a local hero

    After this latest massacre, the discussion will inevitably turn to gun control. But it isn’t guns that need controlling. People either control their worst selves. Or they don’t. The First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs shootings showed us that in the brutal collision between two men.

    Some men shoot the innocent. Others risk their lives to stop them.

    Obama had directed “weaponry” to everyone from Mexican cartels to Muslim Brotherhood terrorists. But in his mind, violence is inextricably linked to weaponry. And yet both Kelley and the man who stopped him had wielded weapons. It wasn’t the outward appearance of the weapons that distinguished them. It didn’t matter whether we called one of those weapons an ‘assault rifle’.

    What truly mattered were the characters of the two men wielding the weapons.

    “Self-proclaimed hate crime recording group Tell MAMA has demanded that Google review its algorithms to ensure that searches on topics such as grooming gangs and terrorism do not yield “anti-Muslim” results.

    Tell MAMA alleged that “far right” groups have manipulated the search giant’s results to stoke tensions against Muslim communities living in Britain, in the “anti-Islamophobia” organisation’s annual report.

    “We urge Google to review how far-right websites are cheating its search algorithm through Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) in order to improve their rankings on stories related to crime, sexual exploitation, and terrorism,” it stated.

    “A higher ranking not only increases their legitimacy but may draw vulnerable individuals into extreme echo chambers.”

    The document, which looked at 1,223 “anti-Muslim acts” reported to the organisation last year, claimed that any association between grooming gangs and Muslim communities is “not backed by evidence”.

    Pointing to alleged “bias in data collection”, the report’s authors described the “overrepresentation of Asian men” in child sexual exploitation grooming gang cases as only “apparent”, and asserted that sample sizes in studies have been “too small to draw national conclusions”.

    In the event of a “terrorist attack associated with extremists from a Muslim background”, the report recommends that authorities crack down on “hate”.

    “Police forces should consider how some will use such events as pretexts for ideologically-driven violence and hate speech online which targets Muslims or their institutions,” it states.

    The organisation said its work in partnership with social media companies would help them “better understand anti-Muslim prejudice and to promote online counter-narratives that invest beyond advertising credits”.

    “High-profile events such as the EU referendum and popular debates around immigration and terrorism play into mainstream xenophobic, racist and anti-Muslim sentiment, therefore, more efforts are needed to challenge such statements and counter mythologized narratives about Muslims and Islam,” it said.

    Such “counter-narratives” are required, according to the report, to combat Breitbart London and unnamed “other online platforms” described as a source for “conspiratorial narratives”, with links to “far-right extremism in Europe”.

    “Fake news” is mentioned as a possible driver of “anti-Muslim hate”, and is defined in the report as “synonymous with partisan political rhetoric designed to undermine trust in critical mainstream news coverage”.

    However, in this section hyper-partisan left-wing media is hailed as “grounded in an altruistic desire to educate the public”, with the report’s authors alleging that it “sticks to traditional journalistic moral commitments that adhere to our democratic values”.

    Tell MAMA lost government funding in 2013 after it was found to have exaggerated the number of anti-Muslim attacks following the Islamist murder of Lee Rigby in Woolwich, but since then the government has pushed “hate crime” to the top of the agenda

    A number of official campaigns and initiatives against “hate crime” to have taken place in recent weeks have been run in partnership with the organisation with Transport for London and police having visited mosques across the city, encouraging Muslims to report “perceived” so-called “hate crimes”.”

    “A report claims the 19-year-old Syrian Islamist who was arrested for plotting a terror attack in Germany last week was given refugee status without a formal interview or background check.

    According to media sources, the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) granted terror suspect Yamen A. full asylum status for a three-year period without formally interviewing him. The teen came to Germany in 2015 but was only given a brief written questionnaire by the agency, Westfaelische Rundschau reports…”

    “Police in Greece say a 30-year-old man was arrested for allegedly for trying to smuggle 50 people from the Mideast into the country in his van.

    Police said the van was spotted on a highway near the Greece-Turkey border on Saturday, but sped off when officers signaled for the driver to stop. A chase ensued before the van was brought to a halt.

    Inside the vehicle, officers found men, women and children — 30 from Syria, 19 from Iraq and one from Afghanistan.

    Police said Sunday that the refugees paid 1,500 euros ($1,742) each to be transported into Greece.

    The driver has been charged with endangering the lives of his passengers, who had to stand in the tightly packed van.

    Police said another man was caught Saturday transporting 10 Afghans.”
