        • ‘He wanted REVENGE!’ Manchester bomber Salman Abedi’s sister reveals motive for attack

Please don’t let anyone fool you. Even if not a single bomb had struck Syrian soil, the Manchester attack (or others similar to it) would still have happened.

At its core, Islam remains one endless “cycle of violence”. If it wasn’t Syria, it would be the “Palestinians” or whatever stretching back past the crusades.

The central point being that Syrians, Palestinians or the crusades are all just window dressing and merely a convenient excuses to disguise how this sort of violence is intrinsic to Islam and always has been.

Most disheartening of all is the vanishingly few number of people willing to clearly state that, so long as Muslims are in Western lands, these atrocities will continue unabated.

          • Some of the violence goes back before Islam. Savage tribal feuds among nomads, plundering-pirates honor/-shame at best. Pre-Abraham, child sacrifice to Moloch.

            • The violence does go back to pre Christian times, where Islam comes in is in not letting the culture and tribes advance beyond the 7th Century, this locks the violence into the culture. The left (self proclaimed elite) in all western nations are stopping us from reacting in the way that will stop the violence before it spreads. They have hampered our response to the point that the only path left is to rebel against them and at the same time push back against Islam in ways that will ensure our freedom even if they do destroy our civilization.

The left wants the US and Canada to be more like Europe (this would create a class system that would lock them in as our rulers) and are going to regret this wish when we are forced into having a European style revolution that puts them before revolutionary courts being tried for their crimes against civilization.

              • …where Islam comes in is in not letting the culture and tribes advance beyond the 7th Century, this locks the violence into the culture.

Too right, Richard! When Islam closed the “Gates of Ijtihad”, every last dysfunctional and repulsive trait of Islam was cut in stone.

Its (frequently and readily enforced) death-penalty for “blasphemy” has ensured that—whether Sunni or Shiite—Islam’s entirely counterproductive patriarchal and elitist power structures have, not just remained intact as some sort of ossified or uncontested artifact, but exist in a manner that is wholly immune to any meaningful challenge or transformation.

Locked in the autocracy of its theocratic amber, this ideological dinosaur propels every last adherent towards a final collision with Western (or Eastern) cultures whose nuclear arsenals and military-industrial complexes make those of all Islamic “cultures” combined look like so many cap guns.

            • Some of the violence goes back before Islam. Savage tribal feuds among nomads, plundering-pirates honor/-shame at best. Pre-Abraham, child sacrifice to Moloch.

Absolutely, yucki! I’m sure we all agree that this pre-existing tribalistic or supposedly cultural “value structure” cannot be used as any sort of valid excuse for how Islam has adopted (and entrenched) such utterly reprehensible and barbaric practices.

Quite the exact opposite. Islam routinely has milked these previously existing, hyper-violent and unimaginably cruel traditions for every last extractable drop of venom (e.g., genocidal Antisemitism) as a regular, canonical ingredient which constitutes its core doctrine of hatred, intolerance, misogyny, terrorism, brutality, racism, cruelty, violence, xenophobia, mutilation, rape “culture”, child abuse, pederasty, caste mentality, supremacism, theocracy, and viciously enforced apocalyptic, pedophilic, homophobic, totalitarian, mockery of justice or a slightly remote sense of genuine equity.

              Did I leave anything out?

Again, yucki, your mention of “child sacrifice” strikes to the heart of what passes for, “Islamic reality”—an oxymoron at best.

The merest glance at how Muslims willingly enthusiastically send hurl their children into the glowing furnace of Baal grave tells all that is needed to understand just how evil and irredeemable this sham-of-a-culture (sneer quotes omitted) always has been and continues to be.

Golda Meir summed it up far too well:

We can forgive the Arabs for killing our children. We cannot forgive them for forcing us to kill their children. We will only have peace with the Arabs when they love their children more than they hate us.

My sole criticism of her words is that she was being waaaaaaaay too polite in her estimation of Arab morals. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

“RANDOM ID checks will take place outside concerts venues in Paris at the start and at the end of events, the Paris police chief has announced.

Michel Delpuech revealed he had signed a decree authorising police and security guards to carry out the checks.

The official also said that police were drawing up a list of “sensitive” events likely to attract young spectators.

These include cinemas, theatres and sports venues – including next week’s French Open tennis tournament, which will be held at the Roland Garros stadium in Paris.

French officials have also asked organisers of sporting and cultural events to strengthen security measures following the deadly attack and to keep an eye out for “suspicious behaviour”…”

  3. Running scared: ISIS moves ‘its headquarters away from Mosul’ to hide from Iraqi forces (express, May 25, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/809041/ISIS-moves-headquarters-away-west-Mosul-hide-Iraqi-forces-Hawija-Kirkuk-US

“THE Islamic State has moved its headquarters away from the war-torn city of Mosul, in a bid to retain its stronghold of terror in Iraq, according to reports.

As Iraqi forces increased their offensive in order to reclaim the city, the militants moved south to Hawija, Kirkuk, according to local media Alsumaria News.

A local source has insisted, senior jihadi militants fled Mosul, and ordered curfews on specific roads which enabled them to flee the city.

