“A man has been charged with a terror offence after plotting to attack French president Emmanuel Macron at a Bastille Day parade.
The 23-year-old is reported to have declared himself a “nationalist” and wrote on an internet chatroom he wished to buy a Kalashnikov-type weapon to carry out a “political act”.
He was arrested in the Argenteuil suburb of Paris and taken into custody on Thursday, where he told police of his plans to harm Mr Macron and “Muslims, Jews, blacks, homosexuals” at a 14 July celebration in the French capital.
The man, said to be unemployed and influenced by far-right ideology, was given preliminary charges of individual terrorist activity on Saturday.
A spokeswoman for the Paris prosecutor’s office said on Monday the suspect’s plans were vague and not yet finalised, while he appeared to be acting alone.
According to RMC Radio, it was the man’s comments on a website linked to a video game – in which he revealed his search for a powerful assault rifle – that alerted police to his planned attack.
He is alleged to have threatened police with a kitchen knife as he was arrested.
According to the report, he has previously been convicted for condoning terrorism.
The French president is due to attend the annual military parade along the Champs-Elysees and Arc de Triomphe in Paris on Bastille Day together with US President Donald Trump.

“The American media dilute the facts and fan conspiracy theories by spreading allegations that Russia interfered in the US presidential election, a senior state election official has said, adding the voting system is near-impossible to manipulate externally.
The media frenzy surrounding alleged “Russian meddling” in the 2016 US election suggests that reporters are often doctoring or neglecting hard facts for the sake of good storylines, Brian Kemp, Georgia’s secretary of state, argued in an opinion piece for USA Today.
“As reporters chase stories to feed the 24-hour news cycle, they dilute facts and develop false narratives about Russian hacking and potential vulnerabilities in the system,” he said. “The prevailing plot line is that states like Georgia can’t provide suitable security for elections.”
Kemp, who serves as the state’s chief election official in charge of voting procedures, said “non-partisan experts agree that manipulating a presidential election makes a good TV storyline but lacks real-world standing.”
The mainstream media pushing the Russia line in their coverage have simply no clue about safety measures installed to ensure protection of the election system, the official noted.
He described the state voting systems as “diverse, highly scrutinized and not connected to the internet.” Consequently, any computer network attacks on voter registration do not affect the vote count. “The thing that matters most – your vote – is secure,” Kemp stressed.
His dissenting opinion was voiced days after activists from investigative outlet Project Veritas released hidden camera footage showing a CNN producer who admitted that the media corporation’s anti-Russian coverage has much to do with “incredible ratings.”
“It’s mostly bullsh*t right now. Like, we don’t have any big giant proof,” John Bonifield, a CNN producer, said in the video. Asked why CNN is obsessed with Russia-related stories, Bonifield responded, “Because it’s ratings.”
“Our CIA is doing sh*t all the time, we’re out there trying to manipulate governments,” he said. “I think the president is probably right to say, like, ‘look, you are witch-hunting me,’” Bonifield said.
In his opinion piece, Kemp said “misinformation from the media or disgruntled partisans not only fuels conspiracy theorists but also erodes the first safeguard we have in our elections — the public’s trust.”
Inaccurate reporting is “a disservice to the American people” as it fails to respect the electoral system’s reliability, the senior official added.
“To be candid, the most plausible and potentially effective attack on our elections is not by hacking the vote — it is through the manipulation of the American media machine,” he continued. These “baseless attacks and inaccurate stories enhance voter apathy and erode our confidence in the cornerstone of our democracy,” Kemp concluded.
Ongoing accusations that Russia played a role in US President Donald Trump’s campaign have plagued his presidency, along with allegations that the hack on the Democratic National Committee which leaked emails from Hillary Clinton’s staff was ordered directly by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Moscow has consistently dismissed the accusations as baseless. Earlier, speaking to renowned US filmmaker Oliver Stone, Putin said the US itself has a long record of interference in Russia’s domestic affairs.
“[They did it] in 2000, and in 2012, this always happened. But especially aggressively in 2012. I will not go into details,” Putin said, adding that all of the other post-Soviet countries have also been subject to US meddling. “They gathered opposition forces and financed them, went to opposition rallies,” the Russian leader said.”

