Mexican Model Executed in Front of Her Family in Border State
MONTERREY, Nuevo Leon — Mexican authorities continue to look into the execution of a model who was gunned down in front of her family. The model’s boyfriend had been previously killed and is believed to have been tied to organized crime.
The murder took place during the early hours of Friday morning when a group of gunmen burst into a house in the La Hacienda neighborhood in the suburb of Apodaca. Gunmen held various relatives at bay and shot 23-year-old Karla Karina Garza Garcia in the head. The shooting matches the description of the execution style murder typically associated with organized crime.

Mexico police, troops ‘routinely’ rape arrested women: Amnesty
MEXICO CITY (AFP) –
Mexico’s police and armed forces routinely torture and mistreat women, sometimes using sexual violence during arrest and interrogation, Amnesty International wrote in a damning report released on Tuesday.
The rights group interviewed 100 women who reported violence during arrest, all of whom described having been the victim of some form of sexual harassment or psychological abuse. Seven in ten of the women reported sexual violence during arrest or in the hours that followed.

The types of mistreatment the women were subjected to included blows to the stomach and head, threats of rape directed either at them or their families, near-asphyxiation, electric shocks to the genitals, groping and rape.
“Police appear to be using them as easy targets for arrest to boost figures and show society that the government’s security efforts are yielding results,” said an Amnesty International statement.

With eye on China, Indonesian parliament approves higher defense spending
JAKARTA (Reuters) – Indonesian lawmakers on Tuesday approved higher defense spending this year to fund, among other things, major upgrades to military facilities in the Natuna Islands, whose nearby waters Beijing says are subject to “over-lapping claims”.
Parliament’s approval came just days after President Joko Widodo visited the remote island chain to assert sovereignty over the area, in what Indonesian officials described as the strongest message that has been given to China.
China’s increasingly assertive actions in the South China Sea, which are worrying Southeast Asian countries, are fuelling an increase in security spending in the region.
“(Natuna) needs to be guarded and to do that the military needs to have proper facilities, they need additional funds,” said Johnny Plate, a member of parliament’s budget committee.
Parliament approved an increase to the defense ministry’s budget this year to 108.7 trillion rupiah ($8.25 billion), up nearly 10 percent from the initial 2016 budget.
Some of the new funds will be used to upgrade the airbase and build a new port in the Natuna Islands to allow for more warships and fighter jets to be based there, Defence Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu told reporters.

The blunt truth up front is that the Western left, including the government of the United States, has made it really hard for a jihadi to distinguish himself as a crusader for Allah. That, at least, is the reality of our approved, official reactions to terrorist attacks.
According to the “progressive” left, the big-picture problem is properly defined in the generic as “violent extremism.” It’s as likely to come from so-called “hate crime” sources, like “xenophobia,” “racism,” “homophobia,” and “Islamophobia,” as from Islamic radicalism. It’s all one big, ugly, same-same type of phenomenon.
Yet it still matters which source of “violent extremism” motivates an attack. If something other than Islamic radicalism can conceivably be blamed, Western leaders will seize on that explanation and hammer away at it.

This is a rather interesting unintended consequence of the lefts gun control efforts. The gun control laws of the 1970s and 1980s resulted in an upgrading in the quality and reliability of the firearms that the criminals use. Now their gun control efforts are having the terrorist leaders call for a shift to the use of explosives in the terror attacks so the US government can’t blame guns and take away from the Islamic aspects of the attack. If the terrorist use the explosives properly this is going to increase the number of causalities in the terror attacks.

Muslim woman at LAX threatens to bomb America, then walks unhindered into terminal
This incident was recorded by independent journalist Tony Vera on 14 June, two days after the nightclub attack in Orlando.
Conservative media have sent it viral in the last 24 hours, for obvious reasons. The young woman, wearing a hijab, was briefly detained outside the international terminal at LAX while police conducted a search of her luggage. The reason for the search isn’t explained, but at the very beginning of the video, we see the police talking to the driver of a cab, which it appears the young woman just got out of. It’s possible the driver notified the police that he was concerned about her behavior.
In any case, she is allowed to proceed after the luggage search. Tony Vera, the cameraman, gets her to talk to him as she is heading into the terminal.
The exchange between the woman and Vera starts just after the 7:00 mark.

