  1. ‘Pakistan’s GDP growth expected to hit 9-year high in current fiscal year’ (tribune, May 21, 2017)
    https://tribune.com.pk/story/1415342/pakistans-gdp-growth-expected-hit-9-year-high-current-fiscal/

“Pakistan’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth is expected to rise to a nine-year high in the current fiscal year and the growth rate will continue to surge in the coming financial years, the World Bank said in a report issued on Saturday.

“The GDP growth in the fiscal year (FY) 2017 is expected to climb to 5.2 per cent and the growth rate will continue to accelerate, reaching 5.5 per cent in FY18 and 5.8 per cent in FY19,” predicted the report launched in collaboration with the Lahore School of Economics.

The Pakistan Development Update, released biannually, sets out recent developments across the economy and identifies risks and opportunities in the near future before focusing on a handful of key development challenges.

“Pakistan’s accelerating growth is good news and reflects the country’s success in building confidence. But the pace of reforms has slowed and it is important for the structural reforms to accelerate,” a press statement quoted Illango Patchamuthu, the World Bank country director for Pakistan, as saying…”

  2. QAU closed after dozens injured in armed clash between students (tribune, May 21, 2017)
    https://tribune.com.pk/story/1415058/armed-clash-campus-qau-closed-dozens-injured/

“The campus of the Quaid-i-Azam University [QAU] turned into a battleground for a second time in a month on Saturday as two student groups clashed in the varsity and openly traded fire leaving at least 30 injured.

Authorities had to call in large contingents of police and Rangers to control the situation while the university administration has decided to vacate the boy’s hostel on campus while suspending academic activities indefinitely.

“Classes at QAU have been suspended until further notice. However, the university will remain open for staff and faculty,” said QAU Vice-Chancellor Dr Javed Ashraf.

While the reason for the clash was not immediately known, Balochi and Sindhi students had turned on each other on Saturday, attacking each other with rods, clubs, fists and even guns, forcing officials to summon the police and Rangers.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Abdus Sattar Isani said that as many as 30 people had been injured in the clash…”

  3. German and Afghan guard killed in Kabul guest house attack (france24, May 21, 2017)
    http://www.france24.com/en/20170521-german-afghan-guard-killed-kabul-guest-house-attack

“A German aid worker and an Afghan guard were killed as gunmen stormed an international guest house in central Kabul, officials said Sunday, as insecurity rises in the war-torn country.

A Finnish woman is missing and presumed to be kidnapped in the attack late Saturday on the guest house run by a Swedish charity called Operation Mercy.

No one has so far claimed responsibility for the incident, the latest in a series of assaults on aid workers in Afghanistan.

“A Finnish lady was kidnapped from police district (three) last night at 11.30. A German lady and an Afghan guard were killed,” interior ministry spokesman Najib Danish said on Twitter.

A Finnish foreign ministry spokeswoman confirmed to AFP that a Finnish citizen has been kidnapped in Kabul.

“We can confirm that we know about this but we are not giving details at the moment. The only thing we can say is it is not known who the kidnappers are,” said spokeswoman Karoliina Romanoff.

Operation Mercy’s director Scott Breslin told local news agency TT that he was holding a crisis meeting over the incident.

“We know that she’s missing, we will send out a press release later,” Breslin said in a brief statement.

Operation Mercy is known to work with local Afghan communities in areas such as reducing infant mortality and women’s empowerment.

The attack underscores growing insecurity in Afghanistan, which is in the grip of an insurgency waged by the Taliban and other groups.

The kidnapping of foreigners has been on the rise, but the threat of abductions is even greater among Afghans…”

  4. Parisian Women Face Constant Harassment By Migrants (breitbart, May 21, 2017)
    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/05/21/parisian-women-face-constant-harassment-by-migrants/

“Women in the east Paris district of Chapelle-Pajol are claiming that they cannot leave their homes without being subjected to verbal abuse from migrants in the area.

Over the past year or so the district has become a no-go area for women as migrants and drug dealers have flooded the area. Dozens of these groups of young men crowd the streets, harassing women who walk by wearing what they consider to be immodest clothing Le Parisien reports.

The situation for women has gotten so bad in the area that many women are effectively banned from cafes and bars. 50-year-old Natalie, who has been a resident of the area for 30 years said, “these are insults, incessant reflections. The atmosphere is agonising, to the point of having to modify our itinerary, our clothes. Some even gave up going out.”

