  1. Belgian vice PM acknowledges street celebrations following Brussels attacks

This is evidence that imams have declared Belgium to have progressed from dar al Harb to dar al Islam.

As of now, Muslims will oppose all Belgium’s forces, as illegal, and having no proper legal authority in the country, particularly over Muslims.
Frankly. Belgium is seen as “submitted”. The only thing is that Belgium’s politicians dont know it yet.

This is evidence that Muslims in France, even Muslim cops, no longer believe that France is dar al Harb but is now dar al Islam. In Muslim eyes, France is now dar al Islam. French Muslim will increasingly refuse to comply or even respect French authority. Muslims see France as a submitted nation.

We are rapidly moving to a serious conflict in Europe. Civil war – one that I have predicted for decades. Its a real shame that many innocents will quite unnecessarily be injured, because of blind attachment to egalitarian Pollyanna principals, that have no place in a fallen world.

The only real military power in Europe is the USA. The only power that can cross all European borders – no questions asked. All European leaders know this.

Europe does not know yet, but in this world, our only hope is Trump.

Pray that God will have mercy on us for abandoning Him, and worshiping at the altar of pagan Multicultism.

  2. Germany forced to act over SOARING rates of sex assaults against by refugees (express, Apr 1, 2016)

“SOARING rates of sexual abuse against women and children in German refugee camps has forced Angela Merkel’s government to pledge over £160million pounds to combat it.

Officials in Berlin are shocked at individual reports reaching bureaucrats on a daily basis of attacks against defenceless people.

In the town of Giessen, near Frankfurt, 15 women in one camp have filed complaints to local police of rape and other forms of sexual abuse.

But while hundreds of incidents have been reported, fear of men and family elders, coupled with the stigma of being a victim, have, say officials, prevented thousands of women and children from going to the authorities to register complaints.

The Ministry for Families, Seniors, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) will now provide money for the scheme which aims to give better protection to the vulnerable, including the remodelling of migrant centres to give more privacy to females and minors.

Police have for long told of a rising trend of abuse, including rapes, but in the highly-charged political atmosphere that surrounds the whole refugee issue in Germany the problem has largely remained unaddressed.

Municipal authorities will be able to get the money from central government in the form of in zero-interest loans….”

  3. 1000 armed police on Britain’s streets to protect UK from Paris-style terror attack (express, Apr 1, 2016)

“HUNDREDS more armed police officers will patrol the streets of British cities on alert to deal with a Paris-style terror attack, it has been announced.

The “significant” increase in counter-terror squads includes 400 more armed police ready to be deployed to cities outside London, working around the clock, in addition to a nationwide fleet of extra armed response vehicles.

The move comes after a Government review of the capacity and capability of Britain’s police forces to act in the event of “complex” attacks, similar to that on Charlie Hebdo or the Paris terror in November.

David Cameron made the announcement as he attended a summit in Washington, where world leaders are discussing plans to protect nuclear facilities.

He said: “Our police and intelligence agencies work round the clock to keep us safe and it is absolutely vital that we support them with the right resources and kit….”

    • The unarmed Bobby is rapidly disappearing which in this day and age is a good thing but that begs the question when will Britain return to the old Saxon Law of let all free men be armed? The answer to a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun and no matter how hard they try there will never be enough police to protect everyone.

        • An armed man is a free man — Robert A. Heinlein.

You can’t enslave a free man, the worse you can do is kill him — Robert A. Heinlein.

The left hated him and hates to see his books reprinted.

  4. Greek island stabbings raise UN fears over EU migrant deportation deal (telegraph, Apr 1, 2016)

“Three migrants were stabbed on the Greek islands of Lesbos and Samos on Thursday night, deepening UN concerns over the viability of the controversial EU-Turkey to deport thousands of illegal immigrants back to Turkey.

The United Nations repeated its demands for legal safeguards to be put in place before refugees are returned to Turkey warning that conditions in Greece – where more than 5,000 refugees are now corralled in holding camps on the Greek islands – are rapidly deteriorating.

“The risk of panic and injury in these sites and others is real,” said Melissa Fleming, a spokeswoman for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) told a Geneva news briefing. “This is in light of continued serious gaps in both countries.”

She singled out the islands of Lesbos and Samos, the Athens port of Piraeus and the unofficial refugee encampment at Idomeni on Greece’s border with Macedonia as areas of particular concern….”

    • Migrants held on Greece’s Chios break out from centre in protest

ATHENS, April 1 (Reuters) – Hundreds of migrants and refugees on the Greek island of Chios tore down part of the razor wire fence surrounding their holding centre on Friday and began walking to the port in protest, police officials said.

Under a European Union deal with Turkey, migrants and refugees arriving after March 20 are to be held in centres set up on five Aegean islands, including Chios, and sent back if their asylum applications are not accepted.

Returns are supposed to begin on April 4, though neither Greece nor Turkey are fully ready and uncertainty remains over how many will be sent back and how they will be processed.

