“No fewer than 13 persons were reportedly killed at the weekend in Asso village, Jama’a Local Government Area in the southern part of Kaduna State after suspected herdsmen attacked the community.
The incident, according to a source in the village, occurred about 7.30 p.m. on Saturday when the herdsmen in large numbers invaded the community and started shooting sporadically.
In a phone interview, the source who pleaded to remain anonymous, said several people who ran for their dear lives sustained injuries from gunshots and were rushed to the hospital.
He said the attackers were heavily armed, adding that the operation lasted for about 30 minutes without any help from the security agencies deployed last December to stop the persistent killings in that part of the state.
The source said the attack, in the midst of heavy security presence in southern Kaduna, made residents lose confidence in the security personnel.
In the wake of the latest onslaught, Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, condemned the attack.
The governor, in a statement by his spokesman, Samuel Aruwan, condole with the families of the victims and urged the security agencies to redouble their efforts in fishing out the culprits and bring them to justice.
He called on communities in the area to support the military, which would soon embark on a special operation to flush out the bandits from their hideouts, to ensure that the exercise is successful.
The statement said agencies responsible for emergency services had been directed to offer relief to victims of the attack.”

51 percent of Turkish voters accepted the constitutional changes in Sunday’s referendum, although opposition and watchdogs have already questioned the fairness of the vote.
Nevertheless, the result of the referendum means in all likelihood more executive power invested in the redefined post of president, which Erdogan will now be able to hold until 2029.
Denmark’s prime minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen expressed his concern about the result, writing on Twitter that he found it “strange that democracy is being used to restrict democracy.”
“I do not contest the right of the majority, but am now very concerned about the new system of Turkish government,” he continued.
Krisitan Thulesen Dahl, leader of the populist Danish People’s party, wrote on Facebook that any talk of Turkey joining the EU can be dismissed in light of the referendum.

The left wing Red-Green Alliance (Enhedslisten) party also criticised the result.
“Enhedslisten has proposed an immediate suspension of EU membership negotiations with Turkey until democracy has been reinstated,” said the party’s EU spokesperson Søren Søndergaard in a statement, according to news agency Ritzau.’’
“The already-ailing Turkish democracy will now be placed with an absolute ruler,” he said.
According to Søndergaard, the result of Sunday’s vote will make the state of emergency in the country – adopted after a failed coup attempt in July 2016 – will now become permanent, with all power in the hands of the president.
The EU itself has already voiced its concerns about the possibility of Turkey reinstating capital punishment following the referendum, calling it a “red line” for the EU.
EU parliament member and Social Democrat Jeppe Kofod called the result of the referendum a “scandal”.
“Scandal! A parody of a referendum when journalists are imprisoned and democracy is abolished by voting yes,” wrote Kofod on Twitter, where he also retweeted a series of other criticisms of the Turkish referendum, including one referring to US President Donald Trump congratulating Erdogan on his victory.
Just under 50 million Turkish citizens voted in Sunday’s referendum, with 51.18 percent voting yes and 48.82 percent voting no to the constitutional changes, reports Ritzau.

Theresa May has announced a snap general election for June 8 to give Britain the ‘strong and stable leadership’ needed to deliver Brexit.
Mrs May said weakness in Westminster would limit her hand in the negotiations with Europe and she called the poll knowing an election against Jeremy Corbyn could hand her a huge Commons majority.
The premier blasted opposition parties for trying to frustrate Brexit – singling out Nicola Sturgeon over her attempt to rip up the UK – and said she was not prepared to let them ‘endanger the security of millions of working people’.
Making her shock announcement from the steps of No 10, Mrs May said Britain needed strong leadership and insisted an early poll was the ‘right approach’ and in the ‘national interest’.
Mrs May said ‘every vote for the Conservatives’ would give her a stronger hand when she sits across the negotiating table from the EU’s presidents and prime ministers to hammer out a Brexit deal.
The election is an astonishing U-turn from the Prime Minister who has repeatedly said she would not call an early election – insisting it would cause instability and hurt the country.

