  1. American reggae artist Matthew Paul Miller who performs under the Hebrew name “Matisyahu” refused to sign a political statement regarding Israel in order to perform this week at a concert in Spain. He claims that he is the only artist at the Spanish Reggae festival who concert organizers asked to sign a political statement. He applied his style and music to Jeremiah’s words. Another artist sang about the Lion of Judah, but did not issue a political statement.
“If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand wither, let my tongue stick to my palate if I cease to think of you, if I do not keep Jerusalem in memory even at my happiest hour.”
The psalm is said to have been written during the Babylonian Exile by Jeremiah expressing the desire of the Israelites to return to Jerusalem.

  2. Police: 3 arrested in deaths of Bangladeshi bloggers (CNN, Aug 18, 2015)

“Police in Bangladesh have arrested three suspects — *including a British* citizen — in connection with the killings of two prominent bloggers, Avijit Roy and Anant Bijoy Das.

The suspects are suspected Islamist hardliners belonging a group known as “Ansarullah Bangla Team,” more commonly referred to as Ansar Bangla. Authorities named the British suspect as 58-year-old Touhidur Rahman.

According to Rahman’s passport, he was in the United Kingdom from 1990 to 2005, said police spokesman Maj. Gen. Maksudul Alam.

Rahman is suspected to be the main planner behind the bloggers’ killings, Alam told CNN. The two other suspects were identified as Bangladeshi citizens Sadeq Ali Mithu and Aminul Mollik.

Roy and Das are among at least four bloggers who posted online pieces critical of Islam and were killed this year in Bangladesh….”

  3. Germany to expect 750,000 refugees in 2015 – reports (BBC, Aug 18, 2015)

“The number of refugees seeking asylum in Germany could surge to 750,000 this year, according to reports citing official projections. The government in Berlin had earlier forecast that 450,000 asylum seekers could arrive in 2015, but is now set to increase that to 650,000 or higher. Germany has seen a wave of migration from Syria and the Balkans.

UN High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres said more countries in Europe should share the burden. “It is unsustainable in the long run that only two EU countries, Germany and Sweden, take in the majority of refugees,” he told German daily Die Welt. Up to 80,000 people, many of them Syrians, are expected to seek asylum in Sweden this year, but Germany has become the most popular destination…”

  4. Thousands of Hungary Police to Guard Against Migrant Influx (abcnews, Aug 18, 2015)

“Hungary will send several thousand police officers to the southern border with Serbia in a new effort to stem the rising flow of migrants, the government said Tuesday.

Hungary is “under an organized attack” by human traffickers who aren’t only transporting migrants but instructing them about how to abuse the European Union’s refugee system, said Janos Lazar, Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s chief of staff.

Lazar said police units of “border hunters” would be organized to step up against the “increasingly aggressive migrants arriving with more resolute demands.”

Around 130,000 migrants have reached Hungary this year, already about three times as many as in 2014. Most request asylum but quickly leave for richer countries in the EU like Germany and Sweden.

Lazar said that planned penal code amendments would soon make illegal border crossings and cutting through the 4-meter (13-foot) high fence being built on the 174-kilometer (109-mile) border with Serbia punishable by several years in prison. A special parliamentary session to approve the amendments could be held before the end of August, Lazar added.

Lazar reiterated that the first phase of the temporary border fence — several layers of razor wire rolls laid out near ground level— would be completed by the end of the month and said that construction of the second, higher fence was going “full steam ahead.”

Police have been detaining an average of 1,500 migrants a day for the past several weeks, including 2,087 on Sunday, the highest figure so far this year.”

  6. ISIS ‘Mein Kampf’ discovered in Pakistan; promises final solution in 2020

Remember no one bbelieved Hitler when he published Mein Kampf now the same type of people are refusing to believe ISIS and others when they openly state their goal.

The document also says that they are getting ready to invade India and cause a major war that is suppose to unite the Islamic world and result in the major war that will leave Islam in charge around the world.

