BBC Makes Drama About Muslim Rape Gang, Doesn’t Mention Islam (breitbart, May 11, 2017)
http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/05/11/bbc-drama-muslim-rape-gang-no-mention-islam/
“The BBC has made a drama about girls affected by Muslim rape gangs – with no mention of Islam in press releases or the trailer, the writer claiming “there was no religious basis for this”.
Three Girls, which will be aired 16 May on BBC One, tells the story of three children from Rochdale targeted by a gang of Pakistani and Afghani origin Muslims between 2005 and 2008.
The case resulted in the 2012 conviction of the nine men for serious sexual offences, including rape and human trafficking, inflicted on girls as young as 13.
“The drama will look at the way in which these girls were groomed, how they were ignored by the authorities directly responsible for protecting them, and how they eventually made themselves heard,” the BBC explained in a statement.
Speaking to The Guardian, the series writer Nicole Taylor, insisted: “There was no religious basis for this, but a wider discussion about why this was, and is, a distinct pattern would be welcome.”
She said she “didn’t want to give these people [the English Defence League] an opportunity”, by telling the story, adding: “But that’s not a reason to do the drama.”
However, sentencing the men at the time, Judge Gerald Clifton bluntly disagreed, clearly stating that religion was a factor in the case and part of what motivated the men to treat the girls as they did.
He said the men treated the girls “as though they were worthless and beyond respect”.
“One of the factors leading to that was the fact that they were not part of your community or religion.”
The BBC insisted they had done extensive research and worked with victims to tell the true story as accurately as possible…”
President Assad Rules Out Making Concessions on Syria’s Sovereignty (sputniknews, May 12, 2017)
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201705121053526777-assad-syria-sovereignty/
“Syrian President Bashar Assad said Thursday he can make concessions on personal issues, but not on the issues related to sovereignty, national interests, the constitution, and independence of Syria.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Syrian President Bashar Assad said Thursday he would not make concessions on sovereignty, independence and national interests of his country, in an interview with BELARUS’ ONT channel.
“All the things related to sovereignty, national interests, the constitution, and independence are not the prerogative of the president and he cannot make concessions regarding them. I make concessions on personal issues which are of no importance to the people, the crisis, and they are not required of me anyway,” Assad said as translated and quoted by state SANA news agency.
Russia and Turkey are the guarantors of a nationwide Syrian ceasefire regime that came into force on December 30, 2016, and has been holding up in general, despite continued reports of violations. The UN Security Council passed a resolution in December 2016 supporting the effort.
Earlier in May, Russia, Turkey and Iran signed the memorandum on establishment of safe zones in the country as part of the Astana talks on Syrian settlement. The four zones include the northwestern Idlib province and parts of the neighboring Latakia, Hama and Aleppo, the north of the central Homs province, Eastern Ghouta near Damascus, as well as southern Daraa and Quneitra regions.”
Australian top IS recruiter Neil Prakash ‘to be extradited’ (BBC, May 12, 2017)

“Australia’s most wanted jihadist, Neil Prakash, is likely to be extradited from Turkey within months, PM Malcolm Turnbull has said.
Prakash, a senior recruiter for so-called Islamic State, was arrested in Turkey last year and placed in jail.