“The raids mistakenly hit the home of a family, killing seven members,” said the official.

Germany girds for potential spike in Islamic State attacks in Europe
The German government voiced concern on Tuesday that Islamic State could step up attacks in Europe as it loses territory in Iraq and Syria, and said its domestic intelligence agency is training to respond to a large-scale assault.
Interior Minister Thomas De Maiziere welcomed gains made by a U.S.-led coalition against Islamic State (IS) in Iraq and Syria, but said they were not diminishing the risk of attacks in Europe.
“On the contrary, we fear that Islamic State will externalise, transfer its activities to Europe, especially because of military losses in the region,” the minister, a member of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conservative Christian Democratic party, told reporters.
Germany has been on high alert for possible large-scale militant incidents – potentially including military-style weapons – since the IS attacks in Paris last November and Brussels in March, Hans-Georg Maassen, the head of the BfV domestic intelligence agency, told the same news conference.
He said the agency had carried out several exercises to prepare for such events, and several attacks had already been thwarted. Three Syrian men were earlier this month suspected of planning large-scale attacks in Duesseldorf.
Maassen said the agency was also vigilant for potential lone-wolf attacks, self-radicalised individuals, and possible militants smuggled in under the cover of over one million mostly Muslim refugees that have entered Germany over the past year.
He said authorities had identified clear evidence against 17 individuals who had entered Germany disguised as refugees, and most were either dead or had been arrested. “We must keep a particularly close eye on this group of people,” he said.
Authorities were checking tips about a total of 400 potential Islamists among the refugees, but most of those had turned out to be false claims made by other refugees, he said.
De Maiziere said the rate of Islamists leaving Germany to join Islamic State in Iraq and Syria had slowed, but remained troubling. A total of 820 such people were now believed to have departed Germany for the region, up from 780 at the end of December, with about one-third estimated to have returned.
About 60 of those who had tried to reach the region were under the age of 18, and 20 of those that actually succeeded were girls, Maasen said.
At the same time, Germany has seen sharp increases in the number of ultra-conservative Islamists known as Salafists in recent years, with the total number of sympathisers now seen at 8,900, up from 7,000 at the end of 2014, German officials said.
De Maiziere said it was important to reintegrate the so-called “foreign fighters” who returned to Germany, some of whom were highly radicalised, while others were disillusioned.

