Several loud explosions followed by heavy gunfire were heard over Tripoli in the early hours of Wednesday, a Reuters reporter said.
The cause of the firing was not immediately clear, but the Libyan capital has been on edge amid speculation that a U.N.-backed unity government was about to travel to Tripoli from Tunisia.
The self-declared government in Tripoli and some armed factions in the city oppose the unity government and have warned it not to move.

YOU pay for Roma gypsy palaces: Yet another reason to quit EU (express, Mar 30, 2016)
http://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/656553/Roma-gypsy-palaces-quit-EU-benefits-Brexit
“LEAVING the EU is the only way to stop UK benefits being spent on “gypsy palaces” in Romania, it was said last night.
Critics now claim Europe’s “open borders” are to blame as migrants continue to tap Britain’s welfare state.
The fresh call to control who can enter the UK came after it was said taxpayers have unwittingly helped to build more than 300 mansions in one small Romanian town alone.
Tandarei has become the Roma town Britain built, with many extravagant homes believed to have been bankrolled thanks to handouts claimed here.
Five years ago there were fewer than 100 mansions in Tandarei.
Now that number has trebled, with some valued at £500,000 and many having British-registered cars parked outside.
Thousands of migrants now see Britain’s soft-touch benefits system as a way of extracting “free money”.
Last night Ukip leader Nigel Farage said: “By leaving the EU we can ensure only those who have paid into the system can take out.
“We will also be able to put in place a sensible Australian-style ‘points-based’ immigration system that stops dangerous criminals from coming to Britain.”…”

What is happening to dissenting Saudi royals?

At a rough guess things are getting hairy in Saudi and the King and his advisors have decided they can’t afford to have Royal Princes running around undermining the war effort. The Saudis (and other oil funded rulers) have a lot of experience in bribing foreign leaders to undermine their national interests and the King is working to ensure that this doesn’t happen in Saudi.

A former Canadian engineering student detained over fears he might commit a terrorist act was formally charged on Tuesday with participating in the activities of a terrorist group.
Kevin Omar Mohamed, 23, appeared briefly in a Toronto area court to face the charge, which was in addition to two weapons offenses laid by federal police when he was arrested last week in possession of a knife.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said he had traveled to Turkey on or around April 24, 2014 to join the Qaida-linked al-Nusra Front.

OK – when the UN uses the term ‘occupied territory’ instead of ‘disputed territory’: what exactly does this mean on the international political sphere?
Well, let’s ask Morocco….and apply the lesson from there to, say, Israel?
“In the eyes of Morocco, these are premeditated acts to alter the nature of the dispute,” Morocco’s foreign ministry said in a statement. “At this level of responsibility, words have meaning, political and legal consequences, and personal opinions have no place.”
Morocco took over most of the territory in 1975 from colonial Spain. That started a guerrilla war with the Sahrawi people’s Polisario Front, which says the desert territory in the northwest of Africa belongs to it.
The United Nations brokered a ceasefire in 1991 and sent in its MINURSO mission to help organize a referendum on the future of the territory. But the sides have been deadlocked since then.
Morocco, which accused Ban of losing his neutrality in the dispute, said it also had differences with the U.N. chief over his reference to the referendum during his visit to the Western Saharan refugee camps in Tindouf in southern Algeria.

Khamenei says missiles, not just talks, key to Iran’s future
Iran’s top leader on Wednesday said missiles were key to the Islamic Republic’s future, offering support to the hardline Revolutionary Guards that have drawn criticism from the West for testing ballistic missiles.
Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei supported last year’s nuclear deal with world powers but has since called for Iran to avoid further rapprochement with the United States and its allies, and maintain its economic and military strength.
“Those who say the future is in negotiations, not in missiles, are either ignorant or traitors,” Khamenei, who has the final say on all matters of state, was quoted as saying by his website.

