On videos and problems some people are experiencing seeing them

First, let me say that these technical problems seeing videos are probably because newer videos are being uploaded to a new platform because of difficulties, hopefully temporary, with Youtube.

Mostly, Vid.me, the host site we are using now, seems OK. Definitely less problematic for newer systems and high bandwidth connections. Also, and this is a pure intuitive guess and not based on any knowledge, I suspect that unlike Google, which has offices full of servers all over the world, Vid.me likely has one server farm and one location. So the closer you are to it the better it works.

For me, it works fantastic. And even looks really good. But in Europe I am hearing complaints about stops and starts, and some people in the US with rural connections have to to meditation to develop the patience required to get through a video.

For some of the complaints I am seeing here, I recommend trying different browsers. Old versions of browsers may not work. This may serve video as HTML5 instead of flash for example. Try Chrome and the newest version of it. Make sure the browser has been closed and opened recently as sometimes if you have looked a many things, your memory is used up and needs to be flushed. On some systems, closing the browser will do it. If the browser needed to be force quit, then for sure that was the issue.

Some systems will need to be restarted to free up the needed memory.

We really did not intend for this problem to happen. But we also do not want our Youtube channel shut down. So before we can start relying on it again, we need about another 30 days or so.

We can also send videos to LiveLeak. But some report the same issues, and its a bit more work to get videos up there as I cannot log in to LL with the new machine. So I have to start the old machine, move the file there, and then upload, not to mention fill in a whole 2 page form of stuff about the video. Not worth it if it gives the same performance as Vid.me

Also Vid.me has a really cool feature. It shows you how many people are watching any given video right then live! And where they spoof their IP’s from!

So for example, the new video with Bill Warner and Sandra Solomon has 80 people watching right now from 20 countries, most of whom’s flags I don’t recognize.