Never in my entire lifetime have I seen such a blatant attempt by the media to swing a presidential election. Aside from Hillary’s political career being derailed, the chief benefit of this collusion against American voters was having the media so thoroughly discredit itself.
Regardless of what Trump is or isn’t able to achieve during his presidency, having mass media drop any and all pretense of impartiality has been a priceless gift to the US electorate. It is tolling a death knell for corporate-controlled news outlets, be they printed, televised or electronic.

As I noted in my previous comment, there has begun a significant migration of the viewing public away from mass media and over to independent news sources.
Personally, even if this transition includes people accepting non-traditional über-Liberal outlets, I believe that it’s better than having them staying hooked up to the slow drip-feed of MSM poison.
Whoever has the strength of character to seek out any sort of alternative media (especially online reporting) is far more likely to cross over to less-biased content than anyone that remains addicted to network (especially television) news.
Not much in the way of consolation, but it’s a helluva lot better than America’s electorate nestling in their BarcaLoungers and reflexively voting the partisan ticket.

There will be witnesses and local people who are briefed for their two minute talk with the journalists to convey exactly what the military wants them to convey. After enjoying local flair, for ten minutes max, some U.S. diplomatic official or a general will treat the journos to some good whiskey and a genuine local steak. The official will speak a few prepared lines on the record that will reinforce the story the locals were tasked to tell.
The outcome is predictable. The stories the journalists will write will be the same.

“France, Germany and the European Union pledged more money Monday for Libya’s coast guard and more support for Italy to cope with a surge of migrant arrivals from Africa.
The U.N. refugee agency, meanwhile, reported that more and more people lured to Libya with the hope of finding jobs there end up trying to reach Europe.
The intensified European effort comes after the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, on Saturday decried an “unfolding tragedy” in Italy over the weekend with 12,600 migrants and refugees pouring onto its shores. Grandi noted that more than 2,000 people have lost their lives on the Libya-to-Italy sea route this year.
Officials appeared to be bracing for prospects of an accelerated flow of migrants as the Mediterranean weather warms, making often-perilous maritime journeys more attractive.
“We are only at the beginning of the summer, and without swift collective action, we can only expect more tragedies at sea,” Grandi, who is Italian, said in a statement. Like many others in his office in recent months, Grandi repeated calls for an “urgent distribution system” for incoming migrants and refugees, and “additional legal pathways to admission.”
On Monday, the EU migration commissioner and the German, French and Italian interior ministers promised extra money and training for the Libyan coast guard and efforts to reinforce Libya’s largely lawless southern border that people smugglers exploit. No further details, including how much more money was pledged, were immediately provided.
The officials held a crisis meeting in Paris on Sunday after Italy pleaded for European help amid the surge.
Grandi’s office said Monday that people smuggling and migrant flows in Libya were on the rise, and predicted Europe could face a greater influx in the future. UNHCR said patterns of movement through Libya have been changing, as organized crime rings have become internationalized and “trafficking for sexual exploitation” appears to be increasing.
A UNHCR-commissioned report released Monday found “about half of people who travel to Libya do so believing they can find jobs there, but end up fleeing onwards to Europe to escape life-threatening insecurity, instability, difficult economic conditions plus widespread exploitation and abuse,” a news release said.
UNHCR says 84,830 migrants and refugees have reached Italy’s shores so far this year from Libya, a 19-percent increase from a year earlier. Seven in 10 are economic migrants and the rest are “people in need of protection” like refugees and asylum-seekers.
Vincent Cochetel, UNHCR special envoy for the Central Mediterranean, told reporters in Geneva that the agency’s teams have indicated “no slowing down on movement to Libya, which may mean that a larger number of people may continue to try to leave through the Central Mediterranean route.”
Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni’s center-left government has stepped up pressure on fellow EU nations to convince them to take in some of the hundreds of thousands of migrants rescued in the Mediterranean and brought to Italy in recent years.
Gentiloni said Monday that unless other EU countries assume some of the migrant crisis burden, the huge numbers could fuel hostility in Italian society.
“Italy has mobilized to deal with the flows of migrants,” he said, adding that Europe must help if it “wants to stay faithful to its own principles, own history, own civilization.”
On Sunday, unidentified assailants hurled two incendiary devices at a hotel designed to host migrants near the northern Italian city of Brescia, authorities said Monday. Officials were investigating the attack on the Hotel Eureka, which sustained scant damage and has been vacant for years.
Mayor Giuseppe Lancini of Vobarno, a town northeast of Brescia, said interior ministry officials had told him last week the hotel would host 35 asylum-seekers, and that locals opposed the decision.”

