  1. Saudi General dodges citizen’s arrest in London over Yemen atrocities (VIDEO) (RT, Mar 30, 2017)

“Saudi military spokesperson Brigadier General Ahmed Asiri narrowly avoided an attempted citizen’s arrest in London on Thursday.

Footage shows activist Sam Walton attempting the arrest, claiming Asiri is a war criminal responsible for atrocities in the Yemeni conflict.

Asiri’s bodyguards blocked the attempted arrest and Walton can be heard saying “You’re interrupting a citizen’s arrest” as Asiri disappears into the building where he was due to appear at a think-tank forum…”

  2. Geert Wilders vows to ‘save our civilisation’ & claims ‘no Westerner is safe from terror’ (express, Mar 31, 2017)

“GEERT Wilders has accused Dutch prime minister Mark Rutte of refusing the listen to voters as he issued a defiant message to “resume control over our own borders”.

The outspoken politician who shifted Dutch politics to focus on immigration, claimed Mr Rutte “is not prepared to see the danger of Islam”.

Mr Wilders suggest his Party for Freedom (PVV) will become the largest at the next election because people have “realised what is at stake”.

Speaking to Breitbart London, Mr Wilders said: “The harder representatives of the current governing elites, such as Mr Rutte, try to turn a blind eye to the Islamic danger, the harder the boomerang is going to hit them in future.

“If Mr Rutte refuses to listen to the voters, we will next time be the largest party. And, then, we will follow the excellent example of the British, leave the EU, resume control over our own borders, and restore our national sovereignty, so that we can remain what we are.”

Mr Wilders added: “Not a single citizen in the West is still safe from Islamic terror and, yet, winners of the elections, such as me, are excluded from governing if they propose to start a de-Islamisation process.”…”

  3. US lists 7 including Anjem Choudary as ‘global terrorists’ (alaraby, Mar 31, 2017)

“The US government on Thursday imposed sanctions on seven people for allegedly supporting the Islamic State group or al-Qaeda, including a member of the IS execution cell dubbed ‘The Beatles.’

The State Department declared El Shafee Elsheik, Anjem Choudary, Sami Bouras, Shane Dominic Crawford, and Mark John Taylor as Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGTs).

Elsheik, a British-sounding captor accused of beheading hostages, joined IS after travelling to Syria in 2012, and became a member of the ‘The Beatles,’ in 2016.

He is known to have engaged in waterboarding and crucifixions while being working with the extremist group.

Anjem Choudary, a radical British preacher was jailed in 2016 for pledging allegiance to IS.

He has said he would continue recruiting for IS after being sentenced to prison in the UK.

Choudary would tell his recruits that those who opposed IS, were not true Muslims.

The sanctions ban Americans from doing business with the men and block any assets they have in the US.

Bouras is a Swedish citizen of Tunisian descent and has been accused of planning suicide attacks and New Zealander Mark John Taylor has encouraged terror attacks in Australia and New Zealand.

Others included are an accused Malaysian and Indonesian for allegedly plotting IS attacks.”

Nonetheless, we may confidently identify this particular exception to the rule as a genuinely “happy landing”.

One can only hope that a concerned citizen abruptly swung open a hotel window or otherwise sought to disrupt this Pakistani’s attempts at gaining further altitude.

  7. Putin Takes Tough Stance on Protests, Warns of Arab Spring Chaos

Russian President Vladimir Putin took a tough stance on the biggest mass protests of the past five years, comparing them to the bloodshed and chaos unleashed by the so-called “Arab Spring” revolutions and uprising in neighboring Ukraine.

“The fight against corruption has become an instrument for selfish political goals,” Putin said at an international forum on the Arctic in the northern city of Arkhangelsk on Thursday, in his first public comments on the March 26 rallies. “I think it isn’t right when certain political forces try to use this tool to promote themselves ahead of some political events, including electoral campaigns.”

Tens of thousands of people, including many young taking to the streets for the first time, defied official bans on the rallies and gathered in more than 80 cities across Russia in protest of official corruption. Police detained 1,500 people nationwide, including more than 1,000 in Moscow. Opposition leader Alexey Navalny and at least another 19 people received prison sentences of up to 15 days, mostly for disobeying police, according to human rights activists, in a crackdown condemned by the U.S. and Europe. Putin faces re-election in a year after almost two decades in power.

  8. Venezuela Lurches Toward Dictatorship as Top Court Seizes Power

Venezuela slid closer toward dictatorship after the country’s Supreme Court gutted the only opposition-run institution — the Congress — seizing its powers and declaring the elected body invalid.

