  1. Danish family reunification laws illegal, EU rules (thelocal, Apr 12, 2016)
    http://www.thelocal.dk/20160412/danish-family-reunification-rules-illegal-eu-rules

“The EU Court of Justice ruled on Tuesday that Danish immigration law illegally limits the rights of Turkish workers to bring their families to Denmark.

The ruling was on a 2006 case in which Caner Genc, a young Turkish man who was 13 at the time, was denied family reunification on the grounds that he was not suitable for successful integration. His older brother’s were both successfully granted family reunification in 2003 to join their father Yasar Dogu Genc, who has lived and worked in Denmark since 1997.

The EU court in Luxembourg ruled on Tuesday that the young man’s rejection was a violation of the Ankara Agreement.

Danish immigration law limits Turkish residents’ rights to family reunification with their children if their applications are filed more than two years after the parent has been granted permanent residency. The EU court ruled that there is no reason to believe that integration should become more difficult after a two-year period and said that every individual family reunification case should include a concrete evaluation of the child’s ability to integrate.

The EU’s ruling on Denmark’s two-year rule is expected to have a principle effect on how the nation handles all family reunification applications from Turkish residents.

Sener Genc, an older brother of the case’s central figure, said that the Danish Immigration Service (Udlændingestyrelsen – DIS) had “ridiculous” reasons for denying his younger brother family reunification when it had granted the same application to the family’s older siblings.

“We are proof that their argument that he could not make a connection to society was wrong. They said he couldn’t master the Danish language, but if we can then he can too,” Genc, who is now a Danish citizen, told TV2.

After the ruling, Sener Genc told public broadcaster DR that it was “an indescribably wonderful feeling to have it confirmed that one has the right to be with one’s family”….”

  2. Belgian Minister Under Pressure Over EU Security Report (abcnews, Apr 14, 2016)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/belgian-minister-pressure-eu-security-report-38386326

“Belgium’s transport minister is under pressure to resign over a secret European Union report exposing past lapses in oversight of security at airports across the nation.

The restricted EU document of last year was made public by two opposition parties. It said that oversight of security measures at the nation’s airports was flawed and there were some serious deficiencies in the way safety checks were managed.

Phone calls and email to the offices of Transport Minister Jacqueline Galant were not immediately returned.

The revelations came in the wake of the March 22 attacks when 32 people died, including 16 at the national airport.

Parliament has a session late Thursday and opposition parties have promised to grill the minister on the issue.”

  3. German Parties Agree on Opening More Jobs for Migrants (abcnews, Apr 14, 2016)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/serbia-police-arrest-suspected-migrant-smuggling-38385103

“Germany’s governing parties agreed early Thursday on a broad range of measures to help the country integrate those of the 1.1 million migrants who arrived last year who are granted asylum.

The measures, which will be discussed with state governors before they’re presented to Parliament, seek to strike a balance between giving migrants easier access to jobs and integration courses while also increasing expectations of them.

The measures foresee creating thousands of government-funded “job opportunities” for migrants, news agency dpa reported, and the suspension for three years of a rule that asylum-seekers are initially excluded from jobs unless no German or European Union citizen can fill them.

One of the key components to Chancellor Angela Merkel’s attempts so far to deal with the influx of migrants has been to streamline the system so that those fleeing conflict and persecution and likely to receive asylum will receive it faster, whereas so-called “economic” migrants unlikely to receive asylum will be sent home quickly.

In line with that, the jobs being created would not be available to economic migrants, dpa reported.

Merkel, Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel and others plan to present further details of the new measures later Thursday.

According to dpa, other elements include reducing the waiting times for integration courses teaching German, but they’ll be made mandatory for more migrants, including those who already have some basic German language skills.

There will also be less freedom of movement for migrants than in the past, with unspecified “consequences” envisioned for those who move away from areas where they were officially resettled. It was not immediately clear whether that would only apply to migrants as they seek asylum, or also after asylum is granted.”

“…A Turkish news agency says the U.S. led coalition has been targeting Islamic State militants in Syrian villages near the border with Turkey.

The private Dogan news agency says coalition jets on Thursday hit IS positions in the villages of Sawran, Souran, Hawar al-Nahr and Kafra.

The militant IS group and al-Qaida’s Syria branch known as Nusra Front are not part of a U.S.-Russia-brokered cease-fire in Syria…”

  5. The Latest: Austria Poised to Close Italy Border If Overrun (abcnews, Apr 14, 2016)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/latest-german-governing-parties-agree-migrant-plan-38385609

“… Austria’s defense minister says the country is ready to completely close the main border crossing to Italy in case an influx of migrants leads to an “extreme situation.”

State-run broadcaster ORF on Thursday quoted Hans Peter Doskozil as saying such a move at the Brenner crossing would be taken if Italy refused to accept migrants turned back by Austria and they could not proceed to Germany.

Doskozil says Austria has registered between 16,000 and 17,000 applications for asylum since the start of the year. The country has announced a cap of 37,500 applications for 2016 after receiving about 90,000 last year.

He expresses skepticism about the EU-Turkey agreement on migrant returns saying “we don’t know how long the deal will last.”…”

  6. Lebanon abduction: ‘No way’ charges will be dropped (BBC, Apr 14, 2016)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-36034766

“A Lebanese judge says there is “no way” he will drop charges against an Australian TV crew over an alleged child abduction attempt.

Four journalists and the children’s mother were arrested in Beirut last Thursday, along with two British and two Lebanese men.

Sally Faulkner says she had not seen her children in a year after her ex-husband took them on holiday.

Judge Rami Abdullah deferred the case until Monday.

“There was a violation of the Lebanese authority by all these people, it’s a crime,” Judge Abdullah told the media on Wednesday.

Those arrested face kidnapping, assault and association charges, which can carry a sentence of up to 10 years in jail…”

    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/660890/european-union-eu-donald-tusk-libya-migrant-crisis-turkey-italy

“ALARMING numbers of migrants are to enter Europe from Libya and there will be no way to send them back, the European Council president has admitted.

Donald Tusk said the “never-ending story” of the migrant crisis will be repeated unless urgent action is taken.

The continent has hurtled into chaos since the crisis began, with around one million migrants having landed on Greek islands.

And the former Polish president has warned there will be no way to send migrants back to the North African country, describing an easy solution as “virtually impossible”.