Sarajevo summit aims to agree on “concrete” steps to counter increasing phenomenon in the West
Dubai: With the participation of some leading political figures, academics, and most of the “active and dynamic” NGOs in Europe and North America, the first European Islamophobia summit opens on Friday in Sarajevo.
The three-day summit aims to discuss ways to put an end to the growing phenomenon of Islamophobia and increasing number of hate crimes.
The goal of Sarajevo summit is “to understand the phenomenon of islamophobia across Europe and North America and then to come up with some concrete proposals on how various governments across Europe and north America can work together to help resolve these issues,” Muddassar Ahmad, Director of the European Islamophobia Summit told Gulf News.
Ahmad, who is also member of the summit advisory panel and Patron of the Faiths Forum for London, hailed the participation of most of the western NGOs that are involved in the topic.
Governments, NGOs
“While governments have a huge role to play, I believe that NGOs have also an equally important role to play… In addition, I think the NGO sector has been leading actually the efforts to work against islamophobia.”
In some European countries, some NGOs are way more effective than governments and very dynamic. We are very lucky to have most of those NGOs working on these issues are represented in our summit,” he added.
Among the participants, former British Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw, Chairman of Bosnia’s Presidency, Bakir Izetbegovic, Founder of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), Bernard Kouchner, and the Grand Mufti of Sarajevo, Hussain Kavazovic amongst others — as well as representatives from across 17 European nations and different faith communities.
Participating societies include the British counter-racism group, ‘Hope Not Hate’, The European Forum of Muslim Women and the Turkish think-tank Seta, along with many researchers and academics.
Major challenge
“Islamophobia represents a major challenge to European democracy, freedoms and its values of tolerance and pluralism,” Academic Advisor to the Summit, Dr. Farid Hafez of Salzburg University was quoted as saying in a press statement.
“Against the backdrop of calls by US Presidential candidate Donald Trump to ban Muslims from entering the USA and Hungary’s Prime Minister and upcoming EU President and Slovak Prime Minister both stating Islam has no place in their countries, the need for a Summit uniting political, academic, media and civil society leaders against Islamophobia is timelier than ever,” Hafez added.
Commenting on the difference of hate crimes and islamophobia in Europe and North America, Ahmad explained to Gulf News: “I think the islamophobia in Europe and northern America are quite similar.
“There are many similarities and some differences. Of Course, they are coming from the same far-right movements,” he added.
But the hate is being funded and coming from the same ideological mind-set, Ahmad said.
While America does not have to cope with the influx of Muslim migrants like Europe recently had with the migrants from Syria, North America has an “indigenous Muslim community,” which is the African Muslim community, he added.
Hate crimes against Muslims in Europe and North America includes verbal attacks, physical attacks, discrimination in employment, and stereotyping in media.
“Islamophobia manifests itself in many many ways,” said Ahmad.
“As an example, when we sent the invitation, one semi-respectable journalist replied by saying islamophobia stops when Muslims stop killing people,” Ahmad added.
Many terrorists groups around the world use Islam’s name in killing people.
Some analysts correlate the rising of terrorists groups, their attacks, and the political and security chaos in many parts of the Middle East.
“I think the lack of solutions to issues in the Middle East is why we have political terrorism, yes. But I do not think this is why we have Islamophobia. And you have to make the distinction between the two,” he said.
No connection
“When you look at a young man in Oxford who has been beaten up because he is a Muslim, that has nothing to do with politics in the Middle East,” Ahmad said.
Earlier, Ahmad was quoted in a press statement about the choice of Sarajevo as the location for the first European Islamophobia Summit is notable.
“Because Bosnia’s history is an example of what can happen when anti-Muslim and racist rhetoric goes unabated. Not far from Sarajevo in Srebrenica, the 21st anniversary of the massacre of 8,000 Muslims will be commemorated just days after the European Islamophobia Summit.”

Why Our Leaders Won’t Name the Enemy
The truth would destroy them.
After the Orlando attack, Obama ranted that it did not matter what we called Islamic terrorism. “What exactly would using this label accomplish? What exactly would it change? Would it make ISIS less committed to trying to kill Americans? Would it bring in more allies? Is there a military strategy that is served by this? The answer is none of the above. Calling a threat by a different name does not make it go away. This is a political distraction.”
The “Islamic terrorists by any other name would smell as sweet” argument is the last resort of the losing side. It dismisses the whole issue as a matter of semantics with no bearing on the real world.
And that’s a neat rhetorical trick for the political side that relentlessly refuses to acknowledge reality.
One of the more shocking moments in Jeffrey Goldberg’s extended Atlantic write-up of Obama’s foreign policy came with his conversation with the Prime Minister of Australia. Obama, who has refused to recognize any connection between Islamic theology and violence, and made the hijab into a civil rights issue, told the Australian leader how he had seen Indonesia turn to “fundamentalist” Islam and noted, unfavorably, the large numbers of women now wearing hijabs as a sign of that fundamentalism.
Obama blamed the Saudis for pushing Wahhabism through imams and madrassas into Indonesia.
It wasn’t an original critique, but also not one that you hear much in Obama’s circles. When Obama reportedly tells world leaders that there will be “no comprehensive solution to Islamist terrorism until Islam reconciles itself to modernity” and undergoes reforms the way that Christianity did, it’s like suddenly having Khrushchev explain why Communism can’t work and will end up falling apart.

