“Voters in the canton of Glarus have said no to imposing a ban on the burqa.
The motion, proposed by a member of the right-wing Swiss People’s Party (SVP), was rejected on Sunday by the Landsgemeinde, reported news agencies.
Around 6,000 people gathered under rainy skies for the Landsgemeinde – the canton’s open-air public assembly – to hear the arguments for and against the suggestion of Roland Hämmerli which he said would allow people to “live in security in our canton”.
If accepted, the bill would have outlawed the covering of the face in public, effectively banning the burqa and niqab.
Currently the canton of Ticino is the only Swiss canton to have approved such a ban, which came into effect last year.
The idea has also been proposed at federal level, though in March the Swiss upper house of parliament rejected the bill by hardline Swiss People’s Party (SVP) MP Walter Wobmann.
However the issue could still be decided by the Swiss public, if a popular initiative on the subject launched by Wobmann gathers the required number of signatures by September.
The Glarus government had recommended that citizens reject the cantonal motion, saying it would be better to wait and see if it goes to a federal vote.
Glarus is one of only two cantons in Switzerland that still vote using a Landsgemeinde. The canton’s highest authority, it is held once a year on the first Sunday in May. The various issues on the table are decided by those in favour raising their hands.”

“Belgium has joined Denmark, Switzerland and New Zealand in banning the slaughter of non-stunned animals. The country’s Wallooon region issued a legislation to ban Muslim halal and Jewish kosher meat starting September 1, 2019.
The law was voted on by the Environment Committee of Southern Belgium’s Walloon Parliament, arguing that while Islamic and Jewish slaughtering rituals both require the animal to be conscious before swiftly slitting its throat, rendering animals unconscious before the slaughter is more merciful and humane.
Belgium’s Muslim community reacted to the law saying that the religious council has previously opposed stunned slaughter, however no change has been made.
“Muslims are worried about whether they can eat halal food in conformity with their religious rites and beliefs,” the Belgian Muslim Executive said.
The European Jewish Congress (EJC) also criticized the law, explaining that it “attacks the very core of our culture and religious practice and our status as equal citizens with equal rights in a democratic society. It gives succor to anti-Semites and to those intolerant of other communities and faiths.”
“This decision, in the heart of Western Europe and the center of the European Union, sends a terrible message to Jewish communities throughout our continent that Jews are unwanted,” EJC president Moshe Kantor said.
“We call on legislators to step back from the brink of the greatest assault on Jewish religious rights in Belgium since the Nazi occupation of the country in World War II,” he added.
A poll by Eurobarometer in 2012 showed that 5 percent of the Belgium population is Muslim, while the Jews in the country accounted for 0.4 percent of the population.”

But above all, the West, and indeed the non-Muslim world, should make our countries Islam-unfriendly and implement a policy of containment of Dar al-Islam. This is the most civilized thing we can do in order to save ourselves, but also to limit the loss of life among both Muslims and non-Muslims.

“Turkish prosecutors have demanded 3,623 aggravated life sentences for the U.S.-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen, as a total of all cases filed against him.
In addition to the aggravated life terms, the prosecutors also sought 2,923 years in jail for Gülen, widely believed to have been behind the failed July 15, 2016 coup attempt, daily Yeni ?afak reported on May 8.
A judicial fine equivalent to 2.2 million days was also imposed on Gülen, who was named as the prime suspect in 22 cases filed across Turkey regarding the thwarted coup that left 249 people killed and 2,193 wounded.
Meanwhile, police have determined that the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), referring to the followers of Gülen, has been hiding members in safe houses. After it was found that the group has been hiding its members sought over the coup attempt at these addresses, the police launched an operation, daily Milliyet reported on May 8.
According to the police, FETÖ was helping its members hide at these locations before helping them move abroad. The Istanbul police’s anti-terror branch conducted the operations as a part of an investigation, in which 78 detention warrants were issued.
The police found that 62 out of 78 sought suspects were in Istanbul on April 22 and raided 53 addresses in 21 districts.
Some 42 suspects were apprehended in the aforementioned raids and 19 others were detained later. While 40 of those detained were arrested, the search to apprehend 17 suspects is ongoing.
The owner of the Emex Hotel chain, Sadettin Ulubay, is reportedly among those arrested.
One of the suspects was released while the other 20 were released on condition of judicial control.
According to police, those being hidden in safe houses including police officers and soldiers, as well as Gülenists providing intelligence to the National Intelligence Agency (M?T).”