“Iran on Monday signed a $5 billion agreement with France’s Total SA and a Chinese oil company to develop its massive offshore natural gas field, the first such deal with foreign companies since the landmark 2015 nuclear deal with world powers.
Officials met in Tehran and signed the agreement, which will see the firms develop a portion of the massive South Pars offshore field that Iran shares with Qatar. Qatar calls the same area the North Field and it provides the small country, now in the middle of a diplomatic crisis with four other Arab states, its incredible wealth.
Total has a 50.1-percent share in the new Iran deal. The state-owned China National Petroleum Corp. has 30-percent stake and Iran’s Petropars has 19.9 percent.
The development at phase 11 of the South Pars field will see 20 wells and two wellhead platforms built and connected to existing facilities by two underwater pipelines, Total said. A second phase will involve the construction of offshore compression facilities, the firm said.
Total said the project will have a capacity of 2 billion cubic feet of natural gas a day or 400,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, including condensate.
“This is a major agreement for Total, which officially marks our return to Iran to open a new page in the history of our partnership with the country,” Total chairman and CEO Patrick Pouyanne said in a statement. “Total will develop the project in strict compliance with applicable national and international laws.”
During the ceremony, Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh congratulated all involved in the deal, saying it will lead to “more than $5 billion in foreign investments.” He also described it as “one of the outcomes of the nuclear deal and recent presidential election,” which saw moderate President Hassan Rouhani re-elected over a hard-line challenger.
Zanganeh also held out a hand to U.S. oil companies, saying his country needs some $200 billion of investments in its oil industry in the next five years to make up for time lost during sanctions. Iran hopes to produce 6 million barrels of crude oil and condensates a day in five years, he said, up from some 3.6 million today.
“We do not consider any obstacle for the participation of American companies,” Zanganeh said. “The main obstacle is being created by the U.S. government.”
Iran sits atop the world’s fourth-largest oil reserves and the second-biggest stores of natural gas. Since the nuclear deal, which saw Iran limiting its enrichment of uranium in exchange for economic sanctions being lifted, the country has quickly boosted its crude oil production and sold what it had in floating reserves. Monday’s deal will further boost its coffers and secure a new supply of natural gas for domestic consumption, beginning in 2021.

A Nigerian man has been arrested in eastern France after being found with condoms stuffed with 79,000 euros ($90,000) hidden in his stomach, customs officials said today.
The man, arrested Saturday in Strasbourg, had another 13,000 Swiss francs (11,900 euros, $13,500) concealed in his clothes, the officials said.
The man told customs agents that he lived in Spain and worked as a dish washer at a restaurant in the Balearic Islands.
But a sniffer dog detected marijuana on the bank notes hidden in his clothing.
That led to an X-ray that revealed the presence of nine condoms stuffed with bank notes in the man’s intestines.
He has been charged with laundering drug money and lying to customs authorities. (AFP)

