  2. Violent protests have erupted in South Africa’s biggest city for a second day, with police firing rubber bullets at demonstrators who blocked roads and burned tires.

    The riot Tuesday in the Ennerdale neighborhood in southern Johannesburg followed similar unrest a day earlier in the nearby Eldorado Park area. In both cases, protesters have been demanding housing and other government services.

    South African media say police arrested dozens of people in Eldorado Park after shops were looted.

    Such street violence over alleged negligence by municipalities is common in some poor areas of South Africa.

    China has recently tested a new type of guided missile in a northeastern sea near the Korean peninsula, the defence ministry said Tuesday, hours after South Korean elections and amid regional tensions.

    The test in the Bohai Sea was conducted to “raise the operational capability of the armed forces and effectively respond to threats to national security,” the ministry said in a brief statement.

    The statement did not say when the launch took place, only that it happened “recently.” It did not give any details about the missile nor the type of platform from which it was launched.

    The Bohai Sea is a body of water off the coasts of Tianjin municipality, Shandong, Hebei and Liaoning provinces.

  8. CCTV footage captures ‘would-be terrorist clambering into a storm drain as he scouted potential targets for a terror attack near a railway line’

    Zahid Hussain, 29, was allegedly captured on CCTV scouting near a railway embankment in Alum Rock, Birmingham.

    The footage, filmed by cameras on a nearby house, shows a man struggling to lever up a manhole cover with a crowbar before descending into the drain.

    Hussain, also from Alum Rock, denies making a pressure cooker bomb.

    His trial at Birmingham Crown Court heard how a ‘US Army Guerrilla’ book found at his home was apparently bookmarked at a section covering attacks on railways.

  9. Mawlawi Abdul Rahim Shah Hanafi, head of the Parian Ulema Council and eight students were killed in a powerful bomb blast inside a Madrassa in the northern Parwan province in Afghanistan on Tuesday morning.

    “Mawlawi Abdul Rahim Shah Hanafi,head of the Parian Ulema Council including eight students were killed in an explosion in Madrassa in Parwan provinve of Afghanistan,” Tolo News reported.

    Tolo News reported that the explosive device was placed inside a classroom and was detonated while the students were busy in class. No group, including the Taliban, has so far claimed responsibility for the blast.

    Terrorists use terrorism because it works, although not against everybody. The Soviet Union’s flaws were without number, but the effete, obsequious squeamishness that characterizes the current American approach to Islam was not among them. From 1986:

    The Jerusalem Post said the Soviet secret police last year secured the release of three kidnapped Soviet diplomats in Beirut by castrating a relative of a radical Lebanese Shia Muslim leader, sending him the severed organs and then shooting the relative in the head.

    The incident began when four Soviet diplomats were kidnapped last September by Muslim extremists who demanded that Moscow pressure the Syrian government to stop pro-Syrian militiamen from shelling rival Muslim positions in the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli.

    The militiamen, the Jerusalem paper said, did not cease their attacks, and the body of one of the Soviet diplomats, Arkady Katkov, was found a few days later in a field in Beirut.

    The KGB then apparently kidnapped and killed a relative of an unnamed leader of the Shias’ Hezbollah (Party of God) group, a radical, pro-Iranian group that has been suspected of various terrorist activities against Western targets in Lebanon.

    Parts of the man’s body, the paper said, were then sent to the Hezbollah leader with a warning that he would lose other relatives in a similar fashion if the three remaining Soviet diplomats were not immediately released. They were quickly freed.

    The newspaper quoted “observers in Jerusalem” as saying: “This is the way the Soviets operate. They do things–they don’t talk. And this is the language Hezbollah understands.”

  11. French Front National firebrand, and niece of Marine Le Pen, Marion Maréchal-Le Pen has announced she is to step down from politics citing personal reasons.
    Ms. Maréchal-Le Pen made her announcement on Tuesday afternoon saying she would not be seeking office for the French legislative elections set to occur next month. She told the press she wants to spend more time with her young child and escape the “whirlwind” of political life, Le Figaro reports.

    Refugees in Canada are receiving full healthcare, but it’s not enough according to the mainstream media. To clarify, refugees are not receiving “full healthcare” as in the type that lifelong Canadians are receiving which excludes dental, pharmaceuticals and vision coverage … refugees have a special pass and get those additional options as well as what Canadians receive. There have been calls to not only provide refugees with superior options than Canadians as is happening now, but to implement a new arabic healthcare system designed especially for them.