Officers are said to have emptied a train of more than 200 people that was arriving from the northern town of Valenciennes as they searched for the trio, whose profiles were apparently flagged to French security chiefs by a “partner country” on Friday.
Since then, there have been three reported sightings in Paris, Marseille and Bordeaux.
The latest sighting was made by a conductor and a ticket vendor, the paper claimed, and sparked the huge police presence.

Paris’ Gare du Nord train station was evacuated last night as armed police reportedly searched for three “dangerous” terror suspects.
The station was cordoned off at around 11pm local time as armed police poured in and evacuated the site. Passengers were confined to trains, according to witnesses.
According to Le Parisien newspaper, police proceeded to evacuate and search a specific high speed train from Valenciennes, northern France, with 200 people on board.
They were looking for three men that a “partner country” had warned French intelligence last Friday were due to arrive in France where they are suspected of seeking to carry out an imminent attack.
Since then, there have been reported sightings of the trio in Paris, Bordeaux and Marseille, each time prompting a major police operation – to no avail.
This time, the French capital’s daily said, a train conductor and ticket vendor had alerted police to their possible presence.
Unconfirmed reports said two of the men were thought to be Belgian nationals and one Afghan.
The Paris police headquarters later said the “verification” operation was to “dispel any doubt” about a threat.
French police said there was an operation underway at the busy station, which is the terminus of a large suburban and national rail network as well as Eurostar trains from London and Thalys lines to and from Brussels and Amsterdam.
It later gradually began reopening the station early on Tuesday. “End of security checks. Gradual return to normal,” Paris police said in a tweet.
Authorities gave no other details about the nature of the operation.
Dave James Phillips, a 39-year-old technology consultant from Britain, said he was getting off the last train in from London when he saw officers flooding the station.
“There were police immediately, and a chap with his hand on his gun,” Mr Phillips told AP. “As we were walking down the platform, one came down and said, ‘Rapide, rapide. Out, out.'”
Mr Phillips said police kept pouring into the station as passengers were hustled out and police buses and unmarked cars were “driving quite dramatically up the road.”
Mr Phillips said he had since left the area. “Hopefully nothing happened,” he said.
Benjamin, 29, had just got off a train from Lille at 11.15pm when police officers in “classic uniform asked us to leave the station fast”.
“As we were going towards the metro, we crossed paths with a more heavily-armed police unit”, equipped with bullet-proof shields, he told Le Parisien.
“When we passed by this police unit, people around us started to panic, shout and run towards the metro exits,” he is cited as saying.
A Eurostar spokesman said the incident did not appear to have any relation to its trains and did not appear to affect its passengers. The operation began after the last Eurostar arrivals and departures late Monday.

Last year, Barack Obama administration turned over $1.7 billion to Iran in two separate transactions. The first installment was $400 million in hard cash, flown out on a Revolutionary Guard plane in the dark of night. The transfer amounted to partial payment of a ransom of four Iranian-Americans and, when it was uncovered, the Obama administration said it was Iran’s money and it would be used to improve their economy.
The former president said the removal of sanctions, which included the release of these funds, was a goodwill gesture, not a ransom. He also released 21 or more Iranian spies as a goodwill gesture. Congress is now investigating that activity because it is said to have severely damaged his own counterterrorism unit.
After the transfer, then-secretary of state John Kerry admitted at least some of it would be used for terror.
Iran requested cash because because it’s hard to trace.