The source added: “Hawija has now become the group’s main haven, with members split between Hawija and Tal Afar an Baaj (west of Nineveh).”

The four sub-ISIS networks of Nineveh, Dijlah, Salahuddin and Diyala all made the dramatic getaway to Kirkuk.

  4. NATO chief says allies to join anti-IS coalition (abcnews, May 25, 2017)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/nato-chief-allies-join-anti-coalition-47629931

“NATO’s chief affirmed Thursday that the alliance will join the international coalition fighting the Islamic State group but will not wage direct war against the extremists — an announcement timed for U.S. President Donald Trump’s first appearance at a summit of the alliance’s leaders.

In the wake of this week’s suicide bomb attack at a concert in Manchester, NATO leaders are keen to show that the alliance born in the Cold War is responding to today’s security threats as they meet in Brussels. Trump has questioned its relevance and pushed members to do more to defend themselves.

Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said Thursday that joining the U.S.-led anti-Islamic State coalition “will send a strong political message of NATO’s commitment to the fight against terrorism and also improve our coordination within the coalition.”

But he underlined that “it does not mean that NATO will engage in combat operations.”…”

  5. Iran claims third underground missile production site built (abcnews, May 25, 2017)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/iran-claims-underground-missile-production-site-built-47631435

“An Iranian semi-official news agency says the country’s powerful Revolutionary Guard has built a third underground facility designated to produce ballistic missiles.

The semi-official Fars news agency on Thursday quoted the chief of paramilitary’s airspace division, Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh, as saying the force will “continue to develop our missile capacity” and that U.S. concerns over the country’s ballistic program are of no significance to Iran.

According to the report, the site is the third underground production facility for ballistic missiles in Iran. The report did not provide more details, say where it’s located and if and how many missiles have already been produced there.

Iran has long boasted of having missiles that can travel 2,000 kilometers (1,200 miles), placing much of the Middle East, including Israel, within range.”

    • Iran claims third underground missile production site built

Nothing that a few more GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB) devices can’t cure.

With that in mind, should Iran acquire functional nuclear weapons, it will represent this new century’s single-worst possible outcome for global—and, especially, Middle Eastern—geopolitical stability.

Summary execution for the entire generation of non-Islamic (or Islamic) politicians and diplomats who bear responsibility for the possibility of this horrific consequence will be too kind. This includes all American and EU participants as well.

The catastrophic results of Iranian nuclear capability will ripple through immediate future history with destructive shock-waves of incalculable proportions.

I assure you of this much:

Anything more than a very small number of atomic weapons held in Islamic hands will guarantee that one-or-more of them will end up in the possession of jihadi terrorists. As in: Pakistan’s arsenal already represents an intolerable threat to world peace. Add in (non-Muslim) North Korea and the situation immediately spins out of control. Now … include Iran:

There are few catastrophic scenarios which can possibly exceed the horrific nature of this (+ Iran) outcome. Remember, Islamic terrorists do not have the least compunction about causing unimaginable death tolls. Taken in combination, the end result is potential obliteration for all of Western civilization. Especially if Russia and China (predictably) elect to idly stand by.

Perhaps one of the most effective strategies for the West is openly and avowedly ensuring that Russia and China will perish with us. Welcome to MAD (Mutual Assured Destruction) rev 2.0.

How fecking sick is that? Given the role of Russia and China with respect to enabling this entire episode of 20th century global Islamic terrorism (and North Korean nuclear empowerment), the enactment of any such policy barely would give me a farking hiccup.

  6. Kenya says 2 police officers killed by improvised bomb (abcnews, May 25, 2017)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/kenya-police-officers-killed-improvised-bomb-47631651

“A Kenyan official says two police officers have been killed by an improvised bomb near the place where four officers died a day earlier in a similar explosion.

The attacks have raised concerns that the al-Shabab extremist group is turning its focus on Kenya after military pressure on its strongholds in neighboring Somalia.

North Eastern Regional Coordinator Mohamud Saleh said Thursday the two officers were airlifted to the capital, Nairobi, after the blast struck their vehicle in the Liboi area.

A total of 11 Kenyan police officers have been killed in explosions in the past two days. Al-Shabab claimed responsibility for two deadly attacks Wednesday.

Al-Shabab has carried out more than 100 attacks on Kenya since 2011, calling it retribution for Kenya sending troops to fight it in Somalia.”

  7. Iran says it has built third underground ballistic missile factory

Iran has built a third underground ballistic missile production factory and will keep developing its missile program, the semi-official Fars news agency quoted a senior commander of the elite Revolutionary Guard as saying.

The development is likely to fuel tensions with the United States in a week when President Donald Trump, on his first foreign trip, has called Iran a sponsor of militant groups and a threat to countries across the Middle East.

      • They’re seriously “offended” – been dissed by lowly Arabs and kafir-subhumans. Always touchy, prideful twisted-ragheads.

        • Who are Kims partners in developing nukes and missiles. Kim does the nuke testing and sends people to help Iran with nukes, Iran does the testing on long range missiles and sends people to help NORK. Never forget this, and never forget that China is behind everything Kim does, Russia may be helping him but is probably just setting back watching and waiting so they can use the chaos created by Kim, Iran and China to grab more places that use to be part of the Russian Empire. Uncle Vlad wants to be Czar Vlad the what ever number. I don’t know if he wants the position to be hereditary or not but he wants his kids to be part of the new ruling class in the New Russian. Empire.

