  3. Inside Obama’s Secret Outreach to Russia
The U.S. has been working behind the scenes for months to forge a new working relationship with Russia, even enlisting Henry Kissinger.
    by Josh Rogin

President Barack Obama’s administration has been working behind the scenes for months to forge a new working relationship with Russia, despite the fact that Russian President Vladimir Putin has shown little interest in repairing relations with Washington or halting his aggression in neighboring Ukraine.

This month, Obama’s National Security Council finished an extensive and comprehensive review of U.S policy toward Russia that included dozens of meetings and input from the State Department, Defense Department and several other agencies, according to three senior administration officials. At the end of the sometimes-contentious process, Obama made a decision to continue to look for ways to work with Russia on a host of bilateral and international issues while also offering Putin a way out of the stalemate over the crisis in Ukraine.

“I don’t think that anybody at this point is under the impression that a wholesale reset of our relationship is possible at this time, but we might as well test out what they are actually willing to do,” a senior administration official told me. “Our theory of this all along has been, let’s see what’s there. Regardless of the likelihood of success.”

Paris black feminist festival ‘prohibited’ to whites sparks outrage

    PARIS (AFP) –

Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo on Sunday called for a black feminist festival in the French capital to be banned, saying it was “prohibited to white people.”

The first edition of the Nyansapo Festival, due to run from July 28 to 30 at a cultural centre in Paris, bills itself as “an event rooted in blackfeminism, activism, and on (a) European scale.”

Four-fifths of the festival area will be set aside as a “non-mixed” space “for black women,” according to its website in French.

Another space will be a “non-mixed” area “for black people” regardless of gender. Another space would be “open to all.”

The English version of the site does not use the word “non-mixed,” but “reserved.”

The Defense Ministry said Monday that it conducted a successful experimental test of its rocket propulsion system from a military base located in the center of Israel.

Israel has a multi-layered aerial defense system, which includes the Iron Dome, Arrow and David’s Sling, and missile system tests such as these are not uncommon. Rocket propulsion systems are designed to launch large systems such as satellites, ballistic missiles and large ground to air missiles.

  6. Desperately seeking ‘unity’: The non-unifying priority of the modern left
    By J.E. Dyer May 28, 2017

Can a thing be both banal and profound? I imagine most people, if they thought about it long enough, would say, “Of course.”

Things may seem banal to us because we’re accustomed to them, and rarely have to think about them. But that need not make them any less profound.

So it seems to be with a major discovery made by a team of British researchers during the U.S. 2016 presidential election. They studied 900 voters who were split as to the candidates they preferred – Clinton or Trump – and were split as to whether they thought their preferred candidate was likely to win. Some Trump supporters thought he would win; some didn’t. Same for Clinton.

The researchers observed the voters’ reactions to polling information that seemed to confirm or “disconfirm” their opinions about whether the candidates would win. And what they discovered was that desirability bias was a much stronger motive for the voters’ reactions than confirmation bias.

In other words, a Clinton supporter might think Hillary was going to lose. That was the individual’s operational expectation. But the person was still more likely to take onboard positive polling information about Clinton’s prospects than to take onboard – internalize, accept, agree with – negative information about her prospects.

  8. Britain’s jihadi problem much bigger than previously estimated/strong>
By LU Staff May 28, 2017

Up to 23,000 people have emerged on the radar of British counter-terror agencies, according to figures released Friday by U.K. security forces.

British authorities revealed that 500 investigations into 3,000 individuals were ongoing in the wake of Monday’s terror attack in Manchester. Security sources claim that another 20,000 people have been considered “subjects of interest” at some point in time, the Press Association reported Saturday.

Britain’s domestic counter-intelligence and security agency MI5 considered Salman Abedi, the suicide bomber in the attack, a “former subject of interest” who was “subject to review.” Despite being flagged to authorities on at least five separate occasions, they did not regard Abedi as an imminent threat.

Khalid Masood, the man who killed five people in the March Westminster attack, was in the same category of people who are no longer subject to any surveillance due to a lack of resources.