An 80-year-old female resident is said to have totally stopped leaving her apartment after being sexually assaulted as she was returning home one day.

Aurélie, 38, who has lived in the area for 15 years said that the cafe below her apartment has turned into an exclusively male establishment. “I have to listen to a lot of remarks when I pass in front, especially since they drink a lot,” she said.

“A few days ago, the simply standing by my window triggered a flood of insults and I had to lock myself in my apartment. I used to walk down the Boulevard de la Chapelle from Stalingrad [metro station], even late at night … It’s unthinkable today,” she added.

The Stalingrad metro was the former location of a large makeshift migrant camp in Paris which was cleared and relocated to Porte de la Chapelle. Earlier this month Breitbart London visited the camp and talked to the migrants there. All blamed Europe for their situation and demanded handouts from the French government.

Another woman said she would not allow her 12-year-old daughter to walk the streets of the area alone anymore. She said that after getting off at the Chapelle metro station she ended up in the middle of a brawl of migrants who pulled knives out and threatened her with them. “I thought my last hour had arrived,” she said.

Due to mass migration, the situation in various parts of Paris has rapidly deteriorated over the last few years. Various suburbs of Paris, such as Seine-Saint-Denis, have become breeding grounds for radical Islam according to France’s top expert on the subject, Gilles Kepel.

The women of Chapelle-Pajol have said they will organise a walk around the area with female city officials in order to bring attention to the problem and perhaps find a solution.

So far newly elected French president Emmanuel Macron has not addressed the issue of safety in the French capital, using his first weeks as president to court the approval of German Chancellor Angela Merkel instead.”

In a related development, army troops, acting on a tip off, rounded up 10 suspected Boko Haram smugglers, he said. The suspects, six females and four males, are being investigated to determine the extent of their involvement with Boko Haram, he said.

Since the army regained control of most of the Sambisa Forest area in northeastern Nigeria from Boko Haram in December 2016, Nigerian troops have pursued the extremist fighters in areas where they have fled…”

  6. Police: Gunmen kill 6 policemen in attacks in Pakistan (abcnews, May 21, 2017)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/police-gunmen-shoot-kill-policemen-north-pakistan-47539372

“Gunmen shot and killed four policemen in one attack on a patrol in northwest Pakistan and in another attack in the south two policemen were killed and two others wounded, police said Sunday.

Police official Arif Khan said the first attack took place Sunday in the Kohat district, about 90 kilometers (56 miles) south of Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. He said police launched a hunt for the attackers, who fled.

Khan said the policemen were returning to their station after a patrol when they were attacked and that the area police chief, his second-in-command and two constables were killed.

Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, a breakaway faction of the Pakistani Taliban, claimed responsibility for the attack. It had been involved in previous such attacks in the province, which borders Afghanistan…”

  7. Rapist who fled to Pakistan is jailed for nine years (BBC, May 21, 2017)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-birmingham-39989646

“A man who fled to Pakistan after raping a teenage girl has been jailed after he was caught trying to return to the UK.

Amar Mehraj, 29, was one of four men who gang raped a 17-year-old girl while she was unconscious in July 2009 in Oldbury, West Midlands.

He then left the country but was caught at Birmingham Airport in November.

Police said Mehraj had been jailed for nine years and nine months after admitting taking part in the attack. Three other men were jailed in 2010.

Det Con Mark Timmins of West Midlands Police said: “This was a sickening crime against a vulnerable young girl, who was plied with alcohol and drugs before being sexually abused.

“Protecting young people from harm is a priority for West Midlands Police and partner agencies and we take reports of sexual offences extremely seriously.

“This case just goes to show that we will never give up on bringing offenders to justice.
“Thankfully, justice has finally caught up with Mehraj.”

Mehraj, of Giles Road, Oldbury, was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court on Friday, having admitted his role in the attack at an earlier hearing.”

  8. House Seeks Security Upgrades at Members’ Offices Back Home

The U.S. House’s Sergeant-at-Arms is seeking at least $2 million to increase security at Congress members’ offices in their home districts, the News4 I-Team has learned.

The security upgrades include panic buttons for offices that don’t already have them and video surveillance equipment.

