Sweden’s population grew by around 144,000 people in 2016 or a total increase of around 1.5 per cent. The increase makes Sweden only behind the small country of Luxembourg in terms of population growth, with the Nordic country adding 14.5 new people per thousand residents, according to figures published by the EU statistics agency Eurostat.
In terms of birthrates, while the country is tied with the UK for second place behind Ireland, the net growth of births minus deaths increased the population by only 2.7 people per thousand. The statistics mean that the population could have only increased in total numbers by mass migration rather than an increase in births.
The average for all European countries was a population growth of 3 people per thousand or a total increase of 1.5 million people. Many countries like Italy, Hungary, Croatia, and Lithuania saw a decrease in their populations — Lithuania’s population shrank by almost 1.5 per cent in 2016.
The effects of mass migration to Sweden are, however, causing problems. The country is facing a massive shortage of housing due to the growth in population and other government services have become strained.
Crime rates have also been rising in recent years and many have long suspected that migrants make up a disproportionate number of criminal suspects, however official police figures are not released. Earlier in the year, police officer Peter Springare said the vast majority of cases he dealt with involved suspects who came from migrant backgrounds.
Much of the violence in Swedish cities like Malmo, or Stockholm’s various no-go suburbs like Rinkeby, is related to criminal gangs. A recent report showed that in the Swedish capital, migrants accounted for 40.6 per cent of gang members, while 82.2 per cent had two foreign-born parents and 94.5 per cent had at least one foreign-born parent.
Sex assaults have also risen in Sweden including gang rape which was once rare. An independent research team used Swedish court documents to figure out that in gang rape cases men of foreign backgrounds accounted for around nine out of ten gang rape incidents.
Since 2015, Sweden has slowed the arrival of new asylum seekers; but the country still expects around 34,700 asylum seekers in 2017, according to the Swedish migrant agency, though the number could be as high as 45,000.”

“The EU-led Operation Sophia in the Mediterranean Sea has failed, the UK House of Lords’ committee has found. The mission has only led to soaring of illegal migrant flows to Europe and “tragic increase in deaths” at sea.
Operation Sophia, launched in 2015 by the EU as a means to stop human smuggling in the Southern Central Mediterranean and “prevent the further loss of life at sea” failed to achieve its goal, according to the UK House of Lords’ EU Committee report published on Wednesday.
The committee found that the migrant flows have only increased since the beginning of the operation, with a spike by 19 percent in the first half of this year compared to 2016.
“Irregular migration into Europe on the central Mediterranean route increased by 18 percent in 2016, and by another 19 percent in the first six months of 2017 compared to 2016,” the report says.
The committee further stated that “a naval mission is the wrong tool to tackle irregular migration” as the latter starts onshore. The report says that “once the boats have set sail, it is too late to undermine the business of people smuggling.”
The destruction of vessels, which was one of the mission’s tasks, led to “an unintended consequence” – the smugglers started to send those willing to reach European coast aboard “unseaworthy vessels.” This has only increased the risk for migrants, as “70 percent of all boats leaving the Libyan coast contributes to making journeys increasingly dangerous,” leading to “a tragic increase in deaths,” which is 2,150 as of 2 July.
In 2016 alone, the number of recorded deaths at sea reached 4,581, which is almost twice as many as in 2015.
The lawmakers said that “supporting economic development and good governance” across Sub-Saharan Africa is the only way to tackle mass migration in the long term.
Humanitarian efforts, including “using more suitable vessels than the high-end air and naval assets of Operation Sophia,” are still necessary, according to the report. Operation Sophia is currently on its second phase of the total of four stages, which envisages “boarding, search, seizure and diversion of smugglers’ vessels,” as well as training of the Libyan coastguards and navy…”