There was this hit piece about Trump Tower aired last night on the German taxpayer funded public news channel ZDF Heute-journal.
From the description:
“In a widespread network of Russian oligarchs, money launderers and fraudsters, there are connections in the Trump Tower. Russian money has also been flowing into Trumps companies, according to our correspondent J. Hano from New York.”
Summary:
This news report starts with “investigative reporters” pasting up photos on a window saying, “we`ve discovered a network of oligarchs, money launderers and wanted gangsters that have connections to the TRUMP TOWER.
Scott Horton (lawyer and Anti-corruption EXPERT) says there is a long list/roll call of prominent figures from organised crime that reside in Trump Tower. He claims that they use Trump Towers as a headquarters for their criminal enterprises including gambling, prostitution and drug sales.
In West Palm Beach, Florida they meet with James Henry(who has been following the Capital flight from the former Soviet Union. He says there is a connection between the two (President Trump and Capital Flight). He says, ” Donald Trump like to say he has no investment in Russia, but there are a lot of Russians who invest money in his company/common business ventures.
It is mentioned that Trump had financial difficulties at the beginning of the 2000s, saying he needed money. He sold his mansion in WPB to a Russian who they say has contacts to the Kremlin. (Always showing Putin)
They show another Russian guy who has something to do with the Miss Universe Contest and a Russian reality company called Bay Rock. One of the partners of Bay Rock, Felix Zater (sp?) according the them, has connections to the mafia with convictions of violent crime and stock market fraud.
Now the new moderator start his closing statement by saying Trump fired Comey to get rid of someone hot on his trail of Russian collusion. Adding that his interview with NBC made him look like he says one thing but does another because President Trump had praised Comey during the Clinton email affair. He also mentions the recommendation that Comey be fired, but says it´s “crazy” because it was based on the investigation of Hillary emails and not Russian collusion.
A reporter in the U.S. is asked how the American people reacted to this interview. He says he thinks a large portion of the population is confused and shocked. They had to watch a defensive President Trump insult the former FBI chief. Of course he mentions what the Temporary FBI chief said during the hearing which appears to contradict what President Trump says in the NBC interview.
This reporter also says he thinks Trump fired Comey so he could get rid of the “Russian Collusion”stories, but in his opinion the opposite has happened now. He says American got it´s “wake up call” that Trump has something to hide.
Islamic instant divorce practice reviewed by India’s top court (RT, May 11, 2017)
https://www.rt.com/news/388042-india-triple-talaq-hearing/
“A multi-faith judge bench in India has opened hearings on whether the controversial practice of instant divorce violates the rights of Muslim women.
The instant divorce in Islam is called the “triple talaq”, as a man can divorce his wife by simply uttering “talaq” (divorce) three times.
The five Supreme Court judges, all of different faiths – Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Zoroastrian and Muslim started six-day hearings on the issue on Thursday.
They are reviewing a batch of petitions claiming the practice is unconstitutional.
The Supreme Court is to rule on whether the instant divorce practice is fundamental to religion.
“We will also examine whether triple talaq is a part of enforceable fundamental right,” the court said, as cited by the Hindu.
Opposing sides in the hearings have been given three days for their arguments.
Among the seven petitions filed to the Supreme Court by Muslim women, some complained that they had been divorced through a letter, postcards, as well as on Facebook and Whatsapp.
While a range of Muslim majority countries, such as Turkey, Egypt, Bangladesh and Pakistan, have long abolished the instant divorce, it is still legal under the Indian constitution…”
Measles outbreak prompts Minnesota officials to request $5mn (RT, May 12, 2017)
https://www.rt.com/usa/388052-minnesota-measles-outbreak-somalia/
“Authorities in Minnesota are seeking $5 million to respond to the largest outbreak of measles in three decades, most of which involve unvaccinated Somali-American children.
On Wednesday, Minnesota Health Commissioner Dr. Ed Ehlinger asked state lawmakers for $5 million to address the state’s growing infectious disease crises, which includes “the largest measles outbreak the state has faced in nearly 30 years,” according to a statement obtained by the Post-Bulletin.
A total of 51 measles cases have been confirmed in the counties of Ramsey, Crow Wing and Hennepin, where the state’s largest city Minneapolis is located. Forty-eight of the cases affect children, with 46 affecting Somali-Americans, according to data released by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH).
Ehlinger has asked state lawmakers to create a public health emergency fund of $5 million in order to “ensure sufficient resources are available for immediate, lifesaving actions to protect Minnesotans from infectious disease outbreaks and other unanticipated public health threats.”
So far this year, the state has spent nearly $3 million responding to measles, tuberculosis and syphilis. Ehlinger warns that the funds can no longer be diverted from “other vital public health services.”
“Significant threats to public health are becoming more frequent and costly,” Ehlinger said. “Minnesotans rightly expect a rapid and effective response to these threats, but current state funds lack the flexibility needed to deal with emergent disease threats.”
Ehlinger stated the proposed public health emergency fund has support from Democratic Governor Mark Dayton.
Last Thursday, when there were 41 measles cases, MDH released a statement, which said the majority of the cases have been spread by unvaccinated people, many of them from the Somali community.
Since 2008, Minnesota’s Somali community, the largest Somali community in the US, has grown more skeptical about vaccines. Much of the disinformation about vaccines in the Somali community comes from British researcher Andrew Wakefield, who first proposed a link between vaccines and autism in a paper which has been widely discredited.
Citing numerous studies on the MMR vaccine, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that “there is no link between vaccines and autism.”
“The most worrisome thing is, it’s a completely unnecessary outbreak,” said Kris Ehresmann, director of infectious disease control for MDH, according to CNN. “We have a vaccine that can prevent measles, and yet we’re seeing this widespread transmission.”
Ehresmann emphasized that the outbreak “has nothing to do with being Somali. It’s just the sheer fact of being unvaccinated.”
Measles is a highly contagious disease that “if one person has it, 90 percent of the people close to that person who are not immune will also become infected,” according to the CDC.
The MDH claims more than 2,500 people have been exposed during the recent outbreak…”
For 1st time, US intelligence officials publicly express concern over Russian cyber firm (abcnews, May 12, 2017)
http://abcnews.go.com/US/1st-time-us-intelligence-officials-publicly-express-concern/story?id=47351638
“Senior members of the U.S. intelligence community are for the first time publicly expressing concern that one of the world’s largest cyber-security firms — Moscow-based Kaspersky Lab — could pose a threat to the U.S. homeland.
The acting head of the FBI, Andrew McCabe, told the Senate Intelligence Committee today that his agency is “very concerned about it … and we are focused on it closely.”
Robert Cardillo, the director of National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, said he is “aware of the Kaspersky Lab challenge and/or threat.” CIA Director Mike Pompeo said the matter “has risen to the director of the CIA as well.” And the head of the National Security Agency, Adm. Mike Rogers, said he is “personally aware and involved” in “national security issues” associated with Kaspersky Lab.
Until those remarks at a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing today, such concerns have been communicated only behind closed doors and in private memos, as ABC News first disclosed in a report Tuesday.
“I think we do ourselves a disservice by not speaking about this openly,” Michael Carpenter, who until January served as the Defense Department’s deputy assistant secretary for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia, told ABC News.
Current and former U.S. officials worry that Russian intelligence could seek to exploit Kaspersky Lab’s widely-used software to steal and manipulate users’ files, read private emails or attack critical infrastructure in the United States. And they point to Kaspersky Lab executives with previous ties to Russian intelligence and military agencies.
In a secret memorandum sent last month to Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats and Attorney General Jeff Sessions, the Senate Intelligence Committee raised possible red flags about Kaspersky Lab and urged the intelligence community to address potential risks posed by the company’s powerful market position.
“This [is an] important national security issue,” declared the bipartisan memorandum, described to ABC News by congressional sources.
In February, the Department of Homeland Security issued a secret report on the matter to other government agencies. And the FBI is investigating the nature of Kaspersky Lab’s relationship to the Russian government, sources with knowledge of the probe told ABC News.
The company has repeatedly insisted it poses no threat to U.S. customers and would never allow itself to be used as a government tool.
Products from Kaspersky Lab are widely used in homes and businesses throughout the United States and around the world.
But ABC News found that -– largely through outside vendors -– Kaspersky Lab software has also been procured by such federal agencies as the U.S. Bureau of Prisons, the Consumer Protection Safety Commission and even some segments of the Defense Department.
“We are tracking Kaspersky and their software,” the Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, Lt. Gen. Vincent Stewart, told the Senate panel today. “As well as I know, and I checked this recently, no Kaspersky software on our networks.”
But when asked whether any federal contractors might be using Kaspersky Lab software on U.S. systems, Stewart said, “The contractor piece might be a little bit harder to define, but at this point we see no connection to Kaspersky and contractors supporting our [information technology].”
Sen. Joe Manchin, D-West Virginia, described concerns related to Kaspersky Lab as “more than a challenge,” saying, “We are very much concerned about this, very much concerned about the security of our country.”
When Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Florida, asked the panelists whether they’d be willing to use Kaspersky Lab software on their devices, Director of National Intelligence Coats said: “A resounding no from me.”
The five other U.S. intelligence officials on the panel unanimously agreed.
Manchin urged each of the U.S. officials testifying to verify that Kaspersky Lab software is not on their agencies’ systems.
In a statement issued Tuesday, Kaspersky Lab insisted: “As a private company, Kaspersky Lab has no ties to any government, and the company has never helped, nor will help, any government in the world with its cyberespionage efforts.”
“The company has a 20-year history in the IT security industry of always abiding by the highest ethical business practices, and Kaspersky Lab believes it is completely unacceptable that the company is being unjustly accused without any hard evidence to back up these false allegations,” the statement said.
“Kaspersky Lab is available to assist all concerned government organizations with any ongoing investigations, and the company ardently believes a deeper examination of Kaspersky Lab will confirm that these allegations are unfounded.”
In fact, the FBI and other agencies in the U.S. intelligence community have yet to publicly present any evidence connecting company executives with Russian security services. And sources who spoke with ABC News did not offer any evidence suggesting Kaspersky Lab has helped breach a U.S. system or taken hostile action on behalf of the Russian government.
“For 20 years, Kaspersky Lab has been focused on protecting people and organizations from cyberthreats, and its headquarters’ location doesn’t change that mission,” Kaspersky Lab said in its statement. “[J]ust as a U.S.-based cybersecurity company doesn’t allow access or send any sensitive data from its products to the U.S. government, Kaspersky Lab products also do not allow any access or provide any private data to any country’s government.”
In an interview with ABC News, Eugene Kaspersky said, “My response if I’m asked to spy on anyone coming from any state, any government -— not only Russian —- will be definite ‘no.'”
Experts emphasize there is one key thing to remember about Kaspersky Lab: “They do some good things, and they have good products,” said Carpenter, the former Defense Department official.
Founded in 1997, the company boasts an estimated 400 million users in nearly 200 countries. And it reportedly rakes in hundreds of millions of dollars a year, not only through its anti-virus software but also through the analysis it conducts about emerging threats.
“We do not care who’s behind the cybercampaigns we expose,” Eugene Kaspersky said in 2015, responding to a Bloomberg News report about his alleged ties to Russian officials. “There is cyber-evil, and we fight it.”
In 2013, Kaspersky Lab outed what it called Red October, an alleged Russian hacking campaign to spy on diplomatic agencies in Eastern Europe. Kaspersky Lab researchers were also behind the discovery of Stuxnet, the U.S. National Security Agency’s special cyberbomb targeting Iranian nuclear facilities in 2009 and 2010.
Answering online questions through the website Reddit as today’s Senate Intelligence Committee hearing was getting underway, Eugene Kaspersky said he is “tired” of answering “silly questions about my ties with the Kremlin.
“All these stories, they don’t make me happy,” he wrote. “But to some extent they give us something close to free advertising.””