“All those people are in the mix and they have to be looked at,” Security Minister Ben Wallace told BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme Friday, according to the Press Association. “All of that is predominately underpinned by intelligence … Unfortunately the hardest part is we’ve got to convert intelligence into evidence if we actually want to deprive people of their liberty or take certain steps.”

The British parliament announced plans to reform its prison system last year, as the country’s maximum facilities have turned into “jihadi training camps.” The “most subversive extremist prisoners” will be kept away from the general population to reduce the risk of radicalization

“Coup militias in Yemen have staged multiple attempts for running and laundering millions of counterfeit Yemeni Riyals, as well as illegal arms, a military source said.

The trafficking largely was directed towards Sa’ada, where the Houthi insurgency leader Abdul-Malik Badreddin al-Houthi is based. It also comes a few days after government forces seized hundreds of millions of counterfeit cash in the Jawf province, northeast the country.

“The Philippines military said on Monday it was close to retaking a southern city held for a seventh day by Islamist militants, as helicopters unleashed more rockets on positions held by the rebels aligned with Islamic State.

The clashes in Marawi city with the Maute militia, a group hardly known a year ago, has become the biggest security challenge of Rodrigo Duterte’s 11-month presidency, with gunmen resisting air and ground assaults and still in control of central parts of a city of 200,000 people.

The military said the rebels may be getting help from “sympathetic elements” and fighters they had freed from jail during the rampage that started on Tuesday and caught the military by surprise.

“Our ground commanders have assured that the end is almost there,” military spokesman, Restituto Padilla told reporters.

“We can control who comes in and who comes out, who moves around and who doesn’t. And we’re trying to isolate all these pockets of resistance.”

More than 100 people have been killed, most of them militants, according to the military, and most of the city’s residents have fled.

The military said the Maute group was still present in nine of the city’s 96 Barangays, or communities…”

The defendants, including six generals, are accused of crimes against the state and held responsible for the deaths of 89 people who died in the city during the attempt. They face life imprisonment if convicted.

U.S.-based Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen, whom Turkey accuses of orchestrating the coup, is also named as a defendant in the trial and is being tried in absentia along with eight other defendants who are on the run.

The trial, which started Monday, is one of dozens across Turkey against suspected Gulen followers who are accused of playing a part in the coup. Gulen has denied involvement.”

    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/pakistanis-protest-power-cuts-protester-killed-clashes-47700388

“Violence erupted at demonstrations against power cuts in several towns in northwestern Pakistan on Monday, leading to clashes with police that killed a protester and wounded several, officials said.

Hundreds of protesters burned and rampaged through government offices and police checkpoints, snatching valuables and police weapons, said Deputy Commissioner Malakand district, Zafar Ali Shah.

They tried to burn a main power station in the town of Dargai, he said. Similar clashes took place in Peshawar, Charsadda and Swat.

In Peshawar, protesters took to the streets for the third day of rallies and roadblocks, said police official Nasir Khan. At least two offices of the power supply department were ransacked, he said. Provincial lawmaker Fazl-e-Rabbi who led the rallies in Peshawar, said the protests would continue until the federal government ends disparity in the power distribution.

“We have complained to the power distributors to end the unscheduled outages, but they’re not listening to us,” said Shah, the deputy commissioner.

The protesters have been angered by the daily 10-12 hours of power cuts in the summer heat. The fact that Muslims fast and abstain from drinking water in daylight hours during the holy month of Ramadan has made things worse, Shah said.

“More airstrikes and artillery shelling on Monday hit the northern Syrian city of Raqqa, the de facto capital of the Islamic State group, as U.S.-backed fighters pushed closer to the extremists’ stronghold, activists said.

The developments come ahead of what is expected to be a major battle for Raqqa in the coming weeks.

Airstrikes have intensified over the past days as U.S.-backed fighters have pushed on toward the city, getting closer to it from all sides. The Kurdish-led Syria Democratic Forces captured dozens of towns and villages under the cover of airstrikes by the U.S.-led coalition since November, when the group began an operation entitled Euphrates Wrath, aiming to eventually surround and capture Raqqa…”

Backed by the U.S.-led international coalition, Iraq last October launched a wide-scale military offensive to recapture Mosul and the surrounding areas, with various Iraqi military, police and paramilitary forces taking part in the operation. Police said in a statement Monday that a man with both Romanian and Hungarian citizenship is also being investigated for migrant smuggling.