Members of Congress have made an increasing number of requests to improve home-office security, Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving said recently. He’s seeking the additional money from the House Appropriations Committee.

He didn’t specify the nature of any threats against members.

On Capitol Hill, members of Congress are protected by hundreds of armed U.S. Capitol Police. But back home, their offices are often in open, public places such as strip malls.

Six years ago, Rep. Gabby Giffords was shot and critically injured during an assassination attempt in a strip mall in Tucson, Arizona. Giffords survived and resigned her seat in 2012 to continue her recovery.

  9. Killing C.I.A. Informants, China Crippled U.S. Spying Operations

WASHINGTON — The Chinese government systematically dismantled C.I.A. spying operations in the country starting in 2010, killing or imprisoning more than a dozen sources over two years and crippling intelligence gathering there for years afterward.

Current and former American officials described the intelligence breach as one of the worst in decades. It set off a scramble in Washington’s intelligence and law enforcement agencies to contain the fallout, but investigators were bitterly divided over the cause. Some were convinced that a mole within the C.I.A. had betrayed the United States. Others believed that the Chinese had hacked the covert system the C.I.A. used to communicate with its foreign sources. Years later, that debate remains unresolved.

But there was no disagreement about the damage. From the final weeks of 2010 through the end of 2012, according to former American officials, the Chinese killed at least a dozen of the C.I.A.’s sources. According to three of the officials, one was shot in front of his colleagues in the courtyard of a government building — a message to others who might have been working for the C.I.A.

  10. Venezuela anti-government unrest marks 50th day with huge marches

CARACAS/SAN CRISTOBAL, Venezuela (Reuters) – Hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans took to the streets on Saturday to mark 50 days of protests against the unpopular government of President Nicolas Maduro, with unrest gaining momentum despite a rising death toll and chaotic scenes of nighttime looting.

At least 46 people have been killed in the worst turmoil faced by Maduro since he won the presidency in 2013. Venezuelans from civilians to police have been killed, sometimes during increasingly frequent spates of looting or street melees.

Many Venezuelans are furious with Maduro’s government, blaming it for soaring inflation, shortages of everything from food to medicine, and a crackdown on human rights. They are demanding elections, freedom for jailed activists, foreign aid, and autonomy for the opposition-led legislature.

Major opposition marches took place across the oil-rich nation of 30 million on Saturday, with protesters in Caracas brandishing placards that read “No More dictatorship in Venezuela” while in the volatile border city of San Cristobal masked youths threw rocks, and a Reuters witness saw two protesters wielding machetes.

  11. North Korea missile passes re-entry test in breakthrough for nuclear programme

The ballistic missile launched by North Korea on May 14 successfully re-entered the Earth’s atmosphere, according to analysts, a significant breakthrough for Pyongyang’s missile programme.

Defence officials in South Korea and the US have confirmed that the launch of the liquid- fuel Hwasong-12 was a success.

North Korea claimed that the weapon reached an altitude of 2,111.5 km (1,312 miles) and travelled a distance of 489 miles before breaching Japan’s Air Defence Identification Zone and splashing down in the Sea of Japan.

  12. Exclusive: North Korea’s Unit 180, the cyber warfare cell that worries the West

SEOUL (Reuters) – North Korea’s main spy agency has a special cell called Unit 180 that is likely to have launched some of its most daring and successful cyber attacks, according to defectors, officials and internet security experts.

North Korea has been blamed in recent years for a series of online attacks, mostly on financial networks, in the United States, South Korea and over a dozen other countries.

Cyber security researchers have also said they have found technical evidence that could link North Korea with the global WannaCry “ransomware” cyber attack that infected more than 300,000 computers in 150 countries this month. Pyongyang has called the allegation “ridiculous”.

The crux of the allegations against North Korea is its connection to a hacking group called Lazarus that is linked to last year’s $81 million cyber heist at the Bangladesh central bank and the 2014 attack on Sony’s Hollywood studio. The U.S. government has blamed North Korea for the Sony hack and some U.S. officials have said prosecutors are building a case against Pyongyang in the Bangladesh Bank theft.

No conclusive proof has been provided and no criminal charges have yet been filed. North Korea has also denied being behind the Sony and banking attacks.