The petition argued Hizb ut-Tahrir, which supports Sharia law and has a constitution backing the death penalty for ex-Muslims, had never committed terrorist acts in Australia.
But the group’s Islamist ideology is so extreme it is banned in Germany, The Netherlands, Russia and a range of Muslim-majority nations including Indonesia Pakistan, Bangladesh and even Saudi Arabia.
Mr Tehan’s media statement, published on June 23, did not condemn Sheikh Saleem’s association with a petition defending Hizb ut-Tahrir.
‘The government has always accepted the right of any member of the RACS to express their views according to their religious faith, but, as a matter of course, does not always agree with them,’ he said.
‘The government acknowledges Sheik Saleem’s contribution to the RACS on behalf of his community.’
Mr Gaynor, who served as an Iraq war intelligence analyst in 2008 and 2009, said a Muslim imam who signed a petition in favour of Hizb ut-Tahrir was bound to support Sharia law.
‘An imam by virtue of his appointment and position will promote Sharia law,’ he said.

“Turkey on Monday condemned what it called an “excessive act” by Greece after Greek coast guards fired on a Turkish freighter ship near the Greek island of Rhodes.
The freighter’s captain, Haluk Sami Kalkavan, told Turkish media on Monday that the Greek coast guards approached his vessel in international waters, demanded that it dock at a port in Rhodes and fired on it when he refused. He said his crew counted 16 bullet holes on the vessel but the ship was not in danger of sinking.
The Greek Coast Guard said it tried to stop the vessel following “an anonymous telephone complaint” that it was carrying narcotics. It said the ship was in Greek waters.
“Warning shots were fired but the ship did not change course,” the Greek Coast Guard said. “The competent Turkish authorities have been informed of the incident.”
The Turkish Foreign Ministry issued a strong condemnation over the incident, accusing Greece of “disregarding human life.”
It added: “There is no explanation that can justify shooting at a commercial and therefore unarmed ship that is sailing between two Turkish ports.”
The state-run Anadolu Agency said the Turkish coast guard dispatched two boats while the navy sent an assault boat to the region following the incident. The boat was being accompanied back to Turkish waters where the crew would be questioned.

“A Somali immigrant living in Columbus, Ohio, pleaded guilty to training with a terrorist organization in Syria and plotting an attack on American soil.
Abdirahman Sheik Mohamud, 25, is a naturalized U.S. citizen from Somalia who was able to get a U.S. passport and travel to Greece in 2014. While Mohamud was supposed to have a layover in Istanbul on his trip to Greece, he crossed the border into Syria.
While in Syria, Mohamud was trained by the al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist organization, al-Nusrah Front. Mohamud learned fitness skills and how to use a variety of weapons and tactics for a terrorist attack. Mohamud, prosecutors said, also said he wanted to die fighting in Syria.
Though training with a terrorist organization, Mohamud was able to return to the U.S. after his brother died fighting in Syria with al-Nusrah.
Once home, Mohamud plotted to get weapons that could murder American military officers and other government employees in uniform. Mohamud was even scoping out locations for the attack, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) investigation into the plot…”

“An anonymous whistleblower claims legal advisers alleged to have encouraged false abuse allegations against Western forces in Iraq urged claimants to target the British, who were seen as a “soft touch”.
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) doled out around £20 million to insurgents, terrorists, and other individuals who claimed to have been abused by British military personnel.
Now, a whistleblower has come forward and told The Sun newspaper that many of the Iraqis that law firm Leigh Day helped lodge complaints were, in fact, claiming alleged abuse from U.S. forces – but were advised to accuse the British because they were a “soft touch”.
“I was personally responsible for collecting the documents from the people and I found many were not detained by British forces. Many had documents referring to the American forces at that time, especially at Um Qasar jail – Camp Bucca. But they cannot sue them, so they say, ‘OK, let’s make it the British’.”
The whistleblower claimed lawyers “knew they were fake claims” but advanced them regardless…”

