  2. Iran-born AfD politician investigated over Islamophobia accusations (thelocal, Aug 9, 2017)
    https://www.thelocal.de/20170809/iran-born-afd-politician-investigated-over-islamophobia-accusations

“Prosecutors in the southwest German city of Saarbrücken are investigating an Iran-born AfD politician over accusations that she made Islamophobic statements.

A prosecutor’s office spokeswoman said on Wednesday that AfD politician Laleh Hadjimohamadvali – a candidate in the upcoming national elections – is suspected of defamation of religious groups, as well as incitement to hatred.

Hadjimohamadvali was born in Iran and has said that she fled to Germany to get away from Islam in the 1980s after the 1979 Iranian Revolution led to the establishment of an Islamic Republic.

According to the Saarbrücker Zeitung, Hadjimohamadvali said during a party gathering on June 24th that Islam was “worse than the plague” because she said Muslims become stronger in Germany every day and are taking over an ever greater portion of the country.

A former member of the AfD reported the statements to authorities after the Saarbrücker Zeitung reported what she said.

The newspaper further writes that Hadjimohamadvali claims she has been blocked from Facebook multiple times in the past because of her posts.

Saarbrücken prosecutors are also deciding whether to investigate another AfD politician who wrote on Facebook regarding people-smuggling boats: “At best, all contents on board sink. Yes, I mean that seriously.” She further wrote that the “customers”, meaning refugees, who go to people smugglers act “like primates”.

The leading state candidate for the AfD in the national election, Christian Wirth, has distanced himself from both women, saying that the generalization and denigration of an entire religion is “not permissible”.

“There are also many peaceful Muslims in our country,” Wirth told the Saarbrücker Zeitung.

The AfD’s strong criticism of the German government’s refugee policies granting protection to people from mainly Muslim-majority countries in part helped the party grow in success in state parliament elections in recent years amid discontent with the handling of the refugee crisis.

But going into the national elections on September 24th, the party’s current polling figures shows their support has been roughly cut in half since reaching a high of around 14 percent in many polls last autumn. Current surveys now show them at between 7-9 percent – still enough to make it past the 5 percent threshold to gain seats in the Bundestag (German parliament) after they failed to meet the mark in their first election in 2013.”

A SUSPECTED ISIS jihadi has been arrested in Turkey after allegedly plotting to down a US jet using a drone, police said today.

Turkish cops swooped to detain the Russian national who they say was planning the terror attack against US forces operating out of the Incirlik air base, which is used by Nato forces.

Anti-terror police detained a Russian citizen and alleged member of the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL) in the southern Turkish city of Adana, Thursday, on suspicion of planning an attack on Incirlik Air Base.

Renat Bakiev is suspected of planning to use a drone to bring down a US plane at the airbase used by many of Turkey’s NATO allies, before going on to target members of the Alevi community in the area.

Anti-terror police were tipped off that Bakiev was scoping out sites close to the air base.

  4. ROAD TO HELL?China working on ‘repression network’ which lets cameras identify cars – and humans – with unprecedented accuracy

Peking University reveals results of research aimed at developing next generation of surveillance systems
    By Jasper Hamill

CAMERAS which catch speeding drivers and hit them with fines are one of the most unpopular motoring innovations ever introduced.

But the next generation of roadside spies are set to be even more powerful – and creepy – than traditional speed cameras.

Researchers at a Chinese university have revealed the results of an investigation aimed at creating a “repression network” which can identify cars from “customized paintings, decorations or even scratches” rather than by scanning its number plate.

This is great for cops because it would let them catch criminals who have changed the plates on a car.

Yet it would be hated by motorists because it will make hated speed cameras even more effective at punishing people who break the speed limit.

  5. Turkey issues detention warrants for 35 media employees

Turkish authorities on Thursday issued detention warrants for 35 journalists and media workers as part of the country’s ongoing crackdown on people suspected of ties to U.S.-based Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen, the state-run news agency reported.

Turkey accuses Gulen of masterminding last year’s failed military coup. Gulen denies involvement.

Police carried out raids in Istanbul to detain the suspects who allegedly used an encrypted messaging app that authorities say was favored by Gulen’s followers to communicate with each other. Anadolu Agency said they are suspected of “membership in a terror organization.”

Nine people have been detained so far, including Burak Ekici, an editor for the opposition Birgun newspaper, Anadolu said.