The statement said that police noticed a car with Hungarian plates which stopped 500 meters (550 yards) from the border with Hungary on Saturday evening.

There were five Syrian and Iraqi citizens, aged 23 to 32, and six minors aged 1 to 10 in the car, traveling with temporary asylum-seeker documents.

They told border police they wanted to illegally cross the Romania-Hungary border to arrive in the visa-free Schengen zone. Hungary is a member of Schengen while Romania isn’t.”

  18. Study Finds Ethnic Diversity Bad for Social Cohesion (breitbart, May 29, 2017)
    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/05/29/study-ethnic-diversity-bad-sweden/

“New research from Gothenburg University on solidarity in Sweden backs up evidence from previous studies that ethnic diversity is bad for social cohesion.

Surveying 9,800 randomly selected people, the university’s SOM Institute looked at the degree to which people in Sweden are able to feel a connection with people who differ from themselves.

Researchers found that, outside of their own group, respondents are most inclined to feel an affinity with people whose education vastly differs from their own.

“Most also feel a relatively large affinity with those who have very different political views, a different sexual orientation or whose financial situation differs from their own,” science and technology magazine Forskning reports.

Respondents said they feel the least affinity with people with different ethnic backgrounds, who practice a different religion, or who were brought up in other cultures.

Overall, however, researchers said the study shows that “social cohesion is strong” in Sweden, because 95 per cent of respondents said they feel like a part of society.

The groups which were least likely to profess a sense of belonging to Swedish society were people on low incomes, and people who hold citizenship of nations other than Sweden.

Jesper Strömbäck, professor of journalism and political communication at the University of Gothenburg, said he was surprised the study found social cohesion in Sweden to be so high.

“The increase in income inequality and the refugee crisis has created a polarisation in politics and in the public debate in recent years,” he told Forskning. “Many people had probably expected the research would find that cohesion was lower.”

The SOM Institute’s findings that people feel less solidarity with ethnic groups other than their own add to a growing body of research showing ethnic diversity has a negative effect on societal cohesion.

U.S. researchers who in 2013 showed homogeneous or highly segregated neighbourhoods are almost always more cohesive than those which are diverse, reported that diversity prevents “the formation of dense interpersonal networks that are necessary to promote sense of community”.

Similarly, 2014 research from Australia found diversity had a negative impact on social cohesion and caused residents to “hunker down”, avoiding engagement with the community.

Researchers said their work supports the theory of Robert Putnam, whose U.S. study yielded similar results, that ethnic diversity erodes trust.

And a 2014 study by the University of North Carolina which examined regions across Europe, found that “an increase in immigration is related to a decrease in social trust”.”

  20. Merkel says EU cannot rely on US and Britain any more

(UPI) — Chancellor Angela Merkel said Sunday that Germany no longer can “rely fully” on its allies, including President Donald Trump, who refused to commit the United States to the Paris climate accord during the G7 summit.

Merkel, campaigning in Munich for a fourth, four-year term in the September elections, did not name the country or leader but she clearly was referring to the United States.

Trump said Saturday he will decide this week whether to commit to the goals of the 195-nation climate agreement in 2015 that was endorsed by former U.S. President Barack Obama.

Trump said Germany is “very bad” for its trade practices, including sales of autos, and the country was one of the NATO members Trump singled out for not adequately supporting the alliance financially in defense with 2 percent of their gross domestic product.

Despite the fact that two Muslim brothers were caught with a weapons arsenal of grenades, assault weapons and bomb materials in their car earlier this month, one of them was released – another blatant refusal to act on a potential threat, as witnessed prior to several recent jihadist attacks … including those in Manchester, England, and Orlando, Florida.

On May 11, 27-year-old Abdullah Alrfahe and his 26-year-old brother Majid Alrfahe were arrested in north Minneapolis after a good Samaritan asked them to stop throwing trash out of their car. From just outside a government-subsidized senior citizens’ complex at a nearby park, the elderly man was aggressively approached and threatened by the two Muslims, who scared him away while calling him the N-word and threatening him.