Former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates, testifying in the Senate on Monday, attempted to defend her decision to defy President Donald Trump’s executive order suspending travel from several terror-prone countries in January.
Yates told the Senate Judiciary Committee that her decision was made “not purely as a policy matter,” but suggested that she had been guided by “statements” that were made “contemporaneously or prior” to the order.
She did not specify which statements she meant, but several of the judges who have blocked the executive order — and its less ambitious successor — have referred to statements made by Trump on the campaign trail about a “Muslim ban.”
Under questioning, Yates admitted that “people of goodwill can make different decisions about this” — having just argued, moments before, that the conclusion of the Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Counsel was so wrong that it had to be overruled.

At least 40 people were injured after twin blasts hit the Thai town of Pattani on Tuesday, AFP reported.
The first suspected car bomb exploded at the entrance of a Big-C shopping center in downtown Pattani after attackers parked a pickup truck outside the center. A second bomb was detonated when people fled the first explosion, local media reported.

A 30-year-old man originally from Africa is being charged with the murder of two Boston doctors who were discovered dead with their throats slit in their penthouse apartment Friday night, according to multiple reports.
While responding to a call that an armed man was in an upscale Boston apartment building, police arrived at the scene to find Bampumim Teixeira. Two police officers opened fire at Teixeira because they believe he “either pointed or fired a weapon at them,” according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. Prosecutors allegedly said he did not shoot at the police, despite original reports. He was arraigned Monday while still in his hospital bed. Boston police say no officers were struck by bullets during the violent exchange.

Seven young men who allegedly tried to set a homeless man on fire were brought to the local court in Berlin for the start of their trial, Tuesday. Six of the men, who are all asylum seekers from Syria and Libya, are accused of attempted murder, while the seventh is accused of failure to render assistance.
Security camera inside metro station Schoenleinstrasse captured the defendants as they approached a sleeping homeless man and lit fire to his backpack, which was lying under his head, last Christmas day. Other travellers managed to extinguish the fire before the victim got hurt.
Spain: Police officers injured as refugees storm Ceuta border fence
Around 300 refugees of sub-Saharan origin stormed the border that separates Morocco and Melilla, a Spanish enclave in northern Africa, Tuesday. Reportedly, around 100 refugees successfully crossed into Spain while at least three police officers were injured after being pelted with stones by the border-crossers.
There is a large permanent presence of refugees on the border of the two Spanish enclaves in North Africa; Ceuta and Melilla.

“Three-hundred sub-Saharan migrants attempted to force their way across the high double fence between Morocco and the Spanish enclave of Melilla on Tuesday.
According to Agence France Presse (AFP), 100 migrants managed to successfully storm over the fence, which is six meters high with cables criss-crossed between.
The attempt was carried out around 5 am GMT, a Spanish Police spokesperson said.
Clashes erupted between the migrants and Spanish police, leaving three officers injured. The Spanish Interior Ministry said in a statement that migrants had kicked and thrown rocks at the officers.
Migrants in Morocco often try to force their way into Melilla and Ceuta, the other Spanish enclave on Moroccan soil, in a desperate attempt to reach Europe.
In February around 850 migrants entered Ceuta, storming across the border over four days.”

