Tony Blair signed a secret contract with a Saudi oil firm, which promised him £41,000 a month and commission on deals he helped broker, it has been claimed.
The former prime minister signed the agreement with PetroSaudi – founded by a senior member of the Saudi royal family – in November 2010 in a deal that would promote the firm to Chinese leaders.
It proposed fees of £41,000 a month and a two per cent cut on any successful negotiations for Blair, while the firm was told it was prohibited from disclosing his role without consent.
The 21-page leaked document, obtained by The Sunday Times, is the first time a detailed contract agreed by his office – Tony Blair Associates – has been revealed.

Thailand to push back more than 200 [ Muslim ] boat people: police
More than 200 [ Muslim ] boat people held in southern Thailand will be pushed back out to sea, police said on Monday, despite calls by rights group to stop a policy that puts would-be asylum seekers at risk.
Around 259 Muslims were found at sea on Saturday and were arrested for illegal entry.
Their discovery around 3 km (1.86 miles) from the coast follows what one NGO said was a “major maritime exodus” from neighboring Myanmar of Rohingya, a mostly stateless Muslim minority group from the country’s west.
[…] interviews with some of the group showed they were heading for Malaysia to find work or, in the women’s’ cases, join their husbands.
The 259 will be put back on boats and sent back to Myanmar, said Police Colonel Sanya Prakobphol, head of Kapoe district police.
“They are Muslims from Myanmar … They are illegal migrants,” Sanya told Reuters by telephone.
“If they come in then we must push them back … once they have crossed the sea border into Myanmar then that’s considered pushing them back. What they do next is their problem.”

Thailand was downgraded in June to the lowest category in the U.S. State Department’s annual ranking of the world’s worst human-trafficking centers, putting it in the same category as North Korea and the Central African Republic.
The same month, the Thai military vowed to “prevent and suppress human trafficking”, after having seized power from an elected government on May 22.

ISRAEL -JERUSALEM 14-Year-Old Girl Dead, Two Wounded, in 2nd Terror Stabbing in Israel (PHOTOS)
This is the second terror attack on Monday, hours after Tel Aviv stabbing
A 14-year-old Israeli girl is dead, and two others are wounded, Israel Police confirmed to The Algemeiner, in a stabbing attack at the Gush Etzion Junction, south of Jerusalem, Monday afternoon.
The Palestinian attacker was shot and wounded, by a nearby security guard, police spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld said.
Meanwhile, an Israeli soldier is fighting for his life after another stabbing attack earlier today, at a train station in Tel Aviv.
In reaction to the initial attack, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the “terrorists are inciting, and want to kick us out of here. I promise they won’t be successful,” according to Israel’s Ynet news site.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon forms board of inquiry to investigate targeting of UN facilities in Gaza by Israel
U.N. chief names retired Dutch general to head Gaza war inquiry
UNITED NATIONS, Nov 10 (Reuters) – U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Monday named a retired Dutch general to head an inquiry into attacks on United Nations facilities during Israel’s recent war against Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip and the use of U.N. sites to store weapons.
U.N. spokesman Farhan Haq told reporters the investigation would be “an internal and independent United Nations Headquarters Board of Inquiry into certain incidents that occurred in the Gaza Strip between July 8 and August 26, 2014.”
The world body has said that tens of thousands of dwellings were damaged or destroyed in 50 days of fighting between Israel and Palestinian militants, and 108,000 people were left homeless in an impoverished, isolated territory.
In one incident, more than a dozen people were killed at a U.N. school during Israeli shelling. Israel has cited militants’ use of U.N. facilities to store rockets as a reason for targeting them.
Haq said Patrick Cammaert, a retired Dutch general and former force commander of the U.N. peacekeeping mission in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, will head the investigation.
Other inquiry members will be Maria Vicien-Milburn of Argentina, Lee O’Brien of the United States, Pierre Lemelin of Canada and K.C. Reddy of India.
On the mandate of the investigation, Haq said “it will review and investigate a number of specific incidents in which death or injuries occurred at, and/or damage was done to United Nations premises.
“The Board will also review and investigate incidents in which weapons were found to be present on United Nations premises,” he added. “The Secretary-General expects that the Board will enjoy the full cooperation of all parties concerned.”
Israel’s military in September opened five criminal investigations into its Gaza war operations, including attacks that killed four Palestinian children on a beach and 17 people at a U.N. school.
An estimated 20,000 homes were badly damaged or destroyed in the fighting and Gaza’s power station and other major infrastructure were hit. Rebuilding could take years.
More than 2,100 Palestinians, most of them civilians, were killed during the Gaza war. Sixty-seven Israeli soldiers and six civilians in Israel were killed by rockets and attacks by the militants aligned with Hamas, the group that controls the Gaza Strip.

