    Oh, the hypocrisy…
In 2005 Barack Obama told reporters,
“We simply cannot allow for people to pour in, undocumented and unchecked.”
But today the Democrats are losing their minds over President Trump’s suspension of refugees from seven terror states – the same states the Obama administration was targeting.

The hypocrisy of the left knows no bounds.

    http://www.france24.com/en/20170202-usa-trump-says-putting-iran-notice-after-missile-test

“U.S. President Donald Trump took an aggressive posture toward Iran on Wednesday for test-firing a ballistic missile, with his national security adviser declaring “we are officially putting Iran on notice” for what he called a provocation.

The warning from Michael Flynn marked an abrupt change in policy and tone toward Iran from that of Trump’s predecessor, Democrat Barack Obama, who had negotiated a 2015 nuclear deal with Tehran.

It was Trump’s sharpest threat against a U.S adversary since taking office on Jan. 20, a warning that could foreshadow more aggressive economic and diplomatic measures against Iran.

Flynn told reporters that, instead of being thankful to the United States for the nuclear deal, “Iran is now feeling emboldened. As of today, we are officially putting Iran on notice.”

Iran confirmed on Wednesday it had tested a new missile but said it did not breach a nuclear accord reached with world powers or a U.N. Security Council resolution that endorsed the pact…”

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-02-02/facebook-microsoft-said-to-circulate-immigration-open-letter

“U.S. companies including Facebook Inc., Microsoft Corp., Google, Apple Inc. and Amazon.com Inc. are circulating an open letter to President Donald Trump expressing concern about his recent order on immigration and offering help fixing it and other policies, according to people familiar with the plan.

Other companies involved include firms in finance, manufacturing, energy and consumer goods sectors. It’s not clear yet which companies will agree to sign on. The goal is to publish the open letter this week, said one of the people, who asked not to be identified because the discussions are private. Changes are still being made to the document, and it’s possible it may not be released.

“We share your goal of ensuring that our immigration system meets today’s security needs and keeps our country safe,” said a draft of the letter obtained by Bloomberg News. “We are concerned, however, that your recent Executive Order will affect many visa holders who work hard here in the United States and contribute to our country’s success.”…”

  4. Turkey, Greece in fresh rift over Aegean islets after 21 years (hurriyetdailynews, Feb 1, 2017)

“Turkey and Greece have become embroiled in a fresh rift over the Kardak islets in the Aegean Sea, which are claimed by both countries, and which almost led the two sides to war 21 years ago.

Tensions in the Aegean are the highest they have been in years, with Turkish Chief of Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar and his top brass visiting the area near Kardak with a naval war ship on Jan. 29, prompting condemnation from the Greek side. Coast guard vessels of the two countries have also come head to head around the islets.

The islets, Imia in Greek and Kardak in Turkish, are two small uninhabited rocks in the Aegean Sea, situated between the Greek island chain of the Dodecanese and the southwestern mainland coast of Turkey. Greece and Turkey nearly went to war over the islets in 1996 in an escalation that resulted in each side landing soldiers on one islet.

Greek Defense Minister Panos Kammenos visited the air space over the Kardak islets, located about one nautical mile from Turkey’s tourism resort of Bodrum, on Feb. 1 to leave a wreath in the Aegean Sea in memory of three Greek soldiers who died in a helicopter accident during the 1996 crisis between the two countries over sovereignty of the islets.

Kammenos’ visit came three days after Akar, accompanied by the commanders of Turkey’s land, naval and air forces, on Jan. 29 paid a visit with two assault boats to the islets, the Turkish Armed Forces announced on the same day.

This move prompted a reaction from Athens, with Greek President Prokopios Pavlopoulos on Jan. 30 describing the visit as a “serious violation” that he hoped would not be repeated.

On Jan. 31, two Greek Coast Guard vessels passed the Kardak islets and entered Turkish territorial waters, after which Turkish Coast Guard vessels intervened and forced the Greek vessels to leave Turkish waters, Do?an News Agency reported. Tension was high for around 45 minutes around 11.00 a.m. (08:00 a.m. GMT), when all this took place.”