Fresh Calls for EU Funding to Be Withheld from States Which Refuse Migrant Quota (breitbart, May 12, 2017)
http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/05/12/fresh-calls-eu-funding-withheld-states-refuse-migrant-quota/
“Finland’s finance minister has added his voice to those calling for European Union funding to be withdrawn from member states which refuse to take in migrants.
Speaking to Reuters, Petteri Orpo called for more conditions to be placed on the allocation of cohesion funds when the EU next draws up its next budget framework, Euractiv has reported.
“Supporting new and developing member states is an important part of the European project,” he said.
“But when we look forward, and at the migrant crisis, we just cannot stand by when payments from the net contributors are welcomed, but burden sharing is not.”
The main beneficiaries of cohesion funds are the poorer eastern countries in the bloc. But many of those same countries have refused to take in a Commission-mandated quota of the migrants arriving in Italy and Greece, arguing they are already having to deal with migrants taking the Baltic route into Europe.
Nonetheless, Orpo insisted that no exceptions could be made, saying: “If we want the EU and its financing to be fair, then we need to be able to discuss this … Our goal is that everyone should be jointly responsible [for dealing with migration].”
“If not, then you should not get the money.”
Orpo’s comments are in line with his centre-right government, which last week released a statement saying it was “essential that EU funding be further conditioned in the future”.
They also echo those of the Austrian Chancellor Christian Kern, who in March told Die Welt: “The money from the EU budget must be spread more equitably among the member countries in the future.
“If countries continue to avoid resolving the issue of migration, or tax dumping at the expense of their neighbours, they will not be able to receive net new payments of billions from Brussels.”
But they deepen the chasm emerging between wealthier western nations, who support measures to rehome migrants within Europe, and eastern bloc nations who take a firmer line.
Even as Orpo was speaking on the subject, the European Court of Justice was deliberating on a case brought by Hungary and Slovakia, supported by Poland, opposing the migrant quotas imposed by Brussels in September 2015.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said that to accept large numbers of migrants would be “national suicide”, and explaining his decision to pursue legal action, added: “It is not enough to just protest, it must be acted upon.”
Hungary’s hard line on migration led to Luxembourg’s Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn to call for Hungary’s ejection from the EU itself.
Both countries are calling for the distribution quota to be scrapped, and for the European Council to pick up the costs.”
Golly. The EU makes out like Hungary is some sort of “illiberal” dictatorship. Why would anyone in their right mind want to be a part of such a place?