The court’s ruling late on Wednesday night was, in the words of lawmakers, nothing short of a coup. Several opposition leaders called for street demonstrations and other forms of “democratic resistance.”

As the once-wealthy oil power descends into a chaos of hunger and crime, however, it remained far from clear whether the increasingly despondent population will view the court’s move as a genuine turning point or just another step in the nation’s bottoming out toward hopelessness.

“This is not only going to cause alarm for concern within the region, but also actions, and at this point, it will be very difficult for countries to remain neutral,” said Carlos Romero, a political scientist at the Central University of Venezuela in Caracas. “The government is provoking; not only has it not made a single gesture toward dialog, it has become completely entrenched.”

      Sin, guilt, atonement.
Specifying sin – intentional vs inadvertent and every shade in between. Our actions have consequences, we’re held responsible for what we do or fail to do.

Expiating guilt by means of animal sacrifice. Detailed instructions – which animals, what part of the animal, what sequence, etc. Salt, cook, fry. Exquisite detail. (Your experience butchering animals is useful here.)

Maybe it’s to still a perpetual urge to sacrifice fellow humans. Immolate your children or the kidney of a conquered chieftain. Name your kid Shahid and strap an explosives vest around him. Ugh.

Seems like a lot of work, but the appeasement process has to cost you something. Maybe next time you’ll think twice before you do something you know you shouldn’t. Even if you didn’t know before, you’re still held responsible for what you do.

A tough Parasha, but peppered with sparkles, like:

  9. Middle School Mothers with Objections to Islamic Curriculum Hire Law Firm

Two mothers of seventh graders who attend Chatham Middle School in New Jersey have hired the Thomas More Law Center, a public interest law firm, after their legitimate objections to pro-Islamic curriculum in their children’s classes have resulted in personal and social media attacks upon them within their community.

“Their crime: appearing on Fox TV’s Tucker Carlson Show to voice concerns about Islamic indoctrination of Chatham Middle School seventh graders,” the Thomas More Law Center said in a press release on Thursday.

“Libby Hilsenrath and Nancy Gayer were subjected to personal attacks throughout their campaign to stop Islamic indoctrination at the Chatham Middle School. They were defamed as “bigots” and “Islamophobes”, “hateful”, “ignorant”, “xenophobes”, “intolerant”, “racist”, “closed minded”, “sad and ignorant” in social media, and the list goes on. The attacks significantly intensified after their appearance on the Tucker Carlson Show,” the statement continued:

  10. Russia: Rubber Ducks and Green Paint

    by Shoshana Bryen
    March 31, 2017 at 5:00 am

For all the hyperbole in Washington about Russian hacking, Russian disinformation, Russian influence, and Russian espionage, the really remarkable events in Russia over the weekend appear barely to have registered.

One hundred years after the assassination of the last Czar, and two-and-a-half decades after the fall of the communist regime, Russian people have taken to the streets.

In early March, anti-corruption activist Alexei Navalny posted a report on YouTube detailing the corruption of Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. After more than 13 million views in roughly three weeks, people, including a large number of teenagers, answered Navalny’s call for public protest. They flooded the streets of 95 Russian cities, as well as London, Prague, Basel, and Bonn. Many carried rubber ducks — or real ducks — referring to reports of a luxury duck farm on one of Medvedev’s properties.

    Navalny is now in jail.

  11. Focus Efforts on Assimilation, Not Integration
Home > Political Islam > In the US > National Security

Assimilation is a fault line in the war on radical Islam and the West must treat it as such. However, assimilation is too often confused with integration. Mistakenly choosing the latter will undermine our efforts and even facilitate the messaging of Islamists and their non-Muslim “useful idiots” who bend over backwards to avoid indicting the ideology.

“Integration” seems to be the key word when discussing how to stop Islamist radicalization among Muslims in the West, both those born here and especially those who moved here. The Merriam-Webster definition of “integration” is to “end the segregation of and bring into equal membership in society of an organization.”

When you suggest that Islamism is caused by a lack of integration, you’re arguing that Muslims are segregated in the West and are not equal members of society, neither of which are true. The term is beneficial to Islamists because it avoids placing blame on the ideology and thus absolving clerics of the need to confront it.

In this context, the term’s implication that extremism is a response to the West’s gross mistreatment of Muslims advances the Islamists’ preaching against the West and its secular-democratic systems. The message is magnified by left-wingers who embrace the Marxist “class struggle” view of terrorism that depicts Islamist extremists as misguided social justice warriors against imperialism and capitalism.

  12. Italian police in Venice arrest three Jihadists

Three adults and a girl have been detained in the centre of Venice as suspects in an alleged jihadist cell.

