Israel Steps Up Fight against ISIS, as Terror Group Wages ‘War’ for Control of Egyptian Border
Israeli military forces are quietly conducting operations to counter the threat of Islamic State terrorists along the Sinai border area with Egypt, according to senior Israeli defense officials who described ISIS as the “most quickly advanced threat we’ve ever had.”
The daily battle, which has received little coverage in the Western media, has become a chief concern for Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) personnel operating along the Jewish state’s southern border, eclipsing even Hamas terrorists in the region. Officials estimate that there are anywhere from 1,000 to 2,000 “active members of ISIS” operating in the Sinai region.
ISIS terrorists in Sinai also are in possession of advanced military technology, such as anti-tank missiles, mortars, and long-range rockets, according to Israeli assessments.
“ISIS is the most quickly advancing threat we’ve ever had,” one IDF officer working in the region said. “The rate with which they advance in resources and both capabilities and military training far outweighs and outpaces” the threats posed by Hamas and Hizbullah terrorists in Lebanon.
The threat of ISIS has fostered increased cooperation between Israeli and Egyptian military officials. Israeli military officials are conducting scores of intelligence gathering operations along the border in conjunction with Egyptian officials, the source said.

ISIS Attacked near Northeastern Israeli Border
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that Tuesday, “unidentified” aircraft attacked ISIS forces at the Syrian-Jordanian-Israeli border. The attacks were directed against the ISIS branch in the Golan, the Khalid ibn al-Walid Army, and at least 12 members of the organization were killed and many were injured. In addition, it was claimed that the focus of the attacks was the village of al-Jamala and areas close to it in the Yarmouk basin.
It is not clear whether these planes belong to the international coalition against ISIS.

SEOUL (Reuters) – South Korea does not aim to change its agreement with the United States on the deployment of a U.S. anti-missile system and it will continue to work closely with Washington on it, the South’s top national security adviser said on Friday.
A decision to postpone the full deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system pending a review of its environment impact was a domestic measure to ensure a democratic process, Chung Eui-yong told a news briefing.
U.S. ally South Korea said on Wednesday it would hold off on installing remaining elements of the THAAD system, which China strongly objects to, until the environmental study was completed.
“The decision to introduce THAAD was made to protect South Korea and the U.S. forces in South Korea from a growing threat from the North. We won’t take this decision lightly,” Chung said.

Arab powers draw up Qatari blacklist; Turkey to send troops as Gulf crisis deepens
DUBAI/DOHA (Reuters) – Arab states that have cut diplomatic and transport ties with Qatar tightened their squeeze on Friday by putting dozens of Qatar-linked people on terrorism blacklists, while Qatari ally Turkey came to its side with plans to send troops, warships and planes.
The developments intensified a confrontation between tiny-but-wealthy Qatar and a group of Arab nations led by Saudi Arabia and Egypt that accuse it of fomenting instability. The dispute has created a major diplomatic test for the United States, which is close allies of the countries on both sides.
In an apparent escalation of the crisis, staff at Al Jazeera, Qatar’s influential satellite television news channel which often infuriates the rulers of the Arab world, said on Thursday its computer systems were under cyber attack.
Riyadh, Cairo and their allies accuse Qatar, the world’s richest country per capita, of supporting militant Islamist movements across the region. They have imposed what Qatar says is a blockade of shipping and air traffic, and closed Qatar’s only land border, causing panic buying at supermarkets.

Feud over Qatar deepens conflicts across Arab world
DUBAI/TUNIS (Reuters) – The ostracism of Qatar by other powerful Arab states is deepening divisions between their respective allies vying for influence in wars and political struggles from Libya to Yemen.
The feud complicates efforts to stabilize countries reeling from years of turmoil and undermines the notion of a Sunni Muslim Arab world united against terrorism and Iran, proclaimed by U.S. President Donald Trump in his visit last month.
The quarrel is the latest chapter in the battle of wills between political Islamists and traditional Arab autocrats which has buffeted Muslim societies for decades.
Since the 2011 “Arab Spring” protests, which aspired to democratic reform but in several countries collapsed into warfare, Egypt and especially the United Arab Emirates emerged as main foes of an ascendant Muslim Brotherhood backed by Qatar.
After Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the UAE cut ties to Doha on Monday, accusing it of supporting militants and Iran, regional allies followed suit and denounced domestic foes as Qatari stooges, undermining reconciliation efforts by foreign powers.

