  1. ‘BBC WAKES UP’ Twitter EXPLODES over ‘shocking’ After Brexit documentary on EU collapse (express, Feb 10, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/765583/bbc-brexit-collapse-european-union-martin-schulz-marine-le-pen-twitter

“TWITTER rejoiced at a BBC documentary last night which showed leading political figures admit the EU is on the brink of collapse.

After Brexit: The Battle for Europe saw BBC Europe editor Katya Adler quiz EU chiefs and leading politicians on the future of the crumbling bloc.

The BBC, which has been accused of a pro-EU bias, was forced to admit the EU is in crisis in the hour-long documentary that trended on social media.

Ms Adler said: “The powerbrokers of Europe face an unprecedented challenge. For the EU this is a battle to survive. Brussels doesn’t exactly have a reputation for moving fast but something will have to give.

“It could be that our national debate in Britain about Brexit turns out to be an irrelevance.

“Sooner or later the EU as we know it may no longer be there for us to leave.”

In the programme Martin Schulz, the former president of the European Parliament, admitted there was a “real risk” the EU will fall apart as populism rises…”

    • Martin Schulz, the former president of the European Parliament, admitted there was a “real risk” the EU will fall apart as populism rises…

As it becomes clearer that the EU has been setting the European nations on the course for National, Cultural and Physical suicide it is a given that the EU will break up. The breakup will happen sooner then most people expect and in some nations the breakup will not be peaceful.

    • Ms Adler said: “The powerbrokers of Europe face an unprecedented challenge. For the EU this is a battle to survive.”

“The powerbrokers of Europe”??? Try the pawnbrokers of Europe, who have placed the entire Continent’s future in hock for the sake of realizing their own delusional fantasy of “diversity” and multiculturalism.

Just the PIGS (Portugal, Ireland, Greece and Spain) alone will be enough to torpedo the EU. Factor in the parasitism of its newly arrived “immigrantseconomic predators and Europe’s slide into chaos is a fait accompli

      • OK I agree with your very good comment.

But did you add Ireland to the South Europe economies just so you could spell the word PIGS?

        • The acronym “PIGS” has been around since the 1990s. Although (having just now researched the term), Ireland and Italy are considered to be interchangeable. There even exists the abbreviation* “PIIGS” so that none of these failing EU (properly pronounced “eew”) economies have to feel left out.

          * Why is “abbreviation” such a long word?)

            • You left out Italy, they are the other I and are in bad shape.

Ummm … no. Please see my above reply to Eeyore. Otherwise, yes, Italy is screwed, blued, and tattooed.

Italian citizens cannot trot out the luparas soon enough.

  2. EXPOSED: Secret plan to tie Britain to EU after Brexit is being kept ‘under the radar’ (express, Feb 10, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/765411/brexit-plan-european-treaty-britain-trade-deals-negotiations-douglas-carswell

“MINISTERS have provoked fury for trying to put through a treaty “under the radar” which will keep Britain tied to the EU after Brexit.

An early day motion (EDM) will today be put down by Ukip MP Douglas Carswell objecting to the Unitary Patent Court Agreement (UPCA).

The deal, which ministers have tried to avoid having a vote on, means that Britain will still be subject to the European Court of Justice (ECJ) after Brexit and mean we are still tied in with single market rules despite promises by Theresa May that we will completely leave…”

    • The self proclaimed elite are trying to maintain their power inspite of the will of the voters, this is a big mistake and will lead to massive civil unrest and at times violent revolution with revolutionary courts rendering summery justice to the people they dislike.

      • … with revolutionary courts rendering summery justice to the people they dislike.

I doubt that these venues will dawdle around until warm weather arrives before dispensing their (much needed and thoroughly warranted) summary justice.

        • The timing on something like this is hard to call, having been wrong a couple of times I am hedging my bets.

I say warm weather partially because winter fighting is harder then summer.

          • Dear Richard,

My entire post was a (hopefully) gentle poking at your misspelling of the word “summary” (versus “summery”). Other than that, as usual, we are in violent agreement.

  3. ‘You look older than 17!?’ Moment Sky News host probes Calais ‘child’ migrants set for UK (express, Feb 10, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/765624/Reporter-questions-Calais-migrants-enter-Britain-France

“A GROUP of child migrants were repeatedly asked how old they were as they waited in Calais in the hope of crossing into Britain.

The three males were filmed waiting on the roadside holding a Union Jack flag as they discussed their desire to leave France for a life in the UK.

Calais was the home of the infamous ‘Jungle’ camp which housed thousands of migrants until it was bulldozed and cleared in late 2016.

Speaking to three young males, a Sky News reporter asked the trio their ages.

The first of the men said he was 17, causing the reporter to say: “You look older than 17. You really are 17?”

The man, wearing black coat with the hood up, again replied yes…”

  4. Merkel urged to make ‘Germany a NUCLEAR SUPERPOWER for Europe’ over US-exit fears (express, Feb 10, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/765679/angela-merkel-germany-nuclear-superpower-united-states-nato

“GERMANY should become a nuclear superpower and spearhead European efforts to acquire weapons, according to leading politicians.

Berlin is under pressure to obtain nuclear weapons for the EU over fears the United States will leave NATO.

Head of Poland’s ruling party Jaroslaw Kaczynski told German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, he would “welcome an EU nuclear superpower” shortly before meeting Angela Merkel in Warsaw.

It is thought he may have pressed the German Chancellor on the issue during the visit.

Mr Kaczynski said Europe should become a superpower with a nuclear arsenal to rival Russia…”

    • Lets see Britain has nukes, France has nukes so why does Germany need nukes? Could it possibly be to threaten Britain and France and try and force them to stay in the EU? Or is Merkel planning on giving them to the Islamic invaders?

  5. Helpless woman is lashed till she collapses in sickening Sharia law punishment (express, Feb 10, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/765677/woman-lashed-collapses-Sharia-law-beating

“BARBARIC footage showing a woman being lashed in public in a sickening example of Sharia law has surfaced online.

The poor woman can be heard screaming in agony as she is beaten by a masked man while a cheering crowd watch on.

A large number of men and women can be seen watching on while filming the despicable act on their phones.

The masked man teases the crowd by cruelly moving the wooden cane close to his victim’s back, as the audience whoop and cheer.

Suddenly he draws it back and strikes her across the top of her back between her shoulder blades.

With her face and head hidden by a pink headscarf, the woman reaches back to try and numb the pain from the abominable beating.

After no less than five strikes she collapses to the floor while the assembled crowd applaud…”

    • It is difficult to decide which is more “barbaric” … that a woman is given permanently disfiguring lashes or that such a travesty attracts a cheering and applauding crowd (who further debase themselves by deeming it worthwhile to openly record this sort of cruel and unusual punishment).

Just chalk it up as reason # 5,728 why Islam has no place in the civilized world.

  6. Swedes rally to defend officer facing probe for ‘migrants to blame for serious crime’ rant (express, Feb 10, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/765613/Swedes-rally-defend-police-probe-migrants-blame-for-serious-crime-rant

“A SWEDISH police officer currently under investigation after he said migrants were to blame for much of the serious crime he deals with, has experienced a swell of support.

Last Friday Peter Springare took to Facebook to detail what his average week looked like as a police investigator in Örebro, a small city in southern Sweden.

Mr Springare, who has committed nearly 50 years of his life to the force, said he believes the majority share of serious crimes were being committed by migrants.

The former deputy chief of the serious crimes division wrote: “I’m so f***** tired. What I’m writing here isn’t politically correct. But I don’t care.

