  1. USA – CALIFORNIA – Two Men Tried to Travel Abroad to Join ISIS: Sources

Two men were arrested Thursday night, one at LAX and one in Orange County by a Joint Terrorism Task Force, the FBI said.

While the sources would not elaborate on specifics, they said the case involved suspects who are trying to travel abroad to join ISIS. The men were expected to be charged Friday in a criminal complaint.

Laura Eimiller, an FBI spokeswoman, said the task force includes agents from the FBI, Anaheim police and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

The FBI has served at least two search warrants in connection with the case, according to NBC News.

Law-enforcement sources told NBC news that there was no local public safety threat.

Like many cases before it, the sources say the unarmed suspects fit a pattern of individuals who have been recruited by ISIS as foreign fighters particularly through social media propaganda.

  2. Cab driver guilty of Iraq bomb murder (BBC, May 21, 2015)

“A cab driver has been found guilty of the murder of a US soldier in Iraq, in a roadside bombing, eight years ago.

Anis Sardar, 38, from Wembley in north-west London, built bombs as part of a conspiracy to kill Americans fighting in the country.

One caused the death of 34-year-old Sergeant First Class Randy Johnson, of 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment.

His conviction in a UK court for his role in the insurgency in Iraq is a “landmark prosecution”, the CPS says.

Sue Hemming, from the Crown Prosecution Service, said it showed international borders were “no barrier” to terrorists in the UK being prosecuted for murder committed anywhere in the world….”

  3. Cambodia takes first Nauru refugees for Australia

CANBERRA — Four refugees rejected by Australia who have agreed to resettle in Cambodia will likely become examples that other refugees will follow, an Australian minister said Friday.

Cambodia has agreed to accept the first four refugees under a A$40 million (US$32 million) four-year agreement it made with Australia nine months ago to resettle asylum seekers held in an Australia-run detention camp on the Pacific island nation of Nauru. Many of the 677 asylum seekers on Nauru have been there for almost two years.

“Twelve towers, 10,000 rooms and 70 restaurants, plus helipads and a full-size convention center: That’s the plan for Abraj Kudai, a complex in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, that’s set to become the world’s largest hotel by room count when it opens in 2017.

  5. Hla Oo’s Blog: Obama The Muslim Is Refusing To Fight Islamic State

(Amir Taheri’s article direct from the NEW YORK POST on 19 May 2015.)

The Obama coalition was marked by confusion about its nature and purpose from the start. Over the past nine months, of the 50-plus members of the coalition, only four have joined the United States in conducting airstrikes. Now, however, even those four have airbrushed themselves out of the picture.

  6. Breaking: Muslim Indian linguist at obscure Saudi Arabian university discovers that all human language derives from Arabic:

The Arabic Origins of English and Indo-European “Military Terms”: A Radical Linguistic Theory Approach

    or here:

…almost all modern English military terms are names of old Arabic weapons that have undergone lexical shift…. there is a radical language from which all human languages stemmed and which has been preserved almost intact in Arabic as the most conservative and productive language, without which it is impossible to interpret such linguistic versatility, fertility, and productivity.

I haven’t looked this over in any detail and don’t have enough knowledge of linguistics in any case, but I know where I would put my money. It is notable that half of Dr. Jassem’s references are to himself.

      • !

He’s a one-man Arabic Origins of Everything industry, and finds time to review Koran translations as well.

His intention is more explicit in ‘The Arabic Origins of “Mandarin Chinese Pronouns”: A Radical Linguistic Theory Approach’

…the results indicate, contrary to Comparative Method claims, that Arabic and (Mandarin) Chinese are genetically related, leading to the postulation of a single, perfect, sudden world language, which may be called radical or root language, from which all human languages descended….

          • Saudi Arabia attack: Islamic State claims Shia mosque bombing

The Islamic State (IS) group says it was behind a suicide bombing on a Shia mosque in Saudi Arabia that killed at least 10 people.

The attack in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province is the first to be claimed by the Saudi branch of IS, which was formally established last November.

The claim was posted on Twitter with an image of the bomber by an account that is a reliable source on the group.

IS has previously threatened to attack Shia Muslims in Saudi Arabia.

Witnesses reported a huge blast at the Imam Ali mosque in the village of al-Qadeeh, in Qatif governorate during Friday prayers.

A doctor at the hospital told the BBC that at least 10 people were killed and about 70 injured, “some very critically”.

        • Allahu akbar. Enough sectarian slaughter in enough countries and more Muslims might begin giving Friday prayers a miss.

  7. Dutch cabinet approves partial ban on Islamic veil in public areas

Schools, hospitals and public transport would be covered by ban, but Dutch prime minister Mark Rutte insists it has no religious background

The Dutch cabinet has approved a proposal for a partial ban on face-covering Islamic veils on public transport and in public areas such as schools and hospitals.

After the cabinet backed a bill by the interior minister, Ronald Plasterk, the government said in a statement on Friday: “Face-covering clothing will in future not be accepted in education and healthcare institutions, government buildings and on public transport.”