Police had been monitoring the group from Kosovo for months amid concerns they were planning to join Islamist militants in Syria, reports said.

But police moved in at dawn on Thursday amid fears of a potential attack in the wake of the last week’s murder of four people in London, reports said.

Twelve addresses were raided including 10 in the city’s historic centre.

One of the raids took place close to the famed La Fenice opera house at around 04:00 (02:00 GMT), Italian media said.

Police said all four of those held had Italian residence permits. They said Italy’s specialist Digos crime squad had been investigating the three adults on suspicion of radicalisation.

Two of the three had been working as waiters, one report said.

Italian police apparently tapped communications referring to the 22 March attack at Westminster, when Khalid Masood drove a car into pedestrians and stabbed a police officer outside parliament.

    Who was Khalid Masood?

‘No evidence’ Masood linked to IS

Police decided to move in amid concerns that the alleged cell was planning a similar attack in Venice, possibly targeting a high profile tourist site such as the Rialto bridge over the city’s Grand Canal, Italian media reported.

Defence Minister Roberta Pinotti praised the authorities’ handling of the operation and said it showed their commitment in the fight against terrorism.

    • NBC – Obama Officials Made List of Russia Probe Documents To Keep Them Safe

Obama administration officials were so concerned about what would happen to key classified documents related to the Russia probe once President Trump took office that they created a list of document serial numbers to give to senior members of the Senate Intelligence Committee, a former Obama official told NBC News.

The official said that after the list of documents related to the probe into Russian interference in the U.S. election was created in early January, he hand-carried it to the committee members. The numbers themselves were not classified, said the official.

The purpose, said the official, was to make it “harder to bury” the information, “to share it with those on the Hill who could lawfully see the documents,” and to make sure it could reside in an Intelligence committee safe, “not just at Langley [CIA hq].”
zero hedge – NBC Confirms Obama Administration Officials Saved Trump-Russia Probe Docs

Seemingly confirming the incriminating remarks from former Obama Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, Evelyn Farkas, on the mad scramble by the Obama administration to collect and preserve intelligence on alleged Russian election hacking before Obama left office, NBC News reports that a former Obama official admits they made a list of Russia probe documents to keep them safe.

While most of the mainstrem media has conveniently dismissed the remarks from Evenlyn Farkas that accidentally implicated the Obama White House in the surveillance of Trump’s campaign staff:

The Trump folks, if they found out how we knew what we knew about the Trump staff dealing with Russians, that they would try to compromise those sources and methods, meaning we would not longer have access to that intelligence.

It seems now NBC News is confirming parts of her story…

Furthermore, as we previously noted, Farkas effectively corroborated a New York Times article from early March which cited “Former American officials” as their anonymous source regarding efforts to leak this surveillance on the Trump team to Democrats across Washington DC.

I became very worried because not enough was coming out into the open and I knew that there was more. We have very good intelligence on Russia. So then I had talked to some of my former colleagues and I knew they were trying to also get information to the hill.

That’s why you have the leaking.

In other words; the Obama administration was concerned about spoliation of evidence gathered through various “sources and methods” of surveillance, so a plan was hatched to leak this information to congress – also known as “The Hill.”

    • New blockbuster report appears to VINDICATE Devin Nunes amid scandalous media coverage

Fox News has come out with a new report with multiple sources in the intelligence community that appears to vindicate Devin Nunes amid all of this scandalous and breathless media coverage.

Here are a few of the highlights:

      1. The surveillance that led to the unmasking started way BEFORE Trump was the GOP nominee

      2. The person who did the unmasking is very high up in the intelligence world and is not in the FBI

      3. The people reported by the NY Times were not Nunes sources. They only helped him navigate the intelligence

      4. Nunes was told about the unmasking of Trump’s team back in January BEFORE Trump’s tweet about Obama’s spying.

      5. It took a while to coordinate Nunes seeing the intelligence reports in order to protect his source. They chose the White House because it was the only other location they could view the reporting without outing the source.

      6. None of this has anything to do with Russia.

Here’s a few tweets from directly from Adam Housely on the matter:

Note the last tweet. If Housley is correct in his reporting, and I’m guessing he is, then this absolutely blows the roof off the media’s attempt to paint Nunes as a Trump cultist who is just trying to cover for Trump.

As I said all along, Nunes has handled himself as a class act and has taken a beating from the media for daring to inform the President and the media of his preliminary findings.

They can gripe about him not going to the committee first if you want, but it sounds like there’s a huge story about to break once he gets the intelligence into his committee and that’s exactly where the media’s focus should be.