  23. McCain: Putin ‘Greatest Challenge We Have’

Visiting US Senator John McCain told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (AuBC) on Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin is a bigger threat to global security than the Islamic State group. (May 29)

    • Visiting US Senator John McCain told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (AuBC) on Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin is a bigger threat to global security than the Islamic State group.

Note carefully how finely McCain minces his words. He compares Putin to “the Islamic State group”. In that precise context, he is mostly right.

Due to Political Correctness, McCain cannot tell the whole truth. As in, the danger represented by Putin shrinks into insignificance when compared to ISLAM, which is the dominant global threat.

McCain’s ability to make any useful contribution towards American or global policy has long since vanished.

      • I have a lot of problems with McCain starting with his committing treason on various issues, continuing through his ego that comes close to being as large as Hillary’s and ending with his condensation to the people he is suppose to represent.

The Western alliance’s troop buildup in Eastern Europe has Moscow spooked.

BRATISLAVA, Slovakia — Russia would be forced to use nuclear weapons in any conflict in which U.S. or NATO forces entered eastern Ukraine, a member of Russia’s parliament told an international gathering of government security officials on Sunday.

“On the issue of NATO expansion on our borders, at some point I heard from the Russian military — and I think they are right — If U.S. forces, NATO forces, are, were, in the Crimea, in eastern Ukraine, Russia is undefendable militarily in case of conflict without using nuclear weapons in the early stage of the conflict,” Russian parliamentarian Vyacheslav Alekseyevich Nikonov told attendees at the GLOBSEC 2017 forum in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Russian military leaders have discussed Moscow’s willingness to use nuclear weapons in a conflict with military leaders in NATO, as part of broader and increasingly contentious conversations about the alliance’s expansion, Nikonov later told Defense One.

What legacy did Australia’s former Grand Mufti, Sheikh Taj Din al-Hilali — named “Muslim Man of the Year” in 2005 and the country’s most senior, longest-serving (1988-2007) Muslim cleric — leave behind?

In 1988, when Hilali was imam of the largest mosque in Australia, he gave a speech at Sydney University in which he described Jews as the cause of all wars and the existential enemy of humanity.

In July 2006, he called the Holocaust a “Zionist lie” and referred to Israel as a “cancer”.

In October 2006 — insinuating that the long prison sentences handed to Sydney’s Lebanese gang-rapists for attacking young teenage girls in the year 2000, were unfair — he compared Australian women who do not wear the Islamic veil to meat left uncovered in the streets and then eaten by cats. During his long career, Hilali also praised suicide bombers as heroes and called the September 11, 2001 terror attacks in the United States “God?s work against oppressors” and “the work of 100 percent American gangs”.

At the time, Hilali’s principal adviser and spokesperson, Keysar Trad, wrote, “The criminal dregs of white society colonised this country and… the descendants of these criminal dregs tell us that they are better than us.” Trad subsequently served as president of the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils — the national umbrella organization, which represents Australian Muslims at national and international level — from July 2016 until May 2017.

Hard on the heels of Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas’s assurances to US President Donald Trump that he is raising Palestinians on a “culture of peace,” he continues to glorify terrorists who have Jewish blood on their hands.

Abbas, who met with Trump in Bethlehem on May 23, told reporters that he was committed to working with the new US administration to achieve a “historic peace deal with Israel.” Abbas also announced his readiness to become a “partner in the war on terrorism in our region and the world.” He claimed that he and his Palestinian Authority have been promoting “tolerance and coexistence, and spreading a culture of peace and renouncing violence.”

A video advertisement that depicts a would-be suicide bomber confronted by the faithful has gone viral two days into the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

The video featuring Emirati pop star Hussain al-Jassmi has registered over two million views on Zain’s YouTube page and more than 4,000 shares on Facebook.

“Worship ALLAH with love, not terror” is the main message of the three-minute advert posted Friday online by Kuwaiti telecommunications giant Zain, which operates across the Middle East.

    https://www.alaraby.co.uk/english/news/2017/5/29/bin-ladens-son-touts-al-qaeda-comeback-as-is-collapses

“An audio recording believed to be the voice of Osama Bin Laden’s youngest son has emerged online, raising the spectre that al-Qaeda is attempting a comeback as the Islamic State group suffers heavy losses in Iraq and Syria.