The ban would not apply to wearing the burqa or the niqab on the street, only for security reasons or “in specific situations where it is essential for people to be seen”, the Dutch prime minister, Mark Rutte, told journalists after a cabinet meeting.

  8. DAILY MAIL – British girls as young as FIVE dream of becoming jihadi brides, claims police chief

A police chief has claimed to know of British girls as young as five who want to flee the UK to become jihadi brides in Syria.

Simon Hayes, the Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire, claimed that young girls in Portsmouth had expressed wishes to travel to Syria and become jihadi brides.

He said in a televised interview that there are issues within the Portsmouth community of youngsters wishing to flee to ISIS strongholds.

During the BBC interview, he said: ‘I have no malicious criticism of the city council whatsoever.

‘But I do know that there are still, in recent months, young girls in schools in Portsmouth saying that they would wish to become jihadi brides.

‘These are young girls at the ages of five and six so these are problems that are current, that have not been dealt with and we need as a society to deal with it.’

It comes amid growing concerns about the number of teenagers – and particularly young girls – who are travelling to Syria to join ISIS.

There are now around 60 British women and girls who have fled the UK to become jihadi brides – an increase of ten over the past year, experts say.

De-Islamization is the Only Way to Fight ISIS

[…]The United States can’t make the Iraqi army work because Iraq isn’t America. The assumptions about meritocracy, loyalty to comrades and initiative that make our military work are foreign in Iraq and Afghanistan where the fundamental unit is not the nation, but the tribe, clan and group.

[…]Iraq and Syria aren’t countries; they’re collections of quarreling tribes that were forced into an arrangement that included the forms of Western government without any of the substance. When the Europeans left, kingdoms quickly became military juntas. Now the juntas are fighting for survival against Islamic insurgencies that are striving to return the region to what it was in the days of Mohammed.

ISIS is the ultimate decolonization effort. It’s what the left claims that it wants. But real decolonization means stripping away everything the Europeans brought, including constitutions, labor unions and elections. The cities that ISIS controls have been truly decolonized. There is no music, there are no rights, slavery is back and every decision is made by a cleric with a militia or a militia leader with a cleric.

    That’s Mohammed. It’s the Koran. It’s Islam.

ISIS, or something very much like it, was always waiting to reemerge out of the chaos. Before ISIS, there were the Wahhabi armies of the Ikhwan which did most of the same things as ISIS. The British bombed them to pieces in the 1920s and the remainder became the Saudi Arabian National Guard. The insistence on democratic institutions weakened the military juntas holding back Islamist insurgencies. Islamists took power across the region. Where they couldn’t win elections, they went to war. But whether they won on the battlefield or the ballot box, violence and instability followed them.

[…]We have a choice between Islamization and de-Islamization.

[…]But first we must abandon the idea that we need to take sides in Islamic civil wars. Any intervention we undertake should be conditioned on a reciprocal degree of de-Islamization from those governments that we are protecting. Instead of pursuing democracy, we should strengthen non-Islamic and counter-Islamic forces in the Muslim world.

We can’t beat ISIS with Islam and we can’t fight for freedom while endorsing constitutions that make Sharia law into the law of the land in places like Iraq and Libya.

We don’t only need to defeat ISIS. We must defeat the culture that makes ISIS inevitable.

  10. Clinton Document Dump –

Krauthammer : “This whole release is a farce. What is being released now…is stuff that was scrubbed, and cleansed, and decided upon, chosen by her own people, acting in her own interests. Rather than, as should happen, as the law requires to happen, and as happens with other secretaries of state, and other secretaries, the choosing ought to be done by people with an obligation to the public. So, we are getting the cleaned up version.”

  11. A little rough around the edges, as the saying goes, but these two (the leaders of Britain First) impress me with their raw courage – I have seen this woman confronting muslims who real ooooooooooozed potential violence and not flinch.

  12. I was looking how much Christians must pay in Jizya or die if they actually get this choice? This was the only place I could find it. It was posted on the blaze but that was wrong. it’s 17 grams of 21K gold which amounts to more then what was stated at all of these sites.

I asked this question to a knowledgeable brother, it will depend. I forgot the exact numbers and standards, but to the extent of my memory, he said that per year (in the US$ equivalent of the currency today), a rich family must pay a three digit figure, an average family pays a one digit figure, a poor family does not pay and is entitled to charity to sustain their life.

Courtesy of Brother Quora User, this is the full answer:
“At current gold and silver prices, the Islamic State exacts from:

    A. Those who possess gold (the richest of the disbelievers from the people of the Book), four dinars of 21 karat gold, equivalent to about 17 grams at an annual cost of approximately $650

    B. Those who possess silver (the moderately wealthy of the disbelievers from the people of the Book), 20 dirhams of silver, equivalent to about 80 grams at an annual cost of approximately $42

    C. Those who possess neither gold or silver pay nothing

The tax is only required from able-bodied, free, adult males of sound mind. They pay no other tax on their income, at the point of sale, investments, etc.”