About 1,500 migrants and refugees who arrived on Chios since March 20 were being held at the facility as of Friday morning.

Video clips on Greek websites showed dozens of migrants and refugees, many of them women and children, carrying their belongings and walking along the tree-lined road to the port.

A police spokesman for the northern Aegean region to which Chios belongs said about 300 people had left the centre. Police were monitoring the situation, he said.

Clashes broke out at the site late on Thursday, during which windows were smashed and 10 people were injured lightly, another police official said.

“They say they don’t want to go back to Turkey and that they are afraid for their safety after yesterday’s clashes,” a police official on Chios said.

“The police tried to persuade them to return back but they refused and now walking to the port of the island,” he said.

Before the deal, arrivals on the islands were free to leave the camps and head for ferries to the Greek mainland, from where they would mostly head north via the Balkans in a bid to reach western Europe.

Since March 20, however, they are meant to be held in the five centres set up on the Aegean islands of Samos, Chios, Lesbos, Kos and Leros.

    • Doctors of the World Forced to Leave Greek Island Following Migrant Riot

Violent clashes have erupted between migrants on the Greek island of Chios, forcing medical organization Doctors of the World to leave after their reception center was destroyed in a riot.

The humanitarian organization was there to offer medical assistance to migrants but left the island following a third brawl in just two days. Reports on the website say the hotspot on Chios, set up to register new migrants and asylum seekers, had become a battlefield between different ethnic groups.

Migrants reportedly trashed the medical center set up by Doctors of the World causing 30,000 euros worth of damage.

Riot police are expected to arrive on the island on Friday after local police failed to stem the violence with stun grenades. Two refugees were stabbed and three more suffered head and leg injuries.

The registration center on Chios has a capacity of 1,100 but 1,700 migrants and refugees are detained there — and more are arriving every day.

The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) has expressed concerns about conditions in hotpots on Greek islands holding refugees before they are sent back to Turkey, under the European Union’s conditional deal with Ankara.

“On Lesvos, conditions have been deteriorating at the Moria ‘hotspot’ facility”, Melissa Fleming, UNHCR spokesperson said.

Fleming says conditions in reception centers for refugees and migrants at the Greek port of Piraeus and in Idomeni near the border with Macedonia are “dismal” and “risk of panic and injury in these sites and others is real in the current circumstances.”

Greece is due to start sending back all migrants who have crossed the Aegean Sea illegally back to Turkey next week, but how they will do it is still being negotiated between the EU, Turkey and Greece. Meanwhile, riots are breaking out on a daily basis in refugee reception centers on Greece’s islands.
Doctors of the World Leave Chios Hotspot After Refugee Fight

Two refugees were stabbed and three more suffered serious injuries after a violent fight broke out on Thursday night at the Chios refugee registration center, forcing the Doctors of the World to leave the island.

This was the third serious violent brawl between migrants that broke out within 48 hours, after the incidents at Idomeni and Piraeus Port that left several people injured.

According to website, the Chios hotspot became yet another battlefield for refugees and migrants. Groups of different ethnic backgrounds clashed for unknown reasons resulting in the stabbing of two people who were transferred to hospital. Others sustained serious head and leg injuries.

Police attempted to disperse the angry mob by throwing stun grenades. According to local police, they have repeatedly requested the dispatch of two more riot police units to the island for help. A riot police unit is expected on the island on Friday.

The angry migrants trashed the infrastructure at the reception center and literally destroyed the Doctors of the World facility. The volunteer organization is now forced to leave the island after damages of the Doctors of the World clinic are estimated at 30,000 euros.

The Chios registration and accommodation center has a capacity of 1,200. At the moment, about 1,500 refugees and migrants are detained at the center. More than 200 arrived at the island on Thursday and will be registered on Friday to be transferred later at the Souda camp in Chios city.

Local residents have planned a protest at the island’s police station on Friday morning.

    • RT – Greece: Chios refugees break for ‘freedom’ at hotpot after night of clashes

Dozens of refugees broke through a gate at the Vial refugee hotspot in Chios Island, Friday, in a bid to join a protest decrying conditions at the site.

Refugees joined a group of activists that were already protesting outside against the conditions of the hot spot centre and chanted slogans demanding “freedom.” Security guards tried to push them back and closed the fence, but it was opened again, allowing the protest to continue.

    • RT -Greece: Tensions still high after clashes erupt at refugee hotpot on Chios

Tensions were still high at the Vial refugee centre in Chalkio village on Chios Island, Thursday night, after clashes reportedly erupted between Syrian and Afghan refugees.

Three people were reportedly injured while the medical centre of the refugee centre was completely destroyed. Police were immediately deployed to ease tensions, with an ambulance arriving at the site to offer medical assistance.

  5. Police detain 15 in Islamic State raids in western Turkey: media (reuters, Apr 1, 2016)

“Turkish police detained 15 people in raids early on Friday targeting the Islamic State militant group in the western coastal province of Izmir, the private Dogan news agency reported.

