1. Sandwell Council will not provide housing for Syrian refugees

Syrian refugees will not be offered accommodation in Sandwell in the West Midlands, after the council leader said local residents must come first.

Darren Cooper said 6,000 people were already on the housing waiting list, meaning the authority could not find space for families fleeing war.

Other West Midlands authorities, including Birmingham and Coventry city councils, say they will help refugees.

However, Mr Cooper said his council had no provisions to support more arrivals.

“It isn’t based on any kind of bigoted ideology, it’s about practicality and capacity,” he said.

3. Highly suspicious Synagogue fire in muslim part of New Jersey ruled not suspicious by authorities who routinely lie about Islamic terrorism in the US

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — An extra-alarm fire gutted a historic synagogue in New Brunswick, New Jersey Friday afternoon.

The fire broke out around 4:30 p.m. at Congregation Poile Zedek, an Orthodox Ashkenazic synagogue at 145 Neilson St., near Bayard Street, in New Brunswick, officials told CBS2. The blaze was later raised to extra alarms, and surrounding buildings had to be evacuated, Joe Biermann reported from Chopper 2.

As CBS2’s Jessica Schneider reported, blocks around the synagogue were still filled with fire trucks at 9 p.m. The fire was out by then, but the pain was just beginning for members of this synagogue — who said all but one of their sacred Torah scrolls went up in flames along with the building itself.

  1. Regarding #3, New Brunswick,NJ synagogue fire – I have some familiarity with the locale, having lived in the area during the 60’s-80’s and visited often since.

Interesting that the linked CBS2 video report by Jessica Schneider suggests (ff :43) ” no services were scheduled there” the evening of the fire (10/23)…yet, that means that no Friday evening services would have been planned at an orthodox synagogue. Quoting from the linked written article:

““Some of the members of the synagogue coming by – of course, this is Friday evening; they’re getting ready for Shabbos services – obviously, this looked shocked, and this is a big loss for their community,” Patrick Murray of Monmouth University polling told WCBS 880.”

Note the highlighted contradiction. The fire broke out around 4:30 p.m, an hour and a half before shabbat….sunset was 6:04 p.m. If one was to consider/anticipate when the synagogue would be occupied for shabbat services, the timing of this fire looks suspicious.

FWIW, New Brunswick is in central NJ, Middlesex County and home to Rutgers University. New Brunswick is a mere stones throw (across a bridge over the Raritan River ) from the small (one square mile) town of Highland Park – a largely Jewish town with kosher restaurants and several synagogues (as well as churches). The town has several shoppes on the main avenue which close at sunset Friday through sunset Saturday to honor shabbat/ Halakhah.
A few years ago (2011), there was another widely reported attack (jihad) in Highland Park characterized as Kristallnacht in NJ during which vandals hurled bricks through the plate glass windows of a kosher restaurant, a kosher pizza shop, two Judaica stores, and a Jewish-owned hardware store.