“A ruling Justice and Development (AKP) deputy has warned Greece over a fresh rift over the Kardak islets, saying Turkey would shoot at the country if they “played any games.”

“I am warning Greece: You were saved owing to a cowardly [Turkish] admiral in 1996. Do not play the Kardak game with us. We will shoot you!” Hüseyin Kocab?y?k, the party’s ?zmir deputy, tweeted on Feb. 1. Kocab?y?k was referring to a previous escalation between the two countries 21 years ago over the small Aegean islets.

The AKP deputy also claimed that the naval commander of the time disobeyed the instruction of then-Prime Minister Tansu Çiller to sink Greek ships.

“The Greek impertinence in the Aegean is continuing because the political order was not followed on that day. However, the Greeks should know that Turkey is not the country as it was in 1996,” Kocab?y?k added.

“President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an has likened last year’s bloody coup attempt to the forced closure of the Ottoman Parliament (Meclis-i Mebusan) by occupying forces in the aftermath of World War I.

“The closure of the Ottoman Parliament and the bombing of the Parliament by [the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization] FETÖ are the same things. The aim is the same. There is no difference there. Both of them aimed to prepare the way for the occupation of the country by dismantling these institutions, which are representatives of the national will,” Erdo?an said Feb. 1….”

    http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-extremists-program-exclusiv-idUSKBN15G5VO

“The Trump administration wants to revamp and rename a U.S. government program designed to counter all violent ideologies so that it focuses solely on Islamist extremism, five people briefed on the matter told Reuters.

The program, “Countering Violent Extremism,” or CVE, would be changed to “Countering Islamic Extremism” or “Countering Radical Islamic Extremism,” the sources said, and would no longer target groups such as white supremacists who have also carried out bombings and shootings in the United States.

Such a change would reflect Trump’s election campaign rhetoric and criticism of former President Barack Obama for being weak in the fight against Islamic State and for refusing to use the phrase “radical Islam” in describing it. Islamic State has claimed responsibility for attacks on civilians in several countries….”

    http://www.khaama.com/sigars-afghanistan-report-to-trump-admin-offers-bleak-progress-statistics-02781

“The United States Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction John Sopko has offered bleak progress statistics about Afghanistan in his latest report to President Donald Trump administration.

Sopko released the 269-page report days after the formation of the new US administration.
The report states that the Afghan government barely controls half of the country while the Afghan security forces numbers are on the reduction.

Sopko further adds in his report that the drug production is on the rise, expressing concerns regarding the eradication which is lower.

However, he points towards a noticeable reduction in corruption, specifically during the procurement of the goods and services.

The formation of the national procurement commission is one of the major initiatives of the government of national unity as President Ghani has stepped up efforts to counter the growing corruption in the country.

Sopko in his report said ‘reconstruction remains tenuous and incomplete’ after 15 years and billions of dollars of investment.

Pointing towards the growing instability in the country, Sopko said “The Afghan security forces need continued donor support, plus mentoring and limited tactical support from the U.S. military, to block insurgent advances.”

Widespread reports regarding the loss of hundreds of millions of US taxpayers’ dollars waste, corruption and mismanagement by both Afghan and U.S. contractors led to the establishment of the SIGAR in 2008.”

“HATE crimes against Jews in Britain soared to record levels last year, a shocking report reveals today.

There were 1,309 reported incidents of anti-Semitic crimes in 2016 – up 36 per cent on the previous year.

In London alone, there were 813 – a rise of 65 per cent over 2015.

Jewish leaders fear the numbers are set to increase still further…”

    • “Likely factors cited by the CST include high profile allegations of anti-Semitism in the Labour Party, a perceived increase in racism and xenophobia following the EU referendum, and regular, high-profile discussion hate crime in mainstream media, politics and on social media during the year.

Ministers have pledged £13.4 million to protecting Jewish sites and has improved the way police record hate crimes in a bid to expose the real scale of the menace.

According to the Crime Survey of England and Wales only 40 per cent of hate crimes are reported.”

