“Medical examiners have identified the remains of a man who died at the World Trade Center on 9/11 – 16 years after the terror attacks took place.

This is the first new identification made by scientists since March 2015, in what has become a painstaking and ongoing effort to offer closure to families.

At the request of his relatives, the man’s name has not been publicly released.

Of the 2,753 people killed by hijackers who crashed planes into the twin towers on 11 September 2001, more than 1,100 are yet to have any remains identified.

The New York City medical examiner’s office has begun to use new, more sensitive DNA technology in its attempt to connect more than 21,900 fragments to victims…”

“THE US is considering a campaign of deadly airstrikes on ISIS militants in the Philippines, defence officials reported.

The Pentagon may announce the decision later today as officials believe the jihadi’s are now threatening US allies in the region.

Currently, a small US military presence has been helping to co–ordinate ground troops in the counter–attack against ISIS fighters.

The US has had tight links to the Philippines and has shared intelligence for years, Pentagon spokesperson Captain Jeff Davis described it as a “steady state”…”

  3. ‘Ask the parents!’ Venezuela activist hits out at Corbyn’s support for ‘COMMUNIST’ Maduro (express, Aug 8, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/838228/BBC-newsnight-Venezuela-Jeremy-Corbyn-Nicolas-Maduro-Juan-Andres-Mejia

“JEREMY Corbyn should ask the parents of dead protesters “what the real situation” in Venezuela is like after the Labour leader refused to condemn Nicolas Maduro’s despotic regime, an opposition political leader has claimed.

Avowed socialist Corbyn has previously heaped praise on the Maduro government, once calling the president after his election win to “congratulate” both him and “the whole of the Venezuelan people”.

Speaking on Newsnight, founder of the left leaning Popular Will party Juan Andres Mejia cast doubt on Mr Corbyn’s understanding of the conflict – and told him to ask “the mothers and fathers of those who have been killed” what is really going on in the country.

Mr Mejia said: “What I would say to Jeremy Corbyn is that he really has to know what’s going on in our country to make a statement.

“Violence has not been done by both sides. Violence has been promoted by the government.

“They have armed paramilitary groups that have taken the lives of hundreds of people in Venezuela.

“And maybe the mothers and fathers of those who have been killed would be willing to speak to Jeremy Corbyn to explain and to tell him what the real situation has been.”

Mr Corbyn finally spoke out about the riots, which has lead to the deaths of more than 120 people including scores of protestors, yet the Labour leader sat on the fence by condemning violence “by all sides”.

His comments came after weeks of silence on the political turmoil engulfing the country, while Boris Johnson condemned Mr Maduro for acting like a “dictator”…”

    • Bolivia: Morales points finger at US, offers support to Maduro during military parade

Bolivian President Evo Morales accused the United States of untoward intervention in Venezuela as he gave a speech during an armed forces celebration in Achacachi on Monday.

Having witnessed some 25,000 people, including service personnel and members of the indigenous population, Morales spoke to the masses and criticised apparent American self-interest in the ongoing political upheaval in its ally Venezuela.

Referring to the US as “the empire”, echoing Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s dubbing of US President Donald Trump, Morales said America was pursuing a “policy of revenge”.

“Venezuela is a strategic link and this link has the largest amount of oil in the geopolitical world and oil energy is what the empire seeks, first to overthrow it, then dominate it and then seize Venezuelan oil,” said Morales.

Evo Morales, Bolivian President (Spanish): “Venezuela is a strategic link and this link has the largest amount of oil in the geopolitical world and oil energy is what the empire seeks in Venezuela, first to overthrow, then dominate it and then seize Venezuelan oil.”

Evo Morales, Bolivian President (Spanish): “This fundamental problem: the pretext is the same as always. Democracy, human rights, terrorism are the same cover ups in the same media circus that it has always used with natural resources.”

Evo Morales, Bolivian President (Spanish): “A group of peoples who liberated this empire, today the empire rabidly applies the policy of revenge”

    • Venezuela: Thousands rally in support of Maduro’s new National Assembly

Thousands marched through downtown Caracas in support of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his newly opened National Constituent Assembly, Monday.