  13. Indonesia: Thousands of Muslims call for Jakarta’s Christian governor to be sacked

Thousands of Muslims marched on the streets of Jakarta, on Friday, to demand that the city’s Christian governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, commonly known as Ahok, be sacked over blasphemy allegations.

The rally, led by the hardline Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), saw protesters chanting and waving Indonesian flags, amidst a heavy police presence.

FPI supporters are demanding that a Muslim leads Jakarta as governor instead of Ahok. He has been accused of blasphemy after citing a verse from the Quran, Al-Maifah 51, during the Jakarta gubernatorial election campaign.

  14. DAILY MAIL – Latest WikiLeaks release shows how the CIA uses computer code to hide the origins of its hacking attacks and ‘disguise them as Russian or Chinese activity’

WikiLeaks published 676 source code files today which it claimed are from CIA
It says the CIA disguised its own hacking attacks to make it appear those responsible were Russian, Chinese, Iranian or North Korean

WikiLeaks has published hundreds more files today which it claims show the CIA went to great lengths to disguise its own hacking attacks and point the finger at Russia, China, North Korea and Iran.

The 676 files released today are part of WikiLeaks’ Vault 7 tranche of files and they claim to give an insight into the CIA’s Marble software, which can forensically disguise viruses, trojans and hacking attacks.

WikiLeaks says the source code suggests Marble has test examples in Chinese, Russian, Korean, Arabic and Farsi (the Iranian language).

It says: ‘This would permit a forensic attribution double game, for example by pretending that the spoken language of the malware creator was not American English, but Chinese.’

This could lead forensic investigators into wrongly concluding that CIA hacks were carried out by the Kremlin, the Chinese government, Iran, North Korea or Arabic-speaking terror groups such as ISIS.

WikiLeaks, whose founder Julian Assange remains holed up in the Ecuadorean Embassy in London, said Vault 7 was the most comprehensive release of US spying files ever made public.

Earlier this month WikiLeaks published thousands of documents claiming to reveal top CIA hacking secrets, including the agency’s ability to infiltrate encrypted apps like Whatsapp, break into smart TVs and phones and program self-driving cars.

It also claims the CIA can bypass the encryption of Whatsapp, Signal, Telegram, Wiebo, Confide and Cloakman by hacking the smart phones the applications run on.

The CIA was also looking at hacking the vehicle control systems used in modern cars and trucks, WikiLeaks claims.

Wikileaks said the release of confidential documents on the agency already eclipses the total number of pages published over the first three years of the Edward Snowden NSA leaks.

Experts who’ve started to sift through the material said it appeared legitimate – and that the release was almost certain to shake the CIA.

53% of youngsters would give up sense of smell to stay connected

The importance of technology to today’s youth, and how it defines and motivates them, has been revealed in a new study from McCann Worldgroup.

      by Helen Leggatt

McCann’s study, “The Truth About Youth”, involved 7,000 16-30 year olds from several countries. It identified three key factors motivating today’s youngsters – the need for connections and community, social or personal justice, and authenticity.

It is clear from the results that technology plays an important role in youngsters’ lives and without it they would feel isolated and uninformed.

“It is the glue that binds this generation together and fuels the motivations that define them.” said Laura Simpson, Global IQ Director for McCann Worldgroup.

Who they connect to, and even which brands they “Like”, plays a more important role in their “Social Economy” than what they own or the experiences they’ve had.

So important is technology to today’s youth that over half (53%) would give up their sense of smell rather than lose access to it. To them, losing the ability to explore and communicate via technology would be like a blind man losing his stick…

    • Suicide bomber kills 24 near mosque in northwestern Pakistan (abcnews, Mar 31, 2017)

“A car bomb exploded Friday near a Shiite Muslim mosque in the town of Parachinar in northwestern Pakistan, killing at least 24 people and wounding over 100, officials said.

The bomb was detonated near the mosque, which also is not far from the Noor Market, said Mushtaq Ghani, a spokesman for the provincial government. TV footage showed victims being taken away in ambulances and private cars.

Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, a breakaway faction of Pakistani Taliban militants, claimed responsibility. Spokesman Asad Mansoor said in a statement that it was carried out by one of the group’s members, Abul Durda, and targeted minority Shiites, considered heretics by the militants.

    • Little does this useful idiot moron realize that—in a huge number of Muslim majority countries—wearing a form-fitting burqua and showing even a fraction of the leg (or bust line) she is displaying in the above picture would bring her some sets and reps of permanently disfiguring lashes. No more bikini for you, Ms. Keys!!!