In Senegal, Iran and Saudi Arabia vie for religious influence (reuters, May 12, 2017)
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-senegal-saudi-iran-insight-idUSKBN1880JY
“In an upmarket suburb of Senegal’s seaside capital, a branch of Iran’s Al-Mustafa University teaches Senegalese students Shi’ite Muslim theology, among other subjects. The branch director is Iranian and a portrait of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei hangs on his office wall.
The teaching includes Iranian culture and history, Islamic science and Iran’s mother tongue, Farsi; students receive free food and financial help. The university is a Shi’ite outpost in a country where Sufism, a more relaxed, mystical and apolitical form of Sunni Islam, is the norm.
Two miles away, the Islamic Preaching Association for Youth (APIJ) teaches the strand of Islam that predominates in Iran’s great religious, political and military rival, Saudi Arabia.
The APIJ funnels cash from donors in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Dubai and Kuwait to mosques run by Salafists – conservative Sunni Muslims who are sworn enemies of Iran. The APIJ’s shelves are stacked with Salafist theology texts adorned with gold-leaf Arabic inscriptions – texts its imams use to preach in some 200 mosques across Senegal.
The two institutions embody a contest for influence in Senegal, and more widely in Africa, between Iran-backed Shi’ites and Saudi-funded Sunnis. It’s one strand of a broad power struggle in which each side is spending millions of dollars to win converts. At stake is huge political influence, on a resource-rich continent that has often served as the theater for rivalries between world powers.
Interviews with teachers and converts on both sides shed light on the depth of the divide and the ways both sides try to gain an edge.
The Iranian director of Dakar’s branch of Al-Mustafa makes no secret of his concerns over his Saudi rivals. “The Salafists came to Africa to destroy … Islam,” said Chiekh Abbas Motaghedi in February.
Up the road, in the APIJ building, the Salafists show equal passion.
“We cannot accept the Iranian influence in Senegal, and we’ll do everything to fight it,” said Chiekh Ibrahima Niang, the imam, sitting legs crossed in a silky white robe. “We need to show the world that Shi’ism is wrong.”
But for Senegal, either influence would be a disruption. It’s a society that has always leaned towards political moderation, thanks largely to a tradition of tolerance espoused by its Sufi orders or “brotherhoods.”…”
8 UAE princesses stand trial in Belgium for ‘continually abusing’ servants (RT, May 12, 2017)
https://www.rt.com/news/388025-emirates-princess-trial-abuse/
“Eight princesses from the United Arab Emirates who brought their servants to Belgium and “abused them continually” have gone on trial.
Back in 2008, Princess Shekha Alnehayan, as well as her seven daughters, arrived in Brussels and booked a luxury suite – which is an entire floor, according to the Tribune de Geneve media outlet – at the Conrad Hotel for several months.
The Alnehayans are among the numerous wealthy families in the UAE, and came into the spotlight when they purchased English Premier League soccer club Manchester City back in 2008.
The women brought with them up to 23 servants of eight different nationalities, who “were not paid” and “worked day and night and had to sleep on the floor.”
They were also “shouted at” and abused by the princesses, who refused to let the staff leave the hotel, according to Patricia LeCocq, spokesperson for the Belgian human rights organization Myria, as cited by Deutsche Welle.
Later, one of the workers managed to escape and ran to the nearest police station, describing the situation and prompting law enforcement officers to later show up at the hotel.
At the time, one of the maids, identified as Jamila, told local media outlet La Derniere Heure: “I did not have a room, I slept in the corridor on the floor. There was constant verbal abuse. The princesses did not like their Moroccan and Tunisian maids. They called us b****es.”
An investigation was subsequently launched, but took almost a decade to make its way to a Belgian court. The princesses’ defense team has repeatedly claimed that security forces violated their rights by searching their suite in Brussels.
The princesses are now standing trial, however, with the first hearing taking place on Thursday. The women face charges of human trafficking and breaching Belgian labor regulations.
One possible explanation as to why the case took so long to make it to court is the lack of attention from the media, activists said.
“I couldn’t believe that the media didn’t report on this more,” Nicholas McGeehan from Human Rights Watch told Deutsche Welle.
McGeehan hopes that the latest trial will change things for the better. According to the rights activist, if the women are convicted, “it will link one of the wealthiest families in the world to human trafficking and slavery.”
However, there is little chance of success, activists said.“The problem is that this case is already several years old. Even if the princesses are convicted, chances are the verdict could be very mild,” Le Cocq noted.
In January, the European Court of Human Rights reviewed a case involving a family from Dubai bringing three Philippine servants to Vienna, with the women reportedly having to take care of the children and household round the clock, and being threatened whenever they made a mistake.
However, the court decided that the trial had “no realistic chance of success” as there is no legal basis between the UAE and Austria to carry out such proceedings.”

