“A HUGE fire has destroyed the top floors of a new apartment block in east London.
Firefighters were called to Bow Wharf, a new upmarket development in Wennigton Road, Bethnal Green, just after 11am.

The complex had not been completed, and was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

Scored of protesters rallied outside the Trump International Hotel and Tower in New York City, Sunday, calling for the impeachment of US President Donald Trump.
Protesters chanted against Trump, calling him “racist, sexist, anti-gay,” also carrying placards depicting him as Adolf Hitler.
“Trump is a liar, he is dangerous, he is a threat to our democracy and our American way of life,” Nina Volskovik, a protester said. “He is the most frightening thing ever happened to my life,” she added.
The rally comes as part of a nation-wide protest against the 45th president of the United States, who organisers say “has been in violation of the Constitution from the day he was sworn into the office of President.”

“A GROUP of SAS soldiers surrounded by up to 50 Islamic State extremists fought their way to survival with their bare hands, it has been claimed.
One British fighter drowned a jihadist in a puddle, while another killed three extremists by beating them to death with the butt of his rifle.
Almost every member of the elite unit returned to operations two days after their miracle escape, a source told the Daily Star.
The team were reportedly ambushed by the ISIS fighters as they completed an intelligence gathering operation close to Mosul, northern Iraq.
After a four hour gun battle with the terror cell, in which roughly 20 ISIS fighters were said to have been killed, the SAS team were trapped by a river bed with then 10 bullets left between them.
Rather than be kidnapped and beheaded, the group resolved to go down fighting, convinced they were all about to die.

“They bayoneted, slashed and beat the IS fighters to death.”
One soldier in the Special Boat Service, an elite unit of the Royal Navy, killed one of the terrorists by forcing his face into the mud and holding him down until he drowned.
“He then picked up a stone and smashed it into the face of another gunman wrestling with one of his colleagues.
“Another killed three of the fighters by using his assault rifle as a club.
“Others were stabbing at the gunmen who wanted to capture the British troops alive.”
The soldiers were described as fighting like “crazed warriors”, killing 12 terrorists in the space of five minutes.
The surviving ISIS soldiers are said to have fled.
“It was a classic case of Who Dares Wins,” the source added.
Apart from two soldiers who suffered minor gunshot wounds, all the members of the unit were said to have returned to active duty two days after their incredible battle.”

The New York Times has become the new mouthpiece for Al Jazeera, the Qatari state-owned media outlet which the monarchy uses to spew its extremism.
In an opinion piece written by the editorial board of the Times, the prestigious newspaper objects to attempts by six Gulf States — Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Yemen – to “muzzle … the state-funded news station.”
The demand — among 12 other ultimata issued by the Gulf States – is due to Qatar’s support of terrorism and Al Jazeera’s role in that project.
Over the past decades, Qatar has pumped hundreds of millions of dollars into the U.S.-designated terror organization Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood’s affiliate in Gaza. In March, Hamas leader Khaled Meshal unveiled the new Hamas Charter in the Sheraton Hotel in Doha. As recently as February, Qatar sent $100 million to Gaza, as part of a $1-billion package they promised the terrorist-run entity after starting its latest war with Israel.

Given that I write about terrorism and Islamic extremism full time, it is rare that I am “shocked and appalled,” as the politicians say, by any given fresh outrage perpetrated by the enemies of civilization. More often, I am quietly angry but broadly resigned to my own impotence, much like a 65-year-old business executive whose 25 year-old trophy wife has recently been spending suspicious amounts of time with her handsome tennis instructor.
However, the latest assault on atheist philosopher Sam Harris and liberal anti-extremist Maajid Nawaz is jaw-dropping in its calumny.
Harris and Nawaz, who wrote a book together called Islam and the Future of Tolerance, recorded a two-hour podcast (Waking Up, Episode 59) where they spoke about issues having to do with Islamic extremism and Muslim integration in the West.
Someone else took one minute of the show and broadcast it on social media. The one-minute segment is where Harris, to make a point, presents what he believes is the line of thinking of someone who is against Muslim immigration in the West. Harris presented this argument so he could ask Nawaz how he would respond to it.