Long term vegetarian diet changes human DNA raising risk of cancer and heart disease
Populations who have had a primarily vegetarian diet for generations carried a genetic mutation which raised risk of cancer and heart disease
Long term vegetarianism can lead to genetic mutations which raise the risk of heart disease and cancer, scientists have found.
Populations who have had a primarily vegetarian diet for generations were found to be far more likely to carry DNA which makes them susceptible to inflammation.
Scientists in the US believe that the mutation occured to make it easier for vegetarians to absorb essential fatty acids from plants.
But it has the knock-on effect of boosting the production of arachidonic acid, which is known to increase inflammatory disease and cancer. When coupled with a diet high in vegetable oils – such as sunflower oil – the mutated gene quickly turns fatty acids into dangerous arachidonic acid.
The finding may help explain previous research which found vegetarian populations are nearly 40 per cent more likely to suffer colorectal cancer than meat eaters, a finding that has puzzled doctors because eating red meat is known to raise the risk.

Pentagon Concerned by Chinese Anti-Ship Missile Firing
Cruise missile test firing spotted on South China Sea’s Woody Island
China has deployed anti-ship cruise missiles on a disputed South China Sea island and the missiles are raising new concerns in the Pentagon over Beijing’s growing militarization of the vital strategic waterway.
Defense officials confirmed that China’s military recently test-fired a YJ-62 anti-ship cruise missile from Woody Island, in the Paracels located in the northern part of the South China Sea.
At the Pentagon, spokesman Peter Cook declined to confirm the cruise missile deployment but said reports of the test firing has increased worries about Chinese military activities.
“I can’t get into intelligence matters from here,” Cook said of the cruise deployments.
“But obviously, as we have been talking about for some time, anything, any steps by any of the players in that part of the world, China or otherwise, to militarize those features that are in dispute, those islands in dispute, would be a concern to us,” he told reporters at the Pentagon.
President Obama and Southeast Asian leaders during the recent summit meeting in California voiced support for freedom of navigation and overflight and “unimpeded lawful commerce, as well as non- militarization and self-restraint in the conduct of activities in that part of the world,” Cook said.

Families of U.S. personnel ordered to leave parts of Turkey amid security concerns
(This version of the story corrects reference to location of Izmir and Mugla provinces in story)
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Obama administration ordered the families of U.S. military and diplomatic personnel to leave parts of southern Turkey on Tuesday and warned U.S. citizens against travel to the region amid mounting security concerns.
The Pentagon said 670 dependents of U.S. military personnel would be affected by the order to depart areas of southern Turkey, including Incirlik air base, which is used heavily in the fight against Islamic State militants.
The U.S. State Department said a small number of diplomatic families would be affected but did not give numbers. The Pentagon said 100 military dependents in Ankara and Istanbul were not affected by the departure orders because of security measures in place there.
State Department spokesman John Kirby said the move had been under consideration for several weeks, and was not the result of any specific threat and had nothing to do with the visit to Washington this week by top Turkish officials.

Exclusive: Most Americans support torture against terror suspects – poll
(Reuters) – Nearly two-thirds of Americans believe torture can be justified to extract information from suspected terrorists, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll, a level of support similar to that seen in countries like Nigeria where militant attacks are common.
The poll reflects a U.S. public on edge after the massacre of 14 people in San Bernardino in December and large-scale attacks in Europe in recent months, including a bombing claimed by the militant group Islamic State last week that killed at least 32 people in Belgium.
Donald Trump, the front-runner for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, has forcefully injected the issue of whether terrorism suspects should be tortured into the election campaign.
Trump has said he would seek to roll back President Barack Obama’s ban on waterboarding – an interrogation technique that simulates drowning that human rights groups contend is illegal under the Geneva Conventions. Trump has also vowed to “bring back a hell of a lot worse” if elected.
Trump’s stance has drawn broad criticism from human rights organizations, world bodies, and political rivals. But the poll findings suggest that many Americans are aligned with Trump on the issue, although the survey did not ask respondents to define what they consider torture.