“Our pensioners are on their knees, the schools are a mess, healthcare is an inferno, the police is completely destroyed. Everyone knows why, but none dares or wants to say why.”

Revealing the cases he had been assigned that week, Mr Springare said he had dealt with a number of serious rapes, assaults, blackmail, murder attempt, abuse and violence against the police.

“Half of the suspects, we can’t be sure because they don’t have any valid papers,” he said.

“Which in itself usually means that they’re lying about their nationality and identity. Now we are only talking about Örebro municipality.”

Controversy erupted across Sweden following the Facebook post and the outspoken officer is facing an internal probe after sharing the information on social media.

The report, filed by police management, accuses Mr Springare of racial agitation, however he has been allowed to remain in his role pending the result of the probe.

A number of leading officials have tried to discredit Mr Springare’s claims however Frederik Sword, chief investigator of the Ljungby police, said the officer had portrayed the situation accurately.

Mr Sword told SML: “This is a hot potato, but this is what it looks like in reality. Foreign-born and second generation immigrants are overrepresented in certain crimes.

“I would never have written such a thing on Facebook. He had every right to do it, but as a police officer, one has to be extremely neutral and impartial when it comes to issues related to politics, religion and sexual orientation.”

He added: “As the chief investigator in Ljungby, I’ve had much the same experience. The picture he gives is realistic.”

Thousands have rushed to support Mr Sprinagare and thanked him for having the courage to tell the truth about the existential crisis facing Sweden.

A Facebook group, called ‘Stand up for Peter Springare’ has gained more than 162,000 members since it was created over the weekend, and many frustrated Swedes have used it as a platform to show their appreciation, as well as share their own experiences.

One user, who claimed to work for the police in Stockholm, the Swedish capital, also said Mr Springare had told the truth.

Oskar Tallryd wrote: “What he says is no exaggeration or lie, this is my everyday. This is many police officers everyday life.”

On Tuesday, the Swedish PM hit out against the claims as he said the police officer had been wrong to paint such a bleak picture of the situation.

Stefan Löfven said: “I don’t know what it looks like in Örebro, but from a broader perspective I have a very hard time believing 100 per cent of police investigation resources are spent on crimes committed by immigrants. I would say that it is wrong.”

While Police commissioner Dan Eliasson warned Mr Springare of the dangers of expressing such opinions while still serving as a police officer.

Mr Springare is not the first Swede to suffer a backlash after publicly declaring the liberal country’s migrant policy was threatening to destroy the country from within as Czech author Katerina Janouch was accused of “spreading Russian propaganda” after she said people wanted to learn how to shoot because they were scared.”

    • A Facebook group, called ‘Stand up for Peter Springare’ has gained more than 162,000 members since it was created over the weekend, and many frustrated Swedes have used it as a platform to show their appreciation, as well as share their own experiences.

Sweden’s government had best pay close attention to this phenomenon (not that they actually will). Seeing 162,000 members aggregate over the course of a single “weekend” merits some careful consideration. Highly successful revolutions have been started with far less than 162,000 recruits. All the more so if those numbers include disaffected law enforcement officers.

Personally, I’m asstonished that Facebook let stand such icky-poo, naughty, and downright illiberal [gasp!] portrayals of Europe’s oh-so-pwecious “cultural enrichers”.

“On Tuesday, the Swedish PM hit out against the claims as he said the police officer had been wrong to paint such a bleak picture of the situation.

Very “wrong”, indeed. As the “situation” in Sweden goes light-years beyond Prime Minister Stefan Löfven’s characterization of being merely “bleak” and, instead, approaches the “let’s get those tumbrels rolling!” stage.

      • Police officers in several European nations have started publicly criticizing the government orders and actions about the criminal invaders, this is indeed a sign that the European politicians need to decide if they are going to get in front of the mob and lead it or if they are going to get in front of the mob and run like hell.

Prosecutor Lise-Lotte Nilas says the teenager is accused of “having made preparations to make bombs” using the explosive known as TATP. She said her targets were a school west of Copenhagen and a Jewish school in the capital….”

    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/arrested-including-teen-explosives-seized-french-raid-45396909

“French anti-terrorism forces arrested four people on Friday, including a 16-year-old girl, and uncovered a makeshift laboratory with the explosive TATP and other base ingredients for fabricating a bomb, the Paris prosecutor’s office said.

The prosecutor’s office said around 70 grams of TATP were seized in the home of a 20-year-old man, along with a liter each of acetone, oxygenated water and sulfuric acid. TATP, which can be made from readily available materials, was used in the November 2015 attack in Paris and the March 2016 attack in Brussels carried out by Islamic State extremists.

Two other men were arrested, a 33-year-old and a 26-year-old, along with the 16-year-old girl, according to the prosecutor’s office, which handles terrorism investigations in France.

A police official, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss the unfolding investigation, said one of the suspects was believed to be planning a suicide attack but that the investigation had not yet uncovered a specific target…”

    • Let’s all hope that this teen-aged girl is locked up in the same cell as her fellow co-conspirators. That way, she can enjoy the fullest extent of their attentions as they constantly remind her of the precise role which women (of any age) play in everyday Islam.

  9. Islamic State shifts to Libya’s desert valleys after Sirte defeat (reuters, Feb 10, 2017)
    http://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-libya-security-islamicstate-idUKKBN15P1H1?rpc=401&

“Islamic State militants have shifted to desert valleys and inland hills southeast of Tripoli as they seek to exploit Libya’s political divisions after defeat in their former stronghold of Sirte, security officials say.

The militants, believed to number several hundred and described as “remnants” of Islamic State’s Libya operation, are trying to foment chaos by cutting power and water supplies and to identify receptive local communities, the officials said.

They are being monitored through aerial surveillance and on-the-ground intelligence, but Libyan officials said they cannot easily be targeted without advanced air power of the kind used by the United States on Jan. 19, when B-2 bombers killed more than 80 militants in a strike southwest of Sirte…”

    • If several hundred are in Libya where are the rest? There are more then several hundred hard core ISIS fighters.

    • Iran: Rouhani slams ‘novice politicians’ on 38th anniversary of Islamic Revolution

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani addressed crowds of hundreds of thousands in Tehran on Friday to mark the 38th anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, where he made clear that Iran was “not seeking tension in the region or the world.”

SOT, Hassan Rouhani, Iranian President (Farsi): “Today we are facing a problem in the region, some of the novice politicians have taken the power in the region and in the world, furthermore, the US has taken the power in its hands. All of them should know that anything said against the Iranian nation must be expressed with respect and dignity.”

SOT, Hassan Rouhani, Iranian President (Farsi): “We are not seeking tension in the region or the world.”

      • Wouldn’t it be delightful if, while leading yet another “Death to America!” chant, the person onstage suddenly sprouted a .50 caliber third eye? Having this happen on a consistent basis would send an important and much-needed message to Muslims everywhere.

      • “America will face dark days”

So, what’s to prevent even darker days happening to Iran? Inquiring minds want to know!!!

Just bombing Iran’s few (marginally performing) gasoline refineries easily could crash that terrorist sponsor’s national economy in a matter of weeks.

We’ll see if Trump has the proverbial oysters to do any such thing.

  10. ‘US taxpayers paid $100 bln attempting to turn Afghanistan into Holland’ (RT, Feb 10, 2017)
    https://www.rt.com/op-edge/376841-us-afghanistan-taliban-war/

“Afghanistan is still a very tribal, warlord-driven society. There is no way we can create a kind of a society that would be stable that we’re going to leave behind, Jim Jatras, former US diplomat and GOP foreign policy adviser, told RT.

