Berlin (AFP) – Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday said the influx of asylum seekers into Germany was part of the fallout from globalisation, which, she noted, had served Germany well in terms of exports and jobs.
Addressing a congress of the giant IG Metall metalworkers’ union in Frankfurt, Merkel said: “Your experience of globalisation has, until now, basically been: our economy goes into other countries, builds factories, sells products and the results are positive for German employment and business.”

The migrants, many of whom were previously living in the tent camp in Calais, are bussed into the hamlet of Longford to be temporarily housed at the Heathrow Lodge and in surrounding houses used by the hotel.
Home to a few hundred locals, the villagers see the steady arrival as just the latest encroachment.

Sweden is being overwhelmed in its efforts to absorb a record number of asylum seekers looking for refuge inside its borders.
The country’s migration agency on Thursday raised its forecast to as many as 190,000 people arriving this year and 170,000 people in 2016. The agency warned costs will rise to 60 billion kronor ($7 billion) next year, double its earlier forecast, and reach about 70 billion kronor annually through 2019.
“The current refugee situation lacks an equivalent in modern times,” said Anders Danielsson, director general of the agency. “We see people literally walking through Europe.”

GENEVA/PRAGUE (Reuters) – U.N. human rights chief Zeid Ra’ad al-Hussein accused the Czech Republic on Thursday of committing systematic human rights violations by detaining refugees for up to 90 days and strip-searching them for money to pay for their own detention.
Human rights violations “appear to be an integral part of a policy by the Czech Government designed to deter migrants and refugees from entering the country or staying there,” he said in a statement.
The Czech Republic lies to the north of the main migration routes taking refugees through the Balkans to Germany. It has seen only a fraction of the hundreds of thousands passing through Hungary and Austria on their flight from war or poverty.

Police arrived at the scene shortly after 10am and were forced to shoot the attacker, allegedly a former pupil in his 20s, after he went to attack police.
The assailant used ‘a number of knife-like weapons’ to attack students and teachers in the school cafeteria and in classrooms.
‘One of my friends opened the door and there’s a man dressed in black with a Star Wars mask and a large black sword,’ a student witness told Sveriges Television.
The victims and the masked attacker were all rushed to the Norra Alvsborgs Lanssjukhus hospital in Trollhättan, an industrial town of around 50,000 inhabitants.

Attorney Mohsen al-Bahnasy says so many fellow lawyers have been arrested or charged in recent months that he now spends much of his time defending them in court.
One of the lawyers he represents is accused of distributing leaflets supporting the Muslim Brotherhood, the Islamist group banned by the government of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. According to Bahnasy, his client, a lawyer, was in a police station with his own clients at the time of the alleged crime. Bahnasy says the lawyer, like others deemed sympathetic to the Brotherhood, has never distributed such leaflets and is the victim of trumped-up charges.
An official in the police station said that the accused lawyer had supported several Brotherhood protests. “It is not logical that we would accuse him of inciting protests” if he had not done so, the official said.

In a speech to a law association, Erdogan also repeated his calls to train and equip more Syrian rebels against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, and to set up a safe zone to protect displaced civilians – a plan which has long failed to find support from Western allies.

CAIRO (Reuters) – At least 20 Houthi militia fighters were killed in heavy clashes in Yemen’s third-largest city Taiz on Thursday, a day after they pounded it with rockets, forces loyal to the government said.
Taiz, considered Yemen’s cultural capital, has suffered huge destruction since becoming a main battleground in the conflict between government supporters and the Iran-allied Houthis, who are backed by forces loyal to former president Ali Abdullah Saleh. It is currently divided between the two sides.
The Houthis and Saleh’s forces are battling a Saudi-led coalition which is trying to restore the government of Yemen’s current president, Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, which is now based in the southern port of Aden.
Forces loyal to Hadi killed at least 20 Houthis and Saleh loyalists in Taiz, their commanders said. Nobody from the Houthis was available to confirm the death toll.

