  1. Danish council set to BAN gender-segregated swimming as integration demands grow (express, Feb 1, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/761660/Danish-council-ban-gender-segregated-swimming-integration-demands

“A DANISH council is expected to ban gender-segregated swimming at a council run pool because it is harmful to the integration process.

Politicians in Aarhus, Denmark’s second-largest city, have moved to end closed swimming sessions at the Gellerup pool, which are mostly attended by women with non-Danish ethnic backgrounds.

The offer for segregated swimming at council run pool was introduced almost 10 years ago, however, the Left Party in the city has now proposed to end the practice.

In the proposal, they said: “Children and adults must learn that is natural to swim together regardless of religious beliefs.

“Therefore it is a disservice and not an integration measure when special measures are created.”

The Left Party’s proposal is said to have majority support ahead of the council meeting on Wednesday, where it will be decided if the ban should be implemented.

The Institute for Human Rights hit out against the proposal, insisting it was a problematic measure which could make it more difficult for ethnic minority women to engage in society.

Equality chief Maria Ventegodt Liisberg told TV2: “When you eliminate the opportunity [for segregated swimming], it is more difficult for ethnic minority women to use the swimming pool and participate in community life. I believe this is problematic.”

  2. Angela Merkel leads EU REBELLION against Trump’s travel ban with WARNING to President (express, Feb 1, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/761614/Angela-Merkel-EU-Donald-Trump-travel-ban-Stefan-Lofven

“ANGELA Merkel has lashed out at Donald Trump’s travel ban as she leads a European Union (EU) rebellion against the US President’s controversial policy.

The German Chancellor has given a thinly veiled threat of legal action against the new President of the United States, revealing she is “striving for legal clarity”.

She cosied up to Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven with the pair lambasting the President Trump for his policy to ban refugees from seven Muslim countries from entering America.

Angela Merkel, whose ill-fated refugee policy saw 1.1million migrants enter Germany, and led to the Chancellor toughening her stance on refugees in a bid to cling on to leadership, said: “I have made it clear once again that the fight against terrorism does not justify a general advance against certain countries and people with a certain belief.”

Mr Lofven echoed the criticism, saying: “I value Angela Merkel, her leadership and friendship. We share fundamental values, and Germany plays a major role in the growth of the EU and the world.”

“It is no secret that we now face major challenges. It is deeply regrettable that the USA has suspended all travel from citizens of seven countries. That’s anything but good.

“The EU plays an important role for values and human rights.”

He added: “We need a more harmonised legislation and for all countries in the EU to share the responsibility of taking in refugees.”

  3. ‘Xenophobic and ILLEGAL’ MEPs slam Trump and OWN boss Juncker over migration controls (express, Feb 1, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/761632/European-Union-EU-MEPs-Trump-Muslim-ban-Juncker-migrant-refugee-crisis

“PRO-IMMIGRATION MEPs have blasted new US president Donald Trump and EU chief Jean-Claude Juncker over border controls, branding America’s controversial Muslim ban “xenophobic and illegal”.

Brussels politicians launched a savage attack on the Republican’s decision to temporarily halt immigration from seven Muslim majority countries as relations between the EU and America plunge into the deep freeze.

And they were scarcely less scathing about their own bloc’s attempts to bring immigration under control, saying eurocrats should not sign deals with countries like Turkey to keep out economic migrants.

Enraged MEPs made the explosive remarks in a dynamite resolution passed yesterday by members of the EU Parliament’s foreign affairs committee sitting in Brussels.

In the strongly worded document they said Mr Trump’s policy “fuels anti-immigration and xenophobic discourses” and “seriously undermines current global efforts towards a fair international sharing of responsibilities for refugees”.

They also argued that the ban, which affects people travelling from seven Middle Eastern and African countries, may “not be in accordance with international law” and urged EU leaders to stand up to the president.

Mr Trump’s executive order – which has been dubbed a ‘Muslim ban’ by many – prevents nationals from Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, Yemen and Iraq from visiting the US for at least three months.