Simple ignorance is utterly unable to account for such staggering lunacy as this. Her actions betray a willingness to mislead and encourage hypocrisy of the very worst sort.

  16. The Chinese Approach to Radical Islam

There are roughly 22 million Muslims living in China today. The dominant Muslim minority group is the Uyghurs, a Sunni population who speak a Turkish dialect and live in the northwestern province of Xinjiang, home to 10 million Chinese Muslims.

Since the beginning of the civil war in Syria and Iraq, Uyghurs have flocked to the Middle East. The Chinese government has alleged that “more than 1,000” Xinjiang separatists have received terrorist training in Afghanistan and claims to have arrested a hundred foreign-trained terrorists who made their way back to Xinjiang. The likely defeat of ISIS in Iraq and Syria could potentially send back to China hundreds of Uyghurs who had been fighting in the ranks of the rebels, fully trained for guerilla warfare.

The Chinese government has sought to dilute the Uyghur majority in Xinjiang by encouraging Han Chinese to resettle there. As a result, the Uyghurs represent today barely 45% of the population compared to having been a large majority in 1949.

The terrorist attacks perpetrated by the Uyghurs follow almost the same patterns as those conducted by Islamic radicals in other places, such as car-ramming, suicide bombers, and knife-wielding attackers.

Three times a day, alarms ring out through the streets of China’s ancient Silk Road city of Kashgar, and shopkeepers rush out of their stores swinging government-issued wooden clubs.

In mandatory anti-terror drills conducted under police supervision and witnessed by Reuters on a recent visit, they fight off imaginary knife-wielding assailants. Armored paramilitary and police vehicles circle with sirens blaring.

China says it faces a serious threat from Islamist extremists in this far Western Xinjiang region. Beijing accuses separatists among the Muslim Uighur ethnic minority there of stirring up tensions with the ethnic Han Chinese majority and plotting attacks elsewhere in China.

  17. Can Egypt Drive Moderate Arab States to Talk Mideast Peace?

    • Could Egypt broker a regional peace plan based on the bloc of pragmatic (or moderate) Arab states? Could such a bloc even arise given the political and military situation in the Middle East?

    • Egypt is embroiled in an endless fight against terrorist attacks on all its borders and is, therefore, primarily focused on its own security problems. At the same time, relations between Egypt and the Palestinian Authority are strained because PA President Abbas rejected Egyptian President Sisi’s initiative for a summit in Cairo with Prime Minister Netanyahu and is reluctant to cooperate with Cairo regarding Hamas.

    • Moreover, tensions between Saudi Arabia and Egypt mean conditions are not ideal for the creation of a coalition of pragmatic states acting together to promote a peace process. It is hard to see how they could agree on a common approach.

    • There is discussion of a solution based on the Saudi-Arab peace initiative formulated in 2002 and endorsed by the Arab League in 2007. It entails preconditions that Israel cannot accept such as withdrawal from all territories taken in 1967: not only the West Bank, but also eastern Jerusalem and the Golan Heights, as well as the Shaba Farms (Mount Dov) on the Lebanese and Syrian borders. It also entails “the solution of the [Palestinian] refugee problem.” All Arab countries, Egypt included, are united in considering that these preconditions must be met to ensure the end of the conflict.

    • Today, Sisi is sincerely committed to promoting a peace agreement aiming for the creation of a Palestinian state based on the 1967 lines with eastern Jerusalem as its capital. Being part of the Arab and Islamic world is embedded in Egypt’s constitution. Can it then diverge from the Arab consensus regarding the core issues relative to the conflict, take the lead in the negotiations and bring about needed Palestinian concessions?

    • Could Saudi Arabia, keeper of the two holy sites of Islam, endorse an agreement regarding Jerusalem that would not leave the Temple Mount in Arab/Muslim hands? Undoubtedly, those states would like to see an agreement between Israel and the Palestinians, but cannot free themselves of their traditional positions.

  18. Keeping Iran in Check: How to Combat Iran’s Illicit Activities

The 2015 agreement to restrain the Islamic Republic’s nuclear ambitions, despite its many egregious faults, allows the U.S. to take a variety of steps to slow the regime’s progress toward building atomic weapons—steps that the Obama administration consistently refrained from taking. But there is no reason for Donald Trump to continue his predecessor’s commitment to interpreting the deal as leniently as possible. On the contrary, argue David Albright, Mark Dubowitz, and Brian Katulis, Washington should demand its strict construction and enforcement while coordinating with its allies to punish and counteract Tehran’s trouble-making throughout the Middle East.