          • Unlike many who were Cold Warriors I am not stuck on Russia as our primary enemy, yes Russia and Putin are our enemies and may have been behind some of the Islamic terrorism. I say may have been behind because I haven’t see enough evidence that they are to convince me, the Soviets funded and trained every anti western civ terrorist group but I think Putin is too smart to do that with the Sunni’s, and he knows that he can’t really trust the Shiite groups that Iran is backing. Russia doesn’t want to go head to head with the US right now, they would rather meddle like they always do but for the most part set back and watch the west commit suicide then step in and “rescue” the west from out stupid political decisions. Russia would then control all of Europe and send Orthodox missionaries into the west to “bring us back to Christianity”.

China doesn’t want to go head to head with us either but are more willing to do this then Russia is, they are willing to sacrifice Kim and most of North Korea if that is what it takes to keep our attention on Korea and lets them make gains in the Middle East, Eastern Europe (with most Eastern Europeans deciding that Russia isn’t as bad as China) and Africa. This is the world situation we are facing while we are fighting the Islamic conquest and the treason of the European and North American left.

    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/spanish-navy-rescues-282-migrants-boats-off-libya-47632535

“Spain’s defense ministry says a navy frigate has rescued 282 migrants from two boats found adrift in waters off the Libyan coast.

A ministry statement says the migrants rescued Wednesday included 18 Eritrean children under 10 years old. They were sailing in a small rubber boat and a larger wooden one.

The statement Thursday says the migrants were from African and Asian nations. They were transferred to a British vessel also taking part in the European Union’s anti-smuggling mission in Libyan waters.

The ministry says the rescue brought to 3,035 the number of migrants picked up by the frigate in the past three months. It says three alleged traffickers were detained.”

  9. Taiwan holds war games simulating Chinese island attack

TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) — Taiwan’s military practiced repelling a simulated Chinese assault on an outlying island group on Thursday as part of annual military drills addressing the threat from across the Taiwan Strait.

Units from the army, navy and air force were deployed for the drills on the Penghu islands. They featured tanks, rocket launchers, assault helicopters and soldiers using shoulder-fired missiles to repel a force invading from across the 160-kilometer (100 mile) -wide strait.

Warships maneuvered offshore and fighter jets deployed flares.

The drills come amid heightened tensions with China, which claims Taiwan as its own territory to be brought under its control by force if necessary.

Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen observed the drills wearing a helmet and flak jacket and said they would improve command and cooperation between the different branches of the military.

  10. Democratic candidate for House blames Manchester attack not on terrorism, but on what?
By Joe Newby May 24, 2017

On Tuesday, Brianna Wu, a Democrat from Massachusetts running for the U.S. House of Representatives, blamed the Manchester terror attack on sexism and misogyny rather than terrorism, tweeting out:

When a man straps on a bomb of nails, goes to woman’s concert to kill an audience of women and girls — IT’S A SAFE BET SEXISM IS INVOLVED.

Apart from the fact that there were men at the concert — the third casualty has been identified as 26-year-old John Atkinson — Wu is demonstrating her own bias since another of the victims, Martyn Hett, was not only male but gay. A tribute to the victims in The Telegraph notes that Hett was a diehard Ariana Grande fan. So much for “women’s” concerts.

Wu deleted her insane tweet but not before it was captured for posterity:

  11. UCLA hiring students to be ‘whiteness’ and ‘patriarchy’ cops on campus
By Ben Bowles May 24, 2017

Last week, I reported that the Afrikan [sic] Student Union at the University of California at Los Angeles had issued an ultimatum to the powers that be. Among their demands were a $40 million endowment for black students, “safe spaces” on campus, and new, more stringent anti-discrimination policies against prejudicial behavior that included a requirement that all incoming students, campus police, faculty, and staff undergo anti-discriminatory competence training.

Now comes word that the university is paying between 8 and 10 students an undisclosed amount to serve as “Social Justice Advocates” next semester. Campus Reform explains:

The Social Justice Advocates program seeks students who want to help their classmates “navigate a world that operates on whiteness, patriarchy, and heteronormativity as the primary ideologies,” and comes with a quarterly stipend, the amount of which has yet to be determined.

“Social Justice Advocates will systems [of] oppression and how they intersect and build upon each other to maintain the status quo,” the description continues. “Most importantly individuals and the collective will be empowered through liberatory scholarship and practices and strengthening their emotional intelligence to create change within their spheres of influence.”

It should be noted that the link in the above quote is to an application form that is now marked “closed,” which one supposes means they have enough “whiteness, patriarchy, and heteronormativity” cops on the payroll already.

  12. Germany: ‘We can’t hide behind a wall’ Obama tells Berlin

Former US President Barack Obama started his speech at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate on Thursday greeting the crowd with the German “Guten Tag” (Good afternoon, Eng.) and praising German Chancellor Angela Merkel for her “outstanding work” in Germany and around the world.