The under-fire president has insisted it is to protect America from terror attacks, although critics have pointed out no such atrocities have been committed on US soil by people arriving from those seven countries.

Reading out a statement agreed by the committee, Spanish MEP Elena Valenciano said: “The committee expresses strong concern about the recent decision by the US administration to temporarily ban citizens of seven Muslim majority countries from entering the country and temporarily suspend the US refugee system.

“It believes that this kind of discriminatory decision fuels anti-immigration and xenophobic discourse, may not be in accordance with international law instruments such as the Geneva Convention and can seriously undermine current global efforts towards a fair international sharing of responsibility for refugees.

“We call on the EU and its member states to show a strong common position in defending the international protection system and the legal security of all affected populations, particularly EU citizens.”

The statement adds to an already heated row raging between the EU and the new US administration, which has taken a highly critical stance towards the Brussels bloc in stark contrast to Barack Obama’s cosy relationship….”

“Yemen has lost a decade’s worth of gains in public health as a result of war and economic crisis, with an estimated 63,000 children dying last year of preventable causes often linked to malnutrition, the U.N. Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said on Tuesday.

About 3.3 million people, including 2.2 million children, across the Arab peninsula’s poorest country are suffering from acute malnutrition, it said.

They include nearly half a million children under the age of five with severe acute malnutrition.

Investigators believe the man had been a recruiter and smuggler for IS since August 2015 and according to Turkish officials, he is also suspected of being involved in a deadly museum attack in his homeland in March 2015.

Authorities in Germany raided 54 flats, business premises and mosques across the city and surrounding region as part of a four-month investigation focused on 16 people aged between 16 and 46.

  10. In a recent attack, some 90 Muslims stormed a Christian church in eastern Uganda, beating and tying up the men present before raping 15 of the Christian women.

The assault was reportedly a “revenge attack” against the pastor of the Katira church for allegedly converting Muslims to Christianity. Along with the violence perpetrated against the congregation, the mob also carried off the pastor, the Rev. Moses Mutasa and severely damaged the church property.

According to a member of the congregation who escaped from the church, one of the attackers shouted, “Away with the pastor who is converting our Muslims to Christianity.” After the attack, church members also found leaflets accusing the pastor of converting Muslims and threatening more attacks.

  11. The European Union member states have the right to reject refugees who support terrorist activities or for those who are identified with a terrorist network even if the asylum seeker has not personally committed any act of terror. The ruling was made Tuesday by the European Court of Justice(ECJ)

The decision of EU’s top court regards Mostafa Lounani’s case which will set a precedent for future asylum seekers with ties to terror groups. Lounani is a Moroccan national who was convicted in Belgium and was sentenced to six years in prison back in 2006. The conviction was for his involvement with the Belgian terror cell of the “Moroccan Islamic Combatant Group.”

Lounani applied for an asylum in 2010 after he claimed that he would be persecuted as a radical Islamist if he would be deported back to Morocco. The asylum application was rejected by Belgium but the Belgium Council for Asylum and Immigration appealed the decision. According to the council, Lounani did not engage in any terrorist act.

  13. globalnews – Quebec City shooting: Is Islamophobia ‘more manifested’ in Quebec?

[…]Barbara Perry, a professor at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology who tracks right-wing extremist groups, agrees with Couillard that no society is perfect.

But while Islamophobia and xenophobia are hardly unique to Quebec, she said, it’s also fair to suggest that they have found particularly fertile ground in the province.

“Much of the news that we get, and the research that we did around right-wing extremism, seemed to find that Quebec was quite a hotbed,” Perry said.

A longstanding commitment to preserving Quebec’s Francophone culture and a strongly-held belief in the separation of church and state (and how much religious beliefs should be accommodated) could both play a role, she added.

Quebecers are then subject to the same perceptions, stereotypes and media coverage that affects the rest of Canadians.

The “distinct blend of xenophobia” that has arisen in Quebec is quite similar to that seen in France, said Perry, “and it really does target, much more directly I think, Islam.”

