This post will be a mixture of the usual matters as well as more fragments of yesterday’s hostage taking in Martin Place Australia. As material is still coming in (Thank you all who help out with that) its hard to stay organized so this post will be a bit of a hash)

4. ‘Third Death’ After Police Storm Sydney Cafe

Channel Nine reported that the 49-year-old gunman killed one of the hostages before police swooped.

A second hostage is also reported to have died, according to The Daily Telegraph.

5. Ethnic Cleansing of Jews in Turkey

The real question is: Now that the ethnic-cleansing campaign of the Turkish regime has been “successfully” completed, and there are only two Jews left in Edirne, why is the governor of the city still so angry?

The sweet little secret in both Turkey and Europe is that anti-Semites do not need the existence of a Jewish state to attack or threaten Jews. Hatred of Jews did not start with the re-establishment of the state of Israel.

The truth is that those who carried out ethnic cleansing of Jews are the last persons who should whine about the non-existent Israeli “occupation.” Israelis are not occupiers in Israel. Israel is the home of the Jews; you cannot be an occupier in your own home. Israel has the legal, moral and historical right to exist as a sovereign state.

6. BBC UK: 5 men in court on Syria related terror charges

Five men from London have appeared in court charged with a range of Syria-related terror and fraud offences.

The men were arrested by counter-terror officers on 30 November at Dover and on 1 and 4 December in London and appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

The charges include the preparation of acts of terrorism, assisting others to travel to Syria, and conspiracy to possess false identity documents.

A sixth man appeared alongside them charged with separate terror offences.

7. France: 10 people arrested in suspected jihadi network

(Reuters) – Anti-terrorism police arrested 10 people across France on Monday in a sweep aimed at disrupting a suspected jihadist network sending young fighters to Syria, the Paris prosecutors’ office said.

The arrests were mostly carried out in the cities of Toulouse and Le Havre as well as Paris, the office said.

BFM-TV reported the early morning raids stemmed from an investigation launched last year after a Turkish family concerned about the behaviour of their son alerted authorities.

The investigation also targeted four people in prison linked to the presumed network, police told Reuters.

(Meanwhile, the main news sites is pumping up the ‘ill ride with you’ meme as a way of making sure no one actually connects the actual cause to the effects of all these stories that all happened within the last 24 hours, and more importantly, probably represent less than 1% of Islamicly inspired and sanctioned horror in that time frame.

    “A Quran teacher in central Somalia was the fifth beheading victim in one week at the hands of Al-Shabaab, the al Qaeda-linked militant group based in Somalia. “The Quran teacher was snatched from his house in Qandho by Al-Shabaab militants on Friday and they dumped his headless, beheaded body near his home town on Saturday morning,” local town spokesman Abdiaziz Durow told CNN.

    The teacher was identified as Mohamed Hussein, 45, a resident of the Qandho near the besieged town of Bulo Burde, 217 miles north of Mogadishu in central Somalia. “The reason the Quran teacher was murdered is that he was one of the few residents that refused orders from Al-Shabaab to leave his village that was recently seized by Somali and AU troops,” Durow said.

    Al-Shabaab had warned local residents to leave their houses in the towns they have seized, according to Durow.
    Last week, the militant group abducted and beheaded two Somali policewomen in the city of Teyeglow, located in the southwest region. The beheadings prompted a government soldier whose wife was among the victims to kill five Al-Shabaab wives in retaliation.

    Al-Shabaab also beheaded two government soldiers near the town of Bur Hakaba in the Bay region in south Somalia. Al-Shabaab is a Somali group that was designated as a foreign terrorist organization by the U.S. government in March 2008. It is seeking to turn Somalia into a fundamentalist Islamic state.

    The group is believed to be responsible for attacks in Somalia that have killed international aid workers, journalists, civilian leaders and African Union peacekeepers.”

    THE GUARDIAN – Estimated 15,000 people join ‘pinstriped nazis’ on march in Dresden

    Far-right group Pegida holds ‘Islamisation’ protest, using slogan from 1989 campaign against East German government

    Its members have been dubbed the “pinstriped nazis” and they refer to their demonstrations as “evening strolls” through German cities. But on Monday night, an estimated 15,000 people joined Pegida, or Patriotic Europeans Against Islamisation of the West, in a march through Dresden carrying banners bearing slogans such as “Zero tolerance towards criminal asylum seekers”, “Protect our homeland” and “Stop the Islamisation”.

    Lutz Bachmann, the head of Pegida, a nascent anti-foreigner campaign group, led the crowds, either waving or draped in German flags, in barking chants of “Wir sind das Volk”, or “We are the people”, the slogan adopted by protesters in the historic “Monday demonstrations” against the East German government in the runup to the fall of the Berlin Wall.

    Associating themselves with the freedom demonstrations has given Pegida protests an air of moral respectability even though there are hundreds of rightwing extremists in their midst, as well as established groups of hooligans who are known to the police, according to Germany’s federal office for the protection of the constitution.

    THE TELEGRAPH – Dresden marchers fan anti-Islam flames in Germany
    More than 10,000 people march against the “Islamisation of the West” in Dresden

    Heavily armed riot police were out in force on the streets of Dresden on Monday night as more than 10,000 people demonstrated against the “Islamisation” of the country, in the latest show of strength of a far-right populist movement that mainstream politicians have described as “a disgrace to Germany”.

    Pegida, a German acronym for Patriotic Europeans against the Islamisation of the West, is leading a grassroots movement that is setting the political agenda in Germany, despite being just two months old and with no links to existing parties.

    The Justice Minister, Heiko Maas, said they were a “disgrace to Germany”, while a state minister in North Rhine-Westphalia called them “Nazis in pinstripe”.

    Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, condemned the protests earlier on Monday and called on those taking part to “take care that they were not exploited” by the far-Right.

    “There is freedom to demonstrate in Germany, but there is no place for propaganda and slander against people who come here from another country,” Mrs Merkel said.

    I’ve been diligently trending “close all the mosques” for a few years now……perhaps now there will be a few more takers and a few less whiners about my “extreme views”

    Sadly, the Lindt Cafe is like Starbucks, one of those places that is filled with self loathing, politically correct leftist/liberals whose heads explode every time they hear any criticism of Islam and the filthy Muslim……….I imagine they will be just a tad quieter now………with a little less shrieking and squealing of “Islamophobia”……