Tusk said: “Convenient and easy solutions are hard to find in politics, and in this case, they are virtually impossible.

“What we are faced with is a perpetual, tenuous and multi-dimensional effort. In fact, something like a never-ending story.

“The solutions we are putting into practice are not ideal and will not end our work.”…”

“TWO drivers have been violently attacked by a gang of British-bound migrants at a motorway rest area near Calais.

A group of around 20 Eritreans armed with sticks and rocks are said to have mistaken their victims for Afghan people traffickers.

The vicious assault – which left the two Frenchmen with fractures, cuts and bruises – comes amid a war between rival migrant gangs to control motorway service areas….”

    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/660912/ISIS-survivors-evil-Syria-terror-cell-captives-hair-Afghanistan

“SURVIVORS of Islamic State have spoken of how they had knives run along their necks, watched people get blown up and were kidnapped because of their haircuts.

Thousands of young men have made the long and dangerous journey from the war-torn middle east to Europe, and many bring stories of how they were captured, beaten and banned from behaving like westerners at home.

In a camp in Preševo, Serbia, Mohammed Zihad, 17, is sporting a gel lacquered spiky cut with stripes shaved into the sides.

The Premier League style cut and his clean shaven face, as well as his smoking habit, which nearly lost him his life, he claims.

Mohammed was captured eight times before his dad decided it was time for them to leave Syria, fearing the next time they would not let him live.

He said: “Daesh took me because of my hair, they didn’t like it….”

“THE Islamic State (ISIS) terror suspect accused of masterminding attacks in Paris last year had documents relating to a German nuclear base in his flat, authorities have revealed, sparking fears of an imminent dirty bomb plot in Europe.

Salah Abdeslam was detained by Belgian police in a dramatic raid on his Brussels hideout last month after evading capture for four months.

Investigators discovered the cache of files, which related to the Juelich base, in his Molenbeek flat when it was searched on March 18.

The atomic site, near the Belgian border, is used to store radioactive waste.

According to German media, printed news articles from the internet and photos of the chairman of the nuclear site Wolfgang Marquardt were found in the apartment….”

  11. Muslims are more progressive than Tories and the Church on issues such as a gay rights, insists Warsi as she hits out at claims some do not integrate into British life (dailymail, Apr 14, 2016)
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3538896/Muslims-progressive-Tories-says-Baroness-Warsi.html

“British Muslims have moved faster than the Conservative Party or the Church on social issues such as gay rights, a former Tory chairman said yesterday.

Sayeeda Warsi hit out at claims that Muslims are failing to integrate into British life.

And she attacked former equalities chief Trevor Phillips, who said this week that many Muslims ‘do not accept the values and behaviours that make Britain what it is’.

Baroness Warsi, who served as Conservative Party chairman for two years from 2010, accused him of ‘pandering to populist prejudice’ and said many religious groups had conservative social attitudes.

‘The Muslim community is conservative in its views, but that is no different to most other religious communities,’ she said. ‘If you compare attitudes to a group of evangelical Christians or Hasidic Jews you would find similarities….”

  12. US scolds France for violent cops and dirty prisons (thelocal, Apr 14, 2016)
    http://www.thelocal.fr/20160414/us-france-for-numerous-human-rights-issues

“The United States has taken France to task for its numerous “human rights problems” in a fairly damning annual report.

In its annual report on human rights around the globe the US State Department listed numerous issues in the land of liberté, égalité and fraternité.

Here are the main problems raised, some of which, given where the criticism is coming from, will not go down well with the French – notably criticism of their police officers.

The state report singled out the French police for their treatment of migrants in Calais.

French police had “beaten, kicked and used tear gas against migrants and asylum seekers in Calais”, the report noted.

Although French police do not have a reputation for being trigger happy, like their American counterparts, they were also criticized for their “excessive use of force during arrests and beatings shortly after an arrest, some of which involved minors.”

The young Paris high school pupil who was punched to the ground by a policemen after being arrested during a recent protest against labour reforms may identify with this point.

Not for the first time, France was also criticized for its continued expulsions of Roma from makeshift camps.

The number of attacks or insults directed towards Muslims or Islamic places of worship that were motivated by Islamophobia shot up by 281 percent in the first six months of 2016, the report noted.

Throughout the whole of the year the number of anti-Muslim incidents more than tripled, the state department noted, quoting figures from the French government.

The report also noted the steep rise in anti-Semitic attacks in the five months after the January terror attacks in Paris – a jump of 84 percent on the same period in 2014.

Criticism of French prisons by the US seems a bit rich, given the notorious state of jails on the other side of the pond, but nevertheless the State Department chose to highlight a few concerns.

“While prisons and detention centres met many international standards…” there were widespread reports of “overcrowding and unhygienic conditions”.

The US noted there were 65,544 inmates held in French prisons, even though the official capacity is 57,759.

The report also noted that “prison suicide remained a problem”

Some 93 inmates committed suicide in 2014, “a rate considerably higher than that outside prison”.

Another human rights criticism the report noted was the problem in France of “lengthy pre-trial detention”.

“Some suspects spent many years in detention before trial” that the US state department noted was partly due to the “long delays in bringing cases to trial”.

“Societal violence and discrimination against immigrants of North African origin, Roma, and other ethnic minorities remained a problem,” read the report.

“Many observers expressed concern that discriminatory hiring practices in both the public and private sectors deprived minorities from sub-Saharan Africa, the Maghreb, the Middle East, and Asia of equal access to employment.””

  13. New law to punish migrants who fail to integrate (thelocal, Apr 14, 2016)
    http://www.thelocal.de/20160414/new-law-promises-punishment-for-migrants-who-fail-to-integrate

“German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s ruling coalition agreed Thursday on tough measures to spur the integration of migrants and refugees, including sanctions for failing to take part in programmes such as language classes.

The deal, hammered out in six hours of late-night talks between Merkel’s conservative Christian Union bloc and the Social Democrats (SPD), also included plans for new anti-terror legislation.

“Now that hundreds of thousands of refugees have arrived in our country, we have a double task: to manage and control refugee flows, and not only to register but to integrate the large numbers,” Merkel said at a Berlin press conference on Thursday.

The new law would both “require things [of new arrivals] and support them,” Merkel continued….”