    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/762053/donald-trump-mexico-president-enrique-pena-nieto-bad-hombres-border-wall-immigration

“DONALD Trump told his Mexican counterpart to stop the “bad hombres down there” or he may send the US military to intervene.

In a hostile phone call between the two leaders, Trump told president Enrique Pena Nieto the Mexican military needs to do more to control criminals who could be a risk to the US.

The call had been designed to patch up relations after a difficult start between the two leaders but leaked transcripts of the conversation suggest Trump maintained the blunt and direct approach he is renowned for.

AP reports that Trump told Pena Nieto: “You have a bunch of bad hombres down there.

“You aren’t doing enough to stop them. I think your military is scared.

“Our military isn’t, so I just might send them down to take care of it.”…”

  12. Turkey orders 177 police detained, extending post-coup crackdown: Anadolu

ANKARA (Reuters) – Turkish authorities ordered the detention of 177 police officers, the state-run Anadolu agency said on Thursday, widening a crackdown against people accused of links to a failed coup in July.

The suspects, from 25 provinces, were being sought on suspicion of using ByLock, an encrypted smartphone messaging app, the agency said, citing the Ankara prosecutor’s office.

The government has accused the network of cleric Fethullah Gulen of orchestrating the coup, and says it made use of ByLock in the attempt.

Gulen, who has lived in self-imposed exile in Pennsylvania since 1999, has denied the charge and condemned the coup.

In the post-coup crackdown, Turkey has jailed some 40,000 people pending trial and has suspended or dismissed more than 125,000 from the military, judiciary and public services.

  13. Trump’s defense chief: U.S. stands with Seoul to face N.Korea threat

SEOUL (Reuters) – U.S. President Donald Trump’s defenses secretary told South Korea on Thursday the two allies would stand “shoulder-to-shoulder” to face the threat from North Korea, in a message of reassurance after Trump questioned aspects of the alliance in his campaign.

Jim Mattis’ two-day visit comes amid concern that the North may be readying to test a new ballistic missile, in what could be an early challenge for Trump’s administration.

Mattis, in his first trip abroad as Pentagon chief, vowed to strengthen ties in talks with South Korean Prime Minister and acting President Hwang Kyo-ahn.

“Right now we have to address the reality of the threat that your country and my country faces and we intend to be shoulder-to-shoulder with you as we face this together,” Mattis said at talks with Hwang in Seoul.

Hwang, who is serving as acting president after President Park Geun-hye was impeached over a corruption scandal, called for increasing pressure on Pyongyang, including by strengthening sanctions and pressing forward with a strong, united defenses.

“South Korea and the United States must try to extract a change in North Korea’s strategic calculus by deterring the North’s aggression,” Hwang said in a statement.

  14. National Security Adviser Michael Flynn: ‘We are officially putting Iran on notice’
    By J.E. Dyer February 1, 2017

The Wednesday White House press briefing didn’t go quite as expected today. During the briefing, being conducted by Sean Spicer, National Security Adviser Mike Flynn walked out to the lectern and gave a short statement on the provocations mounted by Iran in the last week. Video of the statement is below.

Flynn summarized the Iranian provocations — the test launch of a ballistic missile, the attack by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels on a Saudi frigate in the Red Sea — and tied them to the context of equally provocative actions in the preceding six months. At the outset, he highlighted that the missile launch violates UNSCR 2231, from 2015, which implemented the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on international supervision of Iran’s nuclear program and relief of sanctions.

Without adding specifics, Flynn concluded with this ominous announcement: “We are officially putting Iran on notice.”

    Whereupon he walked out.

I think we can say this was a very Trump-like scripted demonstration. Going forward, everything will depend on what it means — “We are officially putting Iran on notice.” So, a few observations.

    1. It’s obvious what it probably means. The specific reference in the statement to UNSCR 2231 invokes the vow of restored sanctions on Iran, which the Obama administration insisted was a matter of a simple “snapback.”