New York City obsessed with stamping out the evil of white-majority schools

The foundation of every state is the education of its youth. So said Diogenes four centuries before the birth of Christ, though the sentiment as true today as it did then. Every community wants the best schools and teachers for its children.
New York City is no exception. Activists there have expressed dissatisfaction with a City Department of Education plan released Tuesday to “ensure equity and excellence for all” by increasing diversity in New York City public schools.”
But it’s not the goal of the document or the ideas it embodies that opponents find objectionable. Rather, it’s the terminology. In the view of two city council members, the document uses the icky D-word in place of segregation and integration, which they find more to the point.
Council members Brad Lander and Ritchie Torres concede that the plan is a “serious start to a decades-overdue effort,” but find the language mealy-mouthed.
“We are sorry to see that the plan does not use the words segregation and integration, but instead sticks to the more anodyne ‘diversity,’” said the two councilmen. “We will not break the cycle of segregation if we cannot even name it.”

“China has expressed “grave concern” over reports that ISIS has killed two Chinese teachers kidnapped in Pakistan.
The man and woman, said by Chinese media to be a couple, were kidnapped by armed men on May 24 from the city of Quetta, the capital of Pakistan’s Balochistan province, on May 24 on their way to teach a Chinese language class, a senior security officer told CNN last month.
Amaq, a news agency affiliated with ISIS, said Thursday that Islamic State fighters had killed two Chinese teachers who were being held in the Mastung, Balochistan. The group also released a video, which showed two bodies shot and bleeding on some grassy ground.
“China resolutely opposes all forms of kidnapping of civilians and opposes all forms of terrorism and extreme acts of violence,” said Hua Chunying, the spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry, in a statement on Friday.
The deaths underscore the risks of China’s growing international reach and influence. The Global Times, a state-run tabloid, said that guarding Chinese nationals overseas had become a new and serious challenge for national security…”?
Obama never warned election officials of Russian election ‘hacking’

Iran: Thousands honour victims of deadly Tehran attacks
Mourners attended a funeral procession in Tehran, Friday, in honour of the 17 victims of two suicide bomb and gun attacks in Iran’s capital earlier in the week.
The mourners paid their respects to the victims, and also shouted slogans against Saudi Arabia, the US and Israel, who they believe support the self-proclaimed Islamic State which claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Multiple attacks hit the Iranian capital of Tehran, Wednesday, involving suicide bombers and gunmen storming into Iran’s parliament complex and targeting the Mausoleum of Ayatollah Khomeini. 17 people were killed in the attack.

CNN reports that a man is about to give birth to “his” first child. Of course, the story is talking about a transgender man (a woman), and the story refers to this woman as “he” or “him” throughout the entire story.

Husband-and-wife Tony and Julie Wadsworth were found guilty by a majority verdict of encouraging a string of boys, including a teenager looking for a golf ball, to take part in sexual activity in Warwickshire between 1992 and 1996.
Julie Wadsworth, 60, and her 69-year-old husband told Warwick Crown Court they engaged in or watched sex acts in an area of parkland but claimed “young men” were involved.
Mrs Wadsworth was convicted by majority 10-2 verdicts of nine indecent assaults and five counts of outraging decency after a three-week trial.
Her husband, who acted as a “look-out” during sexual activity involving his wife and a total of six youngsters, was found guilty of the same charges, also by majority verdicts.
As the verdicts were returned, Mrs Wadsworth – who was cleared of indecently assaulting one of the victims at her home – repeatedly gulped, swayed in the dock and wiped away tears with a black tissue.