  14. Deportations rise sharply in Germany: report (thelocal, Apr 14, 2016)
    http://www.thelocal.de/20160414/deportations-rise-sharply-in-germany-report-refugees-refugee

“Germany deported 60 percent more migrants last year than in 2014, the government said on Wednesday, with figures from January and February showing that the pace of repatriations further accelerating.

Some 22,369 people were forcibly returned to their countries of origin in 2015, up from 13,851 the previous year.

In the first two months of this year close to 4,500 people were repatriated – twice as many as in January and February 2015.

Germany, which last year let in a record 1.1 million migrants and refugees, has been ramping up efforts to deport those who have failed to win asylum.

Meanwhile, the number of asylum seekers who have voluntarily left Germany also rose sharply, from 13,573 in 2014 to 37,200 in 2015….”

“(ANSAmed) – ROME, APRIL 14 – Over 1,700 asylum seekers arrived in different parts of Italy late on Wednesday and early on Thursday. Operations in Palermo to offload, run medical checks and identify almost 900 migrants who were saved by the Norwegian Navy ship Siem Pilot went on through the night. Among the arrivals were 138 unaccompanied minors. A Greek merchant ship with 235 migrants aboard, including 111 women and six children, docked at the Sardinian capital Cagliari.

An Italian coast guard ship, the Dattilo, arrived in Catania carrying 121 migrants who had been rescued in the Channel of Sicily. In addition to assisting the migrants, the authorities in Sicily have also started investigations to identify human traffickers. The Italian Navy ship Cicala Fulgosi P490 landed in the port of Reggio Calabria with 558 people of various nationalities on board.

“(ANSAmed) – ISTANBUL, APRIL 14 – “Terrorism is no longer a threat only for a handful of nations or regions. It has become a global problem that has it in for Muslim communities above all.

I have no doubt that the member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation will come together to lead global efforts against terrorism.” Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said this in a speech published by CNN during the 13th OIC summit which unites more than 30 heads of state and government of the Islamic world.

“Unfortunately, many Muslims – above all young people – are particularly vulnerable to the message of terror groups such as Daesh (ISIS) and Al Qaeda, and this is a problem that Muslim countries cannot and must not remain indifferent to,” he said.

In his speech, Erdogan renewed his criticism of what he described as the “double standard of terrorism” that distinguishes between “good terrorists and bad terrorists” and he invited the international community to act with determination against the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and the Syrian Kurdish party Pyd, which Ankara believes are linked. (ANSAmed).”

    • Russia: Ankara cooperating with radical groups, not fighting them – Putin

The Russian government believes the “Turkish leadership is cooperating with radical groups instead of fighting them,” President Vladimir Putin said during the 14th annual ‘Direct Line’ Q&A session in Moscow on Thursday. Commenting on the issue of security for Russian visitors to Turkey, Putin added that “there is a civil war in the south of the country. The international community seems to ignore it, but it is a fact. Moreover, heavy armaments are used there – tanks, artillery and so on.”

SOT, Vladimir Putin, Russian President (in Russian): “We have very good relations with our neighbours. The same with Turkey, we believe that they are our friend, and the Turkish people are very friendly people with whom we are definitely going to build good and neighbourly relations. We have problems with some political leaders whose behavior we think is inadequate. And we will react to it appropriately. But we are working, as you can see, very quietly, without any leaps. And I’m sure that this line to respond to hostile actions against Russia … And certainly it is necessary to react; otherwise they will just hop on our backs and drive. We have already encountered this situation in our recent history. And it is impossible to allow this to happen again. And we will not do this. But taking into account our interests, we will of course develop our relations with all our partners, including our neighbours.”

SOT, Vladimir Putin, Russian President (in Russian): “Regarding travelling to Turkey and Egypt. It didn’t depend on us. There is a variety of reasons for the travel restrictions. But the result is the same. Why is there a variety [of reasons]? The authorities in Egypt are struggling with radical groups. But it is not always successful. And we can see what is happening right there. Hostilities are taking place there almost every day. The former government was ousted from power by the current president. Together with his supporters, he is responding actively. Under these conditions we don’t have the right not to tell our people that travelling to these countries is dangerous. Regarding a solution – together with the Egyptian authorities we have to find a method for conducting passenger security checks, luggage and flight servicing, as well as aircraft servicing, which will make arrivals, departures and the whole trip safe for our citizens. At the present moment we have not found such a mechanism with our Egyptian colleagues. However, our security and law-enforcement agencies are cooperating in this question with our Egyptian friends. Secondly, regarding Turkey. Here we observe a similar situation. But we believe that the current Turkish leadership is cooperating with radical groups instead of fighting them. But the internal security questions of this country [Turkey] make us think about safety. In fact, there is a civil war in the south of the country. The international community seems to ignore it, but it is a fact. Moreover, heavy armaments are used there – tanks, artillery and so on.”

SOT, Vladimir Putin, Russian President (in Russian): “Varya (12 year old girl who posed the question), you put me in a very difficult situation. I don’t even know what to say. What I can say is that if someone is determined to drown you cannot save them. But of course we are ready to extend a hand of support and a hand of friendship to any of our partners. If they want it.”

      • Israel put out the highest-level warning about Turkey this last weekend. Including ‘if you’re there now, get out fast.’
Must’ve picked up an immediate threat.

        • Their sources are better then ours but things are building to a war between Turkey and Russia, with the Israeli warning it looks like the war is coming soon.

          • I think it was pretty specific to Jews and Israelis in Turkey.

Here’s a creepy non sequitur: Saudis are behind the transfers of missiles that are shooting down Russians. Maybe with help from the Turk. This is very unpleasant.

            • Saudi is far from the battle area, the Russians will try to interdict the supply line but will leave Saudi alone for a while. Taking out Turkey is the next logical step. Getting Turkey to open fire on Russian planes and ships will help a whole lot since this will stop most of NATO from helping Turkey.

Add in the offer of Europe to put peace keeping forces into Libya if ask and Turkey may be in big trouble. While European intervention into Libya at this time could cut both ways it will draw European troops away from Europe this summer and ensure that there aren’t enough European troops to intervene in a war between Turkey and Russia.

Given what is happening in Europe and the US I would expect Israel to warn its people and the other Jews publicly while using private channels to warn the rest of the World.