International sanctions would not be restored as easily as that. But the U.S. sanctions th

  16. A Vatican-Democratic Party Alliance? (Catholics Ask Trump Administration to Investigate)

    Dear President Trump:

The campaign slogan “Make America Great Again,” resonated with millions of common Americans and your tenacity in pushing back against many of the most harmful recent trends has been most inspiring. We all look forward to seeing a continued reversal of the collectivist trends of recent decades.

Reversing recent collectivist trends will, by necessity, require a reversal of many of the actions taken by the previous administration. Among those actions we believe that there is one that remains cloaked in secrecy. Specifically, we have reason to believe that a Vatican “regime change” was engineered by the Obama administration.

We were alarmed to discover that, during the third year of the first term of the Obama administration your previous opponent, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and other government officials with whom she associated proposed a Catholic “revolution” in which the final demise of what was left of the Catholic Church in America would be realized.[1] Approximately a year after this e-mail discussion, which was never intended to be made public, we find that Pope Benedict XVI abdicated under highly unusual circumstances and was replaced by a pope whose apparent mission is to provide a spiritual component to the radical ideological agenda of the international left. [2] The Pontificate of Pope Francis has subsequently called into question its own legitimacy on a multitude of occasions. [3]

During the 2016 presidential campaign we were astonished to witness Pope Francis actively campaigning against your proposed policies concerning the securing of our borders, and even going so far as to suggest that you are not a Christian [4]. We appreciated your prompt and pointed response to this disgraceful accusation [5].

We remain puzzled by the behavior of this ideologically charged Pope, whose mission seems to be one of advancing secular agendas of the left rather than guiding the Catholic Church in Her sacred mission. It is simply not the proper role of a Pope to be involved in politics to the point that he is considered to be the leader of the international left.

While we share your stated goal for America, we believe that the path to “greatness” is for America to be “good” again, to paraphrase de Tocqueville. We understand that good character cannot be forced on people, but the opportunity to live our lives as good Catholics has been made increasingly difficult by what appears to be a collusion between a hostile United States government and a pope who seems to hold as much ill will towards followers of perennial Catholic teachings as he seems to hold toward yourself.

With all of this in mind, and wishing the best for our country as well as for Catholics worldwide, we believe it to be the responsibility of loyal and informed United States Catholics to petition you to authorize an investigation into the following questions:

    – To what end was the National Security Agency monitoring the conclave that elected Pope Francis? [6]

    – What other covert operations were carried out by US government operatives concerning the resignation of Pope Benedict or the conclave that elected Pope Francis?

    – Did US government operatives have contact with the “Cardinal Danneels Mafia”? [7]

    – International monetary transactions with the Vatican were suspended during the last few days prior to the resignation of Pope Benedict. Were any U.S. Government agencies involved in this? [8]

    – Why were international monetary transactions resumed on February 12, 2013, the day after Benedict XVI announced his resignation? Was this pure coincidence? [9]

    – What actions, if any, were actually taken by John Podesta, Hillary Clinton, and others tied to the Obama administration who were involved in the discussion proposing the fomenting of a “Catholic Spring”?

    – What was the purpose and nature of the secret meeting between Vice President Joseph Biden and Pope Benedict XVI at the Vatican on or about June 3, 2011?

    – What roles were played by George Soros and other international financiers who may be currently residing in United States territory? [10]

We believe that the very existence of these unanswered questions provides sufficient evidence to warrant this request for an investigation.

Should such an investigation reveal that the U.S. government interfered inappropriately into the affairs of the Catholic Church, we further request the release of the results so that Catholics may request appropriate action from those elements of our hierarchy who remain loyal to the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Please understand that we are not requesting an investigation into the Catholic Church; we are simply asking for an investigation into recent activities of the U.S. Government, of which you are now the chief executive.

Thank you again, and be assured of our most sincere prayers.

  17. Deutsche Welle –Germany: Erdogan’s informants

The Turkish intelligence service MIT has allegedly built up an extensive spy network in Germany with thousands of informants. Their job is to monitor perceived opponents of Erdogan’s government.

    • Erdogan tells off Merkel for using phrase ‘Islamist terrorism

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday rebuked German Chancellor Angela Merkel for using the expression “Islamist terrorism”, saying the phrase was not correct and saddened Muslims.