Among those detained were people who fought for Islamic State in neighboring Syria and who trained others to fight for the group, it said.

Among those they had trained was a man now being sought by police in connection with bomb attacks on offices of a pro-Kurdish party in southern Turkey last year and who was regarded as a potential suicide bomber, Dogan said.

Turkish authorities say a Turkish member of Islamic State was responsible for a suicide bombing in central Istanbul on March 19 that killed three Israelis and an Iranian. That was the fourth suicide bombing in Turkey this year and the second to be blamed on Islamic State.

Counter-terror squad police launched the raids on various address in the city and seize four shotguns along with Islamic State documents and materials.

On Wednesday, Turkish police detained 16 people in the southeastern province of Adiyaman on suspicion of belonging to the al Qaeda-linked Nusra Front.”

  6. BREAKING – US military says they are now training ‘dozens’ of Syrian opposition fighters to battle Islamic State – Reuters

US trains dozens of Syrians in new push against ISIS

The US military said on Friday it had started training “dozens” of Syrian opposition fighters to battle ISIS as part of a revamped program that aims to avoid mistakes that doomed its first training effort in Turkey last year.

US Army Colonel Steve Warren, a Baghdad-based spokesman for the US-led coalition battling ISIS, told Pentagon reporters that no Syrian fighters had graduated yet from the new program.

[…]Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Friday signalled that the Kremlin’s position on President Bashar al-Assad had not changed, saying that his fate must be decided only by people of Syria, including in free and democratic elections.

Another Russian government source said on Friday it hoped the Syrian government delegation would show flexibility at peace talks with the opposition.

  7. BELGIUM – Brussels attacks: Police strike halts Brussels airport reopening

Plans to partially reopen Brussels airport on Friday evening have been halted amid a strike by airport police over security concerns.

The SLFP police union told the BBC that security measures put in place for the reopening were insufficient.

[…]Vincent Gilles, the president of the SLFP, the largest police union in Belgium, said: “We are on strike because of what happened on 22 March – we cannot continue as if this day has not happened.

“The police feel the security measures put in place by the airport company are insufficient for those who work and use the airport.”

He says metal detectors, body scanners and x-ray machines should be set up to screen people before they are allowed into terminals.

The authorities have so far rejected this, arguing that such checks would create new queues outside the buildings, leading to fresh security risks.

Defence Minister Steven Vandeput said: “We must find a balance between economic needs and security needs.”

In an earlier open letter to authorities published by Belgian broadcaster VRT (in Dutch), police had said they had sent “strong daily signals regarding the overall security at the airport”.

    They also alleged that too many airport employees had C R I M I N A L B A C K G R O U N D S.

  8. Russia Doubling Nuclear Warheads
New multiple-warhead missiles to break arms treaty limit

Russia is doubling the number of its strategic nuclear warheads on new missiles by deploying multiple reentry vehicles that have put Moscow over the limit set by the New START arms treaty, according to Pentagon officials.

A recent intelligence assessment of the Russian strategic warhead buildup shows that the increase is the result of the addition of multiple, independently targetable reentry vehicles, or MIRVs, on recently deployed road-mobile SS-27 and submarine-launched SS-N-32 missiles, said officials familiar with reports of the buildup.

“The Russians are doubling their warhead output,” said one official. “They will be exceeding the New START [arms treaty] levels because of MIRVing these new systems.”

The 2010 treaty requires the United States and Russia to reduce deployed warheads to 1,550 warheads by February 2018.

The United States has cut its warhead stockpiles significantly in recent years. Moscow, however, has increased its numbers of deployed warheads and new weapons.

The State Department revealed in January that Russia currently has exceeded the New START warhead limit by 98 warheads, deploying a total number of 1,648 warheads. The U.S. level currently is below the treaty level at 1,538 warheads.

Officials said that in addition to adding warheads to the new missiles, Russian officials have sought to prevent U.S. weapons inspectors from checking warheads as part of the 2010 treaty.

The State Department, however, said it can inspect the new MIRVed missiles.

  9. In new push, U.S. military trains dozens of Syrian fighters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. military said on Friday it had started training “dozens” of Syrian opposition fighters to battle the Islamic State as part of a revamped program that aims to avoid mistakes that doomed its first training effort in Turkey last year.

U.S. Army Colonel Steve Warren, a Baghdad-based spokesman for the U.S.-led coalition battling Islamic State, told Pentagon reporters that no Syrian fighters had graduated yet from the new program.

  10. Obama calls on China to ‘peacefully’ address South China Sea: White House

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. President Barack Obama urged China to peacefully resolve its maritime disputes with neighboring countries and to maintain freedom of navigation in the region, a reference to the ongoing dispute in the South China Sea, the White House said in a statement on Friday.

In talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping alongside the Nuclear Security Summit on Thursday, Obama discussed U.S. support for human rights in China and called for the ability of companies to be able to compete fairly in China, it said.