More than 50,000 people, including journalists, have been arrested since Turkey embarked on a wide scale crackdown in the aftermath of the July 15, 2016 coup attempt. More than 110,000 people have also been dismissed from government jobs.

Human rights groups have accused the government of using the coup attempt as a pretext to go after all government opponents.

The Turkish Journalists Association says some 150 have been shut down and nearly 160 journalists have been jailed.

  6. Asian grooming gangs abusing schoolgirls weren’t probed due to ‘political correctness’ (express, Aug 10, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/839383/bbc-today-radio-4-asian-grooming-gangs-newcastle-john-humphrys-crown-conviction-lib-dem

“ASIAN grooming gangs were not investigated “rigorously” enough because of political correctness, according to a former Crown Prosecution chief.

Ken Macdonald said there had been “past reluctance” to look into Muslim men who had been targeting white girls.

But speaking on the Today programme on BBC Radio 4, Lord MacDonald said that was no longer the case after recent prosecutions.

The Liberal Democrat peer’s comments come after 18 people were convicted of or admitted offences in a series of trials related to child sexual exploitation in Newcastle.

He said: “I think there has been in the past a reluctance to investigate a category of crime that people might believe attaches to a particular community in circumstances where men may be targeting young women.”

Presenter John Humphrys cut in to clarify which part of the community he was referring to.

He said: ”In other words, we’re talking about – by and large – Muslim men who have been targeting white girls?”

    Lord Macdonald replied: “Yes, exactly.”

Mr Humphrys then asked if political correctness had “interfered with the course of justice”.

Lord Macdonald reiterated cases has not been looked into as they should have been.

He said: ”I think that’s no longer the case and I think the fact that these sorts of cases are now being brought successfully demonstrates that those sorts of so-called taboos no longer exist – but I don’t think any of us can pretend that in the past these cases have been examined as rigorously as they might have been.”

He added he hoped attitudes towards young women in these cases had changed.

He said: ”There’s obviously a serious issue about the way young women are regarded in these cases.

“Regarded as trash, regarded as available for sex, and this seems to be a recurring theme – and I don’t think anyone thinks now we’ve got it.

“This is a major problem, it’s a major problem in particular communities and it has to be confronted not just by law enforcement but by communities themselves.”

Lord Macdonald said he expected more cases and added he was sure there were ongoing investigations.

He said: “I think it’s a real wake-up call for communities. Not all sex crime takes place in a single community, of course we know that, that’s obvious.

“But there is a particular issue about some men in some communities who feel these young girls are trash who are available for sex.

“We all know that, we’ve seen it in this case, we’ve seen it in other cases, we know it’s going on as we speak.

“Law enforcement has a response, the police have a response, prosecutors have a response, judges have a response, but communities need a response themselves.””

    • BBC – Police say paying rapist ‘was right’-

A police chief has said paying a child rapist £10,000 as part of an investigation into a grooming gang was the “right thing”.

Northumbria Police’s Steve Ashman said the information provided by the man led to the conviction of 17 men and a woman for abusing girls in Newcastle.

Charities have criticised the force for paying the criminal.
Mr Ashman told BBC News he was as “certain as I can be” that it was “morally” right.

“What we’ve ended up doing here is putting dangerous men behind bars and protecting vulnerable women and girls that we simply wouldn’t have been able to do if we didn’t have that jump off point we got [from the information],” he said

Mr Ashman also dismissed claims that the informant, known as XY, was asked by police to take vulnerable girls to sex parties.
He said the claim made by XY was “100%” a lie and had been rejected by a judge.

Mr Ashman said: “We absolutely did not task him to go to parties with vulnerable women and girls.

“The use of the informant was principally about finding out who might be involved, the cars they were using, the addresses they were living at.

“This was a starting point, it never resulted in XY being exposed to offending.”

“ISIS jihadis arriving back from Syria are being offered apartments, education and jobs to reintegrate the radicalised back into society.

Police in the city of Aarhus, Denmark introduced the scheme after 36 young men travelled to Syria to join jihad, with 19 returning back to the country.

But the policy has been criticised by Danish MPs, with Naser Khadeer – a Muslim member of the Conservative People’s party – calling for a hardline approach to foreign fighters.

Speaking on the Australian news programme Dateline, he said: “What I have criticised when it comes to the Aarhus model is when you have been in Syria and you come back, it is wrong in my opinion to reward whoever has been in Syria by giving them an apartment, jobs, education.

