2. Muslim population in England and Wales nearly doubles in 10 years

The Muslim population of England and Wales is growing faster than the overall population, with a higher proportion of children and a lower ratio of elderly people, according to an analysis of official data.

One in three Muslims is under 15, compared with fewer than one in five overall. There are also fewer elderly Muslims, with 4% aged over 65, compared with 16% of the overall population.

3. Sinai terrorists linked with ISIS decapitate 10 alleged Israeli and Egyptian spies

An Islamic-State-linked group beheaded 10 men accused of spying for Israel and Egypt  in a gruesome video posted online, Egyptian media reported Tuesday.

The video shows terrorists from Welayat Sinai [Supporters of Sinai], which was formerly known as Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis, decapitate the men, then dump their bodies on a road in northern Sinai.

Before the beheading, the accused were also made to confess on camera that they were collaborators with the Israeli Mossad and the Egyptian military.

5. Myanmar revokes Rohingya voting rights after protests

Rohingya Muslims will not be able to vote in Myanmar’s referendum after the prime minister withdrew temporary voting rights following protests.

Hundreds of Buddhists took to the streets following the passage of a law that would allow temporary residents who hold “white papers” to vote.

More than one million Rohingya live in Myanmar, but they are not regarded as citizens by the government.

In 2012, violence between Muslims and Buddhists left more than 200 dead.

6. Malaysian cartoonist held for sedition over Anwar tweets

(Think any gay rights groups will say word 1 about this? Or are they too busy protesting Israel?)

Malaysian police have arrested a cartoonist for sedition after he condemned the judiciary for imprisoning opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.

Anwar began a fire-year sentence on Tuesday for sodomising a former male aide in 2008.

Cartoonist Zulkiflee Anwar Haque posted a series of tweets after the verdict accusing Prime Minister Najib Razak of influencing the judiciary.

7. Muslim child ‘bride’ was pregnant, court told

A 12-year-old girl who was “married” in an Islamic ceremony in her family’s Hunter Valley home fell pregnant but miscarried, a court has heard.

The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was examined at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead after she complained of sharp right abdominal pain. Doctors found she had an ectopic pregnancy – where the fertilised egg implants outside the uterus – and miscarried.

The now 13-year-old’s pregnancy was revealed in a statement of facts tendered to the NSW District Court during a sentencing hearing for a 27-year-old Lebanese university student, who also cannot be named for legal reasons.

In October last year the man pleaded guilty to one count of persistent sexual abuse of a child.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of 25 years jail. The man’s student visa has been cancelled and he is being detained in Villawood Immigration Detention Centre.

(The fact that the reporter and site felt that the word, ‘married’ should be put in quotes is a real sign of progress. Islamic marriage is not marriage as we understand it.)