Jakarta governor sentenced to 2 years prison for blasphemy
AKARTA, Indonesia (AP) – An Indonesian court sentenced the minority Christian governor of Jakarta to two years in prison on Tuesday for blaspheming the Quran, a jarring ruling that undermines the reputation of the world’s largest Muslim nation for practicing a moderate form of Islam.
In announcing its decision, the five-judge panel said Gov. Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama was “convincingly proven guilty of blasphemy” and ordered his arrest. He was taken to Cipinang Prison in east Jakarta. At the court, supporters of the governor wept and hugged each other amid shouts of jubilation from members of conservative Islamic groups.
Photos quickly appeared online of Ahok, who still commands immense popularity in Jakarta, the capital, being warmly greeted by prison staff. Ahok said he would appeal, but it was unclear if he would be released once that process is underway.
By early evening, hundreds of angry supporters had gathered at the high-security prison, some pushing hard against a tall metal gate and others setting a tire alight. “Brothers and sisters, justice has died in this country,” said a man addressing the crowd with a megaphone.
The accusation of blasphemy engulfed Ahok in September after a video surfaced of him telling voters they were being deceived if they believed a specific verse in the Quran prohibited Muslims from voting for a non-Muslim leader.
Massive street protests in the past six months against Ahok and Tuesday’s verdict are among the signs of an increasing religious conservatism in Indonesia. In Western capitals, the country has traditionally been seen as a bulwark of tolerance and pluralism in the Islamic world. Vigilante groups frequently attempt with impunity to prevent Indonesia’s religious minorities from practicing their faiths, and the country’s gay community has faced a surge in persecution in the past two years.
The blasphemy case was a decisive factor in Ahok’s defeat to a Muslim candidate in last month’s election for Jakarta governor. Hard-line Islamic groups opposed to having a non-Muslim leader for the city capitalized on the trial to draw hundreds of thousands to anti-Ahok protests in Jakarta that shook the centrist government of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.
“Hard-liners will feel emboldened by the ruling, given that the trial represents a wider tussle between pluralism and Islamism in Indonesia,” said Hugo Brennan, an analyst at Verisk Maplecroft, a political risk assessment firm in Singapore.
Outside the court, Syamsu Hilal, a member of a hard-line Muslim group who reported Ahok to police last year, said justice had been upheld.
“Here we have witnessed that the judge has become a representative of God,” he said.
The sentence was also welcomed by the youth arm of Muhammadiyah, Indonesia’s second-largest mainstream Muslim organization.
But Ahok supporter Adrian Sianturi said the trial was a victory for intolerance and corruption.
“This decision is the character assassination of a good governor, a clean politician who is rare in this country,” he said.
The two-year prison sentence was a surprise outcome after prosecutors had recommended two years of probation. The maximum sentence for blasphemy in Indonesia is five years in prison.
The lead judge, Dwiarso Budi Santiarto, said the trial was a purely criminal one and that the court disagreed that there were political aspects to the case.
He said Ahok’s comments during the election campaign had degraded and insulted Islam.
“As part of a religious society, the defendant should be careful to not use words with negative connotations regarding the symbols of religions including the religion of the defendant himself,” he said.
Wayan Sudirta, a lawyer for Ahok, said there was “so much pressure” for Ahok to be imprisoned.
“We can understand but we cannot accept the verdict. Therefore we will appeal,” he said.
Ahok rose from deputy governor in 2014 after Jokowi vacated the capital’s governorship following his victory in Indonesia’s presidential election that year.
He was popular with Jakarta’s middle class for efforts to stamp out corruption and make the teeming city more livable. But others were alienated by Ahok’s outspokenness and the demolition of slums that were home to Jakarta’s poorest residents.

French President Macron Gains Backing of Former Socialist Prime Minister Manuel Valls
Former French Prime Minister Manuel Valls Tuesday said that he would support the political movement started last year by President-elect Emmanuel Macron in the coming June legislative elections.
“I will be a candidate of the presidential majority, and I would like to sign up to his movement, namely the ‘Republic on the Move,'” Mr. Valls said in an interview with RTL Radio.
After winning his bid to lead France, Mr. Macron is now working in gaining control of its parliament. His fledgling party, En Marche (On the Move), needs to forge alliances with, or recruit, establishment politicians from both sides of the political aisle to create a Macron majority when the French return to the polls for a two-round legislative vote scheduled for June 11 and 18.
Socialist President Francois Hollande named the openly pro-business Mr. Valls as his prime minister in 2014. Mr. Valls stepped down from the role last December to launch a bid for the presidency that ultimately failed.