It amends an existing law regulating mass organizations, allowing the government to sidestep a potentially lengthy court process to implement a ban. It is likely that Hizbut Tahrir, a group that campaigns for Indonesia to adopt Shariah law and become a caliphate, is among the targets of the decree after the government announced in May that it planned to ban the group.
Wiranto, the coordinating minister for politics, security and law, said the decree is aimed at protecting the unity and existence of Indonesia as a nation and not at discrediting Islamic groups. Wiranto, who uses one name, said the decree was signed by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Monday.
New York-based Human Rights Watch condemned the move, calling it a “troubling violation” of the rights to freedom of association and expression despite it being supported by moderate groups such as Nahdlatul Ulama, Indonesia’s largest Muslim organization.
Indonesia researcher for Human Rights Watch, Andreas Harsono, said the government already has the power to take legal action against any group suspected of violating the law.
“Banning any organization strictly on ideological grounds … is a draconian action that undermines rights of freedom of association and expression that Indonesians have fought hard to establish since the Suharto dictatorship,” Harsono said.
Hizbut Tahrir, along with groups such as the violent Islamic Defenders Front, was behind months of massive protests in Jakarta, the capital, against the city’s minority Christian governor, an ally of Jokowi who was accused of blaspheming Islam. He subsequently lost a bid for re-election to a Muslim candidate and was imprisoned for two years for blasphemy despite prosecutors downgrading the charge to a lesser offense.
Hizbut, a global organization, is estimated to have tens of thousands of members in Indonesia.
Ismail Yusanto, a spokesman for the group in Indonesia, said it plans to seek a judicial review of the decree in the Constitutional Court.

“Four Boko Haram suicide bombers killed 19 people in a series of attacks that targeted a civilian self-defense force and the people who gathered to mourn their deaths, police in Nigeria said Wednesday. It was the deadliest attack in months in the northeastern city of Maiduguri, the birthplace of Boko Haram’s eight-year insurgency.
Borno state police commissioner Damian Chukwu said 23 others were wounded in Tuesday night’s attacks. The police commissioner said 12 of the dead were members of a civilian self-defense force and the other seven people had been mourning them.
At least one of the suicide bombers was female, said a spokesman for the self-defense force, Danbatta Bello. The bombers specifically targeted his colleagues while they were on duty, he said.

Writer claims Chelsea Clinton stole book idea
Chelsea Clinton ripped off an upstate author when she published her best-selling feminist kids book, “She Persisted,” a federal lawsuit claims.
Christopher Janes Kimberley, 56, of Albany, is suing the former first daughter and Penguin Random House for copyright infringement, seeking up to $150,000, according to the lawsuit, filed Thursday in Southern District of New York court.
“I did months of painstaking research on my book. Her version looks like a ninth-grade homework assignment,” he vented to The Post. “I am in disbelief.”

U.S. Carrier Group Leads Largest Yet Naval Drills with India and Japan
The U.S., Japan, and India are conducting naval exercises in the Bay of Bengal, which is the largest in the region in more than 20 years.
The week long event began Monday, and focuses on anti-submarine warfare.
The U.S. and India launched the annual exercise in 1992 with Japan joining in 2015.
This year 16 ships, two submarines, and more than 95 aircraft are participating in the drills that are taking place both on-shore and at sea.
While reports claim the heightened exercise comes amid concerns over China’s growing presence in the Indian and South China Sea, U.S. officials say otherwise.
China has condemned the exercises, saying they are destabilizing to the region.
India turned down Australia’s request to join the event this year over worries it would anger China even further.

Twitter introduced new tools Monday that essentially silence certain users by muting particular notifications.

Israel is planning to establish a Syrian army on the border with the Golan Heights and Jordan to stop Iranian expansion, according to informed Israeli sources.

How Long Will the Southern Syria Ceasefire Last?
Southern Syria has been a relatively quiet front of the civil war since 2015. Free Syrian Army (FSA) fighters make up a majority among the rebels.
In the wake of the ceasefire in southern Syria, the rebels will likely launch another offensive against Jaysh Khalid ibn al-Walid, the local Islamic State (ISIS) affiliate, which controls the western Daraa countryside.
The Syrian regime will probably exploit the ceasefire to move much-needed troops to other fronts as it races to capture as much territory as possible from ISIS in eastern Syria.
This ceasefire, like previous ones in Syria, is unlikely to hold and the Assad regime will not be punished for violating the deal.
The regime and its allies Iran and Hizbullah see strategic and symbolic importance in controlling areas along the border fence with Israel on the Golan Heights.