The country’s electorate chose representatives to form an assembly that will have the power to draft a new Venezuelan constitution in a high-profile election on July 30th, which the opposition and much of the international community have dubbed a ‘power-grab’ by the president.

Diosdado Cabello, Vice President of the United Socialist Party, also took aim at the wider reaction to an attack at a military barracks near Valencia on Sunday.

“They attacked a barracks, and the world went ‘a coup in Venezuela’. ‘A military rebellion’. The day that there’s a military rebellion, it will be from the nation’s armed force imposing the Bolivarian Revolution with even more force,” Cabello said.

  4. Rich SF residents get a shock: Someone bought their street

Thanks to a little-noticed auction sale, a South Bay couple are the proud owners of one of the most exclusive streets in San Francisco — and they’re looking for ways to make their purchase pay.
Tina Lam and Michael Cheng snatched up Presidio Terrace — the block-long, private oval street lined by 35 megamillion-dollar mansions — for $90,000 and change in a city-run auction stemming from an unpaid tax bill. They outlasted several other bidders.

Now they’re looking to cash in — maybe by charging the residents of those mansions to park on their own private street.

Those residents value their privacy — and their exclusivity. Past homeowners have included Sen. Dianne Feinstein and her financier husband, Richard Blum; House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi; and the late Mayor Joseph Alioto. A guard is stationed round the clock at the stone-gate entrance to the street to keep the curious away.

So imagine the residents’ surprise when San Jose residents Cheng and Lam wound up with the street, its sidewalks and every other bit of “common ground” in the private development that has been managed by the homeowners since at least 1905. That includes a string of well-coiffed garden islands, palm trees and other greenery that enhance the gated and guarded community at the end of Washington Street, just off Arguello Boulevard and down the hill from the Presidio.
“We just got lucky,”said Cheng, a real estate investor.

The homeowners, however, are crying foul and want the Board of Supervisors to negate the sale.
The couple’s purchase appears to be the culmination of a comedy of errors involving a $14-a-year property tax bill that the homeowners association failed to pay for three decades. It’s something that the owners of all 181 private streets in San Francisco are obliged to do.

In a letter to the city last month, Scott Emblidge, the attorney for the Presidio Homeowners Association, said the group had failed to pay up because its tax bill was being mailed to the Kearny Street address used by an accountant who hadn’t worked for the homeowners since the 1980s.
Two years ago, the city’s tax office put the property up for sale in an online auction, seeking to recover $994 in unpaid back taxes, penalties and interest. Cheng and Lam, trawling for real estate opportunities in the city, pounced on the offer — snatching up the parcel with a $90,100 bid, sight unseen.

  9. U.S. Is Sending More Marines to Afghanistan

    by Courtney Kube

The U.S. is sending dozens more Marines to Afghanistan, according to three U.S. defense officials.

Task Force Southwest, based in Helmand Province in southwestern Afghanistan, requested the additional Marines to help with internal force protection, the officials said. U.S. Central Command approved the request but the Marines have not yet moved into the country.

There are currently more than 300 Marines assigned to Task Force Southwest, and the total additional force is less than 100 marines, the officials said. The Marines will deploy from the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force Crisis Response Central Command, already based in the region. The officials would not say where the marines would deploy from specifically, with one saying, “we are redirecting them from where they’re at now to help with the mission.”

SHANGHAI: The Chinese navy and air force flexed their muscles in live-fire drills in seas adjacent to the Korean Peninsula, the defence ministry said, amid regional tensions over North Korea’s pursuit of nuclear weaponry.

The “large-scale” exercises were being conducted in the seas and skies off China’s east coast in the Yellow Sea and Bohai Gulf, and included the firing of dozens of missiles, a notice posted late Monday on the Ministry of Defence website said.

Naval and air force assets including dozens of ships, more than 10 aircraft, submarines and an unspecified number of coastal defence personnel took part in the drills, which the ministry said were aimed at testing weapons and honing the military’s abilities in conducting coastal assaults and intercepting air targets.

The ministry did not specify how long the drills were to last but a four-day shipping ban ending on Tuesday was issued for the area where the drills were held, according to notices by the military and local authorities.