    • Does this POS realize how much the people who don’t like him really despise him? Does he know we see him without a single redeeming quality? That we see him and Bill Clinton as most responsible for the demise of the office of the POTUS such that the likes of The Rock think they too can lead the greatest nation on earth? Such ego. Such hubris.

  13. You can die’ Turkey’s Erdogan backers say ‘dangerous’ Britain DESERVED Manchester bomb (express, May 25, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/809118/Manchester-terror-attack-Tweets-England-Travel-Turkey-Manchester-Arena-Ariana-Grande

“VILE tweets from pro-Government Turks have insinuated Britain deserved the Manchester bombings – after 22 innocent concertgoers were slaughtered.

Suicide bomber Salman Abedi detonated an improvised device at Manchester Arena as happy singing children left an Ariana Grande concert with their parents.

About 119 people are injured, 20 critically, after the blast sent nails flying into the bodies of people exiting the pop concert.

And sick Turkish trolls, many who support President Erdogan, began calling for a boycott of the UK, using memes of the Royal Family, photographs of Manchester and images of the EU flag.

Many said England was a “likely target” as the hashtag #DoNotGoToEngland trended over nine hours in Turkey.

Some said simply “F*** England” while others said terror is “like a boomerang” and would come back to the UK eventually.

Others said the nation could not keep its “own children” safe – and some implied it was deserved as revenge for the British action in Middle Eastern countries.

One wrote: “Europa is being punished for supporting terrorism #DoNotGoToEngland

    “Yesterday to US.

    “Today to YOU.”

Another said: “If you want to live a long time. Don’t go to England do not too dangerous. I canceled (sic) my ticket.”

Turkey is no stranger to terror attacks with multiple Islamic State (ISIS) fanatics killing innocent people in their country in recent years.

The country is also blighted by fighting from the Kurdish PKK in the border regions with Syria.

Many of those using the hashtag appeared to be pro-Government supporters of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan…”

    http://www.express.co.uk/showbiz/tv-radio/809164/Manchester-bombing-former-Head-of-Cobra-Colonel-Kemp-deport-terror-threat

“FORMER Head of Cobra, Colonel Richard Kemp, said that it is “too late” for platitudes about how we must be tolerant and try to understand those who pose a threat to the UK, insisting that they should be deported.

He spoke to Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard on Good Morning Britain today about what can be done to help reduce the threat of terror in the UK.

“We have the finest intelligence services and finest police services in the world and they have protected us time and time again,” he noted. “Hundreds of attacks have been stopped, thousands of terrorists have been put in prison.

“The problem is that there are 3,000 known jihadists on the streets of the UK today, our intelligence services, our police services, no matter how good they are they can’t monitor all of them, they can’t control all of them.”

He went on to add that security services have to “prioritise” those they focus their attention on and “sometimes get it wrong”.

Colonel Kemp insisted that the only way to help them was to deport those who pose a threat, commenting: “Every single person who we have intelligence upon, who is known to be involved in terrorism, who is not a UK citizen, and who we cannot prosecute in this court, we deport and send them back to where they came from…”

  16. Net Immigration 2.5 Times Higher than Conservatives Promised in 2010 (breitbart, May 25, 2017)
    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/05/25/net-immigration-2-5-times-higher-conservatives-promised-2010/

“At 248,000, net immigration to the United Kingdom in 2016 remains roughly two-and-a-half times higher than the Conservative Party promised in 2010, according to the latest Office for National Statistics (ONS) estimates.

The Conservative Party promised to bring net immigration down “from the hundreds of thousands to the tens of thousands” in its 2010 manifesto. This pledge was repeated in the party’s 2015 manifesto and its manifesto for the upcoming snap election on June 8th.

However, whilst the ONS estimates that gross immigration in the year before the Tories came to power was 567,000, and net immigration 229,000, the statistical body’s provisional estimates for the year ending in December 2016 show a gross figure of 588,000 and a net figure of 248,000.

As Home Secretary under the David Cameron administration, immigration was Theresa May’s area of particular responsibility for many years.

Recalling that “in the 1990s net migration to Britain was consistently in the tens of thousands each year” in a 2010 speech, May chastised the previous Labour government for allowing net migration to run “close to 200,000 a year, for most years since 2000”.

“As a result, over Labour’s time in office net migration totalled more than 2.2 million people – more than double the population of Birmingham. We can’t go on like this.”

(In fact, an ONS investigation in 2014 revealed that immigration during this period was significantly undercounted, and actually ran well over 200,000 every year after 2003.)

Whilst the 2016 migration estimates are somewhat down on 2015, the ONS states this was “was driven by a statistically significant increase in emigration”, which was 40,000 higher than in 2015.

The 43,000 decrease in gross immigration was deemed “not statistically significant”.

Alp Mehmet, vice-chairman of Migration Watch UK, said the fact there had been any reduction at all was “welcome, but it is still running at a quarter of a million a year – a level that would have once have been dismissed as incredible”.

He added: “This means, broadly, a UK population increase of nearly half a million, every year. This is not a situation that can be allowed to slide … if the growing strains on our public services and society are to be relieved.”…”

    http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/809307/Donald-Trump-Manchester-terror-attack-Arena-NATO-Merkel

“DONALD Trump has pleaded with NATO to get a grip on immigration in the wake of the Manchester terror attack – saying “we must be tough, strong and vigilant”.