The audio recording of Hamza Bin Laden, 28, was first aired on May 13 and appeared online across extremist Islamic websites calling for attacks against the West, The Washington Post reported.

“Prepare diligently to inflict crippling losses on those who have disbelieved,” the voice says. “Follow in the footsteps of martyrdom-seekers before you.”

A Middle Eastern security official who spoke to the Post said that using Hamza Bin Laden as a figurehead to re-launch the group is a highly symbolic, and could be a powerful recruitment tool.

“Al-Qaeda is trying to use the moment — [with] Daesh being under attack — to offer jihadists a new alternative,” the official said, speaking on the condition of anonymity…”

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/05/29/erdogan-moves-ban-word-arena-sports-stadiums-un-turkish/

“Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey’s president, has launched a crackdown on the word “arena”, calling on sports stadiums to stop using the word because it is un-Turkish.

Stressing the need for Turkey to develop its “own language”, Mr Erdogan said last week that he was implementing a plan to remove the word “arena” from sports stadiums.

“We are going to remove the word ‘arena’ from stadiums,” he said in a speech. “Of course you know what they used to do in arenas in the past? They would let people be shred to pieces. We are going to remove the word ‘arena’ from stadiums.”…”

    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/810631/Sweden-Democrats-oust-PM-establishment-election-negotiations

“SWEDEN’S eurosceptic party the Sweden Democrats are on the brink of gaining parliamentary power as its rising popularity strengthens its hand.

Paula Bieler, of the Sweden Democrats, told SVT’s Agenda programme the establishment must give the eurosceptic party a seat at the table after the next general election unless they want their PM candidate ousted.

She said it would be out of the question to support a prime minister candidate without being promised influence over the next cabinet.

She said: “It is unreasonable to support a Prime Minster candidate, if we are the largest party, without negotiations.”

And as the SVT host asked if that meant shutting down Anna Kinberg Batra, the Moderate Party leader’s bid for the top job, Ms Bieler said they would oust her before she even took office, if the Sweden Democrats aren’t given a voice.

The Eurosceptic politician said: “If we don’t have any form of negotiations or no insight into what kind of Government she is planning on forming, it is unreasonable for us to support her as Prime Minister.”….”

    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/latest-russian-egyptian-ministers-meet-cairo-47708208

“Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi has ratified a law which heavily restricts the registration and work of non-governmental organizations.

The law, which el-Sissi signed on Monday, gives security agencies extensive power over the financing and activities of NGOs.

International rights groups described the law as draconian and a “death warrant” to rights groups, saying it would effectively lead to the shutdown of many groups. The law comes as part of el-Sissi’s wider crackdown on dissent since he rose to power in 2013, when he led a military overthrow of his Islamist predecessor Mohamed Morsi…”

    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/pieces-pig-plot-future-mosque-germany-47707038

“Nine wooden spikes topped with parts of a dead pig were planted on a plot of land where Muslims are planning to build a mosque in the eastern city of Erfurt, German police said Monday.

The 1.5 meter-tall (nearly 5-foot) stakes were topped with half of a pig’s head, pig feet, and pig bowels among other things, the German news agency dpa reported. Police say whoever was responsible is unknown.

Pigs are considered unclean by Muslims.

There have been repeated protests against the construction of the Ahmadiyya mosque in Erfurt, including one by protesters who erected large Christian crosses on a neighboring property.

A spokesman for the Erfurt community, Mohammed Suleman Malik, said in a statement to The Associated Press that “while such acts do not make us lose our composure … we find it very sad that people go down to such a level.””

“Chancellor Angela Merkel cautioned Monday against seeking “simple answers” to complex global issues, a day after suggesting that Europe’s relationship with the U.S. had shifted significantly following NATO and G-7 meetings with President Donald Trump that produced disappointing results…”

    • This is the usual insistence upon “nuanced” diplomacy and politics that has brought Germany and Europe to their collective knees. These traitors will insist that nuanced approaches are the only way to go, right up to when the scimitar strikes their necks.