  13. North Korea tests another missile; Seoul says dashes hopes for peace

SEOUL (Reuters) – North Korea fired a ballistic missile into waters off its east coast on Sunday, its second missile test in a week, which South Korea said dashed the hopes of the South’s new liberal government for peace between the neighbors.

A South Korean military official said the missile appeared to be an upgraded, extended-range version of the North’s solid-fuel submarine-launched missile. The missile fired a week ago flew was liquid-fueled, and flew further.

North Korea has defied all calls to rein in its nuclear and missile programs, even from China, its lone major ally, saying the weapons are needed for legitimate self-defense.

The reclusive state has been working to develop a nuclear-tipped missile capable of striking the U.S. mainland. On Saturday, it said it had developed the capability to strike the U.S. mainland, although Western missile experts say the claim is exaggerated.

An official traveling with U.S. President Donald Trump in Saudi Arabia said the White House was aware of the latest launch and noted that the missile had a shorter range than the three previous missiles that North Korea had tested.

  14. Make or break: Cypriots cling to hope in peace talks

NICOSIA (Reuters) – As a new showdown looms over troubled Cyprus reunification talks, peace activists are clinging to the last vestiges of hope that a deal can be done ending decades of division on the ethnically split island.

Every Saturday for more than a decade, people from rival sides have met over coffee at a medieval inn on the Turkish Cypriot side of Nicosia to discuss their vision of a united country.

But for the past two months, their chats have had to deal with a marked slowdown in momentum at formal talks on reunification between Nicos Anastasiades and Mustafa Akinci, the Greek and Turkish Cypriot leaders.

These formal peace talks — billed by diplomats as the best chance in decades to end the Cyprus conflict — are stuck as the two sides disagree on the way forward.

Last week a UN envoy launched shuttle diplomacy to avoid the prospect of collapse, and concerns are mounting that the process could be sidelined by Greek Cypriot elections next year.

  15. Where were the media when Hillary Clinton was sharing U.S. military technology with Russia?
By Jeff Dunetz May 20, 2017

This post provides additional proof the mainstream media reports supposed wrongdoings by a politician only when it involves a Republican.

According to a report by Peter Schweizer presented in a Wall Street Journal piece published on July 31, 2016 (and released in a report called “From Russia With Money,”, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton oversaw “a major technology transfer initiative” that “may have substantially undermined U.S. national security.” At the time the program was being implemented, the FBI warned that Russia purpose’s in participating in the initiative was to gain access to classified, sensitive, and emerging technology from the U.S. In fact the U.S. Army said the project was simply a “vehicle for world-wide technology transfer to Russia.”

Coincidentally (if you believe in coincidences) the Clinton Family enriched themselves out of the deal.

In his July 2016 report Schweitzer explained that a key aspect of the “reset” was to help Russia develop its own version of Silicon Valley. Called “Skolkovo” and located near Moscow, it housed technology for developing bio-med, space, nuclear and IT technologies.

  16. Italy: Relics of St. Nicholas leave Bari in first leg of their 3,000km journey to Moscow

The relics of Saint Nicholas left Bari in Italy on Sunday, to make the 3,000km-long journey to Moscow, the first time the relics have been moved from their resting place in 1,000 years.

    • Turkey demands St Nicholas’ bones back

Turkish newspaper Hürriyet is reporting that Ankara wants Italy to return the bones of St Nicolas.

The remains of the third century Bishop of Myra, popularly known as St Nicholas, are now in the Basilica of di San Nicola in the South Italian port of Bari. According to the paper, Turkish Culture Minister Ertugrul Günay wants to re-inter the bones in Demre.

Many miracles have been attributed to the Bishop of Myra and he was known as Nicholas the Wonderworker. He was also said to give charity in secret and would leave coins in shoes left out for him. This provided the model for the Dutch Sinterklaas, which later became the model for Santa Claus.

He was born in the Greek colony of Patara in Asia Minor in 270 CE; he was of Greek extraction and was very religious from an early age. He died in 346 CE.

In 1071, the emperor of the Eastern Roman Empire loss of the Battle of Manikert and the invading Seljuk Turks temporarily took control over most of Asia Minor. In 1087, the saint’s relics were stolen and transported to Bari.