    • A point I forgot to mention the latest data I have available says that India has 110 nuclear warheads, personally I think they have several multiples of that since they are faced with nuclear armed enemies on two sides. ISIS wants to get their hands on the Pakistani warheads as well as those in India. This gives them a major weapon in their struggle with the Shiites.

  7. Up to 150 people drowned in a river or were shot dead fleeing Boko Haram gunmen who raided a remote village in Nigeria’s north-eastern Yobe state, locals said on Tuesday.

Dozens of militants arrived on motorcycles and a car on Thursday last week and opened fire, scattering terrified residents of Kukuwa-Gari.

“They opened fire instantly, which forced residents to flee. They shot a number of people. Unfortunately many residents who tried to flee plunged into the river which is full from the rain. Many drowned,” Modu Balumi, a resident of the village told AFP.

“By our latest toll we have 150 people either (shot dead) or drowned in the attack. The gunmen deliberately killed a fisherman who tried to save drowning residents of the village.”

Mr Balumi said the bodies of many of the drowned were picked out by locals several miles away.

News of the attack was slow to emerge because the militants have destroyed telecom masts around the village, around 50 kilometres (30 miles) from Yobe State capital Damaturu, since the insurgency began in 2009.

“Boko Haram gunmen attacked our village on Thursday which led to the deaths of around 150 people. Most of the victims died in the river while trying to escape. The gunmen opened fire on the village forcing people to run to safety,” Bukar Tijjani, another villager, told AFP.

“Most residents, particularly women and children, ran towards the river in confusion. They were pursued by the gunmen, who kept firing at them. In the frantic effort to escape they jumped into the river, which was full to the brim.”

A local government official confirmed the attack but put the death toll much lower, at around 50.

    – When bigots use ISIS atrocities to smear all Muslims

  12. I won’t be online much for the next couple weeks. I’ll drop in whenever I can to read what you write, but I probably won’t be able to comment much myself.

Won’t be total vacation, though. A close friend who happens to be a Friend – a Quaker!!– has invited me to a series of social functions to explain the dangers of the Iran Deal. They come from all over to vacation in Maine every year.

Militant pacifists against a “diplomatic solution”? We’ll see.

Then I’ll go…wherever. But I’ll be lurking here no matter what.

The Quakers are pretty much the pits.
A delegation went to visit Hitler shortly before the US entered the war. They tried to find a “common sense of things” where they might agree and avoid “discord”. They had a lovely chat. Hitler was really very mild-mannered, nothing like the nasty bully speeches broadcast on radio. Which were “no doubt” the doctored product of warmongers like Churchill.

I found this article in Algemeiner, confirming what I already knew about their abiding hostility to the state of Israel.

Unfriendly ‘Friends’ Defend Iran Deal to US Jews

        Benyamin Korn July 24, 2015
One of the leading voices in the effort to win American Jewish support for the Iran deal is an official of an organization that opposes U.S. aid to Israel and promotes BDS; but he doesn’t mention that when he makes his appeals to the Jewish community. Last week, Bradley Harris co-authored an op-ed that was published in some Jewish weekly newspapers, explaining why Jews and Israel should support the Iran agreement. To demonstrate his Jewish credentials, Harris identified himself as “a member of Har Zion Temple in Penn Valley, Pennsylvania.” He also acknowledged he is an official of the “Friends Committee on National Legislation.” But he didn’t explain what that Committee is. He should have, because it is very relevant to the advice he is giving about Iran.

For example, his Committee’s website bluntly declares: “FCNL opposes U.S. military aid to Israel and supports humanitarian and development aid to the region. We call on the Obama administration and Congress to urge Israel to immediately lift the blockade on Gaza…” Does that sound like an organization that cares about Israel’s well-being?

According to Harris, the only alternative to this agreement is war with Iran, so therefore “Israel’s security is best served by the agreement,” and the rejection of the deal equals “threatening the lives of civilians in Israel.” Can we rely on the judgement of Harris and his colleagues at the Friends Committee? Let’s take a look at the Friends’ record on Israel and see if they have shown good judgment in the past.