French ex-prime minister Valls offers to back Macron in June elections
French president-elect Emmanuel Macron won an offer of support from Socialist ex-prime minister Manuel Valls on Tuesday as he and his aides worked on strategy ahead of parliamentary elections that will be crucial to his ambitious reform plans.
The 39-year-old centrist’s emphatic election victory over the anti-European Union Marine Le Pen of the National Front on Sunday brought relief to France’s EU allies and financial markets.
But, once he has moved into the Elysee Palace next week, Macron faces the task of securing a second election victory in June for his start-up party, now renamed “En Marche la République” or “Republic on the Move”, in order to get the majority needed to implement his plans for economic recovery.
Successive centre-right and centre-left governments have failed to pull France out of deep economic malaise which includes slow growth, high unemployment of around 10 percent and dwindling competitiveness.
Macron’s “En Marche” party currently has no seats in parliament, though an opinion poll last week predicted it would emerge as the largest in the parliamentary elections next month.
A majority would provide Macron with a decent chance of implementing a blueprint for lower state spending, higher investment and reform of the tax, labour and pensions systems.
Politicians from the traditional parties in France have taken on the air of survivors from a ship-wreck following Macron’s triumph which in particular dealt a death blow to the Socialists. Their candidate, Benoit Hamon, secured only six per cent of the vote in the first round on April 23.
Party grandees in the conservative The Republicans party, whose candidate Francois Fillon also crashed out in the first round, were scheduled to meet on Tuesday evening.
Some key members of the centrist arm of The Republicans appear ready to override the party hierarchy and work closely with Macron.
But a strong element in The Republicans is eyeing the possibility of a power-sharing arrangement with him in government, if the conservatives perform well in June. On past form in French politics this leaves an incumbent president unable to control economic policy.
Tuesday’s offer by Valls to stand for “En Marche” in the two-stage legislative elections in June is the first high-profile defection since Macron’s election win and could be a boost for him.
As a pro-business prime minister under outgoing President Francois Hollande, Valls is a kindred spirit of Macron who worked in his government as economy minister.
But Macron will be cautious about inviting too many prominent former Socialists into his movement as that would lend ammunition to conservative opponents portraying his administration as a continuation of Hollande’s unpopular rule.
NON-COMMITTAL RESPONSE
Valls’ overture received a non-committal response from Macron’s party. Party spokesman Benjamin Griveaux said Valls had not applied to the party’s selection committee and had 24 hours left to do so.
Whether Valls’s offer has been accepted will be known on Thursday when the names of Macron’s 577 candidates in the legislative elections will be announced.