A Turkish archaeologist is claiming that St Nicholas said he did not want to be buried in Italy and because the saint lived and died in Turkey, he should be buried in Turkey. Ankara said it will pursue the matter delicately and a time frame has not been set for the return of the saint’s bones.

    • Turkey may claim St Nicholas’s relics

A REQUEST by Turkey for the return of St Nicholas’s bones from their current resting place in Italy would be “terribly hypocritical”, the founder of the St Nicholas Society, Canon Jim Rosenthal, said this week.[…]

“They want to build a museum for the relics, but we don’t want them in a museum but in a church. It’s got so commercial there.”

Canon Rosenthal said it was particularly galling when a bronze statue of St Nicholas in Demre, donated by the city of Moscow, had been taken down and replaced by a plaster-of-Paris effigy of Santa Claus[…]

The Turkish government is said to be considering making a request to Rome for the return of the bones, and a prominent archaeologist in Demre has suggested that the saint asked, during his lifetime, to be buried in his home town.[…]

Italy: Relics of St. Nicholas entrusted to ROC ahead of journey to Moscow

    • A Brief History of Stolen Catholic Relics

[…]The possession of a relic was a much bigger deal for a church in the Middle Ages than it is now for one big reason: money. Having a Vatican-sanctioned relic, be it the bones of a saint or a piece of the True Cross, meant that people were more likely to make pilgrimages to your church or monastery.

[…]Being Jewish, Christ would have been circumcised. That small ring of flesh would become a surprisingly important part of Christianity.

At one point at least 18 towns promised pilgrims that their foreskin was the real deal. Over time most of these prepuces were lost or destroyed.

But the town of Calcata in Italy managed to hold on to theirs until just 30 years ago. On the Feast of the Circumcision of Our Lord, January 1, the foreskin in its jeweled case would be paraded through the streets. But then in 1983, the case, and the “dense and fuzzy” piece of skin resembling a “red chickpea” that it contained, disappeared.

It is not just what was stolen that makes this particular theft so odd, though. The weirdest aspect of the story is that there is strong evidence it was stolen by the Vatican.[…]

Such relics have an important role in the Orthodox faith. In 2011, part of what was believed to be the Virgin Mary’s belt went on display in Moscow.

                  • That is what they are doing this for, to bring people back to the Russian Church. I understand that after the fall of Communism the Baptists made a big effort to gain coverts in Russia, and succeeded.

  17. We’re Watching the Murder of American Democracy

The media is eager to make you forget, but the Democrats didn’t just start talking about impeaching Donald Trump last week. They didn’t start using the “I” word after the president fired Jim Comey. They didn’t start using it after this supposed “memo” surfaced – which, by the way, not a single reporter has seen or can personally testify to. And they certainly didn’t start talking about it after the appointment of a special counsel. No, no. They were talking impeachment long before Trump ever took the oath of office, and they’ve been gearing up for this day since he was elected in a stunning upset.

Oh, they tried to mask it. They tried to make it sound like they were going to give Trump a chance. That didn’t last long. It was just too damn obvious that they were lying through their teeth. They never had the slightest intention of working with President Trump; they wanted him gone from the moment he gave his election night speech. How DARE he and his ragged band of deplorables steal the election away from the well-groomed rightful heir to the crown? Oh, they were pissed.

And make no mistake about it: This isn’t just about Donald Trump. This is about anyone and everyone who had the audacity to support him. The Democrats and even elements of the GOP establishment are now getting ready to wage war on Trump’s legion of supporters. Or, to put it more accurately, they are preparing to finish a war they’ve been quietly waging for decades.

To the globalist neoliberals who have hijacked this country, America’s past is rooted in deep, racist, bigoted shame. And the future now belongs to the minorities. Which minorities? It hardly matters. They’re making up new groups with every passing year. The point isn’t to celebrate the culture of Western Africa or to make up for slavery or to right the wrongs inflicted on the gay community. None of that matters. The point is to wage a war on white, Christian conservatives. You may know them as the men and women who built the United States. To the New Liberal Order, they are the ONE TRUE EVIL, and they must be extinguished from the planet.

Ah, but they counted their chickens just a tad too early, didn’t they? They thought they’d already changed the country so fundamentally that there was no coming back. And then came Trump to prove that the silent majority was still very much around. That realization was too much for them to handle. Now they’ve regrouped and they’re ready to put the final nail in the coffin of the old, bigoted America they despise – starting with the president.