It’s almost 16 years since the US invaded Afghanistan to fight terrorism. At the moment the country is even more unstable than ever. The Taliban controls more territory than at any time since 2001. Civilian causalities are the highest level since first being tracked in 2009.

RT: What is happening in Afghanistan now?

Jim Jatras: Well, the situation is deteriorating. It reflects a failure of vision – what are we trying to accomplish there? I think the idea was that we go there, kill whoever we need to kill after 9/11. In my opinion, that is what we mainly should have done – turn the keys over to the Russians and the Indians and have gotten out of Dodge.

We didn’t do that, we decided to stay, engage in nation building, to learn all the wrong lessons from Charlie Wilson’s War. If we just build enough schools, hospitals, roads, and bridges, it would turn into Holland or something. And that didn’t happen. That is still a very tribal society, factional society, a warlord-driven society. We’re not going to stay there forever. There is no way we can create a kind of a society that would be stable that we’re going to leave behind. We put in over 100 billion dollars of US taxpayer money into rebuilding Afghanistan. It clearly hasn’t worked, and more isn’t going to change that…”

    • This is what happens when we let the libs of various stripes decide that they can rebuild all societies to fit their delusions. Nation building only works on semi civilized societies and then the time the nation remains rebuild can be short in the historical sense. We rebuild Germany after smashing them flat and now new German tyrants are threatening all of Europe. So far Japan has remained the society we built but with the libs pulling us out of that region on a periodic basis we don’t know how long they will remain the nation we build.

As for the 7th Century cultures in the Middle East nation building won’t work, punitive expeditions will work as long as the US and Western Europe are willing for the western militaries to carry out primitive punitive expeditions. Welcome to the foreseeable future that the alt left has build for us.

  11. Daesh Trying to Open New Front in Afghanistan Using Turkey as Gateway (sputniknews, Feb 10, 2017)

“During a meeting with his Afghan counterpart Salahaddin Rabbani on Tuesday, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Moscow was worried by Daesh’s growing presence in Afghanistan. In an interview with Sputnik, Turkish expert on Central Asia, Esedullah O?uz, commented on the situation.

Esedullah O?uz said that, hard hit by the antiterrorist operations in Syria and Iraq, the terrorist group was now trying to open a new front in northern Afghanistan were it has seen a great number of militants from Central Asia joining its ranks over the past few years.
Describing Turkey as the primary route used by terrrosists on their way from Central Asia to Afghanistan, O?uz underscored the need for Turkey to tighten its border controls…”

  12. 77% of refugees allowed into U.S. since travel reprieve hail from seven suspect countries

The State Department has more than doubled the rate of refugees from Iraq, Syria and other suspect countries in the week since a federal judge’s reprieve, in what analysts said appears to be a push to admit as many people as possible before another court puts the program back on ice.

A staggering 77 percent of the 1,100 refugees let in since Judge James L. Robart’s Feb. 3 order have been from the seven suspect countries. Nearly a third are from Syria alone — a country that President Trump has ordered be banned altogether from the refugee program. Another 21 percent are from Iraq. By contrast, in the two weeks before Judge Robart’s order, just 9 percent of refugees were from Syria and 6 percent were from Iraq.

“There’s no doubt in my mind they would be doing whatever they could to get people in before something changes because, from their perspective, their motivation is to resettle these folks. It would not be the first time that State Department officials have prioritized facilitating someone’s entry to the United States over security concerns,” said Jessica Vaughan, policy studies director at the Center for Immigration Studies.

  13. Morning Mix
Fear spreads in L.A. after immigration ‘raid,’ advocates claim. Officials say arrests are ‘routine.”

The panicked emails and phone calls began streaming in from community members at about 11 a.m. Thursday morning, inundating Los Angeles immigration lawyers with far more cases than usual. Immigrant advocate groups claim that more than 100 people had been taken into custody by federal immigration officials in Southern California Thursday, indicating a “coordinated sweep” in arrests and heightening fears that Donald Trump’s promise to crackdown on deportations had begun to take effect.

Police and immigration officials denied the “raids” and disputed the claim that the arrests were part of a more stringent approach, saying any detentions were simply part of “routine” enforcement activities. But a flurry of calls regarding arrests spurred immigration attorneys into rapid response efforts, and prompted protests on the streets of downtown Los Angeles.

“We know the daily patterns of people being picked up and taken,” Angelica Salas, executive director of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, or CHIRLA, said in an interview with The Washington Post. “There’s a natural flow of enforcement that happens every day. But this was not normal.”

  14. Protest Erupts in Downtown L.A. Following Reports of Immigration Raids at Homes Across Southern California

While immigration advocates say more than 100 people were detained Thursday as U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials conducted home raids across three Southern California counties, the federal agency insists its operations were “routine” and not part of President Donald Trump’s unprecedented immigration crackdown.

ICE officials have yet to release detailed information on how many people the agency arrested Thursday and where they were taken into custody, only stating that the activities were “targeted and lead driven, prioritizing individuals who pose a risk to our communities,” according to ICE spokesperson Lori Haley.

  15. Anti-Muslim poster clouds Swiss citizenship vote

Geneva (AFP) – The woman’s shadowed eyes stare out from a black niqab with the poster’s tagline urging Swiss voters to reject “uncontrolled naturalisation.”

But critics of the campaign image distributed across the country ahead of Sunday’s referendum say the poster is really just a brazen appeal to those worried about more Muslims becoming Swiss.

“That is exactly what they are trying to (do)”, said Pius Walker, who heads the Zurich-based advertising agency Walker AG.

“It is a very, very frightening thing that is going on here.”

The issue in Sunday’s vote, the latest in Switzerland’s direct democracy system, is whether the grandchildren of immigrants should be able to benefit from an expedited citizenship process.

The government as well a majority of lawmakers and political parties support the proposal.

They argue that children born in Switzerland, who have a grandparent who was also born in the country or had a residency card, should be able to skip a few steps in the arduous process of securing a Swiss passport.

  16. Paris suicide bomb plot: Sixteen-year-old girl among four held

Explosives and other bomb-making materials are found during a search of the suspects’ homes, says a French prosecutor.

Four people including a 16-year-old girl have been arrested on suspicion of planning a suicide attack in Paris.

French prosecutors have said the group were arrested in Montpellier in the south of the country.

The teenager was the girlfriend of one of the other suspects, who is 22, according to reports.

Both are said to have been known to the authorities because of their links to radical Islam.

  17. Should U.S. be preparing for a North Korean nuclear strike on the West Coast?

    Read more here: http://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/nation-world/national/national-security/article131808834.html#storylink=cpy

After listening to experts describe the threat posed by North Korea and its nuclear arsenal, U.S. Rep. Brad Sherman, a California Democrat, paused amid a Capitol Hill hearing earlier this week and made a suggestion.

“We ought to have civil defense in this country,” said Sherman during a hearing of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. “Some of us are old enough to remember when we had civil defense and we were under our desks.”

The congressman wasn’t calling for an immediate return to the “duck and cover” days of the Cold War. But his statement reflects heightened alarm among members of Congress – especially those from the West Coast – over North Korea’s continuing nuclear tests and advances in missile technology.

In the last year alone, North Korea has conducted 20 missile tests and two nuclear tests. That’s a marked annual increase from the 42 missile tests and two nuclear tests of the previous seven years, according to Victor Cha, a Korea specialist with the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington.

Cha and other experts say it is highly likely that North Korea’s Kim Jong Un will launch another intercontinental ballistic missile this year, in part to gauge the response from President Donald Trump. While some of North Korea’s missile tests have ended in failure, the regime seems to be learning from each launch to improve its capability.