Israel is unusually tight-lipped about the military coordination, a reticence that officials and experts say stems in part from reluctance to signal any significant strategic shift away from the United States, its key ally but one that has reduced Middle East engagements as Russia steps up its own.
In a three-week-old campaign, Russian aircraft have backed up Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s troops as they try to regain ground lost to rebels during a civil war raging since 2011.
Russia has also sent in advanced air defense systems, fuelling concern that its forces could accidentally clash with jets sent by Israel or the U.S.-led coalition.

Once again demonstrating its thinly veiled anti-Semitism and appeasement of Muslims, UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) passed a resolution Wednesday saying that the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron and Rachel’s Tomb in Bethlehem were no longer Jewish sites but were actually Muslim sites.
An initial draft of the resolution had also called for the Kotel (Western Wall) to be listed as an Islamic site – or more specifically as an “extension of the AlAqsa Mosque” – but that detail was hastily withdrawn after widespread condemnation, including from UNESCO’s own Director-General.
A major strategy of the Palestinians in their goal of ultimately taking over all of Israel is to deny Jewish ties to the land. They do this by de-legitimizing the Jewish connection to the site and/or destroying Jewish Holy sites. That’s why they hold on to the Temple Mount, destroying artifacts. “A mayor in the south of France has been accused of turning his city into a laboratory of the far right. But what is driving Robert Menard and why is he becoming the most controversial mayor in the country?
Robert Menard used to be a journalist, a socialist and the outspoken founder of an international press group, Reporters Without Borders. But 18 months ago he caused shockwaves by winning the town hall of Beziers, a city of more than 71,000, on a far-right ticket.
Although he is not Front National himself he came to power with the party’s support, and this is now the biggest extreme-right stronghold in France. There are plenty of opponents trying to tear the stronghold down though.
The evening I attend a council meeting, protesters jump up and unfurl posters. “Menard, Beziers doesn’t belong to you!” reads one. “We Welcome Refugees!” says another. Many more people are trying to squeeze their way through the heavy wooden doors into the chamber, but policemen hold them back.
Unable to bring the meeting to order, the mayor calls a vote on excluding the media and members of the public. It passes and I am obliged to leave, but fierce arguments are continuing in the courtyard outside.
One of the reasons for the anger is the latest issue of the municipal magazine, which carries on its front cover a news agency photo of refugees in Macedonia and a train with a sign saying “Beziers 3,865km”. Another sign in the train window says, “Free schools, accommodation, and benefits for all” and the headline screams “They Are Coming!”
Agence France-Presse sued the mayor and the town hall in Beziers for misusing its photograph, and accused the mayor of scaremongering. Outside the council meeting copies of the magazine have been torn to shreds and strewn all over the floor like confetti.
When I next catch up with Robert Menard in a flower market on Beziers’ main street he seems unperturbed. “We didn’t get a chance to chat the other night”, he laughs. “It was all a bit rock ‘n roll wasn’t it?”
Just before World War One Beziers grew “fabulously rich” thanks to the surrounding vineyards, he says, because they proved resistant to a disease that ruined the grape harvest elsewhere.
But Beziers is now one of the poorest cities in the country – one third of the population lives below the poverty line – and Menard has vowed to return it to its former glory.
A lot of his efforts have focused on petty crime and immigration.
He has doubled the number of municipal police, and issued them earlier this year with semi-automatic pistols – even though their main concerns are minor offences and traffic violations, and they leave serious crimes and investigations to the police nationale.
At the same time, the town was plastered with giant posters of handguns boasting “From now on police officers have a new friend”. “A police force which is armed gets respect,” Menard tells me.
“A few years ago we had non-stop anti-social behaviour,” says a passer-by clutching a briefcase. “There were fights, people taking drugs on those benches. And for years no-one did anything. Since M. Menard has come, all that’s disappeared, and the tourists have come back.”
Menard is also responsible for a Singapore-style ban on spitting and a curfew on children in the streets at night. But some accuse him of “social cleansing” and say his initiatives target the poor.
And there has been ban on satellite dishes, and hanging out washing in the town centre. “This is the south of France!” says Sofia, a young web designer. “What does he expect people to do with wet clothes? Not everyone can afford a tumble dryer.”
Menard’s tough line on immigration is illustrated not only by the “They are coming!” headline but also by a now notorious video.
It shows Menard marching into an apartment block in one of Beziers’ most deprived neighbourhoods, La Deveze. He has a blunt message for some newly arrived Syrian families there – they’re not welcome in his town.
At first sight the video looks like a spoof. The diminutive mayor is wearing his red, white and blue sash, flanked by burly police in bulletproof vests. There is also a bespectacled translator who speaks a strangulated English reminiscent of the TV comedy Monty Python.
But Menard is not joking. He berates a dazed-looking young Syrian man in a yellow T-shirt for breaking into the flat and “stealing the water and electricity”.
“If you don’t leave, the police will make you,” Menard tells the man, his wife and a small child before moving on to other flats where seven other Syrian families are squatting.
Ultimately the mayor’s attempt to expel the refugees was blocked, as evictions must be ordered by a court. What’s more the rent-controlled flats aren’t under his jurisdiction. And he said the Syrian children wouldn’t be allowed into local schools – if this happened it would be a violation of French law.
The video went viral in France. Some approved while others were appalled and accused him of heartlessness – an accusation he rejects. He says his twinning of Beziers with the largely Christian community of Maaloula near Damascus proves he is not against helping Syrians.
“I liked what you did in la Deveze,” one stallholder told Menard as he and I walked through the flower market. “I watched it four times!”
At the same block of flats, a few weeks after the video was filmed, I meet Hakim, the first man who opened the door in the video. He tells me he was bewildered as well as frightened.
“I told him I have children – where are we supposed to go?” he says.
Karim Zenouti, the vice-president of the Beziers mosque, says the flats occupied by the Syrians have been empty for several years.
“We know that the mayor is trying to seduce his electorate, the Front National supporters,” he says. “And what are the Frontistes doing? They are spreading fear.”
Menard portrays himself as a straight-talker, fighting what he sees as a hypocritical political establishment. His sense of being an outsider may come from his roots in a pied-noir family – the name given to European settlers who once lived in North Africa.
He was nine in 1962 when Algeria became a sovereign state and the family had to leave for France.
Jean Michel du Plaa, who heads the socialist group in Beziers, argues that Menard has moved even further to the right than the Front National and its leader.
“Marine Le Pen tried to detoxify the Front National,” he says “but Robert Menard on the contrary is very comfortable with the extreme of the extreme right.”
Beziers has become a political laboratory, he says, and citizens feel “like guinea pigs or lab rats”.
Some complain Menard is publicity mad and only cares about le buzz or making headlines. They now call him “the mayor of Buzziers”.
Others say there’s method in his madness and that his in-your-face, far-right policies may help to make the Front National look moderate on issues like security and immigration. And that just might boost Marine Le Pen’s chances in her 2017 bid for the French Presidency.”