  11. North Korea’s nuclear threat at a ‘new stage’, warns Japan

Defence paper said it was possible that the regime was able to miniaturise a nuclear warhead to load it on to a missile

Japan has warned that the threat from North Korean nuclear weapons has reached a “new stage” now that it appears to have developed an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching the US mainland.

In its defence white paper, Japan’s government said Pyongyang’s weapons programme had “advanced considerably,” adding that it was possible that the regime had acquired the ability to miniaturise nuclear warheads.

“North Korea’s development of ballistic missiles and its nuclear programme are becoming increasingly real and imminent problems for the Asia-Pacific region including Japan, as well as the rest of the world,” said the report, which ran to more than 500 pages.

Japan’s defence ministry said that security threats had reached a new stage after the North conducted two nuclear tests and more than 20 ballistic missile launches last year.

The report went on to speculate that North Korea had improved its technological expertise to the point where it could theoretically marry a nuclear warhead with a missile.

  12. US spy satellites detect North Korea moving anti-ship cruise missiles to patrol boat

Despite the United States’ insistence that North Korea halt its missile tests, U.S. spy agencies detected the rogue communist regime loading two anti-ship cruise missiles on a patrol boat on the country’s east coast just days ago.

It’s the first time these missiles have been deployed on this type of platform since 2014, U.S. officials with knowledge of the latest intelligence in the region told Fox News on Monday.

It also points to more evidence that North Korea isn’t listening to the diplomatic threats from the West.

  13. California: Massive armed response to tiny GOP protest at GOP assemblyman’s office

How tiny was the protest by conservative Republican activists, who were letting Assemblyman Marc Steinorth (R-Rancho Cucamonga) know how they felt about his “yes” vote in July on extending California’s costly cap-and-trade program?

It involved about a dozen people, armed only with a few cardboard signs, some cell phones, and a bullhorn.

Granted, they did enter Steinorth’s office suite – peacefully, and at the invitation of an office worker – and then proceed to give Steinorth’s representatives a piece of their mind. (You don’t have to take their word for how peaceful it was; it’s all on video, below.)

But the incongruously massive response of the California Highway Patrol and the San Bernardino County Sheriff looks over-the-top deranged.

In the video, there are dozens of officers deployed to deal with the menace of a few middle class, middle-aged people in leisure wear and sneakers, showing up to express themselves for 15 minutes. The patrol cars with flashing lights are arrayed all over the parking lot outside the assemblyman’s office.

  14. Former Navy SEAL warns of ‘gruesome massacre’ if Trump is railroaded out of office
By Joe Newby August 7, 2017

In a Facebook post published Friday, Craig “Sawman” Sawyer, a former Navy SEAL, sniper, warned of a “gruesome massacre” if President Trump is removed from office by any less than constitutional means.

“I’m hearing serious rumblings of a hostile, illegal coup against our democratically elected President by seditious, deep-state subversives funded by [George] Soros & other globalists. Very disturbing,” he wrote, adding:

Patriots, this would be nothing less than an act of war against the American people. It would be the removal of our boldest defender & last possibility of maintaining our protective Constitution. Under the boot of globalists, life as we know it, would immediately decline to the model that suits the globalist interest – Marxist/Socialist/Communist. They get complete control, you get zero. Freedom, Gone! Liberty, Gone! This agenda is evil and simply cannot be allowed, at ANY cost.

Like ALL military, law enforcement and government officials, I took an oath to defend our Constitution against ALL enemies, foreign and domestic. By abandoning the rule of law and conducting a coup against the President & policies WE THE PEOPLE elected, they have made themselves enemies of the United States.

After observing that all Americans, regardless of position or political persuasion, have a duty to protect the Constitution, Sawyer minced no words detailing what he believes would happen to those involved in Trump’s removal and he explained why:

They are wrong, the vast majority of the vets, hunters, target shooters and gun collectors in this nation support freedom and don’t want socialism. 15. ‘They BURNED our homeland’ Poland demands €350BILLION from Germany for WW2 war crimes (express, Aug 8, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/838276/Poland-Germany-War-Crimes-billions-report

“GERMANY should pay Poland hundreds of billions of pounds for the damage caused in the Second World War – politicians are demanding.