Many countries in the West are seeking to accommodate radical Islamism following the flow of Middle Eastern immigrants to Europe and the North America in the name of multiculturalism and cultural relativism.
This sentiment is expressed, for example, in events such as Hijab Solidarity Day , celebrated widely in the West, attempts to enshrine Islamic (sharia) law into the British legal system and passing what almost amounts to a blasphemy law in Canada (Motion M-103).
This trend in the West is problematic. Under Islamic law, in some countries, thieves face the punishment of having their hand and leg severed; females who commit “adultery” face death by stoning, beheading or hanging. Homosexuality is a crime punishable by death.
Are these cultural values morally equivalent to Western values? In Islamic countries ruled by sharia law, limits are placed on equality of women, such as prohibitions against driving, employment and education.
Is female genital mutilation, which is practiced by many Muslim-majority countries — a morally equivalent value? We will soon see when the FGM case in Michigan goes to trial. Lawyers in the case have said that the doctor accused of cutting girls will claim freedom of religion as her defense.

In a an article published by the HuffPost, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has called on Google to act against what it regards as online hate speech.
Their goal is to persuade Google itself to intervene in the battle of ideas by censoring material that it does not like. These activists justify this goal based on the precedent set by Google itself, in which the tech giant pledged to counter extremist ideas by burying YouTube videos which it feels promote offensive ideas but which do not violate YouTube’s rules. In addition, they will deny these videos the option to promote themselves with paid adverts, or be recommended or commented on by other users.
“That means these videos will have less engagement and be harder to find,” Kent Walker, Google’s general counsel and senior vice president, wrote in a company blog post on the change. “We think this strikes the right balance between free expression and access to information without promoting extremely offensive viewpoints.”

This is a rare chance to legally draw a proverbial “line-in-the-sand”. FGM is flat-out child abuse and no amount of religious freedom can surmount maintaining a minor’s physical integrity. We can only hope that the court is not gulled by comparisons to male circumcision, as there is no medical basis for female “circumcision” (i.e., FGM).
Not anytime soon will there be another chance to so easily reject some basic aspect of Islamic practices. Best of all the judge, U.S. Magistrate Elizabeth Stafford, is a woman. Any sane Western female should be so repulsed by the notion of FGM to where incarcerating its practitioners is a no-brainer.
A few years ago the left was trying to stop male circumcision, now they are going to have to be defending female circumcision. I wonder how many remember the first campaign?

The European Union has initiated legal action against the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland for failing to comply with a controversial order to take in thousands of migrants from Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
The so-called infringement procedure, which authorizes the European Commission, the powerful executive arm of the European Union, to sue member states that are considered to be in breach of their obligations under EU law, could lead to massive financial penalties.
The dispute dates back to September 2015, when, at the height of Europe’s migration crisis, EU member states narrowly voted to relocate 120,000 “refugees” from Italy and Greece to other parts of the bloc. This number was in addition to a July 2015 plan to redistribute 40,000 migrants from Italy and Greece.
Of the 160,000 migrants to be “shared,” nine countries in Central and Eastern Europe were ordered to take in around 15,000 migrants. Although the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia voted against the agreement, they were still required to comply.
Since then, several Central European EU member states have vehemently refused to accept their assigned quotas of migrants. Poland, for example, has a quota of 6,182 migrants, not one of whom has been admitted. The Czech Republic has a quota of 2,691 migrants, of whom only 12 have been taken. Hungary has a quota of 1,294, none of whom have been admitted.