The US President addressed a group of NATO leaders, including Theresa May, Angela Merkel and Emmanuel Macron, and said unless a more hardline approach was taken then these depraved attacks will continue “forever”.

He said: “This is a day for remembrance and resolve. The recent attack on Manchester demonstrates the depths of the evil we face with terrorism.

“Innocent little girls and so many others were horribly murdered and badly injured while attending a concert.

“Beautiful lives with so much potential torn from their families forever it was a barbaric and vicious attack on our civilisation.

“We must find, expose and remove these killers and extremists and yes, losers, they are losers.

“Wherever they exist in our societies we must drive them out and never, ever let them back in.

“Nations of many faiths can unite to defeat terrorism.”

Speaking at the Artefacts Ceremony in Brussels at the new NATO headquarters, President Trump said: “It must be stopped in its tracks or the horror you saw in Manchester will continue forever.

“You have thousands and thousands of people pouring into our various countries and in many cases we have no idea who they are. We much be tough, strong and vigilant.

“The NATO of the future must include a great focus on terrorism and immigration.

“A FURIOUS dad launched a blistering attack on political correctness as he argued action, rather than vigils, was needed after the Manchester bombing.

Calling into BBC’s 5 Live Breakfast programme on Wednesday morning, father demanded the Government take action and crack down on Islamic extremism.

He said: “I’m absolutely seething after being in tears yesterday.

“The root cause of this and nobody, because of political correctness [will say this], these mosques are preaching hate, the Islamic schools are peaching hate… this is killing our children.

“It is absolutely ridiculous. It is about time someone had the balls to stand up to these people and [demand] some action…”

“A SHOPPING centre in Newport has been evacuated by police after a suspicious vehicle was discovered.

Armed police rushed to the scene and eyewitnesses reported hearing an “explosion”.

Jeanine Griffiths, 26, was swimming at Newport Leisure Centre when the building was evacuated

The mother-of-one told Express.co.uk: “We were swimming, we just got out and we were told we had to leave the building as the police had arrived amid reports of a suspicious package.

“We grabbed our stuff and left. We have seen two bomb squads and literally just heard an explosion, not sure if it was a controlled one or not.

“It was a thump. You just don’t expect it to be so close to home!”

Ms Griffiths added there were about 200 people gathered outside the Dolman theatre.

She said: “There are people in just swimsuits who didn’t get chance to grab their bags so they are sat on buses that have been brought in for people.”

Gareth Blayney wrote on Twitter: “Did I just hear a controlled explosion in at Friars Walk in Newport just now?”

Jonathan Powell added: “Just heard what I assume to be the controlled explosion at Friars walk!”

However, Gwent Police have denied there was an explosion.

The force tweeted: “No controlled explosion has taken place at #FriarsWalk in #Newport. We can confirm a window on the vehicle has been smashed by officers.”

Another eyewitness said he saw an armed desposal officer shoot through the window of the car.

Police also confirmed a second suspicious item was found less than a mile away near George Street Bridge…”

  21. Iraqi troops torture and execute civilians in secret videos, Elite unit was once praised by U.S. military officials (abcnews, May 25, 2017)
    http://abcnews.go.com/international/deepdive/brian-ross-investigates-the-torture-tapes-47429895

“Officers of an elite Iraqi special forces unit, praised by U.S. military commanders earlier this year for its role in fighting ISIS, directed the torture and execution of civilians in Mosul in at least six distinct incidents caught on tape.

“That’s a murder,” retired Green Beret Lt. Col. Scott Mann told ABC News after reviewing the graphic footage. “There should be punishment for anyone doing it. It’s reprehensible and it shouldn’t be allowed on any modern battlefield.”

The alarming footage was smuggled out of Iraq by a prize-winning Iraqi photojournalist, Ali Arkady, who spent months embedded in combat with the elite Iraqi troops leading the fight against ISIS late last year. Since turning over his cache of photos and videos to ABC News, he says he has received death threats from the soldiers he once considered friends and has now fled Iraq to seek asylum in Europe.

“This is happening all the time,” Arkady said of the war crimes he documented, which he recounted in an exclusive interview with ABC News’ Brian Ross to be broadcast tonight on ABC’s World News Tonight with David Muir and Nightline.

Iraqi officials are now launching an investigation into Arkady’s allegations…”

  23. Militia violence in Central African Republic leaves 300 dead (reuters, May 25, 2017)
    http://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-centralafrica-violence-idUKKBN18L26W

“Militia violence in Central African Republic has killed around 300 people and displaced 100,000 in the last two weeks, the United Nations and the government said on Thursday, in the worst displacement since a 2013 civil war.

The violence marks a sharp escalation in the long conflict that began when the mostly Muslim Seleka rebel coalition overthrew then-president Francois Bozize in 2013, prompting reprisals from Christian anti-balaka militias.

Fighting in the last two weeks has hit the towns of Bria, Bangassou and Alindao, all hundreds of kilometres east of the capital Bangui, the U.N. humanitarian office and the minister of social affairs said in a joint statement.

