“A psychologist in the UAE has developed a programme to help women accept being a second wife, comparing a woman who is angry when a man marries another to a first-born feeling left out when a new sibling is born.
Zahraa al-Musawi conducted a study to figure out why women resist their husbands marrying second, third or fourth wives, initially putting it down to jealousy. In the study, she acknowledges that a man marrying another woman would lead to anxiety, depression and anger.
Her study emphasised the analogy of a married woman being like a child; she craves attention from her husband the way a child craves attention from their parents. If a new wife is in the picture, like a child who had a new sibling, she will suffer from withdrawal symptoms, which will leave her depressed, according to al-Musawi’s research.
Her solution? No, not guiding a woman to decide what she wants, and to walk away if she feels she is being wronged.
It’s to teach women to “accept” the situation, and understand that her husband has every right to marry another woman.
Al-Musawi created a five-stage programme, all of which is supposed to counsel a woman and train her into “loving herself enough to submit to the situation”:
1. Understanding why ‘men need to marry more than one’ woman
The first session is focused on “debunking” questions that naturally form in a woman’s mind after she is faced with the situation of polygamy being imposed upon her. Al-Musawi seeks to address questions such as “is there something wrong with me?” and “does he not love/want me now that he has another wife?”
She claims that this session is supposed to rid the woman of her own bias against polygamy to understand and respect “the man’s perspective”.
2. Self-confidence
The second session focuses on the woman’s self-confidence. She insists that a confident woman will be minimally fazed by her husband marrying another woman.
In this session, she aims to get rid of what she refers to as the “irrationality” that leads women to become upset when her husband marries another woman.
3. Exorcising self-blame
The third session teaches women to rid themselves of self-blame. She sets out to explain to women that her husband has not married another woman because there is anything wrong with her – rather it is simply “the course of life”.
She claims that a woman who truly accepts herself will accept the situations into which her husband has put her, and that “a real woman” will not allow “external influences” to “break her home” by leaving her husband.
With this, al-Musawi brings a strong implication that a woman who resists polygamy is a woman who is insecure.
4. Seeking support
The fourth session is about seeking a form of assistance or support when the depression and anxiety gets too much, while the patient is in the process of accepting her fate.
Al-Musawi here tells women to find someone in whom to confide, and to lean on others for emotional support in the process of “adapting to this life change”.
5. Ignoring ‘not enough of a woman’ criticisms
At times, when a man takes another wife, the first wife is usually blamed. Rumours may come out claiming that she is not a competent enough wife, or is not “woman enough” for her husband.
The fifth session is supposed to teach women to ignore such remarks and to continue moving on with her life.
For many reasons, throughout history, polygamy has historically been an attribute of Arab culture.
In August, a hashtag emerged out of Saudi Arabia calling on men to marry multiple women in order to “cure spinsterhood” in young women.
The hashtag, translating to “multiple wives cures spinsterhood” calls for men to marry more than one woman in order to stop the so-called epidemic in the rise of young women not getting married.
There are many reasons behind women not wanting to get married, from not finding a suitable partner, to not wanting a partner, to prioritising other aspects of life such as education and career.
However, according to the hashtag, being a woman and single is a condition from which women must be saved, and men must rise to the responsibility of doing so.”
This whole twisted logic regarding polygamy, reminds me of the video of the very compassionate appearing Imam saying full of feeling that killing gays is really the best thing you can do for them.

The only difference being that the siblings are not being deprived of such minor marital features as exclusive sexual congress or devoted spousal intimacy. Other than that, the analogy works perfectly.

It’s pretty much obligatory to note how men have always been at a historical disadvantage in terms of being cuckolded by a mate. Too often, they were stuck raising someone else’s child. That said, Islamic purdah (“confinement”) is not a solution and polygamy is merely adding insult to injury.
One of Christianity’s most redeeming qualities is that, unlike almost all other major religions, it championed monogamous matrimony based on mutual romantic love instead of the usual arranged marriages that characterize so many other brutal and misogynistic cultures.

The venerable Mr. Skelton (RIP) conflates “liberty” and “freedom”.