“We should prosecute them not reward them.”

Yet Superintendent Allan Aarslev claimed “most” of those returning from Syria are now “very well integrated and most of them are very happy to have had a second chance”.

Superintendent Aarslev said: “These are men who have been to Syria and we don’t know what they have been doing down there and that’s the choice we have to make – between helping them and leaving them alone.

“From my point of view it would be much more safe for the local community here to help these young men to have a normal life after they have returned than to leave them alone.”

He added: “If we did not integrate them into the local community again they would be a safety hazard for us.”…”

    https://www.alaraby.co.uk/english/news/2017/8/10/turkey-seeks-arrest-of-media-workers-over-gulen-links

“Turkish authorities on Thursday issued arrest warrants for 35 employees of media groups on suspicion of links to the alleged mastermind of the failed 2016 coup Fethullah Gulen, the state-run news agency said.

Nine people have been detained so far, Anadolu news agency said, adding that the suspects were accused of using a messaging app allegedly used by Gulen to mobilise followers in Turkey and of belonging to a “terror” group.

Thousands of people have already been arrested in Turkey for using the Bylock messaging app, which the authorities say was used by Gulen supporters to coordinate actions ahead of the plot.

  10. Up to 55 migrants killed in second ‘deliberate drowning’ (BBC, Aug 10, 2017)

“Another 55 migrants are thought to have died after being deliberately drowned, the UN’s migration agency says.

Up to 180 migrants were forced from a boat off the coast of Yemen.

It is the second incident in as many days after about 50 people died on Wednesday after being pushed from a boat by smugglers who feared arrest.

A spokeswoman for the International Organisation of Migration (IOM) told Reuters the incidents “may be the start of a new trend”.

“Smugglers know the situation is dangerous for them and they could be shot at, so they drop them near the shore,” she said.

The organisation uncovered bodies of 29 of migrants in shallow graves on a beach on Wednesday.

They estimated the average age of those on board to be 16.

Only five bodies have been recovered from Thursday’s incident, with 50 reported missing, presumed dead.

Despite ongoing conflict and dire humanitarian issues, Yemen is still seen by many Africans as a gateway to other Gulf states or Europe…”

  13. China seethes on sidelines amid latest North Korea crisis

BEIJING (Reuters) – Angered as the United States and its allies ignore Chinese calls to calm tensions over North Korea, and distracted by domestic concerns, China is largely sitting out the latest crisis with nuclear-armed Pyongyang.

While a conflict on the Korean peninsula would affect China, and in worst-case scenarios unleash a radioactive cloud or waves of refugees into its northeast, Beijing has kept a low profile as tension has escalated in recent days.

North Korea dismissed on Thursday warnings by U.S. President Donald Trump that it would face “fire and fury” if it threatened the United States as a “load of nonsense”, and outlined plans for a missile strike near the Pacific territory of Guam.

China, whose regular daily foreign ministry press briefings are suspended for a two week summer holiday, has said little in public about the situation this week, reiterating its usual calls for calm and restraint.

“U.S.-backed forces now have Islamic State fighters surrounded in central Raqqa, a Syrian Kurdish commander said, but he predicted that driving the militants out could take up to four months.

“We’ve cleared about half of Old Raqqa … and we’re advancing on all axes,” said Haval Gabar, the 25-year-old commander from the Kurdish YPG militia who is directing the assault on Islamic State’s Syrian stronghold.

Units of the Syrian Democratic Forces, an alliance dominated by the YPG, fully linked up in Raqqa’s southern districts on Tuesday, encircling the militants in the city centre which includes the Old City,

“The day before yesterday there was still a small gap,” Gabar said on Wednesday. “Yesterday it was closed. We are now pressing towards Mansour and Rashid districts.”

From his command post, a former Syrian government police headquarters overlooking the Old City walls, Gabar hunched over maps and radioed orders to YPG units 400 metres (yards) ahead in the densely-built city centre.

  16. U.S. slaps new sanctions on Venezuela, fugitive mayor defiant

CARACAS/WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Washington imposed sanctions on eight Venezuelan officials on Wednesday for their role in creating an all-powerful legislative body loyal to President Nicolas Maduro, while a mayor-turned-fugitive called for more anti-government protests.

The new U.S. sanctions targeted politicians and security figures but stopped short of actions against Venezuela’s vital oil industry. Energy sector sanctions, which could cripple Venezuela’s already ailing economy, are still being considered, U.S. officials said.