Relations between Berlin and Warsaw are at boiling point as the EU threatens to mobilise Article 7 against Poland – the so-called nuclear option.

The nation would lose its voting rights if the extraordinary measure is used.

Now, a new row is erupting as Polish MPs call for Germany to pay Poland PLN 1.5 trillion (EUR 350 billion, USD 420 billion) in reparations for invading the country during WWII.

Marek Jakubiak, a deputy for the anti-establishment Kukiz’ 15 grouping, followed similar comments from his conservative peers.

Jakubiak told public broadcaster Polish Radio: “The fact that we are a poor country does not come from the fact that we are idiots. The Germans burned our homeland. We we lost 50 years.

“I do not want a war with the Germans, I do not want bad relations with Germany… The Germans have to pay for the damage done to Poland and then we will talk normally as partners.”

Jaros?aw Kaczy?ski, head of the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party revealed the matter is on his mind at a convention in July.

Several have been injured, some seriosuly, in the incident at Capio Vårdcentral Högdalen.

The medical centre is in the Hogdalen area of Stockholm.

The windows of the hospital have been smashed and pillars demolished as the vehicle smashed into the entrance.

One person has been transferred to Karolinska Hospital via air ambulance.

Emergency services rushed to the scene when the alarm was raised at 1pm local time (noon BST).

Anna Westberg of Stockholm police said at least three were “hurt” but the extent of their injuries is not currently known.

A witness said the driver remains in the car.

Stockholm’s rescue service told SVT that the incident was “not a terrorist act”.

Authorities said they believe it was an elderly woman who hit the wrong pedals.

Tomas Ibstedt, chief officer at Stockholm Police, told the Expressen newspaper: “It’s an older lady who has hit the wrong pedal and drove [at} three people.”

  18. Iraq to hang 27 for IS Camp Speicher massacre (BBC, Aug 8, 2017)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-40866081

“An Iraqi court has sentenced to death 27 men for their involvement in the massacre of up to 1,700 soldiers by so-called Islamic State (IS) in June 2014.

Twenty-five suspects were released because of a lack of evidence.

It is the latest batch of death sentences passed in connection with the killings – 36 men were hanged a year ago for their part in the massacre.

IS filmed the killings, at the former US base of Camp Speicher, near Tikrit, in an early piece of shock propaganda.

Most of the victims are believed to have been young Shia recruits who were based at the camp when Tikrit was overrun by IS.

Photos and videos published by IS at the time showed soldiers being lined up and shot at various locations.

Some bodies were pushed into the River Tigris, while others were buried in mass graves that were found after government forces recaptured the city a year later.

The condemned men have the right to appeal against the sentences.”

  19. Spain finds migrants in funfair lorries in Ceuta enclave (BBC, Aug 8, 2017)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-40861729

“Spanish police have detained 19 North African migrants hiding in fairground lorries after a funfair in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta.

Police with thermal imaging equipment and sniffer dogs found them among bumper cars and a ghost train, waiting to board a ferry to mainland Spain.

Spanish media reports say most of the group were Moroccans, the others Algerian. They included nine children.

Police also clashed with about 1,000 migrants at the Ceuta-Morocco border.

Ceuta and Melilla – both small Spanish territories in North Africa – have become magnets for African migrants hoping to reach Spain.

Most are fleeing poverty and violence in sub-Saharan Africa – but many are not from war zones.
In the latest clash, migrants threw stones and sticks at police who stopped them before they could scale the Ceuta border fence.

It came a day after 187 migrants out of a crowd of about 300 managed to get into Ceuta.”

  25. Brussels bomb fears: Police open fire on car ‘with explosives inside’ in Molenbeek (express, Aug 8, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/838538/Brussels-Belgium-Molenbeek-bomb-explosive-police-car-threat-security

“POLICE shot at a car during a high-speed chase through a Brussels suburb after the driver claimed to have explosives inside.