PAKISTAN – Suicide bomber ‘kills at least 10’ at SW Pakistan Shiite mosque
A suicide bomber blew himself up in a mosque killing at least 10 Shiite minority Muslims and wounding 12 others in a remote southwestern Pakistani town on Thursday, officials said.
The attack took place as Shiites gathered at the mosque to observe the holy month of Moharram in the town of Chalgari in restive Baluchistan, some 170 kilometres (105 miles) southeast of the provincial capital, Quetta.
“At least 10 people were killed and 12 others were wounded after a suicide bomber blew himself up at a Shiite mosque,” provincial home minister Sarfraz Bugti told AFP.
Local administration official Mohammad Waseem confirmed the attack and death toll.
Bugti said there were six children between 10 and 12 years old among the dead and that some women had also died.
He added that the death toll may rise.
Waseem said the suspected suicide bomber appeared to be about 18 years old and was wearing a woman’s burqa, an all enveloping head-to-toe garment.
Sectarian violence — in particular that carried out by Sunni militants against Shiites, who make up roughly 20 percent of Pakistan’s population of 200 million — has claimed thousands of lives in the country over the past decade.
Many of the worst atrocities have taken place in the southwestern province of Baluchistan, home to some 200,000 Shiites.
Shiite gatherings and processions during Moharram mark Hussain’s martyrdom in the Battle of Karbala, Iraq, in 680 AD.
Hussain is equally revered by Sunnis, but hardliners oppose the public mourning of his martyrdom.

