A teenage girl from Chicago who has been charged with killing an Uber driver randomly attacked the man with a knife and a machete that she had just stolen from Walmart, authorities say.
Eliza Wasni, 16, kept her eyes mostly to the floor Wednesday afternoon as a Cook County judge ordered her held without bail in the killing of Grant Nelson of Wilmette — an act prosecutors called “heinous” and “not provoked in any manner.”

I had some training against blade attacks.
Enough to be really, truly jealous about my personal space. Hyper-aware of crowds or strangers moving erratically in my peripheral vision.
In my experience most people who use a blade don’t know what they are doing, but they are using them against people who don’t know how to defend themselves.

Troops attack AFP, other reporters in Venezuela
Caracas (AFP) – Venezuela’s National Guard forces on Wednesday assaulted several reporters, including AFP photographer Luis Robayo, as they covered a protest against President Nicolas Maduro.
Robayo said the troops beat him as they sought to stop him from taking pictures of clashes between demonstrators and the National Guard on Caracas’ Francisco Fajardo highway.
“The National Guard started to go by on motorbikes. They approached and one of them hit me several times in the head, then they pushed me and I fell. They lifted me up by the (bulletproof) vest, and my camera fell,” he recalled.
One of them tried to take off Robayo’s gas mask and arrest him only to be told to stop by a superior, the photographer said.

The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia after both State and USAID failed to respond to identical March 31, 2017, FOIA requests seeking:
All records relating to any contracts, grants or other allocations/disbursements of funds by the State Department (USAID) to the Foundation Open Society-Albania (FOSA) and/or its personnel and/or any FOSA subsidiaries. Such records shall include, but is not be limited to proposals, contracts, requests for funding, payment authorizations, invoices, and similar budget records, as well as any and all related records of communication between State Department officials, employees, or representatives and officials, employees, or representative of the U.S. Agency for International Development.
All records of communication between any officials, employees or representatives of the State Department (USAID), including but not limited to U.S. Ambassador Donald Lu, and any officials, employees or representatives of Foundation Open Society-Albania, its subsidiaries and/or affiliated organizations.

Bangladesh – Music video ‘Allah Meherban’ removed from Youtube
The controversial music video ‘Allah Meherban’ of ‘Boss-2’ film featuring Bangladesh actress Nusraat Faria has finally been removed from the Youtube.
The removal came on Tuesday after a Bangladeshi lawyer on Sunday served a legal notice on Jaaz Multimedia to remove the song within three days.
On 26 May this year, Jaaz Multimedia uploaded the music video on its official channel of video sharing site Youtube ahead of the release of the joint production.
Nusraat Faria came under fire by social media users for her choice of costume in the latest music video Allah Meherbaan.
When contacted over the matter, Dhalywood actress texted to Prothom Alo reporter saying, I’m out of home for a family affairs. I can’t talk right now.
The Indian production house SK Movies removed the song from their official channel, too.

Majority of the comments on the video on Youtube and Facebook were scathing
Actor Nusraat Faria and makers of the upcoming movie “Boss 2” are facing the wrath of social media users for the contents of a music video titled “Allah Meherbaan”, a song from the movie.
Many users are saying they are aggrieved by the lyrical content of the song, which hurts their religious sentiments.
Jazz Multimedia released a poster for the movie on their official Facebook page on May 25 with the thumbnail showing the actor in revealing costumes.
It did not sit well with social media users. Majority of the comments on the video on Youtube and Facebook were scathing, with many calling for boycott of the movie.
The song was released on Friday and posted on the page as well. As of Sunday night there were over 800 comments on the post, most of them critical of the producers and the actress.
Several commenters called the video a “mockery against Islam” and urged the producers to drop it from the movie.
Faria, whose official Facebook page has been flooded with comments, appeared undaunted by the heat, saying the song was being widely discussed because of the criticism.
But some from Jazz Multimedia, declining to be named, said that the song had stirred controversy given the timing of its release – just before Ramadan.
The choreography and the song itself are great, they said.
Nakash Aziz and Jonita sang the song composed by Jeet Ganguli and written by Pranjol.
Directed by Baba Yadav, “Boss 2: Back To Rule”, is an Indo-Bangla joint production involving West Bengal movie star Jeet’s new production company Jeetz Film Works and Walzen Media Works.
It is scheduled to be released on Eid–ul-Fitr. The new installation is sequel to 2013 “Boss: Born to Rule” and picks up from where the first movie – a remake of a Telegu film – ended.