“It’s a catastrophe,” Social Affairs Minister Virginie Baikoua told journalists after a visit on Wednesday to Bria. “Houses are burnt down, others pillaged … The displaced are afraid it could degenerate at any moment because armed men are roaming around the camps.”

More than 41,400 of Bria’s 47,500 inhabitants were displaced by fighting between May 15 and 18, the statement said.

The Red Cross said last week it had found 115 bodies in Bangassou, a diamond-mining area on the border with Democratic Republic of Congo after it was seized by hundreds of militia with heavy weaponry.

U.N. peacekeepers, part of a 13,000-strong force, have since secured Bangassou and reinforced their positions in other areas, the mission (MINUSCA) said in a statement.

Around 440,000 people were displaced throughout the country by the end of April and that number could reach 500,000 by the end of May. That would represent the most displaced since the height of the crisis in 2013, the U.N. humanitarian office said.”

“The Communist Nations and Western Assistance”
      by James J. Drummey – April 28, 2015

      Excerpt:
      The Lend-Lease Fiasco

Until Stalin collaborated with Adolf Hitler in 1939 to carve Up Poland, the Soviet regime had spent most of its time consolidating its power across the vast expanse of Russia by swallowing up such nations as Armenia, Azerbaijan, Byelorussia, Georgia, Turkestan, and the Ukraine. The deliberate starvation of millions of Ukrainians during the 1930s is an atrocity that is still not widely known, although congressional documents (The Crimes of Khrushchev), books (The Great Terror by Robert Conquest), and a 1985 Canadian television program (Harvest of Despair) have documented that barbaric policy.

The Hitler-Stalin Pact was proceeding nicely for the two totalitarians until Hitler decided to invade the Soviet Union in 1941. Suddenly, the Soviet enemy became America’s “ally,” at least in the eyes of the Roosevelt Administration. At a Russian Aid Rally in New York City in June 1942, presidential advisor Harry Hopkins told the Soviets that “we are determined that nothing shall stop us from sharing with you all that we have and are in this conflict, and we look forward to sharing with you the fruits of victory and peace.” Hopkins concluded that “generations unborn will owe a great measure of their freedom to the unconquerable power of the Soviet people.”

The wish of Harry Hopkins to save the Soviet Union from destruction came true as America sent more than $11 billion worth of supplies and services to the USSR from 1942 to 1946. This incredible flow of goods included more than 14,000 aircraft; nearly half a million tanks, trucks, jeeps, and other vehicles; more than 400 combat ships; 325,784 tons of explosives; over four million tons of foodstuffs; more than 1,300 diesel marine engines, many of which were taken away from General Douglas MacArthur; over 219,000 tons of critically scarce copper wire and cable; and huge quantities of industrial equipment and specialized machine tools for military production.

Major George Racey Jordan, a U.S. Army officer who expedited Lend-Lease shipments to the USSR through Great Falls, Montana, wrote a book (From Major Jordan’s Diaries) that describes in detail what he called “the greatest mail-order catalogue in history.” Jordan, whose orders described him as the “United Nations Representative” at Great Falls, said he was informed by his superiors in Washington that “the modification, equipment, and movement of Russian planes have been given first priority, even over planes for U.S. Army Air Forces….”

Major Jordan also tells of the thousands of black suitcases that traveled through the Lend-Lease pipeline under diplomatic immunity. These suitcases carried not only tons of classified documents, according to Jordan, but also at least 1,465 pounds of uranium chemicals and “2.2 pounds of uranium metal at a time when the total American stock was 4.5 pounds.”

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — There are growing concerns about the arrest of two brothers with ties to the Middle East who authorities say had an arsenal with bomb-making materials, guns and ammunition in their car.

Twenty-seven-year-old Abdullah Alrifahe and 26-year-old Majid Alrifahe were arrested on May 11 in north Minneapolis.

Abdullah is being held in the Hennepin County Jail. His brother, Majid, has been released and is facing minor charges.

WCCO-TV has confirmed that both Homeland Security and the FBI are involved in the investigation, which started outside a federally-subsidized senior housing project. A good Samaritan confronted the men about littering from their car.

This comes as the producer group battles a global glut of crude after seeing prices halve and revenues drop sharply in the past three years.

The cuts are likely to be shared again by a dozen non-members led by top oil producer Russia, which reduced output in tandem with the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries from January.

  30. ‘Sorted’ by MI5: How UK government sent British-Libyans to fight Gaddafi (middleeasteye, May 25, 2017)
    http://www.middleeasteye.net/news/sorted-mi5-how-uk-government-sent-british-libyans-fight-gaddafi-1219906488

“The British government operated an “open door” policy that allowed Libyan exiles and British-Libyan citizens to join the 2011 uprising that toppled Muammar Gaddafi even though some had been subject to counter-terrorism control orders, Middle East Eye can reveal.

Several former rebel fighters now back in the UK told MEE that they had been able to travel to Libya with “no questions asked” as authorities continued to investigate the background of a British-Libyan suicide bomber who killed 22 people in Monday’s attack in Manchester.