            • Russia will get around to punishing Saudi when the fighting is closer to Saudi. Right now they are willing to let Iran fight in that region while they concentrate on 1) terrorists in Russia, 2) ISIS and Turkey, 3) other areas Putin wants to force back into Russia as well as the areas he wants to conquer (parts if not all of Turkey).

Consider the strategic advantage have most of the Black Sea surrounded by Russia. This would pretty much allow Russia to control all water borne transfer of goods on the Black Sea as well as give them a major path into most of the Middle East.

Does Putin want this? If yes will he achieve that goal?

Remember actions speak louder then words.

              • Maybe the Saudis are filtering their massive purchases of advanced everything to Turkey?
They all did kiss-y-face last week there.

    • TURKEY – Missing German woman found dead in northwest Turkey

A German woman who had been missing for over a month has been found dead in the basement of an apartment building in the Gölcük district of the northeastern province of Kocaeli.

Police found the body of 39-year-old Rita Dari Winkler in a barrel buried underneath an apartment building, in an operation launched after claims that she may have been killed by her boyfriend, identified only by the initials A.K.S.

Following up the claims, police began digging around the boyfriend’s home and an apartment that was used as an office by one of his acquaintances.

During the search, a cement-covered barrel emitting a foul odor and leaking blood was discovered. Upon breaking open the barrel, police found the body of Winkler, whose hands had been bound and who bore traces of choking.

As part of the investigation to find the woman, police had questioned A.K.S, who said the couple had traveled to the Çinarcik district of the western province of Yalova to buy a house. The man, who was released after the questioning, reportedly left Turkey and went to Germany, where his estranged wife lives.

Winkler, a mother of two who was working in a hair salon in the southern resort province of Antalya, disappeared on March 10 after arriving in Istanbul to visit her boyfriend.

According to the local media reports in US, citing declassified State Department cable, a meeting was held between operatives belonging to the Haqqani network, a highly capable al Qaeda-linked terror group, and unidentified officers with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence.

Released on Wednesday, the cable sent two weeks after the attack which suggests that ISI was suspected of giving the Haqqani network $200,000 to “enable” the attack on Forward Operating Base Chapman in Afghanistan’s Khost province.

At least 7 CIA officers and a Jordanian intelligence operative were killed in the attack which was carried out by a double agent, a Jordanian named Hammam Khalil Mohammed, who was invited onto the base to help the agency track down senior al Qaeda operatives….”

MoD also added that 9 miliants were killed and 8 others were wounded in joint operations in Baghlan Markazi and Dand-e-Ghori of Baghlan province.

The Afghan forces killed 14 militants and wounded 10 others in Qads district of Badghis province, MoD said, adding that 13 others were killed and 3 more were wounded in Baharak district of Badakhshan.

At least 27 militants were killed in separte operations conducted in Ghazni, Paktika, Maidan WArdka, Kandahar, Zabul, Sar-e-Pul and Helmand provinces, MoD said.

The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the reports so far.”

According to the local security officials, the Taliban insurgents have launched coordinated attack on the area from different positions and gun battle is underway between the Afghan forces and the militants.

Earlier reports emerging from the area suggested that certain parts of Dand-e-Ghori have been seized by the Taliban insurgents.

STUTTGART, Germany (NNS) — A United States Navy destroyer operating in international waters in the Baltic Sea experienced several close interactions by Russian aircraft April 11 and 12.

USS Donald Cook (DDG 75) encountered multiple, aggressive flight maneuvers by Russian aircraft that were performed within close proximity of the ship.

On April 11, Donald Cook was conducting deck landing drills with an allied military helicopter when two Russian SU-24 jets made numerous close-range and low altitude passes at approximately 3 p.m. local. One of the passes, which occurred while the allied helicopter was refueling on the deck of Donald Cook, was deemed unsafe by the ship’s commanding officer. As a safety precaution, flight operations were suspended until the SU-24s departed the area.

On April 12, while Donald Cook was operating in international waters in the Baltic Sea, a Russian KA-27 Helix helicopter conducted circles at low altitude around the ship, seven in total, at approximately 5 p.m. local. The helicopter passes were also deemed unsafe and unprofessional by the ship’s commanding officer. About 40 minutes following the interaction with the Russian helicopter, two Russian SU-24 jets made numerous close-range and low altitude passes, 11 in total. The Russian aircraft flew in a simulated attack profile and failed to respond to repeated safety advisories in both English and Russian. USS Donald Cook’s commanding officer deemed several of these maneuvers as unsafe and unprofessional.

    Quotes:

“April 11-12, USS Donald Cook was operating in a professional manner in international waters conducting operations and exercises with our allies in the Baltic Sea.”

“In my judgement these maneuvers in close proximity to Donald Cook are unprofessional and unsafe.”

    • Putin is going to keep pushing as long as we have a weak President, this is what a post America world would look like.

    • The naval ship was only 40 miles from a Russian navy base. NATO has recently quadrupled its operations near Russia’s western border and the EU is still trying to bring Ukraine,a country made up of ethnic Russians and Ukrainians, into the European fold which is what triggered the civil war. Russia would have been content for Ukraine to remain a neutral country.
It seem its the West that’s doing all the provoking not Russia.

      • Antikythera
Russia thinks that Ukraine is their land, like Crimea. Crimea and the Russian army units aka “green men” who weren’t there.

      • International law says national waters reach out 20 miles from the shore, this is the distance the Russian warships sail when the sail around the US Naval bases. When we do this we put ships to tailing the Russian ships and have planes fly over then at an altitude of 100 to 200 feet higher then the mast of the ship. Russia can’t bitch about the US sailing around their Naval bases if they are going to sail around ours.

    • I guess it’s official; The Great and Powerful Obama has converted the US to the proverbial “Paper Tiger” in the eyes of our advisories. Anyone can see it. There was an article in Forbes magazine 1/16/16 talking about how far the US as a nation has decreased spending on R&D and that this was the return of “normal” since after WW 2 the US was spending large amounts on military research. My take is that the rise of the “The Great Society” has taxed the productive capacity of the producers to give to a vast army of parasitic voters. Failing to control immigration, expanding imports of relatives via so-called “family reunification” means we have imported poverty. If we are ever to boost our R&D again, we are going to have to shake off all these economic leaches.