Exclusive: Russia, despite draw down, shipping more to Syria than removing
MOSCOW (Reuters) – When Vladimir Putin announced the withdrawal of most of Russia’s military contingent from Syria there was an expectation that the Yauza, a Russian naval icebreaker and one of the mission’s main supply vessels, would return home to its Arctic Ocean port.
Instead, three days after Putin’s March 14 declaration, the Yauza, part of the “Syrian Express”, the nickname given to the ships that have kept Russian forces supplied, left the Russian Black Sea port of Novorossiysk for Tartous, Russia’s naval facility in Syria.
Whatever it was carrying was heavy; it sat so low in the water that its load line was barely visible.
Its movements and those of other Russian ships in the two weeks since Putin’s announcement of a partial withdrawal suggest Moscow has in fact shipped more equipment and supplies to Syria than it has brought back in the same period, a Reuters analysis shows.
It is not known what the ships were carrying or how much equipment has been flown out in giant cargo planes accompanying returning war planes.
But the movements – while only a partial snapshot – suggest Russia is working intensively to maintain its military infrastructure in Syria and to supply the Syrian army so that it can scale up again swiftly if need be.

I read they pulled out old junk and stuff needing repairs, brought in new and better everything.

U.S. hopes China will agree to talk about South Korea missile defenseWASHINGTON (Reuters) – A senior U.S. diplomat said on Tuesday he hopes China will accept an offer for a technical briefing on a new missile defense system the United States wants to deploy in South Korea, a prospect Beijing sees as a threat to its national security.
U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system was necessary for the United States to protect itself and regional allies from North Korean missile attacks.
“We realize China may not believe us and also proposed to go through the technology and specifications with them … and prepared to explain to what the technology does and what it doesn’t do and hopefully they will take us up on that proposal,” Blinken told Washington’s Brookings Institution.
Blinken spoke ahead of a visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to Washington for a nuclear security summit that will have concerns about North Korea high on the agenda.
The United States and South Korea agreed to begin talks on possible THAAD deployment last month after North Korea tested its fourth nuclear bomb on Jan. 6 and launched a long-range rocket on Feb. 7.
China backed tough new sanctions on North Korea following the tests but has voiced opposition to THAAD as its radar has a range that would extend far beyond the Korean peninsula and into China.

Where do Americans stand on Trump’s proposed ban on Muslims entering the country?
By LU Staff March 29, 2016
Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump has come under fire from liberals and members of his own party for his view that the U.S. should institute a temporary ban on Muslims entering the country.
But a new poll suggests that a majority of Americans agree with the billionaire’s proposal.
When polled on whether there should be “a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on,” 51% of respondents said they agree.
“This is slightly up from the 45% support when the question was first asked after Donald Trump proposed the ban in December 2015,” writes YouGov’s Peter Moore. “This is largely a result of a big jump in support for a ban among independents (42% to 62%), as Democratic opposition and Republican support is largely unchanged over the last four months.”

Paris attacks: Hollande drops plans to strip nationality (BBC, Mar 30, 2016)
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-35924701
“French President Francois Hollande has dropped plans to change the constitution to strip militants convicted of terror attacks of their French nationality.
“A compromise appears out of reach,” Mr Hollande said after the two houses of parliament failed to agree the reforms.
The proposal followed November’s Paris attacks which killed 130 people.
But it ran into huge opposition and led to Justice Minister Christiane Taubira resigning in February.
“I noticed that parts of the opposition have been hostile to any revision of the constitution,” Mr Hollande said after a cabinet meeting.
“I deplore this attitude, because we have to do anything we can under these serious circumstances.”
But former president and leader of the opposition party, The Republicans, Nicolas Sarkozy, said Mr Hollande’s leadership was at fault.
“By promising everything and the opposite of everything, in reality he condemns the country to stalemate and immobility,” he said.