Speaking after a critical bilateral meeting with Erdogan, Merkel spoke of the need for Turkey and Germany to cooperate even further to fight against terror, including “Islamist terrorism” and Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militants.

“We spoke in detail about… the questions of the fight against Islamist terrorism, against every form of terrorism, also the terrorism of the PKK,” she said alongside Erdogan at his palace in Ankara.

“We agree we want to cooperate, we are all affected by this. We agreed to have closer cooperation in the future,” she said.

Erdogan, sitting next to Merkel, was stony-faced as she spoke.

Many Muslims oppose any equating of Islam and terror, arguing those who commit crimes purportedly in the name of Islam have nothing to do with a religion that espouses peace.

“This expression ‘Islamist terror’ seriously saddens us Muslims,” Erdogan replied, glancing sternly at the German chancellor.

“Such an expression is not correct because Islam and terror cannot be associated. The meaning of Islam is peace.”

He said it would be “saddening” if the term was used because of the crimes of the so-called Islamic State (IS) extremist group, which has been blamed for a string of attacks in Turkey over the last year.

“Please let’s not use it. As long as it is used we need to stand against it. As a Muslim president personally I cannot accept that,” he said.

The president’s comments came after the two leaders tackled a series of hugely sensitive issues during the one day visit to Ankara by the German chancellor at a time of rising tensions between Ankara and Berlin.

His response delighted the pro-government press, with the Yeni Safak daily headlining on its website: “President Erdogan’s warning to Merkel”.

The phrase is controversial and previous US president Barack Obama refused to use the phrase “Islamic terrorism”, saying such crimes distorted and perverted Islam.

But new President Donald Trump has not shied away from using the term, speaking of “radical Islamic terror” during the election campaign and condemning Obama for not using the term.

    • Turkey: We have to respect court’s extradition decision – Merkel

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Germany was “just as committed to the fight against terrorism” and “all legal violations” as the Turkish government, while Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called for the phrase “Islamist terror” to be pulled from use, during a joint press conference in Ankara, Thursday.

Merkel explained that court orders would not allow extradition under certain conditions and that the Federal Government will respect the independent review by the courts.

The Turkish president then explained how the misuse of language and the adoption of inaccurate terminology can cause pain, even if it is not intended. He said, “The expression of Islamist Terror makes Muslims sick to the heart”.

SOT, Angela Merkel, German Chancellor (German): “We are just as committed to the fight against terrorism and against all legal violations as the Turkish government also expected, each country does that, we do that in Germany as well. However, we can only proceed when we have knowledge about it, and such knowledge will be then assessed by the courts. In Germany, we have a few court decisions which do not make extradition possible in certain conditions. We have talked about that today, and our justice minister will discuss it further here, but what the court confirms, that is a result of an independent inquiry, and we have and will respect that. And I have pointed out that, which is important to me, that at the moment we do not have wrong developments, for example when the question is about Imams who work on the Ditib (Die Turkisch-Islamische Anstalt fur Religion) in Germany. There must not be the impression that there are spies, but rather that the German constitutional state goes after violations of the law. Turkey can trust on it, and it belongs to the valued form of democracy.”

¤SOT, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkish President (Turkish): “I want to underline something here because my people could have understood it wrongly. The Islamist Terror, I have explained it to the chancellor. The expression of Islamist Terror makes Muslims sick to the heart. That kind of expression cannot be used, it is not correct either. Because Islam and terror cannot come together – the verbal meaning of Islam is peace. Therefore if we put an expression which means peace together with terror, that makes the believers of that religion sad. I mean, if we use the expression ‘Islamist terror’ because of DAESH terror, that would be sad. Please let us not use it. Because as long as it is used we have to stand against it. If we remain silent that means to accept it. I personally as a Muslim, a Muslim President, I cannot accept it. There is a second country fighting against DAESH like us in the world. Everybody is talking, but we will keep our determination.”