Upon the video’s release, severe backlash from some groups resulted in actor Nusraat Faria attacked vociferously on social media and calls for boycotting the film’s distributor Jaaz Multimedia.
The situation took a turn for the worse when two Supreme Court lawyers sent the producer a legal notice to remove the video from all social media platforms for “hurting religious sentiments.”
One of the complainants, Supreme Court lawyer Md Hujjatul Islam Khan, said Jaaz Multimedia removed the song from their Youtube channel on Tuesday.
He said: “We pitched two issues in the legal notice. The first was to remove the song from Youtube and the second was to cut that item song out from the film.”
“We will track of their progress. If the song is not removed, my client may file a writ petition with the High Court,” said Hujjatul, who was also a counsel to condemned war criminal and BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury.

Canada is experiencing the fastest rate of ethnic change of any country in the Western world, say international demographers.
Almost seven of 10 Metro Vancouver residents will be visible minorities, or non-whites, in less than two decades, says Eric Kaufmann, a professor at University of London, Birkbeck, citing Statistics Canada projections.
In addition, Kaufmann said, University of Laval professor Patrice Dion has worked with Statistics Canada officials to develop projections that suggest Canada as a whole, at the current rate of immigration, will be almost 80 per cent non-white in less than a century.
While the rapid pace of change likely will not hurt Canada’s economy, Kaufmann said, it will continue to have great effect on the ethnic make-up of cities such as Greater Toronto and Metro Vancouver.
These two Canadian cities will soon, or already have, become “majority minority,” a term describing places in which one or more ethnic minority (relative to the country’s population) make up a majority of the local population.
A 2017 Statistics Canada report, titled Immigration and Diversity: Population Projections, forecasts the number of Canadians with visible minority status will “increase more rapidly than the rest of the population” and “could more than double by 2036 to between 12.8 million and 16.3 million.”
The cities that will have the highest levels of visible minorities by 2036 will be Greater Toronto, Metro Vancouver, Calgary, Abbotsford-Mission, Edmonton and Winnipeg.
Non-whites already make up almost half the residents of Greater Toronto and Metro Vancouver.
But Statistics Canada projects the working-age population of Greater Toronto will expand to roughly 71 per cent non-white by 2036, while Metro Vancouver’s working-age population will be more than 66 per cent non-white. Abbotsford-Mission’s portion will be 52 per cent.
Meanwhile, Victoria and Kelowna will remain less than 25 per cent non-white. So will Quebec, the Maritimes and rural Canada…………
Meanwhile, Canada is undergoing “the fastest rate of ethnic change of any country in the Western world,” Kaufmann said, describing how 300,000 immigrants are arriving each year in a country of 35 million people, with four in five of those immigrants being visible minorities.
“The United States’ per capita immigration rate is only one-third to one-half as fast as Canada’s. … At the same time (U.S. President Donald) Trump has promised to reduce America’s inflows by half,” Kaufmann said.
“Europe is also generally tightening inflows and only 300,000 non-Europeans enter the European Union, population 510 million, each year. Most immigrant-receiving Western European states will be at least three-quarters European origin in 2050.”
In Canada, whites currently make up about 80 per cent of the population.
Kaufmann, however, drew attention to a study led by the University of Laval’s Patrice Dion and Statistics Canada official Eric Caron-Malenfant that projects that by 2106, the vast majority of Canada’s population will be descendants of immigrants who arrived after 2006.
Assuming that four in five immigrants during that time period will continue to be non-white, Kaufmann projected that by 2106 whites will account for between 12 to 38 per cent of the population.
“I think a reasonable middle conclusion is that Canada will be 20 per cent white, 65 per cent non-white and 15 per cent mixed race by 2106,” he said.
“Canada will probably become a ‘majority-minority’ country around 2060.”