Many arms control specialists believe that, by 2020, North Korea could have the capacity to launch a miniaturized nuclear device on an ICBM, with the range to strike at least the West Coast. It might even have that capability sooner.

    • Yes we should have civil defense. We use to until JFK and his ivory tower intellectuals decided we were safer if we weren’t prepared for a nuclear attack. The Soviets never bought into the Mutually Assured Destruction they built radiation shelters and stocked them with supplies until they collapsed. Modern Russia is continuing this practice, The Dems stopped us from teaching how to survive a Nuclear, Bacteriological or Chemical attack,

Now that the Dems control the West (Left) coast and they are being threatened some are starting to reassess their stand on rational civil defense.

    • Should U.S. be preparing for a North Korean nuclear strike on the West Coast?

Ummmm … no. We should be taking steps to assure that Kim Jong Un experiences an unexpected bout of swift onset, high speed, lead poisoning. The Civil Defense training can come afterwards.

  18. U.S., China military planes come inadvertently close over South China Sea
    [Reuters]
    ReutersFebruary 9, 2017

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A U.S. Navy P-3 plane and a Chinese military aircraft came close to each other over the South China Sea in an incident the Navy believes was inadvertent, a U.S. official told Reuters on Thursday.

The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the aircraft came within 1,000 feet (305 meters) of each other on Wednesday in the vicinity of the Scarborough Shoal, between the Philippines and the Chinese mainland.

The official added that such interactions between Chinese and American aircraft are infrequent, with only two occurring in 2016.

  19. Russia halted Syrian army, rebel clash in northern Syria

BEIRUT/ISTANBUL (Reuters) – Russia intervened to halt a clash between Syrian government forces and Turkey-backed Syrian rebels in northern Syria, sources on both sides said on Friday, the first confrontation between them as both sides fight Islamic State in the area.

Islamic State is under attack from separate campaigns in northern Syria by Russian-backed government forces and Turkey-backed rebels. The clash on Thursday near the IS-held city of al-Bab underlined the risk of the parallel offensives igniting new fighting between the government and its rebel enemies.

Russia and Turkey have backed opposing sides in the war but recently started cooperating over Syria, brokering a truce between government forces and rebels and working together to try to revive peace talks.

Rebel officials said the clash took place in a village southwest of al-Bab. An official in a military alliance fighting in support of the Syrian government confirmed a clash had taken place. “The Russians intervened to control the situation,” said the source, speaking on condition of anonymity.

President Bashar al-Assad is supported in the war by the Russian military and an array of Iranian-backed militias.

  20. Quote of the Day: Some of the ‘refugees’ headed to the U.S. are definitely terrorists
By Ben Bowles February 10, 2017

The Ninth Circus Court has spoken, and the decision of the three-judge panel — to uphold the block on the administration’s temporary travel ban — is drawing cheer from liberals. This comes at a time when liberals are finding precious little to cheer about, but their victory dance may be short-lived. I hope to God I’m wrong, but a reliable source has confirmed that among the 4.8 million people who have fled Syria, there are “definitely” terrorists passing themselves off as asylum seekers.

So which Republican made that claim, which will almost certainly turn out to be specious? Try none. The observation was made by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad — in English — in an interview with investigative journalist Michael Isikoff.

For those who are still skeptical, there is “videotape” to go to, as Warner Wolf used to say.

The main takeaway from today’s decision is that the federal courts are now manned with enough political judges to prevail against a president who has taken a legal, constitutional action.

See the links at the second link above: there is no question that Trump was acting within his authority to order the suspension of refugee admissions from the seven threat countries. LU contributor Jerome Woehrle pointed out the ways in which the district court judge, James Robart, violated longstanding judicial interpretation and precedent. In fact, Jerome argued, Robart’s ruling had little apparent basis at all. And yet that’s the ruling the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld.

I’m just hearing on Fox News that the Ninth Circuit ruling — which I haven’t seen published yet — took a peculiar premise: that although federal courts have uniformly agreed that a presidential action like Trump’s is not reviewable, that doesn’t mean it isn’t reviewable by the courts.

Since no rights of American citizens are at stake, and no question at issue on what the president’s powers are, the implication here is that the courts are empowered to have an opinion different from the president’s on national security matters. That is a political, not a judicial judgment. Only Congress, according to Article III Section 2 of the Constitution, can expand the authority of the courts in such a way.

    • This ruling has many things wrong with it and is really an attack on the rule of law.

No where in the ruling is there any statement that the President doesn’t have the legal right to issue this order, the ruling says that the Judges think this is an immoral act and thus must over turn it. It is in fact a slap in the face of every person who voted for President Trump and of all how believe in the rule of law. If allowed to stand this ruling says that the left leaning Judges have the authority to ignore the Constitution and US Code and do what they want and the citizens of the US have no protection from them.

Does any rational person think that the Citizens of the US are going to allow a small group of self proclaimed elites strip all of their rights away from them and say we must let anyone who wants into the US? This isn’t going to happen. What will probably happen is that the Members of Congress who believe in the rule of law will halt all immigration which is their right under the Constitution until we can vet everyone that comes into the US. This action will touch off more riots and with luck will cause a total revamping of our immigration system limiting the number of people who can come in each year and hopefully take away Birthright citizenship for those who don’t have at least one parent who is a citizen of the US.

Keep your musket clean and your powder dry because things are going to get violent and self defense is a natural right that way too many governments have tried to strip from the people.

All around the world the stage is set for the People to seize back the freedom the alt left has been raping from us. The left talks about but doesn’t really want Power to the People. Well we areabout to see the people seize back the power the alt left wants for itself.

  23. German court upholds ban on parts of anti-Erdogan poem

Court says parts of comedian Jan Bohmermann’s insulting poem about Turkish leader exceeded limits of permissible criticism

A German court upheld Friday a ban on large sections of a satirical poem which mocked Turkey’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The Hamburg court ruled that many passages in the poem by comedian Jan Bohmermann breached the Turkish leader’s personal rights. It barred the German entertainer from republishing them.

While underlining the significance of artistic freedom and freedom of expression, the court concluded that certain parts of Bohmermann’s work exceeded the limits of permissible criticism.

“According to the Federal Constitutional Court, artistic freedom is unconditional but not unbounded,” the court said in its ruling.

“Satire is protected under artistic freedom, but it can also affect the core area of protection of personality, and for this reason it can be prohibited,” it added.

The court upheld its earlier ruling from May last year, when it issued a preliminary injunction and prohibited the German comedian from repeating certain sections of the poem, which included racial stereotypes, sexual references and insults.

Bohmermann sparked uproar in March last year with his controversial poem, which he read on public broadcaster ZDFneo.

He claimed his poem was aimed at highlighting human rights issues in Turkey; however, several critics saw the work as racist and abusive, exceeding the limits of freedom of expression.

Erdogan’s lawyers filed a complaint against the comedian.

BBC – German court upholds its ban on comedian’s Erdogan poem

The Hamburg court said that it stands by its order, issued last May, which prohibited republication of parts of a poem by German comic Jan Boehmermann.

The satirist, who is barred for repeating the majority of the verses, says he will appeal the verdict.

The poem, first broadcast in 2016, led to a free speech debate in Germany, and diplomatic tension with Turkey.

Mr Boehmermann’s lawyer, Christian Schertz, said Friday’s verdict “does not take into account freedom of artistic expression”.

But in a statement, the court said: “Satire that is secured under artistic freedom could be forbidden when it touches on the core area of personal freedom.”

However, the court also said that a head of state must expect heavier criticism than a regular citizen.

