“A SPIKE in radiation has been detected across central Europe which has left scientists baffled as to the source.
Germany’s Office for Radiation Protection reported increased radioactivity in parts of Central and Western Europe last week.
The increased levels were detected across six locations in Germany and several others across Europe including Austria, France, Germany, Italy and Switzerland.
The Office for Radiation Protection said it could not be an accident at a nuclear power plant.
They added: “New analyses on the source of the radioactive substance ruthenium-106 suggest a release in eastern Europe, at a distance of more than 620 miles from Germany.
“New analyses of the source of the radioactive material are likely to indicate a release in the southern Ural.
“But other regions in Southern Russia cannot be excluded.”
The particles are ruthenium-106 which is an isotope used in cancer treatment for eye tumours and also radioisotope thermoelectric generators which power satellites.
The elevated levels do not present a threat to human health and officials say there is no need to panic.
A spike in radiation was also reported in February this year, many believe it could have been Russia conducting secret nuclear testing.
An increase in the radioactive Iodine-131 was first detected over the Russia-Norway border in January, but that spike has since made its way across Europe.
The increase was then noticed in Finland, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, France and Spain but authorities decided to keep the information private as they believed it “had no news value”, according to the Norwegian Radiation Protection Authority (NRPA).
France’s nuclear safety authority the IRSN added that the spike of Iodine-131 raised “no health concerns” and the levels have since gone back to normal.
Theories have begun to circulate that Russia is testing nuclear weapons in the Arctic circle as Iodine-131 is a radioisotope found in the atomic bombs tested by the US and Russia in the early days of the Cold War.
Swedish website Cornucopia wrote that Iodine-131 “is an isotope that occurs upon detonation of uranium-235 or plutonium-based nuclear weapons”.
It added: “Russia is upgrading its nuclear weapons to the new state of the art robots and it is not unreasonable that, in so doing, to develop new warheads and not just carriers.””

“A 16-YEAR-OLD boy has been stabbed on Kings Road, a busy west London high street.
The incident occurred just before 7.30pm on the Kings Road in Chelsea, west London, and the attacker remains at large.
A Met Police spokesperson told the Evening Standard a 16-year-old boy was found with stab wounds.
No arrests have been made so far.
At around 11.20pm another Met Police spokesman told the Express.co.uk: “He is still being treated in hospital.”
Kensington and Chelsea police later tweeted: “16-year-old youth stabbed in Kings Road, Chelsea is now in a stable condition.
“Cordons will be lifted shortly. The Criminal Investigation Department continue to deal with the situation.”
Images emerging on social media show a large police presence and officers have cordoned off the area where the incident took place.

German Intelligence: Iran Tried to Get Nuclear, Missile Tech 32 Times in 2016 (sputniknews, Oct 11, 2017)

“German intelligence agencies have claimed that Iran made dozens of attempts to illicitly obtain missiles and nuclear technology in violation of the 2015 Iran Nuclear Deal.
Three separate offices of the German Federal Intelligence Service (BND) have made the accusation. The BFV’s North Rhine-Westphalia branch accused Tehran of making “32 procurement attempts… that definitely or with high likelihood were undertaken for the benefit of [nuclear] proliferation programs” over the year 2016. The report did not say if any of these procurement attempts were actually successful.
The report added that Iran used shell companies in China, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates to circumvent restrictions placed on their weapons development by the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a landmark agreement meant to freeze the Iranian nuclear weapons program in exchange for sanctions relief.
The BND report goes on to say that Tehran has spread “atomic, biological or chemical weapons of mass destruction,” and that they invited “guest academics” from North Korea, Pakistan and Sudan to participate in weapons and nuclear programs. “An example for this type of activity occurred in the sector of electronic technology in connection with the implementation of the enrichment of uranium,” the report from the Hessen branch said.
In 2015, the BND reported that Iran made 141 procurement attempts — but the JCPOA did not enter into force until January 2016.
The JCPOA does allow Iran to produce a modest amount of low-enriched uranium that could be used for a nuclear energy program, but not a nuclear weapons program. They are also required to disclose information about their nuclear program to inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Despite the report seemingly claiming that Iran was in violation of the JCPOA, German officials told Fox News (which broke the report) said that no such violation occurred. “We have no indication of Iran violating its JCPOA commitments,” said an anonymous official. “Quite on the contrary, the recent 2016 Report of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution states that there is no evidence of Iran violating the JCPOA.”
“Having said that, we remain worried by Iran’s missile program. The aforementioned report, as well as reports from regional intelligence authorities, shows that Germany is highly vigilant in this regard and will continue to [be vigilant]. However, this issue is outside the scope of the JCPOA and needs to be dealt with separately,” the official went on to say.
Germany was a signatory of the JCPOA, and at the time of its signing German Chancellor Angela Merkel called it “an important success” of international diplomacy. Since the election of US President Donald Trump, who has threatened multiple times to declare Iran in violation of the JCPOA, the leaders of the other signatory nations have pushed hard for the US to remain in the deal — except for Merkel. She has left defending the JCPOA to German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel, who also happens to be one of her primary political opponents.
Trump is scheduled to speak on Thursday to announce whether he will recertify Iran as compliant with the JCPOA, as he must do every 90 days, or not. Both Trump and administration officials have hinted that he will declare Iran noncompliant, in which case the decision to remain in or withdraw from the JCPOA will be kicked to Congress.
The IAEA declared Iran compliant with the deal on Monday.”