The NSA Confirms It: Russia Hacked French Election ‘Infrastructure’
TWO DAYS BEFORE France’s recent presidential election, hackers leaked nine gigabytes of emails from candidate Emmanuel Macron’s campaign onto the web. Since then, the Kremlin has once again emerged as the likeliest culprit. But while public evidence can’t definitively prove Russia’s involvement, NSA director Michael Rogers suggested to Congress today that America’s most powerful cybersecurity agency has pinned at least some electoral interference on Moscow.
In a hearing of the Senate’s Armed Forces Committee, Rogers indicated that the NSA had warned French cybersecurity officials ahead of the country’s presidential runoff that Russian hackers had compromised some elements of the election. For skeptics, that statement may help tip the balance towards credibly blaming Russia for the attacks.
“If you take a look at the French election … we had become aware of Russian activity,” Rogers said in response to questions from senator Kirsten Gillibrand about the allegations of Russia hacking the Macron campaign. “We had talked to our French counterparts prior to the public announcements of the events publicly attributed this past weekend and gave them a heads-up: ‘Look, we’re watching the Russians, we’re seeing them penetrate some of your infrastructure.’”
It’s not clear what “infrastructure” means in this context, but it seems likely to refer to the very public email dump. On Friday, Macron’s En Marche political party issued a statement saying that it had “been the victim of a massive, coordinated act of hacking,” but didn’t name Russia or any other culprit behind that attack. Analysts already suspected Russia of at least attempting to breach Macron’s party: Security firm Trend Micro noted in a report late last month that the same Russian group that hacked the US Democratic National Committee and the Clinton campaign had also created a phishing domain intended to spoof a Microsoft storage website used by Macron. And the trove of Macron’s party emails published as torrent files Friday included metadata in Cyrillic, suggesting that they had been edited on a computer running software with Russian-language configurations. That metadata even included the name Roshka Georgiy Petrovich, reportedly an employee of the Russian intelligence contractor Eureka.
But at the time of the Trend Micro report, the Macron campaign denied it had been breached. And for some cybersecurity analysts, the Russian metadata included in the leak was so blatant that it raised suspicions that someone—perhaps another country or hacker group—was intending to create a “fall guy” for the attack.
Rogers’ testimony Tuesday, though vague, harbored no such doubts. Early in the hearing, John McCain noted that “we’ve seen another Russian attempt to affect the outcome of an election in France,” and asked Rogers, “Have you seen any reduction in Russian behavior?” Rogers answered flatly “No, I do not.” Later in the hearing, senator Elizabeth Warren stated plainly that Russian hackers had attempted to shift the French election by hacking and releasing one of the candidate’s party’s emails, just as they had in the 2016 US presidential election. Senator Tim Kaine described the last week’s events as a Russian cyberattack “aimed at destabilizing the democracy of an ally.” Rogers offered no correction to either legislator’s comments.
Rogers’ statement could dispel doubt around Russia’s continued involvement in hacking operations aimed at influencing Western democracies. Trend Micro and the German government have both said, for instance, that Russian hackers have attempted to target the party of German chancellor Angela Merkel, and successfully stolen data from the German parliament. In the hearing Tuesday, Rogers said that the NSA has also had conversations with German officials and British officials about protecting their upcoming elections. “We’re all trying to figure how we can learn from each other,” Rogers said.
Rogers emphasized that stopping Russian election interference will require a strategy of deterrence. “We need to make it very clear to nation-states that engage in this behavior that it’s unacceptable,” Rogers said, “and there’s a price to pay for doing this.”
President Trump, meanwhile, has yet to publicly acknowledge the Macron attack, not to mention naming Russia as its source. But if the director of the NSA and a handful of US senators are willing to openly point at Russia—and the US government has any hope of stopping its electoral meddling in the future—it’s now Trump’s turn to do the same.

It’s believed that the leak in France — which came just days before voters went to the polls on Sunday — was intended to help nationalist candidate Marine Le Pen, who is friendly with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Rogers said that his agency is working with other European allies that have elections later this year, noting that U.S. officials are “doing similar things with our German counterparts, our British counterparts.”
Both Germany and Britain have already expressed fears that Russian hackers are trying to sway the outcomes of their elections.
“We’re trying to figure out how we can learn from each other,” Rogers told lawmakers.
Already, the U.S. intelligence community has shared with key European allies its classified findings from an investigation into alleged Russian digital meddling during the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