The U.S. is casting its net over the desert between Iraq and Syria, Saudi Arabia and Jordan to install military bases and power-structures that will guarantee major influence in the area for the foreseeable future. A part of that plan is to develop Sunni proxy forces that will keep the government forces of Damascus and Baghdad out of the area. Another part is to privatize important infrastructure to keep it under direct U.S. control.[…]

  39. Manchester terror attack: ‘Trainee pilot’ arrested as police raid addresses in Sussex (express, May 29, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/810735/manchester-terror-attack-trainee-pilot-arrested-shoreham-by-sea-sussex

“A “TRAINEE pilot” was arrested yesterday, as the race to dismantle suicide bomber Salman Abedi’s terror network spread to the South Coast.

The 23-year-old man was detained in the early hours in the seaside town of Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex.

He was held on suspicion of terror offences after a raid on a flat above a parade of shops in the town centre.

Neighbours said the man was called “Aladine” and was training to be a pilot at Shoreham airfield – also known as Brighton City Airport. Violet Mainda, who owns a hair salon beneath the flat, described him as a “nice jovial” man who had a girlfriend and had lived there for about a year…”

  40. CNN’s W. Kamau Bell: Islam Part of America’s Founding (breitbart, May 29, 2017)
    http://www.breitbart.com/big-journalism/2017/05/29/cnns-crusade-declare-islam-part-americas-founding/

“CNN’s W. Kamau Bell devoted a recent episode of his series United Shades of America to exploring Muslim and Arab communities.

Aside from some interesting vignettes, the program is left-wing, anti-Trump propaganda that firmly establishes the network’s political bias. Bell also serves up some historical distortions of the sort spoonfed to undergraduates on politically-correct campuses, such as the claim that Islam has always been present in the U.S.

“Islam has always been part of the American fabric,” one Muslim man in Detroit tells Bell at an anti-Trump event. “A lot of people think that Islam is from a foreign country, or is a foreign religion. It’s not — it’s very American.” He goes on to criticize “those more violent voices in our society” — and he does not mean radical Islamists. Bell is so impressed that he asks the man, “When are you running for mayor?”, comparing him to a “young Barack Obama.”

It was Obama who told the Muslim world in his Cairo speech in 2009: “Islam has always been a part of America’s story.” He offered a dubious proof: “The first nation to recognize my country was Morocco.” He also cited the Treaty of Tripoli, which was essentially an agreement to pay a bribe to Muslim pirates who had made a practice of kidnapping Americans.

For CNN, the argument that Islam has “always” been present in the U.S. rests largely on the claim that a significant minority of black slaves were Muslim…”

  41. Leading Muslim Group Calls for Ramadan ‘Jihad’ Alongside Trump, Farage, May Headshots (breitbart, May 29, 2017)
    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/05/29/leading-muslim-group-calls-ramadan-jihad-alongside-trump-farage-may-headshots/

“A self-described “leading” Muslim group is fundraising on the back of “jihad” in the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, using pictures of President Donald Trump, Brexit leader Nigel Farage, UK Prime Minister Theresa May, and UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson on its material.

The Muslim Public Affairs Council UK (MPACUK) issued a tweet at 1:30pm EST on Monday May 29th with an alleged hadith (story/quote) from the Islamic prophet, Muhammad. It reads: “The best Jihad is the word of Justice in front of the oppressive ruler”.

The tweet, which follows with “This Ramadan Help Us Fight the Good Fight!” as well as “Money = Manpower = ACTION” comes just days after a violent Islamic terrorist killed 22 and injured dozens outside the Manchester Arena in the United Kingdom.

The quote is — as much of the Quran and hadiths are — disputed amongst scholars to its precise meaning, though some agree it means “speak truth to power”. The progenitor of the hadith is also believed to have fabricated information. It is also unclear how Mr. Farage, pictured above, could be considered a “tyrant” while holding no executive office, and indeed how UK PM Theresa May would fit, given her repeated declarations in favour of Islam.

Some may reflect upon the insensitivity of promoting a word or belief system that was used just days before to slaughter innocent people in the West.