It’s not over. It’s never over. After last week’s deadly airport and subway bombings in Brussels, the Belgian government remains on high alert for jihad attacks and espionage at its nuclear facilities.
One Belgian nuke plant security guard was murdered recently and his ID is missing. Two of the Brussels bombers reportedly spied on the home of a top senior scientist in the country’s nuclear program. ISIS has been implicated in an alleged insider plot to obtain radioisotopes from one of Belgium’s nuclear plants for a dirty bomb. Two former Belgian nuke plant workers left their jobs to fight for ISIS in Syria.
This is all according to plan. The al-Qaida house organ, Inspire magazine, has urged its followers to conduct attacks using “specialized expertise and those who work in sensitive locations that would offer them unique opportunities” to wreak havoc.
Could Islamic terrorists and other criminal menaces now exploit homeland security vulnerabilities at our own nuclear power plants and other utilities here in the U.S.?
Answer: They already have.
In 2011, a little-remembered Department of Homeland Security intelligence report warned of the ongoing enterprise of jihadi infiltration at nuclear, utility and other infrastructure facilities. The memo, titled “Insider Threat to Utilities,” warned that “violent extremists have, in fact, obtained insider positions.” Moreover, “outsiders have attempted to solicit utility-sector employees” for damaging physical and cyber attacks.

FRANCE – Nearly 1,000 migrants evacuated from Paris camp
Paris authorities on Wednesday evacuated 985 migrants from a large camp that mushroomed this month in the east of the French capital.
The mayor’s office said in a statement that the migrants — mostly from Sudan, Eritrea and Afghanistan — would be housed in emergency shelters for a month, allowing them to begin the asylum process.
“I don’t know where we are going, but it will always be better than here,” said Ahmed, an Afghan who said he was fleeing “the war and the Taliban”.
He is one of several of the migrants to have come from the grim “Jungle” camp in the northern port city of Calais, parts of which were cleared away by authorities earlier this month.
The French government is trying to limit the size of the “Jungle”, now home to about 3,500 people, and persuade migrants to give up on their dream of reaching Britain and apply for asylum in France.
Tightened security has reduced nightly bids to sneak onto trucks or storm the port, and increasing numbers of migrants appear to be giving up and coming to Paris.
The Paris camp sprung up underneath an elevated section of the metro train track, and some 400 people were evacuated on March 7 and taken to shelters, but the camp quickly reformed.
“The pace is increasing, I think there are a large number of people who were in Calais and who are coming to Paris,” said regional government official Sophie Brocas.
The evacuation was the 19th of its kind in Paris since June last year, which has seen 6,500 migrants moved to emergency shelters.
More than one million migrants — about half of them Syrians — reached Europe via the Mediterranean last year, a rate of arrival that has continued through the first three months of 2016.
Germany has taken in the bulk of the migrants. Nearly 80,000 people applied for asylum in France in 2015.
In a bid to control the unprecedented flow of people into member states, the European Union has struck a deal with Turkey to return migrants crossing the Mediterranean.

Sarraj, who was named prime minister-designate in December under a UN-brokered power-sharing deal, arrived at a naval base in Tripoli Wednesday following growing international calls for Libya’s rival political camps to unite behind his administration.
“Those who entered illegally and secretly must surrender or turn back,” Ghweil said. “We won’t leave Tripoli as long as we are not sure of the fate of our homeland.”
Libya has had two rival administrations since mid-2014 when a militia alliance overran the capital, setting up its own authority and forcing the internationally recognised parliament to flee to the country’s remote east.

John Kerry’s New Terror Treason
Befriending Communist terrorists with American blood on their hands.
Stop by your local post office and you might just see a poster of Rodrigo “Timochenko” Londono hanging next to the Most Wanted posters of bank robbers and fugitives. The State Department is offering a $5 million reward for information about the Communist terrorist leader.
But all the State Department had to do was ask Secretary of State Kerry. Obama did the wave with the Cuban dictator and Kerry met with Timochenko , the leader of FARC, a Marxist terrorist organization that appears on his own department’s list of foreign terrorist organizations a little above Al Qaeda.
Timochenko is a Communist who was trained at the USSR’s infamous Patrice Lumumba University. The State Department accuses him of ordering the kidnapping of Americans and responsibility for much of the cocaine that is smuggled into the United States. But none of that bothered Kerry who accepted a signed copy of a memoir by the terror group’s former leader which was addressed to “Senor” Kerry.
The signatures in Kerry’s new keepsake include Pablo Catatumbo, a FARC leader with a $2.5 million reward on his head from the State Department, who is wanted for “the production, manufacture, and distribution of hundreds of tons of cocaine to the United States and the world” and “the murder of hundreds of people who violated or interfered with the FARC’s cocaine policies.”Also signing Kerry’s book was Iván Márquez, who has a $5 million reward on his head for most of the same reasons.