Man arrested in Fort McMurray faces warrant for extradition to U.S. for terrorism-related prosecution
A man arrested in Fort McMurray earlier this month is facing a warrant for extradition to the United States to face prosecution for terrorism-related offences.
Abdullahi Ahmed Abdullahi was arrested Sept. 14 by RCMP. He was wanted on the extradition warrant, as well as for his alleged role in an armed robbery at an Edmonton jewelry store in 2014.
“The United States has sought the extradition of Abdullahi Ahmed Abdullahi for prosecution for terrorism-related offences,” federal Justice Department spokesman Derrick Pieters said in an email Tuesday.
The U.S. Department of Justice did not respond to questions about the allegations Abdullahi faces in that country.
A search of Alberta court records indicates Abdullahi, 32, has no previous charges or convictions in the province, aside from the robbery charge.
Abdullahi appeared by video conference on the extradition matter in Edmonton’s Court of Queen’s Bench on Sept. 15, and was expected to appear again Friday morning. He was also expected to appear in provincial court Friday for a bail hearing on the robbery charge.
Abdullahi is being represented by Edmonton criminal defence lawyer Akram Attia, who declined to comment on the case.
The case file has been sealed by the court.
A family residing at an Edmonton address connected to Abdullahi in provincial court documents declined to comment Thursday.
The warrant for the armed robbery charge was issued Sept. 12, according to provincial court records. When Abdullahi was arrested two days later, two other co-accused in the robbery case were also taken into custody.
The two men — Said Mohamed Abdulkadir, 24, and Abdikadir Abdullahi, 30 — have not been linked to Abdullahi Ahmed Abdullahi’s extradition case.
All three men face one count of robbery with a firearm in connection to a jewelry store heist Jan. 9, 2014.
Abdikadir Abdullahi is also charged with one count of weapons possession for a silver handgun and one count of assault with a weapon. He was ordered released on bail following a hearing Monday and is next scheduled to appear in provincial court on the robbery matter Oct. 10.
Said Mohamed Abdulkadir was expected to be in provincial court Friday for an appearance in the robbery case.

CANADA – Oshawa man jailed five months for anti-Muslim graffiti at bus stops
OSHAWA — A judge has sentenced a man who scrawled anti-Muslim graffiti at bus stops in Durham Region to five months in jail.
Joseph Porco shows little insight into the harmful nature of his conduct, Ontario Court Justice Ferhan Javed said in handing down the sentence Thursday, Sept. 21.
“Mr. Porco’s message left black marks on a public bench but even after the words are scrubbed away with a guilty plea, it leaves stains that may be more permanent,” the judge said. “Mr. Porco’s message was both hateful and hurtful to the community and needs to be deterred.”
Porco, 56, of Oshawa, pleaded guilty to a single count of mischief. He was arrested after Durham police began investigating more than a dozen incidents of someone scrawling “No More Muslims” in February and March of this year on Durham Region Transit bus shelters in Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, and Oshawa.
Porco was caught “red-handed” by police conducting surveillance on a bus shelter, court heard. He was charged with multiple counts of mischief, but no hate crimes.
After his arrest, Porco told police he felt people were “taking advantage of living in this country,” court heard.
Porco’s defence lawyer, Paul Affleck, had lobbied for a term of house arrest. Justice Javed said Thursday the facts of the case warrant real jail time.
The judge cited Porco’s lengthy criminal record, which includes convictions for criminal harassment and mischief, as well as a history of ignoring court-imposed orders as rationale for rejecting a conditional sentence.
Also a factor is Porco’s failure to recognize the true nature of his behaviour, the judge said; Porco has apologized, but seems to think his offence is limited to vandalism.
“What is plainly missing from the apology is any insight about his actions in choosing hateful words and any semblance of what effect his words would have on the community,” Justice Javed said. “It does not matter that he wasn’t charged with a specific hate crime, because this was a hate crime disguised as mischief.”
Porco has been diagnosed with a delusional disorder with persecutory features, a finding the convicted man rejects, the judge noted. His mental health may have been a factor in his behaviour, “but I simply can’t be sure of this,” the judge said.
Incidents of “bigotry and hate” appear to be on the rise in the region, the judge noted.
“Mr. Porco’s message was clear: No More Muslims,” the judge said. “There can be no other rational inference to be drawn except that he targeted a segment of the community based on religious grounds.”

