1. Anti-Islamist PEGIDA surfaces in Switzerland
Geneva: An anti-Islamic movement that id (sic) growing in Germany has established a Swiss wing and is planning a demonstration in the wealthy Alpine country next month.
The Swiss wing was launched late last week, taking the name of Germany`s “Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamisation of the Occident” (PEGIDA).
It announced on its Facebook page it would organise a demonstration at an undisclosed location in Switzerland on February 16.
A counter demonstration has already been announced for the same day.
Germany`s PEGIDA has seen soaring support as it rides a wave of fear and revulsion at last week`s killings of 17 people in France by Islamic extremists.
Last week the German PEGIDA wing drew a record 18,000 people and it has said it hopes even more people will turn out for a rally Monday evening in Dresden.

Britain is on high alert for a beheading attack after jihadists were detected discussing plans to murder members of the armed forces, police officers and people working in the intelligence services.
4. Ukip MEP handed high court papers as Labour sues over abuse claims
A HIGH court battle is looming after a Yorkshire Ukip MEP claimed Labour MPs must have known about the Rotherham child sex abuse scandal.
Ukip has refused to comment after three Labour MPs started defamation proceedings over “sicking” claims made by the party at its Doncaster conference.
MEP Jane Collins caused outrage when she used a speech at the party gathering last autumn to accuse Labour of knowing of the child abuse going on in Rotherham but failing to act.
Ms Collins was served with papers before Christmas after Rotherham MPs Sarah Champion, John Healey and Kevin Barron decided they were unlikely to secure a public apology from the outspoken MEP without legal action.
5. There is a video appearing everywhere showing a child in the Islamic State executing people. Frankly, this is one of those horrors that is hard to quantify, somewhat like the US debt. I won’t embed the video, I’m not even sure I want to watch it. But here is a link to it.
**UPDATE** Its actually fascinating (if this is the same video) up to around 6 minutes when it looks like the execution by some poor kid of two alleged Russian spies appears to about to take place. Before that, it is the confession of two men who appear to have been working for Russian FSB. Their confessions are interesting if true but seem unlikely to me. If the Russians were in this thing that way I think we would have seen the effects of it by now. Could be wrong though. One thing is for sure. WW3 is on but the fog of war hit the dew point well before the bullets started flying.
I suppose one should watch it in the ‘if you do not see enemy propaganda, then how can you know who they are, and how can you even believe they would do this’ sort of thing.

They relate last week’s events as though looking back on them from a vantage point far in the future, reminiscing about the early days of the caliphate before the wars were won, before its worldwide triumph. Writing in advance a semi-mythologized epic of foreordained Islamic victory, an appeal to the fabulous stories of conquest and destiny the audience for their propaganda has been raised on. It’s a boy’s adventure tale, too, a boy’s own adventure, so it makes sense to feature a kid in it.
They used kids like this in Nam, the troops defending themselves were called baby killers. The weapons the kids were using were full grown.