“The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed one of two cases over President Donald Trump’s ban on visitors from mostly Muslim countries, suggesting it will step away from the controversy for now.
The court got rid of a case that originated in Maryland and involves a ban that has now expired and been replaced by a new version.
But the justices took no action on a separate case from Hawaii. That dispute concerns both the travel ban and a separate ban on refugees, which does not expire until October 24.
Dismissing the cases would allow the court to avoid ruling on difficult legal issues, at least for a while.
The justices had combined the two cases and set them for argument that was to have taken place Tuesday. But after the travel ban expired last month and a new policy was rolled out, the court cancelled the argument and began to weigh whether it should decide the legality of the policy after all.

A judge ordered the web hosting company DreamHost to redact identifying information about visitors to a website used to coordinate a protest during President Trump’s inauguration, imposing further limits on an extensive warrant obtained by the Justice Department that initially aimed to collect visitors’ IP addresses.
Chief Judge Robert E. Morin of the Superior Court of D.C. had previously ordered DreamHost to turn over information about the operators of the website, disruptj20.org. The Justice Department alleged that the site was used to privately communicate plans for a riot, and that it needed the IP addresses of the millions of visitors to the site in order to discover who had incited the violence. After resistance from DreamHost, the Justice Department narrowed the scope of its request.
In an order issued today, Morin said that the government would need to submit a report explaining the minimization procedures it would use when searching DreamHost’s data—in short the government would need to explain why it needs everything it needs. Only then would Morin allow the DoJ to review redacted data, and the government would again have to provide the court with its justification for removing any redactions.

Subpoenas Target Research Firm Tied to Trump Dossier
Fusion GPS worked with former British spy to compile a 35-page document on Trump’s alleged ties to Moscow
WASHINGTON—A congressional committee has issued subpoenas targeting a research firm that compiled a dossier of unverified and unflattering information about President Donald Trump.
The subpoenas were recently issued by the House Intelligence Committee to employees at Fusion GPS, which performs research for political and corporate clients.
During the 2016 presidential campaign, Fusion GPS worked with a former British spy named Christopher Steele to compile a 35-page dossier on Mr. Trump’s alleged ties to Moscow. The information contained in the dossier remains unverified and Mr. Trump has denied having any improper ties to the Russian government or Russian business interests.
The existence of the subpoenas was confirmed by an attorney for Fusion GPS and a Democratic aide familiar with the congressional investigation. The subpoenas were first reported by CNN.

North Korean special forces use paragliders in simulated attack on South Korean-US military HQ
North Korean special forces have carried out an exercise in which they used paragliders to simulate infiltrating behind South Korean lines and launch an attack on the headquarters of the joint South Korean-US military command.
Officials of Seoul’s Defence Ministry told Yonhap news that the exercises were conducted over a number of days in mid-September and were the first time that the tactic had been tested by the North.
Special forces troops used paragliders to land on a training ground where a mock-up of the South Korea-US Combined Forces Command in Seoul had been constructed.
The new infiltration technique has caused concern in Seoul, where a defence source said that existing radar systems would be unlikely to detect such small targets crossing the border. Paragliders can also travel swiftly and in silence and would allow the North’s special forces to carry out an attack with little warning, particularly at night.

While appearing on Sunday’s edition of “CNN Newsroom With Fredricka Whitfield,” Symone Sanders said that white people aren’t allowed to criticize NFL players who protest the flag by kneeling during the national anthem, the Daily Caller said.
“White people do not get to tell black folks or anybody else what is acceptable form of protest,” she told conservative pundit Ben Ferguson.

Nearly a month after she tweeted that Donald Trump is a white supremacist, ESPN SportsCenter co-host Jemele Hill was suspended for two weeks. The network claimed the suspension was not for Hill’s earlier comment but for a second violation of the company’s social media guidelines.
But even that claim failed to acknowledge the real reason for Hill’s “timeout,” which was based on color. No, not the color of her skin but the color of what she carried in her wallet.