North Korea ‘will test missiles weekly’, senior official tells BBC
“We’ll be conducting more missile tests on a weekly, monthly and yearly basis,” Vice-Foreign Minister Han Song-ryol told the BBC’s John Sudworth.

US Deploys Two More Aircraft Carriers Toward Korean Peninsula: Yonhap
According to a report by South Korea’s primary news outlet, Yonhap, the Pentagon has directed a total of three US aircraft carriers toward the Korean Peninsula, citing a South Korean government source.

Pence reassures Japan of U.S. resolve on North Korea, to work with China
TOKYO (Reuters) – U.S. Vice President Mike Pence reassured Japan of American commitment to reining in North Korea’s nuclear and missile ambitions on Tuesday, after warning that U.S. strikes in Syria and Afghanistan showed the strength of its resolve.
Pence arrived in Tokyo from South Korea, where he assured leaders of an “iron-clad” alliance with the United States in the face of the reclusive North, which has conducted a series of missile and nuclear tests in defiance of U.N. sanctions.
“The era of strategic patience is over and while all options are on the table, President (Donald) Trump is determined to work closely with Japan, with South Korea, with all our allies in the region and with China to achieve a peaceable resolution and the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula,” Pence said in Tokyo before lunch with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
Pence and Abe agreed that they needed to persuade China to play a larger role in dealing with North Korea, a Japanese government spokesman said.

Before a smiling Kim Jong-un, North Korea presented several new weapons Saturday at a military parade celebrating the 105th anniversary of the birth of North Korean founder Kim Il Sung. During the parade, the North showed off a few intercontinental ballistic missile models, potentially moving the regime a step closer to its goal of developing an ICBM that can deliver a nuclear warhead to the continental U.S.
The North also showcased several additional weapons it could possibly use to threaten the security of America’s allies.

One thing to remember when watching this is that China will continue to help North Korea, they will pretend to do things to hurt Kim but will continue to help him. China uses North Korea to pressure the other nations in the region and the US, their message is see how nasty Kim is, imagine how bad he would be if we weren’t stopping him from being real nasty. For this entire century China and Iran have been keeping our attention bouncing between Iran and Korea, now we have a President who can walk and chew gum at the same time and he is paying attention to both locations.

Thousands of police officers supported by military units will be deployed across France as the country prepares to go to the polls this week to elect its next president.
France has remained on high security alert since a terrorist attack in November 2015 killed 130 people and left hundreds injured. And last year 86 people celebrating Bastille Day were killed when a truck was deliberately driven into the crowd in Nice.
Interior Minister Matthias Fekl announced that 50,000 officers will be mobilised across the 67,000 polling stations, where voters will cast their vote this weekend.
Asked by the Journal du Dimanche newspaper if authorities feared an attack timed to coincide with the election Mr Fekl said: “No threat is being ruled out”.
He told the newspaper that the risk of a terrorist attack was “high and permanent” as shown by the attacks last month in London, where five people were killed, and Stockholm, where four people were killed.
The election security plan also includes extra measures to tackle possible violence by extremists groups between the two rounds of the election on April 23 and May 7, Le Monde reports.
French intelligence agency, the General Directorate for Internal Security, has warned the main candidates over “a specific threat on their security and on their campaign headquarters”.
This comes only days after an alleged arson attack took place on the Front Nationals’ headquarters. Ms Le Pen was quick to accuse “leftists” for carrying out the damage on the building’s ground floor.

“ITALY’S main eurosceptic party has soared to a six point poll lead as Sweden’s populists gained ground in the aftermath of the terror attack on Stockholm.

This week the party’s maverick leader Beppe Grillo laid into criticism of his pledge to hold a referendum on membership of the euro after one German journalist described him as a “charlatan”.
He said: “Italian citizens were never asked if they wanted to join the single currency, and after nearly 20 years of failures, unemployment and trade imbalances now politicians must listen with humility.”
Elsewhere a poll released by Sentio showed that the nationalist Sweden Democrats have increased their lead slightly in the aftermath of the Stockholm terror attack.