Europe Still Sleeps, and Europeans Still Die
And Europe can’t say it wasn’t warned.
While England Slept is the title of Winston Churchill’s 1938 book documenting the failure of England to counter Germany’s rearmament. Despite the gruesome price paid for ignoring Churchill’s warnings, postwar Europe has slumbered for decades while its cultural dysfunctions have nurtured the jihadist violence erupting across Europe. Last week’s attacks in Brussels, coming four months after the Paris attacks that killed 130, suggests there are more attacks to come. According to AP, 400-600 ISIS-trained terrorists are making their way to Europe.
Europe can’t say it wasn’t warned. In 2002 Oriana Fallaci published The Rage and the Pride, a passionate defense of Western civilization and an indictment of those who appease Islamic illiberalism. Ten years ago Bruce Bawer’s While Europe Slept gave first-hand reports of Europe’s feckless immigration policies that fostered and appeased Muslim radicalism and violence. A year later Claire Berlinski’s Menace in Europe and Melanie Phillips’ Londonistan sounded the same alarms. And there are the dystopian novels of Michel Houellebecq like Platform and last year’s Submission, which link Europe’s cultural and spiritual exhaustion to the rise of homegrown jihadism and Islamization.
An even more important prophet is Bat Ye’or, whose Eurabia (2005) documented “Europe’s evolution from a Judeo-Christian civilization, with important post-Enlightenment secular elements, into a post-Judeo-Christian civilization that is subservient to the ideology of jihad and the Islamic powers that propagate it.” The result is the dhimmi mentality of Europe’s elites, which manifests in word and deed Western inferiority to Islam, and guilt over alleged crimes against the Muslim world.
But a secularized Europe committed to multicultural fantasies and la dolce vita as the highest goods has dismissed these prophets as bigots and “Islamophobes” who distort the “religion of peace.” Yet after the collapse of the Ottoman caliphate in 1923––the “catastrophe” Osama bin Laden mentioned after 9/11–– the theorists of modern jihadism were forthright and plain in expressing the intolerant and triumphalist Islamic beliefs and jihadist imperative consistent with Ye’or’s analysis. Islam’s nature, Muslim Brotherhood founder Hassan al-Banna wrote, is “to dominate, not to be dominated, to impose its laws on all nations, and extend its power to the entire planet.” Fellow Muslim Brother Sayyid Qutb concurred: “Islam has a right to remove all those obstacles which are in its path.” The Ayatollah Khomeini, leader of the Iranian Revolution, agreed: “The great prophet of Islam carried in one hand the Koran and in the other a sword; the sword is for crushing the traitor and the Koran for guidance . . . Islam is a religion of blood for infidels but a religion of guidance for other people.”