Tarik Chadlioui, 43, is wanted in Spain for recruiting Islamic State terrorists, where he could face 20 years in jail, and moved to the UK from Belgium two years ago.
He is alleged to be the spiritual leader of the jihadist network that inspired Omar Mostefai, one of the Bataclan bombers who killed 86 people in Paris in November 2015. He has also previously been linked with Anjem Choudary, the infamous convicted British hate preacher, The Times reports.
Mr. Chadlioui was one of six people arrested across Europe in June, and Spanish authorities allege he made three pro-jihadi videos for extremist forces in Syria during two visits to Mallorca in 2014 and 2015.
He appeared at an extradition hearing in Westminster Magistrates Court on Thursday, wearing Islamic dress and using an Arabic translator. His barrister claimed the defendant “is an anti-terrorist”.
“He has uploaded thousands of videos to YouTube,” barrister Malcolm Hawkes said, according to the BBC. “This is what he does, he is an anti-terrorist preacher.” Mr. Chadlioui has more than 17,000 subscribers.
He has eight children in the Sparkhill area of Birmingham, aged between 4 months and 18 years old, and the city has become a popular destination for fundamentalist Muslims fleeing burqa bans in other parts of Europe. The nearby neighbourhood of Small Heath is 95 per cent Muslim.
Mr. Chadlioui is also contesting his extradition on the basis that it is “a clear interference with his right to a family life” under Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
Mr. Hawkes said: “It’s disproportionate, therefore, to seek his extradition at this stage. It’s a clear… interference with his right to a family life. For these reasons I would urge you to discharge this warrant.”
Senior district judge Emma Arbuthnot adjourned judgement until Tuesday. Mr. Chadlioui was remanded in custody.”

Armed military to replace cops on Danish streets and border
Starting Friday, armed soldiers from the Danish Armed Forces (Forsvaret) will replace police officers at both Denmark’s southern border to Germany and at potential terror targets in Copenhagen.
According to the Danish National Police (Rigspolitiet) and Copenhagen Police, 160 soldiers will patrol the border and take over guard duties at Jewish institutions including the Great Synagogue in central Copenhagen.
The synagogue has been under constant police protection since a Danish-born terrorist of Palestinian descent shot and killed 37-year-old Dan Uzan, a volunteer security guard, outside the building in February 2015. The gunman, Omar El-Hussein, had earlier in the night opened fire with an automatic rifle outside a cultural centre hosting a free speech event, killing 55-year-old Finn Nørgaard and injuring police officers. El-Hussein was later shot and killed by police.

For over a year, the Dems had bet everything on trying to explain Trump’s win as a Russian influence operation. But the investigation has gone to some interesting places. Like Russian ads pushing Bernie Sanders and race riots.
The left started with the premise that these kinds of tactics were a covert plot to support Trump or opponents of Islamic migration. But that premise died hard once it became clear that the Russians were exploiting a variety of causes across the left-right spectrum for their influence operation.

ITALY – Al Qarawiyyin Professors to Teach at Italian University’s New Islamic Studies Program
Rabat – Professors from Fes’ Al Qarawiyyin University will be giving courses in Sharia and Islamic tradition to students of Islamic Studies in Italian University of Siena.
The Italian University of Siena opened a new major for the training of imams, the first of its kind in Europe. The courses will be operational starting in the 2017-2018 academic year.
The two universities signed a partnership agreement on Tuesday, September 26 for the launch of a training branch for imams in the Faculty of Humanities and Civilizational Communication of the Italian University.
“This is to train imams able to defend the authentic image of Islam,” the president of Al Qarawiyyin, Amal Jalal, told Maghreb Press Agency (MAP) after the signing ceremony.
Teachers from Al Qarawiyyin will provide classes in the areas of Sharia and Islamic tradition, fiqh al-mouâmalat (Islamic jurisprudence), civilizational communication, and the history of religions. They will teach Sharia in the Arabic language for Islamic Studies majors, while other students will be able to take courses in French or English, he said.
In addition to classes in fiqh and Sharia, imam students will receive instruction from Italian teachers in humanities, law, social, and economics.
The studies in this branch will last three years. Graduates will receive a diploma similar to the one issued by the Institute Mohammed VI for the teaching of imams, morchidines, and morchidates.
Last April, the Union of Mosques of France had announced the opening of a training institute in France, by the beginning of 2018.

ITALY – Protesters Clash With Police at Rally Against G7 Ministerial Meeting in Turin
hose protesting against the labor and employment ministers’ meeting of the G7 states, ongoing in the Italian city of Turin, reportedly engaged in clashes with the police and took over the local university building.
ROME (Sputnik) — The group of demonstrators included students as well anarchists and anti-globalists, according to La Repubblica newspaper, showing that the protesters were shouting the slogans “We will take back our city” and “We are the giants, and you are the seven dwarfs.”
The protesters reportedly tried to break through the police cordon to reach the hotel where the G7 ministerial meeting is underway, however, police responded by beating the demonstrators with batons.
The newspaper reported that two people had been detained while several others had been injured as a result of the scuffles.
As a sign of protest against the workers’ exploitation, the activists reportedly blocked the access to one of the local supermarkets. Also, the retail outlets in central Turin closed subsequently, according to reports.
The clashes have led to unrest with the protesters flipping trash bins and throwing eggs on the building of the General Confederation of Italian Industry, the media outlet said. The demonstrators subsequently reached the Turin University campus and took it over, declaring the building the headquarters of the future protests, planned for Friday night, according to the newspaper.
The meeting of labor ministers from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States, is being held on Friday and Sunday as part of the 2017 Italian presidency of the G7.