    “US President Donald Trump has approved supplying weapons to Kurdish forces fighting so-called Islamic State (IS) in Syria, the Pentagon says.

    Kurdish elements of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) would be equipped to help drive IS from its stronghold, Raqqa, a spokeswoman said.

    The US was “keenly aware” of Turkey’s concerns about such a move, she added.

    Turkey views the Kurdish rebels as terrorists and wants to stop them taking more territory in Syria.
    The SDF, which comprises Kurdish and Arab militias, is already being supported by elite US forces and air strikes from a US-led coalition.

    The group is currently battling IS for control of the city of Tabqa, an IS command centre just 50km (30 miles) from Raqqa.

    A Pentagon source told the BBC the equipment would include ammunition, small arms, machine guns, heavy machine guns, construction equipment such as bulldozers and armoured vehicles.

    “Satellite images captured on Monday show Chinese military installments being placed on a crucial islet in the contested waterway.

    US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has previously called China’s island building in the South China Sea “illegal.”

    The People’s Liberation Army of China has a naval base on Hainan Island, and since March, several missile launchers have been placed at the base, according to a Defense News report.

    “The direction in which the launchers are facing leads us to believe these are shore-to-ship missiles,” imagery analyst Amit Gur told the news outlet, adding that the missile systems are now “clearly visible.” What is less clear is whether the missile systems were just brought out from storage at the Yulin Naval Base or delivered as brand new systems. “We just don’t know if they are new systems,” or “the ones that were stored during the renovation,” Gur noted.

    The missile systems can serve as an avenue for Beijing and the PLA to project power far away, the analyst said.

    Just a few hours after the commemoration of the 102nd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide on April 24, 2017, Turkish warplanes dropped bombs on the Yazidi homeland of Sinjar (Shingal) on April 25, at around 2 AM local time, according to reports from the region.

    The strikes reportedly killed at least 70 people in the area, with one bomb hitting a Kurdish peshmerga post in Sinjar, killing at least five and severely wounding several more.

    Yazidis say they have been subjected to 72 genocidal massacres. The latest genocide, committed by ISIS, is the 73rd and is still going on. Tens of thousands of Yazidis have been displaced and are refugees in several countries. Hundreds of Yazidi girls and women are still bought, sold and raped by ISIS terrorists — the same men who murdered their husbands and fathers.

    While Yazidis are still suffering from these atrocities, Turkey, evidently still no friend of non-Muslims, has attacked them yet again.

    On August 3, 2014, Islamic State terrorists invaded Sinjar, the homeland of the Yazidis in Iraq, and started slaughtering the Yazidis; many survivors fled up Mount Sinjar.

    In his speech to the U.S. Congress, Mirza Ismail, founder and chairman of the Yezidi Human Rights Organization-International, described the genocide in Sinjar and pled for help:

  27. North Korea is at it again. Or rather, it is continuing what it started five years ago.

    Artificial islands have been discovered surrounding Sohae Satellite Launching Station, a missile development and testing site roughly 70 miles northwest of Pyongyang. Satellite images suggest the islands are home to military installations and have been under development for at least five years.

    While their purpose is unknown, suspicions are high that the islands could be used to launch missiles. Those speculations are not far off the mark, according to Gordon Chang, author of “Nuclear Showdown: North Korea Takes on the World.”

    “North Korea is never up to any good,” Chang said in an emailed statement to Fox News. “The new facilities, whatever their purpose, will be used for evil deeds, mischief, or troublemaking of some sort.”

    “My sense is that the facilities on the new islands will be used for missile launches of some kind, especially because they are near Sohae.”

    North Korea could just be following in its neighbor China’s footsteps. In recent years, China has reportedly been stocking its disputed man-made islands with missiles.

    The missile theory is being rebuffed by some. North Korea expert and political science professor Dr. Bruce Bechtol does not think the islands deserve so much focus.

    “ISIS Chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has called for his supporters’ help against the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF)’s attacks in Raqqa.

    (FNA) — Local sources in Raqqa said that al-Baghdadi has also ordered his comrades to adopt more strict security measures and prevent tens of civilians from fleeing the city.

    They added that the ISIS has seized 20 boats that were used to transfer the civilians on the Northern and Southern coasts of Euphrates river.

