The two unnamed men, aged 20 and 22, were handed suspended sentences of three months and six months respectively after they were found guilty of “inciting hatred on religious grounds”, an offence which carries a maximum penalty of five years.

The one consistent thing I notice over the last few years, is that the most pernicious, the most dangerous and destructive tool for Western civilization by an order of magnitude, is selective enforcement. If the law was still in effect, there would be no problems with Islam or leftism. But a person who criticizes, mocks or insults Islam in many Western nations now is punished beyond all reason, from 15 months in JAIL in Canada for scribbling something which was a good idea on a public bench, while Muslims preach the killing of every single Jew in Canada, and the beating of women etc. etc. ad nauseam, and are not even asked politely to cease.
The law is only used when it advances the interests of leftists, or muslims. Otherwise it is ignored with the carefully applied excuses of “multiculturalism” or “religious freedoms”.

In the Anglophone world the rule of law began when the Normal conquers started requiring all freemen to own bows and to practice with them weekly. These bows which were capable of taking armored knights off their horses were necessary to prevent other Europeans invading and conquering the British Isles. The freedom this gave to the peasants and the minor Nobles build the attitude that everyone was equal under the law and when King John started abusing his authority the Nobles called in their followers and forced him to sign the Magna Carta. It was from this document that the American colonists got the idea that even though they weren’t in England they were due the rights of Englishmen. This lead to the rest of the anglophone world acquiring those rights and to the spread of the idea of the rule of law and equality of all people in the British Empire. No the anglophone world doesn’t always live up to this ideal but we tried to do this until the left gained so much power that they felt save in returning to the feudal idea of special laws for special people. After working so hard to create a classless society in the meritocracy that use to be the US the left has managed to create a multiclass society with each class having varying rights and subject to different laws. Britain never really got rid of its class system but most of the colonies did to a much greater extent, all of the hard work of those who believe in freedom, the rule of law and classical civilization is being undone by the followers of a discredited ideology. If freedom is to survive into the 22nd Century we the free people in what use to be Western Civilization must fight to retain our freedom (or regain it in the case of some of our nations) and to restore the rule of law. Thanks to the left and the massive damage they have inflicted to Western Civilization we are going to have to rebuild civilization after we have ensured that we will remain free.
Freedom is what we must retain at all costs, once we have ensured that we will remain free we can reestablish the rule of law and rebuild civilization. If all western nations lose their freedom it will be a struggle of centuries before we can regain our freedom and return to the rule of law and build a new civilization.