Update on German Elections

There’s been great interest in the role of the internet in the German elections last weekend. Now that the campaign is over, we want to give you an update on Facebook’s efforts to help defend the integrity of the elections.
The leading political parties used our platform to engage voters. Chancellor Merkel used her Facebook Page to share key moments from her election campaign, and Martin Schulz of the Social Democratic Party shared a story about a young refugee that he met who went on to get an apprentice position. These kinds of interactions brought voters closer to the candidates and supported more informed conversations about the election.
After reports of foreign interference in the run-up to the US and French presidential elections, we also worked closely with German officials on a number of initiatives to fight disinformation and make Facebook a safer and more secure environment for genuine civic engagement.
Promoting Authenticity. To prevent people from misusing our platform, we announced a new push to remove fake accounts by spotting suspicious patterns of activity. In the month before the election, we removed tens of thousands of fake accounts in Germany.
Encouraging an Informed Electorate. To fight false news and support healthy civic discourse, we tested Related Articles, which gives people easier access to different perspectives, and used machine learning to reduce clickbait and spam, including in videos.
To help voters understand the parties‘ policy positions, we provided a tab where political parties on Facebook could set out their position on key issues. When someone clicked on an article about the federal election in their News Feed, they were given the option to compare the major political parties‘ perspectives. People were also able to explore the parties‘ positions on key issues, gaining exposure to a diverse set of viewpoints.
We also launched an Election Hub experience where people could see which candidates were on the ballot. The day after the election, we launched an in-app notification inviting people to find and follow their newly elected representatives.
Supporting Government Election Security Efforts. Facebook co-operated closely with German authorities, such as the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). We provided training for members of Parliament and candidates on online security issues. We also set up a dedicated reporting channel for the BSI for issues related to security and authenticity in the context of the federal elections.
Helping To Understand The Election Results. On election night, we supported national and international media partners such as El Pais, Funke Mediengruppe, RTL Nieuws, T-Online and others who reported on the voting and provided context on the results via Facebook Live using facilities in our Berlin office.
These actions did not eliminate misinformation entirely in this election – but they did make it harder to spread, and less likely to appear in people’s News Feeds. Studies concluded that the level of false news was low. We learned a lot, and will continue to apply those lessons in other forthcoming elections.
Protecting the integrity of our platforms during elections is a huge focus for us and something we are committed to – particularly in the face of hostile and co-ordinated interventions. Staying ahead of those who are trying to misuse our service is a constant effort led by our security and integrity teams. As Mark said last week, we don’t want anyone to use our tools to undermine democracy.
To help strengthen both the internet and digital elections infrastructure as a whole, we will expand our partnerships with election commissions around the world. We already work with electoral commissions in many countries to help people register to vote and learn about the issues. We’ll keep doing that, and now we’re also going to establish a channel to inform election commissions of the online risks we’ve identified in their specific elections.
People want to see accurate information on Facebook and so do we. This is an ongoing effort – which is why we are doing everything we can to promote information security and permanently fight false news. As long as there are people seeking to disrupt the democratic process, we will continue working closely with our partners — in government and in civil society — to defend our platform from malicious interference. We’re grateful for the co-operation of our partners in Germany and beyond, and committed to supporting open and fair elections across Europe and the world.

An unsettling video has emerged of protesters playing the sound of explosions while shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ to rouse crowds in east London on Tuesday night.
Witnesses said that men wearing Islamic dress gathered in Seven Kings near Ilford at 7.45pm.
Two men repeatedly shouted Allahu Akbar into a microphone while playing gunshot sounds at volume on a speaker.
A witness, who asked not to be named said: ‘I was alarmed, I didn’t know what was going on. When someone shouts Allahu Akbar while playing gunshot sounds on a speaker it is deliberately trying to alarm.
‘There was a lot of commotion with a big group shouting and cheering whenever the men got closer with the speaker.’