Several police officers shot at the wheels of the car, reported to be a Citroen Picasso registered in Germany, before the driver was arrested.

Police spokesman Johan Berckmans told local media: “We pulled out the driver, who directly stated that there were explosives on board.”

The security alert took place in the suburb of Molenbeek this afternoon.

The Brussels Public Prosecutor’s Office released a statement confirming the suspect’s arrest at 6pm local time (5pm BST).

Spokeswoman Ine Van Wymersch said:” “The man was driving suspiciously and failed to stop at a traffic light.

“When the police arrested him, he claimed to have explosives so not to take any risk, the army has been called in to check.”

A security perimeter was set up between Rue de Dilbeek and the Gare de l’Ouest, according to Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad.

Staff and customers at a nearby DIY shop, Brico, were not allowed to leave until police secured the scene, while several bus routes were diverted.

    No injuries were reported.

It is unknown whether the incident was terror-related, but Brussels is on high alert following last year’s ISIS attacks in the city.

The horrific attacks, which were co-ordinated by a cell based in Molenbeek, left 32 people dead and more than 300 others injured.

Earlier this summer, Oussama Zariouh, a suspected ISIS sympathiser, tried to launch a suicide bombing at Brussels Central Station.

But the 36-year-old Moroccan national was shot dead by police after his bomb failed to properly detonate on June 21.”

  26. Germany: Interior Minister unveils specialist anti-terror police units at new HQ

German Minister of the Interior, Thomas De Maiziere, and the President of the German Federal Police Board, Dieter Romann, officially opened the new headquarters of the federal police special units in Kreuzberg, in Berlin, on Tuesday.

De Maiziere walked through the new headquarters, talking to officers, before giving a press conference in which he announced the formation of the new GSG9 unit.

SOT, Thomas De Maiziere, German Interior Minister (German): “The security situation in Europe, and in Germany has – as you all well know – changed in the past few years.”

SOT, Thomas De Maiziere, German Interior Minister (German): “This is also, in particular, regarding terror attacks. We have, as the federal government, taken many measures in this legislative period – both in the legal sense and also organisationally. One of these measures was the foundation of the so-called ‘BFE+’ – which is a special, robust operative unit – [created] through the readiness of the police and the federal state. In the framework, they’re prepared to give a strong response to grave terror attacks.”

Australian jihadi ‘Abu Adam’ urges ISIS supporters to join the fight in Philippines

An Australian Islamic State fighter has appeared in a just-released official ISIS propaganda video urging would-be jihadists to travel to the Philippines, where the extremist group is now building a dangerous foothold.

Islamic State has increasingly begun to focus attention and efforts on the recent insurgency in Marawi in the Philippines, as the so-called caliphate continues to shrink in Syria and Iraq.

A man named “Abu Adam al-Australi” wearing combat fatigues sits amongst the rubble of a bombed out building in what is believed to be the Syrian city of Raqqa.

In an Australian accent, speaking woodenly from a rehearsed script, Abu Adam encourages Australians to join Islamic State fighters in the Philippines.

Abu Adam also calls out the Australian government for helping the Philippines army in Marawi, where an occupation has taken root over the last few months and threatens to destabilise the region.

More than 600 people have been killed in the Marawi conflict, including foreign fighters, and the city has been devastated by government air strikes against the militants.

At one point in the video the masthead of The Australian newspaper appears alongside an article declaring RAAF Orion surveillance planes will assist the Philippines military in its fight against ISIS.

If ISIS supporters cannot make the journey to Marawi, Abu Adam called on lone wolves to instead carry out attacks in Australia.

Abu Adam appears in what is the second part of a new video series produced by Islamic State’s media arm, “Inside the Khilafah”.

Yacqub Khayre, the now dead 29-year-old Somali-born Australian responsible for the June Brighton siege in Melbourne, is also mentioned in the film, with associated photography.

At the end of July, Australia and Indonesia co-hosted a six-nation summit to strengthen cooperation between intelligence services to counter extremist threats in Southeast Asia.

There is growing concern that militants are now travelling into the Philippines, which is made up of more than 7000 islands and has incredibly challenging borders to police.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte declared martial law on May 23 following the beginning of a bloody siege of the southern city of Marawi by Islamic State group-aligned militants.