“Thousands of British school children are being put at risk in unregistered religious centres and schools, the new chief inspector warns.
Up to 6,000 pupils could be in danger, and the warning comes as one former pupil claims his teachers caned him on an “almost daily basis”.
Amanda Spielman, head of the school’s inspectorate, Ofsted, called this weekend for new laws and powers to protect children.
“It is clear that weaknesses in current legislation allow some organisations to teach school-aged children religious texts full time… and avoid proper scrutiny,” Ms. Spielman told The Sunday Times.
“Since January 2016 my inspectors have visited numerous establishments that they believe should be registered as schools. The fact that such places are able to operate and remain unregistered leaves pupils at risk.”
It is estimated that up to 6,000 pupils are taught in 286 unregistered centres that inspectors have identified in England over the past 18 months.
Ofsted has recommended the schools for prosecution but no cases have come to court, although some have closed their doors.
Fewer than half have been inspected, 36 have been issued warnings, and the inspectors have been unable to get access to the rest, The Sunday Times reported.
“We will do everything we can to make sure they comply with the law or are closed. But action is also needed to protect the children who attend these places,” Ms. Spielman added.
The Department for Education said: “We have given Ofsted resources to step up investigations, identify them and work with us to take whatever action is required, including closing the school or working with the police and Crown Prosecution Service as necessary.
“There are already powers in place for local authorities and the police to safeguard children and intervene where they are not receiving a suitable education. We will support them in using these powers.””

10 injured after taxi crashes through pedestrians near
BOSTON – Several people have been injured after a taxi ran into a group of people near Logan Airport, according to Mass. State Police.
Emergency responders told Boston 25 News 10 people were taken to hospitals with injuries. However, the varying severity of the injuries was initially unclear.
Police said the crash happened at the Boston Logan taxi Stand on Porter Street at Tomahawk Drive. Officials said one of the taxis jumped the curb and hit several other drivers who were in the picnic table waiting area on a break.

FRANCE – Crowd fired upon by motorcycle assailants in Toulouse
AT least one person is dead and six others injured in a shooting in the French city of Toulouse.
Local media report the shooting took place around 9pm, local time, in the Abbal Square in the Reynerie district of the city, which lies in the south of France.
According to reports assailants riding a scooter and a motorcycle opened fired on a crowd in the square before fleeing.
Police cordoned off the area and confirmed one death.
Reports attributed to TV network France 3, said the attackers were wearing traditional Muslim clothes.
But that police had dismissed terrorism as a motive behind the incident, indicating it was more likely gang related.
Reports said the dead victim was known to the police.

Mekharena, an Eritrean, came to Latvia from Italy a year ago. Reaching Europe was an odyssey – he came via Uganda, Ethiopia, Israel and Egypt.
‘They don’t give us anything’
He only learnt he was going to Latvia a day before his flight. He was not allowed to choose the destination himself, and was not happy about it.
“There are lots of Eritreans everywhere in Europe. They talk to one another. We all know that in Germany they give you an apartment and €400 (£439; $568) pocket money. But in Latvia they don’t give us anything – just €139 a month,” he told BBC Russian.
In Riga it is hard to find a one-room flat to rent for that money. But there are no plans to increase benefits.
“Those are our allowances and we can’t afford to pay people more – we aren’t that kind of country,” said Ainars Latkovskis, head of the Parliamentary Commission for Internal Affairs.
“They can of course look for work. But by Latvian law you have to speak the language to get a proper job and it usually takes years to learn,” he said.
Mekharena says it is the low living standard that makes refugees leave Latvia as soon as they get their papers. He knows many asylum seekers who have done exactly that.
“Most of them couldn’t survive here. They can’t accept the difference [between incomes in Latvia and Germany]. Lots of them borrowed money to get to Europe and they need to pay it back,” said Mekharena. He himself paid people smugglers $3,000…”
Mekharena needs to return home and cram his “passport” where the sun doesn’t shine.