France: Police hunt Muslim over three shootings, has 14 prior convictions
MAY 12, 2017 6:40 AM BY ROBERT SPENCER 6 COMMENTS
“Police say the suspect is already known to them but have not said whether they believe the shootings have links to terrorism.”
We have already seen many times that authorities in France and all over the Western world are extremely wary of calling jihadis jihadis. Even the fact that they didn’t rule it out immediately makes it likely that he is killing in the name of the Allah who instructed his slaves to “kill them wherever you find them” (Qur’an 2:191, 4:89, 9:5).
“Police say Abadia runs a parcel transport company and already has 14 prior convictions.”
Fourteen prior convictions. How many chances does Abadia get? Would reining him in be “Islamophobic”?

Anxiety mounts as Italy moves to get more migrants out
ROME (AFP) –
Behind the high fences of the repatriation centre at Ponte Galeria, just down the road from Rome’s Fiumicino airport, dozens of women sit outside, waiting for word on whether they will have to leave Italy.
But as the government steps up its efforts to send more migrants home, many who pinned their hopes on asylum appeals are growing increasingly worried.
This week an official decree paved the way for the creation of 11 more repatriation centres capable of housing 1,600 people pending deportation, on top of the four currently in operation.
At Ponte Galeria, in courtyards easily mistaken for cages, Khadigia Shabbi, 47, can barely hold back her tears.
“Here we are dying,” the former Libyan university lecturer says.
Arrested in Palermo at the end of 2015 and convicted of inciting terrorism, Shabbi protests her innocence and has requested asylum.
She is not alone. Half of the 63 women at Ponte Galeria, which AFP was able to visit, have made similar requests.
Several are from Nigeria, having crossed Libya to reach Italy. But there are also Ukrainians and Chinese.