A recent conference in Saudi Arabia served to underscore the misguided stance of many officials in the United States who deny the connection between Islam and violence, particularly when it comes to terrorist acts committed on American soil.
The conference, “Ideological Trends between Freedom of Expression and the Rulings of the Sharia,” was held in Mecca, March 19-21; organized by the Islamic Fiqh Council (an affiliate of the Muslim World League), and sponsored by Saudi King Salman ibn Abdul Aziz. The event illustrated the impossibility expecting Islamic governments to protect genuine human rights.
One of its participants, Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen, Secretary General of the 57-nation Organization of Islamic Cooperation, said that the gathering served as an important contribution to his group’s efforts “to promote the true image and lofty teachings of Islam, which call for affection, beneficence, tolerance, coexistence and harmony.” Both the content of the conference and the background of its initiators, however, indicate the opposite.
“Humans are free to have their blood, money and honor preserved and remain free except from worshipping God Almighty” said Prince Khalid Al-Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Mecca Region Governor and adviser to Saudi Arabia’s King Salman, referring to the Quran at the opening ceremony. The operative word is “except.” What that means is that all people must submit to the will of Allah and that Islam is the only true religion.

An Algerian man who was jailed for spraying food with his own excrement in supermarkets still can’t be deported – despite a £250,000 legal battle to kick him out of the country.
Chemist Sahnoun Daifallah, 50, was jailed for nine years at Bristol Crown Court in 2009 for contaminating food, wine and books at four businesses in May 2008.
Daifallah squirted a mixture of urine and faeces from a 1.5 litre weed killer container – concealed within a laptop bag – at the Air Balloon Pub in Birdlip, before moving on to a Waterstones bookshop in Cirencester.
Two days later, he targeted a Tesco store in Quedgley and a Morrisons in Abbeydale.
Damage to the businesses was estimated at £700,000.
A search of his house in Gloucester revealed further plans to contaminate businesses in Bristol and Birmingham.
He was also found to be in possession of an offensive weapon – a catapult with marbles.
Daifallah, who was granted refugee status two years after arriving in Britain in 1999, was told he would be deported in 2010 – but he has been in immigration custody since February 2013, The Sun reported.
Since then, there have been two judicial reviews. However it is not clear what his objections to deportation were.
According to the paper, those 54 months spent in immigration detention have cost the taxpayer a whopping £155,000.
Along with Daifallah’s estimated legal bills of £100,000, that’s a total of £250,000.
A Home Office spokeswoman told MailOnline: ‘This government puts the rights of the British public before those of criminals, and foreign nationals who abuse our hospitality by committing crimes in the UK should be in no doubt of our determination to deport them.’
She added that a total of 6,171 foreign national offenders were deported between 2016 and 2017 – the highest number of removals ever.
Over 37,000 foreign national offenders have been removed since 2010.

“AN Algerian refugee jailed for trying to poison supermarket food is still in Britain – seven years after being ordered out of the country.
Sahnoun Daifallah is estimated to have cost taxpayers at least £250,000 while fighting attempts to deport him.
The poisoner was told he would be booted out in 2010 while serving a nine-year sentence.
Using a weedkiller bottle, the chemist had sprayed a mixture of urine and faeces over food, wine and children’s books in several shops and a pub in Gloucestershire.
Daifallah, 50, got his deportation papers when he was freed in 2013 but since then he has been locked up in an immigration centre.
There have been two judicial reviews.
His legal bills are around £100,000 and his 54 months at an immigration centre has cost £155,000.
Last night, Alex Wild, of the Taxpayers Alliance said: “There are far too many cases like this and the cost cannot be justified when the public finances are in such a dire state.”
His lawyers now argue he has been so long in custody, he should be freed.
The Home Office said foreign criminals “should be in no doubt of our determination to deport them”.”

One of the attackers was carrying a handgun, while the other had a rifle.
Police were searching for the suspects after they fled from the scene.
Laure Chabaud, an Avignon magistrate, said police suspected it was a gangland dispute.
The incident comes two weeks after a man attacked worshippers outside a Finsbury Park mosque in London, killing one and injuring nine.