One Week After Orlando, Democrats Feature Anti-Gay Imam at Banquet

The Democratic Party used to embrace homosexuals. Now, its Florida leaders are inviting enemies of the gay community to speak at their functions, and only one week following one of the worst episodes of violence against gays in American history. That was the case earlier this month, when anti-gay imam Maulana Shafayat Mohamed was allowed to speak at the Leadership Blue Gala, the annual banquet of the Florida Democratic Party.
On June 19th, the Florida Democratic Party held its annual Leadership Blue Gala event. US Senator from New Jersey, Cory Booker, was the keynote speaker. However, one of the other speakers, Maulana Shafayat Mohamed, who partook in opening prayers, should have been the main concern.
Shafayat Mohamed is the imam of the Darul Uloom mosque, located in Pembroke Pines, Florida. The mosque has been a haven for terror-related individuals, many of whom have been imprisoned – or, in one case, killed in an overseas anti-insurgent raid – due to their jihadist activities.

Turkey airport attack: Explosions and gunfire reported at Ataturk International airport in Istanbul
Two explosions and gunshots have been reported at Ataturk airport in Istanbul, Turkey.
Several people have been wounded in the attack on the capital’s main international airport, according to Turkish news broadcaster NTV.
While reports claim that gunshots were heard in the airport car park, video footage shows people running for cover inside the terminal building.
Witnesses told CNN taxis were ferrying wounded to the hospital.

Theme park chain Six Flags Entertainment Corp. says it is in “discussions” with Saudi Arabia to pursue developing amusement parks in the ultraconservative Sunni kingdom.
The announcement early Wednesday morning by the Grand Prairie, Texas-based company comes after Dubai in the United Arab Emirates announced the day before it would call for an “exception to the destination’s (Persian Gulf) exclusivity clause with (the) American theme park operator.”
Officials in Dubai hope to open a Six Flags theme park by late 2019.
The Six Flags push in Saudi Arabia comes after its officials met with Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the son of King Salman.
Six Flags offered no specifics on the discussions with Saudi Arabia, which strictly separates sexes in public and follows an extremely conservative view of Islam.

“Travellers seeking visa waiver entry to the US may soon be asked to list their social media profiles – if a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) proposal is enacted.
An update to application forms would ask users to identify what social networks they use and their “social media identifier” such as a username.
However, revealing this information would be “optional”.
The changes would affect Esta and Form I-94W applications.
The proposal was added to the Federal Register by Customs and Border Protection (CBP), part of the DHS, last Thursday.
Any data travellers choose to share will be used “for vetting purposes, as well as applicant contact information”, the proposal states.
Public comment – which must be submitted by post – will be sought for 60 days before the CBP considers it further.

“It’s very hard to see travellers not filling out this item – even though it’s optional – as they may fear not getting entry into the country,” commented Joseph Lorenzo Hall, chief technologist at the Centre for Democracy and Technology.

“Democracy in general requires having spaces free from government scrutiny and increasingly social life happens online,” he told the BBC.
“We would have a poor society if people were chilled from participating in social activity online so I really hope they rethink this.”
A spokesman for the Association of British Travel Agents pointed out that the proposal was not guaranteed to go ahead.
“Just as with any change in entry requirements, the DHS will need to balance security issues against the need to encourage people to visit their country,” he added.
Last year, MSNBC published a memo in which it appeared that officials dropped a plan to vet visa – not visa waiver – applicants’ social media activity.
Recently, the United States updated its policy on visa waiver programs regarding visitors who had a second citizenship in Iran, Iraq, Syria and Sudan – or who had visited those countries within the last five years.