We’re watching nothing less than the murder of American democracy – a slow-moving coup already in progress. They see Trump’s victory as the last gasp of a dying empire.

If they succeed in throwing him out, they might prove themselves right.

Richard: The author is talking about the US but as the regular readers know this is a cooridinated global effort to destroy democracy and install a socialist Dictatorship over the entire world. Our enemies around the world celebrated when Obama withdrew from leading the fre world and gave them a free hand to take work to achieve nuclear weapons and to invade and conquer neighboring nations. Now that Donald Trump is bringing the US back into a free nation that fights for our freedom and the freedom of our friends.

During the last 8 years the globalists made massive gains in Europe and Canada now they facing the raise of nationalism all around the world. Nationalism that will spell the doom of their one socialist world dream, They are doing their best to crush this nationalism in Britain and Western Europe, in Britan they are working to reverse the damage of the Brexit by cracking down on free speech and efforts to restore the rule of law to Britain. In Western Europe they are busy cracking down on the Identity movement, and in the US they are doing this by trying to remove President Trump by any means necessary. We are fighting what is a civil war using the media as the attack forces. Since this isn’t working they are going to start using antifa, BAMN and BLM as the shock troops for a violent civil war as possibly a violent coup.

In Western Europe the quiet coups have already succeeded in taking control of the nations are are busy trying to use the EU to ensure that Eastern Europe falls to the Islamic invaders. The Eastern European nations must remain free so they can be the inspiration and safe refuge for the members of the Identity movement when they have to temporarily leave their home nations because the police are persecuting them.

      • The Silent Majority will be heard, IF and WHEN it becomes necessary.

        Be warned, Demonrats.

Because then you’ll hear the shot heard ’round the world.

      • Thank you very much for the detailed commentary, Richard. I wish others here at Vlad Tepes Blog would more frequently devote their considerable brainpower to the (admittedly disheartening) task of providing such elucidation regarding what awaits our confused and befuddled world.

Once again, we are treated to the sordid spectacle of Leftists enjoying unfettered access to Constitutional rights and (much like their Muslim counterparts) using those identical legal implements to curtail and limit human freedoms.

When those exact same time-honored tools suddenly yield a result which does not support Leftist narratives, the most Unconstitutional measures are immediately resorted to. Clearly, these transnational government types regard rule of law as a one-way street which can only be allowed to lead in their preferred sociopolitical direction—as opposed to aiming for the achievement of a functioning Democratic Republic—a goal that America’s Founding Fathers risked their very lives for.

As Hillary Clinton so brazenly demonstrated, laws are for the little people, and her agenda was widely held to be so sacrosanct such that sullying it with the grime of being inspected in-hand by the great unwashed simply could not be tolerated.

As you noted, Richard. This more recent tendency to knowingly recruit, “antifa, BAMN and BLM” as violent shock troops represents a clear departure from all previous norms of civil debate or the long held standard of “agreeing to disagree”*. Not even the SDS or Weather Underground stooped so low.

        * Let’s not even venture into the noble realm of Evelyn Beatrice Hall’s Gold Standard insistence that, “I do not agree with what you have to say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it.”

Such a voluntary leave-taking from the well-established political patterns that encouraged and incubated American (and Western) exceptionalism heralds several disturbing developments:

        • A rapid departure from long-held societal mores that signify the advent of no-holds-barred political “cage matches” which bode particularly ill with respect to calm resolution of differences.

        • Acute social and political polarization of a sort not seen on American soil (at least since the Civil War*) and last manifested in European Nazism—with the exception of less-concentrated Cold War schisms.

        • The deterioration of marginally functional bipartisan American politics into a uniparty system that is profoundly manipulated by corporate-controlled mass media and its mock-ideologue mouthpieces.

        • Heavily monied institutions engaging in Social Engineering on an unprecedented scale only recently made possible by inexpensive long distance travel (including so-called, “open borders”), mass telecommunication systems, and Culturally Marxist demoralization of once-stable national entities.

        * Hat tip to Richard and his ominous predictions of a renewed American Civil War – Version 2.0

What awaits Western Civilization is deeply disturbing. A descent into violent conflict is almost certain. All that remains to be determined is the limits, identities, and number of parties involved. Far more troubling is the regular and relatively unprotested convergence of Liberal and Islamic goals (despite their ostensibly inimical tenets). As in:

        • The use of lawfare, extortion, and blackmail as a tool of first resort.