These articles give us a lot to think about. Given the number of Iranian allies in Syria Israel has no choice but to build a proxy army, either t hat or go head to head with Iran and that will be an expensive and several years long war. Wars like that between two nuclear armed foes are going to be touchy. The numbers say that Israel has to build an Army to be their ally, after a certain point numbers can over whelm quality and most of the Iranian proxy’s consist of combat experienced personal. Blooded troops are harder to defeat the green troops that have never seen combat. I wish them a lot of luck because they are going to need all of the skill and luck they can get in the next couple of years to decades.
Facts about Israel you seldom hear about:
• Nobody needs nukes for Israel.
Too small. It’s pure evil on Iran’s part – As they say: Israel’s a one, small-bomb country. Any warfare has to take place on somebody else’s territory or it’s over.
• “Years of war” – Nope, again. Israel can’t sustain conflict other than a skirmish for more than a couple months. The drip-drip is bad enough: Every other day people are injured by mad-dogs, and every six weeks someone succumbs to attacks.
• Do you have any idea how TINY the country is?
• There’s no ‘throw-away’ population. Every single life is a big deal. A “major war” is over 1000 dead.
• Israelis have few degrees of separation from each other. I personally am few degrees from almost everyone everywhere.
There are a lot of badly wounded people, though. They’d surely be dead elsewhere. Many, many severely disabled citizens.

As to the size of Isreal and nukes, one decden sized bomb with the right casing (one that provides a large amount of fallout) exploded in the right spot with the right weather conditions will make all of Israel radioactive for many years. Iran knows this, their nuclear arsenal is for the Sunni capitals that resist, Europe, the US and Russia if/when they try to stop Iran from using their nukes. Israels nuclear deterrent is useful for a revenge strike and to stop people who don’t want a revenge strike hitting their country.

Donald Trump Jr. fought back yesterday against the increasingly desperate shrieking from the tinfoil-hat Left by publishing online the emails that led to his innocuous campaign-season meeting a year ago with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya.
By releasing the chain of emails leading to the much ballyhooed but brief get-together at the Trump Tower in Manhattan, Donald Jr. is hoping to dispel any notion that the Trump campaign somehow colluded with the Russian government to affect the outcome of the November 2016 election. (I wrote about the Trump Jr. meeting story yesterday here at FrontPage before the emails became available.)
The emails do not indicate any knowledge of Russian government wrongdoing, such as hacking, or Trump campaign involvement in such activities. Yet the mainstream media is going berserk, hyping the overheated ravings of leftist idiots like Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) whose disastrous performance in the vice presidential debate against Republican Mike Pence may have helped to sink the Democrat ticket last year.

It’s ironic that this comes just after Jewish attendees were booted from the Dyke March because a Jewish symbol was deemed triggering to supporters of Islamic nationalism.

Last month ACT for America organized 28 anti-Sharia rallies across the United States, one in Roseville, California, near the state capital of Sacramento. ACT described the demonstration as “against Sharia law and for human rights.” According to their statement:
“We, at ACT for America, are committed to protecting women and children from Sharia Law and its impact on Muslim women and children including honor killing and Female Genital Mutilation. We must ensure that every woman and child enjoy the protection afforded by the U.S. Constitution.” Sharia law is “incompatible with Western democracy” and the rally contended that those who practice Sharia law cannot assimilate into American culture.
Protestors from ANSWER, the Act Now to Stop War and End Racism coalition, included organizer Jamier Sale. As he told reporters, “We’re here because this anti-sharia march sounds more like a march against Muslims.” The event was peaceful and prompted a dialogue of sorts.