American Joseph Galaska was charged with mischief after object found in his suitcase
U.S. officials have released an image of an object found in the suitcase of an American man as he attempted to board a flight from Toronto to Chicago on April 6.
The discovery of the object, in the luggage of Joseph Galaska, caused hours of delays for passengers on the same flight at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.
In a tweet on Monday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection called the device a “mock IED” or improvised explosive device. The device itself was covered in colourful wires and electronic components.
U.S. officials said in a statement on April 6 that the object was swabbed for explosives “with a negative result.”
Meanwhile, other passengers booked on Galaska’s flight were delayed by more than eight hours at Pearson and were moved in shuttle buses to an isolation area before being re-screened along with their baggage.
Galaska was charged with mischief following the discovery of the object. He appeared in a Toronto courtroom on April 7 and is due back in court on April 18.
Speaking to ABC’s WISN in Milwaukee, Galaska’s wife, Maria Silva, said the object is a novelty alarm clock purchased while on vacation in Brazil.

Karen Hinks had spent approximately a year training women of color to run for office in Orange County, California, when President Donald Trump was elected.
During her training sessions, she saw that Muslims were especially underrepresented in area politics. Now her organization is preparing to launch training sessions to provide the county’s Muslims the tools to run for local political office.
“There are no Muslim women who have ever been elected to office [in Orange County],” Hinks told NBC News. “That then led us to approach the leadership of the mosques in Orange County to say, ‘We want to do a training with Muslim Americans — what do you think the interest is going to be?’ And they were all for the idea.”
Starting April 15, Hinks’ organization, “WELead OC” and Rima Nashashibi, former vice chair of the Democratic Party of Orange County, are scheduled to hold a five-week Muslim candidate training program to teach aspiring politicians — both women and men — about fundraising, field operations, social media, messaging, communications, and volunteer recruitment.
Only one Muslim presently holds elected office in Orange County — Al Jabbar, a board member of the Anaheim Unified School District — out of an estimated 500,000 Muslims living throughout Southern California, according to the Greater Los Angeles chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
The goal, said Hinks, is to create a “pipeline” for Muslims to enter politics ahead of the 2018 and 2020 elections at a time when political engagement in the Orange County Muslim community is on the rise.
“The more Muslims we see in elected office, the more it boosts our community’s confidence, and it’s a great way to undermine those who are spreading hate and a racist agenda,” Rashad al-Dabbagh, founder and executive director of the Orange County-based Arab American Civic Council, told NBC News.”We love our allies and our partners in other communities, but if Muslims want to prosper and be seen as equals, they have to step up and make a difference themselves.”
Jabbar, the school district board member and sole Muslim elected official in Orange County, said that Muslims have increasingly become interested in running for office in recent years, but that Trump’s victory was “an extra kick.”
“With Trump getting elected, I see that even more,” he said. “Because as a community—Latinos and Muslims—we’ve been put down by this president and we want to show that we are here, working in our communities.”
But al-Dabbagh said that Islamophobia remains a big hurdle.
“We witnessed sometimes Muslim campaigns get targeted just because of their religion or ethnicity, and that they get accused of the nastiest things,” he said. “Some people don’t feel comfortable running because of how viciously they can be attacked by their opponents. Not a lot of people are willing to go through it.”
Jabbar said that religion never came up during his 2014 campaign, but Farrah Khan, a community organizer and interfaith leader who ran for Irvine City Council last year, told NBC News that she was attacked by anti-Muslim rhetoric, which may have contributed to her loss.
“There were lawn signs, street signs, out saying that I was anti-Israel,” she said. “Coming from the interfaith community, that was really appalling.”
Khan, who went through one of WELead OC’s training programs for women last year, said that she was also the subject of a negative mailer that portrayed her as an extremist.
“In a city where we have 110,000 voters, and this mailer went out to everybody and you can’t counter it, a lot of people who don’t know me might believe it,” she said.
Hinks said the upcoming Muslim candidate training program will address the issue of Islamophobia by focusing heavily on field operations and how to engage with voters one-on-one, which she said is the best way to break down the fears and stereotypes.
But Muslim political advancement will also require the help of others, said Khan.
“What I don’t see happening is those who are already elected bringing Muslims into roles such as commissioner, or onto committees, so they can gain the experience so that they’re able to run when the time comes,” she said. “We start from scratch often times, and that needs to change.”
Al-Dabbagh noted that some of these changes are happening. Muslims in Orange County have also become more involved inside party leadership recently, he said, winning several delegate seats in the California Democratic Party in January.
While Khan said she expects to see several new Muslim candidates in the coming years, she knows that change requires patience.
“We have to tell people that you can’t expect to win the first time—you have to keep trying,” she said, noting that she plans to run again in 2018. “That’s what I intend to do.”