Duterte predicted the Islamic State extremist fighters would be quickly defeated, but they remain entrenched in pockets of the city.

Counter-terror analysts have highlighted how cities in Syria and Iraq were brought under ISIS control in a similar manner.

Last month Australian Attorney General George Brandis described the proximity of the threat in Marawi as “urgent”.

  27. Flint airport attacker’s ‘sole purpose’ was to kill police officers

A document filed in federal court is giving more details on the mindset of the man who attacked an airport police officer at Flint’s Bishop International Airport.

The document was filed in response to a motion by attorneys for Amor Ftouhi. They are asking the court for the contact information of people interviewed as possible witnesses in the case.

In their response to the motion, prosecutors write that after Ftouhi was taken into custody he said in an interview that “he had entered the United State with the sole purpose of killing armed U.S. government employees.”

The government also writes that he considered that his “mission” and that he called himself a “soldier of Allah” and that he subscribes to the ideology of Osama Bin Laden and that he celebrated the September 11th attacks, praising Bin Laden for organizing the attacks on an “enemy of Allah” – the United States.

During the attack at Bishop, Ftouhi yelled “Allah Akbar.”

During his interview, prosecutors say Ftouhi also said his “mission” wasn’t over and that he would kill police officers until he was killed . Prosecutors continue, writing “The defendant also threatened that he would kill the federal agents interviewing him if given the opportunity.”

The response also reveals that Ftouhi also told those agents his purpose in attacking the police officer was so that he could get his gun and kill more police officers.

Ftouhi also told investigators that there would be others coming to harm the U.S., however, he was unable to provide an details.

Ftouhi has been charged with committing an act of violence at an international airport and interfering with airport security personnel in what is being called a terrorism case.

  28. Obama Activist Group Fighting Budget Cuts
Organizing for Action won’t let its founder’s legacy be tarnished.
    August 8, 2017
    Matthew Vadum

Former President Barack Obama’s well-funded army of community organizers is gearing up to protect Obama’s legacy by fighting the Trump administration’s proposed cuts to the federal budget for fiscal 2018.

Organizing for Action (OfA), a 501(c)(4) nonprofit that functions as a kind of shadow government, is well on its way to becoming the dominant force in Democratic Party politics. OfA is spearheading the “resistance” movement attacking President Trump in order to defend the Obama administration’s awful record. Both OfA and George Soros-funded MoveOn.org have been leading the way in packing town hall meetings with unruly protesters. Many protests OfA has organized have turned into riots.

OfA members are “a generation of militant jerks” who “continue to proliferate protests and militate against everything and nothing,” investigative journalist Paul Sperry has written in the New York Post.

But it is a formidable army of “militant jerks.” OfA has more than 30,000 volunteers nationwide. It doesn’t legally have to disclose its donors and is at the head of Obama’s network of left-wing nonprofit groups. OfA claims to be training 25,000 people as organizers.

In the near future, OfA plans to attack the proposed spending reductions in the federal budget for the fiscal year that begins Oct. 1 “with the same state- and district-focused strategy” it recently used to help defeat Obamacare-repeal legislation in Congress, Edward-Isaac Dovere writes at Politico.

  29. She Blamed Islamophobia, Then Her Husband was Arrested for Weapons Smuggling
Another Media Islamophobia victim’s story falls apart.
    August 8, 2017
    Daniel Greenfield

In April, the Los Angeles Times ran an op-ed complaining that Muslims were being singled out in airports. “Does the 4th Amendment apply to Muslim citizens at LAX?” Lubana Adi, its author, fumed.

Adi, a Syrian, told a sob story about visiting her “aged mother” and two brothers who were refugees in Turkey. Then airport security “groped” under her Hijab and demanded that she empty her purse. They wanted to know why she had visited a border city and where all the money she was carrying had gone.

“President Trump’s new security regime wastes yet more of our time and our taxpayer money and shows outright scorn for the spirit of the 4th Amendment,” Adi complained.