  11. Obama says nuclear terrorism threat remains despite progress

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama warned on Friday of a persistent threat of terrorists getting their hands on nuclear materials despite progress in reducing such risks, and called on world leaders to do more to safeguard nuclear facilities.

“There is no doubt that if these madmen ever got their hands on a nuclear bomb or nuclear material, they would certainly use it to kill as many people as possible,” he told a global nuclear security summit in Washington.

Obama cited concerns about groups such as al Qaeda and Islamic State trying to obtain nuclear materials, saying this was no time for the international community to be complacent.

Obama was hosting more than 50 world leaders for his fourth and final summit focused on efforts to lock down vulnerable atomic materials to prevent nuclear terrorism. North Korea’s nuclear defiance was also high on the agenda.

He has less than 10 months left in office to follow through on one of his signature foreign policy initiatives. While progress has been made, many arms-control advocates say the diplomatic process – which Obama conceived and championed – has lost momentum and could slow even further once he leaves the White House in January.

A boycott by Russian President Vladimir Putin, unwilling to join in a U.S.-dominated gathering at a time of increased tensions between Washington and Moscow over Ukraine and Syria, adds to doubts that the meeting will yield any major decisions.

  12. DAILY MAIL – German taxpayers hit with €200million bill for ‘remodelling’ migrant camps so women and children are protected from sex attackers

€200 million to help tackle the issues of sexual abuse in migrant camps
Migrant women and children have been targeted in a spate of attacks
One German camp recorded 15 cases of sexual assault in one month

The German government is set to allocate €200 million to help tackle the issues of sexual abuse in refugee camps.

Migrant women and children have been targeted in a spate of attacks with one camp in the town of Gießen recording 15 cases of sexual assault in just a single month last year.

‘Many of the women in the camps are scared to speak out about what is happening – many of them are for example scared to be sent back home because of it,’ the Ministry for Families, Seniors, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) spokesperson Verena Herb told The Local.

The large amount of financial investment will be used to restructure refugee camps and provide designated protective spaces for women and children.

Working alongside UNICEF, the government’s new scheme will also provide training for staff and information for preventing sexual abuse in the camps.

  13. JIHAD WATCH – VIDEO: WH Censors French President Saying ‘ISLAMIST Terrorism,’” by Craig Bannister, MRCTV, April 1, 2016:

The White House website has censored a video of French Pres. Francois Hollande saying that “Islamist terrorism” is at the “roots of terrorism.”

The White House briefly pulled video of a press event on terrorism with Pres. Obama, and when it reappeared on the website and YouTube, the audio of Hollande’s translator goes silent, beginning with the words “Islamist terrorism,” then begins again at the end of his sentence.

Even the audio of Hollande saying the words “Islamist terrorism” in French have, apparently, been edited from the video.

According to the official White House transcript of Hollande’s remarks, Hollande refers to “Islamist terrorism.” The audio of the bold text in brackets is missing from the video – the only point in the video were the audio is absent:

“We are also making sure that between Europe and the United States there can be a very high level coordination.

“But we’re also well aware that the roots of terrorism, [Islamist terrorism, is in Syria and in Iraq. We therefore have to act both in Syria and in Iraq, and this is what we’re doing within the framework of the coalition.] And we note that Daesh is losing ground thanks to the strikes we’ve been able to launch with the coalition.”…

between 4:40 and 4:60 on the video :

    • DAILY MAIL – White House under fire for ‘censoring’ video of French president’s speech by eliminating interpreter’s translation of the words ‘Islamist terrorism’ (but don’t worry – it’s just a ‘technical issue’!)

Francois Hollande said Thursday in Washington that nations must understand the roots of ‘Islamist terrorism,’ a phrase the Obama administration refuses to use
White House transcript including English translation went out to reporters 90 minutes later
Official White House video initially erased that part of the interpreter’s English audio overlay
Administration played clean-up on Friday by putting up both versions and blaming a ‘technical issue’

[…]Its original video did not: It erased all the words in English after the phrase ‘But we’re also well aware that the roots of terrorism.’

The initial footage, uncut, was restored hours later with a message from the White House. Both versions remain on YouTube at different locations.

‘A technical issue with the audio during the recording of President Hollande’s remarks led to a brief drop in the audio recording of the English interpretation,’ the message read.

‘As soon as this was brought to our attention, we posted an updated video online here with the complete audio, which is consistent with the written transcript we released yesterday.’

[…]Rumble, a media company that redistributes licensed video with ads and shares revenue with online publishers, offered a version of Reuters video footage on Friday that eliminated just one word in the translator’s voice.

      It was ‘Islamist.’

  14. State Department Halts Its Clinton Email Investigation, Defers to FBI

The U.S. Department of State has halted its internal review of Hillary Clinton’s most sensitive emails until the FBI’s own investigation is complete, the State Department announced today.