The sanctions followed Friday’s installation of a legislative superbody known as the constituent assembly, made up entirely of allies of the ruling Socialist Party and armed with the power to re-write the constitution.

The assembly’s first action was to fire Venezuela’s chief prosecutor, who had accused Maduro of human rights abuses, confirming opposition fears that the assembly would purge the government of dissenting voices.

  18. Know what else is racist? The books you read to your kids at bedtime
By Howard Portnoy August 10, 2017

No, we’re not talking “Little Black Sambo,” which was relegated to the same bonfire that consumed the TV series “Amos ‘n’ Andy” decades ago. And we’re not talking “Uncle Remus,” either. Those titles are all offensive in a way that the television comedy “Good Times,” which chronicled the lives of a poor black family living in a Chicago housing project, was somehow not.

Instead, Philip Nel, who teaches English at Kansas State University, sets his sights on the “implicit and explicit forms of racism” in his newly released book “Was the Cat in the Hat Black?” According to Amazon:

The book fearlessly examines topics … like how the children’s book industry can perpetuate structural racism via whitewashed covers even while making efforts to increase diversity. Rooted in research yet written with a lively, crackling touch, Nel delves into years of literary criticism and recent sociological data in order to show a better way forward. Though much of what is proposed here could be endlessly argued, the knowledge that what we learn in childhood imparts both subtle and explicit lessons about whose lives matter is not debatable.

It sounds as though the book is part j’accuse and part manifesto for how children’s books should be written (read: sanitized) henceforth.

If you’re not sure which side of the ideological divide Nel resides on, the answer is hinted at in this gesture toward humility cum boast:

  20. Orwellian: ‘Russian propaganda’ watchdog ‘Hamilton 68’ flogs MSM theme linking Google engineer to ‘alt-right’
    By J.E. Dyer August 10, 2017

You may not have heard of Hamilton 68, which hasn’t been in business for very long. Named for Federalist Paper Number 68 – thought to have been penned by Alexander Hamilton – the media watchdog effort is a project of the Alliance for Securing Democracy, which in turn is sponsored by the German Marshall Fund of the United States.

There are reasons for paying attention to this new effort, so I urge you to hang on to the end.

Last week, Hamilton 68’s “Disinformation Dashboard” opened for business and started bringing us a daily tracker of the activities of (what it says are) some 600 Twitter accounts that retail Russian information themes.

The Hamilton 68 site doesn’t provide a list of these miscreants. But it does provide a regularly updated display of their top and trending topics and URLs.

At midday on 9 August, for example, the top five topics are Trump, North Korea, US, Russia, and Syria. The top five trending topics are Guam, fury, Manafort, Glen, and Campbell.

  21. Gen. Mattis releases tough statement on North Korea
By Jeff Dunetz August 9, 2017

Yesterday Pres. Trump was roundly criticized by Democrats and media liberals for his statement about the North Korean nuclear threat, specifically his mention of “fire and fury.” Here’s the comment in its entirety:

North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States. They will be met with fire and the fury like the world has never seen.

Today that criticism was answered not by North Korea, but by U.S. Secretary of Defense and retired Marine General James Mattis. Mattis answered the criticism with a statement of his own that was just as tough as that of the president’s, if not tougher. And while the president’s critics worried that he is a novice on the world and military stages, that same critique cannot be fairly leveled at the general who spent 44 years in the Marines, many of which were on the international stage.

  22. Somalis with criminal records coming to Canada from US, intelligence report warns

    By Stewart Bell

A better life and an easier path to full citizenship are what most Somalis living in Minneapolis associate with Canada. Sean Leslie reports.

As the United States has stepped up deportations of Somalis with criminal records, some have crossed illegally into Canada and made refugee claims under false identities, according to an intelligence report obtained by Global News.

The fear of deportation by U.S. immigration authorities appears to have driven some Somalis with criminal histories to travel north and illicitly cross the border to claim asylum, said the Canada Border Services Agency Intelligence Brief.

While those with serious criminal pasts represent only a small fraction of Somali refugee claimants, the report said the U.S. removal policy was “posing an increased security risk as some of these individuals are fleeing to Canada.”

“Somali nationals with criminal records in the U.S. may be attempting to evade justice by claiming refugee protection in Canada,” said the report, distributed by the CBSA’s Intelligence Operations and Analysis Division.