Exclusive: Indonesian Islamist leader says ethnic Chinese wealth is next target
JAKARTA (Reuters) – The leader of a powerful Indonesian Islamist organization that led the push to jail Jakarta’s Christian governor has laid out plans for a new, racially charged campaign targeting economic inequality and foreign investment.
In a rare interview, Bachtiar Nasir said the wealth of Indonesia’s ethnic Chinese minority was a problem and advocated an affirmative action program for native Indonesians, comments that could stoke tensions already running high in the world’s largest Muslim-majority nation.
“It seems they do not become more generous, more fair,” the cleric said, referring to Chinese Indonesians, in the interview in an Islamic center in South Jakarta. “That’s the biggest problem.”
Ethnic Chinese make up less than 5 percent of Indonesia’s population, but they control many of its large conglomerates and much of its wealth.
Nasir also said also that foreign investment, especially investment from China, has not helped Indonesians in general.
Indonesia, Southeast Asia’s biggest economy, is a major destination for foreign investment in the mining and retail sectors. Jakarta is also trying to lure investors for a $450 billion infrastructure drive to revive economic growth.

The Comey moment for each of us
By J.E. Dyer May 12, 2017
I was mildly surprised to see people on the right made uneasy about the firing of James Comey, after months of legitimate criticism levied against Comey from both Democrats and Republicans.
It didn’t surprise me at all to see Democrats who’ve been railing against Comey for months suddenly “terrified” that a president who clearly has the executive discretion to fire him went ahead and did so. The Democrats made sure to frame all their concerns as a reason for appointing a special prosecutor. They wanted one before Comey was fired; they wanted one before Trump was even inaugurated; and they still want one. Comey’s ouster is just the latest excuse to call for one.
The actual role of a special prosecutor – a post-Civil War contrivance, first used in the 1870s to investigate the “Whiskey Ring,” and used relatively rarely since – has never, in modern times, been to get to the truth about anything. It has been, rather, to hold administrations at risk for as long as possible, threshing the witness statements of people who can’t be indicted because they haven’t done anything illegal, in order to find minor inconsistencies.
Even in the most famous case of all (Watergate), the special prosecution didn’t accomplish anything meaningful directly. Rather, it wore down the Nixon White House – which did, let us stipulate, appear to be involved in a cover-up of the infamous break-in at the center of the drama – until Richard Nixon decided to resign, rather than let the political nightmare continue.
http://libertyunyielding.com/2017/05/12/comey-moment-us/
She is right, there is no evidence just a lot of talk, and she is right about the reason the Dems ant a Special Prosecutor, they want to keep dragging their accusations in front of the cameras until President Trump is forced to resign. We must keep this in mind every time we hear this story on the news.
Denmark: Jewish leaders complain in gentle, tentative manner when imam calls for killing them
By J.E. Dyer May 11, 2017
We discussed a few weeks ago the concept of “proleptic dhimmitude.”
Our guide, Dr. Richard Landes, describes proleptic dhimmitude thus:
Let us consider the latest news, below, as an instance of proleptic dhimmitude. An imam in Denmark has been accused of calling for the murder of Jews. Some Danish Jews are concerned about that.
Here is the brief against the imam:

BREITBART – WATCH: ‘Fight the Jews and Kill Them’ – Outrage in Copenhagen at Imam’s Call
A prophesy appearing to call for the murder of Jews repeated during a sermon at a Copenhagen mosque has caused outrage in Denmark after it was released online.
Mundhir Abdallah was reported to police after being filmed repeating in Arabic an anti-Semitic hadith- a teaching of Muhammad. The verse says “Judgment Day will not come until the Muslims fight the Jews and kill them.”
He declares a “caliphate” is coming – that is a state governed in accordance with Islamic Sharia law. It will be part of a jihad to unite the Muslim community and liberate the al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem, according to the Islamic faith.
Then Abdallah says, “the words of the Prophet Muhammad will be fulfilled” and cites the hadith.
A part of the 30-minute address – originally released on YouTube and Facebook – was later translated by the Washington-based Middle East Media Research Institute (Memri).
In the video, Abdallah is seen standing in the Al-Faruq Mosque with a black flag with the Shahadah written on it, similar to those used by jihadist groups such as al-Qaeda. Watch below:
Jewish community leader Dan Rosenberg told the Politiken newspaper: “We are concerned weak and impressionable people may perceive this kind of preaching as a clear call to violence and terror against Jews.”
Immigration and Integration Minister Inger Stojberg also expressed outrage.
“This is completely preposterous, undemocratic and awful,” the Venstre politician wrote on Facebook. “But it also shows why we need to lead a harsh and consistent policy. We cannot and should not accept this!”
A Social Democrat politician added his voice to the clamour of disapproval.
“I think there should be erected a criminal case against the imam and mosque. For no matter how you interpret it, is called for the killing of Jews, ” said Lars Aslan Rasmussen as reported by news agency Ritzau.