“the office had received accurate information indicating that the leader of al-Qaeda “Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi” may have been arrested in the north of Syria through a monitoring by the Syrian-Russian joint intelligence. This came after Baghdadi forcibly left Mosul as a result of the pursuit of his popular mobilization forces on April 2, 2017 and his entry to the Syrian border. The media office indicated that it will refrain from accurate information of the details of the operation pending confirmation of some of them and information still coming as a result of the accuracy of the stage and the consequences that may result from it,” its article reads.
Earlier this week, Iraqi Ministry of Defense said in a statement that Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was alive and staying in Syria.
Despite this, the whole report looks very questionable. No comments from Syrian or Russian security have appeared on the issue.
However, if confirmed, the detention of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi will be a major step in combapting ISIS terrorists in Syria and Iraq.

Russia denies knowledge of arrest of ISIS leader Baghdadi
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Denying reports that ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been arrested in Syria, the Russian Foreign Ministry told Rudaw they do not have knowledge of the news and were not aware of his arrest.
“We are not aware of the arrest of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, caliphate of the Islamic State, and have not received any information or clarification on this regard,” staff of the ministry’s media office told Rudaw.
Russian media had earlier reported that the European Department for Security and Information (DESI) had announced reports that they had received intelligence information that Baghdadi had been arrested in coordination between Russian and Syrian government intelligence agencies.

CANADA – Death threats made against alleged Quebec mosque shooter and his family: reports
The nephew of one of the victims of the Quebec City mosque shooting in January is facing charges of making death threats against the alleged shooter and his family, according to multiple media reports Tuesday.
Mohamed-Amine Ben-Faras, 33, was arrested Saturday and appeared in court via videoconference Monday, reported Le Soleil. The paper reported that Ben-Faras is the nephew of Azzedine Soufiane, who along with five others was killed on Jan. 29 at the Centre Culturel Islamique de Québec.
Ben-Faras arrived in Quebec from London last week, reported Radio-Canada and Le Soleil.
Upon his arrival in Quebec, Ben-Faras sent death threats to Alexandre Bissonnette and his parents, Le Soleil reported.[…]
Le Soleil reported Monday’s hearing was brief and that Ben-Faras appeared calm.

BREITBART -German Government Tells Parents to Destroy Dolls or Face Fine
The German Federal Network Agency has ordered parents to destroy any “My Friend Cayla” dolls that their children have, or face more than $25,000 in fines for not complying. This ruling comes after the smart dolls were found to be transmitting audio recordings to a third party specializing in voice recognition for police and military forces.
The unique selling point of My Friend Cayla is that not only does the doll speak, but it uses speech-to-text protocols to be able to have conversations with the children. An example on the website has a girl asking the doll what a baby kangaroo is called, with the doll correctly identifying it as a joey. However, this listening functionality leaves the doll open to hacking. Anyone who has access to a valid version of the doll’s connected mobile app can access the toy via Bluetooth.
The FNA, Germany’s telecommunications network, first raised the problem of the dolls back in February, instructing parents to destroy it for containing a “concealed transmitting device.” Now it is taking the extra step of completely banning the sale, purchase, and ownership of the dolls.
Stefan Hessel, a law student who helped formulate the FNA’s legal opinion to ban the doll, told the Wall Street Journal that “it’s pretty bad bringing a doll on the market anybody in a 30-feet radius can connect to… A regular Bluetooth loudspeaker is better protected.”
Parents have been instructed to fill out a certificate of destruction of the doll and have it signed by a legitimate waste-management company to be sent back to the FNA for proof after the doll is destroyed. Telecommunication laws in Germany leave open a potential fine of $26,500 and two years in prison as a general punishment for not following FNA directives.
Vivid Germany GmbH, the German distributor of the doll has responded, saying it takes the decision seriously but stands by the doll, claiming it doesn’t break any laws. In a statement, the company said that “there is no reason to destroy Cayla or give the doll away… It isn’t a spying device.”