  19. A Dangerous Newcomer to the Left’s War Against Trump & America
The agendas of David Brock’s organization, Shareblue.

A key participant in the political war by which the Left is currently fighting to delegitimize and ultimately destroy the Trump presidency is a relatively new organization called Shareblue, which grew out of Blue Nation Review (BNR), a pro-Democrat entity that once described Hillary Clinton as “one of the most ethical political leaders in America.” In 2015 David Brock, a former-conservative-turned-leftist, purchased BNR and rebranded it as Shareblue. From the outset, his objective has been to develop Shareblue into a progressive media outlet that speaks directly to grass roots Americans, who are, in Brock’s estimation, “avidly and unabashedly pro-Hillary.”

Shareblue first outlined its major objectives in a 44-page confidential memo that set the agenda for a January 2017 conference at Florida’s luxurious Turnberry Isle resort, where Mr. Brock addressed some 120 wealthy Democratic donors and tried to map out a course of action by which leftists could effectively “kick Donald Trump’s ass” during the next four years. Specifically, the memo indicated that Brock plans to use Shareblue as a forum for “partisan combat” against Trump and his agenda.

Shareblue identifies its top priorities as follows:

    • Blue Nation Review (BNR), a pro-Democrat entity that once described Hillary Clinton as “one of the most ethical political leaders in America.”

  20. Of Spies and Centrifuges

In April 2009, a young Iranian, Shahram Amiri, disappeared in Medina, Saudi Arabia. Ostensibly there to perform the hajj, Amiri had in fact brokered a deal with the CIA to provide information on Iran’s nuclear program. Leaving his wife and child behind in Iran and a shaving kit in an empty Saudi hotel room, Amiri fled to America, received asylum, pocketed $5 million, and resettled in Arizona. Formerly a scientist at Malek Ashtar University, one of several institutes harboring Iran’s nuclear endeavors, Amiri conveyed the structure of the program and intelligence about a number of key research sites, including the secret facility at Fordow.

  21. The ICE Man Cometh
And the illegals’ Democrat collaborators boil over with rage.
    March 31, 2017
    Lloyd Billingsley

Those who violated U.S. immigration law and remain in the country illegally claim to be fearful that Immigration and Customs Enforcement will grab them in church or at the doctor’s office. Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones thought it would be a good idea to bring in ICE acting director Thomas Homan “to try and find common ground by reducing conflicting information, eliminating ambiguity, and reducing fear by presenting factual information directly from their sources.”

No sooner had Jones announced the March 28 informational event, the first of its kind, when the Democratic Party of Sacramento County issued an Instagram “action alert” stating: “It’s time to tell Scott Jones what we think of his discriminatory efforts to divide families & harm our community. Join us as we stand united against his hate-filled attacks against immigrants.”

Protesters marched under banners reading “no ban no wall” and bearing the image of a Muslim woman in a hijab and a Mexican farmworker with a red scarf over her face. Local SEIU union boss Miguel Cordova said it was to “celebrate and honor the work of Cesar Chavez.” It somehow escaped notice that United Farm Worker boss Chavez had deployed goons to attack illegals coming across the border, lest they take union jobs.

The day before the event, Salvador Sarmiento of the National Day Laborer Organizing Network announced “ICE is not welcomed here.” On Tuesday protesters sang “this land was made for you and me,” chanted “California is an immigrant state, we don’t want your racist hate,” and carried signs reading #resiste.

  22. Remaking Syria: A Military Update, the Diplomatic Situation, and the Israeli Angle

After more than six blood-soaked years, some half a million dead (mostly civilians), and millions of displaced people and refugees, there are signs that the military stage in the Syrian civil war is approaching an end. Israel, which has largely been distanced from the Syrian quagmire, senses its lack of influence over arrangements currently underway in Moscow, Tehran, Ankara, Astana, and Geneva.

Following Israel’s recent aerial attack deep in Syria on a storage site serving Hezbollah and/or forces subordinate to Iran Prime Minister Netanyahu stated: “Our policy is very consistent. When we identify attempts to transfer advanced weapons to Hezbollah, and we have the intelligence and the operational feasibility, we act to prevent it. This is how it’s been and how it will be. I can speak of our resolve. It is rock solid, and the proof is that we are taking action. Everyone should take that into account. Everyone.”

This reflects an Israeli decision to intensify its involvement in what is shaping up in Syria, given the understanding that the balance of power is changing to Israel’s detriment. The question now is to what extent Israel can remain determined to maintain its red lines and prevent the buildup of Hezbollah and other Iranian proxies in Syria and the deployment of these forces near the border in the Golan Heights, without destabilizing its special relations with Moscow and without causing wider escalation in the northern arena.