Their destination is Germany or Scandinavia, sometimes France or the UK. Some of them still arrive from Libya. Since the beginning of January, more than 620,000 have arrived by sea alone. There will undoubtedly be many more: a leaked secret document estimates that by the end of December, there might be 1.5 million.
Journalists in Western Europe continue to depict them as “refugees” fleeing war in Syria. The description is false. According to statistics released by the European Union, only twenty-five percent of them come from Syria; the true number is probably lower. The Syrian government sells passports and birth certificates at affordable prices. The vast majority of migrants come from other countries: Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Eritrea, Somalia, and Nigeria.
Many do not seem to have left in a hurry. Many bring new high-end smartphones and large sums of cash, ten or twenty thousand euros, sometimes more. Many have no passports, no ID, and refuse to give fingerprints.
Whenever people flee to survive, the men come with whole families: women, children, elders. Here, instead, more than 75% of those who arrive are men under 50; few are women, children or elders.

Ever since clashes between the Turkish army and the Kurdish PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) intensified in late July, the pressure of the government against the Kurdish media, including bans on Kurdish news outlets as well as psychical violence against journalists, have become increasingly widespread.
On October 4, for instance, Turkish police in the Kurdish province of Diyarbakir detained two Kurdish journalists: Murat Demir of Ozgur Gun TV (Free Day TV) and Serhat Yuce of Dicle News Agency. The police seized their cameras and equipment. A police officer put a gun to Yuce’s head and took both into custody. The journalists were released after five hours, but fined for “violating the curfew” imposed on the town.
On October 6, Turkish police abducted Filiz Zeyrek, a female journalist working for the Kurdish JINHA (Women’s News Agency), in the southern province of Adana and drove her around for half an hour while interrogating and photographing her. The police then released her at a park.
Earlier, on September 28, Turkish police armed with assault rifles raided the offices of the Dicle News Agency (DIHA), the newspaper Azadiya Welat (Freedom of the Country), Aram Publishing House and the Kurdi-Der (Kurdish Language Association) in Diyarbakir, and arrested 32 journalists. The police seized their ID cards and phones, and eventually took the journalists to police headquarters. One of the reporters, Dicle Muftuoglu, said the police broke down the door, did not show a search warrant and did not allow the journalists to call their lawyers. The journalists were released late at night.

Islamic State supporters in Germany have been charged with looting churches and schools to fund the self-declared Caliphate and its jihad.
A gang of eight men were arrested in the city of Cologne. From 2011-2014 they are alleged to have stolen €19,000-worth of goods.
Prosecutors alleged they stole collection boxes, crosses and objects “dedicated to church services and religious veneration.” From schools they allegedly stole laptops and money.
The leader of the gang, a 26-year old Moroccan man, also uploaded a video to YouTube featuring him and others calling on Muslims to fight for the Islamic State.
It is not known how much of the funds reached the Islamic State in Syria.
In another instance of assaults on Christians by Islamist migrants, in a refugee-camp in Hamburg a 24 year old Iranian convert to Christianity was brutally beaten by Afghan man with a telescopic baton.