      • No Obama hasn’t been reducing R&D because of budget constraints he has been reducing them to harm the US, that is the same reason he has been cutting the size of the US military. Our budget problems consist of the left spending like drunken sailors on anything that will not help the US while cutting spending on vital programs. And under the Clinton tour as Sec of State several hundred billion disappeared. There is also a lot of money given to nations that donated money to the Clinton foundation.

Although your comments on taking from the producers to give to the parasites is correct we just haven’t gone as far in that direction as Europe.

  22. World faces ‘lost year’ as policymakers sleepwalk towards fresh crisis, warns IMF

The world is sleepwalking into a fresh crisis as investors start to lose faith in policymakers’ ability to revive the global economy, according to the International Monetary Fund.

In its bluntest warning to date on the costs of policy inaction, the IMF said “financial and economic stagnation” could take hold unless governments prevented a “pernicious feedback loop of fragile confidence, weaker growth, low inflation and rising debt burdens” from forming.

José Viñals, the head of the IMF’s financial stability division, said a prolonged slowdown could knock around 4pc off global output relative to current expectations over the next five years amid repeated bouts of market turmoil.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2016/04/13/world-faces-lost-year-as-policymakers-sleepwalk-towards-fresh-cr/

    • The left has discovered how true Churchill’s statement about socialism running out of other peoples money to spend is, the entire industrialized world has been borrowing money to spend and printing money to spend in a failed attempt to stimulate the worlds economy. The bill is now coming due for the stupidity of the people who thought that the economies could be controlled by governments. Keynesian economics works only when there is one large economy that maintains a free market and follows sound monetary policies. These do not include uncontrolled borrowing and spending combined with printing press money will cause massive economic problems that will take a long time to reverse. These problems will be reversed when the governments cut taxes, cut spending and reduce regulations. Those three are the only things that can and will end recessions and depressions.

  23. US banks not prepared for another financial crisis, say federal regulators

Federal Reserve and FDIC reject ‘living wills’ of Wells Fargo, Bank of America and three others that don’t meet requirements to avoid another bailout

Some of the US’s biggest banks still lack a proper plan for bankruptcy, in the event of another major financial crisis, US regulators said on Wednesday.

In the wake of the great recession banks were required to come up with “living wills” to prove they had a credible plan for bankruptcy that would not require another bailout from the taxpayers.

But after reviewing the plans of five institutions – JP Morgan Chase, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Bank of New York Mellon and State Street Corp – the Federal Reserve and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp (FDIC) have determined that the banks have yet to meet that requirement.

“The goal to end too big to fail and protect the American taxpayers by ending bailouts remains just that: only a goal,” said Thomas Hoenig, FDIC vice-chairman.

The banks are to submit revised proposals by 1 October.

According to feedback from the regulators, one of the main concerns with JP Morgan’s proposal was the bank’s liquidity in a time of need. Regulators were concerned the bank would not be able to shift money around to fund some of its operation during a time of stress or bankruptcy.

“Obviously we were disappointed,” said Marianne Lake, JP Morgan’s chief financial officer. “The most important thing is that we work with our regulators to understand their feedback in more detail.”

    http://www.theguardian.com/business/2016/apr/13/us-banks-financial-crisis-regulators-reject-living-will-proposals

    • After the last leftist caused crash the US government had to bail out a number of banks, these banks are not more or less under Federal Government control. Another bail out will give the government control of more banks.

The big problem here isn’t the government ownership of stock which a new President could sell back to the banks but the higher ranking memeb3rs of the banks personal that Obama and company caused to be hired. These and people they brought into the banks will be hard to remove.

  24. 3 Arrested, 4 Officers Injured During Clash Outside Trump Rally

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Three people were arrested and four officers suffered minor injuries during a clash between Donald Trump supporters and protesters.

Trump held a rally at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center Wednesday night. The mood outside the building was tense even before the Republican presidential candidate arrived.

  25. ISIS puts out hit on Huma

ISIS on Wednesday put out a hit list targeting moderate Muslims — including top Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin.

The list — in the latest edition of the terror group’s magazine Dabiq– targets several other prominent Muslims including US Rep. Keith Ellison of Minnesota and British pols Sayeeda Warsi and Sajid Javid.

Abedin, the wife of former rep. Anthony Weiner, and other targets are branded “overt crusaders” and “politically active apostates,” who “involve themselves in the politics and enforcing laws of the kufr [disbelievers].”

Clinton spokesman Glen Caplin told The Post he had no comment about ISIS’ hit list.

    • This sounds like a good reason for her to agree to testify against Hillary and go into witness protection.

  26. Is Obama planning his revenge on Netanyahu?

“During his final year in the White House, US President Barack Obama is preparing a metaphorical roadside IED for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. It cannot be that the tainted relations between the two leaders will not end with Obama exacting some sweet revenge.” Variations of the above statement have been uttered for a while now by senior American and Israeli officials since Netanyahu’s speech to the US Congress last year during his campaign against Obama and his nuclear agreement with Iran.

This week, the New York Times brought the fraught Obama-Netanyahu relationship back into the headlines when the paper expounded on the US president’s possible future revenge against the Israeli leader that will be served up cold in the form of a UN Security Council resolution on the Israel-Palestinian conflict.

  27. Poland says NATO must speak to Russia from position of strength

WARSAW (Reuters) – NATO should return to Cold War ways of thinking in its relations with Russia, and speak to Moscow from a position of strength to counter its renewed assertiveness in eastern Europe, Polish deputy defense minister said.

A former Soviet satellite, Poland has been alarmed by Russia’s annexation of Ukraine’s Crimea peninsula in 2014 and its support for armed separatists in eastern Ukraine, and remains one of Moscow’s staunchest critics.

In July, Warsaw will host NATO heads of state at a summit, where it will push for an increased military presence on the alliance’s eastern flank. Russia says deployment of significant NATO forces close to its borders would violate the 1997 NATO-Russia Founding Act.

“Russia’s sees its relations with the West in Cold War terms, so to ensure the efficiency of deterrence we must link it to the way of thinking of the one we want to deter,” Tomasz Szatkowski told Reuters.

“Right now, we must speak to Russia from a position of strength, although obviously without excessive muscle-flexing.”