    • Australia’s Unwanted Asylum Seekers (Mostly Iranians) to Be Resettled in the US

      Dec 05 2016

The Obama administration is going to resettle in the United States an unspecified number of asylum seekers from Australia’s offshore detention centers on the small island nation of Nauru and on Manus Island, part of Papua New Guinea. Australian officials hope to close both detention centers and resettle most (if not all) detainees before President Obama leaves office.

Negotiations between the two governments have been ongoing for months but the deal was announced just last month, a few days after the U.S. presidential election. Homeland Security officials have already made the trip to Australia to interview detainees. Over 1,600 of them could be resettled into the U.S. by January 20, 2017.

[…]A total of 1,639 unwanted Australian asylum seekers could end up being admitted to the United States as refugees. Most are “Muslims from the Middle East, Africa and Asia” according to the Associated Press. A recent report released by the Australian government gives more insight:

[T]he vast majority of asylum seekers at both Processing Centres [Nauru and Manus Island in Papua New Guinea] come from Iran. The PNG Processing Centre (which only accommodates males) is also largely composed of asylum seekers from the Middle East including countries such as Afghanistan, Iraq, and Pakistan. In contrast, the Nauru Processing Centre (which accommodates males, females and children) is also largely composed of asylum seekers from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and with people who have no country of nationality (Stateless)

  19. UK – Rotherham – Shouts of ‘Allahu Akbar’ erupt in court as Rotherham men JAILED for child sex abuse

A WOMAN who was sexually exploited by a number of men in Rotherham from the age of 11 and made pregnant when she was 12 has watched as five of her abusers were given jail sentences of up to 20 years.

Six men were given sentences between 10 years and 20 years – and totalling more than 80 years – by a judge who heard details of how two young girls were groomed and sexually abused in the South Yorkshire town between 1999 and 2001.

Judge Sarah Wright described how one of the girls was plied with alcohol and drugs and was having sex with a number of men from the age of 11.

The victim, in a statement read to the court, said: “There’s evil and truly evil people in the world. I feel my child was the product of pure evil.”

Judge Wright paid tribute to the woman, who was sitting just a few feet away from her in the packed courtroom.

The judge said: “As a result of what happened to her, her childhood and adolescence was taken from her.

“She remarkably transformed her life from thereon, putting her own child first.

“Hers is a tale of the most astonishing dedication and bravery.”

There were emotional and chaotic scenes at Sheffield Crown Court after two of the defendants shouted “Allahu Akbar” as they were led from the dock.

As their supporters began shouting down into the court, one of the victims shouted back “justice is served” as police moved into the public gallery.

Brothers Basharat Dad, 32, of Eldon Road, Rotherham; Nasar Dad, 36, of Cranworth Road, Rotherham, and Tayab Dad, 34, of St Lawrence Road, Tinsley, Sheffield, were jailed on Tuesday for sex offences along with Matloob Hussain, 41, of Doncaster Road, Rotherham; Mohammed Sadiq, 40, of Oxley Grove, Rotherham, and Amjad Ali, of Broad Lane, Worksop, Nottinghamshire.

Basharat Dad was jailed for 20 years, Nasar Dad was given 14 years and six months, Tayab Dad was given 10 years, Hussain was given 13 years, Sadiq was given 13 years and Ali was given 11 years.

Judge Wright said in court on Thursday that she had “no hesitation” in finding that the girl could not remember because she was heavily under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

In the impact statement read to the court, the woman said: “I was drawn into a world of fear, rape and horrific abuse. I lost my childhood at the hands of those men.”

She described how she was shunned by many in her community who called her worse things than “dirty, cheap slag”.

She said: “No-one understood. No-one wanted to understand.

“I felt lost, isolated, trapped, ashamed and completely worthless.

“I was completely owned by these dirty old men who would do with me whatever then wanted, whenever they wanted.”

The sentencing marks the end of a series of three major trials after the Jay Report on child sexual exploitation (CSE) in Rotherham.

Professor Alexis Jay’s report, in 2014, provoked a wave of shock when she described how more than 1,400 children had been groomed, trafficked and raped in the town over a 16-year period.

The three trials – based around two families and their associates – have resulted in 18 people being jailed for sentences totalling more than 280 years.