“Iranian Revolutionary Guards have reportedly killed 11 Kurdish rebels in a clash close to the border with Iraq.
Three Guards also died in the fighting, Iran’s Fars news agency cited their commander in Kordestan province, Gen Mohammad Hossein Rajabi, as saying.
He said the rebels were linked to the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI) and that the Guards had been tipped off when they crossed from Iraq.
The rebels were pursued for 10 days before they were killed, he added.
The PDKI has been striving for decades for autonomy for predominantly Kurdish areas in north-western Iran.
Kurdish villages ‘shelled’
Gen Rajabi told Fars that the 11-strong group of “counter-revolutionaries” were “eliminated” in the Sarvabad region by Revolutionary Guards.
A PDKI commander called Kaveh Javanmard was among those killed, according to Brig Gen Mohammad Pakpour, the commander of the Guards’ ground forces.
It was not clear whether the 11 dead rebels included the five who the Guards said had been killed in clashes along the Iraqi border late on Saturday.
The PDKI said its fighters had come under attack from Iranian forces near the town of Mahabad, in West Azerbaijan province, on Friday afternoon and near Marivan, in Kordestan, on Saturday morning, Kurdish media reported.
The group also said Iranian forces had shelled several Kurdish border villages.
Gen Pakpour threatened on Sunday to launch cross-border raids on the PDKI.
“Since the main bases of these terrorists are in northern Iraq, if they don’t follow through with commitments to stop these attacks, their bases will be targeted where they are,” he said.
The estimated eight million Kurds in Iran, like other ethnic minorities, do not enjoy equal rights and the government consistently denies their right to use their languages in school, according to the US.
However, President Hassan Rouhani promised to open Kurdish-language centres during a visit to Mahabad on 1 June.
“The mother tongue of ethnic groups, especially of Kurds, should be respected and recognised,” he said.
Mahabad was the capital of a short-lived Kurdish republic that was founded after World War Two and lasted 11 months.”

“Frontex Executive Director Fabrice Leggeri told ANSA on Tuesday that around 300,000 migrants currently in Africa could arrive in Italy from Libya.
“According to our estimates, there are 300,000 migrants who could land in Italy from western Africa via the central Mediterranean route,” Leggeri told ANSA.
The executive director warned that “caution” is necessary in forecasts as “numerous variables” can impact migration flows.
He explained that the estimate is based on the number of migrants transiting through the Agadez region in Niger where some 13,000 people have been monitored in a month.

Authorities are on the scene of what appears to be a house explosion in Mississauga.
Peel Police said they received the call to attend the scene on Hickory Drive in the area of Rathburn Road East and Dixie Road at 4:22 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon following multiple reports of a loud bang being heard and a plume of smoke rising from the street.
It’s thought as many as 6 houses have been destroyed or partially destroyed police have now set up a large perimeter in the area.
Fire and ambulance services are also on scene, with paramedics tweeting that a triage centre has been set up in the area.
It’s been confirmed that there are multiple injuries as a result of the explosion, however the extent of injuries suffered by the victims is not known at this time.
Police are advising people to avoid area.

I really don’t know why some people think that churches are places of sanctuary. Two asylum seekers were forcefully removed by police from Laugarneskirkja church early this morning, after the minister had offered them sanctuary. The bishop of Iceland laments that asylum seekers have no place they can call sanctuary.
Laugarneskirkja church opened its doors after midnight to two Iranian asylum seekers, referring to the old tradition of churches serving as sanctuaries. The asylum seekers have been in Iceland for seven months without their cases having been processed. One of them is only 16 years old.

Nicaragua has expelled six foreign environmental activists after they were detained on allegations of handling explosive substances without authorization, a lawyer and the Mexican government said Tuesday.

Muslim Shop in the UK Was Just Firebombed While People Were Inside
Kashmir Meat & Poultry, a halal butcher shop owned and operated by a Muslim man, was attacked with a “petrol bomb” this Monday evening in the West Midlands in England.
Bashir Hussain, who was managing the store at the time of the attack, luckily escaped with only minor bruising from being struck by the weapon itself, but most of the store itself was destroyed by the flames.
The owner, Jamal Hussain, was dismayed by the attack and still seemed in shock when he spoke with reporters.

Eleven Kurdish rebels and three of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards were killed in clashes near the Iraqi border, the Fars news agency reported on Tuesday.

(CNN)At least 42 people, mostly soldiers and one child, were killed when attackers launched four suicide car bombings at security targets in a major Yemeni city, two senior government officials told CNN.
The attacks occurred in Mukalla, a southeastern port city in Hadramaut province.
At least 30 people were injured — all security officers except for five civilians, according to the two officials, both of whom are in the provincial governor’s office.
One of the attacks targeted a military compound near a government intelligence building. The others targeted military checkpoints. A child walking near one of the checkpoints was killed.

Travellers seeking visa waiver entry to the US may soon be asked to list their social media profiles – if a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) proposal is enacted.
An update to application forms would ask users to identify what social networks they use and their “social media identifier” such as a username.