Dr. Hamish de Bretton-Gordon was formerly commander of Britain’s Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) regiment. He told the Global Resilience Conference in London it is “only a matter of time” before ISIS launches an attack on a major city with weapons of mass destruction.
“ISIS have made it known they want to acquire weapons of mass destruction,” he said. “They run a sophisticated and successful psychological warfare campaign and are now basing that on CBRN weaponry – the ultimate weapon in the terrorist arsenal.”

TURKEY – Gov’t rejects probe into Turkey’s role in Syrian chemical attack
Two deputies from the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) have claimed that the government is against investigating Turkey’s role in sending toxic sarin gas which was used in an attack on civilians in Syria in 2013 and in which over 1,300 Syrians were killed.
CHP deputies Eren Erdem and Ali Seker held a press conference in Istanbul on Wednesday in which they claimed the investigation into allegations regarding Turkey’s involvement in the procurement of sarin gas which was used in the chemical attack on a civil population and delivered to the terrorist Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) to enable the attack was derailed.
[…]the prosecutor’s office conducted detailed technical surveillance and found that an al-Qaeda militant, Hayyam Kasap, acquired sarin, adding: “Wiretapped phone conversations reveal the process of procuring the gas at specific addresses as well as the process of procuring the rockets that would fire the capsules containing the toxic gas. However, despite such solid evidence there has been no arrest in the case. Thirteen individuals were arrested during the first stage of the investigation but were later released, refuting government claims that it is fighting terrorism,” Erdem noted.

The purpose of the attack was allegedly to provoke a US military operation in Syria which would topple the Assad regime in line with the political agenda of then-Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his government.
However, Erdem is not the only figure who has accused Turkey of possible involvement in the gas attack. Pulitzer Prize winner and journalist, Seymour M. Hersh, argued in an article published in 2014 that M?T was involved with extremist Syrian groups fighting against the Assad regime.
In his article, Hersh said Assad was not behind the attack, as claimed by the US and Europe, but that Turkish-Syrian opposition collaboration was trying to provoke a US intervention in Syria in order to bring down the Assad regime.

He told President Barack Obama in a telephone call on Tuesday he would honor a campaign pledge to do so. Canada has six jets bombing ISIS targets in Iraq.
“I committed that we would continue to engage in a responsible way that understands how Canada has a role to play in the fight against ISIL,” Trudeau told media. “[Obama] understands the commitments I’ve made around ending the combat mission.”

One of the Chairman’s top aides said that he did not trust the reports coming out of the State Department and the CIA, then controlled by Clinton loyalist Leon Panetta. When it was clear that the Clintonites had gotten their war on, an irritated Secretary of Defense Gates resigned after failing to stop Hillary’s war and was replaced by Panetta.
As the State Department set the military agenda, the Pentagon retaliated by taking over the diplomatic agenda attempting to arrange a ceasefire with the Gaddafi regime over Hillary’s objections.
Hillary was using the State Department to start a war while the military was trying to use diplomacy to stop a war. The Pentagon lost the power struggle and one of her minions took over the military to make sure that the Muslim Brotherhood’s Jihadists would be able to overrun another country.
This one is damning especially to those who don’t remember what happened.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is already reaping diplomatic dividends from the disastrous nuclear deal it entered into last July with the P-5 + 1 nations (the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Russia, China and Germany). Iranian President Hassan Rouhani will be visiting Rome Italy next month, marking his first trip to a European Union capital. His trip will include a meeting with Pope Francis. Rouhani will then be moving on to Paris. It is a victory lap by the president of a regime that got virtually everything it wanted in the deal, and is choosing selectively which portions of the deal it will ignore.
The so-called “international community,” led by appeaser-in-chief Barack Obama, is welcoming the Iranian regime back into the “community of nations” as if its leaders were akin to the prodigal son in the famous parable. However, unlike the prodigal son, Iran’s leaders remain defiant and unrepentant.
Rouhani’s boss, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, finally approved the nuclear deal, but with conditions that delay Iran’s implementation of its obligations to de-commission the heavy water Arak reactor and to send enriched uranium abroad. “Any action regarding Arak (reactor) and dispatching uranium abroad … will take place after the PMD (possible military dimensions) file is closed,” Khamenei wrote in a letter to Rouhani. In essence, he is holding the deal hostage until United Nations inspectors clear the Iranian regime of any suspicion of engaging in past research involving nuclear weapons development, based on the results of Iran’s own self-inspection. Khamenei also insisted, as he has done previously, that the U.S. and other countries announce the elimination of sanctions against Iran, not just their suspension as the nuclear deal actually calls for.