  23. The New Jacobins
Campus fascists have been using their Gestapo tactics against pro-Israel speakers for years.
    March 31, 2017
    Richard L. Cravatts

When Chester Evans Finn, Jr., a former United States Assistant Secretary of Education, observed in 1989 that university campuses had become “islands of repression in a sea of freedom,” he was anticipating a troubling and prevalent trend now poisoning academia, namely, the suppression of free speech. With alarming regularity, speakers are shouted down, booed, jeered, and barraged with vitriol, all at the hands of groups who give lip service to the notion of academic free speech, and who demand it when their speech is at issue, but have no interest in listening to, or letting others listen to, ideas that contradict their own world view.

This is the tragic and inevitable result of a decades of grievance-based victimism by self-designated groups who frame their rights and demands on identity politics and who have been successful in weaponizing this victim status to stifle debate. In the space of the past two months, for example, tendentious and morally self-righteous progressive students, and some faculty, have displayed a shocking disregard for the university’s cardinal virtue of free expression, deciding themselves who may say what about whom on their respective campuses—and purging from campuses those ideas they have deemed too hateful, too unsafe, too incendiary to tolerate or to allow to be heard.

At Middlebury College, in one of the most astonishing examples, Charles Murray, political scientist, libertarian, and author of the controversial 1994 book, The Bell Curve: Intelligence and Class Structure in American Life, was verbally assaulted by a crazed audience of students intent on shutting down his planned speech—a crowd that eventually physically surrounded Murray and a Middlebury professor, Allison Stanger, and shoved them with sufficient force that she was hospitalized. “Your message is hatred, we cannot tolerate it,” the intellectual thugs screamed out.

  24. Yemeni rebels detain 7 from medical aid group (abcnews, Mar 31, 2017)

“Yemeni rebels have detained seven local employees of a humanitarian aid group and accused them of spying for foreign intelligence, security officials said Friday.

The rebels, known as Houthis, raided a hotel the humanitarian group was using in Ibb province, taking the employees to a prison in the capital, Sanaa.

International Medical Corps said five staff members and two drivers had been detained, and that they were working to secure their release so they could continue to aid a population suffering from war…”

  25. Lebanese PM urges world help to cope with refugee influx (abcnews, Mar 31, 2017)

“Lebanon will present a comprehensive plan to help alleviate the enormous burden of Syrian refugees at an upcoming Syria conference in Brussels, but needs urgent international support to avoid collapse, Lebanon’s prime minister said Friday.

Speaking to a group of journalists ahead of the April 5 European conference in Brussels on supporting the future of Syria, Hariri warned that Lebanon faces serious security and economic issues and has reached breaking point.

“The international community has to understand that Lebanon cannot pay the price of the unresolved conflict in Syria,” Hariri said…”

  26. Austrian lawmaker alleges global Turkish surveillance (abcnews, Mar 31, 2017)

“A hodge-podge of documents presented by a senior Austrian lawmaker purports to show a Turkish global surveillance network aimed at undermining organizations loyal to a Muslim cleric who Turkey believes was behind last year’s coup attempt.

Greens Parliamentarian Peter Pilz this week showed selected reporters memos from what he says are Turkish consulates and embassies in 35 countries as far flung as Kosovo, Japan and Australia reporting back to Ankara.

Depending on the country, the correspondence ranges from historical overviews of organizations backed by U.S.-based cleric Fethullah Gulen, to detailed listings of schools, business and women’s organizations, religious societies, media outlets and non-governmental organizations. Some contain the names, addresses and personal details of those involved.

Officials from Austria’s Interior Minister said they hadn’t seen the latest documents, but were treating as genuine ones presented by Pilz that focused only on Austria. The Turkish Foreign Ministry didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

Pilz shared the new documents with selected reporters Thursday in Turkish and in German translations. An Associated Press review of selected Turkish originals indicates they were authentic.

Pilz, in comments to the AP, spoke of a “huge … network consisting of associations, clubs and mosques” that keeps tabs on Gulen via religious attaches at diplomatic representations who report back to Turkey…”

  27. Jailed pro-Kurdish party leader begins hunger strike (abcnews, Mar 31, 2017)

“The jailed leader of Turkey’s pro-Kurdish party said Friday he has begun a hunger strike to protest prison conditions.

Selahattin Demirtas said in a statement released by his People’s Democratic Party, or HDP, that he would refuse food to denounce what he described as “unlawful, inhuman and arbitrary practices” in Turkish prisons.

Demirtas said he also wanted to draw attention to hunger strikes by other prisoners in Turkey.