SAUDI ARABIA – Car bomb explodes in eastern Saudi Arabia: TV
A car bomb exploded in Qatif city in eastern Saudi Arabia on Thursday, Saudi-owned Al-Arabiya television reported, without giving any details on casualties.
A resident contacted by telephone said he heard a blast and saw smoke rising above an area that police had blocked off. Saudi authorities were not immediately available for comment.
Photos sent over social media showed a body apparently completely burned being pulled from the wreckage of a car. The authenticity of the photos could not immediately be verified.
Qatif, home to a large Shi’ite Muslim population, has been a flashpoint between the Sunni Muslim government and Shi’ites complaining of discrimination.

“THE Bank of England has inflated a mammoth asset bubble with its staggering money-printing programme and has now backed itself into a dangerous corner, a top investment manager has warned.
British households are suffering surging inflation that could be tackled by raising interest rates, if policymakers led by Governor Mark Carney raised interest rates, according to David Roberts fund manager at Kames Capital.
The Bank is scraping around for excuses to keep interest rates low for as long as possible, including blaming Britain’s vote to leave the European Union, he said.
But the real reason is the Bank’s quantitative easing programme, which has injected £435billion into the economy since 2009 by buying Government debts – known as bonds – said Mr Roberts.
The Bank of England along with central banks across the world now have added almost $18trillion (£14trn) to their balance sheets over the past 10 years, pushing up bond prices.
Raising interest rates risks popping the huge bubble that has been created in bonds.
Record low rates have also helped inflate house prices and borrowing, with markets now baring worrying similarities to 2008, according to Mr Roberts.
He said: “Central bankers globally have expanded their balance sheets to nearly $18trn in the past decade, a sum greater than US GDP.
“They have created the mother of all asset bubbles across most financial asset classes and that, coupled with the ongoing need to fund ever-larger government deficits, means they seek any excuse to keep rates as low as possible for as long as possible.
”Apparently, the main reason for not raising rates in the UK recently was because consumers would face a squeeze this year from the impact of higher inflation, all of which was attributed to a weaker sterling.
“However, if Carney really worried about the squeeze on household income, firstly in part this is a situation he created and secondly, he could help reverse it by raising interest rates.”
Mr Roberts added: “Of secondary concern to the Bank is consumer indebtedness.
“Again, a modest rate increase now can act as a brake on borrowing and curb the worst of bubble mentality excess.
“Brexit and record low interest rates have now sparked renewed concerns about consumer indebtedness and a return to record house prices, and the Bank, along with most central banks, now admits to being worried at the level of consumer debt.

“Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has criticized the U.S. State Department over reports that it would not host a dinner ending the day’s fasting during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
Erdogan said Thursday that the decision not to host an Iftar dinner amounted to discrimination and was causing Turkey’s “views on the United States to change.” He was speaking at an Iftar dinner in Ankara.
U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson turned down an initial proposal to hold an Iftar dinner but was still considering other possibilities for recognizing the occasion, according to State Department officials.
Erdogan said: “Did you not say you did not oppose freedom of religion? What is this that you are doing?””