France’s plan to use its position at the UN Security Council to bring about the deployment of international monitors to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem has been condemned by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his ministers as biased, unhelpful and detached from reality.
Certainly it is all those things. But France’s decision to use its diplomatic position to advance a plan which if implemented would end Israeli sovereignty over Judaism’s holiest site is first and foremost a French act of aggression against the Jewish state.

German Minister of Interior Thomas de Maiziere gave a statement to the press following his visit to a refugee registration centre in Heidelberg on Thursday, in which he promised a tough response to the radical right-wing minority, who have condemned refugees in a “bestialised tongue” and acting violently to those seeking refuge in Germany. Words of hatred “sows the seeds for attacks against asylum seekers,” he added.

“German officials have arrested three far-right extremists and seized explosive material that could be used in attacks on migrants. The authorities say right-wing groups plan to intensify their anti-refugee violence.
German police arrested the right-wing extremists on Wednesday evening in a series of raids on 12 locations, according to Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann. They also seized several kilograms of fireworks from them.
During a visit to a refugee shelter in the southern German city of Bamberg , the country’s Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere said the initial evidence indicated that the security officials “might have prevented attacks or other crimes” against migrants.
Anti-immigrant groups have planned a demonstration in front of a migrant shelter in Bamberg later this month, but the authorities say they are seeking to ban the event…”

In classic colonialism, the colonized didn’t roll out the welcome wagon for their colonizers. But the Muslim colonization of Europe is certainly going that way. Here’s a German architect’s plan, laid out in the Die Welt newspaper, for building a New Aleppo. (Because battling Muslim gangs shot the old one up.)
Now most refugees are still living in shelters. But soon they will need their own apartments. Planners are already developing concepts – up to an entire city with a mosque in the center.
Because having a mosque in the center is why the old Aleppo is on fire. So let’s learn nothing from history.

CAIR’s foundation was built upon anti-Israel activists seeking to tear apart Western society. Today’s CAIR is no different. CAIR or the Council on American-Islamic Relations was established in June 1994 as being part of the American Palestine Committee, a terrorist umbrella group headed by then-global head of Hamas, Mousa Abu Marzook. The people who founded CAIR, including present National Executive Director Nihad Awad, were previously leaders of the Islamic Association for Palestine (IAP), a now defunct organization that was at the time the American propaganda wing of Hamas and also one of the groups that made up the Palestine Committee.
CAIR-Florida, like those who established its parent organization, is made up of anti-Israel radicals.

The People’s Republic of China, represented by the China Atomic Energy Authority (CAEA), the United States of America, represented by the Department of Energy (DOE), and the Islamic Republic of Iran, represented by the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), met in Vienna on September 14, 2015 to discuss the future steps of the modernization of the Arak reactor as contemplated in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action of July 14, 2015 (JCPOA) and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231.
Recognizing the importance of nonproliferation, nuclear security, and nuclear safety and the imperative of international cooperation in achieving these objectives, CAEA, DOE, and AEOI recalled that, in accordance with Annex I to the JCPOA, Iran is to take the leadership role as the owner of and project manager for the Arak modernization project (the Project), with support from the other JCPOA participants.
CAEA, DOE, and AEOI further recalled that China, France, Germany, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom, and the United States, together with the High Representative of the European Union for Common Foreign and Security Policy (together, the E3/EU+3), committed to establish before Implementation Day a Working Group to assume their respective roles in the Project with the aim of facilitating the Project, consistent with their national laws.