[…]Samer Majzoub, the president of the Canadian Muslim Forum, said Islamophobia is perhaps “more manifested” and “demonstrated” in Quebec than in other regions, but it’s a problem across Canada.

[…]Meanwhile, many Muslim groups in Quebec say they have watched tensions increase for years. Some have argued that endless political debates surrounding identity and religious accommodation, and “trash” talk radio, have contributed to a culture of intolerance.

Beyond this, general public perception of Islam and its adherents remains far from rosy.

A poll conducted late last year by Forum Research showed that nearly half of Quebecers (48 per cent) retain an unfavourable view of the religion, compared to between 18 and 28 per cent in all other regions of Canada.

[…]La Meute (The Wolf Pack), a Quebec-based group that aims to counter what it perceives to be the threat posed by Islamic fundamentalism in the province, fared much better. It counted 43,000 members on its private Facebook page as of December and continues to grow, rapidly becoming the most visible face of the far-right in the region.

[…]Perry said officials should be wary of extremists coming out of the woodwork in the wake of the shooting.

“We have seen incidents before … where there is an emboldening, or (an attack) inspires similar kinds of incidents. So that’s a very strong possibility,” she cautioned.

    • CBC – Language matters: Growing Islamophobia paved the way to Quebec City mosque shooting

‘Language that dehumanized Muslims and demonized Islam’ has become accepted as truth, says Shahina Siddiqui

[…]I could see the writing on the wall long before 9/11. Language that dehumanized Muslims and demonized Islam was creeping into our discourse and political and media lexicon and being accepted uncritically as truth by society at large and the media in particular.

[…]Terror was given a faith identity: Islamic terrorism. This terminology became the mantra of “experts” in media and of right-wing politicians. Islam was touted as the enemy of the West and as being at war with the West.

The terrorists were named jihadis in direct violation of what “jihad” actually means — struggling and striving to do good.

[…]The Islamophobes also targeted Muslim leadership in North America, through character assassination and slander. Scores of websites and so-called Islamic experts and Muslim Islamophobes were unleashed through various media with singular purpose: to demonize Islam.

    • the guardian – ‘Islamophobia killed Canadians’: anti-Muslim rhetoric blamed in Québec attack

Attack in typically peaceful city raises concern amid global turmoil as community leader bemoans politicians acting as ‘pyromaniac firefighters’

Thousands of Canadians from coast to coast have sought to show their support for victims of a shooting spree on a Québec City mosque, as the country struggled to comprehend how one of Canada’s safest cities had become the setting for an attack described by the country’s prime minister as an act of terror.

Just steps away from the mosque, residents braved the bitter cold to leave flowers and handwritten signs of support in nearby snowbanks.

[…]Six men – all fathers – were fatally shot in the back as they prayed. Another 19 people were injured. On Tuesday, two remained in critical condition in hospital.

“It’s horrific. Horrific … in our magnificent city, it’s horrific,” said Régis Labeaume, Québec city’s mayor.

Home to just over 500,000 people, the city saw just one homicide in all of 2016. Now it has become the setting for one of Canada’s worst mass murders in recent years.

[…]Swastikas had been spray-painted on the walls of the mosque and a gift-wrapped pig’s head was left on the doorstep of the mosque during Ramadan, with a note reading “bon appétit”.

Weeks later, neighbours received a pamphlet alleging ties between the mosque and terrorism. “Security at our mosque was our major, major concern,” said Mohamed Labidi, the facility’s vice-president. “But we were caught off-guard.”

[…]“Islamophobia has killed innocent Canadians,” the Canadian Council of Imams said in a statement on Monday. “As we pray for those who have lost their lives, the injured and their loved ones, we ask all decent people to stand against hatred of Islam and Muslims in all forms.”

Some pointed to the political right for helping to create a climate that fostered the escalating hostility towards Muslims. “This mosque attack is no accident,” MP Michael Chong said on Twitter on Monday. “It’s a direct result of demagogues and wannabe demagogues playing to fears and prejudices.”