Szatkowski’s comments came before two Russian warplanes’ simulated attack passes near a U.S. guided missile destroyer in the Baltic Sea on Tuesday, an incident one U.S. official described as one of the most aggressive interactions in recent memory.

    http://www.oann.com/poland-says-nato-must-speak-to-russia-from-position-of-strength/

      • I know, the west went to war in 1938 to preserve Polish Freedom and after the war turned the nation over to the Soviets. They like so many Eastern European nations joined NATO to gain a shield from Russia (Ukraine tried to join but did this too late, plus most of Europe wasn’t that worried about Russia at the time they tried to join). Now Obama has destroyed the US military which leaves all of Europe at risk from any wanna be conqueror.

        • Not really, the West did nothing. and certainly did NOT go to war to preserve Polish Freedom.
During the first 8 month after Germany attacked Poland there was no major military action from the allies side. That period is named “phoney war” and it ended when Germany attacked France.
          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoney_War

          • Oh, and btw, the war started in 1939. Germans attacked Poland on 1st of September 1939 and the Russians attacked Poland on 17th of September 1939.

            • You are right, it was 39 and not 38, the West declared war on Germany with the stated goal of preserving Polish freedom. The fact that the phony war followed was caused by the lack of military offensive power by the other European nations. Britain had reduced all but its Navy to ridiculously low level and the French were trained in defensive fighting only. Also both nations were trying diplomatic moves to achieve a peace treaty without having to fight. (sound likes now doesn’t it)

Once the active fighting started geography forced Britain and the US after we entered to do very little for Poland since all supply lines had to run through either land or sea controlled by Germany.

I use to have some books written by the members of the Polish Government in exile. They all stated that the reason war was declared was the invasion of Poland.

I realize that the events look quite different then what I was taught in school, especially from the Polish viewpoint.

  28. Germany denies Paris attack suspect had papers on German nuclear research center

BERLIN (Reuters) – Germany’s domestic intelligence agency denied on Thursday its head had told German lawmakers a prime suspect in the Paris attacks had documents about the Juelich German nuclear research center.

The Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland (RND) media group had cited sources in a parliamentary committee as saying BfV intelligence agency chief Hans-Georg Maassen had told the committee in March about the documents on Juelich.

“This is not right,” a BfV spokeswoman said. “We have no information about this. Our president Maassen never talked to any members of parliament.”

The media group had reported that printouts of articles from the internet and photos of Juelich chairman Wolfgang Marquardt had been found in the apartment of Salah Abdeslam in the Molenbeek area of Brussels.

Abdeslam, who born and raised in Belgium to Moroccan-born parents, was arrested on March 18 in the Belgian capital and four days later, suicide bombers killed 32 people in Brussels airport and a metro train.

The 26-year-old is now in Bruges prison awaiting extradition to France over his suspected involvement in the Nov. 13 shooting attacks in Paris.

Concerns that Islamist militants are turning their attention to the nuclear industry’s weak spots have risen since the Brussels attack.

    • This is a case of which group do you want to believe? We all know how the MSM slant the news and at times outright lie, we also know that under Merkel the German police and intel types lie. Which do you believe?

      • Meanwhile, Dutch and German armies have pretty much merged. I wonder how many European citizens are aware of these moves.

  29. China urges U.N. focus on militants using poison gas in Syria

BEIJING (Reuters) – China on Thursday urged U.N. Security Council members to back a draft resolution demanding states report when militants are developing chemical weapons in Syria.

Some diplomats have dismissed the proposed resolution as a bid to distract from accusations the Syrian government uses such weapons.

Russia and China circulated a draft resolution to the 15-member body on Wednesday, which Russian U.N. Ambassador Vitaly Churkin said could serve as a deterrent to “terrorist” groups such as Islamic State from using chemical weapons.

Islamic State militants are believed to be responsible for sulfur mustard gas attacks in Syria and Iraq last year, the United States has said. Russia has also said it sees a high probability that Islamic State is using chemical weapons.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang called on “all relevant parties to strengthen coordination, cooperate and jointly oppose and punish any party’s move to use chemical weapons”.

“We also hope all parties on the Security Council can support this Russia-China draft resolution,” Lu told reporters at a regular press briefing.

  30. Christian Self-Defense Forces Emerge in Iraq & Syria
It’s time for the U.S. to ask itself: Why are Sunnis, Shiites and Kurds worthy of our direct material aid but the Christians are not?

The Christians of Iraq and Syria have had a breathtaking commitment to passivity since being victimized by what we all now finally agree qualifies as a genocide.

Now, the Christians are increasingly organizing to defend themselves—and the West should stand by them instead of outsourcing our moral responsibility to the Iraqis and their Iranian partners and various groups with questionable track records.

A poll in December 2014 found that only one-third of Iraqis say they are concerned about the persecution of Christians in their country. About 67 percent said they are not concerned at all or only “somewhat” concerned.

It’s easy to say that the U.S. should pressure the Iraqi government to protect the Christians, but its track record and these poll results do not inspire hope that it’ll work. The pace of the genocide is such that the Christians and those who care for them simply cannot afford to spend time hoping for the best.

A Christian force known as the Babylon Brigade has been incorporated into the Popular Mobilization Units, an assortment of militias led by the Iraqi government and their partners from the Iranian regime and Hezbollah. The Babylon Brigades and their supporters boast of their nationalism, having battled the Islamic State in non-Christian areas like Ramadi and Tikrit.

However, it numbers only 500 to 1,000 The Iraqi government should be applauded for supporting a Christian unit, but don’t mistake this for an Iraqi commitment to a Christian self-defense force that enables the community to have a say over whether it goes extinct or not.

  31. Girls Choose Suicide Bombing Over Life Under Boko Haram
A video showing 15 of the school girls kidnapped by Boko Haram in 2014 has been shown to parents for the first time as “proof of life.”

A “proof of life” video showing 15 of the Nigerian schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram in August 2014 has been shown to the parents of the girls.

It is believed to be the first footage they have seen proving their children are still alive.

The video is in the hands of negotiators and the Nigerian government.

The video was probably made in December 2015, CNN reported.

Some of those forced into being so called “jihadi brides” are clamoring to become suicide bombers. A 16-year-old teenager, identified only as Fati, told Britain’s The Express that if girls become suicide bombers they can escape a life of continual rape and potentially be rescued.

“They [the Boko Haram fighters] would ask: ‘Who wants to be a suicide bomber?’” Fati recounted. “The girls would shout: ‘Me, me, me.’ They were fighting to do the suicide bombings.”