Iraq: Special Forces accused of war crimes after torture videos smuggled out of Iraq
Footage and stills taken from an undisclosed location by Iraqi photographer Ali Arkady as part of a documentary film were released earlier this month.
The content appears to show an Iraqi special forces unit torturing and executing civilians and prisoners during their operation in Mosul against the so-called Islamic State in 2016.
Ali Arkady, Cameraman (Arabic): “I stayed with them everyday, for a long time I worked alongside this unit, spent every day with them and slept when they slept. My equipment, my cameras – all of it was there. When they arrested and brought someone, they usually called me and I captured everything with my camera.”
Ali Arkady, Cameraman: “Truth be told, I trusted them and believed in them, I had strong faith in them. Over that short period of time, especially at the beginning, I truly believed they were heroes. They are brave and they do fight their enemy relentlessly. It’s a known fact”
Ali Arkady, Cameraman: “When I gradually saw deeply violent things, tortures, rapings, and lastly the killing, then as a journalist I decided that I had to publish this material and tell people about these crimes. I was just being professional.”
Ali Arkady, Cameraman: “At first they didn’t allow me to film tortures and some other bad stuff. But in a few days they said: “OK, you can film the interrogation, but don’t film tortures.” I said: “OK, no problem, I’m going to shoot the interrogation for my story.” I continued working with them, after a while they said: “We cannot tell you to stop shooting – we trust you. But after you’re done, cut some scenes from the footage.” I was getting curious and more and more interested in the subject, so after 5 weeks of filming some really violent stuff, I decided to publish the material.”
Ali Arkady, Cameraman: “In two or three weeks, it affected [me], when I came home they asked me: “What is wrong with you?” I realised I was psychologically affected by what I saw there, my state of mind was affected. I kept thinking about those people who suffered so much. I was very sad. The pain they experienced was passed on to me and I could feel it.”
Ali Arkady, Cameraman: “There was torture, and then they would completely destroy them, and so on. But, when things started to get really severe, in the end of the week, they used to tell me that there will be killings, but I, as a simple cameraman, did not believe it would really be that way until I saw that happening with my own eyes. What I saw mysellf, that happened in the afternoon or evening of 20th of December. Captain Omar Nizar and Sergeant Ali Heydar burst into our room, there were two other journalists who worked for an international news agency, and they switched on their mobile phone…”
Ali Arkady, Cameraman: “I could hear their voices on the recording and see how sergeant Heydar started to shoot that man, firing approximately six to nince bullets at the person. I could also hear Captain Omar saying, “Stop this, Heydar, stop, it’s enough. I want to talk with him” – and then he fired at him three times. The story they told me was that they decided to go to a hospital. That man worked there. They grabbed him, took him out and said, “Come on, show us where ISIS is. Sure thing you know where ISIS is.” The man answered that, as far as he knew, ISIS was not far from that place – in the Bazvaya village. Omar and Heydar said that when they had been about to enter the village they saw an old lady approach. I know that all villages in that area were empty, abandoned. There were no people in Bazvaya, though that is a large village. All people have been evacuated by the military. Some still live in Kojali, while I never saw anyone in neighboring villages. I don’t know exactly where that man was executed, but they said that it happened somewhere near the village. So, as I said, there was an old lady who came and shouted to them, “Don’t go there, to that village. There are ISIS snipers in it. If you go there they will kill you.” So, Oman and Heydar thought that the man wanted them killed and thus they decided to kill him. That’s what they told me.”
Ali Arkady, Cameraman: “Two months ago or a little over two months ago my family, who live in Iraq, in the Khanaqin area to be exact, received a direct threat from these forces, specifically from Omar Nizar, via Facebook. My father logged in to Facebook and started talking with him, negotiating. He [Nizar] threatened my father, saying they would come for us in the night. He made several other threats, all of which can be seen on my page. I personally have received no threats, since I have had no contact whatsoever with them. But the threats addressed to my family were undoubtedly meant for me as well, even though personally I haven’t received any. But it means I’m in danger too.”