CBC – Quebec City mosques targeted by anti-Muslim posters
Three Quebec City mosques were the target of xenophobic messages over the weekend.
Signs reading “Islam hors de chez moi” — Islam out of my country — were posted on each of the mosques’ front doors.
A mosque in the Limoilou neighbourhood, the Islamic cultural centre of Quebec City in Ste-Foy and the capital city mosque in Quebec City proper were targeted.
A group named Québec Identitaire seemingly has taken credit for the posters.
The group’s name was written on the posters.
Khalil? Bahji, who has been attending the Limoilou mosque since 2007, said he and his fellow congregation members are saddened by the attack.
He said the members of the surrounding community are also disappointed, adding that they have been supportive in the past.
We thought about moving to another place when our lease was about to end, Bahji told CBC Daybreak on Monday.
He told host Mike Finnerty that a member of the community approached members of the mosque and asked why they wanted to leave and whether the neighbours had done anything to make them feel unwelcome.
“This action doesn’t reflect the real opinion of the people who surround the mosque,” Bahji said.
An administrator at another mosque said they have handed over a security tape to police showing two people putting up signs on their door.
The administrator told Radio-Canada that he believed they were isolated incidents and that he wasn’t worried, shrugging it off as an unfortunate incident of cultural ignorance.

Soldier-killer’s mosque vandalized in Quebec
The mosque in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que., that was frequented by the man who used his car as a weapon to kill a Canadian soldier last month was vandalized over the weekend, police say.
Police say a suspect or suspects smashed the front window with a piece of concrete between Sunday evening and early Monday morning.
“The place is not protected by an alarm system and there was no surveillance camera,” Sgt. Luc Tougas said.
Police don’t have any suspects or witnesses.
On Oct. 20, Martin Couture-Rouleau, 25, ran down Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent, 53, in the parking lot outside a Canadian Forces recruitment office in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, southeast of Montreal. Another soldier was injured but survived the hit and run.
Cops shot Couture-Rouleau dead following a car chase.
The Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu mosque was one of four targeted in the province over the weekend. The others had derogatory messages posted on their doors.

To counter rise of Islamic State, Jordan imposes rules on Muslim clerics

Primary school teachers should be allowed to wear Muslim veils in the classroom, according to the former Archbishop of Canterbury.
Rowan Williams claims that there is no reason to ‘panic’ over the use of the niqab and that even young children do not necessarily need to be able to see their teacher’s face.
Speaking in an interview for the Christian think-tank Theos he argued that there fears over how such a practise might affect children’s learning were ‘misplaced.’
He said: ‘I’ve actually been in public discussions in Pakistan with women wearing full face veil, and you learn to read differently, it’s not that those codes don’t happen … but there’s a cultural obstacle to overcome.
‘As a matter of fact I think that’s largely a misplaced anxiety, but I can see where it comes from.’
His comments are set to reignite the row over the role of the controversial full-face veil in public life which have rumbled on for years.
Last year Home Office minster Jeremy Browne called for a national discussion about their use in some settings such as schools, fearing that young women in some Islamic faith schools might have the veil imposed on them against their will.
David Cameron rejected the idea of a ban but said he would ‘back up’ schools and courts that ask women to remove veils.
The row continued when it emerged that a number of NHS hospitals had secretly banned female staff from covering their faces, followed by an admission from Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt that he would not personally want to be treated by someone wearing a veil.