The head of America’s National Security Agency said Tuesday that Russia was behind the 11th-hour hack of French President-elect Emmanuel Macron’s campaign team, and that US officials had informed France a cyber-attack was underway.
The hacking attack on Macron’s campaign, just hours ahead of Sunday’s run-off vote that saw him elected, led to thousands of files being leaked online.
“We had become aware of Russian activity,” Admiral Mike Rogers told a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing.
“We had talked to our French counterparts prior to the public announcements of the events that were publicly attributed this past weekend and gave them a heads up.
“‘Look, we’re watching the Russians, we’re seeing them penetrate some of your infrastructure. Here’s what we’ve seen, what can we do to try and assist?'” said Rogers, who also heads US Cyber Command.
The NSA chief did not specify what type of “infrastructure” has been compromised. He said that the agency was in contact with its counterparts in Britain and Germany ahead of elections in those countries later this year.
Rogers drew comparisons between the hack targeting Macron and those of the US Democratic Party and a close aide to presidential candidate Hillary Clinton ahead of the November election won by Donald Trump.
Washington has officially accused Russia of being behind those hacks, saying Moscow was trying to boost Trump’s chances of victory.
“The Russians appear to be assessing that some leaders might be more inclined to be supportive of their positions,” Rogers told lawmakers.
“You saw that just play out in the French election where there clearly was a difference between these two candidates and their views of Russia,” he said.
Thousands of emails and documents from Macron’s campaign were dumped online by hackers shortly before midnight in France on Friday and were then relayed by anti-secrecy group WikiLeaks.
A statement from the 39-year-old Macron called it a “massive and coordinated” hack. Paris prosecutors have opened a probe into the attack, a source close to the investigation has said.

The incident occurred behind the Mas Oller restaurant in Caldes de Malavella, north east Spain, according to Spanish police.
The children had been playing on the bouncy castle when the incident happened, causing the six-year-old girl to be thrown 45 feet into the air, Sky News reports.

A British man suspected of being part of an Islamic State group that beheaded hostages has been convicted of a terrorism offence in Turkey.
Aine Davis, 33, of London, had been arrested in 2015 near Istanbul.
He was found guilty of being a senior member of a terrorist organisation and jailed for seven-and-a-half years.
The BBC understands Davis was one of a four-man IS cell nicknamed “The Beatles”, which included the person dubbed Jihadi John.
Davis, the only one of the group to face a trial, had denied the charges against him.

California Rep. Eric Swalwell was hammered on CNN Monday for failing to produce evidence to back up his recent claim that the Trump campaign colluded with the Russian government.
CNN anchors John Berman and Poppy Harlow asked Swalwell, a Democratic member of the House Intelligence Committee, about his statement last Friday that he has viewed both classified and unclassified information showing that Trump advisers coordinated with the Kremlin.
“There is fire. I’ve seen evidence on the unclassified and classified side of that fire,” Swalwell said last week.
But when pressed to discuss the unclassified evidence, Swalwell merely rehashed information from widely reported news stories about former Trump advisers Carter Page, Paul Manafort, Roger Stone and Michael Flynn.
All four are reportedly being investigated by the FBI as part of a probe into Russia’s meddling in last year’s presidential election. But so far, no legitimate news outlet has reported any evidence showing that the Trump team worked with the Russians.
Berman and Harlow appeared not to buy Swalwell’s so-called evidence.
“These all may be questionable activity, some of them may actually be in violation of the law, but what you have said on CNN is you have seen evidence of collusion between Trump campaign associates and the Russians,” said Berman.
“That’s an incendiary charge,” he continued, adding that, “if that’s the case, we’re just asking what evidence you have of that.”
“Well, I just gave you two examples, I have a lot more,” a defiant Swalwell replied.
“That’s not evidence of collusion,” Berman interjected. “That’s evidence again, of possible wrongdoing, it’s evidence of sketchy activities, but not, as far as I can tell, that they were actually working together on the campaign.”
“John, I disagree,” Swalwell said before cited a decade-old report about Manafort’s lobbying activities and his work for a Ukrainian politician with links to Russia’s president, Vladimir Putin.
Swalwell then asked the anchors if they trust Manafort’s denials that he coordinated with Russians during the campaign.
“You made these claims. You made these claims of collusion. Where’s the evidence?” Harlow responded.
A defeated Swalwell insisted at the end of the interview there there is “a whole classified side of evidence” supporting his claims about collusion.

