In America same but differing : Instead of EU we have huge corporate farmer, subsidies for not planting. Monsanto control of GMO seed contracts. Monsanto is destroying India’s small farmer by no choice seed contracts. Big bank favoritism. Small business of any kind same story. Every body will eventually work for the suits and ties in the board room. Board rooms are feeling the pressure from computer generated crop futures market. Over shadowed by FDA chemical application for everything with no regard of ecology. example Bees. Bees are disappearing, no pollination, no pollination, crop failure.
This has been brought about by two things: 1) massive government regulation of what the farmers can and can’t do. 2) Keynesian economics that have priced the small farmer out of business. The left hates small business and do all they can to destroy them because this gives the lower middle class too much control over their own lives and the left wants to control everything about everyone. When I was a child a small farmer with 100 acres in production could make a real good living, now to make a good living you have to have a minimum of 1000 acres in production.
Another part of the problem is that the people (including way too many farmers) have been brain washed into believing that farming is a way of life not a business. Farming is a business big or small and has to be run as a business or it will rail.
I know of several small “farmers” who have been living on government payments for not planing anything for a couple of generations. If they were ever forced to farm for a living they would starve.
Remove the government control stated and implied she sounds like Donald Trump.
Maybe these regions could use some missionaries. The people probably knew something about Christianity as children. Such poor souls, if only they could see a light, some hope. ‘Jesus saves’ is more than a slogan.