“We do not want our internal review to complicate or impede [the FBI probe],” spokeswoman Elizabeth Trudeau said. “We are prioritizing the law enforcement investigation.”

In January the department revealed that during its review of Clinton’s 52,000 pages of private email it had come across 22 documents that had to be upgraded to “Top Secret” and totally withheld from public release. It said at the time that it would conduct a separate internal review to determine if the secret information in those emails had been mishandled at the time the emails were sent.

Today the State Department said it is deferring that judgment to the FBI, which is conducting a more comprehensive security review of Clinton’s email. The outcome of that investigation is highly anticipated amid the 2016 election cycle. Clinton has said she is confident that will not happen and that she did not break any laws with her use of a private email server during her tenure as secretary of state.

[…]The FBI is expected to interview Clinton’s closest aides and the presidential candidate may also be part of its investigation. It’s not clear when the investigation will be completed. The FBI has not formally named Clinton as a target and she has not been accused of any crimes.

      • The Dem on the panel was trying to lay the groundwork to try and convince people this is a political witch hunt after someone who has done nothing wrong. The problem with this is that only the people who were born Democrats and who will die Democrats without every having an original thought will believe this defense. It is sad to say that there may be as many as 25% of the population that thinks this way. It use to be larger but Bill and Hillary really lowered the number when he was President and so many crimes were proven against him.

FYI the reason he wasn’t prosecuted is that he cut a sweetheart deal with his justice department and a Judge he appointed and plead guilty to all charges and was sentenced to losing his law license. This stopped all other prosecution.

If, I repeat if Hillary is indicted one of the last things Obama will do before he leaves office will be to pardon her. She knows too much about his treasonous actions for him to let her be placed in jeopardy of a long prison sentence.

    • German Television Pulls Satire Mocking Turkey’s Erdogan

GERMANY’S STATE BROADCASTER, ZDF, apologized on Friday for what it called satire that had crossed the line into slander and removed video of a comedian reading an obscene poem about Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan from its website and YouTube channel.

The poem, which was read by the German satirist Jan Böhmermann on Thursday’s edition of his late-night show “Neo Magazin Royale,” described Erdogan in vile, obscene terms — even comparing him, at one stage, to Josef Fritzl, an Austrian man who fathered seven children with a daughter he held in a cellar for 24 years — but the text was presented as part of a comic demonstration of the difference between satire and slander.

Although video of the entire show has disappeared from ZDF’s official channels, an excerpt of the segment, with Turkish subtitles, can be viewed on the website of Bild, the German tabloid. The clip includes a reaction shot of Ralf Kabelka, Böhmermann’s sidekick, frowning at one particularly egregious line.

As Alexander Kühn explained in a column on the segment for Spiegel Online, the conceit of the sketch was that Böhmermann was, in faux innocence, trying to understand where the line between satire and defamation was, by reading lines from the poem that might be considered slanderous. Kabelka was helping him by listening and pointing out what could not be said on television.

The issue has been in the news all week in Germany because of the Turkish government’s official complaint about a music video mocking Erdogan, which was broadcast on another German television channel. Turkey’s foreign ministry tried, and failed, to convince the German government to have that relatively mild spoof removed from the internet.

Erdogan, who is visiting Washington this week, along with his heavy-handed security detail, said in an interview with Christiane Amanpour on Thursday that he was “open to criticism,” but “we shouldn’t confuse criticism with insult and defamation.”

He added that he had no problem with “a simple sketch,” but “satire with the president of a country at its core, which results in defamation and insults, is something different.” Pressed by Amanpour as to why he did not simply ignore such jokes, Erdogan said that he reserved the right to sue anyone whose mockery of him insulted the Turkish voters who had elected him.

ZDF’s director of programming, Norbert Himmler, said in a statement that the network gives wide latitude to its satirists, “but there are also limits to irony and satire. In this case, they were clearly exceeded.”

Although the Erdogan sketch is no longer online, one inspired piece of Böhmermann’s show from Thursday remains on YouTube. It is a music video mocking xenophobic German nationalists who were caught on video in February hurling insults at terrified Muslim refugees, and chanting, “We are the People!”

Böhmermann was repulsed by footage of that incident of a mob surrounding a bus outside temporary accommodation in the village of Clausnitz, 19 miles south of Dresden.

As he and others noted, the use of the phrase “We are the People” (“Wir sind das Volk” in German) was particularly disturbing because it had been appropriated by the anti-immigrant nationalists from a slogan used in protests against the East German government in 1989. In the past two years, it has been adopted by a group known as Pegida — a German acronym for a name that translates roughly as Patriotic Europeans Against the ‘Islamization’ of the West — which holds mass rallies against Muslim immigrants in Dresden and other cities in the former East Germany.

Böhmermann’s response to the incident is the very funny song “Be Deutsch!” first broadcast on Thursday, in which he praises — in English, to a German metal beat — the virtues of a more tolerant, Birkenstock-wearing, multicultural, modern Germany that is standing up to the nativists. “Say it clear, say it loud,” the chorus goes, “We are proud of not being proud!”