The Friends Committee on National Legislation is part of the American Friends Service Committee, which is the foreign policy arm of the Quakers. As a matter of religious principle, the Quakers are pacifists, but their pacifism took a peculiar turn in the 1960s.

I saw this transformation up close, because in those days I was a student at a leading Quaker prep school in Philadelphia. In those heady times for teenage rebels and armchair revolutionaries, Third World national liberation movements were all the rage among the Quakers.

The Friends even came up with a convoluted way of interpreting Western policies in the underdeveloped world as the equivalent of violence, therefore justifying terrorism against Western targets as a kind of self-defense.

The Arab cause in general, and the Palestinian cause in particular, became especially popular among the Friends. As early as 1973, the Quakers urged a halt to U.S. aid to Israel. The following year, they established a “Community Information and Legal Aid Center” in Jerusalem, which provided legal assistance to PLO supporters.

They also began bringing pro-PLO activists to the United States for speaking tours. One was Raymonda Tawil, who when asked if she condemned Palestinian terrorists who “machine-gunned women and children,” replied, “The Israelis drive us to it. We have no alternative.” Another Quaker speaker was Terre Fleener, who spent five years in an Israeli prison for photographing potential targets for Arab terrorists. The Friends have sponsored a few Israeli speakers, too – but only a certain kind of Israeli, such as the extremist Gideon Spiro, who has compared Israeli soldiers to Nazis and asserted that “every settler is a legitimate target for Palestinian resistance fighters.”

The Friends were among the first to divest from Israel. In 2012, the Quaker Friends Fiduciary Corporation voted to divest from Hewlett-Packard, because it provided technology consulting to the Israeli Navy. Not to “settlers.” Not to “the occupation.” To the Israeli navy, whose purpose is to help safeguard Israel’s very existence.

From there, it was a short leap for the Friends to the leadership of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement. The American Friends Service Committee even sponsored a “We Divest Campaign Student Leadership Team Summer Training Institute,” a kind of summer camp in upstate New York to incubate the BDS campus campaign.

If all of the above were not sufficient to call into question the soundness of Quaker judgement in such matters, recall that the American Friends Service Committee sponsored a dinner with then-Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in New York City in September 2007. The New York Times reported that the event was a “friendly, even warm exchange” with the world’s most prominent Jew-hater.

The Friends’ general secretary, Mary Ellen McNish, told the Times that the event would facilitate “the path of dialogue.” Malcolm Hoenlein, executive vice chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, responded that the “very presence” of the Quakers and others at the dinner “gives [Ahmedinijad] respectability.”

Hoenlein was right. What the Friends have been doing since the 1970s, and what their staff member Bradley Harris is doing now, is giving respectability to enemies of Israel. Whether promoting anti-Israel speakers, lobbying to choke off Israel’s weapons and let Hamas import whatever military material it wants, or claiming that the Iranian regime can be trusted to give up its nuclear program, the Friends have demonstrated yet again that their judgement and advice on matters affecting Israel cannot be trusted.

  14. Fatah’s military wing in Gaza claims 3.5 km tunnel into Israel is ready for next war

Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades fighter: “There will be a qualitative change for the unit [named after] Martyrdom-seeker Nabil Mas’oud in the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, by using attack tunnels against the Zionist entity. We will now go through one of those tunnels to see what the Martyrs’ Brigades is preparing for this occupation (i.e., Israel)…”

Iranian TV reporter: “Here is the first tunnel… When we met the Ribat [Islamic] fighters in this tunnel, they said that the weapons in their hands and their preparations for confrontation with the Israeli enemy are what give them reason to live.”

Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades fighter: “This tunnel is approximately 3.5 km long and crosses the border between the Gaza Strip and the Zionist enemy. There are tunnels inside [Gaza] through which Jihad fighters pass during war… We spend all our time trying to get money to fulfill our duty concerning our occupied lands and liberate them from the Zionist entity. This is why we are asking [for money]… especially [from] Iran, which is a known long-time supporter of the resistance and the Palestinian cause…”

Iranian TV reporter: “The book of resistance is still open… and its last line will not be written until Palestine is liberated.”