Most people inside and outside of the US believe that this country’s gun ownership rate is unique, but that’s not exactly true. Though America has the most privately owned guns per capita, there are other countries that aren’t too far behind us, such as Serbia, Yemen, Cyprus, and many Western nations like Finland and Switzerland. In most cases, these countries don’t have access to the same kind of firearms that we do, but nonetheless there are a ton of guns floating around in these places.
What really separates the US from every other country in the world, is that we have the right to bear arms preserved in our constitution. Technically, Honduras and Mexico have the same right in their constitutions, but in both cases it comes with a lot of restrictions. Their right to bear arms doesn’t have any teeth. The Swiss are known for letting many of their citizens own guns, but gun ownership for most Swiss citizens is more of a duty than a right.
America stands alone in this regard. We’re the only country with a constitution that gives civilians a clear and explicit right to own and carry firearms. In every other nation, civilians don’t own firearms unless their governments let them.
That however, is about to change. While most EU governments are eyeing more restrictive gun laws, the Czech Republic is about to add the right to bear arms to its constitution.

The media finally found its hero.
The hero was Brian Karem, the sweaty, surly and unshaven correspondent for Playboy, who whined that Sarah Huckabee-Sanders, the Deputy White House Press Secretary, was “bullying” the abused media.
Vox dubbed Karem “heroic” for defending “CNN’s honor.” The media’s “honor” has fallen so low that it needs defending by the red light district. If the media’s honor gets any lower, its honor will need an assist from the Mafia, Mexican drug cartels, NAMBLA and the Toxic Waste Association of America.
Karem claimed to be inspired by the tantrums of CNN’s Jim Acosta. CNN was particularly upset by the White House denying the network the precious video that it needs to show off its latest Trump attacks.
Off-camera briefings are a good start. Off-media briefings would be even better.
Under the illiterate headline, “We Stood Up to the Administration Today Because Free Press is Crucial,” Karem wrote at Playboy, “The administration supports the First Amendment – just not the people who practice it.”

In recent months, those of us who worry about Europe’s ongoing Islamization have been paying more attention than usual to recent elections on the continent. Geert Wilders, in the Netherlands, and Marine le Pen, in France, didn’t win, but at least they made some progress. In September, it’ll be Norway’s turn. Unfortunately, there’s not much of a choice. There are several political parties in Norway, but the likelihood is that we’ll end up with a Labor or Conservative prime minister. The Labor honcho is Jonas Gahr Støre, a globalist empty suit from Central Casting who’s perfectly happy with Islam and high-level immigration. Heading up the Conservatives option is the current Prime Minister, Erna Solberg, whose position on these issues is virtually indistinguishable from Gahr Støre’s. When it comes to Islam, she’s always been a first-class dhimmi. As my friend Peder “Fjordman” Jensen recalled the other day, Erna, back in 2011, “stated that Muslims in Europe are now harassed just like Jews were in the 1930s, during the rise of the Nazis.”
She’s even good at taqiyya: four years ago, she recounted a visit to an Oslo mosque whose members find it “difficult to be accepted in society.” What she failed to mention was that they were Ahmadi Muslims who, as I noted at the time, “are oppressed, persecuted, beaten, and even executed throughout much of the Islamic world, where they’re considered infidels.” Far from having problems being accepted by Norwegians, they’ve found in Norway a refuge from the oppression and violence they endured in their homelands at the hands of mainstream Muslims Islam. But you won’t hear that from Erna, for whom Muslims are always the victims and Norwegians the bad guys.

North Korea crisis could ‘get out of control’: China’s UN envoy
United Nations (United States) (AFP) – China’s UN ambassador on Monday warned of “disastrous” consequences if world powers fail to find a way to ease tensions with North Korea which he said could “get out of control”.
Ambassador Liu Jieyi made the remarks a day after US President Donald Trump spoke by phone with Chinese leader Xi Jinping on the threat posed by North Korea’s missile and nuclear tests.
“Currently tensions are high and we certainly would like to see a de-escalation,” Liu told a news conference at UN headquarters as China takes over the Security Council presidency in July.
“If tension only goes up… then sooner or later it will get out of control and the consequences would be disastrous,” he said.