    Also, the ISIS has stopped operations to transfer tens of civilian families from Raqqa to the SDF-controlled areas.

    The sources said that the ISIS forces are now on alert in Raqqa.

    Other reports from Deir Ezzur and Raqqa also said that the ISIS has in recent days recited al-Baghdadi’s demand for help at the two cities’ mosques, calling on Muslims in the ISIS-controlled areas to mobilize against the SDF attacks in Raqqa.

    Latest reports from Raqqa said that the SDF continued their advances against ISIS and pushed them back from Watani hospital in the Western part of al-Tabaqa city in Northeastern Syria.

    Firat news agency reported on Monday that the Kurdish fighters engaged in tough battle with ISIS and managed to capture Watani hospital in al-Tabaqa city, killing four terrorists, including one of their leaders, Abu Mohammad Al-Qahtani.

    In the meantime, the Kurdish Hawar news reported that the SDF stormed ISIS’s positons in different parts of al-Tabaqa city, killing up to 19 militants.

    The agency specified that four snipers were among the ISIS militants killed in the clashes in al-Tabaqa neighborhoods of Hey Ewwel and Hey Salis.

    The news agency noted that two SDF fighters were injured during the clashes.

    Well-informed sources reported on Saturday that a sum of 76 ISIS terrorists were killed in clashes with the SDF in a village in Western Raqqa.

    The sources said that the SDF continued their operation codenamed the Euphrates Rage to hit ISIS’s positions in Raqqa province and managed to capture the village of Sahel al-Khashab after four-day-long clashes with ISIS East of Sweida al-Kabireh settlement.

    The ISIS lost 76 members in the SDF attack, they added.

    In the meantime, heavy fighting is underway between the SDF and the ISIS in the trinary neighborhoods of 1, 2 and 3 in al-Tabaqa city.”

    “Six Pakistanis working for a Polish oil company who were kidnapped by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants in November pleaded for their lives in a video released on Tuesday by the militant faction.

    The workers were kidnapped in Dera Ismail Khan while carrying out exploration work for oil and gas surveyor Geofizyka Krakow. A Polish engineer from the same company was kidnapped in late 2008 near the same area and beheaded several months later.

    The company has been in liquidation since August, and a spokesperson for its parent company, PGNiG, told Reuters at the time the six were kidnapped that they were “sub-contractors”.

    Neither PGNiG nor Geofizyka Krakow could be immediately reached for comment on the video.

    The six can be seen in the video sitting on a floor, flanked by two masked, armed TTP militants while one of them read a statement.

    “We are alive and well and appeal to our company, the government and our families to secure our release as fast as possible or we will meet the same fate as the foreign worker,” said the man reading the statement, who identified himself as Abdul Khaliq.

    “The organizers of a protest in Switzerland where some demonstrators held a banner urging the assassination of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will not be charged, media reports said on Monday.

    Kurdish groups and left-leaning Swiss political parties organized the protest in Geneva in March, where a banner showing a gun pointing at Erdogan was brandished, alongside the words: “Kill Erdogan”.

    The rally took place at the height of Ankara’s ultimately successful campaign to get citizens to vote ‘Yes’ in a April 16th referendum to expand the Turkish president’s powers.

    Turkey was furious and summoned the Swiss ambassador over the demonstration. Swiss and Turkish officials launched separate investigations.

    However municipal authorities in Bern determined that the organizers had not breached the rules governing demonstrations, the NZZ daily reported on Monday, quoting local police chief Marc Heeb.

    It was unreasonable to expect organizers of the demonstration, which drew thousands of people, to take action against the protesters waving the banner, he said.

    But while the organizers will not face charges, Bern prosecutors are pushing ahead with a criminal probe against the individual protesters who carried the banner and who are suspected of incitement to violence, NZZ reported.”

    “Without a doubt the greatest threat to the future of the Union is that an exclusionary discourse has become an instrument of populist policies in Europe,” he said, referring particularly to “social ills such as discrimination, cultural racism, xenophobia and islamophobia”. Turkey’s minister for European affairs and chief negotiator Omer Celik is expected for fresh talks with European Commission first vice president Frans Timmermans and Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos in Brussels on Wednesday. Meanwhile the nationalist party MHP, which supported Erdogan in the recent constitutional referendum on presidentialism, has resumed its call on the governing majority to reintroduce the death penalty in Turkey.