The report said 16 Somalis with “serious” criminal pasts were known to have arrived in Canada from the U.S. between 2012 and 2015. Six had records in the U.S. for sexual offences — three involving minors as victims. Eleven with records in Minnesota had illegally crossed the border in the same area near Emerson, Manitoba. • Canada, in fact, removed special status for Haitians long before the U.S.

A deliberate misinformation campaign over social media is being blamed for the recent flood of Haitians illegally crossing into Canada.

Messages sent throughout the Haitian community in the U.S. reportedly told recipients that Canada was automatically accepting all Haitians. This supposed “WhatsApp hoax” even told them that Canada was paying the bill for all costs.

No wonder so many aspiring refugees have arrived on our doorstep in recent days.

But that’s not the only false information being spread when it comes to the migrant crisis on our southern border.

Another theme being perpetuated through the media in Canada is that Donald Trump is to blame for this crisis.

Trump mused about suspending the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitians in the United States, thus prompting the sudden mad-dash to Canada.

But what many don’t realize is that Canada had its own temporary program for displaced Haitians – except we wound ours down two years ago.

Far from being obtuse and provocative, Trump is merely following Canada’s lead.

Following the devastating earthquake that struck the Caribbean nation in 2010, wealthy countries like Canada and the U.S. created special humanitarian programs to help.

Alongside hundreds of millions in aid and disaster relief funding, both countries created unique immigration rules for displaced Haitians.

The U.S.’s Temporary Protected Status program has allowed approximately 60,000 Haitians to remain in the U.S., as the title would suggest, temporarily – until Haiti was able rebuild enough for them to return home.

Likewise, Canada introduced a “temporary suspension of removals” program and a special visa for those who qualify on “humanitarian and compassionate grounds.”

Under Canada’s program, any Haitian that met our health and national security standards could apply for permanent residency through this visa.

Canada halted deportations back to Haiti – even for serious and dangerous criminals – and told Haitians they could come “without risk of being removed from Canada.”

Similar to the U.S. program, this was a temporary program.

On Dec. 1, 2014, the Government of Canada released a public notice stating it was winding down this program.

“In acknowledgement of the improved conditions in Haiti,” the notice read, “the Government of Canada (has) lifted the temporary suspension of removals.”

The government eventually gave Haitians an extra year-and-a-half to apply for residency in Canada, but the program was fully rolled back in August 2016 – under the watch of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

After a thorough review of country conditions, the government decided that Haiti was stable and safe enough to suspend the program.

At the time, news reports stated that approximately 3,200 Haitian nationals could be deported from Canada as the result of the program ending.

Immigration experts say that many of them have since been sent back.

And yet, when it comes to Haitians now coming into Canada, the Trudeau government is rolling out the red carpet and allowing misleading information to spread.

Instead of telling all asylum seekers from Haiti that they will very likely be deported, the Trudeau government is setting up impromptu welcome stations along the border and shuttling asylum claimants to Montreal – a self-styled sanctuary city.

But Canada routinely rejects most asylum claims filed by Haitians. In the first half of 2015, the last year data is available, the acceptance rate for asylum claimants from Haiti was only 38%.

Rather than clarifying misinformation about our immigration laws, Trudeau is reinforcing these myths. His government’s welcome wagon is misleading Haitian migrants and giving them false hope about their future in Canada.

      • Wishful thinking, perhaps.
Hard to imagine Trudope enforcing deportations.
Unless these Haitians are too offensively Christian for his puppet-masters to tolerate. Voodoo and cannibal rites should be okay, though.

“A young Iranian who was arrested, convicted and sentenced to death as a child was executed Thursday, a semi-official news agency in Iran reported.

Human rights group Amnesty International called the killing of Alireza Tajiki “shameful.”

Tajiki was 15 years old when he was arrested six years ago for murder and sodomy.

Anair quoted general prosecutor of Shiraz city Ali Salehi as saying the execution took place Thursday morning and was “legal.”

Ali said Tajiki had a “fair and just” prosecution and that Iran’s Supreme Court upheld the death sentence following an appeal, the news outlet reported.

Under Iranian law, murder, rape, sodomy and armed robbery are punishable by death…”

“Iran has arrested six people for teaching Zumba classes to children, accusing them of trying to “change lifestyles” in the Islamic Republic.