Sunday’s attack took place amid heightened tensions linked to the travel ban imposed by Donald Trump on seven Muslim-majority countries.

[…]Days earlier, Jean-François Lisée, the newly elected leader of the Parti Québécois, hinted that the party would again focus on religious accommodation, with a series of interviews in which he argued that burqas should be banned in public.

On Monday, Hakim Merdassi, a member of the city’s Tunisian association, drew a direct line between the divisive debate and the bold attack. Addressing a stage full of Québec politicians – including François Legault of the Coalition Avenir party, who has spoken forcefully against burkinis – a visibly shaken Merdassi described the attack as an “opportunity to reject those who enrich themselves through hate”.[…]

    • AFP- Quebec ‘trash radio’ under fire after attack

‘WORDS DO MATTER’:Critics said that popular radio stations such as FM93 and Radio X fuel a divisive climate, stoke fear and promote white supremacy

In the wake of recent carnage at a Quebec City mosque, the Canadian province’s popular conservative talk radio hosts have come under fire for allegedly spreading intolerance and hate.

Critics say the talk shows fuel a divisive climate that allows extreme ideologies to take root and flourish — a claim that has taken on heightened relevance after a gunman with far-right sympathies opened fire on Muslim worshipers, killing six and wounding eight.

While not pointing a finger at any particular person or organization, Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard on Tuesday said that “words do matter.”

Residents of Quebec City tend to vote more conservatively than the rest of the province.

Some say that radio stations like local FM93 and Radio X — which are respectively the region’s second and third-most listened to, with a combined 30 percent market share — simply reflect their audience’s views.

However, others say the shows stoke dangerous beliefs.

“These are right-wing talk radio stations with little substance, but a lot of opinions,” said Stephane Leman-Langlois, a criminologist at Laval University, where the alleged shooter studied.

These “trash radio” stations, as they have become known locally, “contribute to legitimize increasingly adversarial discourse against minorities in general and Muslims in particular,” he said.

They tout “white supremacy, white victimology and repeat over and over that Quebec is in grave danger,” he said.

Station managers did not respond to requests for an interview.

There is no indication that the suspect arrested in connection to the attack at the Quebec City mosque on Sunday listened to these radio stations.

However, his online activities suggest that he supports political leaders like Republican US President Donald Trump and French far-right politician Marine Le Pen.

Muslims in the Canadian province lay the blame for rising Islamophobia squarely at the foot of local right-wing talk radio.

Some stations “have made it their mission to increase distrust and hate of Muslims,” said Mohamed Yangui, head of the Islamic Cultural Center and mosque that was attacked.

“Their comments are often over the top and blundering,” said Leman-Langlois, recalling a one-hour episode last fall in which Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was said to be an agent of the Muslim Brotherhood determined to Islamize Canada.

“There is really an examination of conscience to do on the part of these radio stations,” he said.

His words echo media research group Project J, which has called on the stations to take a hard look at themselves and reflect on how they cover communities — “Muslims in particular.”

The organization has highlighted the underrepresentation of visible minorities in Quebec media, for example, compared with the rest of Canada.

Calls have also multiplied to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications agency, which regulates the industry, to take a hard line.

The agency has at times warned radio stations, and some hosts have been sued for defamation, but the stations themselves keep broadcasting.

Since the mosque shooting, these radio stations have said they deplore violence.

However, on Tuesday morning, Radio X’s broadcast quickly degenerated, decrying that the far-right’s political agenda had come under siege from the left.

The host accused “leftists of rejoicing” over the opportunity to use the attack to thrash conservatives’ views.

However, for Mohamed Ali Saidane, who lost a friend to the shooting, some of the radio hosts “have become spokespeople for racism.”

“The general climate remains negative,” he said.

    • VICE NEWS – Inside the Quebec City mosque

The Centre Culturel Islamique de Quebec opens its doors to show “all Canadians what happened” when a gunman opened fire

The shoes of the victims, removed as is custom before entering the prayer area of the mosque, are still on otherwise empty shelves. Shoes of worshippers who fled the scene as a gunman opened fire are strewn all over the floor.

