“A U.S.-backed Syrian Kurdish militia says two American volunteers were killed fighting the Islamic State group in northern Syria last week.
The People’s Protection Units, also known by their Kurdish initials as the YPG, announced Tuesday that 29-year-old Nicolas Alan Warden of Buffalo, New York, died in battle on July 5 in Raqqa, IS’ de-facto capital.
The YPG says 28-year-old Robert Grodt from California, was killed on July 6 in the same battle.
The U.S. military has developed a close relationship with the YPG and its parent coalition, the Syrian Democratic Forces, in the war against IS.
The two men were not members of the U.S. special forces embedded with the Syrian coalition.
U.S.-backed forces have conquered a third of Raqqa since launching the push on the city last month.”

“ILLEGAL immigrants can easily slip into the United Kingdom unchallenged as there are no checks at nearly half of the small ports in the east of England, a report has revealed.
The Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration David Bolt has exposed the lack of checks in an explosive report published today.
It revealed that officials failed to carry out checks at 27 of the 62 small ports along the east coast between February 2015 and June last year.
The report said that the lack of checks meant that there is no “visible deterrent” for people trying to smuggle illegal immigrants and illicit goods into the UK.
It also revealed that the number of illegal immigrants caught near major ports nearly doubled between 2014-15 and 2015-16, rising from 233 to 423.
The 52-page report reads: “The lack of any visible Border Force presence for over a year at almost half of the identified small ports raises questions about how captains who are minded not to comply with the requirements of the Immigration Act, or to engage in criminality (eg. the smuggling of people and goods), view the risk of being caught.”
It continued: “[A] consequence of long periods of non-attendance by Border Force at particular locations is that there is no visible deterrent to anyone prepared to risk using these spots to land illegal migrants or contraband goods, or simply not to comply with legislation such as the Immigration Act 1971.”…”
Hungary: Budapest residents rip down billboards targeting billionaire Soros
Budapest residents ripped down government billboards which had been newly painted across the capital as part of a campaign against Hungarian-born Jewish billionaire George Soros, Wednesday.
Gyorgy Kober, Vice President of opposition party Egyutt stated that the government has stepped up “to the next level” with this campaign. “This is pure lying, pure hate, pure instigation”, Kober said.
Protesters decried the poster campaign as “full of lies” and as something that “litters the country.” One activist, Judit Dallos added, “These billboards are very expensive, we should spend the five billion forints (€16.3 million, $18.6 million) on more important things.”

I suppose Donald Trump’s run and win for President of the United States has encouraged other stars to do the same. Trump was a bit of an exception, in my opinion, because he is a businessman and knows how to run a business. America needed to be run like a business in order to get us back on track, or “Make America Great Again!” Trump is just the swift kick in the but that our country needed.

I have returned! From Europe that is, and I hope I met with no Russian undercover agents while there. The soi-disant Liberals are in a snit about the Russians. Apparently, Donald Trump Jr. and the mysterious Jared Kushner met with an undercover agent of the Kremlin in June of last year, and they did not report their meeting to The Powers That Be. Who are The Powers That Be? Actually, I have no idea, but Trump and Kushner should have reported their exchange, which had something to do with adoption or adaption or possibly Hillary’s unwashed socks. You figure it out.
The stalwarts of American left (we no longer call them Liberals — it is inappropriate) are in another of their tense moments with the Trumps, and, of course, it has something to do with the Trumps and the Russians. The left has developed an irrational fear of the Russians, about whom they are positively obsessive. I am not sure why this is. Perhaps it is because today the Russians are no longer communists, and the erstwhile Liberals had long admired certain aspects of the communist system. As I recall, they admired the Marxist-Leninist tax code, and its attendant slow-growth economy. Remember their great economists such as John Kenneth Galbraith and Lester Thurow, oohing and aahing over how prosperous Russia was in the 1980s, just before the crash of communism?

“The prime minister of Libya’s national unity government, Fayez al-Sarraj, has requested the the “use of aviation” by the country’s armed forces against “illegal emigration”, in a statement from the country’s “Office of the Supreme Command of the Libyan Army to the Chief of Staff of the Air Force”, obtained by ANSA.
The brief text states: “You are asked to immediately and urgently take up participation measures in the fight against illegal emigration and the trafficking of fuel and its derivatives through the use of Aviation and using force where necessary to impede, in cooperation with Navy Command, these crimes”.
In addition to his role as prime minister, Sarraj also serves as chief commander of the militias that make up a “Libyan army” opposed to the one commanded by General Khalifa Haftar.(ANSAmed).”

France: Melenchon attends rally against Macron’s proposed labour reforms
Deputy for La France Insoumise and former French presidential candidate Jean-Luc Melenchon spoke to a rally in Paris, on Wednesday, against proposed reforms to the nation’s labour laws.
Adressing the crowd, Melenchon said, “The labour law, that is to say, the particular rights which have been acquired by wage-earners over the course of a century of struggle, all this is being called into question.”
Over the course of his presidential election campaign, Macron had voiced his intention to use executive decrees of overhaul the French labour laws, which unions anticipate would negatively impact them.

“Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday ruled out an immediate end to the year-old state of emergency imposed after a failed coup, saying it could only be lifted once the fight against terrorism was finished.
Earlier on Wednesday Turkish authorities detained 14 army officers and issued warrants for the detention of 51 people, including 34 former employees of state broadcaster TRT, for suspected links to the coup, local media reported.
“There can be no question of lifting emergency rule with all this happening,” Erdogan said in a speech to investors in Ankara. “We will lift the emergency rule only when we no longer need to fight against terrorism. Lifting the emergency rule can be possible in the not-too-distant future.”
He did not give a more specific time frame.
Ankara imposed the state of emergency soon after the coup attempt last July, when a group of rogue soldiers commandeered tanks, helicopters and warplanes and attacked parliament in a bid to overthrow the government, killing more than 240 people.
Since then, some 150,000 people have been sacked or suspended from the army, civil service and private sector and more than 50,000 detained for alleged links to the coup.
Emergency rule allows the president and cabinet to bypass parliament in passing new laws and to limit or suspend rights and freedoms as they deem necessary.
Critics say Erdogan is using the measures to quash dissent, while the government says they are necessary because of the gravity of the security threats Turkey faces.
Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said on Wednesday that the purges in the military were probably coming to an end.
Some 7,655 military personnel – including 150 generals and admirals and 4,287 officers – have been dismissed since the coup.
“The military purge has been largely completed by the dismissal of soldiers across all ranks. This struggle will continue until the last FETO member has paid the price for their treason,” Yildirim told the same conference in Ankara.
FETO is the term the government uses for the network of the U.S.-based Islamic cleric Fethullah Gulen it blames for the coup. Gulen, who has lived in self-imposed exile in the United States since 1999, has denied playing any role in the coup.
Separately, police killed five Islamic State militants in a dawn raid on a house in the central city of Konya on Wednesday, the local governor’s office said, adding that four police officers were slightly wounded.
There were suspicions that those killed may have been planning to target events being held this week to commemorate the first anniversary of the coup, according to the private Dogan news agency.
It said 22 suspected Islamic State members, also suspected of preparing attacks on coup anniversary events, were detained in an operation in the western coastal province of Izmir.
Turkish security forces are also battling militants of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which has waged a three-decade insurgency against the state in which more than 40,000 people have been killed.”