The investigation that resulted in Thursday’s sentences, called Operation Thunder, is the last into CSE in Rotherham to be led by police.

The National Crime Agency (NCA) has taken over all historic Rotherham CSE investigations with a team of more than 100 working on over a dozen inquiries.

Last year, the NCA said it had engaged with 133 victims and survivors but investigators were confident that Prof Jay was right when she said in her report that the total was around 1,400.

The agency said it was looking at hundreds of potential suspects.

Speaking outside court on Thursday, Detective Chief Inspector Martin Tate, from South Yorkshire Police, said: “This is our third significant inquiry into child sexual exploitation in Rotherham and, with the lengthy jail terms handed down to these individuals today, we have now put 18 criminals behind bars for over 280 years.

“Following the successes achieved, we will now continue to move forward using the learning and best practice we have acquired over the last few years, through work done with our brave victims, their families and partnership agencies, to apply this practice to future investigations.

“I’d encourage any victims and survivors out there who are yet to come forward to please get in touch or tell someone you trust. Officers and specialist support agencies are here to listen, to investigate and to bring perpetrators of this heinous crime before the courts.”

Mark Langan from the Crown Prosecution Service said: “These men were found guilty of a catalogue of vile sex offences against two young girls.

“The girls were targeted by these men because they were naive and vulnerable. They were given alcohol and cannabis and intimidated into performing sexual acts.

“On one occasion one of the young girls was locked alone in a flat for hours without food, water or electricity.

“These young girls were subjected to the most appalling abuse at the hands of these men.”

Basharat Dad was found guilty of six counts of rape, five of indecent assault and one of false imprisonment.

Nasar Dad was found guilty of one count of rape, inciting indecency with a child and false imprisonment.

Tayab Dad was found guilty of rape.

Matloob Hussain and Mohammed Sadiq were found guilty of sexual intercourse with a girl under 13.

All five were found guilty by a jury at Sheffield Crown Court last month.

Amjad Ali pleaded guilty last year to sexual intercourse with a girl under 13.

    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/kosovo-eu-nato-warn-serbia-escalation-45220810

“Kosovo’s president has called on the European Union and NATO to warn Serbia against inciting a new conflict in Kosovo and the region.

President Hashim Thaci’s request followed a Brussels meeting on Wednesday with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic and the prime ministers of the two countries convened by EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini.

In a statement Thursday, Thaci accused Belgrade of inciting inter-ethnic hatred in northern Kosovo. Tensions started to build there in December when ethnic Serbs erected a wall at a bridge, saying it was to prevent landslides. The barrier was seen as a provocation by the ethnic Albanian majority.

On Thursday, police said some 200 ethnic Serbs in northern Mitrovica, a Serb minority area, gathered allegedly after reports of increased presence of Kosovo police there. Police said security was “generally stable.”

“I again invite Serbia to leave aside such practices that do not serve the process of reconciliation and normalization of our relations between Kosovo and Serbia,” said Thaci.

Mogherini has urged the countries to normalize ties “both to preserve peace and advance towards the European Union.”…”

  23. Is Trump planning EVEN STRICTER migrant ban? ‘Leaked documents’ hint at secret new policy (express, Feb 2, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/762104/donald-trump-migrant-ban-immigration-protests

“DONALD Trump has ignored protests over his so-called ‘Muslim ban’ and is now planning an even stricter executive order on immigration, according to alleged leaked documents.

The executive order drafts claim many “alien” families become a “burden on taxpayers” and recommended deporting such migrants and preventing others from entering.

According to two documents obtained by the Washington Post and seen by Express.co.uk, the new president is planning a huge immigration control shake-up.

One document said: “Our country’s immigration laws are designed to protect American taxpayers and promote immigrant self-sufficiency.

“Yet households headed by aliens (legal and illegal) are much more likely than households headed by native-born citizens to use means-tested public benefits.”

The memo advised Mr Trump to strengthen the country’s immigration laws in order to “protect our tax payers”.

The document concluded: “The immigration laws must ensure the United States does not welcome individuals who are likely to become or have become a burden on taxpayers.”

