FranceTV info may have come into contact with a teenage candidate for jihad. She explains her motivations, but also the itinerary to follow to reach Syria and the area controlled by the Islamic State.

This will be her fourth attempt. Her parents confiscated her passport, but “as soon as she has everything she needs,” Dounia* will “make a move”. Objective: To join the jihadists of the Islamic State in Syria. While waiting to put her plan into action (steal the identity papers of her sister, “inshallah”), this teenager from the southeast of France, posts pictures of fighters, and fighters of the Islamic State on Facebook. It was our interest in those pictures that made us contact her, via the fake profile of a 15-year old Parisian girl whom we created in order to understand the role of social networks in the radicalization of some young girls.

After some discussion on Facebook messaging, we go on Skype: “It’s less guarded (more secure) than Facebook, my sister,” she explains to us.

Born to non-practising Muslim parents, Dounia has “repented” – that is to say that she has returned to practice – it’s been almost a year. A few months later, she tried to leave three times. As for daily life, between “the science” and “sewing niqabs”, “sisters” sometime learn to defend themselves. But “don’t think you’ll be with men” to fight, warns the young girl.