Worshippers leaving the Arrahma mosque in Avignon were approached by two hooded suspects at about 22:30 local time (21:30 GMT) on Sunday.
The suspects, carrying a handgun and a shotgun, arrived in a Renault Clio before opening fire on the crowd, La Provence newspaper reports.
Police said they were not treating the incident as a terrorist attack.
Four people were wounded outside the mosque and a family of four – including a seven-year-old girl – also suffered injuries from shrapnel while in their apartment, located some 50 metres away, La Provence said, citing a source.
Two of the eight wounded were hospitalised, according to the source, who also said that worshippers leaving the mosque had not been the intended target.
The Avignon attack is not being treated as a terrorist incident, the prosecutor’s office said. Laure Chabaud, a district magistrate, said that the incident was likely to be the result of a dispute between youths.
On Thursday, a man was arrested after trying to drive a car into a crowd in front of a mosque in the Paris suburb of Creteil. No-one was injured in the incident.
France remains on alert amid heightened security following a deadly attack on Paris police in April and a series of terrorist incidents in recent years.

“A man in northwestern Baghis province of Afghanistan has killed his fourteen year old daughter in the latest case of honor killing after she allegedly eloped with her friend.
According to the local government officials, the incident took place in the outskirts of the provincial capital of Badghis and the perpetrator has reportedly joined the Taliban ranks after the murder.
Provincial governor’s spokesman Zahir Bahand confirmed the incident and said the teenage girl was shot dead by her father in Qala-e-Naw area after she allegedly eloped with her friend.
Bahand further added that the victim’s friend who was believed to be eighteen years old was also shot dead by the man.
He said the man managed to flee the area after the brutal killing and has joined the Taliban ranks.
This comes incidents involving violence against women including rape of young children by armed individuals are on the rise in the remote parts of the country amid rampant violence against the women.
The Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission officials said last year that they have recorded around 3,000 cases of violence against women and young girls.
The officials further added that the cases belonged to the year 1395 and mainly involved rape cases, forced marriage, and other forms of domestic violence.”

“Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz has ordered an over-enthusiastic columnist to be suspended from his job after he equated him with God, Saudi media reported on Sunday.
King Salman has frequently been lauded by columnists in local media, in traditional deference to authority, since the 81-year-old assumed office in 2015.
But Ramadan al-Anzi’s column in al-Jazirah newspaper describing King Salman as “Haleem”, or forbearing, and “Shadeed al-Eqab”, strict in punishment – both terms associated in Islam with God – appeared to have gone too far.
Attributing divine qualities or giving individuals any of the 99 names of God is frowned upon in the kingdom, which follows the strict Sunni Muslim Wahhabi school of Islam.
The newspaper published an apology late on Saturday.
“The phrases and tribute which the author bestowed on the personality of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, are not acceptable, despite what God had bestowed upon him, may God protect him, of the honor of serving the two holy mosques, Islam, the homeland and the people,” al-Jazirah wrote.
Saudi media reported that the king had ordered that action be taken against the newspaper, but no specifics were given.
In a message to Information Minister Awwad bin Saleh Alawwad, the king wrote that he was “astonished by some of the phrases used in the column”, according to Okaz newspaper.
Online newspaper, sabq, quoted the king as saying in his written complaint: “This is an issue that has distressed us, we don’t accept it and don’t approve of it, recognizing its dangers and the danger of being lenient towards it.””

Originally, LEAN was founded as a partner organization to the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund (LELDF) to lobby before Congress and state legislatures on behalf of law enforcement. LELDF is prohibited under its Internal Revenue Service classification from engaging in legislative advocacy. LEAN, on the other hand, is free to advocate and promote policies that protect the safety of police and other law enforcement officers.
Too often, the men and women of law enforcement become victims of the very justice system they are sworn to uphold. Politically ambitious prosecutors in many states and cities have found the fastest route to professional advancement is to focus on prosecuting the police instead of criminals. What’s more, cops are under constant threat of frivolous lawsuits that are an incentive to “play it safe” instead of directly confronting the criminal element.
Policies that favor criminals at the expense of police and the public skyrocketed during the Obama administration, a time period that LEAN has described as the “War on America’s Police.” LEAN is working with the Trump administration to repair the damage done in that war and to tip the scales of justice back in favor of protecting law-abiding citizens.