The poem played on President Erdogan’s reputation for cracking down on free speech at home, and included vulgar sexual references.

The Turkish president filed a criminal complaint against the satirist after it was broadcast on German television last March.

The criminal charges were later dropped, but the poem remains banned in Germany.

The case hinges on a rarely used 19th-century section of German’s criminal code that prohibits defamation of foreign heads of state.

Mr Boehmermann, considered Germany’s most incisive satirist, had read the obscene poem on his Neo Magazin Royale programme, making clear that it included material that broke German laws on free speech.

After the case became a national talking point, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said the authorities would move to repeal article 103 – concerning insults against foreign heads of state – by 2018.

President Erdogan has drawn much criticism in Turkey and internationally for targeting political opponents and jailing journalists.

In its first ruling, the court in Hamburg said that comments on Mr Erdogan’s treatment of freedom of speech were allowed, but said the sexual references were unacceptable.

The court objected to 18 of the poem’s 24 lines, deeming them “abusive and defamatory”.

Germany: Court upholds partial ban on comedian’s Erdogan poem

Hamburg court upheld a ban on certain phrases from comedian Jan Bohmermann’s poem about Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday, but did prohibit the entire piece.

SOT, Dr. Kai Wantzen, court press spokesperson (German): “The court’s approach was to examine each line considering the satirical meaning with regards to the personality of the complainant. It came to a result, that there are parts of the poem in which, even with a wide scale, specific insults and offenses were unacceptable.”

SOT, Dr. Kai Wantzen, court press spokesperson (German): “With the decision that the poem has some illicit parts that are intolerable to the complainant, the question is the least possible intervention, meaning the least possible interference.”

SOT, Dr. Kai Wantzen, court press spokesperson (German): “The question whether only parts or the whole poem should be forbidden, is the question of commensurability.” 🙂 🙂 🙂

SOT, Dr. Kai Wantzen, court press spokesperson (German): “The court has indicated that freedom of speech has to be especially considered, for the complainer is a head of state, and freedom of speech has a meaning from the critique of power, and that justifies the fact that the status of the complainer as head of state leads to him needing to acquiesce it more than perhaps others”

  24. BREITBART – Former Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Says ‘Kingdom of Terror’ Spreading Islamism in Europe

Norway’s former ambassador to Saudi Arabia claims the Gulf kingdom has had “a tremendous influence on the spread of the Islamist ideology”, but fears that the West is turning a blind eye.

“That Saudi Arabia has had a tremendous influence on the spread of the Islamist ideology is quite clear,” said Carl Schiotz Wibye, speaking to the Norwegian daily newspaper Aftenposten. “But apparently very few want to talk about it.”

In a new book, Kingdom of Terror, the diplomat claims that the Saudi state religion “is not even a religion, but a cult built on fanatical fantasies of a power-hungry desert preacher in the 1700s”.

The preacher in question is Muhammad Ibn Abd al-Wahab, founder of the Wahhabi branch of Salafi Islam. Salafism calls on Muslims to emulate the first three generations of believers, known as the salaf, who rode with Mohammed and conquered Jerusalem, Persia, and Spain.

Wibye alleges the Saudis have used their oil wealth to fund the spread of Wahhabism worldwide and argues that Norway must tackle it head on.

He suggests that one method of checking extremism might be to revive a Progress Party proposal to ban regimes which do not subscribe to the United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights from funding religious and political institutions.

“To block the influence of Wahhabism, we must provide an overview of this ideology and weed out local influence wherever it comes from, be it through financial support, literature or videos by preachers who say terrible things online,” he said.

“In addition, we require that all imams should speak Norwegian, so we can better understand what is happening in the Muslim community in Norway.”

Wibye would not speculate on whether Saudi Arabia also funds Islamic State, as former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton alleged in a leaked 2014 email, saying that the theocracy’s “transactions are hidden”.

He also called for a ban on full-face veils in Norway. “The niqab is not part of Islam,” he claimed. “It is an interpretation that emerged in recent years … to keep women in their place.”

  25. The tipping point – Quebec author and columnist Denise Bombardier ‘flabbergasted’ and ‘stunned’ by Premier Couillard shouting ‘Allah Akbar,’ the war cry of jihadists, at the funerals of three Muslim men in Quebec City

On February 4, 2017, in its report on the funerals of three Muslim men killed at a Quebec City mosque, Montreal’s Le Devoir indicated that Quebec Premier, Philippe Couillard, shouted ‘Allah Akbar’ (‘God is great’ in Arabic) during the ceremony. He added that “These words are wrongly associated with violence.”

The same day, TVA, the main private TV network in Quebec, reported on its website that, a few hours earlier, when a man wielding a machete rushed toward a military unit protecting the Louvres Museum in Paris, he shouted ‘Allah Akbar.’

In the past, several reports on terrorist attacks have indicated that jihadists shouted the same cry to clearly let the world know about their motivations. “During the Charlie Hebdo attack, terrorists shouted ‘Allah Akbar’! We avenged the Prophet,” was the Figaro’s headline after the attack. The CBC reported that Xristos Katsiroubas, from London (Ontario), and his accomplices shouted ‘Allah Akbar’ when they attacked a gas plant in Algeria in 2013. In Nice, the terrorist who mowed pedestrians with his truck shouted ‘Allah Akbar.’ The CBC reported that a witness of Michael Zehaf-Bibeau’s attack on the Canadian Parliament in 2014 told police that he thought he heard him yell ‘Allahu Akbar.’ Farah Shirdon left Calgary to join the Islamic State. In a propaganda video in which he relays ISIS’ threats to attack the U.S., Shirdon is accompanied by a group of jihadists. While he is tearing his Canadian passport into pieces, burning it, and stamping on it, those who are with him are shouting ‘Allah Akbar,’ etc.

Invited to comment on current news in her weekly appearance on the Maurais Live show broadcast by CHOI Radio X in Quebec City, author and columnist Denise Bombardier recalled that ‘Allah Akbar’ “is the expression being shouted by all those involved in [terrorist] attacks. It’s the expression that identifies them. It’s their signature.” She added that she was ‘flabbergasted’ and ‘stunned’ to hear Philippe Couillard use an expression with such a deep resonance. The portion of Denise Bombardier’s intervention dedicated to Premier Couillard’s ‘Allah Akbar’ cry starts at 12:10 in the audio. In French.

In 2013, an official Saudi newspaper reported Philippe Couillard’s endorsement of the Saudi king. Richard Martineau commented on the issue. In 2011, while Philippe Couillard was a member of the Security Intelligence Review Committee supervising CSIS’ activities, the National Post reported that he was being paid to advise the Saudi government.

  26. Germany: Installation commemorating refugees who died at sea sparks protest in Dresden

An installation in Dresden commemorating refugees who died trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea was met by a small counter-demonstration, Friday.

The installation, which simulates a cemetery using pictures as graves, was inaugurated on Friday by the Mayor of Dresden, Dirk Hilbert.

SOT, Heiko Muller, Commemoration to the deaths of the Dresden bombing organiser (German): “I would like to honour the German victims as well. We only have a memorial stone in a freedom cemetery, it is anonymous. I would gladly like that at the Altmark, where 6,000 people died, that there would be a memorial. Not only for the Syrian victims, but we would also like our people here.”

SOT, Heiko Muller, Commemoration to the deaths of the Dresden bombing organiser (German): “This is the same as with the buses, it is a provocation for Germans and above all for people from Dresden. Because the 13th of February belongs to us. We don’t need to take the guilt of other countries. They can do it on any other day but not on the 13th.”