Germany: Berlin rejects Turkey’s complaints over satirical video mocking Erdogan
Spokespersons for the German government explained Berlin’s position regarding freedom of the press and freedom of speech in the wake of a recent diplomatic dispute between Turkey and Germany, during a press briefing in the German capital on Wednesday. The press conference was held to address Turkey’s response to a satirical video produced by a German television channel, that ridiculed Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
SOT, Christiane Wirtz, deputy spokesperson of German government (German): “Indeed there were talks between the German and Turkish governments, there are diplomatic means through which the German government has made clear its stance towards the freedom of speech. And I want to remind you that this is not the first time that the German government has made itself clear regarding the issue of freedom of speech. TV series such as that highlighted by the Turkish government, belong without question to Germany’s media landscape which comprises freedom of opinion and speech; and this view that the German government has regarding press freedom and freedom of speech has been communicated to the Turkish government via diplomatic means.”
SOT, Sawsan Chebli, deputy spokesperson of German Foreign Ministry (German): “Ambassador Erdmann was invited last week on Tuesday and yesterday to hold talks in the Turkish Foreign Ministry. Ambassador Erdmann expressed and made clear the government’s position, meaning that the rule of law requires the independence of the judiciary and the protection of fundamental rights, including of course freedom of the press and freedom of speech; these are important principles that need to be protected. He even pointed out that political satire in Germany is obviously covered by freedom of speech and press freedom. In this respect there is no need or way to negotiate these issues.”
Harvard Students Demand Right Not to Sit Next to Anyone Who Opposes Abortion
Welcome to Harvard. Try not to have any politically incorrect opinions.
In a class I attended earlier this semester, a large portion of the first meeting was devoted to compiling a list of rules for class discussion. A student contended that as a woman, she would be unable to sit across from a student who declared that he was strongly against abortion, and the other students in the seminar vigorously defended this declaration. The professor remained silent.
How long until she refuses to sit in the same class with someone who opposes abortion? And then other students join her “protest” and scream that the university isn’t hearing their pain. And then go on a hunger strike?
This kind of crybullying worked very well at Mizzou and Yale. So it’s only going to escalate… and escalate.

There’s a remarkable – shocking – video embedded in the link above.
Scary isn’t, in the long run the people who are ready and willing to protect them and theirs will be the ones that survive.
Turkey to Host UN’s First Global Humanitarian Summit
Why a terror-supporting country with an atrocious human rights record is not the best host.
The first-ever United Nations-sponsored World Humanitarian Summit is scheduled to take place May 23-24, 2016 in Istanbul, Turkey. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon praised Turkey’s “compassionate leadership” in hosting the summit and its “admirable commitment to humanitarian action.”
Turkey’s hosting of the UN humanitarian summit is a travesty. Ban Ki-moon’s praise of Turkey’s “compassionate leadership” and “admirable commitment to humanitarian action” is a disgrace. Did perhaps the Secretary General have in mind the so-called Turkish “charity” known as the Foundation for Human Rights and Freedoms and Humanitarian Relief (IHH)? Despite its name and some programs that have delivered aid to areas in genuine need, IHH has an overtly political Islamist agenda. It has had a particular interest in directing assistance to terrorist organizations such as Hamas, and has had ties with al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood. It is looking forward, in its words, to when “Muslims may show up in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem one day unannounced and we will erect the flag of Islam everywhere.”
The IHH is best known for sponsoring the 2010 Gaza flotilla, which had been sent to break Israel’s legal naval blockade of Gaza against the shipment of weaponry to Hamas. Nine armed Turkish Hamas supporters on one of the ships were killed by Israel Defense Force personnel, whom had acted in self-defense after they had boarded the ship to prevent it from reaching Gaza. Never mind that a UN investigatory committee subsequently concluded that Israel had legally boarded the IHH ship in the first place. Turkey’s leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan sided with the IHH and Hamas, and accused Israel of engaging in “state terrorism.” Erdogan’s government has coordinated with the IHH and has given it cover as a so-called “humanitarian” charity so that it could carry on its support of Hamas against Israel. Erdogan’s loyalists even went so far as to fire a senior police official who thought he was simply doing his job by conducting a police raid of IHH offices. The raid which so displeased Erdogan had led to the detention of at least 23 people with alleged ties to Al Qaeda.