Don’t believe the hype: Most millennials DON’T support constitutional rights
By Benny Huang May 12, 2017
What at first seemed like a ray of hope that there could be a reawakening of Constitutional principles turned out, after at the briefest of inspections, to be a chimera.
First, the (illusory) good news: a recent poll found that most young adults buy into bedrock principles of the First Amendment such as free speech and free exercise of religion. Several conservative websites picked up on this poll, probably because an accompanying press release blared “New National Survey: Vast, Silent Majority of Millennials Overwhelmingly Support Religious and Social Freedoms.” This smelled fishy to me because today’s college students seem enamored with authoritarian college administrations—and enraged with those that aren’t authoritarian enough. They not only accept the enforcement of orthodoxy, they demand it.
But I must be wrong about young adults’ authoritarian tendencies, because the proof of their classical liberalism is right there in the press release. Among 803 young adults surveyed, supermajorities said they supported free exercise of religion and free speech. So rest easy, folks: the next generation stands ready to carry the torch of liberty into the future.

Are Islamists Conducting a New Jihad against the West?
by William DiPuccio
May 12, 2017 at 5:00 am
https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/10335/jihad-against-west
About four decades have passed since Sheikh ‘Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Humaid (1908-1981), ex-Chief Justice of Saudi Arabia, published his lengthy, impassioned, essay on jihad.[1] This essay, still available on the Internet, is the only one that Saudi religious scholars chose to include with the Noble Quran — a modern, nine volume, English translation of the Quran, which includes ancient commentary.[2]
A cursory reading of Sheikh bin Humaid’s essay should forever silence any fantasies regarding traditional Islam’s peaceful disposition toward the non-Muslim world.[3] As the Saudi publisher says in his prefatory note:
The publisher continues:
To be clear, Sheikh bin Humaid defines “jihad” as “holy fighting in Allah’s Cause.” This is not, in other words, the “lesser jihad,” or “spiritual struggle,” that some Muslim apologists cite, possibly to obfuscate the primary historical usage of the word. Jihad is war fought with “the heart,” “the hand (weapons, etc.),” and “the tongue” (2).
Iran: Destabilizing the Middle East Through Proxy Allies
It is a known fact throughout the region that the Islamic Republic of Iran founded the Lebanese Hezbollah as an offspring to expand its influence in the Middle East and gain a foothold on the shores of the Mediterranean.
U.S. National Security Advisor Lt. General H.R. McMaster recently accused Tehran of imposing the “Hezbollah model” to gain influence over various Middle East states, destabilizing the region through the process.
Such a blueprint includes targeting vulnerable governments across the region through a variety of plots while, at the same time, backing armed militia groups stationed in those countries. Hezbollah has already managed to consolidate its influence over the government of Lebanon after Michel Aoun, a Hezbollah ally, took control over the country’s presidency last year.
It has also become quite obvious that the United States, despite the highly flawed nuclear deal which supposedly aimed to curb Iran’s nuclear program, enjoys the leverage of pressuring Iran through the use of comprehensive sanctions. Tehran will likely not forget this obvious factor and knows the Trump administration can kick-start new sanctions whnever it deems necessary.