The group of four men and two women were charged over their dancing and for not adhering to the country’s strict hijab dress code.

“The members of a network teaching and filming Western dances have been identified and arrested,” said Hamid Damghani, an official with the Revolutionary Guards.

He said the Latin American fitness classes had been mixed and videos of their practices were published on social media.

“They were arrested by the Guards’ intelligence forces while teaching and creating video clips… as they sought to change lifestyles and promote a lack of hijab,” Mr Damghani said…”

“An Iranian convicted of being a spy in the United Arab Emirates and trying to smuggle equipment for the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The state-run WAM news agency reported late Wednesday that 48-year-old man, identified only by the initials H.R.M.H.M., imported the equipment from the U.S. with the intention of sending it onto Iran.

The report said the man would be deported after serving his sentence.

Iran long has described its nuclear program as peaceful. Western fears over it prompted sanctions later lifted by the 2015 nuclear accord with Iran, which capped its enrichment of uranium.

In April, a UAE court sentenced another Iranian identified by the initials S.M.A.R. to 10 years in prison for similarly trying to aid Iran’s nuclear program.”

  26. French security forces now top targets of Islamic radicals (abcnews, Aug 10, 2017)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/french-security-forces-now-top-targets-islamic-radicals-49134018

“French soldiers taking part in Operation Sentinelle are the highest profile symbols of the fight against Islamic extremism — but along with other security forces patrolling French streets are increasingly the main targets of attacks.

Operation Sentinelle was created to guard prominent French sites after a string of deadly attacks in 2015. The soldiers’ status as representatives, and defenders, of the state, has put security forces in the line of fire. But experts offer other reasons, too, for why attacks in France have recently focused on heavily armed protectors.

No civilians have been attacked this year — although intelligence services have foiled seven planned attacks, France’s interior minister said recently. More than 230 people, many of them out for a night of fun, were killed in 2015 and 2016.

Islamic radicals may seek extra media visibility presumably afforded by going after emblematic targets or be tempted by the wish to die as a “martyr,” several experts said. Or they may want to up assurance of redemption with an especially “heroic” act in the ultimate stage of a life spent mainly in delinquency in which security forces were the top enemy, the experts added.

Knives, machetes, hammers and vehicles have been used in the seven attacks this year — in each case against security forces — despite France’s state of emergency. In the latest, on Wednesday, a BMW slammed into six soldiers as they left their barracks outside Paris for duty in what authorities said was a “deliberate” attack. The suspect, an Algerian living legally in France, was arrested after a highway manhunt and hospitalized with bullet wounds.

“We need to finally suppress the idea that there is a common profile for terrorists,” said Alain Bauer, a leading criminologist and security expert. But, he added, attacking security forces is “a la mode” now in France…”

  27. Obama, Clinton and Fertilizing a Nuclear North Korea
How leftist fantasies and appeasement put America in nuclear jeopardy.
    August 10, 2017
    Matthew Vadum

After Barack Obama’s eight long years of gutting America’s missile-defense capabilities, our nation has awakened to the nightmare of a North Korea armed with nuclear missiles capable of reaching U.S. territory.

Fortunately, Donald Trump, who, unlike his predecessor, takes his responsibility to defend the nation seriously, now resides in the White House, and Obama, one in a series of Democrat presidents who cleared the way for the nuclear adventurism of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), is on the outside looking in.

“North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States,” President Trump told reporters yesterday after applauding the unanimous weekend approval of the toughest U.N. Security Council sanctions resolution against North Korea to date. “They will be met with fire, fury, and frankly power the likes of which this world has never seen before.”

  28. The Strange Islamist Career of a David Horowitz Campus Critic
When you reject awareness of Islamo-Fascism, you become its slave.
    August 10, 2017
    Daniel Greenfield

Ten years ago, Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week came to Columbia University.

A month earlier, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian leader who had called for the destruction of Israel and denied the Holocaust, had been invited to speak at Columbia. After that shameful event, Columbia University’s College Republicans invited David Horowitz to counter the anti-Semitic hatred and lies.

“I can’t talk about Columbia without mentioning that it is a center of Jew hatred,” Horowitz said.

Opposing David Horowitz’s condemnation of anti-Semitism at Columbia was the Progressive Jewish Alliance composed of a group that included Alana Krivo-Kaufman and Shlomo Bolts. The “Alliance” announced plans to make armbands and t-shirts protesting Horowitz.