The HDP says more than 100 Kurdish or other prisoners are on hunger strikes in Turkish prisons, some for the past 40 days. The Turkish Human Rights Foundation reported that at least five female prisoners had gone on a hunger strike in a prison in Tarsus, southern Turkey, on Thursday…”

  28. Muslims protest with street prayer in Paris suburb (abcnews, Mar 31, 2017)

“Hemmed in and closely watched by police, hundreds of Muslims unrolled rugs and prayed outdoors Friday in the busy streets of a Paris suburb to protest the closure of their prayer hall.

The show of strength by throngs of worshippers in Clichy highlighted a long-standing issue for France’s Muslim community, estimated at 5 million people: a shortage of mosques.

Such protests aren’t without risk of a backlash, especially in the politically heated atmosphere of France’s upcoming presidential election. Far-right presidential candidate Marine Le Pen has previously decried street prayers, part of her anti-immigrant, anti-Islam outlook.

Clichy Muslims had been using a prayer hall rented from City Hall. But the town’s mayor now wants to turn that space into a multimedia library for the town’s 60,000 residents.

City Hall refused to renew the three-year lease when it expired last June and, following a court battle, closed down the prayer hall last week with help from French police.

City Hall says Muslims can worship at a new Islamic cultural and prayer center, already used by hundreds of people, that the town inaugurated in May 2016.

However, the Muslim group that helped organize Friday’s protest and which is calling for another demonstration Sunday says the new mosque is too small and remote…”

  29. German court convicts man, 19, of raping 90-year-old woman (abcnews, Mar 31, 2017)

“A German court has convicted a man of raping a 90-year-old woman and sentenced him to 5 ? years in prison.

The Duesseldorf state court convicted the 19-year-old defendant under juvenile law Friday of rape, robbery and bodily harm, news agency dpa reported. The victim was attacked in Duesseldorf on a Sunday in October just after she visited a church.

During the trial, the Moroccan-born man, identified only as Souhayl M. in line with German privacy rules, admitted to committing the attack and said he had been drinking and taking cocaine beforehand.

The defendant grew up in Spain, where he was convicted of narcotics and other offenses. He said he came to Germany in 2016 because he risked going to prison in Spain. Investigators used DNA to track him down.”

  30. Italy: Muslim Mother Shaves Head of Daughter Who Refused to Wear Veil

A Muslim mother has shaved the head of her 14-year-old daughter in Bologna, Italy, on learning that the child was taking off her headscarf as soon as she would leave the house.

The eighth-grade girl would reportedly put her headscarf back on just before returning to the family home, but her deception was eventually caught by her mother on Wednesday, who summarily cut off all her hair.

When the girl arrived to school bald on Thursday, her teachers inquired into what had happened, and when she told them, the school principal decided to inform the police, who took the girl into custody.

Charges of mistreatment and abuse have been brought against the girl’s parents, who are of Bangladeshi origin, and the case has been handed over to the local prosecutor of offenses involving minors, together with the cooperation of social services.

The mayor of Bologna, Virginio Merola, criticized the punishment inflicted on the girl as “unacceptable parental authoritarianism” and warned that “those who come to Italy must follow our laws and our Constitution.”

The Bologna coordinator of the Muslim community, Yassine Lafram, also took the girl’s side in the matter, stating that according to Islamic tradition “any form of coercion makes the act itself invalid.”

All the prescriptions of Islam, from the Ramadan fast to the pilgrimage to Mecca, “are part of a free choice of the person and no one can impose them, religiously speaking,” Lafram said.

At the same time, Lafram said it is necessary “to help the family, including the mother herself, and to understand what motivated her to carry out this act.”

“It’s too easy to condemn her and hand her over to the mediatic slaughterhouse,” he said.

  32. France fearing suicide CHEMICAL ATTACKERS who INFECT THEMSELVES with deadly diseases (express, Mar 31, 2017)

“FRANCE fears a chilling chemical attack by terrorists who could even be prepared to infect themselves with deadly contagious diseases, a shocking report has found.

The report, conducted by the country’s Defence and National Security agency, focused “future threats” that France will have to face from today to 2030.

The terrifying study, published in Le Figaro, said suicide terrorists who have infected themselves with contagious diseases could attack the country.

New terror threats revealed in the report will be unveiled to certain MPs, security experts and university researchers in April.

The report, which aims to best inform France’s decision makers on such issues, warned terrorists are trying to “actively acquire nuclear, radiological, biological or chemical materials to confirm the idea of having weapons of mass destruction”.

The defence agency also fears there could be an attack on the country’s communication systems…”