Two days after a deadly attack that left six people dead, the Centre Culturel Islamique de Quebec opened its doors to media to show “all Canadians what happened.”

“We want to show these images to stop the contribution to the hate, to stop the contribution to the Islamophobia,” said Mohamed Labidi, former president of the mosque.

In a silent video posted online Tuesday night, mosque leaders took viewers on a tour of the empty building, where graphic evidence of the massacre still gives it the appearance of a fresh crime scene.

[…]“The gunman came in by this entry, this is the entrance of the mosque, started shooting two people on the outside at the entrance and then he came in,” Ahmed El Refai, who lost his best friend Azzedine Soufiane in the shooting, told reporters on Wednesday morning, taking them through the scene. “He started shooting, if you look, that’s the bathroom, he started shooting people here and then he entered that opening and started killing people.”

Labidi described to reporters how Soufiane came out from his hiding place behind a column when he saw the attacker trying to recharge his gun and tried to immobilize him.

“But the attacker was more quick and went back and shot him directly in his body,” Labidi said.

“And he fell down here,” he continued, pointing to a spot by a doorway, “as a hero.”

“Without his intervention, we would’ve had more martyrs. Very generous person. I know him very well, and he showed generosity at the end of his life. The last second of his life, he showed the generosity in his heart.”

“In Islam, the fundamental principle is that you cannot kill anyone without justice, without cause, without anything,” Labidi told reporters. “If you do so, you kill everyone in the world, says the Quran. If you save one, you save all the people in the world. This is [what’s told] to us in the Quran.”

“THERESA May today ruled out Britain following other European countries by introducing restrictions on Muslim face veils.

The Prime Minister insisted that “what a woman wears is a woman’s choice” when quizzed about the issue.

Her remarks follow moves in a string of countries including Germany, France, Austria and Belgium to ban the wearing of full-face veils in public.

Mrs May described bans on veils as “divisive” when asked about the moves at Prime Minister’s Questions in the Commons yesterday…”

    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/761791/Austria-tourism-industry-Government-burka-ban

“AUSTRIA’S lucrative tourism industry has hit out at the Government’s planned burka ban over concerns it will damage the country’s image.

Women who wear full-face veils in public places will be fined £128 by police and will be taken to a police station if they refuse to remove the veil, after the law was passed yesterday.

After a Government spokeswoman confirmed the ban would apply for tourists destinations, including the Zell am See ski resort and Vienna, representatives from across the tourist sector spoke out against the ban.

Andrea Steinleiter, who represents hoteliers in Vienna’s Chamber of Commerce, said: “Has anyone considered the impact this ban would have on tourism?”…”

The contractor’s nationality was not released. Three Nigerians and one Cameroonian also were killed in the Tuesday afternoon attack. Several others were wounded.

The U.N. says the group was part of a technical monitoring team carrying out a field mission related to border demarcation.

There are no immediate claims of responsibility, and it is not known which armed group was responsible.

The Nigeria-based Boko Haram Islamic insurgency has spilled across borders into neighboring countries including Cameroon.”

“Serbia on Wednesday introduced a lockdown for migrants in their refugee center outside Belgrade after an alleged attack against a woman walking with her children.

Officials said the migrants staying in the center on the outskirts of the capital will need special permissions to leave and need to be back by 10 p.m. each night.

The measure has been introduced after a woman claimed she was attacked by migrants near the camp while walking with her three children. She said they wanted to take away the stroller with her baby inside.

  19. Slovakia Establishes Police Unit to Fight Terror, Extremism (abcnews, Feb 1, 2017)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/slovakia-establishes-police-unit-fight-terror-extremism-45192689

“Slovakia has established a new police unit to fight terrorism and far-right extremism.