They also wanted to invite the Columbia professors listed by Horowitz in his “101 Most Dangerous Academics in America” book to speak.

These would have included Nicholas De Genova, who had said, “The only true heroes are those who would find ways that help defeat the U.S. military. I personally would like to see a million Mogadishus.” And Joseph Massad, who had declared that the, “Jewish state is a racist state that does not have the right to exist.”

  29. President Trump Sends North Korea an Unprecedented Message
The days of ‘strategic patience’ and appeasement are over.
    August 10, 2017
    Joseph Klein

President Donald Trump issued his strongest warning to date to North Korea on Tuesday, after reports surfaced that North Korea had developed a nuclear weapon small enough to fit on a missile. North Korea has already test fired two intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of reaching the United States. “North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States,” President Trump declared in blunt language that contained none of the usual diplomatic mumbo jumbo. “They will be met with fire, fury and frankly power the likes of which this world has never seen before.”

While President Trump hailed the unanimous passage last Saturday of the toughest United Nations Security Council sanctions resolution to date against North Korea, he evidently is running out of patience with North Korea’s intransigence.

Defense Secretary James Mattis issued his own statement on Wednesday, urging the North Korean regime to stand down or face the consequences. “The DPRK should cease any consideration of actions that would lead to the end of its regime and the destruction of its people,” Secretary Mattis’s statement read. “While our State Department is making every effort to resolve this global threat through diplomatic means, it must be noted that the combined allied militaries now possess the most precise, rehearsed and robust defensive and offensive capabilities on Earth.”

  31. Ed Klein: Hillary’s Plea Bargain

The Justice Department has reopened the investigation of Hillary Clinton’s mishandling of classified material on her private email system while she was secretary of state, and is considering offering her a plea bargain if she will agree to plead guilty to charges of breaking the law, according to a Clinton attorney.

The discussion of a plea bargain took place late last month and was offered by a high-ranking Justice Department official to the Clinton lawyer.

During the exploratory talks with the prosecutor, the Clinton attorney was told that despite former FBI Director James Comey’s decision last July not to prosecute Hillary, the Justice Department has reexamined the email case and believes there are ample grounds for prosecuting Hillary on a number of counts.

    https://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/ed-klein-hillary-plea-bargain/2017/08/08/id/806488/

    • If this report is true it is bad news for the rule of law! The deal is suppose to be that Hillary admits committing crimes and the Justice Department doesn’t prosecute her. This would set the precedent a ht certain people are above the law, thus making our multi tiered Justice System open and in the eyes of may part of the law.

    • Federal Judge Orders State Dept To Search Hillary Aides’ Accounts For Benghazi Records

The search for State Department emails regarding the Sept. 11, 2012 Benghazi attacks received a boost this week when a federal judge ordered the agency to search the government email accounts of several Hillary Clinton aides.

Washington D.C. District Court Judge Amit Mehta, an Obama appointee, ordered State to search the accounts of Huma Abedin, Cheryl Mills and Jake Sullivan, Clinton’s top aides at the State Department, in response to a lawsuit filed by the conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch.

Mehta said that the State Department did not do enough to search for all emails it has on its computer systems regarding the Benghazi attacks, which left four Americans dead.

The State Department reviewed the 30,000-plus emails that Clinton returned to the agency in Dec. 2014. It has also searched emails that Abedin, Mills and Sullivan sent and received on personal accounts.

“Secretary Clinton used a private email server, located in her home, to transmit and receive work-related communications during her tenure as Secretary of State,” Mehta said.

“[State] has not, however, searched the one records system over which it has always had control and that is almost certain to contain some responsive records: the state.gov email server.”

Mehta said that the State Department “has offered no assurance” that the records it has received so far from Clinton and the trio of aides “constitute the entirely of Secretary Clinton’s emails during the time period relevant to Plaintiff’s FOIA request.”

Judicial Watch, which has pursued several lawsuits related to Clinton emails despite her election loss, celebrated Mehta’s order.

“This major court ruling may finally result in more answers about the Benghazi scandal — and Hillary Clinton’s involvement in it — as we approach the attack’s fifth anniversary,” Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton said in a statement.

“It is remarkable that we had to battle both the Obama and Trump administrations to break through the State Department’s Benghazi stonewall. Why are Secretary Tillerson and Attorney General Sessions wasting taxpayer dollars protecting Hillary Clinton and the Obama administration?”