The Los Angeles Times felt that the story was so important that it needed to be referenced in future pieces as an example of the abuses that Muslims face in this country.

It was a shocking Islamophobic outrage. But now the Times is telling another story.

This one mentions that a business owner by the name of Rashid Jijakli had been indicted for smuggling military equipment to Jihadis in Syria. Jijakli had smuggled the equipment to Syria through Turkey.

  30. A Diamond In A Dungheap
    The Norwegian government’s token truth-teller.
    August 8, 2017
    Bruce Bawer
    21

Much of the world paid attention in March when the Netherlands held a general election and in May when the French chose a new president. But even in Norway nobody seems all that worked up about the parliamentary elections scheduled to take place here on September 11. One reason may be that when it comes to the most important issue of all, namely you know what, there’s really not much of a choice. As in most of the rest of western Europe, there are several parties vying for seats; but this year there are pretty much only two likely outcomes to the election: a socialist coalition government led by the Labor Party under the execrable Jonas Gahr Støre and a nominally non-socialist coalition government led by the Conservative Party under the useless incumbent Prime Minister, Erna Solberg.

For a voter concerned about the Islamization of Norway, Gahr Støre is, as it happens, the guy who, when a Norwegian newspaper, Magazinet, reprinted the Danish Muhammed cartoons in 2006, came down hardest on that newspaper’s courageous editor, Vebjørn Selbekk, who had to go into hiding because of death threat. Instead of standing up for Selbekk, Gahr Støre, who at the time was Norway’s Foreign Minister, brutalized him, claiming that freedom of speech should be tempered by “a sensitivity to ethnic and religious values” and blaming Selbekk for the burning of the Norwegian embassy in Damascus by Islamic nutbags. Visiting the Palestinian territories that year, Gahr Støre personally apologized for Selbekk and excoriated the Jerusalem Post for reprinting the cartoons, telling its editors that “freedom of expression is there to be exercised with reason.” He even instructed Norwegian ambassadors to reply to foreign critics of Magazinet by crawling shamelessly and agreeing that free speech should have limits. Three years later, Gahr Støre promised to bring down jihad – no, sorry, he promised to bring down “all rhetoric that ties Islam to danger, violence, and terror.”

  31. The Ben Rhodes Ally and Muslim Brotherhood Promoter Defending McMaster
    August 8, 2017
    Daniel Greenfield

One of the central criticisms of McMaster is that his coup is purging Trump allies while keeping Obama holdovers. The man at the center of the holdover controversy is Ben Rhodes.

Rhodes has been compared to Obama’s Goebbels. A malicious smear artist with a talent for gaming the media. And backing Iran’s genocidal push for nuclear capabilities.

There have been multiple accusations made that under McMaster, Ben Rhodes has NSC access, and that those holdovers who report to him, have been protected by McMaster.

  32. The Palestinians’ “Creativity for Hate”

    by Khaled Abu Toameh
    August 8, 2017 at 5:00 am

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/10783/palestinians-creativity-hate

Palestinian teenage girls are facing ridicule and hate for attending a summer camp for coexistence in the US. The camp, which brings Palestinian and Israeli girls together, is organized by Creativity for Peace, an organization in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Since 2003, up to 20 Israeli and Palestinian girls, aged 15 to 17, each year have participated in the Creativity for Peace camp.

Photos of the Israeli and Palestinian girls enjoying their time together have enraged many Palestinians and other Arabs, who took to social media to express their disgust and outrage over the event and hurl abuse at the Palestinian participants.

The angry reactions to the joint Palestinian-Israeli camp in the US should be seen in the context of the Palestinians’ strong opposition to all forms of “normalization” with Israel.

The Palestinian girls who attended the coexistence camp are being accused, among other things, of injuring the feelings of their people by “promoting normalization” with the Israeli “enemy.”

Palestinian activists have waged a long-standing war against any form of “normalization” with Israel. Activists have repeatedly targeted even meetings between Israelis and Palestinians, especially in Ramallah and east Jerusalem, on the pretext that such encounters pave the way for “normalization” with Israel.