WINDSOR -ONTARIO – Unprovoked attack on 75-year-old woman ‘the most severe beating I’ve seen,’ says Windsor surgeon
“The worst skull fractures I’ve seen in my 12 years here in Windsor,” said neurosurgeon Dr. Balraj Jhawar. “This is among the most brutal things I’ve seen in my career.”
The shocking weekend assault of a 75-year-old woman left her with head injuries so terrible that the surgeon who treated her says they’re among the worst he’s seen in his medical career in Windsor.
“In my 12 years in Windsor, this is the most severe beating I’ve seen,” said Dr. Balraj Jhawar, a neurosurgeon at the Ouellette Campus of Windsor Regional Hospital.
Sara Anne Widholm, a grandmother and Riverside resident, remained in critical condition Tuesday afternoon.
She has not awakened since she was found unconscious and battered on the Ganatchio Trail east of Riverdale Avenue and Little River on Sunday morning.
Speaking to the Star with the permission of Widholm’s family, Jhawar detailed a long list of damage.
She was brought to the hospital suffering from multiple brain hemorrhages, a blood clot on the surface of her brain that was immediately threatening her life, extensive skull fractures, fractured vertebrae in her neck, a lacerated scalp, and a badly bruised face.
“The worst skull fractures I’ve seen in my 12 years here in Windsor,” Jhawar repeated.
“I’ve submitted pictures to Windsor police. This is among the most brutal things I’ve seen in my career. … Her eyes were so bruised, they were swollen shut.”
Widholm’s emergency treatment required two major surgical procedures — one taking five hours, the other three hours.
The outcome remains uncertain. “She is improving — but she is not out of the woods by any means,” Jhawar said Tuesday at noon.
“I believe she will survive. I think we’re winning here. I think she has made some progress in the last 24 hours. I’m not anticipating any more surgery. But anything can happen.”
Jhawar said he is speaking publicly about the case because he believes the community needs to know.
He was told by Widholm’s family that her early-morning strolls on Ganatchio Trail are a Sunday ritual. She goes on them to pick up litter and keep the walking areas clean for others.
“This is a super good person. This is the calibre of woman we’re talking about here,” Jhawar said. “She goes around cleaning up other people’s garbage, out of the goodness of her heart.”
Windsor police are acknowledging the extreme nature of this unprovoked assault in a popular park area.
“This was, without a doubt, a vicious, vicious attack,” Windsor police spokesman Sgt. Steve Betteridge said Tuesday.
“It’s very alarming to see an attack of this nature, at that time of day, at that location.”
Windsor resident Habibullah Ahmad, 21, who goes by the first name Daniel, has been charged with one count of aggravated assault. He remained in custody at press time.
Aggravated assault is an indictable offence under the Criminal Code of Canada. It carries a maximum penalty of 14 years imprisonment.
It isn’t yet clear what led to the one-sided altercation. Police said Tuesday that the incident “appears to be random in nature.”
Betteridge credited witnesses for contacting police as soon as they noticed something was wrong – allowing for an immediate emergency response and quick launching of an investigation.
“That, quite possibly, saved this 75-year-old victim’s life,” Betteridge said.
Jhawar said it’s his understanding that Windsor police arrested the 21-year-old suspect due in part to information provided by a 17-year-old companion of the accused.
“We don’t know exactly what occurred,” Jhawar said.
As for the random nature of the crime, Jhawar said he finds that “absolutely unacceptable” — and so should everyone else in the community.
“For all of us who live here in Windsor, we can’t tolerate this. This is not just another assault,” Jhawar said.
“This is concerning to me. This is maybe representing a new, dark side of
ISLAMIWindsor that we can’t let propagate.”Betteridge emphasized that the incident is a statistical anomaly, and the Ganatchio Trail system is safe for public use.
“This is an extremely rare occurrence,” he said.
The investigation into the attack remains open and police continue to appeal to the public for information.

Indicted Dem IT aide Imran Awan’s own wife accuses him of fraud

The indicted husband-and-wife team of former IT aides to Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz sat directly across from each other at the defendants’ table in federal court Friday in Washington, D.C., but refused to look at each other.
Even as they are co-defendants in a U.S. case, Imran Awan’s own wife, Hina Alvi, has become the latest person to accuse him of fraud, filing papers against him in Pakistani court on Sept. 13, records obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation show. Alvi said Awan “threatened the complainant of dire consequences, he also threatened to harm the lives of family of the complainant if she intervenes.”
The couple were in U.S. court to face bank fraud charges related to sending money to Pakistan around the time they learned they were under investigation for abuses related to their work managing IT for members of Congress. Awan was arrested at Dulles Airport in July attempting to board a flight to Pakistan.
Wasserman Schultz, former chair of the Democratic National Committee, and other House Democrats have vigorously defended Awan, claiming the Capitol Police might be drumming up charges out of Islamaphobia.