Reunification Only Way to Defuse Korea Crisis

Barack Obama’s foreign-policy failures, and those of his predecessors, regarding North Korea, are coming back to bedevil Donald Trump’s new presidency. Trump administration spokesmen have rightly said that Obama’s policy of “strategic patience,” a synonym for doing nothing, is over. But they have not yet articulated a replacement strategy.
Analysts across the political spectrum now believe that North Korea is perilously close to fabricating nuclear devices — at least five of which have already been detonated — small enough to mount on intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of striking targets within the continental United States. Some estimates posit this capability as early as 2018, with targets closer to the Korean Peninsula, including Japan and Hawaii likely at risk earlier.
Time is thus in desperately short supply, one of the fruits of 25 years of wasted efforts negotiating with Pyongyang. The harsh reality is that Kim Jung Un and his predecessors were never going to be chit-chatted out of their nuclear-weapons program, which they have always regarded as essential to regime survival. Neither persuasion nor coercion, nor any mix of the two, has succeeded before, and we have no reason to believe they will start succeeding now.
There are any number of suggestions about how to increase military pressure on North Korea, including scenarios for pre-emptive attacks against its nuclear and ballistic-missile assets. Certainly, no American president should be willing to countenance the risk to innocent U.S. civilians, and those of our vulnerable friends and allies in the region, that Pyongyang’s erratic leadership increasingly poses. Moreover, we must be sure China understands President Trump’s determination — reportedly explained in person to Chinese President Xi Jinping during the recent Mar-a-Lago summit — not to be held hostage by Pyongyang.
Unfortunately, however, years of savage Obama Administration defense budget cuts have rendered U.S. military options far from optimal. Obama underfunded national missile-defense programs, thereby rendering this last line of defense woefully inadequate compared to how President George W. Bush originally conceived it.
Similarly, our ability to neutralize North Korea’s military threats to the South, which have long worried United States and South Korean decision-makers, is severely challenged.
Since an American president’s highest obligation is ensuring the safety of our own citizens, pre-emptive or other military action against Pyongyang must always be a live option. And even though the time for peacefully eliminating the North’s nuclear threat is rapidly disappearing, there is still a diplomatic strategy worth trying. Indeed, it is now the only option with any prospect for long-term resolution of the ongoing Korean crisis.
Reunification of the two Koreas, effectively ending the North Korean state and merging it into the political and economic structures of the South, is both feasible and desirable. There is simply no point in further negotiations with Pyongyang, nor will anything be achieved by urging Beijing to strong-arm Pyongyang.
For decades, China has played a double game, asserting its opposition to a North Korean nuclear capability, but doing little or nothing to prevent it. Beijing has worried that effectively pressuring Pyongyang, which Beijing has the undeniable capacity to do, will collapse the regime itself, producing massive refugee flows into China and a long-planned U.S.-South Korean armed intervention, leaving China facing American military forces across the Yalu River.
China didn’t relish that prospect in 1950, nor does it today. Instead, President Trump should persuade Beijing that its own best interests lie in directing its economic leverage toward swift, orderly reunification of the Peninsula. China and the U.S. could jointly facilitate this process through mutually applied pressure and communication with the North’s captive population.
Most significantly, America has no interest in a military presence along China’s border, just as it prefers today not to have its troops in fixed positions along the DMZ. Instead, we have long sought to concentrate our forces near Busan, making them available for rapid redeployment as events might require.
There is a modus vivendi here acceptable to China, although negotiations on this and other reunification issues will undoubtedly be difficult.
Korea’s post-World War II partition along the 38th Parallel in 1945 was always intended to be temporary.
The Cold War intervened, however, followed by the Korean War, and the Peninsula’s partition seemed frozen, as did Germany’s. But just as communism’s European collapse led to German reunification, so too, in time, will the partition of Korea be reversed.
The real question is whether it will end peacefully, with a minimum of turmoil and disruption, or whether it will end catastrophically with considerable loss of human life. China’s leaders, scholars, and policy analysts are split over the reunification issue.
Increasingly, however, key Chinese strategists have come to conclude that the Kim family’s authoritarian dynasty is an ugly piece of baggage, of little real strategic utility to China, but one that brings with it enormous burdens and risks.
Had we opened quiet negotiations with China over reuniting Korea a decade ago, the problem might already be resolved. Starting talks only now places the diplomacy in a race with North Korea’s rapidly advancing nuclear capabilities, with the outcome far from certain.
Nonetheless, since we are clearly and correctly unwilling to accept a nuclear North Korea with global strike capabilities, and since we wish to avoid if possible outright military action against the North, reunification is plainly the most desirable outcome.
Richard: The solution spelled out requires China to put pressure on NORK and force the Kim family to step down from power and left NORK reunify with the South. I can see how this could have worked if we had tried it long before now but think that the Chinese won’t make up their minds and won’t tell us what the bottom line concessions they will take to let a Capitalist democracy exist on their border. I am afraid that they would want things like the US to let them take total Control of The South China Sea and they would probably also want us to give them permission to seize Taiwan by military force without interfering. Both ot those demands are unacceptable to the US because they would require our betraying strong allies. Given 10 years of negotiations we could probably talk them into a more reasonable position but thanks to Obama and the Dems we don’t have 10 years. Personally I don’t think we have 10 months and we may not have 10 weeks.