  33. Imam Who Called for Annihilation of All Jews Is in Fact Routine

    by Maher Gabra
    August 8, 2017 at 4:00 am

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/10791/california-davis-mosque-antisemitism

On July 21, 2017, Imam Ammar Shahin, in a sermon at Davis Mosque in California, called for the annihilation of all Jewish people. He used a hadith (record of the traditions or sayings of the Prophet Muhammad) that quoted the prophet Mohammed:

“The last hour won’t come before the Muslims would fight the Jews and the Muslims will kill them so Jews would hide behind rocks and trees. Then the rocks and trees would call: Oh Muslim, oh servant of God! There is a Jew behind me, come and kill him, except the “gharqad” tree, it is of Jews’ trees.”

The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) translated what he said, and then some media outlets (mostly conservative) spoke about it. Shireen Qudosi, a Muslim reformer started a petition, which I signed, urging the mosque to fire him.

This was not the first time Shahin was caught on camera saying things like that. On July 14, 2017, he called Jews “the wicked Jews” and asked God to destroy them. He said:

“Oh Allah, destroy them and do not spare their young or their elderly… Oh Allah, turn Jerusalem and Palestine into a graveyard for the Jews.”?blockquote>

In November 2016, Shahin made fun of the American Constitution by comparing it to “Idols that the infidels used to worship, which were made from dates.” He said that, unlike the Quran, democracy is man-made and could be changed: “You are taking democracy, the Constitution, and all these matters that they fool you with… as a sacred religion now?

  35. Russia: Trump Jr. meeting was ‘fleeting and inconsequential’ – lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya

Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya has spoken out about her newfound attention in the US media over a meeting with Donald Trump Jr. in June 2016, in Moscow, on Tuesday.

Veselnitskaya asserted that the meeting was “fleeting and inconsequential” and is unsure why special counsel Robert Mueller seeks to investigate her meeting with the US President’s son, stating that her meeting “was determined by my duties as a lawyer” as she was working on defending a Russian citizen.

She stated that her interview published by the New York Times “changed significantly” in its second edition, claiming it as “manipulation”.

Natalia Veselnitskaya, lawyer (Russian): “I don’t know what exactly Mr. Mueller is going to investigate regarding my meeting with his president’s son, I can only say what I know – that my meeting was determined by my duties as a lawyer. I was defending a Russian citizen in the United States of America. If it turns out that defending a Russian citizen in the U.S. is a crime – in that case, there is a subject for Mr. Mueller’s investigation.”

Natalia Veselnitskaya, lawyer (Russian): “You see, it’s interesting how the U.S. media machine works. The New York Times sent me a request with the list of questions on the 8th of July. I was very surprised by these questions – they were focused on my meeting with Mr. Trump. At first, I couldn’t even remember when exactly that meeting happened – it was so fleeting and inconsequential. So I couldn’t even remember when and where it took place. But here’s what’s interesting – after receiving a quite detailed response from me, The New York Times published only a short part they needed. Today, this article has changed significantly – if you open the first story they had on this matter, and compare it to the original version they published on the 8th – you will see how dramatic the difference is. I understand that the whole story surrounding my meeting with Trump Jr. has been manipulated. By whom? I see only one answer to this question. If you find the motive, you’ll find the explanation. We got so close to the truth behind the Magnitski act, who was pushing it – and why – for years. We found out so much about what was happening in Russia between 1996 and 2006, we found out so much about the real cases of embezzlement of Russia’s budget. And considering that I publicly challenged Mr. Browder, the man behind this story, I think that it’s all orchestrated by him and his team.”

  36. Sweden: Three injured as far-right extremists attack Afghans protesting against deportation

Three people were injured in Stockholm, Tuesday, as far-right assailants attacked a peaceful sit-down protest by Afghan refugees demonstrating against deportation back to their country of origin.

The demonstration was taking place at central Mynttorget square when a group of around 15 people, reportedly affiliated with the extreme far-right Nordic Resistance Movement (NRM), attacked the refugees, allegedly throwing smoke bombs at the protesters.

A police patrol car was in the area as the attacks took place and the police forces were able to disperse the violence quickly, according to a police spokesperson on the ground.