        • Accusations of “racism” or “Islamophobia” as a primary response to any statement of opposing principles.

        • Subversion of generally accepted Constitutional processes in the face of any ideological challenges or setbacks.

        • Willful disregard of internal philosophical contradictions or, even, flagrant Cognitive Dissonance.

        • Abandonment of all reason or logic in favor of appeals to emotion, blind faith, or totalitarian doctrine.

All of which foretells the arrival of Civilizational conflict on a heretofore unprecedented scale which has not been seen since the Mongol Hordes or Persian invaders—save only for Islam itself. Quelle surprise.

        • Keep you musket clean, your powder dry and your bug out bag packed and near the back door, I hear the band warming up to play the bug out bogie.

    • Another (Sea) Lion of Islam™!

How shall these two seal their bond?

Did this maritime beast “flipper” off the dock?

Will this young girl be remembered as a pinniped pinup?

  19. The U.S., Churchill and the Middle East

    by Pierre Rehov

In France, everything has been written about the new U.S president, as long as it could relay the most negative image possible. In a country sometimes bathed in an anti-Americanism inherited from Gaullism and communism, major political religions of the post-war era, exacerbated by the Bush years — it experienced a noticeable lull at the arrival of former President Barack Obama. The election of Donald Trump has the effect of an avalanche.

For many, America had foundered, would never recover and the archetypal image of the uneducated, violent cowboy, fed on hamburgers, would now finally stick to this uncouth country — too powerful, too capitalist and actually distressed by injustice and inequality.

But beyond the systematic and cleverly orchestrated detestation that the new American president engenders, it is clear that after eight years of the soft and partisan management of Obama (one will remember his hallucinatory Cairo speech, his bow of allegiance to the King of Saudi Arabia, and especially his passivity to the atrocities committed by Iran, Syria and their proxies) powerful America is back at the front of the stage.

The U.S. is no longer simply the paralyzed observer of a rise in violence, as in those terrifying scenes in movies where zombies multiply without anyone knowing how to contain, counter or stop them. Since the sheriff is back in town fighting the zombies, the zombies are fighting back.

As soon as President Trump arrived in the White House, in fact, he rolled up his sleeves to try to find solutions to the increasing threats to world peace, based on a sound principle appreciated by great leaders such as Churchill: Si vis pacem para bellum. If you want peace, prepare for war.

  20. Europe: Muslim Atrocities against Women? So What!

    by Uzay Bulut

It happened again last week. Two Turkish nationals in Schwerin, Germany were arrested for raping a 13-year-old girl after forcing themselves into her home.

Recently, a judge in Germany acquitted a Turkish drug dealer of raping one of his customers last August. He had forced himself on her for four hours and left her incapacitated for weeks. He told the judge that in the culture from where he came, what she “had experienced as rape” might be considered merely “wild sex”.

    What “culture” is this?

According to the Turkish women’s rights organization “We Will Stop the Murders of Women,” which publishes monthly reports, in March of this year alone, 35 women were killed; 14 others were exposed to sexual violence, and 63 children were molested. Many children, the report said, had been sexually abused for years, and often attempted suicide.

The report also stated that the murder of women in Turkey — 63% percent of which is committed by husbands, boyfriends, fathers, brothers or sons — is spurred more than half the time by women; it is supposedly their fault: they actually wanted to make decisions about their lives, such as getting a divorce, before they were murdered.

  21. Egypt refers 48 to court over Coptic church bombings (BBC, May 21, 2017)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-39992432

“Egypt’s public prosecutor says 48 suspected members of so-called Islamic State (IS) have been referred to a military court in connection with three bombings of Coptic churches.

Thirty-one of the suspects are in custody while the others are still at large.

More than 70 people died in suicide attacks against churches in Cairo in December and in the cities of Tanta and Alexandria in April.

IS said it carried out the bombings.

In a statement on Sunday, public prosecutor Nabil Sadek said some of the suspects were leaders within IS and had formed cells in Cairo and the southern province of Qena to carry out the church attacks.