Prime Minister Robert Fico, who introduced the new unit Wednesday, said that he is glad that police can now “react to a new wave of extremism, a new wave of fascism” that has emerged in Europe and which is now beginning to appear “in full force even in Slovakia.”

The unit has more than 100 elite officers and will also investigate the financing of terrorism and extremism.

Fico said that it wasn’t enough to react verbally to those who deny the Holocaust or celebrate the Nazi puppet state Slovakia was during World War II.

He didn’t identify any groups by name, but Slovakia’s neo-Nazi People’s Party Our Slovakia has 14 parliamentary seats and openly admires war-time Slovakia.”

  20. Dubai’s head of security Dhahi Khalfan Tamim has sparked outrage once again, this time after backing US President Donald Trump’s controversial Muslim ban.

In a series of crude and sectarian outburts on Twitter this weekend, Lieutenant General Khalfan – who holds one of the most important positions in Dubai – threw his weight behind Trump’s immigration policy targeting Muslims.

The former police chief and now head of security in the emirate then railed against Iraqis, Yemenis, Somalis and Iranians – nationalities all included in new US travel restrictions.

“We completely support Trump in his ban on entry to those who may cause a breach in America’s security,” the security chief said on Twitter.

    • UAE says Trump travel ban an internal affair, most Muslims unaffected (reuters, Feb 1, 2017)
      http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-immigration-emirates-idUSKBN15G43U?il=0

“The United Arab Emirates’ foreign minister said on Wednesday President Donald Trump’s travel ban on citizens of seven mainly Muslim countries was an internal affair not directed at any faith, a more measure reaction than others from the region.

Trump’s order affecting Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen has triggered protests across the United States and beyond.

But Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed said most Muslims and Muslim countries were not included in the ban and the named states faced “challenges” that they needed to address.

“The United States has taken a decision that is within the American sovereign decision,” Sheikh Abdullah said at a joint news conference with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Abu Dhabi.

“There are attempts to give the impression that this decision is directed against a particular religion, but what proves this talk to be incorrect first is what the U.S. administration itself says … that this decision is not directed at a certain religion.”

The UAE, a major oil exporter, is a close ally of the United States and a member of the U.S.-led coalition fighting Islamist militants in Syria.

Sheikh Abdullah gave a guarded welcome to another Trump initiative, a proposal for humanitarian safe zones in Syria.

“If the aim behind these areas is humanitarian and temporary and under an international umbrella, I think this is a basis we can work on,” he said.

“But I think that it is still early to decide what our final stance toward these zones is before we hear from the new U.S. administration the ideas and develop that further,” he added.”

  21. Indonesia: FPI leader remains defiant as thousands rally outside police HQ

Thousands of protesters gathered outside the Jakarta Police Headquarters once again on Wednesday, to show their support for the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) leader Muhammad Rizieq Shihab, known as Habib Rizieq, who faces questioning over recent comments in which he compared a logo on Indonesia’s new bank note to the communist hammer and sickle symbol.

SOT, Habib Rizieq, Leader of Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) (Indonesian): “Forth we as Muslims cannot accept what Ahok has done to our Indonesian Ulama Leader. Also one very influential person in the Nahdatul Ulama Organisation, Mr. Maaruf Amin, who attended Ahok’s trial as a witness expert of religion, was insulted by Ahok and his lawyers. Are you ready to defend the Ulama? Say Allah Akbar! And finally I would like to deliver this message to you all that whatever happens to us and other ulema, whether we are slandered, jailed, or killed, the fight to defend Islam and Indonesia will have to continue. Are you ready to defend Islam, to defend Indonesia and to fight for the truth? Takbeer: Allah Akbar!!”

  22. Italy Pledges €200 Million Fund To Discourage Immigration From African Countries

ROME (AFP) – Italy on Wednesday pledged 200 million euros ($215 million) in funds to several African countries as it seeks to slash the number of migrants risking their lives in the Mediterranean to reach Europe.

Unlike previous European financing pledges, which have aimed to tackle the root causes of migration, the fund seeks to boost efforts by African security forces to stop people from leaving.