GERMANY – Museum guard among four arrested over stolen €1 million gold coin in Berlin
Update: Four men were arrested on Wednesday, including one museum security guard, accused of stealing a museum’s 100-kilo coin, worth nearly €1 million.
Police on Wednesday arrested four suspects aged between 18 and 20 over the theft of the valuable coin, snatched from Berlin’s Bode Museum on Museum Island in late March.
Investigators believe the thieves wanted to melt down the giant “Big Maple Leaf” commemorative coin – issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2007- in order to make it into smaller portions of gold. The coin features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, and the museum gave the face value of the coin at €920,000, though the market price of 100 kg of gold is around €3.7 million.
According to Berlin-based newspaper Tagesspiegel, one of the men arrested was working as a security guard at the museum, and only started in March. He was also already known to police for license plate theft and not paying for car petrol.
Berlin police say they believe the massive coin was likely sold off, perhaps in pieces.
“We are assuming that the coin was in part or in whole sold off,” said criminal investigator Carsten Pfohl.
“I unfortunately have relatively little hope that we will find the coin, even in pieces.”
Pfohl added that they could still find traces of the gold rubbing off on things like clothes and cars.
Public prosecutor Martina Lamb said that the crime appeared to be the work of an organized gang, and that the suspects come from a known crime family. Investigators are also looking into nine other people connected to the family.
Tagesspiegel reports that the members of the family have been implicated in other crimes in the past, including dealing stolen jewellery, and stealing non-ferrous metal.
Special police forces raided and searched several apartments in the Neukölln district on Wednesday morning, and also seized a car. Tagesspiegel reports that police also searched an Arabic jewellery shop, and amid searches seized four guns as well as a lump sum of money in the six figure-range.
Surveillance video released earlier this month shows three people dressed in black, covering their faces as they walk along the platform of the Hackescher Markt S-Bahn station in central Berlin.
Police said that two of those arrested could be seen in the video, and neither of them had prior convictions.

Iran Flexes Its Missile Muscles

The Iraqi legislature has approved the PMF’s nominal incorporation into the Iraqi army, even as Iraqi government officials acknowledge that 30% of the PMF are under Iranian government control. Once the fight with Islamic State ends, what will happen to these militias?
There’s already a hint of how the future of the PMF will play out. Like Hizballah, some units are fighting at Iran’s behest in Syria on behalf of Assad. Iraqi leaders, as their Lebanese counterparts once did, are fretting about the future of Iran’s proxies. The Iraqis rightly see the militias as instrumental in the counter-IS battle, and also rightly judge them a danger when that fight is done. . . .
That is why more must be done soon to ensure that the Iraqi leadership understands, as the Lebanese government does not, that the continued existence of Iranian proxy forces within and working alongside its military is incompatible with long-term assistance from the United States.
Congress can predicate assistance and weapons transfers on clear assurances that Iran and its proxies are not indirect beneficiaries. If it does not, Iraq, like Lebanon before it and others to come, will become yet another pawn in Iran’s Middle East game.

Deutsche Welle – GERMANY – Alleged teen terrorist in state care mentored by Salafist
A boy who had planned an attack on a Christmas market was looked after by an Islamist extremist for weeks. The blunder by a local youth care agency is likely to severely impact his de-radicalization.
In December 2016, the then-12-year-old German-Iraqi is said to have filled jars with fireworks powder, taped nails to them and placed them close to the town hall and on the Christmas market in the southern-German city of Ludwigshafen. Fortunately, the home-made explosives didn’t detonate. The boy was caught and put into a closed facility at an undisclosed location, where he is receiving intensive psychological treatment.
On Tuesday, journalists with the TV magazine “Report Mainz” reported that one of the people looking after the boy is believed to be an adherent of the Salafist ideology. Salafism is an ultra-conservative and often violent branch of Islam.
In other words: One of the psychologists in charge of de-radicalizing the young aggressor is an extremist himself.
The youth and integration ministry of Rhineland-Palatinate, the boy’s home state, confirmed in a statement to “Report Mainz” that a background check on the caregiver led authorities to suspect that he “could be close to Islamist circles.”
Six weeks with a Salafist
A spokeswoman for the city of Ludwigshafen explained in a statement to DW on Tuesday that an independent agency is in charge of the boy’s care. The authorities at this agency were the ones who hired the employees to take care of the now-13-year-old after regular police background checks. On March 3, 2017, the psychologist in question began to work with the boy.
A few weeks later, he agreed to a voluntary, more thorough background check, which was set in motion on April 19. It is unclear why he was allowed to take care of the boy before this measure was completed. On May 19, the city was informed that the man had participated in a now-illegal Quran distribution initiative, shared Islamist videos on Facebook and worked security at rallies of German Salafist preachers.
“The caregiver was immediately removed from the case,” Ludwigshafen’s spokeswoman stated. “He was one of several employees, who work [with the boy] in shifts. He was not the boy’s primary caregiver.”
Prioritizing prevention
Susanne Schröter, director of the Frankfurt Research Center on Global Islam, says the slip-up is still likely to have dramatic consequences for the boy’s social reintegration process.
“He must have felt basically validated in his extremist mindset” by having a Salafist mentor, Schröter told DW. “That means that the efforts to de-radicalize him now have to start from scratch again.”
It is a disappointing setback in a process that is protracted and difficult to begin with. 🙂 🙂 🙂 Trying to re-socialize a young person so enamored with radical Islamist ideals that he was ready to bomb a Christmas market requires patience and resilience. Educating youth before they fall for extremist ideologies is much simpler, according to Schröter