The song, which was promoted on social networks with the hashtag #MakeGermanyGreatAgain, was also partly inspired by the rise of similar groups in other countries, and goes on to compare Erdogan and Donald Trump to Hitler. “Maniacs with wicked hair,” Böhmermann sings, “Ja, ja, ja, we have already been there.”

  17. Despite Criticism, EU Plans Are Ready to Deport Refugees (abcnews, Apr 1, 2016)

“Greece is pressing ahead with plans to start deporting migrants and refugees back to Turkey next week, despite mounting concern from the United Nations and human rights organizations that Syrians could be denied proper protection while some are allegedly even being forced back into their war-torn country.

Lawmakers in Athens Friday voted 169-107 to back draft legislation, fast-tracked through parliament, to allow the returns to start as soon as Monday.

The operation would see migrants and refugees who arrived on Greek islands after March 20 put on boats and sent back to Turkey.

Several Greek officials with knowledge of the planning told the AP that deportations are likely to start from the island of Lesbos, with migrants from Afghanistan, Pakistan and other countries whose asylum claims are considered inadmissible.

The transport, the officials said, will be carried out under heavy security escort — with one police minder for every migrant — using buses that will travel from island detention camps and are likely to board straight onto chartered vessels.

The officials asked not to be identified because plans for the forced returns have not been formally announced.

The imminent deportations are backed by the European Union following its recent agreement with Turkey, and triggered more violence at detention camps in Greece.

Authorities on the Greek island of Chios said several hundred people pushed their way out of an overcrowded detention camp and staged a peaceful protest in the island’s main town, chanting “freedom, freedom” and “Turkey no.” The rally followed overnight clashes between Syrian and Afghan detainees that left five people injured.

More protests are planned on the island Saturday.

In Geneva, Switzerland, the United Nations refugee agency, or UNHCR, urged Greece and Turkey to provide further safeguards for asylum seekers before the returns begin, noting that conditions were worsening by the day for more than 4,000 people being held in detention on Greek islands.

And rights group Amnesty International, which has strongly opposed the EU-Turkey agreement from the start, said in a report Friday that it had evidence of Turkish authorities rounding up Syrians and sending them back across the border to their conflict-torn country.

The group said Turkey has been expelling around 100 men, women and children nearly daily since mid-January.

“EU leaders have willfully ignored the simplest of facts: Turkey is not a safe country for Syrian refugees,” Amnesty’s Europe and Central Asia Director John Dalhuisen said.

Greek officials did not respond to the criticism directly, but insisted the rights of detained asylum seekers were being protected.

“I assure you that we will strictly observe human rights procedures, not what people are inventing, but what is required under the circumstances,” Migration Affairs Minister Ioannis Mouzalas told parliament.

The clashes on Chios were the latest in a series of violent incidents at shelters and gathering points across Greece, where more than 52,000 migrants and refugees are stranded following EU-supported Balkan border closures.

More than 11,000 of those stranded remain camped out at the Greek-Macedonian border, ignoring calls by the government to move voluntarily to organized shelters.

Many say they have heard conditions in other camps are worse, and they fear what they might find if they are forced to move….”

  18. 11 Suspected Neo-Nazis Arrested in France (abcnes, Apr 1, 2016)

“France’s interior minister says 11 suspected members of a neo-Nazi group have been arrested.

The members of the group, who allegedly were spreading racist messages, were arrested Wednesday in an investigation of “criminal association” and “participation to a combatant group”, Bernard Cazeneuve said Friday in a written statement.

Cazeneuve says 11 rifles, two guns, 28 knives, some bullet-proof vests and helmets and several Nazi flags were among the items seized during police raids in eight regions of France.

The statement says the three “most active members” of the group were brought before a judge Friday to be charged.”

  19. Libyan politicians hit by EU sanctions over new government (BBC, Apr 1, 2016)

“The European Union has imposed sanctions on three prominent Libyan politicians opposed to the installation of a UN-backed government.

The sanctions target the leaders of two rival administrations that have been vying for power amid the chaos after the 2011 overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi.

The measure comes two days after the leaders of a new unity government arrived in the capital, Tripoli…”

  20. Pakistan honour killings on the rise, report reveals (BBC, Apr 1, 2016)

“Nearly 1,100 women were killed in Pakistan last year by relatives who believed they had dishonoured their families, the country’s independent Human Rights Commission says.

In its annual report the commission said 900 more women suffered sexual violence and nearly 800 took, or tried to take, their own lives.

In 2014 about 1,000 women died in honour-related attacks and 869 in 2013.

Correspondents say a large number of such crimes go unreported in Pakistan.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said there is no place in Islam for killing in the name of family honour.

“The predominant causes of these killings in 2015 were domestic disputes, alleged illicit relations and exercising the right of choice in marriage,” the report said.