The so-called Africa Fund will help bolster the “fight against human trafficking and illegal migration”, Italian Foreign Minister Angelino Alfano said.

The funds will go mainly to Niger, Libya and Tunisia — the three key transit and departure points for the vast majority of African migrants trying to reach Italy’s shores.

They are intended to help train the nations’ security forces and to pay for equipment to monitor the borders.

“We don’t build walls in the Mediterranean — we can’t and don’t want to do that,” Alfano said, in an allusion to US President Donald Trump’s pledge to construct a wall on the Mexican border.

“We give money to these countries, and in return they must use it to reduce the number of illegal migrants arriving here,” Alfano added.

A record 180,000 migrants reached Italy’s shores in 2016, the government says.

In a summit on migration in the Maltese capital Valletta in November 2015, EU leaders agreed with their African counterparts to set up a 1.8-billion-euro fund to help address the root causes of migration.

But it remains unclear how much of those funds have actually been handed over, and what steps, if any, African nations have taken to limit migration flows.

Another meeting in Valletta on Friday, this time an EU leaders’ summit, is also set to discuss migration.

But pressure is growing on the EU to act on what Germany has called “catastrophic” abuses of migrants’ human rights in war-torn Libya, with reports of “concentration camp-like” conditions in smuggler-run camps.

  23. USA: Flynn condemns Iran for houthi resistance and ballistic missile test

US National Security Adviser Michael Flynn argued that Iran’s alleged test-launch of medium-range ballistic missiles violated the UN Security Council’s Resolution 2231, during a White House press conference, in Washington DC, Wednesday.

Flynn described “recent Iranian actions, including a provocative ballistic missile launch” as Tehran’s “destabilising behavior across the Middle East.”

The US national security adviser noted that the Donald Trump administration “condemns such actions” by Iran and “severely [criticises] the various agreements reached between Iran and the Obama administration, as well as the United Nations – as being weak and ineffective.” Flynn went on to claim that “the [Barack] Obama administration failed to respond adequately to Tehran’s malign actions.”

3 Questions to Keep Future Muslim Terrorists Out of America

The Nonimmigrant Visa application form filled out by the 9/11 hijackers asked, “Are you a member or representative of a terrorist organization?” They checked the box that said, ‘No’ and they were in.

The current incarnation of the form asks the same perfunctory and generic question. An actual terrorist is as likely to check the box as he is to finger a rosary while eating a ham sandwich and singing Hava Nagila.

[…]Our biggest problem is that we aren’t asking the right questions. Asking a Muslim if he is a terrorist is the wrong question. Islamic terrorists don’t see themselves as terrorists. They view themselves as devout Muslims. That is how we must see them if we are to find them out and stop them before they strike.

The root cause of Islamic terrorism is the idea that Muslims are superior and non-Muslims are inferior.

[…]Can we really afford to allow Muslim immigrants into the United States who believe that they ought to “fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief: i.e. worshiping others besides Allah) and the religion will all be for Allah”? What better predictor of terror risk could there be than those who believe that they must “kill the non-believers wherever you find them, and capture them and besiege them, and lie in wait for them?” This is the origin of Islamic terrorism. It’s the acid test for every Muslim migrant.

It all comes down to three simple questions.[…]

  25. Belgium: Moroccan man rapes handicapped girl repeatedly. Police start manhunt
    Posted on February 1, 2017 10:30

For a period of two months a 15-year-old girl was raped, multiple times a week, by a man Belgian police describe as: of Moroccan origin, with tanned skin and black hair. He speaks French, Arab and Berber, but no Dutch. He said he was nineteen at the time, but might be older. Belgian police are asking anyone with any information to contact them at telephone number, 0800.30.300 or by emailing opsporingen@police.belgium.eu.

Though the facts date from before December 2015, they have only recently come to light. The Belgian girl, herself from Moroccan descent, and mentally handicapped, attends a school for special needs children. But she became unwilling and very afraid to continue attending. School personnel, over a period of months, interacted with her, piecing together what she had been through. After this was established, the girl and her mother brought the matter to the police.