Feds Refuse to Shut Down Free Speech Rally Despite Portland Mayor’s Plea
The federal agency that issued a permit for a pro-Trump free speech rally in Portland planned for Sunday will not revoke the permit after Mayor Ted Wheeler called on the agency to do so.
Wheeler made the request in the wake of the double murder of two heroes protecting teens from racist and islamophobic vitriol on the MAX. <em(Richard: FYI, the nutbucket who murdered the two men is a supporter of Berni Saunders, hardly a right winger.)
The United States General Services Administration announced Wednesday morning its decision to allow the event to continue, saying in a statement, “since the permit was lawfully obtained to assemble at this federal location, GSA has no basis to revoke the permit.”
The agency oversees the Terry Schrunk Plaza property across from Portland City Hall, where the rally is set to take place.
The organizer of Sunday’s event, Vancouver native Joey Gibson, said he plans to continue Sunday’s demonstration with or without a permit. Gibson applied for the permit on May 10 and received approval for his demonstration on May 15.

Liberal ideology conceives of “safe spaces” in the context of alleged white patriarchy, but there was a real need for a “safe space” in Britain’s Manchester Arena on May 22, when 22-year-old terrorist Salman Abedi detonated his nail- and screw-filled suicide bomb after a concert by teen idol Ariana Grande. What was the “progressive” answer to yet another instance of Islamic terrorism in the West? Feckless calls for resisting hate, pledges of renewed diversity, and little else.
A rethinking of immigration policies is off the table. Nothing that an Islamic terrorist can do will ever shake the left-wing commitment to open borders—not mass sexual assaults, not the deliberate slaughter of gays, and not, as in Manchester last week, the killing of young girls. The real threat that radical Islam poses to feminism and gay rights must be disregarded in order to transform the West by Third World immigration. Defenders of the open-borders status quo inevitably claim that if a terrorist is a second-generation immigrant, like Abedi, immigration policy has nothing to do with his attack. (Abedi’s parents emigrated to Britain from Libya; his immediate family in Manchester lived in the world’s largest Libyan enclave outside Africa itself.) Media Matters ridiculed a comment about the Manchester bombing by Fox News host Ainsley Earhardt with the following headline: fox news host suggests ‘open borders’ are to blame for manchester attack carried out by british native.
Earhardt had asked how to prevent “what’s happening in Europe, with all these open borders, they’re not vetting, they’re opening their borders to families like this, and this is how they’re paid back in return.” Pace Media Matters, a second-generation Muslim immigrant with a zeal for suicide bombing is as much of an immigration issue as a first-generation immigrant with a terrorist bent. The fact that second-generation immigrants are not assimilating into Western culture makes immigration policy more, not less, of a pressing matter. It is absurd to suggest that Abedi picked up his terrorist leanings from reading William Shakespeare and William Wordsworth, rather than from the ideology of radical Islam that has been imported into Britain by mass immigration.

Government watchdog Judicial Watch has found a number of new emails belonging to former Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton containing classified information and showing favors being done for a Russia connected organization through the Clinton Foundation while she was Secretary of State. The emails were obtained through a lawsuit against the Department and a recent court order.
“The new Abedin emails also reveal additional instances in which Clinton’s then- scheduler Lona Valmoro forwarded the former secretary of state’s detailed daily schedule to top Clinton Foundation officials. The new emails also reveal a number of favors that were requested and carried out,” Judicial Watch found. “In May 2010, Abedin tells Band that she has ‘hooked up’ people from the Russian American Foundation with ‘the right people’ at the State Department after Abedin received a request from Russian American Foundation Vice President Rina Kirshner, forwarded by Clinton Foundation donor Eddie Trump (no relation to President Trump).”