  27. EU foreign affairs chief Federica Mogherini asks US not to ‘interfere’ in European politics

Diplomat speaks on her first visit to America since Trump entered office

Top EU diplomat Federica Mogherini has asked the US not to “interfere” in European politics.

Ms Mogherini made the remarks on the second day of a two-day visit to Washington, her first since Donald Trump became President.

“We do not interfere in US politics […] And Europeans expect that America does not interfere in European politics,” AFP quoted Ms Mogherini saying.

Her remarks follow the US President’s repeated praise of Brexit, calling it a “great thing” and saying the UK was “smart” for voting to leave the EU.

In January, then-US ambassador to the EU Anthony Gardner said Mr Trump was supporting the fragmentation of Europe by backing Brexit — an outcome he said would not be in America’s best interests.

During Ms Mogherini’s visit, she also said meetings with the Trump administration had given her confidence that the US was committed to following through with the Iran nuclear deal.

“I was reassured by what I heard in the meetings on the intention to stick to the full implementation of the agreement,” Ms Mogherini told reporters a day after talks at the White House and State Department.

She said the new administration made clear it had not decided on a new American ambassador to the EU, and had also not decided on a way forward on stalled US-European trade talks.

At the start of a series of meetings with top officials, the EU’s foreign affairs boss said she hoped to find “common ground” with the Trump administration.

reuters – EU’s Mogherini: U.S. says will fully implement Iran nuclear deal

The European Union’s foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini, said on Friday she was reassured during meetings with President Donald Trump’s administration that the United States was committed to full implementation of the Iran nuclear deal.

Mogherini said her main intention in coming to Washington was to discuss the accord, negotiated by Iran, the United States and other world powers in 2015, which granted Iran sanctions relief in return for curbs on its nuclear program.

Mogherini said it was important that the deal remains an international agreement. Her visit suggests concern from other countries, including Russia and China, that the Trump administration could withdraw from the deal.

“I was reassured by what I heard in the meetings on the intention to stick to the full implementation of the agreement,” Mogherini told reporters a day after talks at the White House and State Department.

She said the Trump administration made clear it had not decided on a new American ambassador to the EU, and had also not decided on a way forward on stalled U.S.-European trade talks.

All 28 members of the EU would have to consent to the US choice for ambassador, under a long-standing tradition.

Mogherini said she also discussed Russia in her meetings with members of the Trump administration, and they agreed that Russia should abide by the terms of the 2015 agreement negotiated by Ukraine, Russia, Germany and France in Minsk, Belarus, to end fighting in eastern Ukraine.

U.S. officials have repeatedly accused Russia of violating the agreement. Russian officials accuse Ukraine of violating the deal.

“We agreed on the need to have full implementation of the Minsk agreement and that sanctions are linked to the full implementation of the agreement,” Mogherini said.

Republicans and Democrats in Congress as well as U.S. allies have expressed concern that Trump will be too conciliatory towards Moscow, including by granting Russia relief from sanctions imposed under the Obama administration which target its energy, defense, and finance industries.

Mogherini said she met with National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, and Trump’s advisor and son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

  28. zero hedge – Trump Says New Action on Immigration Coming: “You’ll Be Seeing Something Next Week”

[…] President Trump, in a joint press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, just hinted that a new executive order could be coming next week.

[…]”We’ll be doing something very rapidly having to do with additional security for our country; you’ll be seeing that sometime next week,” Trump said with Abe by his side. He offered no specifics.

[…]”We are going to keep our country safe,” he said on Friday. “We are going to do whatever’s necessary to keep our country safe.” He added he would continue to fight for the travel ban in courts, and that “ultimately, I have no doubt we will win that particular case.”

  29. Hungary: Orban considers option of detaining migrants in state of nation speech

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban opened the question of detaining migrants while their cases are pending, in his annual state of the nation speech, in Budapest, Friday.

SOT, Viktor Orban, Hungarian Prime Minister (Hungarian): “We have to face migration this year as well. Despite illegal migration being an unlovable problem and a terror threat, despite us seeing the bloody reality and horrifying facts, migrants can move freely across Europe until their case will be judged. The question of 2017 will be: should we detain them and hold them until their cases are judged.”

SOT, Viktor Orban, Hungarian Prime Minister (Hungarian): “And in 2017 we have to face the increasing activity of international organisations. In 2017 in more and more countries, in Hungary as well – moreover the election is coming in 18′ – there will be a problem that secretly and with foreign money they want to influence the national politics. I think we convince often enough that we are able to decide about our own fate. So the question is do we let the foreign attempt of influence be a success. We don’t talk about civil organisations who want to help with important initiatives. We talk about international organisation’s paid activists, and their offices in Hungary. Do we something in favour of transparency? We have to know that they are “large carnivores”. It is George Soros’ empire; with a lot of money and “international heavy artillery”. But it is enough to let the activists of George Soros take the hundreds of thousands of migrants in Europe. They are working against the Hungarian Government.”

SOT, Viktor Orban, Hungarian Prime Minister (Hungarian): “Brussels wants more and more economic rights from the countries. They call it: social pillars. There was an example when Brussels tried to stop the tax cuts of Hungary. The question is that do we want to hold the tax-politics in a national orbit? Is it possible to decide freely about the tax of nations?”

“Large-bodied predators are swimming here in the waters. This is the trans-border empire of George Soros, with tons of money and international heavy artillery,” said Orban, who received a Soros-funded scholarship as Hungary was transitioning from communism to democracy in the late 1980s.

“AN ILLEGAL migrant safe house was busted by police in Hungary as they crackdown and round-up people smugglers.

As the popular western Balkans route into Europe was systematically dismantled by national governments, thousands of migrants have been forced to find alternative routes or have been left stranded on the continent.

In response to their well-oiled operation being disrupted, smugglers are now stashing migrants in safe houses as they try and circumvent authorities to carry on their lucrative trade.

In the operation earlier this month, the authorities focussed their efforts on organised crime networks spiriting migrants into the EU and Schengen area.

    • BREITBART – Migrants Entering Hungary to Be Detained in Shipping Containers on Border

Every migrant entering Hungary, as well as those already in existing facilities, will now be housed in shipping containers on the border while their asylum requests are settled.

“People’s freedom of movement will be removed, they will be able to stay only in a place designated for them,” Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s chief of staff, János Lázár, told AFP.

“This place will be the state border, where containers suitable for accommodating 200-300 people will be erected. Migrants will have to wait there for a legally binding decision on their claims”, he added.

He explained that a total of 586 migrants in open and closed camps elsewhere in the country will gradually be transferred to the new sites, and they will be able to take part in court proceedings via telecommunications equipment that will be provided in the camps.

During the height of the migrant crisis, many passed through numerous safe countries ignoring the Dublin accord and requests to stay put as their cases were assessed as they wished to travel to the wealthy welfare economies of northern Europe.

The Hungarian Helsinki Committee, a Budapest-based migrants rights group, are already vowing to sue Hungary at the European Court of Justice in every case where migrants were “illegally” kept in custody.

“Automatic detention of all asylum seekers from the start until the end of the asylum procedure is a flagrant and clear breach of EU law and human rights standards,” a spokesman told AFP.

“In addition, the indefinite detention of many vulnerable migrants, including families with small children, is cruel and inhuman,” they added.

The shipping container development follows the news, announced Wednesday, that any migrant detained anywhere in Hungary without proper documents will be sent back across the border.

“We need a legal system that protects us. This is a very serious change,” Mr. Lázár told AP earlier this week as he announced the tough new measures.