The police reports the girl started texting with the man to protect her 13-year-old friend from his advances. He used the opportunity to seduce her, and they exchanged sensual pictures and eventually he managed to persuade her to meet up with him. On their second meeting, at the Schijnpoortweg tram stop, he took the girl to a container on a wharf at the nearby Lobroek-docks. She said she didn’t want to, and even cried, but the man ignored this and raped her.

  26. Watch! Farage destroys Verhofstadt during EP debate on migration

The European Parliament today debated on Trump, and more specifically the 90 day travel ban to the US, which he imposed on seven Muslim-majority countries. And let’s not waste too many written words here, because it was a slugfest as usual, between the EP’s two usual suspects: the One man European People’s Army Nigel Farage versus Eurofederal high priest Guy Verhofstadt.

Verhofstadt topped his last month’s meltdowns by going pedal to the metal on Godwins:

  27. Study: 54% of Dutch inner city school teachers think Muslim integration has failed

A new study (PDF) by the Dutch DUO Onderwijsonderzoek was conducted among 2200 elementary and high-school teachers. The theme was the extent to which teachers felt the country’s integration problems affected their work and experiences in the classroom.

    54% of Amsterdam’s, Rotterdam’s, The Hague’s and Utrecht’s high-school teachers say they observe a:

“failed integration and increasing cultural segregation in society.”

62% of these cities’ teachers think this is caused by “the difference between Western and non-Western values”, while 39% ascribes it to the “role of religion”.

On a national average, 39% of high-school teachers subscribe to the observation of failed integration. For elementary school teachers, the national average is 27%.

Of all high-school teachers, a national average of 57% thinks this is caused by “the difference between Western and non-Western values,” while 39% thinks it due to the “role of religion“.

For elementary school teachers, the numbers are even higher: 62% and 43% respectively.

Due to this development, one in nine teachers now states they avoid four sensitive subjects:

  28. Sceptics from Financial world repent, now think Brexit marvelous idea

“It is obvious to us that if Britain was outside the EU, we would be as reliant on the third-country rules as Bolivia,” TheCityUK’s chief executive Chris Cummings said in an interview with The Telegraph 8 March 2016. TheCityUK, self-proclaimed champions of UK-based financial and related professional services, are a membership body, lobbying on the industry’s behalf.

The afore mentioned quote got The Telegraph to name the article “City warns: Brexit could leave UK in same position as Bolivia,” in exactly the kind of excessive hyperbole Cummings would, later in the interview, condemn, actually saying: “it would not be ruinous for the UK to leave, but it would be very different and we would have to work a lot harder to get back to where we are today.”

After Brexit and Trump’s willingness to make a deal, Cummings is apparently seeing things a bit more optimistic. This prompts The Telegraph to claim, in its title, that “City lobby group comes out fighting for global Brexit in dramatic u-turn.” According to Gary Campkin, director of policy and strategy at TheCityUK:

  29. EU President: EU now at war with Trump. (And Russia, China, Radical Islam, Populism)

President of the European Council Donald Tusk has joined Verhofstadt in denouncing the Trump administration in a letter to European heads of state, clearly conveying the ranks of EU bureaucrats are closing. According to Tusk, unity is necessary since:

“Particularly the change in Washington puts the European Union in a difficult situation; with the new administration seeming to put into question the last 70 years of American foreign policy.”

Overnight, this statement seems to put the US on a par with Radical Islam, China and Russia, about which the same letter states:

“The first threat, an external one, is related to the new geopolitical situation in the world and around Europe. An increasingly, let us call it, assertive China, especially on the seas, Russia’s aggressive policy towards Ukraine and its neighbours, wars, terror and anarchy in the Middle East and in Africa, with radical Islam playing a major role, as well as worrying declarations by the new American administration all make our future highly unpredictable.”

What is needed most is “courage, determination and political solidarity of Europeans.” Without it, “we will not survive,” Tusk writes.