Salman Abedi, 22, the British-born son of exiled dissidents who returned to Libya as the revolution against Gaddafi gathered momentum, is also understood to have spent time in the North African country in 2011 and to have returned there on several subsequent occasions.

British police have said they believe the bomber, who returned to Manchester just a few days before the attack, was part of a network and have arrested six people including Abedi’s older brother since Monday.

Home Secretary Amber Rudd has said that Abedi was known to security services, while a local community worker told the BBC that several people had reported him to the police via an anti-terrorism hotline.

On Wednesday, authorities in Tripoli said that Abedi’s younger brother and father, who had resettled in Libya after the revolution, had also been arrested on suspicion of links to the Islamic State (IS) group, which claimed responsibility for Monday’s attack.

Sources spoken to by MEE suggest that the government facilitated the travel of Libyan exiles and British-Libyan residents and citizens keen to fight against Gaddafi including some who it deemed to pose a potential security threat.

    ‘No questions asked’

One British citizen with a Libyan background who was placed on a control order – effectively house arrest – because of fears that he would join militant groups in Iraq said he was “shocked” that he was able to travel to Libya in 2011 shortly after his control order was lifted.

“I was allowed to go, no questions asked,” said the source, who wished to remain anonymous.

He said he had met several other British-Libyans in London who also had control orders lifted in 2011 as the war against Gaddafi intensified, with the UK, France and the US carrying out air strikes and deploying special forces soldiers in support of the rebels.

“They didn’t have passports, they were looking for fakes or a way to smuggle themselves across,” said the source.

But within days of their control orders being lifted, British authorities returned their passports, he said.

“These were old school LIFG guys, they [the British authorities] knew what they were doing,” he said, referring to the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, an anti-Gaddafi Islamist militant group formed in 1990 by Libyan veterans of the fight against the Soviet Union in Afghanistan.

The British government listed the LIFG as a proscribed terrorist organisation in 2005, describing it as seeking to establish a “hard-line Islamic state” and “part of the wider Islamist extremist movement inspired by al-Qaeda”. Former members of the LIFG deny that the group had any links with al-Qaeda and say it was committed only to removing Gaddafi from power.

Belal Younis, another British citizen who went to Libya, described how he was stopped under ‘Schedule 7’ counter-terrorism powers on his return to the UK after a visit to the country in early 2011. Schedule 7 allows police and immigration officials to detain and question any person passing through border controls at ports and airports to determine whether they are involved in terrorism.

He said he was subsequently asked by an intelligence officer from MI5, the UK’s domestic security agency: “Are you willing to go into battle?”

“While I took time to find an answer he turned and told me the British government have no problem with people fighting against Gaddafi,” he told MEE.

    Travel ‘sorted’ by MI5

As he was travelling back to Libya in May 2011 he was approached by two counter-terrorism police officers in the departure lounge who told him that if he was going to fight he would be committing a crime.

But after providing them with the name and phone number of the MI5 officer he had spoken to previously, and following a quick phone call to him, he was waved through.

As he waited to board the plane, he said the same MI5 officer called him to tell him that he had “sorted it out”.

“The government didn’t put any obstacles in the way of people going to Libya,” he told MEE.

“The vast majority of UK guys were in their late twenties. There were some 18 and 19. The majority who went from here were from Manchester.”

But he said he thought it was unlikely that Abedi, who would only have been 16 at the time, would have been recruited as a fighter.

“The guys I was fighting with would never put a 16-year-old boy anywhere near the frontline.”

Younis said he did not think that the policy of allowing British-Libyans to fight againt Gaddafi had been a contributing factor in Monday’s attack, pointing out that IS was not present in the country at the time – and said he had no regrets about his decision to fight.

“What inspired me to go to Libya was the liberty of civilians. There’s no way that that can morph into killing children,” he said.

Another British citizen with experience of fighting in both Libya and in Syria with rebel groups also told MEE that he had been able to travel to and from the UK without disruption.

“No questions were asked,” he said.

The majority of the fighters flew to Tunisia and then crossed the border into Libya, while others travelled via Malta, he said.

“The whole Libyan diaspora were out there fighting alongside the rebel groups,” he added.

One British-Libyan man from Manchester who also wished to remain anonymous told MEE that he had travelled frequently to Libya during the 2011 revolution to undertake humanitarian aid work.

“I never got prevented from going to Libya or stopped when I tried to come back,” he said.

The man said that he had come across Salman Abedi at their local mosque in the Didsbury neighbourhood but that he had “kept himself to himself” and was not an active member of the community.

His family, who were originally from Tripoli, had returned to Libya, he said.

“I guess if your family is away from you that sense of belonging dissipates. For us Libyans in Manchester – they’re trying to imply we knew. He was just an individual and he’s nothing to do with us.”

Another person who knew Abedi described him as a “hot head” with a reputation for involvement in petty crime.

“Yesterday they’re drug dealers, today they’re Muslims,” he said, adding that he believed Abedi had also been friends with Anil Khalil Raoufi, an IS recruiter from Didsbury who was killed in Syria in 2014.

    ‘Elite SAS training’

One of the British-Libyans spoken to by MEE described how he had carried out “PR work” for the rebels in the months before Gaddafi was overthrown and eventually killed in October 2011.