“If they give them a suicide bomb” she said, “then maybe they would meet soldiers, tell them: ‘I have a bomb on me’ and they could remove the bomb. They can run away.”

  32. Hypocrisy: Facebook’s Zuckerberg slams Trump’s ‘wall,’ bought neighbors’ homes to create ‘safe space’

Scratch a liberal, find a hypocrite, the saying goes. That seems to be especially true for Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who recently slammed GOP front-runner Donald Trump for his plan to build a wall on the U.S. southern border. But, the Washington Examiner reported Tuesday, Zuckerberg went so far as to buy up neighboring homes to create a “safe space” for he and his family.

“I hear fearful voices calling for building walls and distancing people they label as others,” he said in California on Tuesday.

In response, Paul Bedard said “several congressional critics emailed Secrets stories about his huge personal and home security.”

Here’s some of what was sent:

“This, from a man who bought every house on his neighborhood block to clear the area and create a safe space for he and his family,” said one congressional source. “I bet he has some pretty sturdy fences to protect his land. Not to mention a platoon of personal bodyguards.”

  33. ISIS reportedly shot down Russian jet in northern Syria

A Russian fighter jet has been allegedly shot down by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in the northern city of Raqqa.

Local activists reported that Russian warplanes conducted today several sorties against ISIS positions in the group’s de facto capital.

According to pro-ISIS media accounts, the two pilots have been captured alive. Al Masdar News hasn’t been able to verify the authenticity of the incident.

Russia denies claims of ISIS downing jet in Syria’s Raqqa

The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) denied the reports being widely circulated on social media about a Russian fighter jet being shot down by ISIS in the Syrian city of Raqqa.

“The alleged report shown on a Qatari TV channel about shooting down a Russian fighter jet near the city of Raqqa by ISIS is totally false and unfounded”, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman, major-general Igor Konashenkov said today.

Konashenkov even described these information as ‘media provocation’, making clear that Russian warplanes didn’t conduct any operation in the group’s de facto capital.

    • Syrian fighter jet apparently downed, pilot believed rescued – monitor

AMMAN, April 14 (Reuters) – A Syrian jet plane was probably shot down on Thursday by Islamic State militants near a military airport in southern Syria but the pilot appears to have been rescued, a monitor said.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said it had received information that the hardline group had hit and may have brought down a Syrian plane near Khalkhala airport, north east of the city of Sweida.

Earlier Amaq, a news agency close to the militants, said in a newsflash it had downed a Syrian army plane in the vicinity of the same airport.

Russia angrily denies ISIS shot down one of its warplanes and took pilots hostage

According to pro-ISIS media accounts reported by Qatari media, the jet was reportedly shot down and two pilots captured alive

Russia says reports that two of its pilots were captured after a warplane was blasted out of the sky by ISIS are untrue and an “informational provocation”.

According to pro-ISIS media accounts reported by Qatari media, the jet was reportedly shot down and two pilots captured alive.

And Syrian campaign group Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently said ISIS fighters in the city have been talking about the incident.

But Major General Igor Konashenkov, a Russian Defence Ministry official, said: “The statement of the Qatar television company about alleged aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces being downed by ?ISIS? terrorists near ?Raqqah is an informational provocation.

“Aircraft of the Aerospace Forces have not been operating in this region today.

“All of the aircraft of the Russian aviation group in Syria are at the ?Hmeymim? airbase (in Latakia, Syria).”

  34. Belgian Media: Jihadi Recruiter Gets 15 Years in Prison (abcnews, Apr 14, 2016)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/belgian-media-jihadi-recruiter-15-years-prison-38398554

“Belgian national media say an influential recruiter for armed Islamic groups in Syria has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Khalid Zerkani, handed the sentence late Thursday afternoon by a Brussels appeals court, had already been found guilty of recruiting Belgian candidates for jihad in 2012-2014.

Among Zerkani’s recruits were two Brussels residents, Abdelhamid Abaaoud and Chakib Akrouh, who helped staged the Nov. 13 attacks in Paris that killed 130 people. Abaaoud and Akrouh themselves died soon afterward in a police siege.

The Associated Press couldn’t immediately verify Zerkani’s sentencing with Belgian court or government officials, but it was widely reported by Belgian media. They said the appellate court sentence affirmed Zerkani’s previous conviction on charges of participating in the activities of a terrorist group as its director.”

  35. (So, it appears that “CHALK” is the new weapon against the PC crowd.)

    Trump Fraternity Bros Vs SJWs

    James Kirkpatrick
    April 13, 2016, 11:09 pm

College fraternities are public enemy number one on college campuses, targeted for destruction by both the administration and the Social Justice Warriors. And now, the most triggering combination possible has arisen. The Trump Bros have come.

Young men like Rowe are a common sight at Trump rallies around the country: Mostly white, they travel in packs and frequently wear Trump’s signature “Make America Great Again” hats, pumping their fists and cheering loudly as protesters get hauled out by security. They document their political activity like any good millennial would, recording their outings on Snapchat, Instagram and Twitter.

They are dudes, jocks, preps and just-your-average college and high school kids. But on the campaign trail, they’ve come to be known simply as “Trump Bros.”

“Bro,” once just shorthand for “brother,” is a term that today describes a white youth subculture of “fratty masculinity,” as National Public Radio once politely put it. Depending on your perspective, “Bro” can either be meant as high praise (usually from a fellow khaki-wearing bro), or a derisive insult.

In dozens of interviews conducted around the country in recent months, one thing is clear: Many of them absolutely love the GOP frontrunner.

[Meet the ‘Trump Bros,’ by Jacqueline Alemany, CBS News, April 11, 2016]

Naturally, the Left is torn between fury and disbelief over all this.

Many of us still expect to wake up one morning to the announcement that Trump and several million people on a secret Republican email list dreamed this up as a nationwide prank. Hasn’t happened yet, but it still could.

Nobody really talks like this unless they’re pranking us, right?

[If ‘Trump bros’ is really going to be a thing, I’m out. Mars, here I come, by Hunter, DailyKos, April 11, 2016]

Wow just wow, I can’t even, etc.