Most of the 1,096 victims were shot, the report said, but attacks with acid were also common…”

Criminal gangs have reportedly taken to social media to advertise new routes into the continent, including a lucrative “Italian trip” from the Turkish port of Mersin which costs £3,000 per person.

  24. Fury at EU scheme which will see YOU paying for illegal migrants to be rehoused in AFRICA (express, Apr 1, 2016)

“BRITISH taxpayers will have to pay for housing and jobs for economic migrants and failed asylum seekers who are sent back to their home countries under the European Union’s (EU) latest madcap migration scheme, can reveal tonight.

The European Commission (EC) has given an initial €1.14 million (£910,000) for the programme, which will see migrants who volunteer to return from Italy to their home countries provided with housing, education and employment.

The Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration scheme aims to “dissuade [migrants] from making irregular journeys” by funding their reintegration in their homeland if they agree to voluntarily return.

The EC insists its controversial plan will “support migrants’ reintegration in their countries of origin through assistance with housing, education, vocational training and employment”.

But critics tonight warned that it would only serve as a “reward” encouraging more migrants to make the perilous crossing to Italy, which has already claimed thousands of lives…”

  25. EUROPE’S NO-GO ZONES: List of 900 EU areas where police have ‘LOST CONTROL’ to migrants (express, Apr 1, 2016)

“EUROPE has nearly a thousand ‘no-go’ areas where authorities have simply lost control due to the high number of immigrants, it was sensationally claimed tonight.

London, Paris, Stockholm and Berlin are among the major European cities that feature on a bombshell list of 900 lawless zones with large immigrant populations.

The shock dossier, released by the Hungarian government, backs up claims made by Donald Trump in December that there are large swathes of Britain and Europe where police are now too afraid to patrol due to radical Islamist extremism.

Ministers from the central European nation wrote in their report that authorities had “no control” over residents in these neighbourhoods, adding that the growth of radical Islam is “increasing the terrorist risk and imperilling our culture”.

The bombshell claims were published on a website set up to oppose an EU migrant quota system.

According to the Hungarian government there are 900 areas across the EU where “the norms of the host society barely prevail” due to huge levels of migration.

The website says: “The mandatory European quotas increase the terrorist risk in Europe and imperils our culture.

“Illegal migrants cross the borders unchecked, so we do not know who they are and what their intentions are. We do not know how many of them are disguised as terrorists.”

Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, has refused to participate in the EU’s quota plan to relocate 160,000 migrants across the continent and has even built a huge fence to seal off his country…”

  26. Plot to exploit migrant chaos as ‘an EXCUSE’ to rush through creation of EU Army (express, Apr 1, 2016)

“EUROPEAN ministers are plotting to use the chaotic influx of migrants across the continent to rush through the creation of an all-powerful EU ARMY.

Central and Eastern European countries are pushing controversial plans to bring about the stand-alone military which has long been a cherished goal of Brussels bureaucrats.

They are citing the continent’s growing refugee crisis as the perfect excuse to execute the unprecedented military operation, which would comprise of a “civil-police-military mission” to kick out illegal immigrants.

But critics have dismissed the idea for a “bridging mission” using a joint military force along the EU border as “an excuse” to rush in an EU Army in through the back door. They added that once such a force is established, there is a possibility it would never be disbanded…”

  27. Religious head of Scotland’s biggest mosque will NOT face charges over leaked messages ‘praising Pakistani extremist assassin’ (dailymail, Apr 1, 2016)

“The religious head of Scotland’s biggest mosque will not face charges over a series of leaked messages that apparently praised an extremist who was executed after murdering a politician in Pakistan.

Glasgow Central Mosque Imam Habib ur Rehman was said to have made favourable comments about assassin Mumtaz Qadri.

Qadri was hanged in February for the murder of Punjab governor Salman Taseer, who opposed Pakistan’s strict blasphemy laws.

The imam said a series of Whatsapp messages about Qadri in which he reportedly called the killer a ‘true Muslim’ had been ‘taken out of context’ and were about his opposition to Qadri’s hanging and the Pakistani justice system.

Police Scotland said it had reviewed the comments but ‘no criminality has been established’…”

While federal authorities have yet to take over the case from state prosecutors in Saxon capital Dresden, the investigation is a step towards the group facing a trial at the federal level.

The files cover two cases against a total of five men and one woman aged between 18 and 40.

They are accused of attacking refugee accommodations and refugee aid workers.

Dresden-based prosecutors had flagged up the case to their federal colleagues in Karlsruhe because they suspected it could qualify for the serious crime of “forming a terrorist group”….”

In his speech during a ceremony to mark the death anniversary of a senior police official Hekmatullah Haqmal, Daudzai said Pakistan was never in favor of peace in Afghanistan.

This comes as Daudzai earlier said Pakistan is approaching its own interests in the Afghan peace process.