The documents also called for the country’s immigration system to become “more merit based”.

It said more must be done to reduce the “jobs magnet” of illegal unemployment, which is said had a “devastating impact on the wages and jobs of American workers, especially low-skilled, teenage, and African American and Hispanic workers”.

Finally, it called for a crackdown on “birth tourism” – in which migrants travel to America to have a baby, which gains US citizenship.

A critic said the documents, which have not been confirmed by the White House but have been circulated among officials according to the Washington Post, appear to show a president “hellbent” on inflicting “disruption and chaos”….”

    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/762284/Geert-Wilders-party-for-freedom-netherlands-muslims-sharia-law

“THE LEADER of a Dutch nationalist party has vowed to clamp down on Muslims who “commit serious crimes” and “act according to Sharia law”.

Geert Wilders, the founder and leader of the Party for Freedom (PVV), praised Donald Trump for his travel ban from seven Muslim countries before slamming the European Union’s open borders.

But speaking on Sky News’ All Out Politics, the politician insisted law-abiding Muslims already in the Netherlands would not be affected if his party was to come into power following the Dutch elections in March.

“We don’t want to kick any Muslims out – Muslims who are in the Netherlands today and adhere to our constitution, our laws and our values are welcome to stay and are equal as anybody else,” he said.

“But if they commit serious crimes, if they start acting according to Sharia law and if they’re punished and sentenced for that and have a double nationality, which lots of them in the Netherlands do, then indeed we want them to be stripped of their dutch nationality and sent away.

“The Government of the Netherlands is doing exactly the same today when it comes to people who commit terroristic crimes and we want to expand that to other crimes.”

The vow to take a hardline stance on Muslims who commit crime comes after he hailed President Trump for “fulfilling promises”….”

The raid was scheduled for a night with no moon to make the multi-mile ground raid into the village a total surprise. Locals knew long before the troops got there, however, saying there were more US surveillance drones than usual and they were flying lower than would be normal long before the attack. The SEALs knew their mission was compromised but went in anyway.

  27. Netherlands: Wilders praises Trump’s Executive Orders banning Muslims

Leader of the far-right Dutch Freedom Party (PVV) Geert Wilders praised Donald Trump and his immigration ban at a presentation for Joost Niemoller’s new book ‘Fear’ at The Hague on Thursday.

SOT, Geert Wilders, Leader of Dutch Freedom Party (PVV) (English): “I’m very happily surprised with politicians like Donald J. Trump, you know. It’s a kind of refreshment, a fresh air in a room where the windows have been closed for too long. We have, in Holland, in Europe, in the rest of the Western world, we have especially a lot of politicians who are unable to deal with the mass immigration that we have faced in the last decades and here, there is a politician who does not only keep his promises and fulfills his promises in the election campaign, but has done more to beat the mass immigration in two weeks time than the whole European governments in the whole existence.”

SOT, Geert Wilders, Leader of Dutch Freedom Party (PVV) (English): “I’m sure that if we would have had that kind of policy for instance in the Netherlands and the other countries in Europe, that a lot of turmoil, a lot of terrorism would have been spared and also a lot of innocent people who died because we had open borders without even checking who we let enter into our societies, would not have been killed in all those terroristic attacks. So, it’s a refreshment and I wish and I hope and I’m sure that Europe will have such leaders itself as well.”

SOT, Geert Wilders, Leader of Dutch Freedom Party (PVV) (English): “This book consists of talks that Joost had with I believe 61 people at random from all different parts of society, high and low educated, from the countryside as from the cities, homo and heterosexuals and he found that they had one thing in common and that is that they were very angered and felt that and still feel misrepresented by the political elite, that the problems they are facing, also lots of times because of the result of this mass immigration and the cultural relativism – the biggest disease that we have faced in the last decades in Europe and in the Netherlands – those people really are angry and I think that we have a positive message for them. Not only read this book to understand them – all politicians should read this book – but certainly we can learn that if we represent the people, if we take these problems when it comes to crime, immigration, Islamisation, when we take that problem seriously, that people feel represented and people can strengthen the democracy instead of weakening it.”