The Left is missing two things here. First, there is obviously an element of self-awareness when it comes to Trump Bros. It’s a little ridiculous, but so is some of Trump’s rhetoric. But both Trump and his supporters are in on the joke. They’re laughing about things which the mainstream media demands we take seriously, especially political correctness. And secondly, as I’ve written before, Trump’s name is a killing word against PC. He’s a rallying cry for those sick of the SJW nonsense on campus.

Thus, the battle on campus is rapidly becoming a battle over Trump. Not long ago, Twitter erupted because reportedly over 100 campuses had people writing pro-Trump slogans on the sidewalk, an event dubbed #TheChalkening.

Statues are being festooned with Trump “Make America Great Again” hats and T shirts.

And a fraternity even built a Trump wall out of sandbags in front of its house, though outraged minority students tore it down. The story is still developing, but I expect they will receive no punishment.

PC is the Establishment on campus and “Trump Bros” are the rebels trying to tear down a despicable and cowardly system. Trump has given them their rallying cry. It’s about time they had one.

    • Interesting, looks like the non PC students are starting to organize. I wonder if Greek Town at the very liberal University of Missouri is part of the movement.

  36. Senior Tories on ISIS ‘kill list’: Minister among ‘crusaders’ targeted by Daesh (express, Apr 14, 2016)

Business Secretary Sajid Javid and Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, a former minister and chairman of the Conservative Party, were singled out as moderate Muslims who were “enforcing laws of the kufr [disbelievers]”.

“American taxpayers are forking out more than $300,000 every day to deport illegal immigrants on commercial flights and even on private jets, Daily Mail Online can exclusively reveal.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) spent $116m in 2015 to transport 235,413 people in the United States illegally back to their home countries.

More than 40 per cent of those who had violated visa restrictions were convicted criminals while more than 1,000 were identified as gang members.

A group campaigning for taxpayers’ rights have said the figures obtained by the Daily Mail Online are ‘insane’ and an ‘outrageous waste of tax dollars’.

The ICE revealed to Daily Mail Online that the average cost of every immigrant in 2015 was $12,213.

  39. Facebook is sorry for ‘accidentally’ removing Erdogan cartoon

President Erdogan does not like to be insulted. German comedian Jan Böhmermann, who called the Turkish president a “goat fucker”, is learning that the hard way. He might be prosecuted for insulting a head of state.

Dutch Cartoonist Ruben L. Oppenheimer replied to this news by posting a cartoon on Facebook that portrays Erdogan…well, you can see for yourself.

Facebook decided to remove the cartoon from Oppenheimer’s page because it claimed the cartoon infringed the platforms community guidelines. It remained unclear which exact guideline was infringed. Nor do we know whether Facebook acted completely on their own, or whether someone alerted Facebook.

Yet, a couple hours after tweeting his discontent with Facebook, Oppenheimer shared a picture of the email he received from the social network platform. A Facebook employee had ‘accidentally’ removed his post. Facebook apologized for its mistake and restored the post.

Human Rights Groups: Neo-Fascists, Islamic Extremists Behind Rise in Antisemitic Hate Crimes in OSCE Countries

The number of antisemitic hate crimes in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) region are rising and neo-fascist and Islamist groups are the cause, a human rights report published on Tuesday claims.
    […]
“In some OSCE countries there has been a rise in antisemitic hate crime,” the report stated. “This alarming development can be traced to both incitement from neo-fascist groups and the growth of violent Islamist extremist groups. Antisemitism is a virulent thread that runs through the ideologies of many extremist groups, even though their worldviews converge on little else.”
    […]
The governments of Greece, Hungary, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Poland and France were specifically named in the report for the rise of “openly antisemitic, anti-Muslim, racist and homophobic far-right political parties.”

  41. Kuwait academic charged with blasphemy over TV interview (BBC, Apr 14, 2016)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-36046706

“A prominent female academic and human rights activist in Kuwait has been charged with blasphemy.

Sheikha al-Jassem was summoned to the public prosecutor’s office after legal complaints were filed against her over a recent interview she gave on TV.

She asserted that the constitution of Kuwait should be above the Quran and Islamic law in governing the country.

The public prosecutor still has the discretion to decide whether or not Ms Jassem will be put on trial.

The interview was broadcast on Kuwaiti Al-Shahed TV on 8 March. Its theme was the rise of Islamic extremism.

During the interview, Ms Jassem was asked about radical Islamists who said that religion was more important than the Kuwaiti constitution.

She responded by saying that this was dangerous and that, in her opinion, politics and religion should be kept apart.

Ms Jassem made reference to the violence across the Middle East and divisions between Sunni and Shia Muslims. She said that if you just went back to holy books and relied on them, society could not move forward.

Her remarks provoked a storm of attacks against her, spearheaded by Islamist members of Kuwait’s parliament.

“They were terrifying me – everywhere, not just from Kuwait, even from Saudi Arabia,” she told the BBC. “They were talking against me, they were saying bad things, they were ridiculing me. But I’m used to it now.

Calls were made for Ms Jassem’s dismissal from Kuwait University, where she is a professor of philosophy. and a legal complaint was issued against her.

The public prosecutor told her that the complainant said he had been psychologically damaged by her remarks.

Other legal complaints may also be filed.

Ms Jassem faces charges of blasphemy but it is up to the public prosecutor to decide whether to proceed to trial. If convicted, she could be jailed for one year.

But she is undaunted, buoyed by the support she has received as well as abuse.”

“Libya has warned that it does not have the resources to control the flow of people heading to Europe. It has accused the EU of failing to deliver on promises of help.

The latest figures show more than 24,000 people have already made the crossing from Libya to Italy this year.

The UN says 352 people have died since January.

In Misrata the coastguard is struggling to cope with the numbers of migrants’ boats setting sail.
    Orla Guerin reports…”

    • Since ISIS is rapidly taking over Libya they could stop the seaborne route easily, they don’t want to stop the people leaving since so many of them are ISIS fighters moving into Europe to be part of the army of conquest.

  44. US condemns Syrian journalist’s murder by IS in Turkey (BBC, Apr 14, 2016)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-36043886

“The US has condemned the “vicious murder” of a Syrian journalist in Turkey by an Islamic State militant – the fourth such attack in a year.

Zahir al-Shurqat, a presenter for online TV channel Aleppo Today, was shot on a street in the south-eastern border town of Gazientep on Sunday.

The 36-year-old died in hospital two days later, Turkish media reported.