European department for security and information (DESI) announced that they have received intelligence information that ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was apprehended by Syrian and Russian joint forces.
In a press release on Tuesday, the media office of DESI secretary general said this comes after al-Baghdadi was forced to leave Mosul after the Iraqi forces advancement in the province.

Sunday’s vote gave President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s “yes” camp a narrow win for constitutional changes that will abolish the office of the prime minister and convert Turkey’s system of government from a parliamentary to a presidential one.
The referendum took place under a state of emergency that was declared following a failed military coup last summer. Turkey’s parliament agreed Tuesday to extend for another three months the emergency powers allowing the government to rule by decree.
Bulent Tezcan, deputy chairman of the opposition Republican People’s Party, or CHP, said the party filed a formal request seeking the referendum’s annulment due to voting irregularities. He said the party would use all legal paths to challenge the vote.

“An attack on security forces near Egypt’s St Catherine’s Monastery in south Sinai has killed at least one person and injured four, state television said on Tuesday.
Security sources said it was carried out by gunmen on a police checkpoint several hundred meters from the church entrance. No group claimed responsibility.
The attack comes just over a week after two bombings on Egyptian churches during Palm Sunday services, claimed by terror group ISIS, killed 45 people. Pope Francis is to visit Egypt at the end of April.
St Catherine’s is one of the oldest Christian monasteries in the world and a UNESCO world heritage site. Attacks are common in northern Sinai, where an insurgency by extremist militants has raged for years, but rare in south Sinai.

Erdogan Tightens Grip on Turkey

Turkey’s Islamist President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has engineered the path to his virtual one-man rule of Turkey. A very small majority of Turkish voters approved a controversial referendum on Sunday to amend the country’s constitution, converting the largely ceremonial post of president into a highly powerful chief executive. The amendments eliminate the post of prime minister and confer vast new powers on the president to issue decrees as law and make judicial appointments. The changes will obliterate any semblance of a democratic republic with checks and balances among independent branches of government. They will take effect with the 2019 presidential election. Erdogan is expected to run for the newly empowered presidential office, which he could hold onto for at least two terms through 2029.
The constitutional amendments will simply formalize the creeping autocracy and Islamization that Erdogan has imposed on the Turkish people during his years as prime minister from 2003 to 2014, and while serving in the supposedly ceremonial post of president since 2014. The current prime minister is an Erdogan loyalist.
Turkey has been operating under emergency rule since last summer’s failed coup. A vast purge of government workers suspected of opposing the government took place, accompanied by mass arrests. The alleged dissenters removed from their positions cut across academia, the police, the military, prosecutors and the judiciary. Turkey also accounted for nearly a third of the global total of journalists arrested world-wide in 2016. More than 100 news outlets were closed down.

If ‘Terror Knows No Religion’ Where Is All The Christian/Jewish Terrorism?