He said he was employed to edit videos showing Libyan rebels being trained by former British SAS and Irish special forces mercenaries in Benghazi, the eastern city from where the uprising against Gaddafi was launched.

“They weren’t cheap videos with Arabic nasheeds [songs], they were slick, professional glossy films which we were showing Qataris and Emiratis to support troops who were getting elite SAS training.”

He was also tasked by rebel commanders with training young Libyans to use cameras so that they could sell packages to international media.

On one assignment at a rebel base camp in a Misrata school, he came across a group of about eight young British-Libyans. After joking about their northern accents he found out that they had never been to Libya before.

“They looked about 17 or 18, maybe one was 20 at most. They had proper Manchester accents,” he said. “They were there living and fighting and doing the whole nine yards.”

Many Libyan exiles in the UK with links to the LIFG were placed on control orders and subjected to surveillance and monitoring following the rapprochement between the British and Libyan governments sealed by the so-called “Deal in the Desert” between then-British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Gaddafi in 2004.

According to documents retrieved from the ransacked offices of the Libyan intelligence agency following Gaddafi’s fall from power in 2011, British security services cracked down on Libyan dissidents in the UK as part of the deal, as well as assisting in the rendition of two senior LIFG leaders, Abdel Hakim Belhaj and Sami al-Saadi, to Tripoli where they allege they were tortured.

Belhaj later returned to Libya and was a leading figure in the uprising against Gaddafi, while another former Libyan exile subjected to a control order in the UK was later tasked with providing security for visiting dignitaries including British Prime Minister David Cameron, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, MEE understands.

‘When the revolution started, things changed’

Ziad Hashem, an LIFG member granted asylum in the UK, said in 2015 that he had been imprisoned for 18 months without charge and then restricted to his home for a further three years based on information he believed had been supplied by Libyan intelligence.

But he said: “When the revolution started, things changed in Britain. Their way of speaking to me and treating me was different. They offered to give me benefits, even indefinite leave to remain or citizenship.”

Control orders were introduced as part of counter-terrorism legislation drafted in the aftermath of the 2005 London bombings.

They allowed authorities to restrict the activities of people suspected of involvement in terrorism-related activities by requiring them to remain at a registered address for up to 16 hours a day, subjecting them to electronic tagging, limiting their access to telephone and internet communications, and banning them from meeting or communicating with other people deemed to be of concern.

At least 50 people were subjected to the measure with at least 12 Libyan exiles among them.

Control orders were replaced with Terrorism Prevention and Investigation Measures (TPIMs), which allow authorities to impose many of the same restrictions while limiting their term to two years, in 2011.

The Home Office told MEE it did not comment on individual cases. It said that TPIMs were a robust and effective means for dealing with terrorism suspects who could not be prosecuted or deported.

It said that arrangements involving the police, the Home Office and the Security Service (MI5) had been put in place in 2011 during the transition from control orders to TPIMs to ensure that national security was maintained.”

  31. Austrian Populist Leader: Put Islamists on Prison Islands (breitbart, May 25, 2017)
    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/05/25/austrian-populist-leader-islamists-prison-islands/

“The leader of the populist anti-mass migration Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) Heinz-Christian Strache has proposed that known Islamists should be arrested and sent to prisons on “lonely islands”.

Mr. Strache made the comments in reaction to the terrorist attack in Manchester which saw the deaths of 22 people and over 60 injured. The FPÖ leader said Islamists were “tomorrow’s murderers” and the European Union needed to introduce “hard” measures against returning Islamic State fighters, Austrian newspaper Die Presse reports.

According to Strache, almost all of the Islamic State fighters who return to Europe from Syria and Iraq pose a potential security risk. He said many of these fighters, including the Manchester terrorist, are well known to authorities.

“If they are banished to a lonely and well-guarded island, the problem is solved for the most part, instead of waiting until they strike and massacre people,” he said.

He also urged EU member states to deport foreign radicals as soon as possible. “Against such radical people, only hard measures help,” he noted.

Strache has long been an ardent critic of both radical Islamic terrorism, mass migration, and Islamisation in Austria. Taking over the leadership of the FPÖ in 2005, he has managed to transform the party from a fringe group to a major force in Austrian politics.

Earlier this year Strache expressed a desire to completely ban Islamism in Austria. He called the ideology “antagonistic to women, antiliberal and corresponds to a fascist worldview” and added that any migrants from the Islamic world “may go back to their Islamic country, we have forced no one to come here”.

On the subject of mass migration, Strache is clear that he thinks German Chancellor Angela Merkel is the “most dangerous woman in Europe” because of her pro-migrant policies which led to over a million migrants entering Germany in 2015.

After the surprise resignation of former Austrian vice-chancellor Reinhard Mitterlehner, the coalition government of the conservative Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP) and the Socialists has largely collapsed and early elections announced for October 15th.

Whilst the ÖVP has seen a boost in polls due to the new leadership of popular Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz, the FPÖ have remained in the contention.

Some have predicted a possible coalition government between the conservatives and the FPÖ as Mr. Kurz has been the main proponent for the recent banning of the Islamic full face veil and has agreed with other proposals like housing incoming asylum seekers on islands until they can be properly processed.”