  37. USA – NYC – Accused cop killer Tyrone Howard now identifies as Muslim, refuses to appear in court on Fridays

Accused cop killer and career criminal Tyrone Howard now claims to have found faith in jail.

Howard, 31, who is charged with the murder of Detective Randolph Holder, refused to come to his Friday court appearance because he has taken up Islam, a judge said Friday.

“Mr. Howard is refusing to appear,” Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Michael Obus said. “He said he is Muslim and will not come to court on Fridays.”

Howard remained at the Manhattan Detention Complex — which is attached to the 100 Centre St. courthouse where his case is being heard — while his attorney Michael Hurwitz and prosecutor Linda Ford attended a brief status conference without him.

Hurwitz told Obus that this was the first he had heard of his client’s religion-based objection to dealing with court matters on a holy day.

Outside the courtroom, Hurwitz said he “never had a discussion with him about it.”

The lawyer did not anticipate standing next to an empty chair before the judge on Friday.

A former NYPD colleague of Holder’s, who attended the hearing, remarked that Howard was a “coward” for skipping court.

Howard allegedly used a .40 caliber gun to fire a head shot at the Harlem cop, assigned to a housing district, during a chase near the FDR Drive on Oct. 20.

Howard’s rap sheet includes about two-dozen arrests beginning at age 14.

  38. Spanish church backtracks on Cordoba mosque-cathedral name

MADRID – Catholic Church authorities in the southern Spanish city of Cordoba have agreed to restore the Islamic reference in the name of the city’s famed mosque-cathedral and stop referring to it as simply “The Cordoba Cathedral.”

The decision was welcomed Friday by the Mosque-Cathedral protest group that complained that church policy of dropping the mosque reference on pamphlets and tickets was an attempt to blot out its Islamic past and confused tourists.

The church association that runs the site said that following studies, and in the interest of tourism, the monument will now be called the Mosque Cathedral Monument Complex.

The mosque was built after the Moorish invasion of Spain in the 8th century but was transformed into a cathedral in the 13th century. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site

    from wikipedia :

The site was originally built by the Visigoths as the Catholic Basilica of Saint Vincent of Lérins. When Muslims conquered Spain in 711, the church was first divided into Muslim and Christian halves. This sharing arrangement of the site lasted until 784, when the Christian half was purchased by the Emir ‘Abd al-Rahman I, who then proceeded to demolish the entire structure and build the grand mosque of Cordoba on its ground.

  39. DENMARK – Radicalism Causes Danes to Rethink Proposed Plans for ‘Super Mosque’

Plans to build a large mosque have been stalled in the Danish city of Aarhus; public support for the mosque has also dwindled following TV channel TV2’s shocking revelations.

Aarhus city council has decided to withdraw its support for a ‘super mosque’ which would have been built in the Gellerup district of Aarhus.

The council had earlier endorsed the Danish Federation of Islamic Associations’ plan to erect a large mosque, but changed its mind in the aftermath of the revelations in the TV2 documentary “Mosques Behind the Veil.” In the documentary, two Danish Muslims visited mosques with a hidden camera. Notably, a local Aarhus imam from the Grimhøj mosque, which last year made international headlines by declaring its support for Daesh, was caught on film preaching to his flock that they must stone unfaithful women to death. Unsurprisingly, the police statistics later revealed that 22 out of the 27 local Aarhus Muslims who left to fight alongside Daesh in Syria had attended there.

Aarhus mayor Jacob Bundsgaard announced earlier this month that he was dropping his support for the huge mosque project, which had already been backed up by the city.[…]

On March 20, 2016, the Russian state-owned media outlet Sputnik published an article entitled “Not Coming Home: What Russian Hardware Stays in Syria After Pullout and Why.” The article lists the military hardware slated to remain in the Hmeymim Air Base in Syria, after the withdrawal started on March 15, 2016.

In a MEMRI report published on March 15, additional hardware is mentioned. On March 14, the day of the announcement of the Russian withdrawal, Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that Russia’s naval base at Tartus and its strategic Hmeymim airbase will continue to operate as before. On March 17, while honoring Russian officers who participated in the Syrian campaign, Putin said that Russia can build up its military campaign in Syria in a “few hours.”

  41. CIA fighting the Pentagon in Syria

The fractured situation in Syria is looking even more bleak as forces allied with different parts of the US defense establishment are fighting against each other.

The Los Angeles Times reports that the Kurdish-dominated Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which is supported by the Pentagon, has been clashing with the CIA-backed Arab Fursan al-Haq militia near Aleppo.

“Any faction that attacks us, regardless from where it gets its support, we will fight it,” said one of Fursan al-Haq’s leaders.

SDF and Fursan al-Haq are only two of the dozens of groups that are fighting against dictator Bashar al-Assad and ISIS, yet cannot come to power-sharing arrangements among themselves.

The US and other Western countries see Assad and ISIS as the primary threats in Syria and have been arming rebel groups with little inter-departmental coordination over the groups’ other aims.