“We expect debates with the European Commission and other organizations”, he added, predicting resistance and opposition from European Union officials.

For some time in Hungary, any migrants detained within five miles of the border has been sent back across the new fences on the country’s southern borders with Serbia and Croatia.

snippets of an article, link at the bottom for whole article.
In 2017, the Muslim month of Ramadan will begin the evening of Friday, May 26, and will end the evening of Sunday, June 25. Allah in the Qu’ran gives commands to Muslim believers around the world, as we read here:

“…And eat and drink until the white thread of dawn becomes distinct to you from the black thread of night. Then complete the fast until the sunset. And do not have relations with them as long as you are staying for worship in the mosques. These are the limits [set by] Allah , so do not approach them. Thus does Allah make clear His ordinances to the people that they may become righteous.” Qu’ran 2:187

As you can see in the above verse from the Qu’ran, Allah is commanding his followers to eat when it is dark, and fast while it is light. This command is for all Muslims wherever they reside anywhere on the Earth. And it immediately brings up a problem that Allah didn’t seem to be aware of: the Midnight Sun.

What Is the Midnight Sun or Polar Day?

Allah’s command on fasting would kill large portions of Muslims living in the Arctic Circle

  32. Right-wing surge: Populists gain in Sweden and Czech Republic as Le Pen extends lead (express, Feb 10, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/765628/Far-right-populists-gain-Sweden-Czech-Republic-Le-Pen-lead

“FAR-RIGHT parties in Sweden and the Czech Republic experienced a poll bounce this week as French populist leader Marine Le Pen extended her lead ahead of the country’s presidential election.

Nationalist in the Czech Republic recorded a record level of popularity according to one survey, whilst eurosceptics in Italy continued to battle for top spot.

A slew of polls released this week provided little evidence that the populist revolution gripping Europe is losing momentum, with establishment parties like Angela Merkel’s CDU continuing to struggle.

They come as the European Parliament proposed diverting more funds from the EU budget towards “tackling populism”, saying the trend towards nationalism is threatening to rip the bloc apart.

In the Czech Republic, which is locked in a battle with Brussels over its migration quota policy, the far-right Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD) scored a record high.

The party polled eight per cent in a survey released by Medea, making it the fourth largest in the country but still a long way behind the pro-Brussels ANO, which leads on 28 per cent.

Elsewhere, in Sweden the nationalist Swedish Democrats party showed some signs of recovery from a recent poll slump, climbing to 17 per cent support in a Sifo survey.

The party is the third largest in the country, which will hold elections in 2018, although it is still polling well below its highest figure of 25 per cent in November last year

In the same survey the Centre Party, a pro-refugee liberal movement, surged to 12 per cent despite the country’s issues with migration, representing its highest popularity share since 1982.

The latest polls from Italy showed the eurosceptic Five Star Movement still tying neck-and-neck with the ruling socialists on 30 per cent each as the country gears up for the possibility of a snap election.

And Marine Le Pen, the Front National leader, extended her lead as the country’s most popular single candidate to five points according to an Ifop survey released yesterday.

The populist leader, a shock candidate for the French presidency, recorded 26 per cent of support from voters compared to 21 per cent for centrist Emmanuel Macron and just 18 per cent for scandal-hit conservative Francois Fillon.

Her campaign has gained momentum by appealing to the French public’s concerns about immigration and the perceived threat to French culture, loss of sovereignty to the EU and by linking unemployment to globalisation..

However, polls have consistently shown that whilst Ms Le Pen is expected to win the first round of the French election she is likely to be comprehensively defeated in the final vote.”

  33. ‘Acid’ thrown at four people in series of attacks during broad daylight (express, Feb 10, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/765868/Acid-attacks-Canterbury-four-people-hurt-daylight

“FOUR people have been hurt and one person has been arrested following two separate ‘acid’ attacks in Canterbury City Centre.

Emergency services have said that four people were attacked by the lethal chemical in two different location in Canterbury at around 4pm.

Kent Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy from London on suspicion of assault.

Three people have been taken to hospital following the vicious attacks, but their injuries are not believed to be serious.

Rich Airey, from South East Coast Ambulance service (SECAmb), said: “A call came in just after 4pm to St Peter’s Place.

“We responded to a report of assault and a number of vehicles are at the scene and it is ongoing.”

The authorities are carrying out a search near to the River Stour after a cordon was set up.

Kent Highways says the road is closed in both directions between St Dunstans and Rheims Way because of “a police incident”.

Buses are being diverted around the roadblock.

Kent Police spokesman, James Walker, have said that all of the people involved in the fight invoving acid were known to each other.

The police have also said that during the fight a substance was sprayed at a group of people in the Rheims Way and St Peter’s Place area.

Traffic is building up in the area due to the road closures.

Today’s incident comes after a similar one yesterday, on Thursday at around 10:30pm when a man in his 20s was approached by another man who sprayed a clear, noxious locked into his face from a container.

When the victim was suffering, the man stole some cash and his watch.

Acid attacks have increased in the UK as criminals are turning to corrosive substances as a cheaper alternative to guns and knives.”

  34. Haven’t they learnt a thing? Merkel’s government ‘hoping to bring in 12 MILLION migrants’ (express, Feb 10, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/765919/Angela-Merkel-Germany-European-Migrant-Crisis-12-million

“ANGELA Merkel may just have pushed through rapid deportation rules as well as a ban on refugees but she is not planning on closing Germany’s doors to migrants forever.

Just last week the under-fire German Chancellor placed a ban on the families of as many as three million people who arrived in Germany during the migrant crisis joining their relatives.

The ban, which also applies to women and children and elderly relatives from war torn countries, has been put in place for two years after the country revealed the crisis will cost £37bn this year.

Now just days after the Bundestag voted to speed up deportation and mandatory finger printing, it’s emerged they have outlined the country needs 300,000 people a YEAR for the next 40 years to stop population decline.

A leaked report from Mrs Merkel’s government said Germany would need to take in 12m migrants over the next four decades to keep Germany’s population size stable.

But the staggering figures unearthed by the Rheinische Post are only set to infuriate far-right voters who are already reeling after almost 2.2 million migrants flooded into the country in 2015 alone.

According to local reports a new report drafted by the Government has admitted the issue of migrant integration is a thorny subject.

The report on refugee integration states: “According to the experiences this will not be easy and will last longer than initially often hoped.

“Successes will only be visible in the medium to long term.”

Locally, Mrs Merkel’s government is coming under pressure after it was deemed that 345,000 new homes have to be built each year to house those travelling to the country to live.

However the cost of living is rising in Germany with rents apparently becoming unsustainable.

Now, despite facing a tough battle with former EU president Martin Schulz ahead of September’s national election, the Chancellor is remains resolute.

Last week she travelled to Stuttgart to pick up an award for her migrant crisis which has mostly been condemned not only in her own country but in Italy, Greece and Malta.

And she said she intends to continue on her path appearing to ignore the fact that Germany has been plagued with terror since 2015.

During her award speech, Mrs Merkel said: “Europe is our best assurance to live in peace and security.

“It should be possible for us to revive Europe.

“For today’s generation, the generation would have to invest as much energy as it has invested in post-war generation to build Europe”.

But her acceptance of the award was not welcomed by everyone.

Hans-Ulrich Rülke, head of the Free Democratic Party (FDP), told newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine: “It is already a lot of ignorance to consider the course of Chancellor Merkel in 2015 as correct.

“With the uncontrolled admission of hundreds of thousands of people from safe third countries, the Federal Government ignored European law and made it difficult to resolve the refugee crisis on a European scale.””

