An attack by gunmen in Iran’s volatile southeast near the border with Pakistan killed eight Iranian border guards, the semi-official Fars news agency reported Tuesday.
The area has been scene of occasional clashes between Iranian forces and militant groups believed to be affiliated with al-Qaida.
Four of the guards killed in the attack in the restive Sistan-Baluchistan province on Monday were conscripts, said Fars. It also said three of the attackers were killed in the shootout with the militants.
It was the second reported incident on Monday in Sistan-Baluchistan near the Pakistani border. Earlier, Iran’s official IRNA news said Revolutionary Guard units broke up a militant group linked to a “foreign intelligence” agency, killed three of its members and detained several. IRNA also said Guard forces confiscated a large amount of weapons and communication equipment from the militant group.
(Some very interesting videos at that link. the first 2 and then the fourth looks interesting as well so far)
Tauber, an adviser on culture and religious affairs for the Jewish Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was attacked by a man wielding a weighted chain at a cafe in central Sarajevo. Many witnessed the attack.
The attack, which was widely reported in the Bosnian media, occurred on March 21 while journalists from National Geographic magazine were interviewing Tauber about the status of Jews in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
(Who could have done that? Could it be the group that has signed two non-hostility treaties with the Philippine Government already?)
Armed men have abducted the mayor of a southern Philippine town from her house and fled with her on motorboats, officials said Tuesday.
Five armed men kidnapped Mayor Gemma Adana of Naga, a coastal town in the southern province of Zamboanga Sibugay, from her house while she was with friends late Monday, Interior Secretary Mar Roxas said.
Roxas condemned the abduction and said a manhunt was underway. A provincial crisis committee has been convened.
6. This is a fascinating clip from Egyptian TV where the Saudi culture and ideology is held to task
Andrew Pessin, Professor of Philosophy at Connecticut College, is the latest casualty in the campus-based culture wars. Dr. Pessin is a well-liked and much published professor, self-described as the “only Jewish professor on campus who openly advocates for Israel.” And now, for remarks made during last summer’s Gaza war, he faces an attack from Palestinian supporters seeking to silence pro-Israel stances on campus.
Pessin tells Breitbart News he believes he was set up by “a Muslim student and an Islamic Studies colleague” who worked in concert. They dug up one of Professor Pessin’s Facebook entries, one he posted during the August 2014 war in Gaza, the war in which Israeli soldiers uncovered and destroyed countless underground terror-tunnels which opened into Israel and were to be used in a mass attack against Israeli civilians. Referring to a leadership that purposely exposed its own civilians to death merely for propaganda purposes, and whose holy warriors attacked mainly Israeli civilians, Pessin compared this leadership to a “rabid pit bull.”
8. Here is a story about the consequences of Islamic values which defy a short title.
Thank you Wrath of Khan, Don C., M., and all who sent in materials. Much more to come. One has to wonder though. Does a muslim mother say to her son, “Why don’t you go rape an unsuspecting muslim girl and force her to settle down?”