“The focus has to be on prevention,” she said. “Success in de-radicalization doesn’t come easy. You have to be able to deal with many disappointments.”
IS targets children
While 12 years is the youngest age of any Islamist attackers who have been arrested in Germany, Susanne Schröter points out that there have been several attacks by teens in recent years. “Islamic State” (IS) supporter Safia S. was 15 years old when she stabbed a police man in the throat at the Hanover train station in February 2016. Just two months later, two 16-year-old boys with Turkish roots planted explosives at a Sikh temple in Essen – another attack motivated by violent IS ideals.
“The IS is currently running a massive campaign to recruit extremely young people,” Schröter said. “There are many IS Youtube videos in which 8-year-olds or 9-year-olds are already seen killing prisoners. They are clearly instrumentalizing children.”

What’s behind Iran’s attack on Kurdish positions in northern Iraq earlier this month and how does it affect the U.S.?
In early July, Iranian artillery pounded Kurdish military forces in Iraqi Kurdistan’s Haji Omaran region, causing hundreds of civilians to flee their homes, according to local officials.
“The Republic of Iran’s justification for the attack is the presence of Iranian Kurdish rebels in the border region with Iraq,” said Farzang Ahmad, the administrator of the region, speaking to Voice of America.
Iran has a history of bombing Kurdish areas in Iraq to send a message to the Kurdish Iranian militia groups, who represent many of Iran’s close to 10-million Kurds who live in the border region with Iraq and seek independence.

Phoenix PD Bans Officers from Asking About Immigration Status, Calling Feds in Violation of State Law
Police officials in Arizona’s largest city have quietly implemented a new policy banning officers from contacting the feds after arresting an illegal alien and forbidding them from asking about immigration status, in violation of key provisions of a state law upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court. Judicial Watch obtained a copy of the Phoenix Police Department’s new sanctuary Immigration Procedures, which also replace the term “illegal alien” with “a person unlawfully present.” It appears to be part of a broader scheme to dodge federal immigration laws in Arizona’s most populous county.
Earlier this year Judicial Watch reported that the newly elected sheriff in Maricopa County, which includes Phoenix, was releasing an average of 400 criminal illegal immigrants every 10 days. Many of them were violent offenders, but the sheriff, Paul Penzone, released them from Maricopa County Jail facilities, to protect them from deportation. The illegal aliens had state criminal charges ranging from misdemeanors to felonies, driving under the influence and drug offenses. “There’s no telling how many criminals he’s (Sheriff Penzone) putting on the streets,” a high-ranking federal law enforcement official stationed in Arizona told Judicial Watch. Under a longtime partnership between the county and the feds, the Phoenix field office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was notified when “aliens unlawfully present with additional Arizona charges” were released from the Maricopa County Jail, which is one of the nation’s largest with a population of about 8,000. That ended when Penzone, who refers to illegal immigrants as “guests,” took office this year.