Islamic groups in the United Kingdom have also noted how “oppression” or “oppressive rulers” simply means any legal system besides Shariah law, established under an Islamic caliphate…”

  42. Manchester Mayor: Bomber Was A Terrorist, Not A Muslim

Andy Burnham insisted people should not turn on the Muslim community in the aftermath of the Manchester terror attack.

Salman Abedi killed 22 people, including children as young as 8, when he detonated a suicide bomb outside the Manchester Arena on Monday night.

He was born and raised in Manchester to Libyan parents and worshipped in a mosque in Didsbury, not stopped going because the imam was speaking out against ISIS.

But the Mayor of Manchester insisted that this man was a terrorist who had noting to do with Islam.

    http://www.dw.com/en/facebook-slams-proposed-german-anti-hate-speech-social-media-law/a-39021094

“If German Justice Minister Heiko Maas has his way, platforms like Facebook will face fines for hosting illegal content. In a rare direct statement, Facebook says it should not be tasked with “state responsibilities.”

Facebook isn’t happy about a draft law, currently in committee in the Bundestag, that would impose fines on social media platforms if they fail to delete hate speech and other sorts of illegal expression. The German weekly business newspaper Wirtschaftswoche published excerpts from a German-language statement to be released on Monday in which the social media giant went on the attack…”

“The leader of Germany’s domestic security agency (BfV) warned on Monday that Germany is a high priority for terror group Isis.

BfV President Hans-Georg Maaßen said on Monday that Isis has its eyes set on Europe, according to Die Welt.

“At the same time, Germany is becoming more highly prioritized by Isis, according to our assessments,” he said.

Al-Qaeda still remains a serious threat as well, according to Maaßen, adding that the group “is powerful like before and could try to redeem its loss of reputation through new, dramatic terror attacks”.

The intelligence agency estimates there to be around 10,000 Salafists in the country, 670 of whom are considered potentially dangerous…”

“The European Union on Monday extended its sanctions against the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria at least until June 1, 2018 due to ongoing repression of civilians.

The bloc said in a written statement that ”this decision is in line with the EU strategy on Syria, which states that the EU will maintain its restrictive measures against the Syrian regime and its supporters as long as the repression of civilians continues.”

The Council added three ministers to the list of people and entities targeted by an asset freeze and a ban on entering the EU or having relations with it. The list, which has as its first name that of Syrian president Bashar al-Assad as the person responsible for authorizing and overseeing crackdowns on protestors, now includes the names of 240 people and 67 entities including the central bank, the state oil company and the interior and defense ministries.

Sanctions include an embargo on trade and oil, restrictions on some types of investment, a freeze on EU-held assets of the Syrian central bank and a ban on exports of materials and technology that can be used for repression as well as telecommunications surveillance technology.

The EU issued a statement Monday saying that it remained committed to finding a lasting political solution to the conflict in Syria within the existing framework of UN accords…”

“Italy is undergoing a migrant invasion funded by the European Union, anti-immigrant and anti-euro Northern League leader Matteo Salvini said Monday.

“You can’t any longer speak about immigration but about an invasion organised, funded and planned by Brussels with the complicity of Rome, he said.

Salvini said the ruling Democratic Party (PD) as “an accomplice to this invasion along with the (leftwing) cooperatives and the pseudo-aid associations”.

“The calls from Brussels and Strasbourg for respecting the migrant programme are ridiculous.

“I’m waiting fo elections so that Italy can defend its borders again. Give me the interior ministry for three months and you’ll see what order and cleanliness I bring back from north to south all over Italy.

“I won’t wait for Strasbourg, nor Brussels or Merkel”.”

“Italian police has deported an Egyptian terror detainee flagged for proselytism and violent Islamist radicalisation, judicial sources said Monday. Esamm Mohamed Omar Makram, 62, had been inserted in the top level of terror prisoners being monitored.

The Egyptian was taken from a jail in Monza where he was serving one year and one month for squatting and illegally dumping dangerous materials.

Makram was probed in 1995 in Italy’s first investigation into Islamist terror, Operation Sphinx.
Milan police HQ’s immigration office issued a deportation order for “imperative” reasons of public safety and he was put on board an Egyptair flight and escorted by three international guards Sunday night.”