CANADA – FREDERICTON – Man who beat wife said he didn’t know it was against law
A Fredericton man who beat his wife WITH A HOCKEY STICK for half an hour told a court on May 24 that he didn’t know it was against the law in Canada.
Mohamad Rafia, 54, of Winter Street, a Syrian refugee who arrived in Canada about 14 months ago, pleaded guilty to counts of assault causing bodily harm and uttering threats on May 26.
On Thursday, he was sentenced to time served and a year of probation.
The court heard Rafia beat his wife, Raghda Aldndal, on May 18 and threatened to kill her if she ever left him. Rafia also pulled her hair and slapped her face during the assault, Crown prosecutor Claude Haché said Thursday.
The assault came to light, court was told on Thursday, when a family friend took Aldndal to the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, where she initially told medical staff she’d hurt herself falling in the bathtub.
The couple had been arguing about money, Haché said, and that there was apparent bruising on the victim.
Rafia had been in custody since May 19.
“He says he’s committed a mistake and he’s going to rectify it,” interpreter Abdelhaq Hamza said for Rafia during a May 24 bail hearing.
“He’s saying that he was not aware of the law and he was coming from a background where the laws are completely different.”
Through the interpreter, Rafia said officials didn’t inform him of the differences in the laws in Canada and that more should have been done to educate him.
“Why didn’t they explain the law when we first came?” Rafia said.
A police brief entered as evidence in the bail hearing indicated Rafia was well aware Canadian and Syrian domestic violence laws were the same here.
“Aldndal stated that being assaulted by her spouse is culturally accepted from the country they are from,” the Fredericton police brief stated. “However, the laws [in Syria] do not permit it, and if the aggressor is caught, they will go to jail.”
Lisa Bamford De Gante, executive director of the Multicultural Association of Fredericton, said she could not speak about individual cases, but told The Daily Gleaner that domestic violence is against the law in Syria, and that refugees arriving in Canada go through federal information sessions, which include educating newcomers about Canadian law.
Upon arriving in Fredericton, Bamford De Gante said, there’s an abundance of material and educational sessions presented to refugees. Privately sponsored refugees are presented with the same materials and resources, she said.

“Germany’s foreign minister has called for an end to a land, sea and air blockade imposed on Qatar by a Saudi-led clique of Arab countries with grudges against Doha, urging for all sides to negotiate a solution.

“A U.N. aid agency that helps Palestinians in Gaza has condemned the territory’s Hamas rulers after discovering a tunnel under two of its schools for boys.
UNWRA said Friday it “condemns the existence of such tunnels in the strongest possible terms” and “robustly intervened and protested to Hamas.”
It said the tunnel “has no entry or exit points” on school premises and will be shut.

“The Russian military on Friday accused the U.S.-led coalition in Syria of providing safe corridors for the Islamic State group to leave the area around its stronghold of Raqqa.
Col. Gen. Sergei Surovikin, the commander of Russian forces in Syria, said IS made a deal earlier this month with the Kurdish forces to leave two villages southwest of Raqqa and move toward Palmyra.
Surovikin said the U.S.-led coalition along with the allied Kurds “collude with the leaders of the IS, who surrender the areas under their control and head to provinces where Syrian government forces operate.”
“There is an impression that under the slogan of fighting international terrorism in Syria the Americans are using IS to offer resistance to government forces’ advances,” he said at a briefing.
Surovikin said Russian forces had struck several IS convoys as they were leaving Raqqa.
Russian warplanes struck an IS convoy heading toward Palmyra on May 25 and another on May 30, killing 80 militants and destroying many of their vehicles, he said.
Surovikin also criticized the U.S. for trying to block Syrian government forces from taking control of the country’s southern border.
He said that Syrian government troops had secured territorial gains in the southern Suwayda province near the Jordanian border, but encountered resistance from the U.S.-led coalition.
The U.S. has dealt the Syrian government and its allied troops several blows near Tanf close to the border with Jordan, where the U.S. trains Syrian opposition forces.
Surovikin dismissed the U.S. argument that Syrian government forces there posed a threat to the training camp as “absurd” and criticized Washington’s action as a violation of Syria’s sovereign right to protect its border.
Col. Gen. Sergei Rudskoi of the Russian military’s General Staff also questioned the U.S. role in Syria.
“Having declared the goal of fighting international terrorism, the coalition strikes Syrian troops while letting IS militants exit the encircled areas unhampered, thus boosting terrorist groupings around Palmyra and Deir el-Zour,” he said. “It raises a question why they do it and what their real goals are.”
Rudskoi hailedg an effort by Russia, Turkey and Iran to establish safe zones in Syria, saying that it has “practically ended a civil war in Syria.” He added that the specifics related to safe zones boundaries and monitoring mechanisms are to be approved at a summit in Kazakhstan’s capital Astana later this month.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday described the creation of safe zones as a “qualitative change” in Syria.
“There is now a real chance to strengthen the cease-fire and give impetus to Syria talks in Geneva,” he said on a trip to Kazakhstan.”