Two horrific suicide bombings, in two different cities, two hours apart—this is how Egyptian Christians began Holy Week.
In the cities of Tawra and Alexandria, Muslim terrorists stormed Coptic churches where they proceeded to blow themselves to a fine pink mist while taking 44 worshippers with them. These two attacks followed last December’s horrific suicide bombing at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Cairo that killed 29.
Does Egypt have a problem with Islamic violence? Not according to Egypt’s most prominent clergyman, Dr. Ahmed al-Tayeb, who holds the prestigious title of Grand Imam of al-Azhar. At a conference in Cairo last month, al-Tayeb said that the incidence of Muslim violence around the world is rather unremarkable: “There is an obvious double standard in the world’s judgment of Islam on the one hand, and [its judgment of] Christianity and Judaism on the other, despite the fact that all are guilty of one and the same thing, that is, religious violence and terrorism.”
The point al-Tayeb is trying to make is pretty straightforward: that people are quick to chide Muslims for terrorism when in fact the terror problem cuts across religious lines. Clearly all of this talk about terrorism must be a cloak for bigotry. If people were truly concerned with eradicating terrorism they would condemn it wherever it’s found. The fact that they don’t exposes their hypocrisy.
He continued: “Christian and Jewish violence is a cool and casual matter for the West, which never besmirches the image of these two religions. Only their third brother [Islam] stands trial alone on the dock, where his image is constantly marred.”

Four years ago, when the perpetrators of the Boston bombing were identified as two brothers from Chechnya, the American media, as Daniel Greenfield wrote at the time, went “into ‘Palestinian’ mode insisting that we need to talk about the conflict in Chechnya.”
Yes, Greenfield agreed, we could talk about that conflict. But he added:
Indeed. And Chechnya, which is a “semi-autonomous republic” within Russia, happens to be 95% Muslim. Its president, Ramnaz Kadyrov, has defended honor killings on the grounds that wives are their husbands’ property. He’s told Chechen women that their primary reason for existing is to bear children. He’s encouraged Chechen men to practice polygamy, even though it’s against Russian law. He’s required all females in Chechnya to wear headscarves in schools and other public buildings. And he’s left no doubt that his fanatical support for all of these positions is rooted in his faith. “No one can tell us not to be Muslims,” he has said. “If anyone says I cannot be a Muslim, he is my enemy.”
It was Chechen Muslims who committed two of the most appalling terrorist acts since 9/11. The first, in 2002, was the gruesome armed seizure of that Moscow movie theater, in which about 130 hostages died. Remember? It’s hardly ever mentioned anymore, and rarely cited when people are making lists of major acts of jihadist terrorism.

On April 9—Palm Sunday, which starts the holy week of Easter—two Christian churches were bombed during mass in Egypt, leaving at least 50 worshippers dead and nearly 130 injured and/or mutilated (graphic images/video of aftermath here).
Less than four months earlier, around Christmas, another Christian church was bombed in Egypt, leaving 27 worshippers—mostly women and children—dead and wounding nearly 70. On New Year’s Day, 2011, yet another Egyptian church was bombed, leaving 23 worshippers dead.
In 2013, almost 70 Christian churches in Egypt were attacked, many burned to the ground, by Muslim Brotherhood supports.
Then there are the many “lesser” attacks on Egyptian churches—botched bombing attempts, hate-filled graffiti, and “angry mob” uprisings—that are so “everyday” as to receive virtually no media coverage in the West.
One need only listen to the words and teachings of some of Egypt’s Muslim preachers to understand why Egypt’s Christians—who are increasingly being slaughtered—and their churches are constantly under attack.

Something alarming is happening on campuses, fueled by tendentious and morally self-righteous progressive students, and some faculty, who have displayed a shocking disregard for the university’s cardinal virtue of free expression, deciding themselves who may say what about whom on their respective campuses—and purging from campuses those ideas they have deemed too hateful, too unsafe, too incendiary to tolerate or to allow to be heard.
Until now, these champions of the aggrieved have been less than transparent in both their motives and intentions, disingenuously asserting that their efforts to suppress the speech of those with opposing conservative views is done to protect perceived victim groups. Ideas which are contrary to these social justice warriors’ acceptable worldview are dismissed as contemptible—not even worthy of being debated—or are neutralized and debased by designations which characterize it as ‘hate speech’ because it is, depending on the victim groups attacked, racist, sexist, xenophobic, Islamophobic, or homophobic. So sure of their righteousness and ideology are they that they do not even try to hide their preconceived notions and evident bias against ideas they have decided are beyond the pale or unworthy of being given voice.
Feelings, not ideas, are what count; emotionality now trumps rationality.