Kenya: 2 quarry workers killed in suspected extremist attack (abcnews, May 12, 2017)
http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/kenya-quarry-workers-killed-suspected-extremist-attack-47368275
“Two quarry workers were shot dead Friday and one was missing in a suspected extremist attack in Kenya’s northern county of Mandera, a government official said.
The attack took place in the town of Elwak, Regional Coordinator Mohamud Saleh said. Workers had been asked to leave the site because al-Shabab fighters based in neighboring Somalia had been seen in the area a few days earlier, he said.
It was the third time quarry workers had been targeted by suspected extremists in Mandera in the past two years. The majority of quarry workers in the region are not Muslim, according to officials.
Mandera is next to the Somali border and has been hardest hit in recent years by an al-Shabab campaign to avenge Kenyan troop presence in Somalia since 2011. Kenya’s troops are part of the African Union force in Somalia helping the fragile central government counter al-Shabab’s insurgency…”
3 Things You Should Know About Indonesia’s Growing Radicalization
Former governor of Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, commonly known as Ahok, can pinpoint his loss to Anies Baswedan in this year’s gubernatorial election to a criminal trial in which he was found guilty of blasphemy against Islam.
Ahok, a Christian, was charged with blasphemy after he quoted a verse from the Quran to prove that, according to Islam, Muslims are allowed to vote for a non-Muslims.
The campaign against Ahok and his subsequent loss in the election are symptoms of the growing Islamization of Indonesia. The anti-Ahok campaign was supported by Islamist groups like Hizbut Tahrir — which aims to bring create a strict Sharia-based state — where adulterers are stoned and thieves have their hand amputated and the Salafists, a Saudi-based movement which strives for a return to the “purest” form of Islam (i.e., that which was practiced by Mohammed himself and the first generations of Muslims).
The type of government these groups desire already exists in Indonesia’s Aceh province. Sharia law was instituted in Aceh in 2001 and has grown increasingly strict.Today in Aceh, women are required by law to dress modestly, alcohol is largely banned, and adultery, homosexuality, various displays of “immodesty” between men and women as well as other crimes are punished by public caning. Non-Muslims and tourists are also subject to sharia punishments in Aceh.

“A court in the Caspian Sea nation of Azerbaijan has affirmed action by the communications ministry, which has blocked the access to several independent news media websites.
The local court in the capital Baku on Friday upheld action by the country’s communications ministry to block the access to the Azeri-language website of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty as well as several key independent news websites.
The websites have been unavailable in this former Soviet republic since late March when the ministry shut down the access following a prosecutor’s petition decrying “threats to legitimate interests of the government and society.”
Samed Rahimli, a lawyer representing one of the media websites, said he and the other defendants would appeal the ruling.”

The deputy director of the National Emergency Management Agency, Bandele Onimode, says some of the 258 returnees are suffering from depression and malnutrition. Four children and an infant were among the group that arrived in Lagos late Thursday.
This is the second time in less than a month that hundreds of deportees have been brought back to Nigeria from Libya.

The man who has replaced fired FBI Director James Comey has been heralded by the bureau’s leaders for his long career investigating organized crime and domestic terrorism.
But the fallout from the investigation of Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while she was secretary of state may still damage the credibility of Andrew McCabe, the acting director, who will serve until a successor is appointed and confirmed by the Senate.

“As you know, Mr. McCabe is under investigation by the Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General. That investigation is examining whether the political and financial connections between his wife’s Democratic political campaign and Clinton associates warranted his recusal in the FBI’s Clinton email investigation.
On March 7, 2015, just five days after the New York Times broke the story about Secretary Clinton’s use of private email for official business, Mr. McCabe met with Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe, a longtime, close associate of the Clintons—along with his wife, Dr. McCabe.
Mr. McAuliffe recruited Dr. McCabe, who had not previously run for any political office, to be the Democratic candidate for a Virginia state senate seat. Dr. McCabe agreed, and Governor McAuliffe’s political action committee subsequently gave nearly $500,000 to her campaign while the FBI’s investigation of Secretary Clinton was ongoing.
The Virginia Democratic Party, over which Mr. McAuliffe exerts considerable control, also donated over $200,000 to Dr. McCabe’s campaign. While Mr. McCabe recused himself from public corruption cases in Virginia—presumably including the reportedly ongoing investigation of Mr. McAuliffe regarding illegal campaign contributions—he failed to recuse himself from the Clinton email investigation, despite the appearance of a conflict created by his wife’s campaign accepting $700,000 from a close Clinton associate during the investigation.”

At least 35 people were wounded in the blast near the town of Mastung, 50 km (30 miles) from the provincial capital of Quetta. Television footage showed a vehicle mangled by the blast.

Keith Olbermann Asks Russia to Overthrow US Government
May 12, 2017
Daniel Greenfield
The moral arc of the left bends slowly but surely toward treason. Even when they pretend to be patriots, they will never be satisfied but that they insist on going full circle from feigned patriotism to open treason. The left has been playing patriot insisting that they want to save America from the Russians. Only to demand that the Russians save us from Trump.
In his latest video, Comrade Olbermann, Hero of the Resistance, asks the Russians to overthrow President Trump. Because if you ever had any doubts as to whether the left hates the Russians more than America, let there be no doubt. They always hate America more.
“I appeal to the intelligence agencies and the governments of what is left of the free world,” Keith Olbermann declares. “To them as entities, entireties as bureaucracies making official decisions, and to the individuals who make decisions of conscience. To GCHQ and MI6 in the UK, to the BND in Germany, the DGSE in France, the ASIS in Australia, and even of the GRU in Russia, where they must already be profoundly aware that they have not merely helped put an amoral cynic in power here, but an uncontrollable one, whose madness is genuine and whose usefulness—even to them—is at an end.”
Technically this is treason. Not that’s a new look for the left.