He said the militants were also responsible for killing eight police officers at a checkpoint in Egypt’s Western Desert in January…”

    http://www.businessinsider.com/afp-saudi-king-slams-iran-as-spearhead-of-global-terrorism-2017-5

“Saudi Arabia’s King Salman on Sunday accused regional rival Shiite Iran of exporting extremist Islamic movements to the world and vowed to eliminate the Islamic State group.

“The Iranian regime has been the spearhead of global terrorism since the (Ayatollah Ruhollah) Khomeini revolution” in 1979, King Salman said in a speech to leaders including US President Donald Trump.

“We did not know terrorism and extremism until the Khomeini revolution reared its head,” he said.

Saudi Arabia was also determined to “eliminate the Islamic State group”, the king said of the Sunni Muslim jihadist organisation…”

“CHINA has killed or imprisoned at least 20 CIA agents or sources, destroying years of intelligence gathering, US officials have claimed.

An investigation has been launched into why so many assets were lost between 2010 and 2012, in what US officials have described as one of the worst the intelligence breaches in decades.

The New York Times reported that some senior spies have acknowledged a mole inside the CIA was betraying Chinese recruits.

  25. Geert Wilders on Trump Speech: ‘Own Culture is Far Superior to Islam’ (moroccoworldnews, May 21, 2017)
    https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2017/05/217206/geert-wilders-on-trump-speech-own-culture-is-far-superior-to-islam/

“As usual, while the rest of the world listened to Trump’s speech before the Arab Islamic American Summit and heard talk of a united Arab world and the west, the Netherland’s, Geert Wilders, was hearing something else entirely.

Those who thought, or hoped, that the Dutch election put a metaphoric muzzle on the Party of Freedom’s racist leader, Geert Wilders, were reminded Sunday that the man and his rhetoric aren’t going anywhere quietly, anytime soon.

Raging against a machine of his own creation, that of an Islamic conspiracy to take over the world by any means necessary, Wilders took to Twitter Sunday to proclaim that “Islam hates us.” He continued, identifying Saudi Arabia as “the biggest sponsor of terrorism and our own culture is far superior to Islam.”

He wasn’t finished. Calling Islam “evil,” Wilders described the religion as “barbaric and violent by nature.”

Even as US President, Donald Trump, and Saudi Arabia’s King Salman were urging a visionunified of worldwide cooperation to eradicate Islamist extremism, Wilders figuratively covered his ears and sang a tired refrain that went something like this: Islam “wants all non-Muslims to submit. Nothing will change that. We must deislamize.”

Earlier Sunday Wilders tweeted an image of a party poster with the words: “Islam is a dangerous totalitarian ideology in the guise of a religion.” Hardly words meant to inspire bridge-building but perhaps not altogether unexpected either.”

    • * Go Geert! *

[But the money’s good for the US, and maybe the devils will take back the wretched Muslims infesting the rest of the world. Plus the weapons we sell will help them to kill vastly more of each other, much more quickly.]

  26. ANA artillery units pound Taliban hideouts in Ghazni, leaving scores dead (khaama, May 21, 2017)
    http://www.khaama.com/ana-artillery-units-pound-taliban-hideouts-in-ghazni-leaving-scores-dead-02798

“The Afghan National Army (ANA) artillery units pounded the hideouts of the Taliban insurgents in southeastern Ghazni province of Afghanistan, leaving scores of militants dead.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said the ANA artillery units pounded the hideouts of the Taliban insurgents in Waghez district of Ghazni.

MoD further added that 48 insurgents were killed in the artillery strikes and at least 28 others were wounded.

In the meantime, MoD said at least 5 insurgents were killed and 6 others were wounded in a similar operation in northern Kunduz province of Afghanistan.

According to MoD, the hideouts of the Taliban insurgents were pounded by the artillery units of the Afghan army in Gortapa area of Kunduz.

Both the northern Kunduz and southeastern Ghazni provinces are among the volatile provinces where the Taliban insurgents and militants belonging to the other insurgent groups are actively operating.

The Taliban insurgents frequently carry out attacks in Kunduz city and the group managed to take control of the strategic Kunduz city for at least two times.

The Taliban insurgents often carry out insurgency activities including roadside bombings, target killings, coordinated attacks, and other types of insurgency activities in Ghazni province which links Kabul through Maidan Wardak province to the southern provinces of the country.”