CANADIAN FOREIGN MINISTER FREELAND HID LIGHT UNDER BUSHEL UNTIL TORONTO GLOBE & MAIL EXPOSÉ
A Toronto newspaper has revealed that Canada’s leading Russia hater, Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland, had a deal with George Soros to write his biography after she had lost her journalist jobs at the Financial Times and Reuters, and before she started her run for election to the Canadian parliament.
On August 16 the Toronto Globe and Mail reported Soros is a “close friend” of Freeland, and that with her he has “very great hopes for Canada”. Before she decided to run for parliament, the newspaper says Freeland had a “deal” for “a sort of authorized biography of George Soros”.
[…]Freeland’s first filing to the Canadian parliament’s ethics watchdog was registered on May 1, 2014. There is no mention of Soros, but there is “income received under a book collaboration agreement with an individual”. Freeland refused last week to identify that individual by name.
[…]In her parliamentary filing on income and assets Freeland also mentions “speaking fees and honoraria” she received for “10th Annual Yalta Meeting, Yalta, Ukraine”. That’s a roundabout way of reporting that Ukrainian oligarch Victor Pinchuk’s eponymous foundation paid Freeland for her participation in the annual conference of his Yalta European Strategy (YES), an expensive lobbying effort to drive Ukrainian membership of the European Union and combat the Russian alternatives. At the conference for which Pinchuk paid Freeland, others on the tab included Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton and Tony Blair.
[…]Freeland’s concealment of the personal interests she and backers like Soros and Pinchuk share in their pursuit of policy towards Ukraine and Russia has not been investigated by the Canadian press or the parliament’s conflict of interest commissioner. The Financial Times management in London proved to be more inquisitive of Freeland’s closeness to the subjects of her reporting. According to the Globe and Mail, she “clashed with editor-in-chief Lionel Barber”, and was ousted from her post in Europe, removed to New York for what was reported as “not a promotion”. Last week Freeland was asked to clarify whether the Financial Times investigation related to possible conflict of interest, and what the outcome was. She won’t say.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi last month demanded the suspension of the controversial vote.
Kurdish leaders later insisted the referendum was legitimate.
On Wednesday, the Rusafa court said “legal measures” would be taken through the office of the public prosecutor against those Kurdistan officials it said were involved in supervising the vote.
A spokesman for the court, Abdulstar Bayraqdar, said the warrants followed a lawsuit filed by the country’s National Security Council which argued that the referendum was “contrary to the decision of the high federal court”…”
California Sheriffs Outraged Over New Sanctuary State Law
The immigrant-loving left in California has made a great deal of noise about all of the law enforcement support Gov. Jerry Brown supposedly has behind his decision to sign “Sanctuary State” legislation, which he did last week. Touting police unions who helped negotiate the final wording of the bill, Democrats are trying their best to pretend that only Republican politicians and racist Trump supporters oppose the governor’s position – one which says that local and state police should give federal immigration authorities the cold shoulder.
The truth is that many California sheriffs are outraged by the new law, and they want Republicans in Washington to put a stop to the state’s recklessness. Warning that Brown’s law will make it all the more likely that another Kate Steinle will be killed by an illegal immigrant, they are asking the GOP Congress to step in a pass a law forbidding California’s sanctuary status.
Brown’s law, which will go into effect in January, is the most wide-reaching legislation of its kind. Going further and wider than the rules put in place by cities like San Francisco and Chicago, the law will prevent police and city officials from granting detainer requests sent by federal immigration authorities. In other words, if they arrest an illegal immigrant and ICE asks them to keep them in jail pursuant to deportation, it’s a no-go. Not only will police officials be DISCOURAGED from cooperating, they literally won’t be allowed to.
The law goes even further than that, making it a crime for federal immigration authorities to make arrests on school grounds, in courthouses, at hospitals, or in libraries.
In the immediate aftermath of the signing, several prominent California lawmen spoke out against Brown’s decision. Jonathan Thompson, the CEO of the National Sheriffs’ Association, said that law enforcement leaders across the country were “saddened” by the legislation.
“It is unfortunate that California’s law enforcement has become pawns in this political game, but they will continue to do their jobs diligently to protect their communities,” he said in a statement Thursday. “We also implore leaders in Washington to take action and pass sensible legislation that would prevent careless legislation from hamstringing law enforcement and would give them the tools to combat dangerous policies like this.”
The Justice Department also blasted the law, saying it would only have the effect of making the country less safe for law-abiding citizens.
“The State of California has now codified a commitment to returning criminal aliens back onto our streets, which undermines public safety, national security, and law enforcement,” said DOJ spokesman Devin O’Malley. “Given the multiple high-profile incidents that have occurred in California in recent years, it is especially disappointing that state leaders have made it law to limit cooperation between local jurisdictions and immigration authorities attempting to keep Californians safe.”