BREITBART – GERMANY – Government Handing Cash To Mosques, Not Schools, To Teach Migrants To Read
The German government has given money to mosques in hopes migrants might be more receptive to integration classes and schooling from religious authorities.
Literacy courses in Turkish-run mosques have been funded by the education ministry for the past two years, with the hope that new migrants will find the familiar environment easier than a German classroom. Authorities are also hoping that integration courses offered in mosques will help stem the growing tide of radicalisation in the German Islamic community, reports Die Welt.
Syrian teacher Diaa Shmmou said that the process to teach new migrants literacy will be a slow one as they will have to learn the German language, a new way of writing, and a new alphabet to read. Shmmou was happy that the government was giving money to the mosques to facilitate the teaching saying that migrants, “are in a place in which they trust and where they feel comfortable.”
The courses are the brainchild of the Society for Intercultural Coexistence, a “non-governmental organisation” which is funded primarily by the Federal Ministry of Education. The project aims to prevent the radicalisation of new migrants by getting them into “approved” mosques and keeping them away from mosques that are known to preach a more radical version of Islam that does not agree with German values.
One of the approved mosques is the Selimiye Mosque in Dortmund-Eving. The mosque is located very close to a camp that houses a large number of migrants and is funded by the Turkish government under the Turkish-Islamic Union for Religious Affairs organisation.
The Turkish religious authority was under fire this week when they released a cartoon for children in which they glorified martyrdom. The same authority is connected to the mosques the German government is funding.
Many of the migrants who attend the literacy classes have very low levels of education. Many of the students have only completed a primary school level and some have not attended formal schooling at all and are functionally illiterate, even in their native language. This revelation led at least one German education expert to claim that most new migrants would be dependent on the German welfare state for their entire lives.
Syrian teacher Shmmou confirms that many of the migrants she teaches lack the most basic education saying, “it is not easy to teach these people.” Shmmou taught English at a private school in Syria until she fled the country two years ago and has since been hired by the Society of Intercultural Coexistence to teach migrants German and to give them someone who can speak their language fluently in order to facilitate integration.
Education is one of the key concerns that has emerged out of the migrant crisis. Chancellor Angela Merkel and others promised that migrants would be a new source of wealth as they would bring skills to help boost the German economy and it’s ageing population.
The government has become more and more desperate to find ways to educate migrants in order that they can participate in German society, but many experts believe that migrants and their children may constitute a huge drain on European countries’ welfare systems. They may end up being a “lost generation,” unable to hold down meaningful work or participate in society.

This is a scandal.
That it is, but it is also typical of the actions of our leftist governments.
Trudeau: ISIS Just ‘Terrorists’ And ‘Thugs,’ Not A State
CALGARY — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau used strong language in condemning the Islamic State in a television interview Tuesday.
“There’s no question that ISIS are not a state,” Trudeau told Global Television in Calgary. “The so-called Islamic State are terrorists, criminals, thugs, murderers of innocents and children and there’s a lot of labels for them.”
The prime minister continued to reject suggestions that Canada is at war with the Islamic State, which has taken responsibility for recent bombings in Brussels that killed more than 30 people and attacks in Paris four months ago that left 130 dead.
He said the word war has been thrown around too much and “conjures up” images of one army fighting another.
“What matters to me is that we are doing everything we can to contribute to the global fight against them and by stepping up our involvement in training, in empowering local people to actually be able to hold against ISIL, to be able to take back their homes and their land — that’s how Canada can best help them.”
Canada has withdrawn its fighter jets from the American-led coalition bombing ISIL in Iraq and Syria. But it tripled the number of Canadian special forces trainers in northern Iraq, buttressed intelligence gathering assets and also increased federal spending on efforts to help displaced civilians.
After the most recent attacks in Belgium, French Prime Minister Manuel Valls used the term following a crisis meeting called by French President Francois Hollande.
“We are at war,” said Valls. “We have been subjected for the last few months in Europe to acts of war.”
Added Hollande: “This war will be long.”

CBC – MONTREAL RCMP search homes of CEGEP Maisonneuve students believed to have joined ISIS in 2015
Families of the student thought to be in Syria still in contact with them, sources tell Radio-Canada
Last week, RCMP investigators searched the homes of the four CEGEP Collège de Maisonneuve students who left to join ISIS in January 2015, Radio-Canada has learned.
The RCMP confiscated computers and cell phones.
The father of one of the students told Radio-Canada that he was surprised by the search but allowed the RCMP to conduct its investigation.
He said he hopes the timing shows that the RCMP is making progress in its investigation, and he hopes that will lead to find and arresting the people who radicalized his son.
The man said he is still in regular contact with his son, who has told him he is continuing his medical studies in Syria.
Sources have told Radio-Canada that all of the parents whose children are believed to have fled to Syria have had contact with them.
The RCMP has not commented on the investigation.