  35. Last night I attended a lecture by Georgetown Islamic Studies professor Jonathan Brown at the International Institute of Islamic Thought in Herndon, Virginia. I’d never met Brown and don’t know really much about him other than a brother was amused he scheduled a recent lecture during the Super Bowl.
Not knowing what to expect from Brown I was shocked when he basically went into a 90 minute defense of slavery which included an explicit endorsement of non-consensual sex.
While the lecture was supposed to be about slavery in Islam Brown spent the majority of the lecture talking about slavery in the United States, the United Kingdom and China. When discussing slavery in these societies Brown painted slavery as brutal and violent (which it certainly was). When the conversation would briefly flip to historic slavery in the Arab and Turkish would slavery was described by Brown in glowing terms. Indeed, according to Brown, slaves in the Muslim World lived a pretty good life.

  36. Germany hit by MORE swimming pool sex attacks: Seven schoolgirls ‘assaulted by migrants’ (express, Feb 10, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/765852/seven-schoolgirls-sexually-assaulted-migrants-swimming-pool-germany

“SEVEN schoolgirls in two separate incidents have been sexually assaulted in German swimming pools allegedly by asylum seekers.

In the first incident in Bad Oldesloe, in the northern German state of Schleswig-Holstein, two men aged 23 and 24 allegedly assaulted five underage girls after grabbing them in the water and sexually assaulting them.

The terrified girls raised the alarm with lifeguards, who had not observed what was happening, who threw them out and then called the police.

Officers confirmed later that they had managed to arrest the two who were identified as asylum seekers living in nearby refugee accommodation.

The officers said an investigation was currently underway on sexual assault charges.

In the second incident, which happened in the Aquapark in the city of Oberhausen in North Rhine-Westphalia, two girls aged 13 and 15 were allegedly sexually assaulted in a swimming pool by two men aged 20 and 22 from Afghanistan.

Both of the alleged attackers had already caused trouble before and had been banned from the building.

The ban was apparently because the pair had put on diving glasses and been swimming underwater so that they could put their hands on the private parts of female swimmers…”

  37. Veteran BBC journalist asks Geert Wilders ‘ARE YOU A FASCIST?’ in Newsnight interview (express, Feb 10, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/765897/Veteran-BBC-journalist-Geert-Wilders-fascist-newsnight

“GEERT WILDERS has defended his political beliefs after a veteran BBC journalist asked if he was a fascist.

The far-right populist has previously come under fire for his anti-Islamic views.

He has vowed to stop the “Islamisation” of the Netherlands if he is elected as the country’s prime minister next month.

As his poll ratings surge, Mr Wilders’ views were put under the spotlight by the BBC’s John Sweeney.

In an episode of Newsnight, due to air on Friday evening, Mr Sweeney asks: “Some people say you’re a bit of a fascist though?”

Mr Wilders, who is also a fierce critic of the European Union, hit back insisting it was “totally untrue”.

“I’m working within the democracy, the Dutch democracy. I’m in favour of the rule of law and the civil society and everything I do will be voted upon,” he said.

“I have only things against fascism. As a matter of fact, I believe the Islamisation of our free societies are as a matter of a fact to be compared with the past, where other totalitarian ideologies were dominant.”

The Party for Freedom (PVV) leader maintained he believed his strong views against Islam should be seen as fighting against fascist regimes.

“In parts of the world, communism, fascism and Islamism or Islam is, when it comes to the comparison, very close,” he continued.

“So I want to stay free fascism, Islamofascism, communism and I want to restore freedom in Holland.”…”

  38. Italy to Speed up Migrant Asylum Decisions, Deportations (abcnews, Feb 10, 2017)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/italy-speed-migrant-asylum-decisions-deportations-45409239

“The Italian government on Friday approved measures aimed at streamlining the decision process for asylum requests — as well as speeding up the deportations of those whose asylum bids have been denied.

The developments came amid criticism from opposition leaders over the presence of tens of thousands of migrants rescued at sea off Italy in the past few years…”

  39. DAILY MAIL – Two Afghans are arrested after ‘trapping two girls in a swimming pool water-chute so they could sexually abuse them’ in latest alleged migrant sex attack

The two men, aged 20 and 22, are described as migrants from Afghanistan
Two girls, aged 13 and 15, were attacked at a pool in Oberausen, Germany
One man stopped in the slide, the other followed the girls down, trapping them
It is the latest in a swathe of similar crimes reported in German pools last year

Two Afghans have been arrested after allegedly trapping two girls in a swimming pool water-chute and sexually abusing them.

One of the men had allegedly stopped himself halfway down so that he could grab the two girls and his friend then followed behind them so that they could pin their victims between them to carry out the sex attacks.

The assault of two girls aged 13 and 15 involving two men aged 20 and 22 happened in the Aquapark in the city of Oberhausen, in North Rhine-Westphalia.

It is the latest suspected sex attack by migrants in Germany after last year’s string of similar incidents

Both of the alleged attackers had already caused trouble at the pool and had been banned from the building.

The ban was said to have been because the pair, from Afghanistan, had put on diving goggles and been swimming underwater so that they could put their hands on the private parts of female swimmers.

At that time the management had decided not to press charges against them.

Allowed to re-enter, the victims raised the alarm with the lifeguards, saying they had been stopped when they were using the giant slide and had been held so that they could be assaulted.

Police spokesman Tom Litges said: ‘The girls travelled down the chute but were stopped halfway down by the first attacker, and were unable to go any further when suddenly the second attacker then came up behind them and the two men put their hands on the girls’ breasts and bottoms.

‘They said that the two men had been taking it in turns to assault each of them.’

Police were called by the lifeguards and the two were arrested while still in the swimming pool.

AquaPark spokesman Alexander Hoefer said: ‘We will not tolerate anything like this in our swimming pools, and we are filing a criminal complaint against the two men.’

After problems last year the management had apparently installed 46 cameras in the swimming pool and car park, and the footage is now being studied following the girls allegations and the arrest of the two men.

Meanwhile, two asylum seekers have been charged with molesting five girls between the ages of 12 to 14 at a second German swimming pool.

A local police report from the Ratzeburg force states the suspects were two ‘southern-looking’ men who molested them under the water.

The men are 23 and 34 years old and are said to be asylum seekers living in Bad Oldesloe in the northern state of Schleswig-Holstein.

The incident was reported to the lifeguards, according to the report, who kicked them out of the pool before calling the police.

It is not the first problem at swimming pools in the area.

Last year, a secret police document was leaked in Duesseldorf voicing the ‘grave concern’ of police chiefs about soaring sex crimes carried out by refugees at public swimming baths.

A month later, the professional swimming association in Germany wanted to reduce escalating sex attacks by refugees at public baths by training migrants to become pool lifeguards.

The Federal Association of German Swimming Professionals (BDS) said in July it would be ‘an inclusive measure that would benefit everyone’.

There were several reports of rape and other sex attacks committed against women and children at public pools both in Germany and neighbouring Austria last year.

Many municipalities, including Munich, displayed charts in numerous languages aiming to teach migrants to respect women and children at the local pool.

Across the border in Austria, the problem is also present.

In October, an Iraqi refugee who raped a 10-year-old boy at a swimming pool has had his conviction overturned because a court didn’t prove he realised the boy was saying no.

The rapist, identified as Amir A, 20, violently sexually assaulted the boy in the changing room of Theresienbad pool in Austria claiming it was a ‘sexual emergency’ because he had not had sex for four months.

But an appeal court in the country accepted the defence lawyer’s claim that the lower court had not done enough to prove he knew the schoolboy was saying no and overturned the conviction.