Hundreds of workers were in “take cover” position after a tunnel in a plutonium finishing plant collapsed in Hanford, Washington early Tuesday morning.
The tunnel was full of contaminated materials such as hot radioactive trains that transport fuel rods.
A source said crews doing road work nearby may have created enough vibration to cause the collapse.
A manager sent a message to all personnel telling them to “secure ventilation in your building” and “refrain from eating or drinking.”

BREITBART – Erdogan Urges Muslims to Swarm Temple Mount to Save Jerusalem from ‘Judaization’
TEL AVIV — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday urged Muslims to visit the Temple Mount to act as a counter to the “insult” of “occupied Jerusalem,” and called Israel a “racist and discriminatory” state that is reminiscent of apartheid.
Erdogan also met with Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah to work on “unifying efforts to protect Jerusalem against attempts of Judaization,” the independent Palestinian Maan news agency reported.
“We, as Muslims, should be visiting Al-Quds more often,” he said, referring to Jerusalem by its Arabic name.
Erdogan said more Muslim visits to the Jerusalem holy site “would be the greatest support to our brothers there.”
“Both in terms of our religion and historical responsibility, Al-Quds and the fight of our Palestinian brothers for rights and justice is of great importance to us. We will keep making efforts for Quds to turn into a city of peace,” he added.
Hamdallah and Erdogan met in Istanbul to discuss “ways to support Jerusalem.” The meeting was also attended by Palestinian Minister of Waqf and Religious Affairs Youssef Ideiss and Palestinian Governor of Jerusalem Adnan al-Husseini.
“It is impossible to find a solution and peace in the region without finding a fair solution for the Palestinian cause first,” Erdogan was quoted as saying.
“Israel keeps getting away from punishment,” he added, asserting that peace will never be reached “unless Israel is held accountable for its crimes.”
Erdogan also slammed Israel’s policies towards the Palestinians as “racist and discriminatory” and compared Israel to apartheid South Africa.
“What’s the difference between the present acts of the Israeli administration and the racist and discriminatory politics that were practiced against black people in the past in America and up until a short time ago in South Africa?” he asked.
He also sent a veiled threat to President Donald Trump, saying that moving the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem would be “extremely ill-advised.”
Erdogan added that the Israeli-Egyptian blockade of the Gaza Strip “has no place in humanity.”
Israel attacked Erdogan for his comments, calling them “baseless slander” and charging Erdogan with being a “serial human rights violator.”
“Anyone who systemically violates human rights in their own country, should not preach about morality to the only democracy in the region,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
“Israel strictly adheres to protecting full freedom of worship for Jews, Muslims and Christians — and will continue to do so despite this baseless slander,” the statement said.
Erdogan also slammed Israel for the Muezzin Bill, meant to limit the volume on Muslim calls to prayer at certain hours, saying it infringed on religious rights.
“The fact that such an issue is even coming to the agenda is shameful,” he said. “The fact that those who talk about freedom of thought and faith at every opportunity actually approve this step by remaining silent is noteworthy. Inshallah, we will not allow the silencing of prayers from the heavens of Jerusalem.”
“Why are you afraid of the freedom of faith if you believe in your faith? I am now reminding Israeli administrators: If you believe in your faith, then why are you afraid of the sound of our prayers?” he asked.
The spat threatens the newly signed rapprochement deal between Israel and Turkey following a six-year rift in diplomatic relations.

Canada-wide warrant issued for man, 22, who breached his parole: OPP

A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for a 22-year-old man who breached his parole.
Ontario Provincial Police are searching for Abdullahi Mohamed, who was serving a three year and 10 month sentence for discharging a firearm and possession of a prohibited weapon, among other firearm-related offences.
According to police, Mohamed is known to frequent the Greater Toronto Area.
He is described as standing five-foot-seven, weighing 158 pounds with short black hair and brown eyes. He has tattoos on his left arm and on his right hand, arm and forearm.
Anyone with information is asked to call Ontario Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement squad at 416-808-5900 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
